Unfortunately this was a major disappointment. Our first experience involved extremely long wait times for service, eye rolling, and cold food. We’d only ordered appetizers and got cold food, and asked for it to be warmed or just taken off the check. They were not busy, and truth be told we’ve both worked in service industry for years, and this was just not a good experience overall. We had high hopes and won’t be coming back. Oh, also random people on the street come up to you trying to sell things like bags and hats. The drinks were ok, BUT we ONLY came because their Instagram says it was happy hour for margaritas today and the waiter said they weren’t doing that anymore…so the one thing we came for we didn’t get. Anyway, don’t recommend—additionally, staff wore masks around their chins NOT faces. Kind of defeats the purpose guys. Lol…eye roll.I even had to dispute with the waiter about them wanting to charge us for the frozen app. Lol WHAT?? Friday night bummer!!
Very nice place, big well decorated, price are ok, food from 1 to 10 is an 8, can improve in a few things like salads presentations, side orders, sauce options with dishes, etc, waitress girls ok but guys meant, drinks absolutely thumbs up10 , music 10, meats 8, seafood 9, pork 8, lunchs 10, general service 8, cheff 8, waiting time 7.
No bartender on duty during a holiday Monday happy hour. After waiting 30 mins and asking multiple servers, my drink finally mysteriously arrived from the back of the kitchen. One of the worst margaritas of my life, clearly made from mix instead of freshly shaken with real ingredients. Wont be back.
If you are craving authentic Cuban food, this is not the place. They have regular size empanadas which we had as appetizer (not bad, but is not on the menu)My kids ordered two cuban sandwiches with French fries. They are both good eaters, but they ended up not finishing the sandwiches because the pork had no flavor and the cheese was bitter (in their own words). The reason for the two stars is because we ordered churrasco with Yuca fries and the waitress came to the table with French fries. When we questioned her about it, she stated that there wasnt any more yuca fries so she brought potatoes fries without consulting the guest. Since we were not happy about this, she came back five minutes later with the yuca fries. The back and forth was a bit uncomfortable, so we didnt stay long or finished our meals. It was very disappointing.
This is a new restaurant in the Washington heights area. The place is nice. Plenty of seating, bar area in back of the restaurant. Which I think it’s nice... many restaurants have their bars up front and it’s hard to even get in.The food here is delicious. My colleagues ordered shredded steak which I tasted and was well seasoned and tasty. I had the sea bass and was pleasantly surprised on how fresh it was.The lunch specials are only $10 and the portions are substantial.Definitely a place to visit often. If you find review helpful, click like.
Ordered based on reviews. Unfortunately I had to rate this restaurant with 3 stars. I ordered a platter that brings, red meat, tostones and yuca. Platter arrived cold, meat was hard as a rock, stale and most definitely not fresh. In fact, it seems the meat was heated in a microwave or something and thrown into an aluminum platter and sent to my place. Thirty two dollars plus tips put to waste. My poor kids almost lost a tooth eating this food, horrible service, horrible food. Will not be ordering from this restaurant ever again.
New spot, as of 3/7/20. I had the Rabo encendido and ordered a side of platano. Excellent stewed oxtail but all the food was lukewarm. Very odd, so some work needs to be done between the kitchen and the staff. The oxtail was delicious and the restaurant is spacious. You have to ask for a glass for your beer. Ill keep visiting to see how it develops and will adjust my review accordingly. Its nice to have a Cuban spot in the neighborhood.
Went after work for a soup because didn’t want to walk to Malecon. Staff were busy but made sure they informed me I would be taken care of shortly. Staff apologized for the wait and took my order promptly. The place looked clean! And the sancocho I ordered was really good!
Great service and delicious food! They have a combo #1 that you can order which is way better than Malecon’s combo. The combo consists of a whole chicken with rice, beans, and 1-liter soda the portions are large for a family of 4. I ordered side dishes tostones and sweet plantains.UPDATE! This place is not the same I have had bad experiences after ordering for a while.1) I ordered a portion of red beans and the only thing I got was more water and not beans at all.2) I decided to give it another chance and after I ordered I discovered they charge me twice and it took more than 2 weeks to get my money back.3) Last chance I ordered a combo #1 and I found a rock inside the chicken and I almost broke my tooth. This place is getting worse and worse!I DONT RECOMMEND this place!
Awesome new spot in the neighborhood! Like any new restaurant, they’re polishing the details, but I’m confident this will be a go-to spot for many years to come! The steak was delicious and Gabriel was happy to make sure we were happy and everything was right. Getting good service in NYC can be tough, so I’m happy to see such a welcoming staff right down the road. Also, if you’re here during the day, be sure to say hello to Fidel in the attached flower shop.
I was expecting something different..like the last time I came here. I can cook food better than this place. This time it was disappointing. I asked for chicharon de cerdo...and what I got was fried manteca...worse experience ever..only gave it 3 stars because at least the coconut mojitos were ok. The shrimp were in a butter with garlic..thats it...nothing special. For 75 plus tip...I couldve made a more appealing and more flavorful dish. Never again 🤦🏻♀️
As my husband was coming out of sedation at Columbia Presbyterian hospital he muttered something about Cubanos. I quickly popped online to see if there was a place nearby that could fulfill his groggy wish. Behold! Havana Heights, a mere 0.4mi from the hospital doors. I got him a Cubano with fries, and myself the Tostones Rellenos de Camarones (plantain boats with baby shrimps inside) and a mango smoothie. The food was ready quickly and was absolutely fantastic: crispy plantains, perfectly cooked and sauced shrimp, a legit Cubano per my husband. Food doesnt always translate great when its ordered to-go, but everything held up smushed into my backpack and brought into a hospital.More than that, the people were so nice. I came in all lost and flustered and at my wits end after dealing with a hospital all morning... and they were very kind. Thank you.
Horrible serviceThe mangager was very rudeAnd used unprofessional mannersHe not only made my mom promise to never order from them again, but he managed to fail the full refundHe even told me that the next time I order that it will be far worse for mePeople know where you order fromFake managers do fake things…….-4 stars from all of us here @ Presbyterian hospitalGood luck👍
I just walked in and ordered a Cuban sandwich and mashed potatoes to go. No joke, best food Ive had in ages. The sandwich was perfection. And pressed just right. The mashed potatoes were delicious and the gravy/sauce was so flavorfulThe staff is super friendly! A few people helped me and I think everyone who worked there acknowledged me in some way. The manager also talked to me and helped me, he was really personable and genuine. I really felt at home there. Im definitely going back soon. What a great experience!
In my experience with this place, there are people working in this restaurant that are not qualified for the job ( people with an obvious lack of hygiene, lack of diligence, lack of respect, uneducated people that cant even manage to offer a Basic customer service, etc.)I strongly believe that most of the girls working in this place, they go to work High ( probably on Marijuana), is not NORMAL that you call a restaurant to place an order, and the order arrives all messed up! ( 3 times ). Then you have to call these ppl back. Food is Overpriced! The manager is a Mexican guy that doesnt even look or act as a manager.
If youre nor from any American country please do not buy anything from them because of their empty promises. But if you just want to buy because you love the clothing, it is ok fast delivery and quality is ok but bear in mind that After paying the shipping you still have to pay extra money for postage without them telling you
Ive been passing by this restaurant quite often, but today was the first time I found parking and decided to go in for dinner. I decided to eat inside so they politely asked me for my vax proof. No problem. I think it shows that they really care about their customers and want to make sure that everyone is safe. Love the place! Spacious, clean, nice decoration, music volume was fine- I could talk to my sister across the table without raising my voice-. Beer was cold, food was well seasoned, fresh, right temperature and good portion. I had the Ropa Vieja with rice and black beans. My sister had the Salmon Filet with rice and red beans. Delicious! Fernanda was our waitress. Very attentive and courteous. I will definitely go back to this place...
Thank you very much for the awesome service and the fantastic food!! Everyone on the hospital floor is still raving about how they loved the food that you delivered and a lot of them cant wait to visit your restaurant. The Pernil was amazing. Great job!! I look forward to you catering at future events. Scott H
I came to this place to celebrate Mother’s Day with my grandmother and my mother. They were very timely when it came to bringing the alcohol, but besides that, they made us wait almost an hour for an appetizer and then almost two hours for our entrees, so if that’s the way you like to spend your time then this is the perfect place for you 👍🏻 we complained to management and they didn’t care, so we ended up leaving and going somewhere else. God knows how long we would have been there before actually getting what we ordered. They didn’t compensate in any way either; they just shrugged their shoulders anytime we mentioned any of our frustrations to them. Horrible service.
AMAZING cuban food, and AMAZING service. As a fellow Cuban, I approve. 5 stars all around. Highly recommend. Best mofongo and pork I’ve ever had at a cuban restaurant. Staff are very attentive and kind. Zero complaints about this restaurant! I eat here almost every day, actually.
Very disappointed with the quality of food and poor customer service. Ordered via Uber Eats. Very disappointed with penne Vokda which was really just penne mixed in watered-down tomato sauce and some Dominican seasonings. Called the restaurant only to be told that no one ever complained and then I got hung up on. Husband called and naturally the male employee changed his tone but said it was Ubers problem. No apology. Ive ordered there several times prior , always the same platter, always good. One time ordered fried chicken chunks that were burned. Ordered wings this time, also burned. Clearly fried chicken and penne vodka is not their thing. Since Jose hung up on me you can guarantee they lost a customer for sure!
Worst experience ever. Im pretty sure this place has good food but I never tried it . I was on my lunch break from work I sat down for lunch and order pork with rice and beans and a empanada . I only got the empanada . This waitress with a attitude claimed I only ordered that and nothing else .why would I sit for lunch for a empanada . So there was no owner or manger on site to complain to only some guy in street clothes . And he offered me to get my order to go and not free or half off and again I said to him I was on my only lunch break I gotta get back to work. I spent 35 min waiting for nothing and that waitress didnt think to check on me or ask if I want anything else . She just gave me that appetizer and assume thats it .worst place ever
I dont know why I keep doing this to myself. The service is HORRIBLE! They NEVER get my order right and the wait is ALWAYS an hour or more.... for simple dishes! 45min wait for three margaritas. Over an hour for our dinner order. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, comes with swiss. No bun and no fires please. I got a burnt piece of chicken with American cheese and bacon on a bun and a bunch of fries! Im a Spanish Jew. I almost vomited! There is no sense of urgency in customer service and the dining experience. DONT BOTHER. Cook at home. Youll thank me later!
I will never come here again. As a Cuban, I am disappointed. I sent the appetizer back (papa rellenas) because the meat smelled horrible. Service matched the appetizer and of course, the dinner was not tasty. The pernil smelled really bad and my husband said the same about his meat. Never again!
If I could give zero Stars I would. As a first time patron of Havana Heights I placed an order online a day in advance for Mothers Day dinner delivery 4:30p. I noticed as time went by the delivery kept saying it was finishing up and getting ready for my UberEats driver. 7 drivers later no one is able to get my food and the order keeps restarting. I further called the restaurant 10x just to be hung up on or given a different story each time about an hour delay, no manager being on site and then finally the restaurant cancelling my order after waiting over 2hrs on MOTHERS Day! My mom has cancer and cant dine out and the literal disrespect, lack of professionalism, and no customer service no how - is mind blowing. Im disappointed in this as I was treated as a second rate patron and Im sure my order was just being given to those on site. If you cant deliver on the basis requests of customers, dont offer delivery!!! Please for anyone reading, the food might be good (I wouldnt know) but the staff, service, and way they treat people is awful. Here I am left on Mothers Day with no dinner and my poor mother hungry and stressed on the verge of tears. I even sent an email to the restaurant and was just told they cant deliver!?! No - hey apologies well fulfil your order in 30m, it was just, youve been cancelled! Clearly they dont care about repeat business, congratulations on a busy day, just know as a local resident to the neighborhood who dines out often with friends, your establishment will not be on our list to visit or recommend.Do not place an order for delivery with them (UberEats) or others, fair warning, youll just be disappointed. They dont care!
Came here with a friend and we both left pretty satisfied with the food we were served. Ordered the breaded steak with rice and beans and never did I see coming so much food! I was expecting everything on one plate and yet I received two plates; one for the steak and some side salad, and the rice and beans on another plate. The foods taste and amount sure do deserve the price they have. My friend even gave me a piece of the grilled steak he ordered and it left me wanting for more. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because the side salad was dry and there was no dressing with it. Furthermore, the lettuce was served in large amounts and there was a part that tasted like dirt so I had to skip on the lettuce altogether. Other than that, I recommend this place!
Food tasted bland and for a hispanic restaurant thats very very odd and off putting. The pasta I had was water and food coloring basically. I had a taste of the chicharon de Pollo and it was good. So all in all I dont think id waste my money here. Wasnt worth it. If you want good Cuban food, guantalamela on 59 and 8 is good.
Ive ordered from this resturant a few times. Theyre food is tasty and the portions are generous. However, my most recent experience was unpleasant. I ordered delivery and there was a $20 pepper steak dish missing from my bag, so I called the resturant. Their offer was for me to walk/drive over to the resturant and pick up the missing dish myself, because in their point of view, the delivery person probably lost it, so what can they do. I told them I dont have the time that day, but can come by the next day.The next day, I called ahead 45 minutes beforehand, and when I arrived there, the peppersteak wasnt ready. They actually did not even start cooking my dish. The manager or whomever gave me the excuse it was because he did not want the food to spoil (delivery can take up to an hour, so I really dont believe that excuse at all). As I did not have another 20 minutes to waste standing there, I left and took the loss. Everyone was well-mannered, but the experience as a whole was rather dissapointing.
Honestly a really good restaurant. Took my father here for lunch. The food was really good, the staff was helpful, our waitress was really friendly. We really enjoyed it here. Funny because we were looking for places to eat and when I saw this restaurant from afar I felt immediately drawn to check it out. Lol
Horrible Food. I ordered two Cuban Sandwiches to go, and when I took them out at work, both were burnt to crisp, 2 beef empanadas, both also burnt and Very Salty, and two Papas Rellenas with beef, both burnt but flavorless, no spices, salt or anything. My friend and I tasted it all, and threw it in the trash. A waste of $ 32.00. I had to take Tums, as it gave me an upset stomach. Ill Never go there again! (12/19/2020)
I ordered on 8/16/2020 and the food was terrible. I spent $75.11 to deal with the nastiest food in life. The chicken was dried up quarter legs when I ordered a whole chicken. The fried pork was $26 dollars and I received less than a half a pan and all fat. The black beans was mostly water and no beans. The vegetables tasted old and had a funny taste which I threw it away.
Its alright. Staff is alittle rude and they dont listen. The bread when you say well toasted they burn it and if you dont say anything its only put for a few minutes and cheese doesnt fully melt. Coffee is always burning hot and if you ask them to correct it its a problem.
What a wonderful time we had @ your place last night while having dinner with two of our cousins Johanna and Jose. From the moment I called to make the reservations it just felt welcoming. From the whole service as we walked in,to the appetizers and main course we simply couldnt ask for a better night out with family. We will definitely visit you again.
Very well may have been the best chorizo I’ve ever had... and I try chorizo everywhere. The atmosphere was even better creating a very traditional Cuban ambiance with freehand art on the walls and dim lighting at night time (when I went). I can’t wait to go back with friends and family. Exquisite food, service, and it doesn’t get better than that. MUST TRY ASAP!
Been here twice. The menu is frustrating to understand. I ordered the Havana Sandwich, which is supposed to come with chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, and swiss cheese. My sandwich came only with chicken breast...Apparently, all the toppings are extra!!The customer service needs to improve.. I hope this restaurant doesnt end up like its competitors with horrible customer service...Theres a lot of work thats needs to be done, I will definitely be back in a couple of months.
Super Tasty Food! Great service! Please keep in mind its a new buisness. As it grows more improvements will come along if any is needed. A great addition to our community as we do have many dominican restaurants, a cuban restaurant is just as AMAZING!I have yet to try the other dishes but I ordered the Chicken Fajita. They also carry a great selectiom of beverages and alcoholic drinks. Great place for happy hour as well! The space is beautifully decorated with real plants and flowers. Great seating as well. Definitely a must to try in this area!
Disappointed last time ordered for delivery they sent me raw onions not even cooked and when I go to the restaurant the waitress are rude they don’t even check on you to see how is the service unless you call for them and even when you get their attention they take forever to come!! They have the nerve to say that they even have cameras in the bathroom!!!!! Wow what an invasion of privacy!!!!!! I would suggest people go somewhere else it definitely not worth it !!!! Zero stars if I would!!!!
This place has great atmosphere with room for improvement.... we waited over 10 mins for our food to be ready, which gets discouraging. The food tasted fine with the exception of the black bean being super salty which ruins the meal. Hope they improve soon so that i can give it another shot.
My reason to give 3 stars due to te service apart of that, everything was ok, food amazing 10 , drinks 9, grill 10, soups 9, salads 5, place 10, area 10, ac 10, ambiance 9, chef 10, again the only issue the waitress, dont understand why the owner or supervisor dont check on their workers and also check on costumers about the service.
Just tried happy hour...Appetizers and drinks ordered:White Sandria - strong but not memorable... lacked taste yet gave a buzz... 😏Guacamole with plantain chips - good but wished it gave option to make spicy. 🤷🏻♀️Empanadas - let’s say 7 out of 10. Sauce was slamming, full of meat, but missing seasoning.Chicharrón - lacked seasoning...😒Daiana was our waitress... she really paid attention to our group, wish food matched service.
I went today for the first, and most likely the last. I had very high expectations which they fell short to meet. To start, daiana, our server, never brought the toasted bread that they serve while you wait for your food. Then the beers were not cold. My partner had to put his beer inside the glass of water he was drinking, in order to make it cold. I ordered mofongo with chicharrones, but the chicharrones had NO flavor at all. They completely failed to season that meat. And last, but not least, my partner ordered chivo but it wasnt properly cooked. Sorry, but I was very disappointed.
This was a take away order . The Morro was excellent and was the peril. Ropa vieja was also very good.. the mofongo was dry and bland. The chicken with the mofongo was excellent . The bad they have lunch portions for 10 dollars we were not given that menu. If you order in the front make sure to ask for lunch menu. We we charged for an avocado salad and didnt receive it.. the place needs organization. It was like a band without a conducter. Potential for 5 star is there.
I ordered the lunch special which was under the 10.00 menu, Toast pork with rice and beans. First off its no 10 its really 13. False advertising. The chicken is the only food for 10.00, secondly it was such a small amount of pork, they should be ashamed of themselves. It was all rice with a small amount of port on a corner of the top . Never again!
So i placed my first order with these guys the other nite. First off it took nearly an hour to get my food. As for the food it was a mixed bag. While the Cuban Sandwich was delicious, the chicharron de pollo was on the terrible side. Its SUPPOSE to be CRISPY and they were more like boneless chicken nuggets with an underwhelming flavor. The UPSIDE the portions are generous BUT had to throw out the leftovers of those chicken nuggets LoL as i had NO desire to eat anymore...Yikes...well too bad. wanted to like this place but might just get their Cubanos whenever i get the craving for a few of those sandwiches...cheers.
Beautifully decorated, spacious and welcomed addition to the neighborhood. Papa rellena and chorizo appetizer were both delicious and quite sizeable! We shared the chofan mixto which was perfectly seasoned and big enough for two of us. Quick and courteous service. My only gripe is that this is really a dominican restaurant costumed as a Cuban restaurant. A couple of Cuban dishes sprinkle this very very Dominican menu. Basically Malecón with the addition of ropa vieja. They didn’t have Media noche bread which to a Cuban like me is sacrilegious. I will def give it another chance and hopefully the mojitos will be more natural tasting. Some sort of flavored syrup gave it a cough syrup aftertaste. Great music!
Ordered a Whole chicken, rice and beans and a lunch special consisting of Ropa Vieja and tostones. Delivery came relatively quick (20-30min) Chicken came very cold, And the ropa vieja was extremely salty. Ima give them another try and benefit of the doubt because they just opened up, but a little bit disappointed..
The food was amazing and staff was amazing also. Lucy at the bar made me her special tequila drink. The sampler with the shrimp, steak, porkchops and chicken was to die for. I would strongly recommend Havanna Heights to your bucket list. Thank you Havanna Heights for a special occasion we experienced.

2022-04-25Came here before attending a concert at United Palace. The food was exceptional, drinks strong and the service delightful. One of my sides was not available so the waitress offered to let us sample what was available before substituting. Will definitely be coming back.

2021-11-11Havana is one of my go to spots in my neighborhood for delicious food & drinks. I usually order the Ropa Vieja with a side of tostones, rice & beans. It hits the spot every time. Paired with a Moscow mule from the bar and it’s a perfect combination. The drinks are strong in my opinion so you get your moneys worth. The portion sizes are very generous and you can easily have left overs to go for later. When I go out with friends, we order a bit of everything and share across the table family style.I love the service and vibe of this restaurant. There is always good music playing and the staff are friendly. The restaurant is a decent size and can accommodate large parties either indoors or outdoors. Also, Havana is great at catering for events. I have ordered catering for several birthday dinners and my guests have always had good things to say about the Chicharron De Pollo platters & Tour of Havana. So good!Try it out for yourself and enjoy !

2021-10-05If I could give it 6 stars I would. My family has lived the heights for over 60 years. We came to visit my 95 year old Grandma and treat her to a special birthday dinner. The staff knocked it out of the park. The food was excellent, am iance was great, hospitality was second to none. Jose the manager called out my grandmother from decades ago when he was a kid. He made her feel like a queen and made the evening special. It was a challenge to get her out of the apartment and to walk just a few blocks but it was well worth it. The steak is to die for and so is the flan. The street dining looks like a nice option too (another day). We will be back again for sure !!!!

2022-06-20Nah. Heard good things, totally not our experience. I should have read these reviews before coming. “Hit and Miss” is correct. Tonight was a big swing and a miss. Pernil: under seasoned and dry. Ropa vieja: flavor was ok, but it was tough (undercooked) and it looked like shredding the meat was an after thought. Beans: forgot the seasoning and the salt. According to my daughter, “the white rice has more seasoning than the beans”. Yup, she’s right. On the side that was passable was the mojito, the guac, the chicharrones de pollo, and the maduros (hard to mess those up). The tostones were “ok”. The service? I felt like our mere presence bothered her. Eeesh. “Una cara bien pes’a”. As a human being, I just hope she’s ok. We stayed pretty thirsty too until she brought us a pitcher of water. The food came after waiting an hour for it. Bonus 1/2 point: the wooden serving dish for my Taste of Havana combo was cute.

2022-06-26The wait for takeout is absolutely atrocious for 3pm on a Sunday. It wasnt even crowded indoors. While we were on the take out line, 3 people who arrived after us had their orders taken and recieved their orders first. We waited 50 minutes before we finally got it. Our order was Chicharon de pollo con hueso y arroz blanco y habichulea negra y maduros. The food was good but what really grossed me out was a bitten Maduro in our tray. Thats really unprofessional. Will not be coming back.

2022-03-18The drinks are strong and good, especially the mojitos which are pretty good. But the food can be hit or miss. Sometimes is too salty as in over seasoned. Other times is great. The seafood paella is not it tho. The seafood doesnt taste fresh and its overcooked, so it gets gummy and tough. Otherwise its a okay spot to grab a quick bite. But definitely nothing spectacular. The decor is nice!!

2021-07-27Being of Cuban decent and from south Florida you long for some good Cuban food from time to time and I just found my spot. I had the tour of Havana which is enough food for several people. The ropa vieja was almost as good as grandmas and the lechón was on point. Will be back next time I need my Cuban food fix.
