30 something minutes in line after buying tickets online for $55 for two people, two hours sitting around waiting for the actual ride. Not worth it. They need more things to occupy your time while waiting, and some heat! The ride itself was fun, but not worth it. The guy talking on the ride was very rude to my boyfriend because he didnt want his feet over the side so he tried to split us up so we couldnt sit together. Wont be going back.
Won’t be back until you either limit ticket sales or sell timed tickets. Although my kids like the experience, people wanting to come should be aware that you can wait 2-4 hours to ride. There are no refunds, so by the time you get here and find out your wait is 3 hours you’re screwed.
I was just here on Saturday for the first time in years and I wasnt sure what to expect. We picked a terrible night because Saturdays are the busiest. When I say we waited in line for 2 and a half hours, I am not exaggerating. 2 1/2 hour wait for a 15 minute hayride. I definitely jumped a little during the hayride and there were some cool creepy people, but it wasnt worth the wait. It was fun to do something different, and they definitely put in a lot of energy into making it the best possible experience, but I probably wouldnt go back.
I first started going to the Haunted Hayrides of Greater Rochester about 15 years ago after I gave one of the owners a ride to the hospital. They thanked my partner and I with a pair of tickets to enjoy the Hayrides. This is by far my favorite haunted exhibit I have ever been to. I went every year, at least once a year, until about 6 years ago. I dont get scared by anything, but the actors and staff are truly amazing. They do a very excellent job putting on their shows every year. They try and change things up every year to keep things fresh and exciting as well. Plus, you get three things for the price of one. The 3D maze, the hayride, and finally a haunted house. To add to their novelty, there are narrators on the wagons, rather than it just being a ride through the dark waiting for things to jump out at you.So, why did I stop going? Well, I enjoyed the experience and the show so much I decided to join the team! I used to complain a little about the long wait, but knowing how the operation works has given me an understanding, which makes me realize why the waits are so long, and it is because of how immensely popular this place is. The put an average of 35 people on each wagon, and run 6 wagons at a time. The ride is about half an hour. That means they are moving an average of over 400 people per hour. So, get there early, and if you want to ensure a great seat on the wagon, get in line early. This year, they offer line jumper tickets. These tickets are a premium, so there is an extra charge, but it allows you to get on a wagon at your specified time, bo waiting in line. Other options include VIP and private wagons.
The tickets for 2 of us were $56. Not that it was a problem. The problem was the ride. There were so many people on the wagon that we had to sit in the middle. We are not kids and having to sit cross legged in the wagon was miserable. Sitting in the middle we were unable to see the actors. We asked security to sit on the edge and they said it was first come first serve basis. We went to the ticket counter but there is a no refund policy. I would have been happy with an apology but there wasnt any of that either. At least the parking was ok and we were able to leave easy enough.
A group of us went for the opening night last night (2016). We had so much fun. I took my 6 year old which I was a little nervous about. But it was great. There was a little fear factor for all of us. The actors were great. And when my daughter started getting a little too scared they high fived her and backed off a little. We all had a blast. I would defiantly go again. I recommend this place for sure.
This was my first time experiencing the haunted hayride, My friends warned us that the line wait would be long so we got there early around 5:30 PM We were called in by 7:00 PM, but we had a good time, From what I hear this place is always packed because It is a main attraction , So I could understand why its so pricey and why the lines are so long. FYI The haunted house was too fun.! Watch Out for those clowns.!!
First of all, $28/person is pretty expensive. They over-sat the hayride and my friends and I had to sit in the middle instead of along the edge like everybody else. The hayride is about 90% of the , and we weren’t able to see anything or be scared by the actors. I paid $28 to sit on wood and watch other people enjoy a hayride. Don’t overbook, that sucked.
Waited in line for over 2 hrs and then when it was our turn to go on the wagon which was another hour it wasnt scary I feel this attraction is more for toddlers. And the haunted house only had 2 actors in it maybe 3. You get what you pay for and 20 dollars isnt much this day and age I think they should go up on prices and hire more people.
Had fun with my friends. Not scary though. Good for kids I suppose. Overall, underwhelming.I heard it used to be scary. The tour guide on the hayride wAs more entertaining then scary. I understand they want to make some money and cant make it too scary to appeal to a wide audience but maybe they should do 2 or 3 hay rides where they actually really try and scare you. Just a thought.
Line went quicker then expected which was very long ....wasnt very scary and needed a bit more actors went a few years back it was way better then and a bit pricey when theres 4 of you yikes the pricing was the most scariest part of the evening but I did enjoy the wagon narrator
For $26 and a 3 hour wait I was expecting this place to be awesome. But once getting on the hayride it was so packed once the outside seats were taken everyone else was crunched in the middle and couldnt see anything. There were hardly any actors. And half of trip wasnt even set up. Then once coming to the haunted house there was literally one actor in the entire thing. The only thing that this place was good for is bonding time while you sit around in the grass waiting for 3 hours doing nothing. I can think of a much better way to make this 100 times scarier, and could make you guys a ton more money
Ive volunteered here the last 3 years and only just joined the staff this year. I can understand where a lot of these lower reviews are coming from. We are slightly understaffed, and the 3D maze is mostly for the volunteers to haunt, though they prefer to haunt the crowd, not realizing how boring the 3D maze can get. The haunters in the crowd realize that it is a very long wait for some of you so we try are best to keep you entertained while you wait. When you become part of the staff, if youre not a vet, you have to be on the trail and sometimes not where you want to be. I personally understand on the filled up wagons, they get very tight. The trail haunters try our very best to haunt the center of the wagons but when the wagons are that full it is hard, especially when we arent allowed to grab or touch above the knee. So if youre in the middle we cant exactly reach through the other people to get to you. I would recommend coming early enough so there isnt much of a line, the first wagons are usually the best because the actors are still figuring out their footing so you might get some funny falls (mine included, its happened twice now), its less of a wait, and you get out earlier. BUY YOUR TICKETS ONLINE, certain sites are different prices! You will still have to deal with the line, but if more people bought their tickets online instead of at the gate the line would go much quicker! To the ones who havent been yet this year, theres a new theme on the main trail and a few more haunters through out. I personally will let management know to get more haunters in the 3D painted maze (especially since I always thought those were a must) there are 3 new food vendors this year, including a Tom Whals food truck! Ive had a burger off it and its just as great as the restaurant, they just dont have lettuce :( If you have a complaint or even just a simple question ask security or the clown in the orange prison suit, they would be your best bets on getting answers when waiting inside (also Jason, if you can get him to talk). If anyone here has any questions that I could possibly answer. dont hesitate to message me, my Instagram is @_electric_eyes_
Prepaid for tickets and still took 40 minutes to get in and then another 45 for our son to use the zip line. The zip line was designed for two people to go but only one side was open. Felt like I was at Darien Lake. Only saving grace was the hay ride was pretty good. Could be amazing if they worked on their inefficiencies.
This will be my last year going, lines were shorter so I think a lot of people made that same decision after last year. Some of the sets have changed, but its basically been the same for years now. My real compliant is that they overload the wagons without concerns for peoples comfort. I have bad knees and hips and was forced to sit in the middle of the wagon with my legs crossed because they didnt have room on the edge. Not only are my knees killing me but I couldnt sit next to my fiance or see anything that was happening on the edges of the wagon, it also meant that some random dude was sitting behind my friends 13 year old sister making the whole experience uncomfortable for our group and incredibly painful for me. The actors do a great job and the concept is fun, but I shouldnt have to walk away from the wagon limping.
Went there last year and waited for about 4 hours to go on a 10-minute hayride that wouldnt even scare a 6-year old. I almost fell asleep on that ride. Thats how NOT scary it is. Went there again this year hoping it was improved, but it was worse. I think alot of the 5-star reviews in this are fake.
OMG!!! So fun!!! So scary!!! We went last night opening night 2018 we didn’t know what to expect so arrived at 6:45 I suggest going even earlier but there’s a DJ inside, benches to sit on and food and drinks that you can buy. We brought our 8 year old and he was fine but I’m glad we waited till this year😀 A huge shout out to our host/M.C. Remy La Foutaine (?) from Nawlins’ he was fantastic!!! Highly recommend!!!
The experience varies from year to year, but its always a good time. Opening weekend tickets are buy one, get one. Food and drinks are available on site (separate prices, not included with tickets) and there are various entertainments for riders to enjoy while they wait to board(live music, large screen projector horror movies, wandering costumed actors, etc). BE PREPARED FOR LONG LINES!!! You can purchase tickets there, but it will save you a LONG extra wait if you get them ahead of time (BOGO opening weekend tickets can only be bought on site). Dress warm, there are no heated areas.
Sept 29, 2017 - This is the worst entertainment experience I have ever had, PERIOD - Two hour wait for tickets, waited another hour before questioning how much longer?, and were told it would be another hour an half. We left after three hours in forty degree weather without riding the hayride! We as parents have other obligations like babysitters, kids, sleep, etc. Seen how they offer absolutely no refunds, we will eating the cost. So unless you have and want to dedicate 4 1/2 hours of your life for overpriced entertainment, I suggest getting expensive dinner w/ booze and staying warm. Will NEVER entertain thought of ever going back, even if they were to pay me. There should and hopefully will be something done about this on going issue. Carloads and carloads of people were leaving without hayride being fulfilled.
These guys always do a pretty good job each year. The hayride is always fun and they come up with a lot of really cool ideas. However the haunted house at the end is where your really going to be scared. However they give you the opportunity to skip out if you want, which I think is cool for anyone coming with people who only want to ride the hayride
Awful!!! 3 hours of waiting for tickets than another hour wait for the ride, at that point I looked for someone to talk to about wait time and was told it would be a minimum of another hour. Ridiculous. I finally asked to speak with someone about this and shockingly nobody was available. I was made to feel as though I should have expected that. I dont like spending money on a babysitter to stand outside in the cold for hours. Will not give anymore of my time or hard earned money to this organization.
Weve been going here the past 8yrs. The hayride was great as usual but the screamatorium was very disappointing. We were there last Thursday and were one of the last groups to go through. By the time we got to the screamatorium we only saw 3 live characters. Normally there is someone around every twist and turn. Its usually the best and scariest part. Its like they sent most of the employees home by the time we went through which sucks because we paid the full admission price and got half the entertainment. Not sure well be back next year.
Definitely sucked, they have way less actors then they use too. And it was $26, they way uped the price and for that i think it should have gotten better not worse. There were little to none actors inside the haunted house. We had a few kids with us, and it was perfect for them, but we didnt go on a family fun night so....
We were told it would be a 40 minute wait for the hayride. 3 hours later we were finally put on an overfilled wagon. Everyone was just standing around waiting forever with nothing to do and nowhere to sit. Would have left but it was expensive for 4 people and no refunds given. Will not be returning.
We went on a Friday and people who werent even halfway there had waited 2 hours to get in. So we left, then we came back Saturday night and had to pay the $22. Basically, the haunted house was some shoddy plywood and bad actors, a child in a robe following you around and a ton of 12 year old girls screaming. Then we got to the hayride and had to cram on there. The host/announcer told you everything that was happening BEFORE it happened so you expected everything. Then after you get off of the short ride you go into this double wide trailer size house where you can barely walk through and there are maybe three actors in there. Needless to say, not going here again. I am probably the biggest chicken and I wasnt scared once.
This hayride is getting long in the tooth. $75.00 for three people and it seemed like it was all over within 15 minutes. Years ago youd be in lines waiting to get in longer than youd imagine. Last couple years we got right in. It could be attributed to pure luck, but if I was a betting man Id say its likely to the hayride being unchanged for the last ten years (at least). While theyve added some things, the core of the hayride has been the same and in some instances worse.I brought my three younger girls with me (near teenagers) and was surprised to hear our wagon talent make a lot of drug jokes and even dropped the f bomb several times. There are better attractions closer to Rochester for the same if not less money. This place is played out.
Place was pretty cool, BUT... if you don’t have room for everyone to get an outside wagon experience you will be very disappointed you spent that kinda money to get shoved in the middle of the wagon where you can hardly see anything.... Bottom line if you don’t have enough room for everyone on the wagon STOP selling so many per wagon, as you are in control of how many go on.
Shoes being taken off and lost by the Haunted Hayride employees is a lawsuit waiting to happen. They are well aware of the issue. Kids are leaving without shoes, getting cuts, and never recovering expensive shoes. And there is no sense of accountability on behalf of HHGR. This is bad business.
ENjoyable time lines a little long, then went across the street to the winery and stopped by Heintzelmans Marindae Magic Food trailer food was awesome dont eat before you go but stop by the food trailer you will be pleased at the food and then price and then gointo the distillery for some fantastic drinks.

2017-07-31First time at a haunted hayride and it did not disappoint! Lots of activities and vendors. The hayride was a lot of fun and the actors are great. I loved the commentary on the hayride too - our guide was hilarious. Decent selection of food.**Tons of parking available but go early to avoid waiting in line. We waited almost an hour just to get tickets.

2020-09-20This is my favorite halloween attraction!! Yes the lines are long but the wait is definitely worth it! The actors do such a great job scaring you and the scares start while waiting in line and don’t end until you leave the haunted walk through after the hayride!. Definitely going to miss going this year but I’m sure knowing the haunted hayrides of greater Rochester will be back and better then ever after having to cancel the 2020 season!!.

2017-10-01This could have been awesome! But having to wait 2 hours to get a ticket and then 2 more hours to get on the hayride- it really took the fun and suspense out of the experience. I understand that making money is important but I would suggest letting people in line know how long the wait is before they buy the tickets. Or even how long the wait is once the tickets are purchased. It was also so cold and just exhausting standing around waiting. The DJ was fine and it was nice that there was food I guess. It just seemed really poorly organized and as if they weren’t expecting over 2,000 people to be there on opening weekend. At 1am I was just feeling bad for the actors that have been there all night in the cold. Our narrator was awesome, she had so much enthusiasm after already doing so many rides before us. I think if there were more actors and scares going on during more of the ride it would have been better. Also by the time we went they were making the ride shorter to Make them go faster. I guess it was a good try? Maybe cut the line earlier so it can be closed at midnight instead of 2am.

2019-10-28My husband and I went here on the last day it was running (Sunday 10/27) and we had a great time. It felt like the hayride was a bit longer than it used to be, which was nice and the theme/experience was completely changed from previous years. Overall, an excellent experience and we will be back next year!

2017-10-01There was a 3 hour wait just to purchase our tickets and then about an hour and a half wait to get on the hay ride! The staff is very nice and talented and it was fun once we got on but overall it is not worth it. I would take my $26 elsewhere. The time and the money spent for a mediocre hayride/haunted house is simply not worth it. For the demand they have, they really need to hire more people.

2018-10-22Tons of fun! Had lots of laughs and screams. Sister in law is a performer but with even having inside knowledge we still had a great time! Scariest part is when the blast air at you when you least expect it. Bring a blanket for warmth! They also have coco and great food. Highly recommended

2018-10-14Omg! So much fun and I screamed the whole ride! The wait was about half an hour and that was on a Sunday night so not too bad! We will be going back next year and every year thereafter. I dont suggest bringing real small kids, maybe nine and over would be okay. Its pretty scary and they do reach out and touch you!😊

2019-10-14I went on a Sunday (Oct 13th) and it was very crowded. I waited in line for a ticket for a while, then waited for 3+ hours to get on the hayride itself. It was freezing and food was very overpriced and there wasn’t a lot of places to sit besides the grass. The haunted hayride itself, wasn’t that scary, and this is coming from a person who’s easily scared. Some parts were scary, when they would blow loud air or people would jump out of nowhere. I didn’t like how they got in your face and just stayed there. It was shorter than I thought it was going to be, online it said about 25 minutes but it was about 10 to be honest. Then we got to the Screamatorium, which was scary. I was expecting more people in there to scare but there wasn’t a lot. The use of strobe lights throughout was a lot and gave many people a headache. Overall, I didn’t really enjoy my experience at the hayride. Don’t think I’ll return again next year.

2018-05-05Ive been to other haunted hayrides in the past, but this is the best one Ive been to so far. The wait wasnt too long, and they had different things you could pay to do while waiting. The hayride itself took a nice amount of time. It was entertainingly scary--one guy in our group never stopped yelling. They gave us snacks at the end of the ride, and we went through a pretty well thought out haunted house to get back to where we started. Would go again in the future.
