Harrys in other cities:
Service was excellent. Everyone I interacted with was kind and professional. I shared a tomahawk with a friend (140 / 2 people). It came pre sliced so it was easy to share. I thought the tomahawk tasted decent, with the meat being quite flavorful, but being less tender than I had hoped for. Their lobster fried rice also tasted pretty good.I probably would have given this quality of food 4 stars at many other places. With this price and reputation, however, I came to be blown away—and that unfortunately did not happen.Side note: some of my friends tried their cocktails and the general impression was they “tasted too strongly of alcohol.” Take from that what you will.
Met some friends at Harrys for dinnerThe entire staff was great..friendly. helpful and courteous. I had the salmon, my husband the scallops and our friends had various sides of steak cooked how they wanted. Everyone was very pleased with their orders. Then came the desserts. The cheesecake gives Juniors a run for their money. The chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and sauce was excellent also. We are definitely going back.
Really wanted to love this place but the food was really disappointing. My steak was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection but the onion rings were so so salty, there were literal chunks of salt on the onion rings. We paid an extra $5 for Bernaise sauce that was completely flavorless and the espresso martinis were too strong and very biter. For $300 I expect a delicious meal and not salt covered food. Wouldn’t come back here and it’s such a shame because the place has tremendous potential.
The food was excellent and the service was incredible. We (2 people) stayed there for almost 4 hours. We didnt just eat dinner and have drinks, we had an experience. The wine list is impeccable. We have marked this restaurant as a downtown favorite. All of the staff was so friendly and we never felt rushed.
This is one of my favorite brunch places in the area. Saturdays and Sundays with the purchase of an entree, you get 90 minutes of unlimited champagne. Juice mixes is an additional charge. The service and the food is always good and your glass never goes empty. You will not be disappointed.
Amazing service soon as you walk through the doors from thehostess ,waiters, managers. I had the whole Branzino fish with lobster fried rice fish was very buttery and delicious .My husband got the blackened swordfish steak very seasoned with hash brown potatoes soooo good. Get dessert trusttttt me the cookies and cream skillet to die for also The chocolate cream pudding my lover also agreed it was good.Definitely will be back
After walking all day. Harry,s was a well deserved treat. Omar was AMAZING making the Ceasars Salad. It was prepared as a show, every ingredient was explained on how it added to the dish. The Steak melted in my mouth, onion soup pulled it all together. The Dinning experience and service definitely worth it.Thanks everyone!
This neighborhood place is still one of the hidden gems downtown. The ambience is so inviting and the staff is so friendly and on point. The food menu is well balanced and there is something for everyone. The dry aged ribeye is to die for, its so tender and juicy, they even slice it for you . Cant wait to go back and try the beef Wellington on Wednesday! I heard they might be putting it on the menu every day.
Pretty cool spot, steaks are very good. Spinach dip as a side is good too. Portions are relatively large compared to other NYC steakhouses. Vibes are awesome! They slightly push you a bit too hard to do desserts and generally want you ordering a bit too quick(given I was there on a week-day night)
FiDi institution for a reason, Harrys never fails to impress. This visit, we went with a classic Vesper and a Scotchy Scotch Scotch (how can you resist the name!?) made with Great King St. Glasgow Edition blended scotch, Talisker Storm single malt scotch, poblano chile, lime, shaken & finished with a mist of Laphroaig 10 Year
I had the bone out filet minon and Yukon potatoes. Was not good. I could make a better steak at home. No flavor. I expected much better from a place so popular. The atmosphere and the service is excellent. I also came for brunch on a Sunday and the food was good then.
Decided to try a spot at random in the downtown area…….bad idea.We showed up and it is very dark inside making it very hard to read the menu. I ordered the bone in dry aged rib eye with mushrooms. My girlfriend ordered the cedar plank king salmon and the lobster rice. We shared each other’s food so that we could try a few different things together. The salmon was incredibly bland and had no cedar plank flavor, or really any flavor at all. Lobster rice tasted like undercooked rice mixed with onions, even the manager agreed that he hated it.My steak without exaggeration was one of the worst steaks I have ever had. It was interesting because it was cooked to a perfect medium rare but had a very heavy char on the crust but had zero to no flavor even though it was dry aged. The mushrooms were incredibly average. We had Crème brûlée and the apple tart, this were very good desserts. We also ordered cocktails to include gin and tonic, Greisling wine. We were scared to try any special cocktails after our experience with the food.Overall it was a very underwhelming experience, the tan of $300 was heartbreaking because we spent that much funny on awful food. If you are expected amazing food and an experience I would not go here.
A beautiful location in a very nice area. When you come here youre coming to eat good food, youre not coming to find some cheap little meal. In that context, Harrys is a solid destination for a meal with a colleague, a date, or a drink after work. The crowd - when ive gone - is a bit more of a professional vibe. I dont imagine this is a stop on a bar crawl. As for food, i heard the burger here was something of a standout, and so i ordered that. It was solid. Nothing id travel far for or rave about, but nothing to complain about. Service was notably attentive.
Excellent steakhouse in the heart of Wall Street District. The brussel sporuts and mashed potatoes were both 5-star. My husband and I shared the Porterhouse, it was cooked just rice and tons of flavor on every bite. I would love to come back to NY just to try this place again
Speaking as a foodie new-yorker, who lives in the area: the place is a combination of reasonably priced super-tasty menu (possibly the best steak tartare in NYC, wonderful lamb and steaks, lobster fried rice, insane desserts), great bar (Harry’s martini, and the Irish coffee) and phenomenal space - this is a rare mid 19th century building in a perfect condition - look at the pictures.Last but not least: the service was wonderful as well
Made a birthday reservation for 8:30p. Arrived and was seated at the most trafficked table. Staff was unable to move and provided an option to eat at the bar (for a birthday celebration/reservation I felt that wasnt an option). Food was great. No mention of the birthday. Paid the bill and left. A high point was the staff did accomodate the no-salt request for all items.
This is my absolute favorite restaurant in NYC. Always equally fantastic as last time. The daily specials are always a great options, and the Wednesday beef wellington is out of this world. Highly recommend the ceasar salad for two (made at the table which is an extra bonus) and the polenta fries are a hidden gem on the menu. But best of all is the atmosphere, it has such a warm and joyful atmosphere. The bar is great for an after work drink as well.
Disappointing we booked a birthday celebration for the dining room. We were put in the bar area on two round tables pushed together which was hardly ideal as it still looked like dining separately.Food was OK, service on the main was poor with very little interaction from the servers .Would have expected better given we had booked several weeks in advance and that it was supposed to be a birthday celebration. Cost a lot of money for a underwhelming experience such a shame
It was my birthday. As were leaving I very respectfully comment to the host why they dont do anything for your birthday (they were aware of it). She laughed and said this isnt TGI Fridays honey!... The funny thing is shes dumb enough to not realize she just admitted that TGIF has better hospitality even tho theyre a fraction of the cost. This was brought to Faiths attention who is some back office manager. She didnt care to offer any compensation other than a discounted brunch and refused to just credit back the value of said brunch to my card bc me and my partner arent trying to encounter the same snide broads that laughed as we questioned their service levels.Further, restaurant was mostly empty yet we were asked every 2 minutes if plates could be taken despite repeating that were still eating and talking. Weirdos. Steak (we got a filet and strip) was very plebian. Sides were very weak. Honestly outback hits way harder than this place. What a dump. We went to Quality Italian a few days later, same price point, who had MUCH better steaks (actually seasoned well) and brought out a wonderful free dessert for my partners bday. Service was perfect esp when compared to Harrys. What a joke
Not sure where all these reviews come from but my experience was very different. Ribeye had way more fat than Id expect from that cut of meat and the batter on the tempura onion rings had the consistency of a soggy sponge soaked in oil.Google has this listed as an old school steak house. Nope. This is a tourist trap. I shouldve known when I walked in and the music was blaring. This is the kind of place where you have to shout to have a conversation. I dont mind that but I was looking for the old school steak house experience which this is absolutely not. If you want that, do you yourself a favor and go to Delmonicos which is very close by.Very disappointed with this place.
Like the place and the staff but the manager is a complete smug. I am a regular and he knows it but he wants to play one of his power trips. They need to get rid of him. Suit is not necessary for a restaurant manger. You should be able to roll up your sleeves and help the staff if necessary instead of acting like a big shot and bark orders at staff. For god’s sake, you are in a restaurant.
Very nice ambience and delicious food. We went their for Brunch last Sunday and we surprised by their brunch option which include unlimited champagne (90 mins time limit per table). Their staffs are very mannered. Make sure to book reservations before going to that place.
Run, dont walk to harrys... ive had a lot of steaks in nyc but this may have been the best. the bone-in prime ribeye is dry aged for 28 days. its a little fatty, tender, juicy, and all the things a steak should be. the hash browns were also a great side. for dessert, we got the chocolate pudding cake, and it was seriously one of the best chocolate desserts ive had in a long time. everything at harrys was to-die-for and reasonably priced... i havent felt this way about a steak place in a long.
An extremely unsatisfactory experience. After receiving text messages such as youre due at Harrys in 30 minutes to then show up on time and the table not be ready is very poor. When we eventually got to our tableS (the S is important here) having requested a dining room table a few weeks ago, we were then seated in the bar across two round tables. For the duration of the meal there were tables available in the dining room which we could have been seated at. At no point did anyone apologise for the delay on our table or the fact that the table was actually tableS. Server was unattentive with the water being the most attentive part of the service. The food was at least warm and tasted good however the poor service and tables made this birthday celebration (which Harrys were aware of) disappointing!
Amazing service, good wine, lovely bread basketI was tired, this place happened to be next to me when I was googling for food. Beef tartar was fresh, even house red was good (zero expectation for house, but it happens to be lovely), the bread basket is just so exciting. What stands out is their attentive service, super polite staff, I really should have tipped more. It’s a comfortable place with classic yet cool decor. It’s a nice NYC kinda restaurant. Reasonably priced!
Very tasty food indeed. The place is chic and the vibe is really nice. The bar is awesome and they have a big sitting area. The service is superb and they make you feel special. I ordered fish and it was delicious.Definitely recommend if you are visiting downtown. The entry opposite Starbucks is open -all other entries are usually closed.
What a wonderful time. Excellent place to celebrate anything! The food is next level delicious. Doesnt matter what you order. I had the bone in ribeye with shaved asparagus spears and and excellent bearnaise finishing sauce. The meats are dry aged 29 days, USDA PRIME cuts, kosher coarse salt crusted, both sides, olive oil pan seared. Wild mushrooms in a generous side portion, phenomenal. The meal done to perfection, a marvelous and savory taste experience with every bite. Artisan crafted beads generously adorn the tables. A ceramic pot of French onion soup to start the taste buds into overdrive, perfect on a freezing night! A small army of staff and waiters served with precision, not annoyingly so. Water glasses kept full. The atmosphere, older, rich dark woods, a former speakeasy in the glory days of the 20th century, was inviting, and cozy. They have a coat check girl at the hostess station reminiscent of yesteryear. (It was full as it was 9° last night). Desserts, omg, atypical fare for sure. A Harrys sundae to add an extra level of naughtiness is just... one of a kind. Not just ice cream, 12 year old single malt scotch mixed with minced strawberries, ghirardelli caramel and fudge sauces, heavy whipped cream, micro malt balls, brownie bites, topped with a fresh mint sprig! Creme bruleé, larger than typical, chocolate chip cookie baked in a mini cast iron skillet, topped with hand made vanilla ice cream, mint sprig topped. It was all delightful to the eyes and certainly the palate. It was fun to meet the namesake of Harrys, Harry himself. He still oversees the day to day operations, and is a open and friendly man. Fantastic experience. Be prepared to drop a few bucks here. Well worth the time and food experience.
Five Stars! We ordered Harrys Holiday Feast for our small familys Christmas Dinner. Ordering and pick-up was smooth. Very friendly staff. All food was packed for travel including plastic wrapping, together with simple cooking and reheating instructions. Everything was delicious! Harrys Beef Wellington is the best on the planet!
Ambiance: Dim candle lit, marble table tops, titled floor vibes. Perfect for date night or drinks with friends.Service: Adequate, attentive service for 5 pm empty bar scene. Engaging bartenders.Food/drinks: Happy hour 4-6 pm. Espresso martini 4/5, $12. Dark espresso with light foam complete with 3 coffee beans. Liquor forward martini.Price: Happy hour prices, $12 cocktails, $10 aperitie, $5 beers.Parking: Cmon please, its NYC.
Great place! We had a bottle of wine with cheese to start with. Both were divine. Had crab cake for appetizer. Also delicious! Had Filet Mignon with Lobster fried rice as main entree and let me say. By far one of the best steak I have ever eaten! Service was amazing!!! My cup was never empty. Attention to detail at its finest! Worth every penny!
Been here multiple times, this time around it was a horrendous experience by our waiter, Omar. He completely ignored us and barely came to our table. Since we were not ordering a tomahawk this time, he completely ignored us and stop coming to our table, he then sent someone else and we had no idea who our waiter was. Our lobster bisque tasted like can but we decided to keep them and take them home, we didn’t even mention anything. Never have I had this bad of an experience at Harry’s before.
Food was very good.Atmosphere is classic NYC steakhouse.Service was great.Drinks were tiny and way overpriced. The irony is, I would have spent much more on drinks if I didnt feel like I was getting ripped off.I know how much these bottles of liquor go for in the store. Bars get them for much cheaper. Yet, they feel the need to charge you more than the price of a bottle for a drink. I didnt even order any crazy mixed drinks.
I reserved a table for 3 for a business meeting. Turn out when we arrived we had to wait + we got a small table just next to the bar even tho my reservation was for a dining room table. When I asked why, the waitress said “this is your only option your reservation doesn’t mean anything”Guys just show up don’t do reservations 🤷♂️Food is not too bad
Amazing food, we tried the lunch steak salad and the Cajun style ribeye. The salad was incredible, with a very generous portion of steak perfectly cooked and tender, the only downside is that it was a bit too salty for me, but not unbearable. The ribeye was splendid. Potato puree just ok, and the cremee brulee was a bit bitter due to overcooked caramel, but good anyway.
If you like taverns, this is your place. Rather dark, part of the ambiance I guess. Prices on the steep side. Food is ok. I expected better. The staff are very attentive. The floors are uneven and in the dark atmosphere you have to take care. Bathroom is a hoot with old ads on there inside doors. The light there was actually too bright and oddly placed.
I stumbled on to Harrys by accident. Im so glad I did, one of my most memorable meals in NYC. The steak, apps and wine were delicious . Seriously... one of the best steaks Ive ever had. What really stood out for me was the service. From being greeted at the door to the dinner service, everyone and everything was top notch. A big shout out to Magaly Ponce, she knows her stuff, she instinctively knew how I wanted my steak and it did not disappoint. The food and service was some of the best Ive ever had. I dont live her, but may return just to have a steak at Harrys.
Had a magical evening with our son and his fiancé Saturday night. The food was superb and the staff was so wonderful and attentive. Our son goes there often and now we know why. Harrys is the place to go when in NYC. We thank everyone who took care of us and a special thank you to the owners for your kindness and generosity. See you in July for their big event.
My and my fiancé had an evening dinner here and it was very nice. I ordered the lamb chops and they were delicious. The hash brown potatoes were a huge favorite of mines. I was hesitant bc I thought it was going to give me a breakfast feel but to my surprise it was the total opposite. Wines were good. Atmosphere there was perfect for a date night outing. Even to catch a casual drink it was perfect for. The night we went was a rainy mess but over all the experience here was what I wanted it to be. Will revisit when back in town.
This is definitely my favorite place for lunch in FiDi, and I have loved it for dinner also, but we came here on Easter Sunday to break our routine, and it was very enjoyable. We ordered off the Easter menu, though we could have ordered à la carte. The food was great and the service impeccable. I really love this restaurants situation in an antebellum New York building with a rich history. It was renovated within the last few years, and the interiors feel modern without sacrificing that wonderful New York steak/club house feel. Treat yourself.PS I didnt so much appreciate the music, which made it feel more like a bar than a restaurant. It was a little loud, and more classic rock/R&B with a beat. Maybe it seemed loud because we were in the early shift and the restaurant was just filling up, but a little incongruous with the refined setting.
5 star for the food but at this luxurious prices service need to improve.Enjoyed the prosciutto and main lobster cocktail. We shared a tomahawk steak in 4 great choice! Good mash, less exciting broccolini.Warm chocolate pudding cake must close the meal. The oxacana negroni was promising adding more mezcal but a little disappointing, more sweet than smokeyThe hostess seem to be especially annoyed by having to get us a table, let alone when we asked ti trabfer the tab from the bar and for a bootht in an otherwise empty restaurant! The bar make good negroni and has a good vibe - good for an after work drink or an aperitif.
Saturday evening myself and 6 guests made 7:30 PM reservations at Harrys with great anticipation. We were seated at a lovely round table and enjoyed cocktails while ordering dinner. From that point on the event was a complete disaster. It took over 90 minutes to get our dinner which was served ice cold. From the ribeye to the filet mignon and right down to the onion rings and creamed spinach. Everything was cold. Restaurants these days blame the pandemic for lack of employees. Harrys should take note from Delmonico - stay closed and only open when you are able to meet your published expectations and those of guests spending $1,000 plus for dinner. Recommendation - stay away for right now.
A real staple establishment of lower Manhattan and Wall St. Harry’s has a great ambience; beautiful bar; decor and is clearly a highly polished operation.Whether you’re a high flying young urban professional of Wall Street or a student wanting to experience the finer things in life this is the place to be. The brunch is especially good for the younger crowd—a great place to start a bar crawl!
Incredible outdoor dining experience with Omar guiding us through the menu last night. Not only was the food beyond perfect but Omar went out of his way to ensure all the details of an indoor dining moment were upheld outside as well. He expertly challenged a few of our choices (haha! So cute!) to be certain everything at the table paired well together. It was a perfect dinner and overall experience, we appreciate it!!
To begin with...the food was great!! Expensive, but great! The decor was old worldy, wood-lined interior to make guests comfortable - and there was certainly more than enough staff to refill the water glasses and to offer more bread and butter. With all of that surplus help, it took forever to have someone come by for the food order, to find someone for some coffee and a dessert menu, and to understand how to pack a to go bag for the take home portion.Specifically...My son had ordered a very expensive ribeye steak. It was pretty large and some was left over. I asked one of the waiters if the kitchen could offer a small bag of ice to pack along with the steak, to keep it cold until we got home. What did the waiter do? He packed the steak in one of those plastic-ey snap-lid kinds of containers - and ladled chipped ice all over the steak and broccolini. By the time we got to the train, the food was dripping from the melting ice. We thought he would have packed the ice in a separate plastic bag or a sealed plastic to-go container and wrap it together with the food container. Nope...the steak ended up in the trash at Grand Central, drowning in bloody ice water.Finally...my son (whose birthday we were celebrating) and I noticed this uncanny, weird behavior from the wait staff. They were mostly older men who seemed to be at the edge of scowling while they did their jobs. We didnt take it personally, but it did kind of put a dent in the frivolity of the occasion. They almost seemed like those annoyed, irritable uncles that many people have in their families. Grouchy.So...while the food itself was excellent....for the very, VERY expensive menu prices, it would have been a better evening if the staff were more pleasant, if they were a bit more intuitive about their time in taking dinner orders, and... if they knew how to pack food to go.Probably not going back. For the money, I can find better places.
Harrys is an experience from the moment you walk in. I recommend this place for both couples and families. All aquaintances made from the moment my date and I entered were delightful, welcoming and pleasing. The food and the presentation of the food, maaann oh man! Im not going to go into detail because I truly do not want to spoil the experience for you. What I WILL say is perfection is the goal at Harrys. If youve been thinking about going, GO! You wont regret it.
I don’t normally leave reviews, but with awesome dinner I had at Harry’s, I had to. The ambiance itself was so nice, food was amazing, and staff was very well mannered and welcoming. I believe I had Shomar (I’m sorry if that’s wrong) and he was wonderful. We loved it here and didn’t feel rushed at all. We will definitely be returning here again!
We came to the city to see Van Gogh - The Immersive Experience. We decided to come in a day early to see the sites and see how the city is recovery from Covid. We were pleased to see that things are getting back to Normal. Harrys did not disappoint. The steaks (my Sig other had the Fillet and I had the Bone in Strip), were both seasoned and cooked perfectly. The hash browns and onion rings werent all that great but thats not why you go to Harrys anyway. The service did not disappoint - everyone was attentive and catered to our every need. We will definitely return to Harrys when we come back to the Financial District.
Highly recommend the bottomless mimosa brunch - its no additional charge with an entree purchase, and its totally worth it! I would say it isnt the best brunch food Ive ever had, but I enjoyed the overall experience. Its a fun atmosphere and would be a good spot to enjoy with friends!
One of the best steak places in my list.Good, calm environment. Delicious food.I ended up having a temporarly free meal, because they did some mistake and didnt charge my credit card. Had to follow up with them via email a week after my travel and we sorted that out, but it was fun :)
Literally amazing. We walked around for ages and couldnt find somewhere nice but then we stumbled upon an underground masterpiece. The waiters were super friendly, and they waited on us very closely. The food was so amazing and cooked to perfection. Although slightly on the higher price end, you really do get your moneys worth here, and it really is perfect for a night out once in a while. It made us feel so fancy.
Immaculate, clean, posh, eatery which eschews the essence of Wall Street. Excellent canadian bacon served with a special apple sauce that has a kick. Although, slightly understaffed possibly due to covid-19 which meant the wait times took about 15 minutes longer after being seated, the staff was very responsive, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Saturday mornings come with complimentary sparkling white wine and a young professional crowd. The bathrooms are ornate and clean. The salmon benedict and the crab cakes were pretty good but I wish I had had two stomachs as the surprisingly affordable with so many delicious sounding dishes. Ill have to return to Harrys.
We enjoyed every aspect of our experience at Harrys. We had drinks at the bar before dinner and the service was wonderful. Our experience at dinner did not disappoint either. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was absolutely fantastic. I do not recall ever having had a steak that was as good as the one that I had that night. I ordered the bone-in NY Strip and thoroughly enjoyed that. My wife had the Beef Wellington and is still raving about that dish.
Harrys has been doing an incredible job on dinners to-go for large groups for several weeks now. Five stars all the way! They put together an amazing multi-course dinner menu every time and a delicious cocktails. The packaging and presentation is always on point not to mention everything is always delicious. Would highly recommend ordering dinner to-go from Harrys and cant wait to dine in-person soon.
Brunch here is my favorite in the city. Between reasonably priced food and upscale environment, Harrys has been my go-to for a fun brunch and has never disappointed. Unfortunately I dont live within walking distance anymore to get the champagne brunch regularly, but every visit to the city involves a meal here. Come to Harrys with a small group, big group, or alone for a quality meal. Its also good outside of brunch hours, obviously, with expertly-grilled steaks and a solid wine list. The bar space is large enough for standing situations over happy hour too.
Went to dinner here with my girlfriend and her family. The food here is flavorful and quality is great. The sides are generously sized and are shareable. Our server was attentive, funny, and added alot to the experience just with his personality, wit, and his ability to banter and be attentive. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the duck was flavorful. We will be back.
Love this place. Been coming here for years, before and after its renovation. Great spot for a business lunch or drink / dinner after work. Definitely more upscale than most of the pubs on Stone Street but well worth the extra $$. Lots of interesting side rooms for dining in addition to the main area. Before the place was renovated, I always thought of it as the proverbial smoke filled room where the biggest deals were done. Today its an updated bistro with a great menu and classy venue
Beautiful place, the place is fancy and the price tag reflects it. Expect to pay a hefty price for dinner and drinks. The food was good, but I would not say it was great. The quantity and quality do not reflect the cost. My steak was overcooked and so were the steaks ordered by others in my party. $60 for an overcooked steak. The drinks were good. At the end of the night there was a an incident with one of the waiters over a couple of drinks that were not on our tab, which was for a party of 10. The waiter acted as if we were trying to skip on the check and was embarrassingly loud. Not a good experience at all. I will not be returning. 2 stars because the place is beautiful and the drinks were good (1 star each).
Excellent steakhouse near Pearl street. Food was very, very good and the service polished. If you are looking for a good steak in the City you cant go wrong with this place. A quick tip, the restaurant entrance is below sidewalk level, down a set of stairs, so it can be easy to miss at night. Highly Recommend.
Honestly very poor, slow service and also I had ordered the prime rib that was on special for about $40 something dollars and the waiter never asked me how I wanted the meat cooked and when I got my plate the meat was very rare. I personally eat well done meat. I sent the plate back for them to cook it at my desire which is well done. When I got my plate back the meat was burnt. I left very upset. Can’t believe they were expecting me to eat burnt meet for about $40 dollars.
We went to Harrys yesterday with a group 15 for a birthday brunch and the service was great. They were attentive and refilled our champagne consistently. However the bar tender was SO rude. It affected the beginning of our day while we waited at the bar for the rest of our party. Good food though. P
Wow this place was by far the best brunch place I have ever been to. The entrees are amazing and generously sized. The best part? Your entree order comes with unlimited sparkling wine! Where else in fidi will you find such a deal? Make sure to pay this place a visit, you will not be disappointed.
Harrys Cafe (recently remodeled and with a revamped menu) is a must visit if you live or work in (or even if you find yourself in) downtown NYC. The restaurant has always had an old-world charm and elegance to it, but the extremely tasteful decorative touches add color and fun to the vibrant atmosphere. And then theres the food, which is exquisite. I sampled 4 pasta dishes on my recent visit and each one was uniquely delectable. It is difficult to make pasta interesting and tasty, but the chef has succeeded admirably. And the mozzarella and tomato salad, and the prosciutto (perfection) we had as appetizers set the tone for the best meal Ive enjoyed in quite awhile. And dont get me started on their wine selection or well be here all day.
This place is amazingly loud. Like, shockingly loud. But the staff is attentive and the food is good. We had the porterhouse, and although it was very pricey for the size, at least it was well flavored and cooked right. Sides were good as well (creamy spinach and mac & cheese were highlights). If someone else is paying, Id be back. But when Im looking for killer steak that wont break the bank, Ill look elsewhere.
I cant recommend the weekend brunch enough. Food is very tasty. I usually go for Steak & Eggs (medium rare and soft scrambled). The Eggs Benedict options are terrific and...well everything is good. With an entree order (range $18-30) you get unlimited champagne. They just start pouring(!!)! Food comes very quickly and they do start you off with an assortment of fancy breads with jam.You can pay $7 for a carafe of OJ and extra $$ if you want top shelf champagne. I usually get a carafe to share with three other people and we always have left over juice...and not because the champagne wasnt flowing. The aesthetic is Wall St Steak House but it is a sunny day and people are letting their hair down. Waiters are sharply dressed and attentive. Dont feel guilty about asking for a refill. Theyre running all over the place and may not notice if your glass is empty. I always have a blast and as I am leaving inevitably (and enthusiastically) say, We should do this more often!
The place is nice, great ambiance, good cocktails, and the food was fine ( not excellent). The 3 stars comes because Jenna L our waitress was sooooo rude, careless, to the point that a party of 7 that arrived right after us were ready to order, but they left once she spoke to them. Also, the desserts were a huge disappointment, tasteless and sad. I believe that waitress and the pastry chef are hurting the business.
My husband and I visited this establishment for a Saturday brunch. We arrived at 11:30. They checked our coats in then sat us down. Let me tell you, this place is amazing. From the service to the food I have absolutely no complaints. They played 80s music which was nice (and it wasnt to loud). During brunch, they serve unlimited champagne for 90 minutes (I think we were there longer than the 90 minutes and still were served drinks). For starters my husband ordered the lobster bisque which he loved and I ordered the french onion soup, super yummy. For our main course, I ordered the Hanover Steak and cheese sandwich and my husband ordered the three egg sandwich and we ordered a side of polenta fries. All I can say is WOW. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. For dessert we ordered the classic creme brulee. Again, WOW. I wish I could remember our waiters name, because he was amazing. I promise you, that you cannot go wrong if you decide to dine here. I can guarantee that I will visit again the next time I visit NY.
Excellent as you would expect from a downtown iconic placeGreat menu and exceptional service.Still ahead of the pack despite incredible competition from a phenomenal number of exceptional restaurants downtown.Doesnt rely on reputation but keeps raising the bar with outstanding food and superb service
Went on a Tuesday First time there and was in the dining room. Atmosphere was great and the music at a level that you can enjoy the music but still have audible conversations between four people. The food was delicious and well presented. Servers were capable and neither intrusive nor invisible. Bathrooms had urinals with shelves to put your drink so extra points. Bar was quiet so cant add to that.
I know most of the readers will say No Duh, its a steakhouse, but I wish there were more vegetarian friendly options. Excellent food options, great bar and excellent service. My review is based on the 1 entree that I always have: omellete. I dont want to be a spoiler for my friends and co-workers who want a good steak, but it is not a veggie friendly menu.Dessert was phenomenal.
Tradition. Consistent. Great Steaks. I was seated at a table in the bar and was well looked after by my server. Enjoyed their speciality - steak. More specifically, RIB STEAK, my favourite. Good place to hang out and get a flavour of the Wall street crowd after a busy day!
Always great here. This is an institution and a classic Wall Street lunch spot. The dinner here is wonderful as well. Great service and great food. I recommend the Chicken Paillard Salad, Atlantic Salmon with Lentils, and the 4 Egg Omelette. The steaks are good choices too. Dont forget a cocktail.
What an incredible venue! Classic steak house with the very best selection of meat and drink. Server was one of the most professional I have experienced. He knew so much about cuts of meat, aging process, wines, and even recommended a parring for us. Will be back again!
Excellent service and great food and drinks. We ordered the tuna tartare, steak tartare, in bone ny strip, swordfish, mushrooms, asparagus, ny cheesecake and chocolate pudding with gelato. Had a few cocktails as well and they were all done very well. We were trying to taste a lot of the menu to decide on what to include on our menu for a private party. They are incredibly flexible and a pleasure to with whom to work.
The lamb burger for lunch is outstanding. The seafood tacos were an excellent appetizer, but not enough to share. The turkey club was ginormous and delicious... Lives up to the hype. Its really good food and not too harsh on the prices, although its not inexpensive enough to eat there too much.
I usually come to Harrys Steakhouse for business lunches. Normally I make a reservation as it can be packed a lot of the time. The service is good and the meals get the job done. Its not one of my favorite steakhouses....hence the 3 stars but....its good enough that I do come back. At times I wish the service was a little bit quicker...but I believe it can be slow because of how packed it is. Overall good experience and food.
Great restaurant in the heard of financial district, by Stone Street. It has great steaks and pastas and other food, and the best is that their kitchen stays open until late. The service is always exceptional, and the ambiance is great because it can be romantic, chilles, but not too quiet. Harrys also has a great bar and it gets lively during happy hour, and quiet and cozy during later.
Great wine and liquor selection, and great service. While the service was great, I was disappointed with the food. The onion soup was too sweet, the basmati rice was overcooked. The lamb curry stew was good; my friend had salmon that was not cooked as requested (asked for medium - it was medium rare at best). The salmon was bland. We were expecting much better food based on others reviews.
Attended a private holiday luncheon party here. About 20 guests were hosted in their wine cellar grotto, which was the perfect space. The food and service was very good and I thought the price was very reasonable. Great day, great experience. If your interested in having a small brunch or dinner party in a nice downtown spot, I recommend that you check out Harrys.
I walked into their back bar, sat down at one of the tables and waited for about 15 minutes. No one came over to give me a menu or ask if I wanted a drink. Bartender/waitress was too busy having a conversation with one of the customers. I was maybe one of 4 people back there. I walk over to ask if I can order food and she simply smiles and continues serving someone else. I left at this point. Considering the price point and reputation, this is unacceptable customer service. I’ve been coming here for years. There’s dozens of steakhouses to pick from in NYC. Step your game up!
Very elegant decor and ambience. Food and drink never disappoint, especially their steaks or handmade pasta which are always cooked perfectly. Its definitely considered upscale so its on the pricey side but thats expected for this area. It has a great bar open late for the night owls of FiDi however the drinks are pricey so if youre looking to get drunk, visit oneof the other bars on stone street or head down the block to the Killarney Rose.
Came here for lunch and had the Steak and cheese sandwich which was delicious but the highlight for me was actually the drinks. Ronnie was so great at recommending drinks and the Old Mr. Johnson cocktail I had is one of the best drinks Ive had in NYC. Then I had a tailored recommendation of an Old fashioned that was great as well. I will be back
New updated interior. Neon lighted centerpiece requires sunglasses but I was lucky and was facing the wall. Quality food at every level. Does it match the very best of NYC? No, but a solid meal nonetheless. I would recommend it for a variety of foodie types. Their menu covers the gamut.Parking can be an issue. Select a table time after 7PM and spaces open up.
Great selection of steaks, seafood and other main courses. I went late at night on a thursday (I think it was 10:45) and was shocked to find that the kitchen was still open. The food was cooked to perfection and delicious. The place can get a little crowded and noisey so avoid happy hour if you are going on a date. The service was a little slow considering the fact that it wasnt busy, but overall it was worth the wait.
This review is for brunch:Its very dark in there, which might be suitable for dinner but very odd to go from a sunny day into the darkness - can barely see your food. The two handed BLT was a gigantic portion and the bacon was just crispy goodness. The chips that it came with where overly sweet. I thought at first they may be sweet potato chips but they werent. Just a sweet seasoning - as my friend described, like a sweet version of Old Bay seasoning.
Glad I stopped in to Harrys after a day working down in the financial district. The intimate setting, old-world, cozy ambiance is a welcome throwback to more personable service which Harrys delivered on. I opted to sit in the smaller dining area near the bar which proved enjoyable while having a dinner for one. Perfectly cooked Filet Mignon, creamed spinach and salad were delicious (and kept me compliant with my Keto diet😃). Very enjoyable experience and friendly service.
Went for lunch. Ordered a glass of Malbec. Terrible, wine tasted like vinegar. The server was really nice ( thats where the two stars come from) so she changed it with a different wine( Pinot noir from Oregon I believe). For my meal I got the burger, which for 18 dollars is miniature and tasteless. Very disappointed. Not coming back for sure!
Experience. At 94 Harry is still manning the door, attentive to every detail and a pleasure to see and visit. Daniel made our meal a special treat. The lobster fried rice, hangar steak and lamb stew are ridiculous. And you dont have to mortgage the house to enjoy a fabulous dining experience. Cheers!
Ok so cool venue, love a dark and rustic steak house. Although maybe a little dark in parts. Actually ended up eating more of the fat on my steak than intended simply because I couldnt actually see what I was eating. So the good.. Venue plus the staff managed a really shouty customer very well and generally they were pretty attentive. The not so good... The ribeye sirloin was way over seasoned with salt. I love salt, dont get me wrong l, just not to the point it leaves that salt smacking after taste. The recommend hash browns were also dry and flavourless.Could be great, hope it was a one off but I was genuinely disappointed as with a rating this high I know I could have had a much better steak elsewhere.
I was craving a good burger one night after a workout and Harry’s happened to be across the street. Nice underground atmosphere at the bar where I ate. I got a kobe burger with fries. Burger was dry and fries were not that great. It hit the spot regardless but a bit pricey for ok food. Service was was friendly. I probably ordered the wrong thing.
As a vegetarian, you would think Id stray from steakhouses. The exception is Harrys Cafe. Not only do they offer plenty of mouth-watering, veg-friendly sides and small dishes, but the quiet ambiance is unparalleled in New York (especially in the Stone Street area). The ridiculously spacious bar and restaurant is accented with an impressive wine collection throughout. In my experience, the food is always delicious, staff always friendly & knowledgeable and easily one of my favorite spots downtown.

2021-12-30This is an absolutely amazing place to have diner. We bought the Holiday Feast to go on Christmas eve and it was incredible, sincerely the best decision that we took. The food was well-prepared and wrapped, everything ready to finish at home or serve at the moment.A few years ago we used to live pretty close to Harrys and always was a great option for special occasions. This time was and extraordinary surprise, I didnt imagine the great flavor of the dishes and fair portions.I really recommend it not only to enjoy in doors, also you can book the dinner for some important dates.

2022-01-24Great place for drinks and for steaks! I highly recommend trying the tiramisu alcohol shot for dessert instead of going off whatever they have on the menu. I was in town for business, but many locals also visit here too, its a great mix and a great social atmosphere!

2022-05-31I came to Harry’s on Friday during lunch and we went all out. My partner and I ordered the seafood tower with a whole gang load of sides. We also got the chocolate pudding for desert. The service was great. They usually only serve the seafood tower for dinner, but they agreed to throw it together for us in the middle of the day. We felt very taken care of.

2022-02-15Just visit already! although there’s some history here, the place is not stodgy but rather refined and classy. our waiter had been there for awhile and was very hospitable. order their famous martini (they only pour you half and the other half sits in an ice bowl at your table to remain chilled 🧊), get the table side caeser, and try the Canadian bacon as an appetizer. my new favorite discovery!

2022-02-25Definitely, it’s was my first and last time. I would never ever stop at such a disgusting place once again.I had the NY Strip Steak … seriously it was disgusting. You can’t call this a steak, what a joke! The service was less than average and surprisingly he was expecting +25% tips, what a joke! I paid + $115 at such a disgusting dinner.✅ Disgusting foods & drinks✅ Horrible desserts✅ Overpriced❌ Not recommended at all. Don’t waste your time.

2022-05-29No matter the weekend, we are ALWAYS up for Harry’s bottomless brunch! I’d say it’s one of the best kept secrets in the area.Be careful walking up the steps post brunch because the servers will keep the champagne flowing with the purchase of an entree. I never miss an opportunity to grab their breakfast sandwich and my fiancé LOVES the steak and eggs here.We 10/10 recommend Harry’s for brunch every weekend!!

2022-04-30Overall, 4 / 5. The dry aged NY Strip had a very good dry aged taste and was cooked absolutely perfect (5/5). We had the lobster cocktail appetizer, but it was rubbery and significantly overcooked (2/5). Whole Branzino was good, but just overall a bit ordinary (3/5). Broccolini side was cooked good, but I expected a bit larger side portion (4/5). Portofino Royal vodka cocktail was strong and tasty (5/5). The Botanist gin cocktail was tasty but not strong and therefore didnt have a nice gin/floral taste (4/5).

2021-12-20Chill/ confused experience. Is this a coffee house or a cocktail bar?My girlfriend and I stopped by for a drink after finding “the cauldron” was closed. Looks like a coffee shop, acts like a bar. We ordered the espresso martini as we typically do to test out a new place- we really liked it. A lot more on the espresso side than our usual experience but I liked the change of pace. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable, and engaged freely with the (few) other patrons. A great lounge spot, even for a Monday. I hope to see this new spot flourish.
