Always am amazing bagel here. The service staff is friendly and they have a ton of options. Surprisingly, their coffee is really good too.I have not tried their baked goods and cookies yet, but who needs to when your bagels are this good.It can get very crowded and the store itself is tiny so go early or go late, or be lucky!
Best bagels in the World. I tried bagels from various delis in Jersey and Manhattan and I’m sorry but these are the best bagels I’ve ever had in my life. You don’t even need cream cheese, it’s that good on it’s own. I’m sad we sold our condo on the island :(And the staff were very friendly with smiles on too, couldn’t have been happier.
I have been a customer of Heartland Bagels for at least 20 years. The girl behind the counter was beyond rude with such major attitude ! I ordered a dozen bagels and asked for a toasted bagel scooped out. She chatted with someone behind the counter and came back to me saying “we don’t do that and there would be an up charge to scoop it”. When I told her it has been done before here, she chose to give attitude and basically ignore my conversation. Btw it was an off hour and they were not busy. Seems like other reviews are similar with poor customer service. Where are the owners and do they care about their customers???
NOT FOR MEAT LOVERS!!!! I was in area and hungry but reviews seemed great but I should have read them before going. Seemed mixed either very great or low. So my score was low cause I go there and not much of availabilty to a menu. No meat whatsoever. When asked kind of cheeses I asked for one they mentioned but then still tell me dont have it...what is the point of telling me types of cheese if not available. Place seems cramped. Have shelves along the small store. Minimum of $5 if using a card which I found out from person who took my order. Frustrated I just said give me a tea to put me over the cap of usage. Cause was so cramped was hard for me to go near register to see some hand written sign in small letters about debit card or credit card. No idea if food is good cause was able to get sandwich for other person I was with. They said it was just fine but had better. Everyone has different taste.
Bagels are delicious, but customer service is very poor. The girl taking the orders has a nasty attitude and should not treat customers the way she does.Note to owner: I understand it might be cheap labor, but from a business perspective, it will hurt you in the long run.
Ive been a customer of heartland bagels since it opened, many many years ago. Always raved about quality and service..WELL THATS GONE.. STAFF, ESPECIALLY YOUNG GIRL, who was obviously either oblivious or just down right Rude. Quality has also deteriorated.. Good Bye old reliable Friend. Will be seeking other options
Went here a few years back while visiting family my uncle sent me to get bagels one morning and i was in there every morning for the week i was there .I live in Orlando Florida and miss the bagels and there cookies, took alot back with me on the train ride. omg i wish you would shipped .I would buy..miss real food. Love u guys .
Best. Bagels. Ever.Three and a half years ago we moved to a condo about a mile away from these bagels. We soon discovered Heartland bagels and now we know what bagels are supposed to taste like. We’ve tried every kind they make. They’re all fantastic. Great crust. Soft delicious insides. My personal faves are sesame and cinnamon raisin. Husband loves the everything bagels. They also have a variety of cream cheeses, and lovely lox, cookies and chocolate babka and more.We bring them to relatives in San Diego and Newport RI and anywhere else where they can’t get real New York bagels. Company at our place get bagels and lox for breakfast and go home with bags full of their faves. We’re moving to Philly soon - What will Xmas morning be without Heartland Bagels? 😢Sunday mornings there can be looong lines, but I promise you it’s worth it.Have to admit I’ve never tried the coffee - it’s all about the bagels!
I love going to this bagel shop and bakery. They have a good selection and, most importantly, their staff are attentive and fun to interact with. It is a little cramped inside, especially when there is a crowd growing. Their baked goods, which are delicious, are also of a wide variety. Though I am not Jewish, it is worth noting that they have Kosher-friendly options for those who observe.Note: $5.00 minimum for credit cards. My Go-To: Medium coffee with cream and sugar; everything bagel toasted with scallion cream cheese.
The best bagels anywhere in the world! They are soft, fresh and tasty! The tuna salad is one of the most flavorful Ive ever had. They have unique bagels, like french toast bagel or a fruity pebbles cereal bagel. Also, their bakery stuff is out of control tasty. Try the rainbiw cookie donut!
The good- Best bagels on the island hands down, good bakery items also. Not a native to SI but lived here a bit, I’ve been to your bagel depot and not just bagels , this place just has better quality stuff. If you got a sweet tooth get French toast bagel or cinnamon raisin with raisin walnut spread (to die for). The bad- they have very solid but limited cream cheese selection, not much creative stuff. They need to up their coffee game , like a lot, cause right now it’s a minus star. FINALLY the hardest part to deal with here is that the line is always out the door (price you pay for good bagels I suppose). Worth it.
Heartland bagels good place very neat clean prices are okay food wise is pretty good Ill go over there every once in awhile for a bagel with cream cheese bagel is very fresh and soft workers are pretty good except for some people say they need to pay more attention which is true other than it its a great place to go to and check it out for bagels breakfast and as far as hot food if you wanted hot you have to get it before 1:00 because then they shut off their cooking area so dont ask for hot food after 1:00 you have to do it before that time
We have been going to this store for many, many years. We were never disappointed. HOWEVER, that has all changed. The challahs for Rosh Hashanah were stale. There were hardly any raisins in the raisin challah and the plain got molded on the bottom after 3 days. Not to mention they were considerably smaller and pricier then usual. Not a way to keep customers!!
Service is a bit slow and weird, they are very friendly, but seem impatient taking the order (caring if I want salt & pepper, but no time to care how done I want my egg). All in all a very nice and small establishment, serving good food, interesting pastries and a pleasure to have as a local option.I wish I had one even closer to home on the way to work - I would get my daily breakfast and lunch there every day if I could. Please add some real coffee (espresso based) options!
Edited: I had to drop this down to one star and id go 0 if possible. Everything below is still true. The reason Im lowering to the lowest possible rating is because of the regularity of getting orders wrong. I understand no place is perfect but this place just cannot get it together. 3 out of the last 4 orders of mine were all wrong in some way. How can I in any good conscious give any sort of positive rating when they cant even do the bare minimum and give me what i paid for greater than half time. The manager/owner needs to really wake up and start paying attention to whats going. Nostalgia can only keep a business running so long.Bagels are usually good here although very inconsistent. The big problem with this place is that the employees cannot get orders right. Its shocking how often this place gets orders wrong. Sometimes its something as simple as not toasting the bagel or sometimes they even use the wrong bagel, or they even make the wrong kind of eggs. Its disappointing to get home and see your order is wrong. Since its only a cheap breakfast sandwich, its not worth it to go back and have it fixed. This should be even scarier for the owner since theres no data to monitor the quality of the stores output.
The last two times my wife went to Heartland Bagels she was treated like garbage. Due to COVID they have people waiting outside the store so they have to come to the door to let you in. They get so angry while doing this and just speak to customers in a very disrespectful manner. Sad to say I am done with this establishment.
Been going here for a while now and i always get their sugar free turnovers cause it’s amazing but this young girl with an attitude grab it with just a wax paper and no glove , since there’s a virus i think they should have better safety and smarter decisions, i normally don’t do this but i felt like it was necessary and they should do something about wearing gloves at all times!
This is one of my favorite places to go for bagels, bialys, rolls and omg the rainbow donuts are amazing there donuts are chuck full of jelly or cream. The bagels are just as good as any bagel i use to love from Brooklyn. In fact better. They also sell low carb bagels my favorite is the low csrb everything bagel.
Keep hearing rave reviews about this place but unable to order. They dont take order if its the Holiday. This is the 2nd time this has happened when trying to order a dozen bagels for meetings. When giving this information theyre curt, and short and unapologetic. They dont offer solutions and just tell you to take your chance coming in.
To all of the wonderful people who own and work this establishment, someone just posted your incredibly generous offer of support to 1st responders on FB. Appreciated more than you know! Humanity in any form is in very short supply these days. Thank you for showing yours!

2022-04-15Took 20 mins of waiting in line for an egg and cheese. Easily the worst sandwich Ive ever had. The roll was like toast, it was so stale.

2022-01-18I have been coming here for years. The customer service has never been great. I don’t always get what I order. The price of a bagel with cream cheese changes depending on who is at the register. There are usually teenagers working. Today the staff was exceptionally rude. I ordered my bagels toasted dark. I had to wait over 35 minutes. People that came after me were helped. I was told that because I wanted my bagels toasted dark I would have to wait. I was surprised at how rude the staff was. I will never order here again.

2022-03-10When I approached the cashier to pick up my to-go order (that was already paid for) she told me that I had to wait on line to pick up my to-go order. There were about 7 people waiting to place an order while my order was sitting right behind her getting cold. Three other employees walked behind the cashier and no one offered to assist me while my order was sitting on the back counter.

2021-09-12Consistently best bagels on Staten Island. Long lines at peak times but they are usually well staffed and efficient. Well operated neighborhood bagel store. Kosher.

2021-04-19Great food but every single time I tell them what I want I get home and something is wrong. Just now I spent $30 in there ordered a TOASTED bagel with cc and freak LOx. The bagel is cold and hard and not toasted! Very disappointed. Last time I asked for cc and fresh lox and got lox spread. I also asked for my bagel to be toasted and again wasn’t toasted. But the food is very good. The girls at the counter need to pay attention better.

2020-10-21I usually don’t leave reviews, but I’m torn with Heartland Bagels and been going since I was a kid. I just moved back to the area and was excited to have this store be my main bagel place again. What happened....the customer service is atrocious, the girls behind the counter give attitude to every customer that comes in. They are either too busy chatting in the corner with each other or talk back to customers. I even brought my friend out of town to give them a first impression and they were giving her a hard time. Your second location in Rossville is way better on the customer service front. Please look at the recent reviews and address this, it’s not just me. Otherwise, bagels are good.

2020-12-19Randomly stopped by to get a bagel for lunch. The bagels were fresh and delicious. The tuna was really good, a classic tuna salad. Two thumbs up for this place. You are doing a great job!
