We held our annual company meeting at Helen Mills. It was a full-day event where we used both the theater space and the event reception room upstairs. The theater provided an intimate and practical setting which comfortably accommodated our group of 100+. The reception space was beautiful and we were given a multitude of options for set-up and unique opportunities for branding/customization.What sets Helen Mills apart from other venues in NYC the most though is the staff and overall planning experience. Every interaction that I had with the staff, prior to, and on the day of our event, was outstanding. I was extremely pleased with everything about hosting my charitable event at Helen Mills. The venue is fantastic and having the theater downstairs made for an incredibly unique event for our guests. My day-to-day contact for the event, Rebekah Kim, was outstanding to work with and an excellent resource. The venues bartenders worked our event perfectly and the tech and venue manager we worked with ran everything beautifully.
Kate and the staff at Helen Mills are top notch. Weve held client launch events in the space for two years in a row and would definitely work with this team, and recommend them to others, again in the future. Kate is keen on the small details and making sure everything runs perfectly. Her team is just as personable and lovely, especially the catering staff. The facility is a great space in impeccable condition; they had most every piece of equipment and furniture we needed, which allowed us to stay on budget and create a spectacular event.
Just had an event at Helen Mills Theater and Event Space was a wonderful experience. The staff was amazing from daily operations, AV, catering. Decor was great. Everyone from my internal staff to all of our attendees only had positive comments was one of the best venues I have worked with highly recommend this venue.
Our event - Stand Up Against Domestic Violence - held at the Helen Mills was a great success.This was our sixth event in the space; we have held art auctions, jazz concerts and comedy shows to raise money to stop domestic violence. The unique arrangement of theater and event space really suits our needs and help us stage unique entertaining events at a comparatively low cost.The Helen Mills staff is great and really adds to the planning and event experience.I would definitely come back and definitely recommend the space.
We have been using Helen Mills Theater for fundraising events for several years now and are always pleased with our experience! We just had our annual gala there, and the staff was exceptionally helpful throughout the planning process and made sure our event ran smoothly the night of. We very much enjoy using this space.
We rented the theater and event center for an all-day tech conference with customers and partners. Both the space and staff made a fantastic impression and helped to make our event a tremendous success. Excellent to work with, especially since we booked sight-unseen from CA - upon arrival, everything met our expectations as pictured and explained in photos and conversations.
I was here at the event space and the theater, which was located next door in the lower level. The screening rooms hold about 100-200 people and creates an intimate setting for small talks and Q&A. I thought it was great that they had a place for me to plug in to charge my phone battery against one of the walls in the back. However, internet connectivity was non-existent.The Helen Mills Event Space was very nice - I was here for the Shop for Success event - which was great - they had nice sofas to sit on, and the space can be easily organized in many formats. I look forward to many more events here as well.
We had our Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Memorial Fifteenth Annual Memorial Fund Raiser at the HELEN MILLS Event Space on March 24, 2016. Everyone we worked with there is highly professional and easy to work with. Our event was perfectly executed thanks to their wonderful staff.They went out of their way to make certain our event was seamless.In addition, their warmth, compassion, and empathy for our cause is deeply appreciated. We knew we were in excellent hands and hope to have the pleasure of having our event there again next year.
The Helen Mills staff was a delight to work with from beginning to end. In preparation of our event the attention to detail was impeccable and our venue contacts, Kate Mills and Isabelle Mills-Tannenbaum, were very attentive and accommodating to our needs throughout the planning process. I highly recommend the Helen Mills Event Space.
Helen Mills is nothing short of a great event space! Gorgeous layout, high ceilings and open floor plan,...an event planners dream. Isabelle and staff were knowledgeable, accomodating, and very easy to work with. Extremely fast turnaround to all of my planning questions. Outside of event space lets you brand your entire event! I will definitely be back!
NELA NY had an amazing Benefit Dinner at Helen Mills. The space allowed us to create a visually stimulating, sophisticated and modern environment, which our members loved. The staff was very helpful yet unobtrusive. I recommend Helen Mills for any event where you would like your guest to feel wooed the moment they approach the street level entrance.
I have been the events field for 10+ years and worked with numerous venues, and venue managers, throughout New York City. Helen Mills not only met but far exceeded expectations. Venue Manager Emily Misskelley was phenomenal. I have grown accustom to venue managers who pop in to open doors, disappear and then pop in once again when its time for the event to begin. Emily was present and available from event setup to break down ready and willing to assist my event production team in whatever way possible. Mark M., head of A/V was phenomenal pleasure to work with as as well and really brought the event to life with lighting and effects. I look forward to having the opportunity to work with Helen Mills again and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an NYC venue.
We booked the theater with very short notice, and unsure of our exact technical needs, but they made everything seamless and easy. They were just a pleasure to deal with. The technical support was completely stress free, the theater was lovely and everything was absolutely perfect. Would not hesitate to recommend for anyone.
Helen Mills and her staff (Isabelle, Mark & Chris) were nothing short of gracious and accommodating. They willingly opened their doors to a group of homeless youth who dream of becoming actors and gave them a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform on a stage. The youth audibly gasped when we arrived, taken aback by how lovely the space is. The event was wonderful, thanks in large part to the Helen Mills staff treating the youth with utmost respect and care. I could not ask for a better experience.
I rented out the theater room for my short films movie premiere. The space was perfect. My cast and crew, and all our invited guests, had a really great time. Every seat had a good view, and the film looked amazing on the big screen. I want to especially thank the projectionist and technician Mark Unthank for his expertise and patience in getting the film to play and sound just right.On another note, this is the best deal youll get price-wise for a screening room. Every other theater in the city is two to three times more expensive.
Space is great! Kate is fantastic to work with! All attendees were impressed with Helen Mills Event Space. They were able to accomodate a digital event that required over 50 wireless devices to be running at one time and a specific set-up. We would definately hold another event here for MEC.
I book venues often. Its rare that every logistic correspondence is timely, they were. Contracts were clear and any questions were answered quickly.The venue staff went above and beyond with flexibility, kindness and courtesy. Im so grateful for the opportunity to work with such a professional space. It will not be the last time.
Unexpected delight in a cozy well-located event space which has a lounge upstairs (which we did not use) and a wonderful intimate theater space. Kate Mills was very helpful to us despite some crazy necessities, and the technical director, Mark Unthank was very helpful to the production. 5/20/14:I visited for the first time to attend the Perceive: Design for Meaningful Experiences event hosted by the FIT Media Design Club. The space is one of the coolest I have seen, at least the way this event utilized the room. It has a very clean design and plenty of space to house all sorts of exhibits. There is also a counter area for various set ups.
From the start of planning until I received my wrapped up dinner to take home (had no time to eat) my event coordinator and on-site evening of event staff were impeccable. I could not be more pleased with every aspect of the event and the experience that I had planning the event. Thank you!!

2016-10-26Nice open space with hardwood floors and a decent bar. The theater/stage downstairs is pretty nice and seats 160. During a crowded event, the flow of walking traffic is difficult because its somewhat narrow and there are no alternate routes.

The Helen Mills staff really goes out of their way to make sure your event is perfect. They worked with us and put together a 140 person event within 2 weeks. The process was extremely smooth and they were upfront about all cost and were great at making recommendations and finding solutions.The event space is beautiful and versatile. Great flexibility with lighting and design. Anything you can think of, Helen Mills can help you make it a reality.Thank you to the entire Helen Mills Team for making our night great!

2017-01-04We held an event at Helen Mills (HM) Event Space on 12/31/2016 for approximately 225 people. We could not have asked for a better experience with the HM event space and their staff. We give the space and staff the highest commendations, and we wholeheartedly recommend this event space and their staff to anyone considering hosting an event here.Beginning with our very first meeting with the HM staff to do a site tour, everyone was very professional, competent, friendly, great at communicating, and an overall pleasure to work with. This remained true throughout the planning process, during the actual event, and through the follow-up and debrief. All of the staff, including the event manager, security, audio/video technician, bartenders, coat check, bussers, and kitchen staff, were incredibly helpful and courteous during set-up, the event, and break-down. The event space itself is spacious (accommodated 225 people easily) and beautiful and has the versatility to accommodate a range of events. It made for an absolutely magical evening for us as organizers and definitely for all our guests!A big THANK YOU to Helen Mills event space and their staff – we definitely look forward to coming back and working with you again!

2015-06-17Recently hosted an event with the Helen Mills Event Space and could not be happier with how everything turned out. The staff was super attentive from start to finish and worked with us to accommodate our budget, party size and many other requests. The food was delicious and plentiful (not often the case with some catering) and I loved the opportunity to customize the space with lighting, logo and branding. I had many rave reviews from our guests as well. Would definitely come back!

2019-07-203.75 stars. The space is just okay, nothing amazing. Nice bar, its big and pretty.Additionally, I hear they do event catering really well! Ive been there for events and, impressed with the food, I asked the people who invited me about the food. I was told the Helen Mills venue coordinates the food for events.For organizations who choose to do business with this venue, I assume the bar is the glamour factor. The staff is professional. The seating is basic. The acoustics are good. I felt the schmooze zone by the bar was a nice size.

2015-11-09This venue was wonderful to work with. Prior to our event, I found much of the logistical information needed could be found on the Helen Mills website, which was extremely helpful with planning. All of my outstanding questions were answered promptly, and thoroughly, by Helen Mills staff. Their onsite staff worked closely with me to make sure guests needs were taken care of the day of our conference. They also went above and beyond to ensure presentations displayed correctly, our timeline stayed on track and even assisted with catering load in. Feedback from conference participants has been glowing, and many have asked if we will be repeating the event at the space next year. If youre looking for a seamless event experience in a great location, book Helen Mills Event Space.

2016-01-29We hosted an event here last week (Jan 2016), and it couldnt have gone better. Weve had great feedback from our delegates and sponsors about the venue - the ambience created by the lights and furniture in the event space was amazing, and created a really buzzing atmosphere, which is always good. I can also highly recommend the falafel slider - so delicious!In the lead up to the event, as well as on the day itself, I had great support from staff, everyone was so helpful and accommodating, and its always so nice to work with people so willing to help make the event a success.Well definitely be looking to come back for the event again next year - thank you Helen Mills!
