Extremely fresh, flavorful, and no frills. Got the branzio segari style, which is baked with veggies and lots of seasoning. When you walk in, you go straight to the fish on ice and pick which one, the style, and take a number. From there you’ll get a number and they’ll bring you a menu to order the sides.
The food was incredibly good, fish was fresh and the atmosphere was super homey and friendly. The clams were a little bit salty, but with some pita and lemon it was balanced out really well. Spent about 90 for 4 plates of seafood and 2 sides, split between a friend and I. I also noticed there was a lunch special, so I will definitely be coming back!
Hamido Seafood has the best Egyptian-style seafood in New York (and that’s coming from someone from Alexandria). When you walk in, the nautical decor captures your attention right after the delicious smell of the food. Every single dish is seasoned to perfection - from the salad to the fish to the shrimp, calamari, scallops, everything! No matter how you get it prepared - baked, grilled, fried, everything is simply delicious. I drive to Hamido from Long Island at least once a month to eat their amazing food. If I lived closer, I’d be here multiple times a week. The staff is so kind and warm and inviting, especially the family behind the business. I am always greeted with so many smiles when I walk in and I think that is such an important part of a business. No matter how busy it is (which it is often), they are pleasant and kind. When anyone asks for a suggestion of where to eat in Astoria, I always recommend Hamido Seafood!
Love this restaurant. However when you get take out and measure the weight of the food it is short particularly for the tiger shrimp. I ordered 2 lbs of shrimp got home and measured it at 1.488 lbs including the container! Called and complained and they tried to feed me a line of BS about the way they measure and using the approximate count of shrimp.
Hamido’s seafood is one of the best restaurants I have ate at. Including the staff and the delicious food. Everyone is welcoming and helpful. All the food is cooked freshly and comes in a good amount. I love the calamari, shrimp, the rice, and more. I came from upstate NY to eat there and it was definitely worth the long drive. Can’t wait for the next visit.
Absolutely amazing Egyptian/Mediterranean seafood dishes. The owner is amazing as well, very personable. Really good authentic Egyptian spices. Ive been to the city of Alexandria in Egypt and this place has the same quality and taste. Its BYOB - so bring your own favorite wine or champagne!
I have to say, the fish is always delicious here, love the red snapper grilled with the spices, so perfect taste wise! I got jumbo shrimp also which was expensive but worth the price! Cant go wrong with the scallops and octopus either! The place is always busy (thats a good sign) but worth the wait...
Astoria has plenty of great sea food restaurants, if your at all familiar with the area, you would agree. What sets Hamido apart is, not only how fresh and delicious the food is, but they make you feel at home. The chef is a maestro and you are guaranteed to enjoy the experience. Excellent!
Beautifully decorated new fish restaurant in Astoria, Queens . Fresh seafood and fish, prepared on the spot, in the middle eastern way.Super clean place to eat, great service, friendly, and cozy atmosphere. It was our first time there and we liked it so much, we r definitely go back
Amazing place!!!Great service, the food is one of the best mediterranean foods y have tried in the area.Sea food, salads, side dishes, all done right on point and served in a very professional featured home style. The prices are right on point, they are not low, BUT, they shouldnt be!!!I would say than the prices are really fair for the quality of food, the excellent service, and the experience you will get by going to this place, remember life is made out of moments...
My sis came in from New Orleans this weekend. She saw this restaurant on Instagram before she got to NYC. So, Hamido Seafood was the place!! For the amount of food we have I thought the bill was going to be $400-$500. We spent nowhere near those amounts. Less that $300. 🤗🤗🤗🤗 Coming back again!! Our server were great as well.
First of all its not only the food that makes this place phenomonal! Its the STAFF! Amazing people. They really go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable..they took their time to explain their dishes with a smile on their face at all times. The food is delicious.
Everything was delicious. We had grilled octopus, shrimp and calamari, baba ghanoush, eggplant with garlic & peppers, and beet salad. All good, but the baba ghanoush was some of the best I’ve ever had! Also, sardines, I was unsure of the cooking method, maybe baked, and it had spices (cumin, chilies, others — amazing combo!!) was a star! Their seafood was all impeccably fresh.
We ordered 6 grilled shrimps (I think it’s oil and garlic), 4 fried sardines, 2 fried calamari, grilled branzino and Greek salad. We loved the shrimps and the fried food! I think spices they had is really good, kind of tasty for seafood. We thought we had ordered too much food for 2 people but we did finished everything. The service is good!!! I do recommend this new restaurant, opened only 3 weeks. I would come back again!
Hamido seafood is such an amazing spot! When we arrived we didn’t know what to expect. They had a display of fresh seafood to choose from and everything looked so good we didn’t know what to pick! 😯 However we put our trust in them, told them what we liked and they said they would put something together special for us and boy were we surprised! 👏 Not only did we not have to think so hard on what to get but they put together my seafood dreams right on that table 🤤❤️ They are so highly skilled and trained! We also felt super welcome and cared for. You can tell that they’re truly passionate about what they do and it shows 🙌🎉💞 They have become one of my favorite seafood locations! Astoria is such a fun place to be📍Got a gf who doesn’t know what she wants to eat but you know she loves seafood? Take her here and do what we did! 🦐.Definitely 5star worthy..𝐿𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑇ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ𝐻𝑜𝑝𝑒𝐴𝑝𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑑⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was so elated to find new seafood restaurant in this area and Hamido is one you don’t want to miss!! Everything is freshly prepared and seasoned/cooked to perfection. If you are new to here then just go with the chef’s recommendation of ways of cooking. You won’t be disappointed!
Best egyptian SEAFOOD I ve eaten.. Amazing and tasty.Customer service is greatThe chef is cool. They are egyptian so be nice and they will be nicer. Be patient to wait its very busy so dont expect 123. Great place.I see some negatif comment and are all iralavent from what I experienced. Knowing myself Im very picky.
Ive had my share of seafood, but let me tell that hamido does it better than anyone the care and quality used on this seafood restaurant is outstanding. The icing on the cake is my friend and I ate a full lobster, octopus shrimp red snapper Egyptian rice potatoes and hamido salad all for only $170 woooooow this is by far a must visit and recommended place
As a regular customer me and my husband we always go there enjoy food. but this time we ordered food and waited to seat 15 min even they have 3 empty tables.and the manager gave us worst table next to door with unwelcoming attitude.we not eating here for free?! dont think we come back .
Watch out for this place! they do not apply covid protocols. Inside the fishmonger they do not wear masks, there is no alcohol gel on the tables, there is no social distance between tables. In addition to that, I must say that the site ranges from fair to poor. We ordered a grilled fish and some noodles with clams ... the food was more or less good, there is nothing to highlight (the two stars are because the fish was fresh).Bad attention, because they hardly attended us! They only came three times: they left the menu, after 15 minutes they came back with water, after 20 minutes they asked us if we were ready, after 45 minutes they brought us the food and then they didnt come back. We go in to pay. They dont care if everything was okay, if we needed something, if we wanted something else ... nothing. VERY BAD ATTENTION.I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone.
New comer seafood restaurant in Ditmars. Stoped by and toke a little while to get service. But to be fair, seems like they are just getting organize to be open for the summer. I couldn’t really try much, beside the calamari, which it was undercook to my girlfriend standards. They were really busy.Still I’m looking forward to visit in the future if the opportunity presents itself. The place seems to be slightly renovated from a former salad bar business.I wish them the best. And congrats in the opening
Hamido Masha Allah is a very very good seafood restaurant and it’s actually the best one in AstoriaI always get the Mixed Grill and the Hamido SaladThe fish is very tasty too and you get to choose two different types of ways on how you want it to be cooked for you so I definitely recommend it to everyone 🙂
I invited couple friends to Hamido seafood restaurant. Please forgive me ahead for this review. We ordered fish BBQ and Grilled, red mullet and octopus, Molokaya with shrimp and rice.Well the fish was cooked correctly but no flavor at all and I got bad heartburn from the oil. Whoever cooked the rice, really needs to quit cooking rice. The molokhia smelled like old fish. The octopus was sliced and not cut cylinders shape, over boiled and salty. Unfortunately mostly burned not grilled. The red mullet was oily and no seasoning at all. The meal was a disaster and an embarrassment. My friend didn’t finish his fish and the bill was really expensive to the quality served. Again I am sorry but I will not recommend Hamido to any of my friends as I compared the place to the Greek place or other similar restaurants in Steinway and Brooklyn. Management should fix its cooking style and serve salad at least with the food for free. Any place give a salad with the fish for the same price charged.
Amazing seafood and family thats owns it! The incredible experience of picking your own raw fish to be cooked from your choice of methods, has become my favorite dining expertise lately. I almost always get the whole wild red snapper, baked; the way Hamido does this is in an amazing red spice/sauce that is flavourful (but not hot like many red tinged dishes so dont be scared!). Im looking forward to getting something bran-grilled, in which they coat the fillet in bran which adds a smokey quality as it grills and chars. The scallops and shrimp are incredible, while the sardines get such a flavourful coating. Amazing salads to go with your meal are a must-order! The rice looks amazing, Im on a diet but if you can manage please get it, you can tell just by the look itll have tons of flavor! !!
You can get fresh fish to go or have them cook it for you. The first time I came I got some fish to grill at home. The second time was to eat in. The food is really good. We got black seabass (baked), grilled shrimp, Greek salad and seasoned fries. Everything was excellent. They brought complimentary bread that was not that good. One thing that was annoying is you cant fit two chairs under the table at the same time.
My cousin brought me here for my birthday last night and I had absolutely no idea what to order, but Im so glad I went and will definitely be coming back. The atmosphere is low key and simple, but the food is so delicious. The staff is also super friendly! We ordered some grilled shrimp, sea bass, squid and shrimp tangine. For sides, we had rice, beets, eggplant and salad. They even gave us a complimentary tahini because they were out of their famous bread. Fresh fresh fresh is all I can say about the food at this family run business. You can really taste the flavors of the seafood since its not overpowered by spices. Im already thinking of going back!Update: came back here twice since the first time I wrote this review and still 5 stars. Definitely get the grilled scallops and if they have the African wild shrimp, do yourself a favor and get it. Such friendly people and amazing food.
If you haven’t tried this place, I’m telling you you’re missing out big time! This was the best seafood experience I ever had. Everything was super fresh and cooked right after order. You get to choose which seafood you want by looking and choosing it as well as decide the way you want it to be cooked. The portions were huge and very filling. The customer service was very good as well and the food came out super quick. All in all absolutely love the place and would go back again and again for sure!
One of my favorite seafood restaurant I definitely recommend it to anyone who’ve never been there. Try their grilled octopus and their fried shrimp! Also they cook it with such a good quality olive oil. It was my fourth time being there and will absolutely comeback at anytime I’ll get a seafood cravings.
OMG, this place is a hidden gem. Always delivers the most delicious freshest seafood. My absolute favorite is the Shrimp & Scallops pasta. I can eat it everyday. I hope you can add more pasta dishes to your menu in the future.Hats down to the chef & the staff at Hamido’s.
I have been here many times and the customer service keeps on disappointing and proving that it not worth it.I have had here the worst food customer service experience ever in NYC.The main chef is rude, you will be treated with no respect, you will wait forever to order and when your turn comes you will be rushed to order quick, forced to order more food and the chef will come up with anything just to make you order more.Avoid coming here at all costs it is not worth it, many better options in the area.
Pick which fresh fish you desire, how you want it cooked, and the staff at Hamido will make it happen! They have excellent, affordable lunch specials. Their sides are delicious from grilled eggplant to tahini with piping hot pit. Hamido is an Egyptian take on Mediterranean seafood. Be certain to find something delicious from their daily menu.
Fraud. I paid my lunch with credit card and I tipped in cash. After few days I found out that they charged additional $25 in my credit card without my permission. Guys, please check more often your transactions to avoid any bad surprise! I’m really disappointed. A serious action will be taken.***UPDATE: I spoke to the manager and he understood and cooperated. He’s going to refund me the additional charge made by mistake.(Food was great)
Very fresh seafood made to order. The prices are good considering the qualify of the food. We asked the chef to prepare a red snapper and mixed seafood in a typical Egyptian way. He worked his magic. Some of the best tasting seafood we ever had. Also, some of the best Arabic lemonade with mint we ever tried!
The seafood pizza I ordered was the tastiest and best seafood pizzas ever! !! The spices they use are amazing! Anyway, I lived in the area for the past couple of years and to be honest, Hamidos is becoming the best seafood restaurant on Ditmars Blvd. They deserve way more than a 5 star rating! I hope they will keep up the great (really great!) cooking, fresh ingredients and good work. Great job!!! Thank you!
My first time having this specific style of seafood.. it is very very fresh and tasty!! And you can choose exactly how much you want to order. Everything was a bit heavy on cumin which i love but not everyone likes it. And i really enjoyed the paper table cloth thing, reminded me the fish restaurants back in turkey.
I happened on this restaurant on my way to pick up from Albas. I tried the fried shrimp and calmari special and was very pleasantly surprised by the perfectly balanced seasoning and spot on crunch on the outside and juicy tenderness on the insides. My family has a very wide range/tolerance for spice and the seasoning did the impossible job of making evenone happy!! Good but greasy sides - veg moussaka (eggplant) and garlic eggplant. Definitely good back to try more of the menu.
Beyond being a middle eastern man who may come off as biased with such an amazing review, I ask you to forget that and just try this food yourself. I’ve lived in the Upper east side since I was 2 years old. Astoria as I’ve aged has been the home away from home when you want to feel and experience your ethnic culture and it’s foods and sweets. Over the last 5-10 years the quality has diminished in such an immense way. So much so I’ve gone to Astoria a fraction of what I used to, until Hamido’s opened up. Wow! Seafood done the way seafood needs to be eaten. Wow doesn’t even give credit to the first bite you take, it’s your heart that falls in love again with seafood for a first time. That tingly feeling inside of excitement at the idea I get to eat this again is how I feel typing this now. Do yourself a favor and stop in, try the fish or shrimp or even just the energy of the Middle East inside this place. Ethos is nearby and one heck of a seafood plate and surely if you’ve said that place to be amazing you’ll find its new rival in taste and satisfaction. I clean my plate every time I’ve ordered this food and I’m sure I’ll be seeing you all do the same who take heed of such advice. Enjoy!
The most amazing food Ive had in a very long time. The chef really concocted a blend of herbs and spices to entertain the guest palate. The food was prepared to perfection and served at the right temperature. The octopus was the most delicious I ever had. I will definitely return for more. Congratulations to the chef!
This was an awesome place to eat authentic Egyptian seafood. The King crab is cooked to perfection and the fried shrimp was amazing. Everything was fresh and the prices are reasonable. They are a new restaurant but they are worth it and the staff is very helpful and kind.
Excellent Egyptian seafood. I used to frequent Abuqair but recently have been going to Hamido’s instead. Main advantage is the space itself but the food is very similar in quality. Hamido does offer more sides. I recommend taking out of town visitors to Hamido’s for a unique NY experience.
Okay so let me start by saying that this restaurant really offers fresh seafood cooked to perfection and at very reasonable prices. I have been coming here since summer 19’ and their flavors and freshness have been very consistent and that is why I come here when I want to have a seafood feast.I usually get 2 octopus legs, scallops, squid & shrimp in their grilled garlic/olive oil sauce for me and my boyfriend, plus a greek salad which is delicious & an order of their rice & the bill comes to around $75 which in my opinion for 2 people for fresh and flavorful seafood works out great, we either finish everything or end up bringing the left overs home. The house always provides fresh baked bread & infused water with mint & cucumbers.Flavor wise this place deserves a 10 star review but when it comes to service I think it could be better,Waiters/waitresses need to be more attentive and accommodating although I understand they are mainly busy. However, it does take a long time for them to even sit you at a table, take the side orders, bring you the bread and the water or w.e else you want to order, so in conclusion come here with time (food also takes a while but be mindful they cook it for you right on the spot). If you are a seafood lover like me you need to experience it yourself.
We love ordering dinner from this relatively new Astoria restaurant. In fact, I look forward to Fridays for that reason.Their fish is invariably fresh and expertly prepared according to your preference. After visiting Rhode Island and sampling their cath-of-the-day offerings, I can definitively say that Hamido is very much on the same superb level with both the quality of their seafood and the skills of their chefs. You meal comes with a choice of Egyptian golden rice or tahini, or moussaka, and all three are equally delicious. They also serve a fabulous salad. I highly recommend it, if youre ever in Astoria!
Super fresh and very well seasoned seafood - even the water was deliciously seasoned with lime and mint. Our table had a variety of seafood but the crab legs were the best. For as busy as the restaurant was, there was barely any wait time. Will be back for sure! Thank you to Tony and the rest of the very attentive staff for the great customer service.
I really enjoyed coming to this restaurant. They have great selections. The fish were fresh and tasty. Its easy to select what you want and the cooks are happy to help in selecting what you want. The waitress was sweet and kind. The Establishment was nice and clean. I would recommend trying this place out!!!
One of the best places for seafood. Grilled shrimp is amazing. The staff and service is excellent. The place is kid friendly. I have been here for a second time since they have opened and will make this place a regular spot. I definitely recommend to any seafood lover!!
No style, no flavor , not Greek style , definitely not egyptian or Alexandria style , they use this salty seasoning on every thing , it kills the flavor of the seafood plate , they try to make their own style of seasoning but it dont work with traditional seafood lovers .my recommendations is try sabry stienway , astakoza broklyn or Morgan jersey sity they are the best very traditional egyptian style fish and seafood
The grilled (mashwi) bronzini was perfectly prepared. For those who love ringa, the ringa here is absolutely delicious and I was suprised by how it tasted as if it was prepared in Egypt, very authentic. You cant go wrong ordering anything on this menu if youre a fan of seafood prepared just like back home.
You dont want to miss out on this spot!!! Born and raised in Astoria and I was a loyal customer of Taverna Kyclades for years, but having tried this spot I can honestly say the quality of the food and service truly surpass that of any place else in town. The spices used on the seafood are unmatched to anything Ive tasted. So savory and cooked to perfection. It felt like I was having dinner in the streets of Athens or Alexandria. The places decor and menu were really thought out. The bill was wallet friendly, which isnt usually the case for seafood spots. Go! Go! Go! Youll walk out with a happy tummy.
I had been trying to go for weeks, but every time we went they were very busy...! I finally was able to go last night and it was absolutely worth the wait. We ordered greek salad, baba ganoush, eggplant with peppers and tomatoes, broiled scallops, grilled squid and shrimp and to top it all off we got a whole oven roasted striped bass. Everything was excellent! I will be back, many, many times! Love this new place.
I have passed this restaurant many times before because I’ve tried so many on this strip...today 9/17/20. I was looking for a place to eat with my friends and decided OK let me try this place from the time we got there to the time that we left everything was spectacular the service the Food everything of course I must recommend and return.. Thank you Ahmed, Sorvino, Brittney for making our day a great one!!!!
Great food & super affordable!I tried the bronzini cooked singari-style (oven baked & stuffed with veggies) and it was incredible. For sides, we got rice, tahini, and eggplant & tomato (amazing!!). The food was so filling, fresh, and full of flavor! The service was perfect; servers were not hovering but also checking in just the right amount. Our sides came out quickly and we ate that until our fish came out with the rice (our fish took about 35-40 minutes to prepare because you choose your fish fresh and then they cook it). The place was also extremely clean and decorated well.
I was very happy with my fried calamari (very fresh, very tender and the breading wasnt too heavy) our grilled shrimp (shrimp cleaned well, cooked perfectly and served in delicious garlic butter sauce) but our whole red snapper was a bit over cooked. I still give 5 stars because it was within the first two weeks of opening, and we came right at sundown on Ramadan which apparently isnt the best time as there were a lot of people there breaking their fast. Only mentioned because I assumed it backed up the kitchen.Ill be going back to sit down and eat again but also, this will be one of my go-to quick things to grab to eat on the walk home. Id say give me a pound of that shrimp for me to destroy while I journey home anytime.
My first time eating here i was skeptical since its across from another long time running seafood spot, i was so incredibly pleased with my meal, the chef gave me a few suggestions since the ordering method is kind of unique, havent had branzino like that in a long time, it was as if my grandmother was cooking in the back, food was so fresh, so tastey, and so healthy. The owner and staff were incredibly welcoming, everything was top notch, new hidden gem in astoria, check it out.
It was very gutsy to open a Greek seafood place across from Taverna Kyclades, but I was pleasantly surprised! We had grilled tiger shrimp, baked red snapper with olive oil & spices, and baked scallops. Everything was perfectly cooked. The tahini came with fun pita/bread. Greek salad was tasty though not as good as across the street. I liked how my kids were able to see everything before it was cooked. This place has a fun and relaxed vibe, where its ok for kids to be kids.
Amazing food !!! Everything was marinated and cooked so well !!! The grilled bronzini and scallops were excellent !!! The fried barbouni was on point, never tasted anything like it. The staff is so friendly and they did their best to accommodate everyone while it was really busy !!!
Aviso! This is an Egyptian, not Greek, fish restaurant... Not that its bad, just the flavoring is different. Fish and seafood made to order... Add herring salad (salty) and babaganush (spicy, but tasteless) and brown rice (tasty) to complete the meal. The locals were getting a calamari stew, not on the menu; tagine.
Ordered Tegine, fish and ships to stay over an hour ago and still waiting for food. Will update if anything changesEdit: changed 1 star to three.Appetizers were complimentary because of “unforeseen” wait.Calamari is $25Fish and chip $13.99Tagine 25.00Prices are not mentioned anywhere on the menu or restaurant
First time we walk in nobody to direct us to our seats and let us know how order , there were no menus , we sat down waited for 15 min then an employee said you had to walk and place ya order in the front then come sit down and wait for the waiter to grab your sides ,Very confused didn’t know what was going on or how to give my order I was getting hungryI then asked for fries for my kid or what they had for kids food. Waiter told me sorry we have nothing for the kids. So at this point I wasn’t happy but ok , I asked for French fries and she said there was no French fries at all. But its 4pm on a Monday.I’m sitting writing about this because this is super upsetting me. Hopefully they see this and Make changes because I don’t wanna come back.

2022-03-20What an amazing meal with fresh shrimp, fish and delicious Greek veggie.Apparently it’s not super busy around 11am on a Sunday which is surprising. A true seafood lover would be so happy to come here. First you pick your seafood and the good chef will make it the way you want it with couple selections. They will take your order for hummus and whatnot after that and seated.I am not a fan on whole fish but they are definitely fish. Price is pretty reasonable with cooking and seasoning. I love the fresh shrimp grilled and a little burned.Selection of seafood include whole fish, lobster, shrimp, octopus and salmon. It’s just exciting to see your food before it’s cook without the fish market smell.

2022-06-21OMG... First i was skeptical but let me tell you... The food was delicious 😋. The seafood was fresh. You pick what you want and they cook it how you want. The staff was friendly and very professional. They always came by our table to check and see if we needed or wanted anything. There is no parking on the premises but there is a lot around the corner as well as street parking. Prices vary based on what you like and affordable. I have to applaud 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 this establishment. The atmosphere, music, and the people were on point. I wish I could give them 10 stars.

2022-05-31We’ve tried a few made to order seafood spots in Astoria this Spring. Abuqir, Astoria Seafood, and now Hamido. In our opinion, Hamido is probably the most pleasant experience out of the 3. The food is well seasoned. The service is definitely the best of the 3, and the sides are just as good as the fish. The restaurant itself is clean, well run, and fully staffed. It may be a little more expensive than the other 2, but I think it’s probably worth the benefits I mentioned for a lot of people. That said, all 3 are excellent options depending on the day.

2022-03-06Amazing seafood and a unique experience. Go to the counter, pick your fish and seafood, tell them how you like it cooked, then wait for a table to sit. Servers are very helpful and quick..Once seated we ordered our sides. Only a few tables so wait can get long. Lucky we came late and didnt wait too long. the fresh seafood cooked to perfection and deliciousness beyond 😋 😍 👌. Next time will go back for the lobster and octopus which they ran out of. PS the fish eggs, a delicacy, were to die for!

2022-06-01It was my first time and really loved their fresh seafood. Their staffs were super friendly and the seafood was SUPER fresh literally the lobster was picked out from the fish tank. They have many variety of fresh fishes. I had lobster and giant wild shrimp with a side (eggplant salad). The lobster was oven baked stuffed with some fresh veggies. I ate every bit of it lol. With the price and quality of seafood it was totally WORTH it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for seafood lovers!

2022-05-16Wow we were totally blown away by this place!First time trying Egyptian food, and the seafood was exceptional, super fresh and flavorful. We asked for recommendations from the nice man at the fish counter. He suggested the bass baked Egyptian style, and the red snapper baked with olive oil and lemon. We also got fried calamari and grilled tiger shrimp (highly recommend this)For the sides, we got the babaganoush, garlic eggplant, and Hamido salad (cucumber, tomato, and onion). Each dish was honestly excellent.Everyone who worked there was so welcoming and friendly. Thank you to the man who helped us with recommendations for being so patient with all our questions! To top it off, prices are a steal considering the quality and was a very affordable dinner for 3 of us.I will definitely come out of my way to come back and will bring more friends next time :)

2022-03-27Great restaurant with traditional seafood dishes of Egypt. Decor is awesome, feels like you’re in Alexandria. You pick the fresh seafood and the way they prepare it. Well seasoned. Good service. Reasonably priced side dishes. Herring salad was amazing. Lunch special is available ending at 4pm.

2022-05-13One of the best seafood spot in the area! You get to pick your food and they cook it right in front of you. I went there on a date and we had octopus, shrimp and fried calamari. The sides were also really good. We had fries and the hamido salad. The food was delicious I strongly recommend!!!

2022-04-07This place is amazing!! 😭💖 The fish and seafood is so fresh and delicious. The owner is kind, helpful, friendly & effusive. Ordered the red snapper (broiled with garlic and olive oil), scallops (grilled) and shrimp (fried). The fresh fish and seafood are kept on ice at the counter; after choosing what you want, the seafood is weighed, broken down (filleted/shelled) and cooked to order. After taking a number and finding a table a server came around promptly to take our order for sides. We ordered the Greek salad which was quite a large portion. We also ordered the rice, which was under seasoned and underwhelming. The tahini is my favourite side at Hamido. The food is always so fresh, flavourful and delicious; cooked perfectly. I love the variety of fish and seafood they have and that it changes daily based on what’s fresh and available. Next time I’d like to try the octopus and the lobster; both of which the table next to us ordered and looked delicious. The sides are also very good and great for sharing if you’re dining as a group. Waitstaff is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable.Hamido is also BYOB, so I usually stop by Astoria Bier & Cheese a few stops away @ the broadway stop to grab some fun local or craft beers to bring along with me!!Awesome place to eat in Astoria; great vibe, great people and great food. Totally recommend ! :)

2022-04-14Coming in the hospitality was great but it took over an hour for us to get our food we came in at 715 and got our food at 815. It is really slow behind the counter when ordering and again when waiting for the food and appetizers. The fish is pretty good but was over seasoned. The fried shrimp were the best I have had though. Overall I would try another place next time. For just the snapper and some shrimp our total was over $75 before tip.
