This place isn’t worth the price or the wait. $20 for a vermicelli bowl and Thai iced tea. They don’t even bring the food to your table. Instead, everyone queues up for 10+ minutes and tables are dirty since there’s no staff to wipe down between guests. I greatly prefer a traditional pho restaurant with kind staff, speedy service and fair prices. This place is not that! The food also does not taste very good. Vermicelli noodles were overcooked and the lettuce they used isn’t the traditional kind for vermicelli salad, it was wilted from the hot pork. One star for the nice upper dining area with a skylight.
They saw us standing outside in the cold waiting for 10 min for them to open. When they opened, they didn’t switch the sign to open, I had to go in ask. The lady rudely said they are open and what do we want. We order two sandwiches and are told to wait outside again for 10 min in the cold weather. It’s COVID times, completely understandable. Ten min passed and I go inside to check and the lady rudely tells me again to wait 10 more min. In the end, waited 40 min (10min before they opened and 30 min after) in the cold for some sandwiches. To top it off, another lady, comes out and rudely tells us the sandwiches are ready before slamming the door they have left opened in our faces. They had at least two delivery orders go out while we were waiting too. In summary, rude staff with poor communication. Management should get new stuff before they drive more people away. Avoid this location, go to the location on Smith street instead.
They are fast at making their bubble tea. I got the coffee and it was a bit too sweet but I appreciated the full coffee taste.Service is nothing special.Prices are pretty good. Vietnamese is often the cheapest kind of food. The tofu banh mi I ordered was a bit too spicy because of the pepper things they put on, but was otherwise good. Standard stuff.
First time visit. I tried their recommendation of Noodle Salad. I added crispy pork. Delicious!!! Also tried the Vietnamese coffee. Yum! A strong coffee with half and half. Would definitely come back when Im in the area again. Very friendly staff (unusual for New York). Thank you for a delicious lunch!
If youre going to Hancos you need to get anything with the roasted pork. Whether its the sandwich, pho, or rice entree its fresh and delicious. Ive never had a bad experience here and eat here all the time. The bubble tea, pho, and sandwich stamp cards are also pretty nifty as you can get free treats for being a regular. All in all the interior is drab and boring so definitely more of a takeout place than a date spot, but the food is good and staff is friendly
This is my go lunch place because I love the food. I frequent the Montague location and the 7th Avenue location a couple times a week. My go to orders are summer rolls and pork vermicelli. Occasionally bubble tea.1. Ordering is fast. Pick up is fast. There is plenty of staff available during the times I go.2. Summer rolls is the best in the business. And of the Vietnamese restaurants I go to throughout the city, their peanut sauce is my favorite.3. Pork vermicelli is delish. I haven’t tried the other goodies since I’m a creature of habit.4. Bubble tea: good firmness of the tapioca. It’s a small detail but makes a difference when you try other bubble teas.5. Price is fair.6. Takeout: when I’m lazy to go from my office to Hanco’s, I’ll order over Seamless. No problems here.7. I’m a repeat customer if that carries any weight.
Great food - we always get the spring rolls. Have had their bun (vermicelli salad) and pho, which are very flavorful and good sized portions.Ate at the restaurant itself today and its a casual place with split level seating. The ambiance isnt incredible, but in line with expectations.
I really enjoy food here, Ive tried their sandwiches, bowls, salads and soups and always want to come back. The service is great and the place look clean. For me the relation cost benefit is fair, you can find good options for a restricted budget. They have two locations, Ive been in both and had good experiences in both.
The bubble tea is absolutely the best Ive ever had in New York city. My absolute favourite is bubble lemonade with extra bubbles, and it is just so delicious and a perfect balance. It isnt too sweet either. If I had one complaint, it is that the containers are non reusable plastic. It would be amazing if they had some sort of system where if you buy a reusable container and bring it back you get 25 to 50 cents off? That way those who wished could help save the environment and it would give them business from those who dont like the single use plastic. If the restaurant had that it would be absolutely perfect.
Hancos is the best Vietnamese food I have ever had. Their bubble tea is so good. It tastes authentic. They make their own tapioca bubbles. I love the shredded chicken wraps as well as their sandwiches and rice entrees. I have yet to try their Pho. I frequently go there after school. :)
Simple pho and vermicelli with no special taste or flavor. We ordered and I asked the cashier to wipe one of the three available but dirty tables and she mumbled to another girl but no one did any wiping. Apparently they are too cool to be bothered. We had to figure out that the food was prepared in the back and we had to walk back to get it. Bubble tea was ok but much sweeter than necessary. Needs improvement.
To be fair I had high hopes of finding vegetarian options here. Ive been craving Phó along time now and hoped theyd have a vegetarian broth but unfortunately for me they only offered beef and chicken. Alright. I still wanted to give it a try bc I love Vietnamese food and only recently became vegetarian. So I opted for their rice entree w vegetarian pork (she informed me it was soy based). I also thought Id try one of their rolls, the garden roll. Counter person was friendly and kindly directed me to pick up area down the short hall. There is upstairs seating with room for at least 18 ppl and skylights. The bobba tea smelled amazing (they were brewing a new batch) and though I really wanted to try one I had already spent $15 on perhaps not the best representation of this places cuisine.
There are a few Vietnamese places in Park Slope New York and it is a huge debate among the residents which one is best. To me the answer is simple, its Hancos, hands down. The Banh Mi (which they call Vietnamese Sandwich for all the gentrified people I guess) is spectacular. No matter which version you get, though the classic is the best, is amazing. The vegetables are pickled to perfection, the ratio of meat to veggies is spot on, and the bread is terrific. Also, the pho is amazing. The best version is the roast pork, but you really need to try them all. Theyre gigantic, the broth is spectacular, and the meats are delicious. The final thing Ill say is that if you order delivery from them, it comes amazingly quick. It has never taken more than twenty minutes to get my food, whereas everywhere else it takes like an hour.
Vietnamese sandwiches and pho are both solid - Ive alternated between the two the numerous times Ive gone since they opened. Takes a bit longer than Id like for the food to come out especially given that you need to wait at the pickup counter for it, but overall a good place to go for a tasty, casual, reasonably quick, and moderately inexpensive meal.
Ive a pet peeve. I hate people that litter in the street; like smokers with their butts. But the men working there took the cake. They were smoking in front of the restaurant and throw their empty cigarette pack right in the street. They have no regard for themselves or the customers. Minus one star and Im being generous.Egg roles were too greasy. It was average but with a fusion taste. 3 stars.Bubble milk tea was very good and Id come back for it. It was not sweet and they did not use cheap-sour-tasting powder cream. 4 stars for tea.So the workers with no self respect lower the rating.
Horrible service and lousy food.Three rersons at the counter, other two just walking around, no other customers and I still had to wait wor over 2o minutes for my sandwich. When I opened my sahdwich, there was a cucumber, carrot, turnip and nay be 1/2 Oz of some pinkish goo symbolizing meat.HORRIBLE!!!!
I cant get enough of Hancos! I like that they have the whole wheat bread option for their sandwiches (you can also ask them to hold the butter and/or mayo). The pho is also quite good. Im picky about broth flavor and my broth being super hot when it comes out and they meet both of those. Sometimes the wait time is a bit longer than Id like but Im not sure if its due to them toasting the bread. Prices are reasonable as well.
Scratches the itch for pho if you have it. But its not great. Its good. Beef was extremely fatty (there was an entire chunk of pure fat in my pho). The interior of the restaurant was very dirty and not terribly busy, plenty of staff. Posted health grade on the window was a B...
Perhaps the worst counterfeit Phos Ive ever had the displeasure of eating. I ordered a Classic #1 and I have to say it was the first time I had what looked and tasted like stale steamed ground pork in a banh mi. If there was pate in there I couldnt see or taste it. The pickled veggies were cut too large and were barely pickled. Reminded me of airport food. And this wannabe Banh Mi shaped sandwich cost $8, the audacity. The girls up front taking orders were Toisan chinese obviously, and rude. If you think these baguette shaped things are banh mi, youve probably never had a legit one. Shameful.
I love the food but TWICE now I’ve ordered delivery from them and when I open the food I find that someone has ripped open a summer roll and eaten the shrimp out ..... my boyfriend and I joke that every time you order you have to pay the “shrimp tax” but honestly it’s gross that someone is touching the food and ruining it. Hanco’s please feed your delivery drivers more shrimp so I can keep mine.
At first glance Hanco’s can be mistaken for a hole in the wall, Vietnamese sandwich and Bubble tea hot spot but it offers ample seating, WiFi and an overall cheerful little cove for delicious Vietnamese staples for cheap and affordable prices. The pickup counter is a little off to the side and confusing at first encounter but the food arrived promptly and tasted fresh and delicious.I tried the veggie roll as an appetizer and the spicy chicken signature sandwich, all of which tasted super good.
Dirty tables...when i sat down by the window...the waste bin was right in front of me...with other stuff dumped next to it..the bin looked like an outdoor waste bin...very dirty indeed...i ordered Deep fried Spring rolls...it came out drenched in oil....i can see all the oil still dripping and all over the paper container....the texture of the springroll skin was too thick made it hard to chew and overwhelmed the taste of the fillings...i forced myself to finish 1 springroll feeling guilty to waste the other 3 pcs....and i also cant finish the Vermicelli salad with pork...probably i was too upset with the springroll and the restaurants hygiene...The staff kept on chatting in cantonese loudy the whole time.....Arrghhh....what a bad decision to come here....
The food is not bad, kinda of amazing !however the most terrible one is their staffs attitude, kinda of rude especially the old lady from the pick up counter , its nothing about her English, its she always put on the long face , rude , impatient, maybe she shd consider herself is really suit in the service industry or not , if so..plz put on some smile on ur face , A-Jah!!!!!
It is absolutely ridiculous, my order was placed and paid for but they made me wait in line to get my receipt which is ridiculous because my break is 30 minutes and I had to wait in line 10 minutes- just to get my receipt for my food which was already placed and cooked and paid for!!!
Ive visited a handful of times and tried the classic pork banh mi and tofu banh mi, which were both great. I like the variety of flavors (including flavored jellies) for the bubble teas. Theres some seating inside, but on a nice day I prefer to take it to go and eat outside at the Promenade nearby. The service can be spotty and slow when the cafe is crowded, so be prepared.

2022-01-24How to start? The sweet aroma ofVietnamese cuisine wafts through theairs and fills you with a sense of joy and afeeling of comfort the likes of which youwould only experience in a cozy lakesidelog cabin by the fireplace. I recommendto any who wish to eat here that you donot make haste during your stay. Make sure to cherish every moment and savor every bite as you experience a little taste of what Vietnamese culture is really like.

2022-04-20Decent banh mi sandwich but a little overpriced for being a hole in the wall spot.

2017-11-26Hands down the best place in Brooklyn for a Banh Mi or Pho. The meats are always bbq’d/grilled to perfection and the veggies are always fresh and pickled perfectly. The pork and chicken over rice are very good as well. Service is always fast and nice. Both locations on Smith and Montague are worth a swing and it’s awesome that they have reward cards.

2020-11-06The Hanco’s on Montague is in my opinion, the best of their locations. The staff is always very polite and friendly to me and food is served in a very timely manner. It’s always fresh, delicious, and affordable. I usually get the shrimp summer rolls and a small boba tea and it comes out to about $11 including tax. So it’s definitely a healthier choice for the price compared to many other restaurants in the area. So far, I’ve liked every meal I’ve tried from Hanco’s and totally recommend them for a quick, casual, and flavorful lunch.

2019-09-03Below average pho. Came here on Labor Day, 8 pm on a Monday. Had the beef pho which costs $10.75 per bowl. I also took a combo banh mi (which costs $8.25) to-go, but haven’t tried that yet. The pho wasn’t very hot when it came out and some of the meat was unchewable. The broth was very watery and not flavorful. For that kind of quality, the price should be lower. Otherwise, I don’t see how they keep business.Service is a bit strange. You have to pick up your food at the counter in the back when they call your number. Thus, there isn’t really any service. I shouldn’t have given a tip, since it made the overpriced food worse than it already is. Don’t recommend anyone come here unless you’re getting tea or something.
