Harold’s has very good food and excellent service. What sets it apart from all other restaurants within 100 miles are the desserts. These desserts are all handmade by Lisa and are exceptional - especially the cheesecake. I’ve eaten cheesecake in New York City, London, Edinburgh, Rome, Naples and Paris. None compare to Lisa’s cheesecake. This is simply the very best cheesecake I’ve ever eaten. The consistency is perfect; slightly dense yet light. The flavor is what you want when you order cheesecake. Best of all it’s just cheesecake. No crust to detract from the experience. If I want to eat graham crackers, I will go buy a box. If you love cheesecake do yourself a favor and go to Harold’s.
We were a group of five that arrived at the very start of their dinner crowd. The waitress initially seemed very rushed, but appeared to get into the groove of the evening as our meal progressed. Although prices were listed in the menu, they werent presented on the specials board. There was a choice of soups with one being entirely vegetarian. The salads were crisp with dressing options. We ordered four pan-fried haddock mains & one lasagne. All the portions were huge. The prices were moderate. Because we were there early, parking was easy. Theres wheelchair access. The only significantly yuk experience of the evening were the smokers by the entrance.
Never ever had a bad meal at Harolds , everything is cook to perfection by Harold him self !!!
We had a wonderful birthday celebration for my wife and the dinner was fantastic the chicken parmesan is the best around along with the fish and the pork chop highly recommend going to Harolds
Ive always had a delicious meal from here, weather it be steak or fish Ive always been satisfied. Meals come out quick and the portions are more than enough to fill most anyone. The pan fried haddock and pan fried trout are two of my favorites! Try it out you wont be disappointed.
Good food for all occassions. Call ahead on Saturday to make sure no parties or you will have a small wait. Bartender was pleasant and made good drinks. Friends all around Family atmosphere. Will enjoy again.

Subpar food. Had babyback ribs. Ribs were tender Ill give them that, but the bbq sauce was just dumped on the ribs, soup had NO clams in it, the homemade steak fties came out of a bag and the waitress ignored us. Never again....

Been here for several occasions for parties. The staff are amazing, and they are very helpful. The food is also absolutely fantastic and they do buffet style which is perfect.

Party of five. We arrived and were promptly seated. The server rattled off what seemed to be 8-10 specials of which many had to be repeated later. Why werent they printed out if there were that many? The cream of broccoli soup contained large chunks of broccoli and the spinach and chicken soup lacked spinach, was full of stringy chicken, and was a bit on the salty side. The tossed salads were skimpy with occasional brown lettuce, thickly sliced cucumbers,and limp red onions and olives. There were no tomatoes or croutons. Dressings were served in a plastic cup on the side. The homemade Italian lacked flavor. The balsamic was very good though. Entrees were a grilled ham steak with mac and cheese, baked haddock with a breadcrumb topping, a delmonico steak with shrimp scampi, and a fried parmesan and breadcrumb pork cutlet (2). Dinners arrived fast but not all at once. The macaroni and cheese was summed with an okay. It looked dry. The ham steak took up the entire plate and was lazily topped with canned pineapple chunks. It would have been nice to have a few slices of grilled pineapple to help with presentation. The haddock smelled a bit fishy and was dry and bland. The delmonico was grilled a perfect medium rare but topped with so many mushrooms you couldnt see the streak! A rib-eye is one of the most flavorable steaks but this one was not. It was not even seasoned with salt and pepper. The shrimp scampi, about 8-10 medium shrimp, arrived in a small round casserole dish swimming in over an inch of a butter type sauce. The shrimp were less than flavorful and lacked the garlic and touch of white wine you expect in a good scampi. The two pork cutlets were pounded as thin as a pancake, breaded, and fried. They were flavorless, tough, and over-cooked. The breadcrumb coating was described as shake n bake. They were served with a small side of applesauce (2 tablespoons) in a plastic cup. $105 with tax and tip. What a waste.
Great food, great service and reasonable prices. However as the front dinning room fills with customers, it gets very loud and its difficult to have a conversation.
Great broiled scallop special with light melted swiss. Potato salad is superb as is coconut cream pie.

Not a lot of choices in Gloversville, so this one stands out. Restaurant, bar and banquet room. Tucked way back in the back end of town you are not going to accidentally run into it. Set your GPS and go, its worth it.Ive been to g-ville hundreds of times over 30 years and never knew it existed.

The food and beverage s are very generous in portions not to mention excellent service. The cooking is simply divine, if you are visiting Harolds is a must.

We arrived at Harolds Wednesday to find a locked door. Their Facebook page indicated they were open at 4 on Wednesdays as did the sign on the door. We were very disappointed and went elsewhere. What are the hours?

2022-01-02It had been more than a few years since my wife and I had eaten at Harolds. After checking the Yelp rating we were a little hesitant but we decided to give it a shot, and Im very glad that we did.We both had basically the same meal and we were both pleased. We started with an excellent cream of broccoli soup which along with Italian bread arrived less than five minutes after we ordered. Just as we finished the soup our attentive server brought out our salads, mine with blue cheese and hers with balsamic vinaigrette.For our main course we chose one of the house specials, pan fried haddock. The large fillet was cooked to perfection, moist and meaty. For a starch side I had a more than adequate potato salad and my wife had the baked potato. We were served more than we could eat so we passed on dessert.We will definitely come back again soon.

2017-08-23Ive lived in NYC, Tucson AZ, and currently DC but have always called Upstate NY (Gloversville in particular) home. Of the many excellent restaurants I have visited, I must say Harolds could hold its own in any city and it is so great to have such a hidden gem in my hometown. You will not be disappointed in the service, food, prices, and especially the dessert. The varieties of cream pies = heavenly.

2021-09-09Yes, the price is a little high BUT the portions are HUGE and honestly, this is the best steak and fish in town.Get the ribeye with mushrooms. Its truly amazing!Or the pan-fried haddock, which is out of this world!If I dont make it myself and I want something a little nicer than just a regular meal, this is the place I go to every time.Harolds is a true staple in Gloversville and one of the few restaurants who kept the quality the same during the entire pandemic.A big thanks to the team here!

2019-05-20I really enjoyed dinner at Harolds. They had many specials on Saturday, it was hard to choose. I had the baked haddock and rice. Very good choice. the Chicken soup was delicious and the salad was fresh, crisp and tasty. Service was excellent. All in all 5 star evening.
