Once you enter the main dining hall, the place is a buzzing place. Its dark interiors and tables has taken some cues from your traditional steak house, but with a touch of mid century furnishings.Let’s start out with the food. It was top notch. The porter house was season and seared perfectly. The potted beef and bacon, looked like a heart attack about to happen because of the fat build up, but once it all came together it was a delicious dish. The size of the sides looked like it serves only one but if you get a few of them it can definitely be shared. We would highly recommend the decadent peanut butter louis for dessert. Our service was ok, it’s not your old school steakhouse lifer waiters, but the timing of the food was efficient and they checked our table regularly. The only really down point of the night was our cocktails. There was either too much or too little of the ingredients.Overall food was good, service was fast and it didn’t feel like they were forcing you to spend more than you wanted.
Finally went for dinner at Hawksmoor last night, delicious food, great service and a wonderful experience. I’m a huge fan of Hawksmoor from London, particularly the Covent Garden and Piccadilly branches so I had been anticipating the opening of Hawksmoor NYC for a long time since I’ve not been able to go back to London for a couple of years. Glad it’s finally here and well worth the wait. Will definitely be returning!FYI save space for dessert, absolute MUST order is the sticky toffee pudding!!
Food- 9.45/10Service- 8.5/10Atmosphere- 7/10 (very loud music, conversation almost impossible at table of 3)Overall great experience. Flavor of dry aged steaks cooked on charcoal was amazing. All the sides were great, dessert might be the hidden jewel. Sticky toffee pudding might rank in top 2 desserts I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. This was round one. I will be back!
Our overall experience at Hawksmoor was great, we absolutely loved the design of the dining room, and enjoyed our short time at the bar. The staff was beyond attentive, and kind, always making sure we were comfortable and taken care of, and we were.We ordered a 34oz porterhouse, sliced, that was aged and cooked to perfection. We are still talking about how good it was. However, we are also still talking about how poor the rest of the dishes were. We started with the pork belly and the beet salad, resulting in mixed reviews from us. The sides were also recommended by staff, and they were VERY disappointing: beef fat fries that sadly lacked anything special, and brussels sprouts that were entirely underwhelming. The Grand Rocher dessert was tasty, especially for self-confessed Ferrero Rocher fanatics. But overall, it was not enough to inspire us to return. In fact, we have canceled a reservation for this weekend; we were hosting out-of-towners, who own restaurants in different cities, and now we’re back to square one and searching for a new place for dinner. We chose this place to have our anniversary dinner, and unfortunately, it was a disappointment not only for the poor sides, but also in the sense that, for previous big-occasion dinners at other restaurants with similar (and even lower) price points, we were treated much better when it came to complimentary menu items and making us feel special.
Food, service, portions, and atmosphere were phenomenal! Exceeded all expectations. Saw the YouTube video and was definitely interested. The experience was amazong across the board! Dinner for 2 was impeccable.Superb restaurant, cocktail bar, and one of the best new steakhouses in town. Charcoal grilled steak is definitely unique!Drinks were refreshing and unique. Cocktails were fantast in flavor. Forgot what it was but you cant go wrong especially with the cocktail expert ready to explain every drink on the menu.We had the rump tartar and this was probably the best tartar Ive had any where. The choice of the cut is meaty and beefy. But tender with nice mouth feel. The grated Parmigiano and raw.egg yolk gave the dish a very luxurious texture. But also surprisingly light. The oysters with bone marrow was equally tasty. Fresh oysters baked under a layer of bone marrow. Great combo that you didnt know you needed. The lamb was okay. This was a bit tough. Definitely not the best appetizer here. It was okay at best.We had a 34oz ribsteak to share. Waitress promoted informed us that the bone is about 10-15% of the weight. This was definitely appreciated. This makes 15 Oz per person. Steak was tender, flavorful, and super excellent from the charcoal grill. Thick, beefy, and tender. This was EXCELLENT. One of the best streaks weve had in town i woukd say.We had the beef fat fries, lemon garlic spinach, and the Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese were super good. Not sure what he blend was, but this was a 5 cheese blend. Super cheesy. Super creamy. The fries were crunch on the outside and soft in the inside.Highly recommend the desserts! These were amazing to behold and just as excellent in flavor. We had the Meyers Lemon Bomb and the Peanut Butter Louie. Peabut butter was super decadent like a really chocolaty peanutty Reeses and it vame with sorbet which definitely cut the richness a bit. The Meyers lemon bomb was beautiful to behold and just as excellent in the explosion of fresh lemon flavor! The entire meal was meticulously attended to by everyone from drinks, to clearing the table, to the waitress. It was great service from the the entrance all the way through til the end of the meal. The food were excellent. The charcoal steak was definitely the highlight and the desserts were definitely a close second. And cocktails are all worth your time.
Well, this was an eye-opener. Who knew that the simple (but by no means easily achievable) addition of charcoal to cooking steak would achieve such stunningly flavorful results! We ordered a 38oz, bone-in ribchop (ribeye this side of the Atlantic) and it was cooked perfectly medium rare, with a really strong dry aged undercurrent brown which belied the fact that this chop was only aged 7-10 days. Pretty mind blowing. Sides and appetizers weren’t completely mind blowing but did the job admirably. The sour cherry negroni was a nice twist on a classic and the dessert almost stole the show. One of my new favorite steakhouses in the city and its a beautiful room, come here with some carnivore friends and you will have a great time almost guaranteed. Come early, the steaks sell out pretty fast. Also have to give a shoutout to the staff, especially our server and the chef who went out of their way to cut another ribchop from the rack for us just because we ordered one that ended up being sold to another table and it was the last one. True hospitality, thanks!
The steak is so so good here. We had a bottle of red to share between us girls, the sommelier recommended something fruity and rather tart blend. Get here early, bc the cuts run out very fast. By the time we left, only much larger oz sizes remained. Think it’s good for larger groups later in the night. Good place to have celebration. The bone marrow oysters are really good to start. We got the 10 oz ribeye and 28 oz chateaubriand to share. Honestly think it’s cooked more medium than medium rare for ribeye but delicious nonetheless. The bearnaise sauce was great, we also got the bone marrow gravy. They do add a lot of salt to the meat, so prepare to drink lots of water. Sides were ok nothing amazing, we got beef fat fries and creamed spinach.Would def come back to try the other cuts like porterhouse for example. Did not care for the desserts. We got sticky toffee pudding and peanut butter Louis but overall strange; pudding too salty and Louis wayyyy too sweet. Would skip dessert actually and just eat more steak.
The restaurant is stunning (really cavernous with a 30-ft vaulted ceiling). The staff was wonderful and the food was good but it was nowhere near the best steak Ive ever had. Friends have since told me that they really prefer the vibe in the bar area which is more intimate. There were 4 of us and we worked our way thru a good portion of the menu from oysters to charcoal-roasted scallops to caesar salad, steak (both the porterhouse and the filet with au poivre sauce), and the halibut. The desserts were my favorites especially the peanut butter louise.
Service- very good. Kind staffs. The food - Appetizers are great. Oysters are delicious. Meat-wise, the worst steak I’ve tried in nyc. We were seated at 6:30, our steak arrived at 8:15.The plate was cold, so was the meat. We ordered a 14oz ribeye, medium. Quite tough texture. Not as savory you’d expect from medium ribeye.Creamed spinach was bombarded with too much ginger. Fries were salty.Cocktails are great, wine selection is meh. Nothing really special. We are not coming back.
An unbelievably positive experience. This place is truly special and quickly jumped to the top of my personal list of favorite meals of all time and possibly the best steak I’ve ever had. There’s so much to say and so little time:Drinks- I had the Hawksmoor Calling and Full Fat Old-Fashioned. Both were incredible and unique, with the Calling being a super smooth blend and the Full-Fat having an amazing buttery aftertaste.Appetizers- we had the charcoal-roasted scallops, steak tartare, and roasted bone marrow. All were absolutely wonderful, but our favorite had to be the tartare. It was created with such care and with a really balanced profile of flavor between all of the ingredients. It was a real treat. Second-place were the scallops; they didn’t last long on the plate. I only wished there were a few more of them! For dinner I had an uncut 14oz Rib-Eye. Between their unique charcoal grill and the dry age process, this thing was divine and the most perfectly prepared steak I could ask for. There was a wonderful charred aftertaste that wasn’t overwhelming, and any extra fat was dry aged and matured to the point of breaking down just enough to combine with the rest of the protein in the cut. So finally & most importantly, this creates a situation where you can eat every single bit of the cut while also noticing some uniformity and some variation as you go; versus having to cut out cartilage or hard fat with any other inferior steak.I finished off with a desert; the Peanut Butter Louis, which was like a perfected Snickers Bar. There was a sea-salt quality in the taste that when combined with the chocolate and peanut butter was balanced carefully between umami and overwhelming. Really delicately crafted, but so good if you enjoy salty flavors. Finally, I have to mention one other thing: the professionalism and passion. The love and respect for the work going on here was palpable. I spent a lot of time during dinner watching the chefs, wait staff, bartenders, and managers, and when you see passion in every movement, you know you’re in a truly special place. Thank you so much for the opportunity and experience during our visit. I had been waiting a while to try it and will be honored and excited to come back!
The Hawksmoor exceeded expectations. Im not a steak person but my partner is and we wanted to go somewhere to celebrate the life of our catHermione who had passed away one year ago. When we made the reservation we put that down as the reason and Im so glad we did. Thegeneral manager and several of the staff came by to acknowledge our occasion and talk to us about our cat. Maybe that sounds silly to you, butit meant the world to us. When they brought our dessert we ordered, it had Long live Hermione written in chocolate on the plate and it wassuch a nice touch. The entire staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful our entire visit. We ended up spending over three hours there as we thoroughly enjoyedourselves with the amazing cocktails, wines, and bubblies we drank. The food was phenomenal, too! We got the potted beef and bacon and sourdough bread with cultured butter to start and were already blown away from just those! For dinner, we got the roasted heritage chicken which was utterly astounding and full of flavor. My partner got the filet steak and we also got many sides to share. Definitely get some sides to share for the table; you won’t be sorry! Also make sure to save room for dessert. The tributes are to die for and the sticky toffee sundae was a dream— all homemade by the restaurant.I can’t say enough good things about our visit to Hawksmoor. We’ll be returning and you should certainly pay them a visit if you want good food, good drinks, and a divine experience.
The large steaks are all on a blackboard to show stock. The chateaubriand was all gone when we arrived but fortunately was refreshed while we were having cocktails and our party was able to secure the only 40 Oz Chateaubriand available for the remainder of the night. The steak was melt in your mouth delicious and the char was brilliant and flavorful. It was a serendipitous and delicious occasion. Every appetizer and side was also exquisitely crafted, special consideration to the scallops. Worth every penny, and I must also call out the reasonable 35 dollar corkage fee for those inclined to bring their own wine. The gorgeous desserts (photo attached) were as good as they looked
Lot of hype with these reviews but afraid to say that Hawksmoor didn’t deliver. Ambiance very cool. Servers were friendly and had a vibe. Cocktails awesome but very small and felt like there was more ice than drink. Service was slow though, waited 30 -40 mins between apps and steak which came cold. We sent it back and came cold again - very disappointing. Managers were apologetic and understanding, mentioned it was because of the air conditioning (I don’t think that makes any sense whatsoever). Overall it was expensive for a meal that didn’t impress us over other NYC steakhouses which has far superior tasting food and steaks.
The food was fantastic. The restaurant itself was beautifully done. I was excited to visit for the first time. I was disappointed however in the waitstaff. Our waiter in particular made us feel uncomfortable because we opted not to order steak..? It was awkward. We are light eaters in general (we are models), but we did order plenty of food (fish, oysters, scallops, salad, sides, lots of drinks). Not sure I would come again for this reason. It’s disappointing.
We had such a great experience!!! We arrived a little early and were able to sit in the bar and have a drink until our table was ready. The cocktail menu was extensive and all of the drinks we tried were well balanced and delicious. The food was amazing! We shared a bone in rib chop and it was cooked perfectly to order. We paired with with the peppercorn sauce and bernaise which were both so tasty. The beef fat fries were super crunchy and the right amount of salty. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy. The Caesar salad was really good, covered in cheese and anchovies. We also tried the maple custard and lemon meringue desserts. The custard was rich but paired will with the salty nut crumble on top. The lemon dessert was my favorite. It has a lemon sorbet, lemon cream, candied lemon and lemon meringue. It sounds like too much lemon but it wasnt. Perfect mix of sweet and sour. The ambiance is lovely, not too stuffy. The service was also superb. Special shout out to our waiter Nangwaya. He was very personable and gave great recommendations. One of the best meals weve had in NYC!
Ive been to Hawksmoor twice now and have two more reservations on the books. Its a charming beautifully appointed restaurant serving exactly what youd expect - top quality steaks. Management is very interested in customer feedback which is a plus. The staff is very friendly and I love the old fashioned feeling of chalk boards with sizes of the steaks available. I definitely suggest you take a trip here - and dont forget to leave room for desert which is absolutely delicious (The sticky toffee pudding in particular...wow).PS - Ask about the beef nuggets!

2022-05-19There was nothing really wrong with the meal but there was nothing that was exceptional that made me say wow, its so good and I cant wait to come back. The service was great... The waiter was knowledgeable, explained the cuts and seasoning perfectly. He even gave us a nice history of the restaurant and the building where the NY branch is.The appetizers and sides are single portions and not appropriate to share. Maybe the scallops, oyster and salad.. But the pork belly, fries, creamed Spinach, asparagus... All on the smaller side. Definitely order enough if you have a large party and plan to share. The prices are comparable to premium steak houses but I found the grass fed meat chewy and sinewy (a little). The marbling is not what Im accustomed to in a nice slab of rib eye. The seasoning and flavors are spot on but the chewiness of our steaks is just not the same as say Porterhouse Grill or Keens. I really wanted to love the place... But... The meat just didnt connect with my palate.Maybe to others itll be better.... Do give Hawksmoor a try and make your own judgment.

2022-06-29Had a very good time with friends here. The oysters are ultra fresh. The meats are good but I thought a bit too overcooked. I ordered my ribeye as medium (which is what they recommend) but thought it was too well done. The creamy spinach side is very good as well as the fries cooked on beef fat. Special nod to the ambience. Very nice place they have here. Well restored, and decorated. All is in very good taste so to invite a special someone to a special occasion. Price is high though $$$$

2022-06-10We had a very enjoyable experience at Hawksmoor NYC with our family. The drinks, wine, and service was incredible. We had the Ribeye and Porterhouse with creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, asparagus, carrots, and fries, which were extraordinary. Lobster was also fantastic. We had every dessert on the menu and there are no words to describe how delicious they were-- we LOVED the dining experience and would highly recommend it.

2022-05-01Good vibe and good tasted great. Dry aged porterhouse 34oz had a great taste and cooked perfect. They have a set number of oz cuts, so we couldnt get anything under 34oz since they were out. Spinach side was simple and good, Drinks were good. Brought out a small chocolate sampler for my birthday. Only complaint was that service towards the end when we were done and wanting to pay was really slow, but our server was running around and seems more like a slightly short staffed situation more than anything else.

2022-01-24Now THIS is a steak dinner. Beautifully decorated space, meticulously executed cocktails, and a reasonably-priced (you know this isnt a cheap meal if youre coming to dine here) set of steaks. Love the chalkboard showing which large cuts are still available. Desserts are far from an afterthought - definitely save room.

2021-12-04Very delicious steak- definitely a place you want to go with 4 people or more. we got the 40 oz porterhouse to share, and it was cooked perfectly. the seafood was shockingly good. we LOVED the scallops- it may have been the best dish we had there. the sides I will say were a little disappointing. I didnt like the Brussels (soggy, not crispy), and the beef fat fries didnt have the wow factor. however, the steak made up for it. the atmosphere is unmatched- the dining room is stunning and brings you to a different era in time. the cocktails were also very good- i got the full fat old fashioned and it was amazing.

2022-01-02Hawksmoor NYC absolutely blew me away! The service was incredibly friendly, the dining room is stunning, and food quality is *chef’s kiss*. Highly recommend the bone marrow charcoal roasted oysters, porterhouse steak to share, as well as any single one of their thoughtfully crafted and delicious cocktails. The food and drinks came out super quickly even on a busy Friday night, but i’d still happily stay here for hours.Hands down the best dinner experience i had in 2021, and will definitely be back regularly this next year!

2022-05-07First off, the steak was amazing. We got the 34 ounce chop and it was fantastic. Secondly, the service and main dining area was awesome. We also got a lot of sides/appetizers including fries, mash potatoes, steak tartar, Caesar salad and oysters. We also had a sommelier recommend us some wine and it was great!I definitely recommend this place for a friend event or an expensive date.l!

2022-06-18The first US location of the UK chain - they have 10 of these across the pond. It’s just okay. Feel free to skip it. The sticky toffee pudding is good and the scotch bonnet oysters are of-note, but the only real reason to go is to see the beautiful ceiling in the newly renovated, historical interior of the main dining room. One can tell they want the service to be hip, but it all feels corporate, perfunctory and totally avoidable. This restaurant lacks a soul.

2022-02-11Great ambiance , Cocktails, Hospitality, Apps and Entrees - A 5-star experience from start to finish! I was there Thursday evening and it was busy to say the least! It is so refreshing to see a place thriving even as we come out of the pandemic in NYC and it makes sense based on my experience! A big shoutout to Ana the manager, who really elevated our experience!PS. Do yourself a favor and grab a drink at the bar and order the Reuben Nuggets which are only on the bar menu! I had two orders before dinner because they were that good!Keep up the great work Hawksmoor!
