I dont recommend this church even though its a Christian church and the Pastor teaches verse by verse of the Bible. There are very strong CLIQUES that exist for years and years. Its the in crowd versus the out crowd. When I asked one of the in crowders why this is so, he said its based on the money one has because they go to pricey restaurants after the Sunday services. Plus its who they like. The in crowds are wives of those in leadership or the choir members. They invite each other in parties, weddings, house warnings, etc without inviting the congregation. This is very very sad and disgusting for a Christian church to practice. Pastor Mike Finizio tried to put an end to this but the ties of those involved in the CLIQUES are very strong. No wonder, even though the church has been in existence for 40+ years, it never grew. Why? Because God sees everything and He is just.

A phenomenal fellowship. Worship was so full of the Holy Spirit. We absolutely loved our worship time. People are super friendly. Pastor Mike goes deep into the WORD. A phenomenal teacher. Highly recommend it. Definitely going back next time we’re in NYC.

Im from Portland Oregon and attend Calvary Chapel Southeast there in Milwaukie. Finding myself traveling to, and working a lot in Manhattan, life on the road can be tough and I really needed a church home away from home.Harvest Church is part of the Calvary Chapell Clan and I knew I would get solid biblical teaching there. I was right!And heart felt worship allows me to connect with those around me in a way that honors God and builds connection with each other.I will attend faithfully when my schedule allows.

Great Pastor! I wrote about him in response to this Quora question: How did a stranger make you feel better when you were having a bad day?I flew from Ohio to California for a conference with my 10 month old daughter. My husband traveled ahead for business and questioned how I would manage. I assured him “we will be fine; how hard can this be?”I was soon to learn how hard it could be! Not only was it challenging to lug the car seat (not so user friendly back then), diaper bag, luggage….all alone, but to do it with a colicky baby. Therefore, she cried frequently, and loudly! Soooo she cried on the way to the airport before we arrived, she cried before and after I fed her, she cried as we were boarding…Needless to say, I was given a few of THOSE looks which said “Take care of your baby! Quiet her down!” I was given advice “you need to put a blanket on her she must be cold!” You get the idea.I gave her medication so that she could sleep and be comfortable, but it didn’t kick in right away. When meal service was delivered. I tried to eat my meal, and manage my daughter at the same time. It was a challenge.That is when the man across the aisle came over and quietly complimented me on how I was juggling everything so well! He was the same man who helped me put my overhead luggage in the compartment. I thought that he must not have been watching closely or he wouldn’t have complimented me. The next amazing thing he does is ask if he can hold my daughter while I eat my meal. He explains that he is a father of 5 and that he will sit next to me so that I can supervise my daughter while taking time to enjoy my lunch! He was so kind and encouraging! My daughter liked him and even settled in nicely while he held her, played with her….! He made me feel better and cared for! This kind stranger helped me at the end of the flight as well. He was like a pack horse carrying all of my baby paraphernalia. He made my day!Now, for the amazing part of the story! When I got to CA and told my husband the story of the kind man named Mike Finizio, he said “I know Mike! He is the Senior Pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship Manhattan. I used to visit his church whenever I had business trips in New York! He is the real deal, that sounds just like him!” What a small world!On a side note, after 911 I read an article about ground zero and guess whose name was mentioned? Yes! Mike Finizio! Here is an excerpt from that article:“A group of exhausted New York City firemen sat in the back of a pick-up truck at Ground Zero. Mike Finizio, pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Man- hattan, approached them to check on their condition.“How are you guys doing?” Mike asked in his New York accent.“Hey, not so bad, friend,” they responded. One could detect the weariness the men were feeling after being at the site of the World Trade Center for close to two months.“You fellows take care of yourselves. All of you are doing a terrific job and the whole country appreciates it,” said Mike. The truck was ready to roll back toward the piles of rubble. The men thanked him for his concern.“You have to take every opportunity to let these men know that you are concerned about their welfare,” said Mike. “Sometimes a pat on the back can make all the difference.”

As a guest to the city during Christmas, it’s disappointing that this non denominational church doesn’t have a Christmas Eve and or Christmas Day service.
