This place is heaven for meat lovers. My regular place to buy pork meat. It’s neither lean nor fatty but perfectly balanced. The place smells (like any other meat shop) but the staff makes their best to keep it clean and smell good. This is also a good place to get some good Far East Asian groceries, utensils and food.
Lots of stuff you cant get at big chains plus all your staples. A really great produce department with a wide variety and their stock is actually fresh unlike the shoprite down the road. Plus they have things other grocers dont sell like dried mushrooms and sea weed. Their shelf products can be a little pricey but their produce is very fair. They also have a whole isle of instant soups which has introduced me to a lot of great ones I cant find elsewhere. Their staff is also very nice. Especially at the attached bakery.
Good to shopping and not much people, good service. but little not enough kind of product.(but almost enough korean product)recently this market is better then before.fresh vegetable is ok.meat is ok.snack sosoinstant noodles ok.it is not so much discount event in normal days.it is good to shopping on first day of month.
This is a great Asian store, not just Korean but great Japanese snacks and drinks too. Sometimes I go on the 1st of the month to take advantage of their buy 1 get 1 free sale. Its not 100% free but I calculated prices and its at least 50% off. Since we buy a lot of rice, pancakes mixes, flours, etc., savings add up. They also have lots of fresh and frozen fish. You can buy fresh sushi rolls, korean pancakes, mochi, kimchi, and even massage chairs! Staff is always polite and kind. They answer my questions satisfactorily. Overall a great and affordable one stop for your groceries needs.
Great variety of Asian produce, packaged foods, and fresh offerings. They sometimes stock hard to find items, but the only reason I did not give 5 stars is because often I have experienced that I find a special item that I fall in love with here, but when I return they never seem to have it a second time, and even when I ask at the customer service counter they can never seem to re-stock it, case in point their packaged Thai iced tea tea bags. Appeared once and then never again. Owners should consider stocking customer requested items to try and move to a 5 star rating.
They have a large variety of fresh vegetables, fruits and fish, at an affordable prices. Its a very nice and clean place. I love the bakery specially the cakes they are so cute and unique. They also have a small shop where you can find corean and Japanese cookware and dinnerware and some kitchen tools, the beauty and accessories space is fancy and easy to find the last beauty products.
Very spacious and product quality got better. They offer discount price on fruits and you can get good deals on certain fruits. It depends on the days that you go. Its better to make a free membership card. You can collect the points every time you spend and get a coupon after you reach certain points.
Overall, this is a fairly good Korean American supermarket. This store is a good alternative to going to H Mart on the weekends. This is especially true if you only need a few items. Sometimes, on the weekends H Mart in Jericho is just a little bit too crowded. You can come here if you dont want to deal with the crowds at Hmart.
I have been shopping here about twice a month for the last six years , but have grown disgusted at the poor sanitary standards there ( you would not even want to wash your hands in the lavatory in back ; use the ones in the Canaan Bakery in front ! ) . Yesterday I noticed a young Hispanic employee who barely spoke English place boxes of dumplings directly on top of those already out in the freezer section , instead of simply turning around to the box on his cart . He pretended to take my advice and not do so , but continued after I went down the nearest aisle . None of the adult male Korean employees spoke English , and the young girl at Customer Service made excuses for the employee , as well as for another sanitary problem I brought to her attention . No manager was present , and none was present today when I called today . Because of other issues Ive noticed , buying fruits and vegetables there can be problematical . Certainly , the employees stocking vegetable and frozen food bins have little regard for basic sanitary standards . Confine your shopping to sauces , condiments , sweets , etc . you can not conveniently find elsewhere . My lady and I do love the seafood counter . Canaan Bakery in front , owned and managed separately , is well worth a visit , its multigrain and other breads being especially worth trying ( and are 30% off after 7 PM ) . Again , I once loved this place , but will now rely on H Mart on 107 for frozen East Asian products , and Stop and Shop of King Kullen for fresh produce .
I have not been here in a long time. I was so dissapointed. The entire place is dirty. Thefresh fish smell is so bad it assaults you when you walk in the door. Loaded flat carts with boxes waiting to be unpacked were blocking isles. The store used to be spotless. Not coming back anytime soon.
This isnt the H&Y I usually shop at but since my friends lived near by we decided to go here for some K BBQ ingredients.I liked the produce. It was super fresh and they had many items on sale. The meat selection was good but could have a bit more variety and more fresh meat than the frozen meat they had. The marinade was on the meat section so that was convenient. For American foods like bread and this place doesnt have much in variety. Also I feel like all the aisles were placed without much planning. At least thats what it seemed to me. Otherwise I prefer H&Y over H mart.
Well stocked market, carries a large variety of Asian products, specializing in Korean goods. Weekends they frequently offer samples of some of the different foods. There is a bakery, fresh produce (including many different kinds of mushrooms), refrigerated and frozen foods, fresh fish and meat, geared toward an Asian meal.
Easy to see right off of the Corner of South Oyster Bay Road and Old Country Road servicing Plainview and the adjoining areas of Nassau County. Plenty of parking and a wheelchair accessible entrance. Clean facilities. Reasonably priced. Credit cards accepted. Good for Asian fruits and vegetables. Nice staff. Theres a restaurant next door.
Best seafood department in the Bethpage area, but if you dont read or speak Korean, shopping can be frustrating. Employees and customers always seem friendly, but most cant help me because of the language barrier. Still, if youre into cooking, its worth it to put in the extra effort. Also, best produce department around. I also like that they permit evangelism on their property. Thank You Jesus!
Personally, I use this store for tuna, salmon, pickled ginger and Wasabi. I enjoy sashimi. Sometimes you can find good prices on meat, chicken and pork. Hard time with staff because of language barrier. Some do not speak English. The shoppers are friendly and helpful.
Good store for Korean and Japanese snacks and groceries. They are very clean and very well organized. They also have a good variety of Korean and Japanese beers. There is a separate Sushi bar and bakery at this location, annexed to the store itself. Theres not many check out counters so there maybe lines. The parking lot is dilapidated as of 2016 with several potholes, uneven path and overall a poor shape. Dont let that stop you from shopping here however ;)
Great store for asian delicacies. Veggies are top notch. Bok choy , oyster mushrooms and pork belly are some of the standouts, but the variety of noodles, rices, sauces and spices are equally impressive. I have yet to not find an ingredient to substitute from here for my asian dishes. Most items are labeled with English as the 2nd language, but staff is very helpful.if you know what you are looking for just ask.
This is an great Asian supermarket! If youve ever wanted to try your hand at making your own sushi or sashimi, but were too afraid, this is the place for you. They have sushi-grade cuts of various fish, ready for you to slice up at home, in the seafood section. Plus they have the seaweed sheets and sticky sushi rice, wasabi paste, a zillion different kinds of soy sauce. And if you want some of the specialty rolls that are beyond a novice skill level, theres an independent sushi takeout shop within the store within the supermarket! BTW - the market has thousands of other Asian foods unrelated to sushi, as well.
Interesting variety of exotic unusual foods. Prices looked a little high though and the packages tended to be too large for a single guy. Do I really want 17 servings of rice vermicelli?Since so many of the products were strange to me, I wished they served samples and demonstrated recipes like at the large Japanese market in River Edge, NJ, but H&Y didnt do that. The aisles were narrow and crowded. The bakery/coffee shop at the front was a welcome respite.
Some items on the shelves can be short dated, so I recommend checking the exp dates before buying... other than that I think they have good selections of korean food products and meat (bulgogi meat is very good quality for the price). I can sometimes find better deals than H mart here when they have weekly specials or sales.
First the positive, they carry a variety of Oriental products, mostly Korean. Thats abouit it. The negative is that they tend to overcharge you at the register. I always weight my shrimp and veggies before paying and twice they overcharge me, by keeping their hands on top of the items while they are on the scale. When I complain they get an attitude, but they had to refund me some money after weighting the products at the office scale. Will be looking to shop somewhere else. Suggestion, keep your eyes on the register and speak up, this way they will stop this bad pratice.
Good selection of Korean and Chinese foodstuffs. Items on sale are cheap, regular prices are okay not great. On the 1st day of the month there is a Buy One Get One Free sale for a lot of items. Fresh seafood department, prices cheaper than regular supermarkets. Standard selection of the usual Korean beers, OB, Cass, and Hite. Some soju also.A Korean restaurant, Koreana, is in the front, serving the standards and Korean fried chicken. Also a Korean bakery, Canaan, that has breads, cake, pastries, and a cafe. Inside in the front is a Sushi counter, towards the end of the day they have sushi and sashimi 2 for $10 or 2 for $15. Theres also a pharmacy and a K-Beauty store inside.
The selections here are surprisingly broad. I usually go for Japanese foods and to date, the only item I thought they didnt have was one I just didnt notice on the shelves (the staff are helpful and polite: its worth asking for help). I might complain about how the organization was confusing in that one case, but honestly, on the whole the organization is very good. If you want Japanese snacks or umeboshi (both of which Id recommend), the isle you want is pretty immediately apparent. If youre looking for ingredients for an udon, or just ochasuke, this makes a pretty good first stop.Prices are middling good. Some things (like Nishiki rice) I can get cheaper on Amazon, but things like that are rare. Usually the prices offered are the cheapest I could easily get things like this: sometimes by a wide margin. That does not mean things are cheap. But on average it seems like I pay less here than I would getting this stuff any other way.
I went to visit on the new year and havent been back since the opening of H Mart in Jerricho. I have to say I am very disappointed with their bogo deals. They are still jacking up prices to make it seemed like it is a great deal but it is not. The lines are much shorter than before and not many deals worth visiting anymore. Ill be surprised if this place is still around in 2018.
This is my go to place when I need something asian on the way home. It is never crowded when I go and is stocked with the needed sause, noodles, spices or what not. You do need to know what you are getting since I believe it is geared to the Korean market. This can be educational though, I learned the difference between mat and pogi kimchee the hard way. The latter is uncut.
Clean, fresh, and affordable Korean supermarker all the way out in Hicksville, NY. Its the best in town because its the only one in town! HAHABut yeah, my girl and I have gone here for a wide selection of things we cant usually find at a mainstream supermarket - especially in Long Island. So kimchi, toased seaweed (gim), microwaveable rice (hetban), Juk, assorted banchan, makgeolli, soju, different panckaes (pajeon), tons of exceptionally well-maintained meats and seafood. They also sell rice cookers, cutlery and dishware. My gf is from Korea and she loves to come here, and so do I. The last amazing thing I got here was a jar of citrus preserves used to make tea. So delicious (massiseoyo!)!Since many of the items are imported or at least from out of state, the prices reflect this premium. Join their membership club for free to get points to be redeemed for discounts. On weekends, they have the staff providing free samples of a lot of different items like cooked meats, dumplings, sauces, pancakes, matcha, you name it ;) Dont feel guilty for not buying the sampled stuff, just try it if youre a newcomer. So Korean people living near Hicksville, this is a great option for imported items from Korea. US citizens, broaden your horizens and get your Korean food and drink on at H&Y Mart.
Overall, this is a good Korean market. Although H&Y is a smaller store and has a smaller selection of products, I like the fact that its not as congested (busy) as HMarts flagship store in Jericho. Sometimes, trying to shop at the HMart in Jericho can be more of a hassle than its worth.
Worst Customer service. Guys at the sea food section are very rude. and if you go to customer service to complain, they will give you a runaround from person to person and in the end will tell you, Sorry, manager is not here. In the parking lot people break your side mirrors while parking or pulling out. One of the worst place to shop.
It is the worst place ever I have been to.1. Every 1st of the month they hold a special 1 + 1, but most of the products are garbage except few of them. And also they put much higher price than their usual on that day.It is deceiving the customers.I promise that I will not ever visit this place ever in my life.Beware.
The cashier tries to intimidate me counting my money took my money and drop my money down the floor ...she looked on the floor & kneel then get back to me later told me im short w/my payment. I told her i saw you kneel & swipe your feet....please check the floor again ...she look down to her feet..and returned my money and gave my change...she tries to short changed me...

2021-11-07Great selection and quality of Asian groceries. Buy one get one free sale on the last and the first day of every month is fantastic! Gets a little crowded when the sale is on, but can still find parking and the check out is reasonably quick.
