Hannaford in other cities:
The entire crew at this place are just fabulous. Talk about a team. From the butcher shop to the shopping cart wrangler, every exchange and interactions are always pleasant and fruitfull. I have been coming here since I moved here in 2006. I like the people and the products.
Well well well great customer service! Was very disgusted because they never sanitized any of the self check outs especially during this pandemic! It was my first time and only time there never again! I would rather go to Walmart who does sanitize after Every Customer before they let you go up to the self check out!!
Very clean store inside and had very nice friendly staff. Went to the pharmacy to get a new prescription Ive never taking before staff was very helpful telling me thing to look out for when taking it and other precautions I should take with it. Which was a big relief not being that familiar with that type of medication. Store was very organized and had some very good deal on many products I needed. Would recommend to all my family and friends.
Beautiful store with an entire section dedicated to allergen-free foods, including many refrigerated items. I was very impressed to see these features in a town that seems overly-traditional, if not opposed to these kinds of specialized items. The store is bright and clean and easy to navigate.
It was an ok shopping experience. Found everything I came looking for. I even found an electronic cart in the parking lot. I was thankful of this on the drive in, when I got to one door and realized it was locked and had to turn around and go to the other door. Im having double hip replacement in 4 days and cant do much walking without being extremely sore. There was a lot of congestion at checkout and several shopping customers were trying to figure out how to maneuver around the long lines to the next aisle.I used self checkout and when I went to leave, was blocked from leaving with the electronic cart. They put some of my groceries in a regular cart for me and I had to rearrange it because they were about to put heavy stuff on top of my chips. She offered to send someone out with me to load my groceries into my car but I declined because my issue is walking, and carrying weight, but putting 3 bags into my car was not a big deal. What I needed was to not have to walk to the car. I will stick with Gloversville Hannaford and stay far far away from Amsterdam Hannaford. Gloversville is so much more customer friendly and walked with me in my electronic cart to my car to load my groceries. Leave it to Amsterdam to be rude and insensitive!
The staff is severely underpaid for all the work they have to do. They put up with hostile costumers. And while other stores received bonuses for their hard work during a pandemic, the company refuses to give the managers, at least, the slightest amount nearing $1. Big thanks to those running the joint. You’ve outdone yourselves in your avarice at the cost of your employees.
When you dont want to go to Walmart or price chopper there is always Hannaford. Solid selection and quality produce and less crowded then the 2 mentioned above. Wish the lighting was brighter and the place didnt look so cafeteriaish but it has what I want (usually) and the staff always has seemed enjoyable.
I have been shopping at Hannaford for over 30 years. This particular store in Amsterdam is a mess. The produce department is a disgrace. Most of the green leafy vegetables are limp and not edible. The other displays look messy. The local produce available from Shauls Farm looked as though it had been harvested right off of the ground. That is not my experience at the Hannaford in Ballston Spa or Saratoga. Those stores are immaculate and their produce is fresh and presented with care.
Very disappointed to find millenials who cant seem to follow directions. All aisle are one way with arrows marking direction of the aisle. I asked one young woman if she saw the arrows. Her reply was I saw them I always go through the store this way. Her kids, both over 2 yrs old did not have masks on. WHY CANT MILLENIALS FOLLOW DIRECTIONS? It is for your good as well as everyone elses. Grow up and think of someonebother than yourself!!
Friendly service; a lot of products lower priced than most grocery stores. Still have to check other stores for weekly flyers sales. Some products hard to find; in store aislesigns could be better. When I cant find a product & the store is too busy to ask anyone I leave without the product.
Nice market. Very clean with lots of its own store brand items. I dont visit much there is a Target, Walmart and Price Chopper next door and they usually have better prices. They do have an organic section with dry cereal, etc and a frozen section with vegan and lactose free options.
First time in this supermarket and it seems not so bad to shop I was in and out I only bought like 5 articles because they didnt have what I was looking for I asked one of the Associates to direct me where can I fine the ground turkey meat and he said we dont have ground turkey but when he was talking he had his mouth full of food if youre going to talk to somebody dont talk your mouth full that is not professional and also when I ask another employee wheres your cereal she gave me the dirty look like duh its right there Ive never been to the supermarket I needed a little bit of assistance and the people from the deli have long faces whats wrong with this people,I guess they dont like there jobs..
I love hannaford. However today I went to the express aisle - 14 or less items. The young girl was nice but she didnt give me all of my bags. They just keep spinning the bag carousel around. I took my bags as she proceeded with the next customers. I didnt go home right away but when I did I realized I didnt have my bananas or my Amsterdam recorder. They were on my receipt. Oh well I wasnt going back up. The next time I will wait in a regular aisle where their is a bagger who puts the bags in your cart. Express wasnt so good. Sorry hannaford.
For the Albany area, Hannaford is a great grocery store to visit if you are looking for reasonable prices without sale and coupon games. Their prices are always decent, though not the lowest you can find anywhere. I would highly recommend Hannaford in the capital region.
Solid if outdated market. Carries Giroux egg brand that PC does not. Usually has a good Greek yogurt sale either Chobani or Fage. Other prices seem reliably low as opposed to PCs inflate/deflate sales rollercoaster. Their house brand seems weaker with fewer options than PCs.
My wife and i just got done getting a full cart of groceries overflowing for a family of 6 and as were at the register waiting to pay (with our 2.5 month old in my arms and wife unloading the cart) one employee saw us coming and walked away and nobody came to bag so after working an 11 hr day i had to bag all of our groceries and pay about $250...the staff didnt care and nobody apologized or acted like it was wrong that i had to hand my wife pur daughter just so I could bag our groceries when thats what they get paid to do...awful experience and i will not be coming back to this store again

2020-06-26Great customer service and great selection of any groceries you need. The store is clean and sanitary. Hannaford loves local, and I do too. Their local farmers and producers make life better for so many communities and help preserve thousands of acres of farmland. Hannaford is committed to carrying local products made or grown in the states they do business in, and they’re bringing in more local products every year.

2021-08-14I haven’t been to too many other Hannaford stores but overall this one is okay. Produce is, in my opinion, the best in the area! And I’d say 90% of the time they have what I’m wanting to buy in stock. Price wise, they can be a little high in comparison to Walmart. But I would rather pay a little more than deal with the big W. Staff is always friendly and helpful too.

2021-10-11Tonight I made my first To-Go order at Amsterdam Hannaford. I have to applaud the amazing customer service and professionalism. Nathan was the associate who exceeded expectations. So often management have to hear the complaints, but I must say this was a fantastic experience start to finish. Nathan deserves some recognition for being an-all around 5 star employee!

2021-04-04They always keep this place really clean. Relaxing atmosphere. Everything is easy to find.Only 3 stars instead of 5 because of the employees. Ive only shopped there at night. So I dont know how the employees are there during the morning and afternoon...but the employees who work up front in the service desk area at night are very unprofessional and unpleasant. And its not like this only happened a couple or even a few times...its happened EVERY SINGLE TIME Ive shopped there. You approach the desk to ask a question, or need help at the self check out, checking out an item without a bar code...bananas for example. And the employees are ALWAYS unhappy. They act as if you just bothered or interrupted them. They say the least they need to say to you with an attitude. As if they hate their jobs and just cant wait to go home. Even a younger guy who was the manager(?) seemed to have the same attitude...maybe it spirals down from the top (?) If so, thats unfortunate. Not sure but very unprofessional. They display their misery on their faces. If you dont have any questions or scanning issues...if you can get out without having to disturb any employees who work at night at the service desk, it would be a perfect shopping experience.

2021-04-13Great meat department. Best Ive ever experienced, and Ive lived in many states and shopped at many stores. Spiral steaks are excellent ... cant find them anywhere else. Love this store. And now they sell Truff Hot Sauce. Doesnt get any better than that.
