So, Ive lived in the complex for almost two years. I had my confrontation with one of the managers named Stacy Nolan who does wharever she feel like doing. Apparently, she has the power to do it. Kim whos the other lady that handles the place when the manager (Stacy)is not there; is basically, NO HELP. She does whatever shes being told by Stacy.Due to the confrontation with Stacy, management(her) stuck a letter in my apartments door three weeks outdated, stating that it was an intend to not renew my lease. When I sent an e-mail asking why the letter was outdated to both Kim and Stacy no one answered the e-mail. They also charge you a late fee of $300 more on top of the rent if the payment is late or it didnt process on time.Overall, a nightmare to live in this complex. During the summer time the central A/C broke and it took them two days to just arrived to the apartment when there policy is 24 hours. Took the inhouse tech another two days to fix it because he didnt know what was wrong with it. Those days were extremely hot and my baby boy was a couple of months old. The apartment was HELL!!!!! At the end of every job, they send out an e-mail to rate the job, that time I didnt received anything; they knew they did wrong. When is to get the money for rent; theyre on top of you placing letters in the apartments door; threatening that I have to surrender up of said premises to the landlord, in default of which the Landlord will commence summary proceedings under the Statute to recover the possession thereof.Like I worte, save yourself some money and the headaches that youre going to have if you move to Hawthorne Court LLC.If I could get a negative rating Ill give it -100
My girlfriend and I have been living here since January and really have not had too many complaints. When I needed the water pressure fixed in my kitchen they were in site within a 24 he period and cleaned up after themselves. I wouldnt even of known they came if it were not for my sink operating properly. The office has been more than accomodating with any issues we experience. I love it here.
The following review is based on my personal experiences and is my opinion which I developed over the course of my 12 month stay at Hawthorne Court.Unless the government pays your rent, this place is not for you. Its over priced for the already over priced Long Island standards. Sure the apartments themselves are pretty nice, but thats likely because the person who lived there before you absolutely destroyed the place and it had to be completely redone. I definitely had drug dealers for neighbors and there the smell of marijuana was baked into the halls of my building. I reported the drug dealing neighbors to the management and was informed that they would not take any action and it was my responsibility to call the police enough times that they could be evicted. Considering I had just moved in and my car had already been keyed in the parking lot (about a two foot long gouge right across my hood which went down to the metal and had to be repaired to prevent rust), I decided not to paint a target on my back and simply kept a low profile for my own good. Multiple times during the summer there were very loud and sometimes violent fights on the quad in front of my apartment. Loud bass-y music was a constant as well. Additionally, it was also not uncommon to hear gunfire in the distance. The place is in a generally bad area. Anytime I told my coworkers that I lived in Central Islip, they were adamant that I should not be living there. I feel bad for the ladies the work in the office because they have to deal with the residents and with the infamous manager Janet. The dealings of this place are generally shady; all they care about is money and will do what they can to get more from you. The area is dangerous. The bad outweighs the good. Look elsewhere.
Lived here for a year, and was definitely a bad experience overall. The rent is skyhigh(starts from 1800$ a month) but the apartments themselves lack any amenities, you will need your own lights and fans, ACs generally dont work. Walls and doors are made from pieceboards and are paper thin. The apartment complex in itself is extremely shady and not recommended for raising a family. While we stayed there were multiple incidents requiring police intervention.Maintainence staff is definitely good especially when it snows. The real big problem is the management, they are extremely rude and disrespectful. I think one reason for that is they have too many shady people to deal with and try to keep conversations at minimum, the issue here is the lack of transparency and a mentality to play around with words to get money from the tenant. Theres no concept of apartment beautification here and it depends on the street smartness of the management to get money from the tenant to do work on the apartments after he leaves. So if you still do land up here for whatever unfortunate reasons, be sure to examine the whole apartment and take photos of kitchen countertops, bathroom sinks in the first week and hand it over to the leasing office. Commuting options is generally good, but overall given the skyhigh prices and the bad locality and management, I would look around in lake ronkonkoma, Holbrook, Lake groove areas, for more accessibility, better management and better areas on the whole. I have also heard from my friends that the management is very good in heatherwood apartment complexes. Also I know its not professional, but I need to mention that while dealing with Lauren whos an asst manager in the leasing office, be very very weary, she is extremely disrespectful and will generally hold back a lot of information.
I have lived here for a few years now. I will admit, that they are a little over priced. But then what isnt in NY and especially Long Island. I have had no complaints about the staff or my apartment. Maybe thats because we always pay the rent on time or before its due. So I have not had to have many dealings with the leasing dept. And anytime that something needed to be fix (which was very rare if at all) it was dealt with that day or the next day the latest. Me and my fiancé have been blessed to have quiet and what seems to be decent neighbors (we are so glad about that). We never seen any type of bugs in our apt. expect for your occasional spider and fly that enter in the summer seasons. But we are very clean people also. I know everyones experience here will be different. Im just here to say we have never and an issue. here. But we will be moving to buy a townhouse soon.
Nice place to live until the new management took over Stacey Nolan is a total scam artist who loves to rip ppl off. Once your on to her ways she will not renew your lease so that you can move before she gets caught. She needs to be in jail for the things she does. Walls are thin, paint is cheap, if you live on the first floor you can hear everything that the upstairs tenant is doing. Kids from other places smoke weed in the hallways, apartments are overly priced
Absolutely disgusting!! Hawthorne court will be recieving a lawsuit from me very soon. I was moving out. I moved some things & due to certain circumstances I couldn’t do it in one day. When I went back for my things they completely cleared my apartment out. I had so much in there including my furniture, important paper work .. literally everything you can think of. I called and Joseph (property manager) had the nerve to tell me, my stuff is probably at some dumpster when I asked. Dishwasher broke the first day, sink always clogged, they take off & put on hot water as they feel, lights always out in the hallway, fob keys to enter building will stop working, washers and dryers always out, kids always smoking weed in the hallways....DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PLACE!!!! Everyone in the office is fake and only want your money.
Leasing Manager Staci is the worst manager i have ever seen. Previous staff was good though. Never answers to the questions from the tenants in a proper manner. I havent seen such kind of a behavior from any leasing manager. Hope the management would take care of this.
My experience at Hawthorne Court Apt. has always been awesome. No complaints about the apartment or complex or staff. However, I credit my satisfaction to the staff, specifically to Stacy and Kim. They always offer and provide excellent customer service. Therefore, I am proud to call Hawthorne Court my home mainly due to their proactiveness and excellent customer service. **Proud renter** SJ
I just wanted to aknowledge leasing specailist Marissa Johnson. I have a client who was looking for A apartment that accepted her section8. Marissa was very professional and very prompt with responding to my clients concerns. Marissa was so knowledgable about section 8 and assisted us every step of the way! Im so thankful for Marissa and I hope shes praised for all her hard work during these tough times. Thank again Marissa my client is so happy thanks to you!
OK listen to me closely.... DO NOT move here this place is very nasty the pictures that they post online is of a few condos that they have not of the apartments. those seem to be the only nice apartments in the complex!!!! first off make sure you see what building your apartment is in before you move in. i went to see an apartment and the apartment i was given was nothing like what i seen. the building it was in smelled really bad the front door was rusted and the hallway was very dark. in each building there is only one washer and one dryer which is a big inconvenience. how can you only have one washer and dryer in each building? these people charge you for everything including water.. the complex is set up so bad making it extremely hard to move things in. the parking lot is behind the buildings so if you are moving in good luck. you have to walk so far from the parking lot to your building its ridiculous. while i was in the leasing office i seen so many people who looked like they were on drugs i couldnt believe it. i later found out they allow section 8 people to rent apartments. i have nothing against section 8 but im just saying. the apartment i was given was so small i had to go outside to change my mind. the A/C sounded like it was gonna blow out in any second. The dishwasher is the size of a microwave. i was so disgusted the day i was suppose to move in that i decided not to rent. luckily i found another apartment in middleisland and i was able to move in by the first. i took the few things i moved in out of the apartment and returned their keys. i would never recommend anyone to move in this place. i saw people outside during the day smoking weed. i also seen a homeless looking man sitting on the grass he looked like he was drunk. this place is over priced and they also make you purchase renters insurance. where i am living now i have brand new appliances. stainless steel dish washer and fridge. my apartment is clean no bugs and no smells. and im paying way less than that overpriced nasty place. Good luck if you decide to move into Hawthrone Court.
I have to agree with Miss Higgens, the staff is NASTY, horrible and lazy. The maintenance guys a good guys but the people in the office especially JANET is a nasty horrible human being and will suck the life and every last dollar out of you for that cocker roach infested place. So if you want to live with crazy people asking you for a smoke, a dollar, a cup of coffee then you move there. they want to charge long beach prices and be in Central islip.they make there own rules. I now live on the beach in a luxury building in Long Beach with a management company that owns 40 buildings in Manhatten and they give a 10 day grace period like New york state laws stipulates but not HAWTHORNE, 5 DAYS AND 10%. The building i live in now only 50 dollars after 10 days and then after the 5th day they are threatening u with letters.Listen dont even think of moving there. worst experience of my life. I paid my rent every month and then the lies about the maintenance every 3 months. NO EVERY MONTH AND THEY CHARGE U FOR GARBAGE, WATER, COOKING GAS, THE MOTHERS ASS. ITS HORRIBLE. I HATED THERE AND I HATE THE STAFF.
DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS COMPLEX READ BELOW.I currently live at the complex and have had nothing but problems with this complex especially the staff. The day before we moved in we picked up the keys and went shopping filled the whole fridge and freezer came back the next day to move in all our food we purchased went bad because the fridge was broken. The following week I was in my living room and heard dishes crashing in the kitchen I went in to find my Grandmothers 100 year old China smashed all over due to the maintenance staff not fixing the broken shelf properly I was never refunded for the over 300 dollars in groceries and was basically told we dont care about the food or 100 year old China. We also noticed areas on the floor dip down like it is rotten or something when we moved in we were told the apartment was recently fixed up we had over 3 pages of work that needed to be done our apartment was just vacated a week before we moved in I was told that by a employee I wont name. We have had nothing but problems with this place. DO NOT MOVE HERE IT IS HORRIBLE THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THAT RENT CHECK.
*NOT KIND STAFF*My husband and I moved to Long Island about 3 months ago and settled here, but after living here we have recognized that the staff are not welcoming, kind, or friendly. We were behind on our rent for a couple months because of complications with my husbands job and NY being very expensive to live, but we managed to pay everything that we owe plus more. His job ended up transferring him and his boss sent a check to the Hawthorne Court office of our rent and fees before our court date and the office sent us a letter back saying that they are charging us $500 for receiving the check the morning after plus paying another 2 months rent when we wont be living here from the 60 day notice. Its outrageous how much they try to scam you on anything with no grace. Do NOT live here. Also, we were paying $2,000 a month for a 2bed/1bath and it didnt come with a microwave or granite counter tops. Not worth it.
Management sucks, rushed me to pay 1st mnth n security witout seeying the apt. Carpet was stained b4 i got there, an them ladies in that office are nothing but stuck up hoes that think there knowitalls, tenants smoke ciggarettes in the little hallways, cheap washin machines, overall place sucks, n if u complain, she wont renew ur lease, dnt waste your time
This place is nasty and falling apart, that goes for staff also. Staff would come into my apartment for no reason when I wasnt home. They would eat leftovers from the refrigerator. The rent goes up every time year and when you move they find reasons to keep your security deposit.

2022-06-28New management does not respond - I have been paying rent on time and have a $123 credit for paying in advance the fees by mistake - «Lincoln properties» portal suddenly shuts down - they switched management to «Hawthorne Living» overnight: I thought it was a positive change but now new portal shows $0 credit, no timeframe for the fees and even after trying to contact them they just simply Don’t reply - I have kept careful records of all my bills and payments in case I need to lawyer up but Please fix your new payment portal: show dates and credit balances is a very simple thing to ask.

2021-09-24First of all, I’d like to say I hate moving. In my experience moving has never been a smooth transition. My current move has been cross-country, so you can imagine the frustration and anxiety that I have experienced. That said, I’d like to thank Shawn Bolding in Hawthorne Court’s leasing office for his attentiveness and commitment to minimizing the turmoil that a cross country move entails. I agree with some of the other comments posted here that the leasing office can be a challenge as it is unnecessarily bureaucratic. Nevertheless, Mr. Bolding fought for me, and took on the ire of the leasing office on my behalf. He’s a natural when it comes to customer service, and we’re all better off for it.I’d also like to thank Steve Velardo for intervening in bringing into fruition my desire to live at Hawthorne Court. Lastly, I’d like to thank Cary for greeting me at the door of the leasing office with a great big smile, immediately getting me situated, and offered refreshments during my wait.As mentioned by others, Hawthorne Court is a pet-friendly beautiful complex with lots of friendly neighbors, situated near shops, restaurants, public transportation, and highways. So far, I have enjoyed my stay here.

2021-10-05I moved here about 2 years ago with my wife. It was awesome. Then the new people took over. They raised my rent $200 more a month.(for a one bedroom) It’s nice that the new owners are trying to fix up the complex to make it feel nicer but the rent is really not worth it.(especially in that area of Central Islip) Everyday I saw a new moving trunk and every single one was people moving out. I reached out to ask why they are charging me so much and never got a response. These people only want the money. Maintenance man drive around on their golf carts all day always being nosy and looking at what you’re doing. One stopped driving and actually waited to watch if I was going to throw my garbage in or next to the dumpster. Unfair pricing in a bad area.

2022-03-17Don’t waste your time going here they are racist and bias. Very unprofessional management Alex is a lier put me though hell and income discrimination at its finest. A complete waste of time I would read the reviews call the Better Business Bureau and speak to their regional manager before you even do an application there. Thank god I didn’t move my family there.

2021-08-18I was a resident here and signed two leases. This people are horrible, the leasing staff and management staff is horrible. You can never get in touch with anyone, through email or calling it’s always a run around. After I moved out of my first unit I got charged a huge bill for things that were wear and tear items, I had to fight the for weeks to prove it, Thankfully, I took photos. You would really think they would show compassion since I was signing another lease with them. I signed my second lease, and ended up breaking it early to move out of state and I paid the penalty for breaking the lease. I provided them with a check a few days before I moved out. Once I handed them the key, they sent me a email stating that I owed them the penalty fee, thank god I saved the receipt, my leasing rep Marissa said that it was “applied to another account” LIKE HOW DO YOU MAKE A MISTAKE LIKE THAT? Once that was cleared up again after going back and forth with them for a while, they owe me a security deposit. I moved out of my second unit on may 17th today is August 18th and I still haven’t received my owed security deposit. I’ve sent countlesss emails and I’ve called, I’ve been getting the run around. Marissa told me that “the fedex package with the security deposit checks got lost”” I’m sorry that sounds like B.S to be it’s been three months and I still don’t have a time frame on when I’ll receive it. This I ridiculous, these people are crooks and I will be taking legal action if I have to. I am a licensed realtor in the state of NY and is very aware of tenant rights. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! I always paid my rent on time, I had it in autopay, never really called maintenance for anything. I was a great tenant, I usually don’t write reviews but this is way out of control, I believe people should know about this horrible apartment community. I hope the property management company reads this!

2021-05-18It’s not the greatest apartment complex. I would not recommend. I did not apply but I couldn’t even get in contact with anyone in order to apply. But yet there are multiple units available. I am a good candidate and have great credentials I am a quiet tenant that pays on time and respectful. The residents that live here it’s not a great option for me. So I decided not to further try to apply. Although I never got a response. I reached out multiple ways. Through email multiple voicemails. I decided to go to the location they don’t answer the door but tell you to call and never get back to you. So for that reason I can understand why they have terrible tenants. They don’t even give good tenants a chance. It’s a shame.

2021-06-07Huge thanks to Junior and Abraham (I hope I spelled their names correctly) from maintenance office. They were great! Laundry service was killing me each time I do my laundry, can’t remember how many times I had issues. Other than that, we were happy about our life there.

2020-01-28Where to start? I was promised the one month free move in special, then after two months of living there, the misguided leading agent Joe said I never qualified for it but I even have receipts showing I did! I confronted them and their response was to extend my lease another month? Anytime you need service to your apartment, MAYBE the next tenant who lives there will receive the visit. Plowing sucks in the winter. Walls and floors are paper thin so you heard every movement of every person in the building. Washer constantly flooded. They also charged me for my ESA dog which is against the law. Renters smoke in the hallway. With the help of my lawyer, I was able to get out of my lease early. My advice? Save your money, spend the extra 100 elsewhere a month for rent. Probably the worst complex I’ve ever been too

2020-11-12I’ve been a resident of this place for over 2.5 years, never missed a payment, and have been a great tenant. I live here with my 16 year old daughter. We simply live here just to go to and from school and to work. We bother no one. We keep our apartment in mint condition. When I initially moved here, I was sold all kinds of “elite” expectations of the community.I wish I had a crystal ball to see that it was all propaganda. The new residents they’re renting to, leave their trash everywhere, which I’ve continually complained about, they don’t clean up after their dogs, and me of them are violent. There was a stabbing incident between 2 residents just a couple of months ago. And the attack wasn’t the first time. I recorded the aftermath, and spoke with Internal Affairs about the incident, because the officers retrieved the weapon, but REFUSED to arrest the attacker. The victim, who is also a resident was bleeding. The other residents who are leaving their trash all over the property, have guests that come over, and leave their trash outside. Some of the residents have had to call and complain about the noise amongst them, as late as 2 in the morning!!The hallways need a major facelift!! The steps are creek as U walk up!! There’s garbage on some of the balconies. If U place a work order...good luck getting a call back in a timely fashion. I put one in with the maintenance department, to replace my bathroom mirror and light fixture, because rust is falling down all over my sink. NO ONE HAS BOTHERED TO CONTACT ME!! And when they do come in, they enter your home when you’re not there, even though I’ve noted for no one to enter without my presence, UNLESS it’s an EMERGENCY! One of their workers entered my home as I was getting out of MY SHOWER!!I’m currently DISABLED!! I’m out on Comp due to an ASSAULT at my job, in which an unknown assailant threw a cement slab at the windshield of my bus while I was driving it!! I’m currently going through the disability process. I’m also currently recovering from an HYSTERECTOMY. I woke up this morning to find that my car was TOWED because I parked it in the handicapped spot. Although I KNOW it’s for disabled ppl, one would think at the very least, that HAWTHORNE’S MANAGEMENT would have the decency to at least email me that my car was towed.I own that the parking of my car in that spot is of my own fault, but the manner in which this place operates is disgusting!! They were towing residents cars over the summer when they were repaving the parking lot. It was claimed that we were all emailed about us possibly being towed. Not everyone logs on to check their email!Paper still exists! It’s now pouring down rain, I’m without my car, and after spending well over 2 hours trying to find out who to speak to, to find out where the hell my car is, I was finally able to speak to a man at the tow yard Hawthorne uses, who condescendingly told me that I have to wait until 10:00 to make an appointment to go and get my car!! When I asked him where my car was, he said they have 4 different yards, so he has no idea, abd to call back at 10:00 to find out.I only got my car’s location because I tracked her on my phone!RENT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!I’D NEVER REFER ANYONE HERE AGAIN!!
