Nice store with high quality shoes and boots. Many well known good quality American and European brands.I just moved into the neighbourhood and stopped in on my way home from a walk. I was shocked to met by a staff member who just slowly looked me up and down making me feel completley uncomfortable, while I heard her greet many other customers warmly while I was in the store. Unlucky for your business, I regularly purchase many of the brands you stock and after this unwelcoming experience I certainly wont be spending my money in your store.Well done to your staff working on 11/17 between 5 and 6pm, hope their bonus are based on commission. Lol
The best place for shoes for kids. Personalized service = best deal on shoes and shoes that actually fit for kids. I always hated new shoes when I was growing up because I felt it was never a good fit. I promised myself that my kids will always feel comfortable even in new shoes because good posture develops with propey fitted shoes. And Harrys delivers that!!! And the little ones get a balloon everytime we leave. The people are just so amazing and nice. My go to place for kids feet❤❤❤
My sister suggested this place. I can understand if its not for everyone because they are very direct. But they will put you in shoes that fit you. They know their shoes, they know what they are selling, and you should trust them. This is the way people should buy shoes. I cant wait to go back. Being from Arizona, I give a lot of credit to honesty. These people are honest and upfront. Go and make sure you tell them exactly what you want and for what price. Take your time.
Great selection, great service - that was my experience. Khan was the salesperson helping me when I recently bought a new pair of work shoes. He applied no pressure - helped me try on five or six pairs and encouraged me to take my time. Turns out the pair I bought were too small, and Khan and the store manager were totally helpful in swapping me out for the right size, even though I had worn them for a day. Charged me a small restock fee which in my view was totally reasonable.
I called them today because I could not get a order to go through online with them. The lady that answered was rude and said, hello, I then said hello and she said Im going to need you to get your mouth off the phone because you sound like you are in a bottle. I am getting over the flu but I did Not have my mouth over the phone! I made 2 calls before this one and they heard me fine. She had then told me she would look to see if they had the shoes I wanted in stock, they didnt so she started to get my information and was going to have them ordered and shipped to me, great I said. She then tells me the total is over half the price on their website, so she told me that she would talk to a manager and call me back. About 5 minutes later a man Brian called me and said the associate talked to him about the shoe price, and he told me sorry but we are unable to order that shoe for you, I did not understand why they could not order them. He gave no explanation which was very rude! Not even a we can notify you when we have it back in stock or anything! This is the last time I will ever order from them! I had ordered from them 2 previous other times and the soles kept falling out of the shoes but they were comfortable so I kept them.. its too bad because I will being telling all of my co-workers about the bad service, I was promoting them before but not now after them being so rude. Thats bad business!
Bought a pair of shoes for close to 250.00. When I got home I noticed a tear in the seam of both shoes at the top where the foot goes in. Very noticeable. The type of defect that gets worse quickly. I took them back immediately and was given a refund. I asked if they had another pair, the manager replied they only carry one and must sell it before ordering another. HUH? I asked the sales manager, you are going to take these defective shoes and try to sell them to another unsuspecting soul? Some one whisked the manager away. I have not gotten my refund on my card as of 8 days later, and I do not have the shoes. Avoid this place they are not honorable people and charge too much. A good place to see the shoe then go online and order it for less elsewhere. Awful experience will not be back.
I really enjoyed working with Sandy. She helped me find some very comfortable, stylish and good for your feet boots and shoes. She was knowledgeable and friendly. Once she saw the types of shoes I liked, she found some additional pairs that were just terrific. This store has such a great selection of high quality, stylish, and supportive shoes that I would highly recommend it.
Staff is rude and aggressive. Got angry when asked about the bathroom and said it was closed due to Covid regulations. I am not sure what regulation requires them to not let customers use the restroom and tell them to go next door to Barnes and Nobles also public restroom. Needless to say I didnt and wont buy anything from this store.
Today I visited this store, and the worker attending me was so RUDE! It was a middle aged man with glasses. He was snarky with his comments. I asked for some boots and he brought the most worn out ones. I told him I didnt want this shoe because it was creased. Obviously I’m going to pay for a brand new shoe and not a worn out shoe! So I pointed it out and he asked, “What’s the problem?” and clearly pointed at the boot, and he said “it’s going to happened either way!” I decided not to get the boots. (the boot on display looked better than what he had brought out) After I gave him the shoe back, he annoyingly shrugged and tossed the shoe back in the box and said “Oh so all of a sudden you don’t want it anymore?”Maybe this man was having a bad day but why make someone elses day any worse? Please hire better retail workers! I will be back and have another person attend me.
Only ordered online, but the website wouldnt process my order. I called their online customer service and spoke to a knowledgeable and pleasant employee who placed the order for me. I received two pairs of shoes from one of my favorite designers for a steal! Ill continue to shop online, but I hope the website is fixed.
This store clearly offers many high quality (and overpriced) options. Unfortunately, the staff are beyond belief rude and aggressive. I have been in the store several times, thinking maybe someone was just having a bad day so Ill come back another time. But, every time it seems someone is just outright nasty. Most recently, it seems they have some pretty particular rules for COVID--- THIS IS GREAT! These are tough times and we all want to be as healthy and careful as possible. But, if you have quirky rules you cant expect that everyone is going to read your mind. Try asking politely or telling people politely what your policy is instead of immediately jumping down peoples throats and accusing them of being selfish COVID spreaders or barking at them to see if theyve followed your unstated rules. The main guy actually yelled at 2 older women for no reason. Shocking. Politeness and kindness go a long way. I try to go out of my way to support local business... They would really benefit from the awareness that there is a DSW right across the street...
A patient and lovely salesperson, Denise, solved my problems on Sunday when I was desperate to find a pair of dress shoes for an out-of-town event I am going to this week. She went above and beyond and made sure I found a pair of shoes --on sale too, an additional plus. Harrys has a wonderful selection and has made great strides in its customer service as evidenced by Denise.
My husband was treated poorly upon entering the store. He didnt see thedisinfect upon entering sign and a woman yelled at him so that the entire store had to stop and look at him... HEY...you gotta disinfect! He was offended with the uncourteous Hey. He said, can you say excuse me instead. I recognized these are trying times, but a lack of kindness and professionalism is not a good brand.
I came in with the purpose of finding casual shoes that would support my flat feet. Tom (shoe genius extraordinaire) approached me early on to ask if I needed help and directed me to the best shoes! He even brought me additional pairs of shoes from the back room that he felt would be helpful after I described what I was looking for.I am super happy with my experience here and highly recommend Harrys Shoes. Absolutely wonderful customer service and quality shoes. Thanks so much!!
Used to be a repeat customer, but no longer. The service staff is actually quite nice and helpful. I bought a shoe and tried it at home for an hour and it really hurt my feet. I came to return it and the manager on duty has the nastiest attitude. He refused to accept the return. I said okay, fine, I understand your policy, what would you do in my situation if the shoe just doesnt fit right? He kept saying Im not you and not answering my question. He knew he was making it difficult and didnt even try to make anything right. Didnt offer any options other than a nasty attitude. Its too bad one of the only big shoe stores on the upper west side has such awful customer service.
Really great selection of comfortable but not hot shoes. Have patience. Even if you go during the day on a weekend, the place will be busy and the salespeople slow to serve you. This is NOT the place for stilettos or thigh-high boots. What you will find are comfortable, well-made and stylish. I consider the prices very fair for the quality. Good price range.
I have purchased shoes from this store in the past. I like Harrys Shoes for the selection - Pas de Rouge, Antelope, Mephisto. They typically have my size, so Im rarely disappointed in that regard. My complaint about this store is the service, which is hit or miss. The sales people are old-school shoe dogs intent on making the sale. Sometimes this translates into personalized service. Other times you can get the sense that if youre unsure about your purchase, they dont really have time for you.
This shop has the best, and widest selection of shoes from mid-range to high-end, casual to fancy. However, the head manager also has the most obnoxious attitude -- and is not service oriented. The staff is under horrific pressure to sell-sell-sell -- and because of this, they try to pressure YOU into buying when you may not be 100% convinced on the fit, style or otherwise. They only give store credit on returns -- so before you pay you need to be absolutely one-thousand-percent sure you want those shoes.
An irritating disappointment. The store is light and airy, and they have a reasonable selection of mens shoes. It is a family business that makes the neighborhood less sterile.I have tried repeatedly to like this place. But the service is so rude, I just cant. I overheard one salesman tell another in a loud voice about some f_____ a_____. The salespeople - at least in mens shoes - dont know much and act like it is a massive inconvenience to have to get the shoes from the storeroom. And they can just be straight-out rude - making the subway clerks behind bulletproof glass seem friendly and helpful.A series of rude incidents today prompted me to talk to the owner. I hope he sorts it out, or this space will end up as another Bank of America branch.
Harrys, you must hire better staff. All of your shoes can be ordered on the internet, and just because you bring people in to try them on doesnt mean theyre going to give you the commission!I love the selection and thats all that keeps me coming back. Staff is incredibly indifferent and unknowledgeable for a high end shoe store. Management clearly doesnt know what it means to build customer relationships (or doesnt care about their google reviews). If they would just hire better people the rating would undoubtedly be close to 5 stars. Advice to customers: go, but build in some extra time to chase down attendants, and if they piss you off enough just order the shoes online elsewhere (probably for a cheaper price). Thats what I did.
I brought my grandson in for shoe fitting. Clearly the staff were not busy. There was only one other customer in the store. Not one person came over to ask if they could help. The only one who took any initiative was an older sales person who was busy helping a younger child who was crying. He was patient and helpful to them. I was appalled by the contempt shown to customers when clearly staff were just sitting around chatting. If you can look for an older gentleman to help, you may have a different experience than me, but expect little from Harrys Shoes for Kids even when someone finally gets off their duff to help. There was no effort to help with shoe selection either. High price, poor service.
No money back for returns, only store credit. Even on unworn, untouched, next day returns. Very unusual business practice for retail store from my limited experience. Any kind of price comparison online, evaluation, etc - do on the spot. Dont let them rush you to avoid regrets.
Rashita is an amazing at customer service. I am constantly buying shoes and regretting my purchases once I get home and wear them. I have a difficult fit, and always struggle to find comfortable shoes. Rashita brought me out a nice selection of shoes and was able to tell when I tried on each pair what would and wouldn’t work. I am thrilled with the shoes that she sold me! She is so good at what she does! I can’t wait to go back and buy more shoes!!!!!
Salesman convinced me to purchase 1 size smaller shoe than I normally wear. Now the toes on both my left & right feet have big blisters. I took his expert opinion after he pulled out a shoe sizing device to back his claim. Shoes felt tight at the time but he insisted that was my shoe size. The guys that work here do not know how to size peoples feet properly. Ill never buy shoes from this place again.
From my brief look at the reviews posted by other customers, I gather that your experience here will depend in large part on the store employee who takes care of you (or doesnt). In our case, the employee was Natalia (phonetic spelling) and she provided us with fantastic service. My wife Lois and I are going on vacation and Lois needed some good walking shoes. We arrived at the store near its closing time so there was some time pressure about selecting the shoes expeditiously. Also, Loiss feet are between sizes, so the right size for her can vary by manufacturer and model. Natalia worked with Lois quickly and efficiently. Within about an hour, Lois must have tried on a couple of dozen pairs of shoes; thanks to Natalias expert knowledge and advice, Lois was able to select four pairs that fit her extremely well, so well in fact that she purchased all four pairs. Thank you so much, Natalia!
I had the best experience at Harrys Shoes tonight. Franklin helped me. He is knowledgable and makes sure that you have the perfect fit and thus the perfect shoe. He is also a warm and caring person. Its rare to have service with that much genuine care. Ask for him. What a treat.
I stopped by this store to pick up some snow boots for the impending bomb cyclone .Upon my arrival I was not greeted by any sales person. Once I had made my selection I had to ask a sales person for help. The sales person was not very friendly and seemed to be annoyed by my questions on sizing. I get to the register to cash out and present the cashier with my cc only for to tell me I didnt go threw. Which was bizarre. I am not the wealthiest person but I know I did indeed have money in my account. I opted to use cash instead as I was already upset because of the customer service.. BUT THATS NOT THE WORST PART OF THIS WHOLE ORDEAL.I DISCOVER THE NEXT MORNING THAT THEY HAD GIVEN ME TO MIS MATCHED BOOTS!!SO I HAD TO TREK BACK TO THE STORE DURING THE BOMB CYCLONE TO CHANGE THE BOOTS. The manager and associates were not apologetic in the least. This store has a great selection of shoes, but HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
I went in b/c I wanted to try to support local business. I bought boots that i was not sure about and mentioned that Id try them out in the house for a few days. The salesman said nothing. I was unaware of the store policy of NO RETURNS FOR REFUND! I would have never even guessed they still use a policy from the 70s. It is posted at the checkout but I was trying to keep an eye on my 6 year old son who was running around the store. Needless to say no one ever mentioned it to me and now Im stuck with a store credit. If you go in make sure you know this policy. Or better yet, order from Zappos.
We purchased approximately several pairs of shoes from Harrys for my family in the past two years, and have always had a pleasant experience.Today, we went to the store and sought out a sales rep to get snow boots to try , whose name was Guido. Guido politely said let me check with another associate because I just made a sale, we work on commission, there arent alot of customers today and we take turns to sell. He then returned and said he was happy to help us. However, as we was helping us and was about to go back to get our shoes, another (wealthy) looking lady entered the store and Guido stopped getting our one pair shoes and immediately started helping her. He just started bringing out shoes for her while at this point we were waiting in our socks for our shoes to come. When we asked him, his reply was sorry life is not what you picture it to be.The manager also seemed hardly interested as perhaps he has no ability to better train the sales reps. Retailing is a customer driven business and our needs werent exactly high maintenance. We wound up leaving.
I ordered a pair of rockport dressluxe which I have been using for years for work but needed a new pair. Couldnt find a pair my size anywhere online or in person but Harrys had it. They shipped it fast, and it arrived in excellent condition. Thanks guys. Will be doing business again with them
Stood there awkwardly for almost 10 minutes waiting for someone to assist me. Made eye contact with at least 5 of the employees who walked past me without asking if I was being helped. I get that I look young, but honestly, this isnt a problem that Ive encountered to this degree before. Usually I chalk something like this up to staff being busy, but this was excessive. After asking about the specific pair of shoes I was looking for the store didnt have them. Would rather support a NYC business than Amazon but unfortunately couldnt make that happen today. Bummer.
Bought a pair of expensive waterproof boots. Loved the style and comfort. My toes got wet when walking in slush. Tried to return them. They said they had to do a leak test which took longer than expected. When they finally got back to me, the manager said the leak test showed the boot does not get wet inside. I was in shock. My grey socks had a large line of water by my toes. My feet got wet 3-4 times. The boots are clearly not waterproof. The store should have returned them to the manufacturer rather than lose a customer.
I like their shoe selection a lot, but so bummed because of the customer service. Called this morning to make sure before I made the trek on the subway that they had the 2 pairs of boots (on their website) in my size. A woman was helpful took down the brand, style and sizes and color and went downstairs to check they were in stock. She got back on the phone and said they were. So a few hours later I come to the store. Walked around for 10 minutes looking for a representative. Finally found someone who was helpful but said he couldnt find any of what I had asked for downstairs and they wouldnt be coming in until later this month. So one or the other was flat out lying 😂I sadly will be taking my business elsewhere now.
I was reluctant to go because I had been twice before and found the sales staff to be aggressive and rude, but as I was passing I saw a nice pair of shoes and popped in. The person who helped me was very sweet, but as we were checking out we were scolded by a sales clerk because we had momentarily set a drink down on a chair. Told to “use our common sense” when a “would you mind not putting your drink there?” would have sufficed. I have noticed issues with the staff mentioned in reviews a lot. I guess the issue is systemic or management just doesn’t care how people are treated.
Harrys has the best shoes for men with wide feet. The women and children shoes are very stylish. School shoes for children have great foot support. This is only store that will have old fashioned Buster Brown feel, comfort, and support...ever lasting shoes! Oh, if you decide you bring shoes back only store credit is given.
Do you want the cheapest shoes or do you want comfortable shoes that last? Do you want to go to a store staffed by loss recovery associates or a store where the staff know about the stock and care that you leave happy. If Bedford Falls in its a wonderful life had a shoe store, it would be Harrys
I was very excited to try to find high quality shoes since the store does have a huge selection. I did break my ankle before so I have a hard time finding shoes that provide the right comfort. The first thing that I noticed after browsing for awhile that felt off putting was no one has once asked me if I needed any help. Personally, Im not bothered by this since I like to be left alone while taking my time to browse. However, it took approximately 30 minutes before I was able to find someone who was available to help me.Once I did find someone, I asked her if she could help me find a particular style. Immediately, she brought me pair of shoes that costed $400. I mentioned that Im not interested in something that costs that much and I prefer looking for something closer to the $150-$200 range. She calls out to another worker and basically yells Do we have anything that costs less than $100?. She turns to me and said We dont have anything that cost that much. I never felt so embarrassed. I told her that Im holding shoes that costs $100 and I just want something in leather. Before I could finish my sentence, she interrupts me by saying Those are the only shoes we have. Do you want to try them on or not?.After trying them on and told her that Im not interested in these pairs, she tells me Why dont you go to Payless? They probably have something in your budget. And left without another word.Like I mentioned, I personally dont care about slow or disinterested customer service. However after leaving the store empty handed, I have never felt so bad about myself.
They have a good selection of high quality shoes but their service is so bad its not even worth it. The staff is rude and snobby and wont help unless they think youre about to make a huge purchase (or that they can talk you into one). Easier to just buy online instead of begging their staff for assistance.
Selection is great but beware of their return policy, store credit only even on defective returns, and of anything like special orders. I bought a pair of snow boots there with a defective zipper. In order to get a replacement the manager insisted that I leave a deposit. I was told that the replacement boots would be free but that their system wouldnt let them order them without me leaving a deposit. The boots never came in but the store wouldnt refund the deposit.
Absolutely horrible experience - they tried to upsell me with sneakers I never asked for , then the salesman said he “didn’t like my attitude” when I asked him why. He then physically threatened me when I said I didn’t appreciate his poor service . I was then asked to leave by the manager ( whom I had previously observed instructing his employer to upsell me ) because I had “used profanity” in response to the Physical threat - I am a longtime resident of the upper west side who has shopped there and at the kids store multiple times but I will never shop there again. I am also consulting my attorney.
When I need shoes, I always go to Harrys because they have the best selection of sensible shoes in NYC. I like that the salespeople actually wait on you and help you with your shoes. They give good old fashioned service and they even use shoe horns. They dont sell cheap shoes. They sell good shoes.
Near the 1 train on the upper west city, Harrys has concierge service for the shoe lover. This store has the highest quality products that are sure to please your feet. From formal to casual, boots, booties, sneakers, loafers, etc for both women and men. Besides footwear, Harrys has accessories such as specialty socks, hats and bags. I love this store.
Do not buy from this store or online. Bought some uggs boots, for an adult size 8. Received a 8 for a toddler. Send them back. They said they gave me back my money.BUT MY BANK statements SAY THEY DIDNT!!!. I am PISSED OFF!! then after I send the shoes back no refund & they took another $7.95. Dont make sense to me. Why are you taking extra money out my bank I ordered the boots on the 16 of December they took this $7.95 on December 23. PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THESE CROOKS.!!!!! HARRYS SHOE STORE ARE CROOKS!!!!
I love to walk and walking was becoming agony. My foot Dr. recommended Harrys and Im glad I went. I have very high arches and I under pronate , so I walk on the outside of my feet. I also have a bone deformity in my right foot that puts even more pressure on the outside of my foot.Ive spent hundreds of dollars on custom orthotics that dont help. The saleswoman at Harrys put me on their machine, and handed me the proper orthotics to put in my shoes. It took a few days to get used to them, but I am finally walking pain free. I also picked up some cute Merrells to wear indoors. The salespeople are very friendly and go out of their way to help. I cannot recommend this store enough!
Harrys shoes has a huge selection of designer shoes for men and women. They are a bit expensive but for the service and individual attention of the expert salespeople along with the selection and top notch quality of the merchandise you cant go wrong and I doubt that youll regret shopping there.
Will never bother to come here again. Ive been to this store twice. Neither time was I ever acknowledged much less approached to be helped. The second time I asked a passing salesman if he could grab another size for me, and he rudely stated that he had just picked up a customer. He did end up grabbing me one pair of shoes, but made a point to tell his customer, so that I would hear, that his service to her was interrupted by me asking him for help. TERRIBLE service!
The store is famous for a good quality, high prices and no return. In general we can live with a greedy store management. But the quality a must! Sometimes a big prolapse — Today I bought Clarks (so-so company) shoes — comfortable Cadell Petal — obviously overpriced — 85.00 dol. Textile upper, Balance man made — in short Ruber — smells badly now at home — did not smell at the time of purchase. Such a quality is a shame for Harrys shoes — I bought shoes because they are comfortable — and administration knows that — old women are welcome for comfortable shoes. But there should not be a Ruber shoes — bad quality.
Horrible service! I ordered shoes online. They sent me the wrong size. Never answer on my email. I sent it back to exchange, no answer. The phone number most of the time is out of service. Finally, they got the phone to tell me that they sent to me size 36.5 because I order size 5.5 and it should perfectly fit!!!!!! BUT IT IS ONE SIZE BIGGER! So now Im waiting for my money back. I hope Ill get it sooner or later.
Fantastic shoe store!!! Ive had arthritis since age 12, have had several foot surgeries & use orthotics my doctor designed for me.I needed some new Merrill sneakers & some winter snow boots. A Harrys salesman came over to me & asked me if I needed help & I sure did - Harrys has the most extensive variety of shoes Ive ever seen!!! Theres so much to choose from! His name is Guido - pronounced Geedo - and he was so great! He listened carefully to what I wanted - I told him I needed new Merrill sneakers & boots for snow & ice. He asked me if I wanted waterproof sneakers (the ones I had werent waterproof) & I said, Yes! Thank you! (Id forgotten to ask for that.) I also told him my old boots were too tight & I wanted boots with really good grip in the soles for ice & snow.He measured my feet & then showed me a pair of boots that have special metal cleats in the soles that you can hide when its not icy & flip out when it is - amazing!!He went & got a couple of samples of sneakers & the boots in my size.I took off my sneakers & was having trouble removing the orthotics from them to put them in the new shoes & Guido said, Let me do that. So sweet! He also put the orthotics in the new sneakers, which is a little hard for me too. The sneakers were sooooo comfortable!!Then I tried on the boots - they were soooo warm & comfy & cute! I bought them & the sneakers. The process SO stress-free!!! The best experience buying shoes EVER!!! I wrote his name & the days he works so I will never miss a chance to have his help buying shoes.
I asked twice for assistance and was given very rude remarks about them being busy. One woman who i asked earlier for help saw me still looking around and impatiently asked if Id been helped and when i said no she muttered rudely under her breath. She got me my shoes in a timely manner, but Id asked for a size us8/eu38 not a 9/39. They were too big and so she then had be try on the display saying it way the next size down but they were way too small. i googled a chart later on us to eu sizing and learned that shed had be try on a size 6!!! Very poor service and i certainly wont be going back.
I stoped by this store yesterday to have a look. First salesman, whom I asked to bring me a pair of shoes, was not very glad when I asked him. However, he brought me a pair but different color and said that it was very cute and nice! I didnt need this color. Second saleswoman was nicer, found couple pairs of boots that I was looking for, but was expecting me to buy ( i guess) all of them. Finally, I bought 2 pairs. At home I decided that I dont like something about the boots what I actually didnt like in the store, but the saleswoman said was good. Today I went to return! And.. I couldnt! You have to get a store credit. They were not nice at all! Rude! Said that it is there policy and they have a sign and it is on the receipt. I wonder how I should read the receipt before I bought boots.I decided to have a look for shoes for my husband. I asked for help. They just said to me to have a look by myself! Service is awfull no matter how much money you have spent there! No mood to come back at all. Just I have too, because I dont want to give them my 350$! I am so upset. Dont have words!Prices are expensive for this quality and brands!
Witnessed a sales representative trying to talk an elderly lady into buying shoes that clearly did not fit her because there were no other sizes available. We can just put an extra pad under the tongue to make them fit better. Lame! I will never give them my business.
And Harrys is an example of why I buy online. Tried to help a local business and it ended up a massive and unnecessary time wasting experience; Stood around for ages trying to get someone to help me. When finally I did I asked for Hunter tall boots in 7. The guy disappears. And I mean disappears--all the other salesmen are coming and going and this guy, nope.15 minutes later finally someone notices and asks if I need help--he goes in to find the salesman who comes out and says that since they didnt have 7 tall he started trying to find short boots in 7 or tall boots in other sizes (!) Obviously he has no concept that before wasting a customers time perhaps he should have come out and asked if I wanted him to check other sizes and styles to which the resounding reply would have been NOOOO! Never again.
Plan your trip! I havent been able to beat Harrys for my hard-to-fit wide feet. Yet, I must work at it. Ill scan the staff for a while to look for one I either have worked with before and recognize or someone I see treating an old lady with compassion (Im not an old lady, just looking for considerate sale-help). I plan to go in during off-peak hours. If the help is rude, I leave. Using these methods, I have increased my experiences to 100% success...after much trial and error.
Disappointed. Its a big shop with a huge range and lovely fitout, but when I asked about wider fittings I was pointed to a single brand. Nothing appealed (or seemed to be under $180) and when I questioned if that was really their only wider fitting range was told it was. Thats hard to believe, but it was pretty clear that they werent interested in showing me anything else.
So far it has not been good. I ordered a pair of boots online 12/27/15. On 1/6/16 I received an email to say they had shipped, however they sent me an incorrect tracking number. Every time I call to find out information it goes to voicemail and I have not received a response. I will not order from this company again.
This our favorite shoe store for shoe shopping for Mia. We shopped for her first ever walking shoes here, and we had great experience. First of all they can child measure foot well, secondly they can advise well the shoes that are healthy for walking toddlers that put their first steps. We had great experience buying shoes here for Mia ( who was 11 months old at the time) and all three pair of shoes were great choice together with one pair of slippers that Mia loves. Shoe-shopping here was fun, staff was friendly and knowledgeable.Mia also made friends with other shoe-shoppers! At the end Mia got a pink baloon which made baby even more happy! Thank you Harrys Kids Store for such a great experience and for great shoes that serve us well until now!
Had a great experience! The gentle men couldnt have nicer and more helpful - ESPECIALLY TOM!After shopping long and hard at other stores where everything is sooo overpriced and no one helps you, this was customer service at its best! Nice to know some things NYC dont change:-)
First AND LAST time Harrys Shoes Buyer ... Ordered two pairs of same shoes on sale on 10/20/2016 via phone through store (not online or 1-800 number as I was having a problem ordering them via the website, I was assured that the shoes were exactly as shown in pic on website. Received shoes about 7 business days later, both shoes were wrong color. I was looking for a grape purple color as shown on website, what arrived in box was a lighter pastel color. Was busy and didnt call back until today (11/23/2016), I was told that sale items are not returnable, and even if they were their return policy is 15 days (mind you it took about 7 days to receive shoes). I get that I missed the 15 day return window, although that was not told to me over the phone when I placed the order, but I would have thought they would have worked with me and even offered a store credit to show good customer service. AGAIN, I would like to stress, I have a print screen that the shoe they advertised on their website was the color I wanted but what I received was a lighter pastel version, but when I explained that to the guy on the phone he said that it could have been the monitor I was viewing it on, yet I offered to send the print screen that I had and he said it didnt matter. Also, the hold time on the phone both times I called (to place the order and also to inquire about returning them) I was on hold for AT LEAST 20 minutes each time! SEVERELY disappointed with Harrys Shoes and will not order from again. :(
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!! I looked for UGGS rainbow caplan mural slip-on sneakers in size 13T for my daughter for the Jojo Siwa concert/school for days n days.. b4 I came across ur website n there they were. I have to admit I was skeptical at 1st n thought mayb it was advertised wrong or something bc Amazon has done that more then once to me, until I opened the FedEx box n BOOM THERE THEY WERE, CORRECT SIZE N ALL. SHIPPED QUICKLY FROM NY TO MY FRONT DOOR IN MD. I was in amazement n my daughter was thrilled!! Harrys is my go to shoe store from now!! Thank u!
I had a wonderful experience this week at Harrys. I worked with a terrific fitter named Rashard. I went into buy one pari of boots and because she understood my foot and my foot problems she showed me boots that would work for me. I ended up buying 2 pairs and Im loving both. So thank you Rashard.
I had called around looking for some shoes from Olukai. The company told me that Harrys was the only place that bought them. When I called Harrys, they had a bad attitude on the phone... typical angry new yorker bullshit. I am from this city too, doesnt mean its ok to be a jerk to your customers on the phone.More importantly, the reason I was REALLY pissed was that they mockingly told me oh no, boots were sent back already. What the heck does that mean? When I asked, I was told they sent them back to Olukai because they needed to make room for spring shoes.Well let me tell you Mr Shoe Salesman, this is an all-year shoe. Furthermore, its STILL WINTER. Which means that people still need to buy boots right now. Do you see snow and ice and slush on the streets? I DO. So do you think Im going to buy mesh sneakers and spring shoes right now? Heck no. Leave your patronizing attitude at home. When I suggested that the store take advantage of the fact that nobody else in NYC has this brand regularly available and that he should increase rather than decrease stock, he mocked me.I know how a retail business runs and I know that its rotten to send your shoes back when you could keep selling them or close them out. How is this now the responsibility of Olukai because you bought too many? Makes no sense as a business plan.Sure, you have limited shelf space. SO LIMIT YOUR BRANDS and selections. Dont just buy a shoe to sell it for 2-3 momths then send it back. What a load of crap. And this was the MANAGER talking to me... Learn how to manage and deal with customers. Dont be a jerk and listen to your customers when they call and suggest stuff, dont mock them.
A staple of the Upper West Side Harrys Shoes is one of the best places to find sneakers to Robert Clergeries in New York. The staff is what makes the experience; they are real sales people who actually see you through from measurement to cash register. And dont forget the great end of season saleshave fun
BUYER BEWARE. Harrys Shoes will not honor the return of defective products so be sure to note the manufacturers warranty when considering a purchase or go to a store with a backbone (i.e. major department stores). My wife bought an expensive pair of waterproof boots that the salesperson claimed would last for years. When they started leaking at the start of the second winter season, she took them back for a leak test. The leak test confined the leak. Unfortunately, Harrys would not extend the warranty on the boots beyond the manufactures 4 month guarantee. That was one heck of an expensive season and one terrible customer service experience.
Harrys has been my go to store and Rashida is my go to person at this store. Rashida gives me that personal attention that I used to get when I shoped at any retail establishment. I am that person who likes to share info and Harrys is often mentioned in my conversation whenever the topic of shoes is brought up and Rashida is recommened for the associate to ask for so right on Rashida you are an asset to Harrys Shoes.
Clearly the salesman dont know how to sell to a millenial. Im staring at a Teva and he tells me how great Clarks and ecco wear. I dont care how great those are, offer me the shoe Im holding! Then as hes talking to me, hes clearing his teeth and looking in another direction. Not to mention they swarmed me like vultures when I came in the door. No thank you.
The one older gentleman really knew exactly how to guide us. This was our first experience shopping for our daughters shoes and she was a year old. You come in, they greet you and they measure the size of your childs foot. We were going to get two pair and he saved us money and told us we would only need one because theyre feet grow so fast. I will definitely be back!
HORRIBLE!!! I was mocked by the manager of harrys shoes. I was browsing around and the manager comes and stand next to me and looks at me up and down laughing to himself than asks what do you wear? steve madden? and than proceeds to laugh at me whilst staring at my shoes. I felt like putting him in his place but decided he was not worth it. I doubt anything will be done. the owner clearly is bad when it comes to judgment of character, or maybe they are two birds of a feather. later after I calmed down and asked for his name he claimed it was ramsey this prejudice man should not be managing anything but his attitude tours other people.
Super quick in and out. Put my name on list, was called 2 minutes later. They measured and fitted my son for his first pair of shoes while he was sleeping without waking up. They recommended the shoe they thought was best for him at the time, which also happened to be one of the cheapest. Will be back.
We took my son there yesterday. They fit him for shoes. They only had about 3 different pairs to choose from for his size and said if I had come earlier in the season they would have had more... (Dont you go when your kid grows out of their current shoes?????) We ended up buying a pair of shoes and these arch insoles they insisted that he needed. Cost $99 after everything. I expected to spend around that so that was not what bothered me. We left and went to Central Park. About 2 hours after we bought the shoes, my son was complaining of pain. I took off the shoes to find that they left a horrible mark on the bone on top of his foot. I called this morning and said I wanted to return them. They refuse to take them back, they would only do a store credit... I dont want a store credit as I spent almost 2 hours in the store yesterday and ended up with the pair we ended up with because they didnt have anything else for him. Why take a store credit if they dont have anything in stock for him. He needs shoes now and I will need to take him somewhere else. I asked around and some friends told me to bring the shoes back to the store and then dispute the charge on my card. I did so. In the process, my card company calls the store to try and work things out. The store manager (who happened to fit my son for the shoes) tells them that he thinks we came in to buy the shoes just for him to wear to an event so that we can return it after... Seriously????????????? What event?????? I live in the heights and shlepping to the UWS just to have to go back the next day to return shoes is not how I want to spend my time. I work full time. I dont have the time for that kind of thing. I am annoyed about his attitude, about them not willing to take back a pair that was worn for a mere 2 hours. This was my very first experience there... Was trying to go there as the place I have gone previously is all the way in Rockland County and I did NOT want to spend the time going there... But they think I have the time to simply buy shoes for my son to wear to an event then come back and return them????????? I feel bad disputing the charge but they do not have anything for him for right now and he needs shoes. I am sending my husband back into the store with the shoes and insoles in the boxes they came in and he will give it back to them and then we will dispute the charge. Just so frustrated. Should have just gone to Rockland to begin with. So much for trying a new place.
Although the selection is good, the shopping experience is ruined by an overly pushy, rude and aggressive staff. For example, I witnessed a salesperson suggest to another customer her son had a social disorder, then proceed to discuss examples with another salesperson. The mother was visibly upset by the exchange.
Went into the store to buy shoelaces after mine broke. I showed them the old shoelace, gave them the measurement and they sold me a pair of laces without packaging and told me it was the same size. When I tried to put them in the shoes, the size was wrong. What sort of a shoe store is unable to sell laces correctly?

2022-07-31I had a great experience at Harrys buying some comfy sandals for an upcoming trip. The sales associated, Guido, was very helpful in bringing out several styles to try (based on the original item I picked out) and also brought a few things that were from the sale rack. It was wonderful to sit and try things on without feeling pressured and getting to see which things felt most comfortable.I had put off this shopping day for a long time dreading it - but the whole experience was wonderful and Ill definitely be back for fall shoe shopping!

2022-06-28Thought this was an exceptional store with a great selection and great policies. I bought a pair of Olukai sandals for $100. I wore them for 10 minutes and they cut up my feet so bad I was wearing a band-aide and in pain for a week. I went back to the store to ask to exchange them for a different model and they told me no returns or exchanges after they were worn. Even if they tore up my skin.

2022-08-08One of the worst experiences shopping. Rudest ever salesman. Wouldn’t buy the stupid Samuel Hubbard shoes he insisted I buy — as if he made them himself or was working for Mr Hubbard — and said everything else was out of stock. Shoe after shoe — out of stock! When I said the ones he recommended were uncomfortable, he said “get out.”I support independent shops always. But this store can go under, for all I care.

2022-06-10Worst customer service and exchange policy of any shoe or clothing store I have ever tried. The staff is rude and the selection very grumpy for NYC. I have no idea how they stay in business.

2022-04-25Johanna a shoe expert tried to find shoes that fit my problem foot. I was able to leave with saddles. I hope to go again to buy shoes and boots.

2018-12-02Extensively experienced and friendly salesmen. Very wide selection of children’s footwear, including less usual Australian imports. The store includes a relic from its old days; a krank-operated kinomachine for one penny! Prices very fair for products of high quality. Unisex bathroom available and kept immaculate.

2022-07-02Very sad to see that a store is still handing out balloons to kids, even though there is so much more awareness about how bad released balloons are for the environment and especially wildlife.
