Good location. Elevators were broken so only one worked , had to wait forever to get one. Bed was the most awful bed I’ve ever slept on, hard as a rock. I’ve stayed in the city a number of times and sorry to say this was my least favorite hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Lobby was tiny. Breakfast wasn’t great. Staff was very friendly and we could leave our bags after checkout so we could still go out without carrying all our things. Overall I wouldn’t stay here again.
Great location with lots of great shops and restaurants within walking distance. Hotel staff was friendly during all encounters. Room was very nice, but a little musty -- especially in the closet so I kept the door closed. If youre looking for a nice value hotel in Chelsea, this is a great spot. It was also quieter than I expected so that was a bonus. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Our stay was very comfortable. The rooms are your average size for a NYC room, the fridge in room is a plus. You are right by a Wholefoods and a Trader Joes. I was worried about noise from the elevators but the room was very quiet. Comfy beds. It was a to go breakfast because of the times. Not the best, but appreciate the effort. Coffee available is always nice though. If you dont mind walking this location was wonderful to access many different parts of Manhattan.
This place was wonderful! The staff was great and accommodating. My daughter and I were so exhausted that we really wanted to check in earlier than the already early check in we upgraded to and we were able to check in before 9am and take a nap..The AC was fantastic!! Being from Oregon, that humidity was a rough transition!A hood 20+ blocks away from Time Square but it was nice not being in the middle of it. The walk wasnt bad at all! (Aside from the sweat from the humidity lol)Overall great stay and would definitely choose this place again!
The hotel was disgusting; my family and I were mortified. There was mold and dirt on the walls, stains on the curtains, bedding, TV, and mirrors. When I complained about the cleanliness of the room, the hotel manager came to my room and said if I was unhappy, I could leave the hotel. When she overheard me say I was going to leave a review on their site, she then said she could show me another room- it was the same, DIRTY. The staff was rude and unprofessional. The conditions were so horrible that I demanded a refund and had to search for another hotel to stay in. DO NOT BOOK A STAY AT THIS HOTEL.
Too much to say!! 12/9 was my bday and I was not having a good day....until i walked into the Hampton Inn Chelsea in Manhattan!! from the get go, the hotel clerks (Raven and Sharon) were SPECTACULAR and changed my whole bad day around!! They were encouraging when I teared up at the bad day i was having, offered to set up a taxi to take me to the airport in the morning, and brought me a little goodie bag wishing me happy birthday with a card that everyone signed! They made sure I didnt want for anything! But that was not all! I had gone to a show and had fallen and hurt my back and elbow, when i was getting out of the Lyft ride, my phone had slipped out of my coat because of the way i had to get out of the car and i didnt realize it until i was back in my hotel room that i had probably lost my phone in the car. i frantically called the front desk and told Sharon what had happened and she calmed me down and reassured me that yall have some great New Yorkers and that she bets that they will call. I was able to secure my device and put the hotel front desk phone number on the screen of the phone. Sharon called me and told me the driver had my phone and she had taken down the phone number!! She made sure that the driver came into the hotel and that he properly returned my phone to me!!!! I cannot tell you how appreciative I was for these lovely ladies that were the bright spot in my time in NYC. It brought me to tears how friendly and helpful they were!! Also, as an aside, the breakfast was amazing, hot, and had alot of variety!! Hampton Inn should be very proud of their staff at this location, they were professional, protective, and a joy!! I will DEFINITELY stay at the Hampton Inn Chelsea Manhattan when i come back and so will my friends!!!
Very nice hotel. The staff is extremely helpful and kind. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bedding was crisp and clean. The staff was very friendly and happy to recommend places for sightseeing, entertainment, and dining. I would recommend the Hampton Inn Manhattan and plan to stay there again on my next visit to NYC!
Positive: Location was excellent but the room was ok. Liked that it has a mini fridge. Definitely just used the room just as a place to sleep. Staff was nice and polite. Negative: Definitely an old hotel and the room was a pretty standard size for NYC, which is small.
We stayed in this hotel for two nights and it was very convenient for seeing different parts of Manhattan! Basically right between Central Park and the WTC, and a few blocks from the Empire State Building. The staff was exceptional, the room was a little on the small side and parking is VERY expensive ($60/day for an SUV), but this is typical for Manhattan. We will definitely stay here again and spend more time exploring the city.
Great front desk. Easy check in. Ample space. Close to public transportation. Clean room. Paid around $160 after taxes for a Saturday night stay. What more can you ask for?Ps. Be careful with drinking the water bottles provided in the room if you’re not a member. They’re $3 each!
I’m literally leaving the hotel in 30 mins. The staff were awesome… the hotel itself is sub-par for what they are charging! The air conditioner was a moving cool roller thing connected into the area where the furnace would be. So freaking loud i had to sleep with ear plugs!! stained carpet in the room. The lobby is ok. I asked for a late checkout by 1 hr and they said ok. Then they call 30 minutes into the late checkout and tell me is $25 for every half hour. I had no choice but man kinda rude two hours later to tell me. I paid $292 a night including taxes..and I couldn’t get 1 hr? i was at a very upscale hotel for three days before this and while they had no in room coffee there(i need coffee), they were easy about everything and that hotel was only $25 more a night. They had no rooms for the weekend. No way this is hampton is a 3 star. Someone messed up somewhere! I would avoid this one. The holiday inn two blocks away is much better, the Eventi up the street was tops! Only giving two stars for the girl at the desk who was exceptionally nice.
Nice hotel in a decent location. Make sure to ask for a room facing away from the street as they have been doing construction on a building across the street and they started really early. Booked a premium room and had high expectations. Room was not premium in any way and did not have the mentioned snacks. I asked at the front desk and they sent someone up that had an armful of snacks and a couple signs/plaques that she hung around the room (while we watched) to declare the room a premium room. The snacks were good with a good variety. Breakfast area itself was small but good amount of seating available. Decent variety of breakfast items including some premade smoothies. Seemed they stopped bothering to replace things in the last half hour of breakfast time so make sure that you dont come at that time. Booked our room with a water taxi/tour deal which was great. Overall we really felt we got a good bang for our buck.
Good hotel! The staff at the front desk were excellent and we enjoyed the breakfast and 24/7 coffee and tea. Hotel was clean and the King room was big enough for 1 or 2 people. My only complaint was my door didn’t shut properly. I checked to see if it would be fixed and was told that it could not be. Not ideal for a single woman in a hotel room.
The rate we paid didnt match the rate when we booked the room. Luckily we noticed at checkout so they were able to update the charge..Breakfast is decent but gets crowded especially towards 10am.Gym is tiny.Very good location though, close to several subway stations. If you have a room thats south facing itll be very quiet as it is not facing the street.
7th time here.Staff is wonderful, going out of their way to provide help, recommendations, etc. Nicely located near the 6th Avenue Subway and the Flatiron district. The air conditioner in our room (1901) stopped working. We switched rooms to 1701, then had an issue with a noisy group on the 17th floor. Staff was very attentive to dealing with the noise issue. Unfortunately, the group was intent on raising hell and there wasnt much anyone could do to stop them.
Location is very good, but internal room door slam when shut which caused us to get woken up several times. In addition, the previous Hampton breakfast is no more! Its been replaced with a box breakfast with some meager contents that are a far cry from what was previously offered. Finally, lack of hot beverage service in the lobby has also been removed. So disappointed from what we had grown to trust in the Hampton name...
Hotel Hampton Inn Chelsea in New York is a clean and well managed hotel and one feel the pleasant atmosphe. As a single traveler it is important to feel safe and comfortable at the hotel one is staying at and these are the reasons I keep coming back. The location is perfect with good shopping and restaurants within walking distance and a subway(the #1 train) just a block away that will take you from the top to the bottom of Manhattan.
I stayed there for 1 night, the location is just perfect. The rooms are spacious, clean and nice. The breakfast was excellent. But what I liked best was the hotel staff. Every single staff member that I met was very nice and helpful but I have special thanks to Darius at the front desk. He was just amazing and helped me and my sister in everything in a friendly and super professional way.
Whether it be a business trip or for leisure, I have always stayed here. The staff have always been outgoing and a real treat to deal with and the location of this hotel places you near many landmarks -- such as Times Square and the Empire State building. Overall, minor things could be improved but not enough for me to dock too many stars off. Just simple cosmetic stuff. The rooms are comfortable and the beds were more or less ordinary. If you like TV they give you a good amount of channels. For the price this hotel is quite the bang for your buck.
Staff is friendly and helpful! But there is always that one SOB that has to ruin things fof ya! Tho this empmoyee was rude and judgmental the other staff that work here are fantastic and only because of them id stay here again. The rooms are adequate, comfy and cozy. The free breakfast is fantastic!
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel while visiting NYC. I would easily give it a 3.5 stars if Google allowed me to but since I cannot, I gave it a solid 3. The hotel itself was conveniently located, fairly central and near several restaurants and a metro. It was quiet so we could get a good night sleep as well and the amenities and hot breakfast each morning were good. We also liked how there were several power outlets throughout the room. Our only issues with the hotel were the elevator...it was so slow and half the time we felt like it would break down. In addition, the toilet did not flush too well - we really had to press it hard. Apart from that, everything was great and Id give this hotel a solid 4 if those things got fixed - especially that elevator lol. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely return!
The costumer service was great! They were very nice! The breakfast was also good; they had a very complete breakfast. The first night we arrived the TV was not working and they sent someone to fix it immediately. The next day they left me a bag with some snacks and a letter of apology. I enjoyed my stay there.
Room was clean and well appointed, bed was super comfortable.12:00 check out was so convenient. Bottomless coffee, tea (even herbal), and hot chocolate available all day. Hot cider near the elevator was lovely on a cold rainy morning! Nice complementary breakfast. Lovely stay, good prices, recommended!
Totally loved staying here. It has been remodeled. The staff is great. Super helpful especially with the subway shut down that weekend they helped us get everywhere. The breakfast was great. Loved having hot chocolate, tea and coffee available 24 /7 and coffee litin room. This hotel is in great location for where we needed to be for this trip. I plan on staying here again.
We stayed overnight to attend a nearby wedding. The room was large for Manhattan and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. We did have a problem with the valet parking but the manager was very proactive in ensuring that we were compensated for our trouble. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall a fine experience.
This hotel is in a great location! It was clean & perfect for a trip to NYC! The rooms are small but that is to be expected in NYC. The breakfast was good and a nice way to start the day. The staff was GREAT! A shout out to VALERIE at the front desk. She was BEYOND helpful, kind, & courteous. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit. The price is right too, not crazy NYC expensive.
The location is perfect when visiting the home office. I arrived late at night and the staff was available, friendly and fast so I could get to my room very weekly. The breakfast was ok for a quick bite, the assortment of hot meals can be improved. The room had an appropriate size and it was clean and updated. Overall a great experience.
Remodeled recently, small but clean rooms. Good location, very close to Flatiron bldg and within mile of Time square/ Empire State/Chelsea Market/Penn Station etc. easy to get to subway as well.Staff was very nice, courteous and helpful. Standard Hampton Inn breakfast, definitely convenient if you are short on time. Coffee/tea available 24/7.
I have to start with how friendly the staff is. The hotel is committed to 100% happiness for its guests, but this seems to be true for the staff as well, and when they greet you with a smile and friendly, positive comments, theyre of to a great start. There were no issues whatsoever with the accommodation, it was a typical New York (as in _small_) room with a comfortable bed and a desk but not much extra space. The mini fridge was convenient to have, especially since there is a Whole Foods and a Trader Joes nearby, allowing you to stock up on some fruit and cold beverages, bread and cheese. I didnt make time for breakfast this trip. They were available and typical Hampton Inn grub. Instead I walked around the block and found some fresh pressed vegetable juice for breakfast. Very convenient to subways and trains. And pizza slices. I was a very happy guest.
From checkin to checkout I was impressed with this hotel. The front desk staff were professional and friendly, answering questions and giving excellent suggestions for place to eat and shop nearby. The housekeeping staff were accommodating and made sure we knew to let them know if we needed anything during our stay.If I had to l nitpick I would say the wait for the elevators was long in the morning but thats to be e expected during the included breakfast, btw the breakfast was nice and convenient to grab a bite before you explore the city. We will definitely visit this location again, great job to all the employees that made our stay a wonderful experience:)
Room had no heat the first night. Only got to 62 in the room.Maintenance care the next morning. It was stuck on air conditioner mode. 2nd nite was toasty warm🙂🙃🙂Wanted to stay at Hampton on 31st street. It was shut down,, except we had made reservations through the reservation center.. They never mentioned the hotel on 31st street wasnt open!😐🙁.We then had to hike to 24th street bad back and all. Very uncomfortable. Not a good experience this time. Not hotels fault Reservations SCREWED UP!
Stay here at least once a week. Staff is great and always helpful. Breakfast is premade egg omelet and some kind of meat. Plenty of bagels, bread, small desserts. Plenty of yogurt fresh fruit and waffles. The only negative is the 2 elevators. In the morning the staff uses them to go up to the floors to start cleaning rooms. Can take a while to come down between 8 and 9 am. Great location near Madison park. Easy walk to most places.
This was the best and earned the title of Best of industry. This is one of the finest examples of excellence in customer care. Everything from front desk to kitchen, housekeeping and maintenance was superb. Setting the tone of this good experience began with the flawless handling of my reservation and the smooth check-in. All staff were friendly, attentive and eager to help guest. Thank you all for making this and every stay a delightful experience. You have exceeded expectations and should be recognized as the place for service & hospitality. Clearly all industry best practices are present here.. kudos! Great job! Thank you, Sincerely,. AL
Room was clean, service was friendly. Hallway and rooms smelled strongly of pot covered up with air freshener. Free WiFi is super slow, but if you didnt pay enough for your hotel room already, you can shell out a few bucks for a speed upgrade. I was pleased at how quiet it was. We stayed on one of the lower floors, and with the window closed, you wouldnt really hear the city noise.
Hotel was undergoing substantial renovation when I visited in Sep 2018; one elevator down, construction material all around. In terms of accomodation it was fine, room was clean and there were no noise problems. Room was smallish but all the fundamentals (bathroom, temperature, TV) were fine. Handy location for getting around.
The staff was very friendly. The hotel is nice based on price and what basic NY infrastructure is in the city. Maid service was great. They did a superb job cleaning our room. However, during our visit they had massive construction going on. At 7am, they were using a blow horn to conduct the crane operator. Being on west coast time, that was like a 4am wake up call no one was asking for. Construction went on through Saturday, Sunday being the only day with peace and quiet. Then Monday morning, what we thought was the sound of rats in the walls was apparently MORE construction happening next door. The breakfast was mediocre. They ran out of all protein options by 9:15 am and were unable to refill and the fruit was 100% green honeydew melon only. Wish they had more variety with their fruit option. Overall, not bad. Its was located in a nice area and we got around fairly well.
The lady at the front desk during check in was great! The hotel is a little rough around the edges but nice. Only a sheer curtian in the room I had. Not a big deal with construction across the street, but glad this is a business trip and the better half isnt with me. ;-) Also one of the elevators was down during my 3 night stay so the wait times were pretty long during rush hour traffic.
The rooms are nice, staff friendly, good breakfast, great location. However, with only one of the two elevators working during the entire week that Ive been here, it makes simply leaving the hotel during peak hours incredibly frustrating.I left my room at 9:45 this morning, hoping to catch breakfast which closes at 10am. It is now 10:15am, and I am still standing in the hallway on floor 11 waiting for an elevator that is not already packed full of people and luggage. Ive already missed breakfast, I just want to leave at this point - and cannot, unless I want to climb down 11 flights of stairs.
Comfortable enough space. I am staying here now for the first time, as with my first reservation, they overbooked and had given my room away (but did find me a spot at 3am at a nearby DoubleTree). Upon return, found at least they kept my reservation this time! I got in early and was told no rooms were available, bit I would receive a call when it was ready. I wandered the city for some time, but never got a call. When I checked in, the system was very slow, but the staff were friendly and trying as best they could. Nice to have access to free coffee and hot chocolate all night, and easy to grab a quick bite in the morning with the includes breakfast.
We really enjoyed this hotel. The pineapple water they had in the lobby was amazing! And the rooms were newly redecorated and very functional and clean. All Manhattan hotel rooms are small, but this one did not seem small. Breakfast was good and the location was awesome.
Clean, convenient and cute. This modern hotel looks tall and narrow from the outside, but inside the rooms are comfortable and feel spacious despite the proportions. Nice food amenities adjacent to the lobby in the morning. The best part is this hotel is off the main drag, so it is quiet, but still very convenient to subways, shopping, and parks just a block away.
My wife and I greatly use these reviews when ever we are on vacation. Great location and for Manhattan, a fair sized room. Thermostat was a bit funky and no mini-fridge but nothing that would keep me from staying here again. Very nice FREE breakfast and tea and coffee available at all hours. The staff was very friendly and offered up nice suggestions for food. Overall, I would definitly recommend to family and friends to stay here.
Room was nice, location is great. Hard time giving it another star due to one on the elevators being down with no sign that repairs were in progress. Many guests found the 10-15 minute times to get from the upper floors to the lobby very annoying.Update*** on 2nd day of stay elevator was repaired so adding back the 5th star.
Our arrival was incredibly delayed (almost 1:00AM!) due to mechanical issues with the train, but a quick call to Hampton Inn Manhattan-Chelsea, assured our rooms were still ready for us when we got there. All of the staff were friendly, professional, and helpful at all times. Room was super clean and very comfortable. I will definitely stay there again when I return to Manhattan!
The ladies at the front desk + room service are 5 stars!!! It was the perfect hotel for our 3 night stay in NYC. VERY quiet and clean!!!! The lobby had a variety of choices for breakfast and refreshments that were kept full 24 hours was neat and tidy.I can not say enough about the ladies at the front desk!
I was recently travelling for work and had my trip extended. Without advance notice the price of an additional night was outside what my work was willing to reimburse.Marcus, the head of operations, went above and beyond to help me stay the extra night without the hassle of changing hotels at a rate that worked for everyone.Room and hotel was clean, great place to stay, but the staff are all friendly and clearly willing to go the extra mile.
We were in Manhattan for my daughters wedding and the hotel was great! We had booked a wedding block and everyone said that the staff was excellent! The hot breakfast is great, the rooms are clean and so roomy! We had 4 adults in a room with double beds and we didnt feel we were elbows to elbows. We could relax there! Did I say the staff was great! They were courteous, helpful and friendly!I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel, it was close to travel (Penn Station), Times Square and downtown travel locations. While I live in Michigan I lived in Manhattan and had friends stay at various hotel, this one was affordable and convenient. Excellent Choice!
Nice, recently refurbished hotel. Rooms are a little smaller than other Hilton-owned hotels in NYC but there is room enough. Fridge & coffee/tea maker in the unit under the TV. Safe, iron & ironing board in the wardrobe. The usual selection of amenities in the bathroom including shower cap & beauty kit. Staff very friendly.
The rooms were nice and clean, the location was great, the breakfast was really good and the staff were very friendly! The only issues we had were the breakfast spot being very crowded to grab your food (lots of seating available though), and the construction across the street. I know that the construction is out of the hotels control but the air horn blasting every few minutes got old really fast!
Location is close to a partner office I visit frequently in the Flatiron District. Its close to everything you need, including great food and the subway. Accommodations are great with lovely views. Hotel staff are super friendly and helpful. I had left a pair of sunglasses in my room and realized it after I checked out. They gladly checked the room and held onto them until I made my way back to the front desk to pick them up. Will definitely stay again.
For the money, I was really happy with this hotel. Perks like free (terrible) Wi-Fi, cookies in the lobby and a breakfast nook with coffee and tea 24/7 made it feel homey for a long-term stay. My room was clean, not overly small, and the bathroom was actually quite nice with all the required toiletries. I was a bit unnerved by the post-it note stuck to the bed announcing that they cleaned the sheets and duvet cover prior to my arrival, and my hair blow dryer would only run for about a minute before shutting off. All in all, with the convenient location, Id stay here again.
It wont wow you but its clean and convenient and it gets the job done. The hotel is teeny tiny with a small lobby and narrow hallways and what seems like no more than 8 rooms per floor. My TV didnt work and check in took a while but otherwise it was just what I needed for a stay of a couple days.
Every time I come to America I am shocked by the level of food people seem to get away with offering human beings - but the breakfast of that hotel hit a new low. It is impossibly atrocious. Below a couple pictures of the only hot savoury options they offer there. Obviously I didnt finish and I think my dog wouldnt either. Paper plates and disposable cutlery a bonus that only adds to the unique experience of feeling like a second class guest. Memorable. Probably better in prison.
Outside isn’t much to look at and parking isn’t going to be fun, but you can easily walk to most of the big tourist locations from here, and there’s plenty of food options around. Rooms are nice and were always clean when I returned. Never got to grab breakfast and can’t speak of the price since my company paid for the room but I enjoyed my time here. Would love to stay again.
Staff offered minimum advertised service with a smile. Breakfast ran out early. Lifts inadequate and operated intermittently. Rooms clean but in poor state of repair. Convenient location but recommend another option, even at this (reasonable) price. Could have been worse but should have been better.
New updated hotel rooms were nice, however between the contruction/repair work constantly going on, as well as the cleaning crew talking incredibly loudly in the hallways in the morning, it was impossible to get rest here. If you plan to get in late and be out early, its fine for your stay. Otherwise you might consider somewhere else. Also, the internet was frequently down or unusable - not suitable for business travel.
This is not a fancy hotel, but it is fine for low maintenance people traveling for breakfast. Coffee is good, breakfast should hold you over through the morning, and customer service is solid. Special props to Khadejia for having a smile on her face every time I saw her.
Typical NYC hotel, small and tall. Rooms are decent sized. Service was mostly ok, had one grumpy front desk person, but other than that we were well taken care of. Accommodated our high school group fairly well. The students were supposed to be on the same floor as the teacher and that didnt happen.
Staying in Chelsea is incredibly convenient. Near most major subway lines and next to flatiron. Very easy to walk around the city. The staff was incredibly helpful and nice. The maid and facilities staff were very helpful as well. Our room had a fine view and there were a lot of tv channels and room amenities.
Be careful!!!This hotel is overpriced. The rooms are tiny. The linen and towels were not very clean and they all had this yellowish color and appeared dirty. The view is pretty bad as well. The breakfast was quite disgusting. This is one if my least favorite Hilton properties Ive stayed in.
Room was small and somewhat old fashioned, but it was clean and everything worked. The neighborhood is quiet and a subway station is just around the block. As are supermarkets. And a barcade. :-) Staff is very friendly and helpful and breakfast is substantial. Would visit again.
For being in Chelsea I was expecting a nicer neighborhood. Homeless people hanging out front. Water for shower is Luke warm. I requested late check out when I reserved which was supposed to be confirmed when I checked in. They didnt acknowledge. Not the best experience given the other Hilton properties I have stayed at. Positive is the rooms are very clean.
The check-in took forever! The front desk people insisted that I had only booked for one day when in fact I had booked two. They ignored me when I showed them copies of my confirmation off my phone and insisted on having the travel agent who booked the hotel on emailing them. While we waited, the front desk staff continued to tell me to get out of the way of other customers because apparently me waiting in line for them to check their emails to confirm my reservation was in other peoples way. After an hour, I finally checked in. But the room was dirty, and my mirrors had streaks and towel prints on them. Im so exhausted and worried that complaining would just waste more of my time. This has been the worst experience ever. I wouldnt stay here if I were you.
My friend booked a couple rooms through a third party (expedia or someone). The guy at the desk informed us that they had something entirely different booked and they didnt have joining rooms when we were informed that we would have our rooms joining. He was a little rude when requiring proof of our reservation. After a little while they accomodated us, but it was irritating for that to happen on such a carefully planned out booking. Other than that, the rooms were clean and the staff was great.
Great service and overall experience. The only things that was less great was carpet in the room and the A.C. unit couldnt keep the humidity at bay. Add those two together and... otherwise good experience and team down at the reception. Kila took the time to ask how to pronounce my name (french) and remembered it through out.
Renovated in Feb. 2017. Staff are wonderful, accomodating and generous in everything they do. Location is close to Whole Foods, Madison Square Park and shopping. The breakfast is great for the price. We will only stay here when we come to NYC. Most reasonable place to stay for the amenities and location. Wifi also works well. We had no problems streaming videos on three devices.
The host Carmel is outstandingly friendly and attentive. She even remembered my name, which was very impressive.Rooms are clean and beautiful. Fitness is a bit small and breakfast is very environment-unfriendly because the plates and cups and silverware is all plastic.
Check in took about 40 minutes due to house keeping, we were finally offered another room and handed a bottle of water as if $0.35 of water excuses delaying our day even though we arrived AFTER our 3pm check in time. The room itself was clean but the garbage cans missed bags (not cool for New years Eve.. God only knows what may happen). On the upside breakfast was acceptable if you are not a diet freak. Toast, bagels, cold boiled eggs, cereal, waffles, French toaster sticks, mini muffins, and awful egg white things. Zero strawberry jam.. idk why, yet they had butter, peanut butter, grape jam and honey lol - Enjoy!
We had a great NYC vacation and this hotel helped us enjoy our time in the city. The room was pretty big, for NYC and glad to have the 2 qn beds. The breakfast was typical Hampton Inn and sufficient to get our day started. We frequently used the subway station that was only a block away. This ended up a great location to explore all of NYC.
Breakfast menu was ok-eggs, yogurt, apples, bananas, oatmeal, and waffles. Good location to catch subway and bus to view the city. Morning shift customer check in desk. Wish I had gotten her name. Think it starts with a J. 3 stars is for a toilet issue and house keeping never coming besides me meeting her in the hall to get fresh towels.
We stayed here for a night, having gotten a really good deal on Hotel Tonight. As it turned out, the room rate wasnt all that much lower than their regular AAA rate. For the price, I thought the hotel was very good and Id definitely stay there again. The rooms were recently updated and we got upgraded to a corner room in the 18th floor which was of a reasonable size as NYC hotel rooms go. I mean, one could comfortably move around without feeling cramped. Bathroom wasnt too small either and everything worked. The bed was a little hard with no give but on the plus side, the hotel was quiet, esp. for a Friday night. Its a nice location -- subway stop (23rd St.) is a block away. You can walk west to the Highline (highly recommended) and south to the Village and also north to Penn Station if you dont have much luggage. The neighborhood the hotel is in isnt a destination in itself but it is quiet and its got some interesting landmarks such as the Flatiron building and the Chelsea Hotel. The breakfast was better than most free hotel breakfasts though if you want some really good coffee, your best bet is to walk over to Ports Cafe on 23rd, between 6th and 7th Aves. The receptionists were all very friendly. They keep your luggage in storage for you until 11pm the next day if you want to spend time in the city after checking out.
If I could give negative stars, I would. My husband and me spent the weekend here for the company party. We arrived Friday afternoon, around 2:30pm. We parked our car on the side street and explained to the younger dark skinned women that there was a sign saying Commercial Parking Only . She explained that one of the gentlemen would be outside soon to move our car. We believed her and continued about our day. In between, we couldnt get much sleep due to the heating system, it would turn on automatically and was very loud and disrupting. Fast forward to Sunday morning - check out - the same women confronted us and explained that our car had received a ticket due to them not moving the car in time. We parked BEFORE 2:30 & the ticket time was almost 5! But yet, she had told us that our car wouldve been moved soon. $150 ticket couldve been prevented if this hotel wouldve been doing their job. This same women explains to us that she already spoke to the women who handles the finances of the company and that well be refund by them. Which ultimately doesnt make sense. This is a matter between my husband and this hotel, not the company he works for. 2 weeks later - today 1/19/18 THIS MATTER IS STILL ON GOING. The SAME dark skinned women continues to lie, going back and fourth, saying she spoke to different people from my husband company. when he confirms with his co-workers, not one person from this hotel has reached out. we continue to call and ask for a supervisor, once again, we are speaking to the same women. If she a Manager or the front desk head, this is not the way to resolve a situation. Today, we called once again, she gave us the same story, with such a disgusting attitude, she hanged up on my husband In the middle of their Conversation. Do yourself a favor, Dont book this hotel. Unprofessional!!!
We have a professional event each year close to this Hampton Inn. We have made sure to get a room here each time. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and have asthetic appeal. I highly recommend it. Its about a 20 minute walk to Times Square (I walk a little fast).
PLEASE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN STAYING HERE READ MY REVIEW!!! Ive stayed at so many Hamptons before, I am a Hilton Honors member, and I usually love them. And Im not rich or anything so a Hampton is like high class for me. But this one is terrible. I read the bad reviews but knew Hamptons reputation and just thought people complain so it cant be that bad. It is that bad. And then some. A motion sensor on the thermostat turns it off when you leave the room. So basically if you leave for more than an hour or so, the room will be whatever the temp is outside. There is no mini fridge in the room, so no bringing food, or saving any leftovers to save money and not be wasteful. The staff is great, very friendly and hospitable, but the hotel itself and the accommodations are just terrible. Please, it is worth any extra money youd spend to stay at another hotel. Even for just one night. We came up for a show at the Astor Place Theatre, and it really put a damper on our time in NYC. I love to come up to the city, and we usually do a couple times a year, but I will never stay here again. Now all the money we saved on the room will be spent on food since we cant save any leftovers.
Good: Location is fantastic and close to a subway station that makes it easy to get all of the touristy places. One of the few places to get 2 queen beds in nyc. Bad: Air conditioner didnt work the first night and they were sold out of rooms so no where to move. They did get it fixed eventually. Breakfast at Hampton are usually not great but this one took it to a whole new level of bad.
A lot of the things in this hotel are reasonable, the room is OK. BUT the internet here is amazingly slow and disconnects all the time. I tried telling the reception but they didnt want to help, they just wanted to sell me their premium internet for an other 5$. I wouldnt mind the 5$ difference in the overall price, but the regular internet should at least stay connected.
Either these people do not comprehend the core values of the hospitality industry or they could simply care less. My guess is the latter, unfortunately. Earlier this week (12/22/15) I booked a two night stay but needed to leave & return to Philadelphia to attend to urgent family matters after only 8 hours at the hotel. I left the hotel several times but only encountered an employee at the desk upon check-in. My final exit at 5am was no exception so I decided to keep trucking, a terrible move in hindsight. There was a thick fog driving home so the trip took 2.5 hours but once situated, I called the hotel to let the front desk know that I had left & would not be returning. I wanted to know if there were fees associated with cancelling the second night as I had booked through Expedia & wanted to know the refund amount. I was told by a lady whose name I dont remember (DOh!) that there were no fees & that a full refund for that night would be forthcoming & that she would handle the checkout. Apparently immediately after we hung up a fire must have broke out or something because later that afternoon while on hold with Expedia as they got verification from the hotel that I had checked out so they could issue a refund the guy came back on the line to tell me that the room was still checked in. I immediately called the hotel back & after a brief hold, the front desk agent returned to tell me that her manager would make the necessary adjustment. I decided to give it a bit of time before I called Expedia to verify checkout & when I did the rep told me that the hotel refused to give any information (Ive worked in hotels so I know this is a common practice that is regularly done) as if it were highly classified. Again I immediately called the hotel & again they still had not adjusted the checkout date. This was an hour ago, Xmas afternoon. It wouldnt be so bad if these were the only calls I had made to the hotel but I have also been calling since Wednesday about a Sonicare DiamondClean toothbrush several times a day attempting to get housekeeping to check for a Sonicare DiamondClean toothbrush but have been unable to get ANYONE from that department on the phone. I have left four messages, all unanswered & after speaking in great detail about it with someone at the front desk she ended up being about as helpful as her co-worker concerning the checkout date. Long story short, you should always write down the name & time of the person you speak with when dealing with customer service matters, never leave $200 toothbrushes in hotels & DEFINITELY NEVER stay at this location ever!
It was alright. There was a lot of sound coming from outside my room. (Alarm, people walking, etc) So the doors werent very soundproof.I had a room that faced the front. And I was on the second proof. So I also had a lot of noise coming from the window that was opposite from the room entrance
Never again. here now and they are testing the fire alarm and its been going on and off now for an hour. everyone at hotel is irrited and for good reason. sure hope they remburse money back for part of stay for all the incinvience. i have never stayed at a hotel that has done this before
Heres my experience I had, fresh from minutes ago. After a late night flight, I walked into Hampton Inn, New York, Chelsea at midnight. I said I had a reservation and gave my ID and reservation number. While they were pulling it up, I mentioned that I booked through Egencia because I didnt realize at the time that it didnt qualify the stay for Honors points or contribute to Elite status, and was hoping they could make an exception since Im trying to be a loyal Hilton Honors member. And they said nope. Nothing we can do. Also, we dont have a reservation. Your confirmation number is for an Emil Tenbarge. They would not let me up to my room. I said what are you talking about?? Call that phone number and THIS phone will ring! THIS is the credit card that has already paid for the entirety of this stay! What do you think the chances that someone else named Emil booked the exact same itinerary?? They said its not their fault, its Egencias. They were like believe me if it was our fault wed do something about it! They said Egencia people must have keyed it in wrong, and I should call them and tell them what an inconvenience they have caused me. So i called Egencia from the lobby and after a relaxing long hold, they said they confirmed it was the hotels fault. I watched the hotel employees scrambling behind the desk to figure out what happened and after 5 or 10 minutes they called me up and said it was a mistake on their part. I mentioned what an inconvenience it was and pointed out they said theyd do something if it was their fault. I brought up points or at least stay contribution to elite status and they said they wouldnt give either to me and that they did do something: fixed the error and offered their sincerest apologies. Then they gave me complimentary swedish fish.Ill say 2 stars to account for the fact that I havent given any thought to the facilities, since Im still fuming about what just happened: the sheer unwillingness to assist someone whos literally going out of his way to exclusively stay at Hilton properties. Why am I trying so hard to stick with Hilton? They do next to nothing for me, besides take my money.

2022-04-21I stayed here in March 2022 and overall the hotel met all my expectations. The location is good, close to some major subway lines. The hotel room has a good size and is well appointed, as you would expect for a Hampton Inn.The hotel has some truly kind and helpful staff members, who should be commented for their exemplary service. Breakfast in the morning is nothing to call home about, but there is plenty and if you arent looking for culinary delights, you will have a good start to the day.I did however find it disappointing, that housekeeping would only service my room once during the stay. That came as a bit of a surprise, but isnt a bog problem to be fair. It should just be advertised better. With reduced room cleaning, they should offer bigger waste receptacles or at least offer an easy to reach alternative on every floor.Overall, I would stay here again, without a doubt.

2022-06-12The front staff is super friendly and helpful. Whether reviewers of this hotel like it or not, you will see that same comment. In my opinion, that makes for a much better stay. Stayed here with my family of four that comes to the city often. The room is good sized for NYC. The location is convenient. The fridge is helpful. While the room is not new and stellar, this place is a good value and stress-free.

2022-01-09Sheena was super friendly and helpful when we dropped our luggage prior to check in. And when we came back to check in, remembered our bags w/o asking. A+ employee. Front desk clerk was very friendly after a day of sightseeing. Great location. Good price. Breakfast is tomorrow so I cant rate that yet.

2022-07-02We stayed here in January 2020- just a few weeks before all of our World’s changed with the Pandemic. The staff were friendly and very helpful with directions and attractions. This location is very centrally located especially if you bring your sneakers. We walked all over up to Times Square and down to the financial district and the 911 Memorial. We used the coffee tea station each day and saw the Hampton Inn breakfast each morning. I would highly recommend this hotel- especially if you like Hampton Inn!

2022-03-23The staff is friendly, considerate and helpful. They were the only thing good about this hotel. My room was quite clean, but also worn. The furniture was scratched or dented, and the air conditioner was a bit noisy. The mattress was ok, but a bit used. It also was slanted down toward the wall, so much so that I had to reverse the linen to sleep comfortably. The worst thing was the noise. The rooms have old hotel doors that slam if the guests did not slow its swing. Given our room location, we heard several doors slam shut through the night. We also could hear other guests through the walls.I have given the hotel two stars due to the service and housekeeping. Otherwise, an uncomfortable sleepless stay .

2022-06-24The staff was fantastic, Mary and everybody at the front desk were SO accommodating. Housekeeping was prompt and friendly. The location is great, just one block west of Madison Square. I only wish that the owners would make the investments to maintain and upgrade the hotel. It is tired and things like the elevators and AC weren’t working properly. The maintenance is defiantly NOT up to the level of other Hampton Inns! That said, we will be back on our next trip to Manhattan.

2022-06-23Positive: Location is great, close to major sights but along a quiet side street so not much noise comes in from outside. Room was spacious, got a free upgrade to a king and the bed was very comfortable. Loved the 12PM check out and shower pressure. Negative: Hallways outside of rooms are tiny so noise in the morning is unavoidable making it hard to sleep in. Towels are small and pillows are flimsy.

2021-12-14This is a nice hotel in downtown Manhattan, close by for most attractions by the subway. The room is small, but clean and comfortable. Would have appreciated maid service while there for 5 days. They just sat some clean towels on our bed when we requested some, didnt remove the dirty ones. Breakfast was adequate. One front desk person really helped us with our subway questions.
