I am writing this review in reference to a legal video I saw, where the staff assisted a customer despite the effort (or lack there of) by corporate. Hertz as a company is awful, but they do hire some of the best people. Part of me believes that the reason why their employees are so compassionate is because they see their company as a heartless drone only interested in the profit share.
I reserved a rental van for moving at noon on Saturday. Received a confirmation e-mail the day before that my rental would be ready. I walked into the parking garage at 12 and as I walked in, I saw what I later learned to be the employees driving out the garage. Closed up and locked. Never got my reservation.Hertz corporate customer service will continuously reroute you so you never speak to someone directly. After calling the location individually, the person on the phone said We advise that our customers arrive early to receive their pickup. Except I was never advised that and even received a confirmation e-mail.If you have confirmed reservations for 12:00, you should give customers more than a thirty second window to arrive and pick up. If you want to be able to leave right after closing, the latest pick up should be fifteen minutes prior.The person I spoke to was very insincere and did not care. I was polite and recognized that it wasnt his fault, he was just the one that picked up the phone when I called, could someone else give me a call back? Never received a call back nor did anyone answer my calls for the next week. Incredibly unprofessional.Based on other reviews, this is happened before and Im sure it will happen again.
Never again, never again.Id like to thank them for helping me go to Avis, who provide the service that just seems too far up for this Hertz crew. Somewhere between sleazy and downright dishonest.Because of this location, I cancelled all my future Hertz bookings and moved then to Avis.
I had to wait in line, but they are a small operation, competing alongside the garage traffic and parking company, and respecting and enforcing social distancing. When it was my turn they were nothing but pleasant. Every staff member greeted me when I passed and the gentleman and woman who helped me were so kind. They gave me a nicer car than expected and applied a discount that came out that day to my reservation made only a few days before. I saw others being very rude to them and they still showed them the same kindness. One of the best sites non airport in Brooklyn!
They were quick and efficient and the morning desk attendant was nice and helpful with most questions. This specific location was nice but the Hertz corporations have some weird hoops to jump sometimes.I was told on multiple occasions, that with the promotion I had, I would not to be charged X amount to my card (even though it was on my projected receipt). It ended up being charged to my card because the location was not aware of the promotion. Customer service was quick and easy when it came to getting that fixed though.I was also told I have to wait for a receipt for the tolls and then fill out some paperwork in order to pay for it. I get waiting for the tolls receipt but I feel like it should just be charged to my card.Some of these hoops just seem like theyre set up so people will forget to take care of them or dont bother to dispute them just so they pocket the rest or tack on extra fees. The moral of the story is to dispute charges that you think are wrong when it comes to Hertz, theyll take care of it if you mention it but its a little sneaky.
Fantastic service and great staff working at this Hertz office. Ive picked up a car from this place twice or three times, and every instance was a seamless and pleasant experience, and the staff were nice and helpful. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews, which are unfair based on my experience.People complaining about lack of cars or after hour drop-offs, thats just what you get with these bigger car rental companies. Once you have your reservation and agreed a drop-off date / time, you shouldnt have any issues.I would recommend!
Anyone saying nice things about this place are for sure being paid to do so. This location and the people who work there are awful. The cars are dirty. The parent company is no better and will not hep you if even the slightest thing goes wrong with you reservation. Go rent from literally anyone else.
Terrible customer service. Had to return the car I rented by 445 pm. I arrived at 430 and they were already closed - there was a sign on the door noting they were closed as they had run out of cars for reservations and to call the customer service number. No wonder they run out of cars for reservations when they are not open until their advertised closed time. Tried to charge me for an extra day after I had to hold on to the car in order to return it the next morning. The parking garage attendant for the apartment building across the street told me this location routinely closes early. When I returned the car the next day, the hertz employee behind the counter told me they were there and open past 5 pm the day I tried to return the car. Of course when I returned the car there were at least 5 people waiting in line who were told they would have to wait for a car because hertz had run out of cars at this location. Don’t waste your time with this location.
The service I received at this location was GREAT! the people checking me in were helpful and polite. Explained everything when I picked up the car. Directly after me was a guy being very rude would cut them off when they tried to explain anything, and the office associates were STILL polite and professional to him while he was causing his scene. If I could give them 10 stars I would! Thanks for your help.
They didnt gave me the car class I ordered, claiming that they need 24-48 hours after reservation is placed. So the only option they offered was a medium size car.Also, waiting time to be called for next was 10 minutes, although there was 2 reps sitting in front computer, and I was the only 1 in line... after processing payment, it took them another 9 minutes to bring the car due to sanitizing.Didnt had this experience at other locations.
The woman that answered the phone when I called was the RUDEST customer service experience I’ve ever had. I understand they were stressed out and busy because of the virus and all the car rentals, but she was blatantly rude and belittling before I’d even gotten to asking her when I should expect to pick up my car. As soon as she answered the phone she sounded annoyed with me and treated my calling as a burden. In contrast, I ended up using enterprise the very same day. The woman on the phone was especially nice, patient, and went out of her way to help me, even told me about their current student discount. Glad I didn’t end up going with this company.
ZERO stars. I wouldnt recommend this location for a rental. I used it few times and was never reliable. One time they let me book a car and when I arrived they didnt have any available cars. Recently we booked a car at 5pm and when we arrived, the location was closed, the following day the management team wasnt helpful neither pleasant to deal with.
Honestly Ive only rented from this location twice and I completely understand the lot is shared but whenever someone makes a reservation despite the time..you should have the allotted inventory available.The fact that I recently made a reservation and got caught up with work then had to rush to pick up my rental later..the young lady was very abrupt and a bit disrespectful in her responses to my questions. Its unfortunate, because I frequently rent from hertz. You need to retrain your employees on customer service; what that means when dealing with people/customers and what it SHOULD look like.
I arrived early and found a long line as soon as I got there. The whole operation was being run by two people on a busy Friday morning(I assume many people were heading out of the city for the weekend). The young woman who helped me was extremely polite and efficient given the circumstances. The office is tiny and theyre competing with regular garage traffic(this location is run out of a bust parking garage) so theyre only a key to serve a single customer at a time. Come early and expect to wait in line.
Worst experience, number 1 : the car was too small,when I made the reservation online the vehicle description was 5ppl 🤣🤣 Not what I was given. When I asked if it could be changed to something else they told me I would have to go to another location and see if they had something available to change for, not even tried to accommodate me whatsoever. Number 2: the car was filthy on the outside and a bunch of bird poop, the person who had it before me mustve had a kid cause I found kids toys in the back.safe to say I wont be renting from there again.
Hidden charges. Do not leave your car and wait for the bill. I was waiting there to return my car for 40 minutes, they opened an hour later than the time I took my car out and charged me for that extra hour. The person at the counter didn’t want to help even though she agreed that the late fee was due to the late opening. Oh! They closed early the night before and didn’t let their customers know.RE. JEREMIAH: Really Jeremiah? Cant even offer a client services number or say someone is looking into the case or whatever? You just want to make sure I rent from you again. Why would I? Even the people that run their social media suck.
This place must be shut down. I’m going to call Hertz corporate after this. There was some seriously shady things going on at this location. They covered their windows so customers aren’t able to look in. I was there 30mins before closing time. They ignored my calls, didn’t answer the door while they were physically in the office. I watched them lock up and walk away through the back exit while I was waiting to pick up my confirmed rental. I was absolutely baffled by the mistreatment. Close this location and fire their employees!!!
Just don’t bother.I had to drive in to Manhattan to actually drop off my car because this location was closed at 4pm when I had the return scheduled AND at 8am the following day when I tried again. As others have posted, they seem to randomly close shop unbeknownst to both renters and anyone else at Hertz.
Never answered phone. no one there during time i was supposed to pick up car. customer service number is a joke. thanks for ruining a week of work for me guys that this car was needed for. at least have the decency to answer your phone or dont list a number? Ive been calling for the past few hours so its not like this is calling an hour or less before close at this point.
Atrocious. Do not visit or ever rent from Hertz. Rented a 7 person SUV, was given a location to pick up from, but the location was closed, along with 4 other nearby locations. All Hertz support lines go to call centers and turned out that not a single Hertz location in all boroughs of NYC had our car available that day. It was a scam that we immediately refunded. Dont trust.
Awful customer service. Tried to drop car off on time and was told that the system was shut off and nothing could be done. Was also told that i could drop off in the morning for no charge since they don’t do hourly rentals and of course got charge a late fee. Lady talked to me like I was dumb for inquiring. Overall terrible .
Online hours don’t match in-person hours. Was closed at the time of my online reservation at hertz.com, even though website and google maps said different. Local number went to call center. Call center was unapologetic. Received rude service last time I was here also.

2022-02-08I had a very good experience renting from them. Pick-up probably took me about 20 min, the car was great, great price and a very convenient location. Drop off was just as quick and easy. Also, the woman working there was very friendly and efficient. No issues at all, would come back.

2022-01-31Car made our kids (7 and 2) sick, and the location says sorry, but we cant do anything about it. Stay away. No remorse, prioritizing money over health.We had a rental this weekend, where the smell of the cabin made both of my children sick on the way home. I only drove the car twice, friday on the way out of town, and sunday on the way back. The car smelled very different sunday, I am guessing the cleaning spray wore off, but I also noticed a different smell, which was made stronger given we had to use the heater due to the cold weather (signs of older smoking odors). We had a 2.5 hour drive ahead of us to get home, myself and our two kids.I could tell it was not good, but my children reacted much more severe way. Both of my children, 7 and 2, started to complain that they did not fell well, which is not typical for them. Soon after my 7 year old got sick on himself, which has never happened, and when I stopped to lean him, and his booster seat, the youngest got sick on himself. Again this was when we were bringing the car home back to NY Sunday night.I let the attendant know about this when I dropped it off this morning at 9am, but she was very busy with other customers, but courteous, and said she would talk to her management about it. Well, I finally get in contact with them at 11:30, and they say they cannot do anything about it because they cant smell it. I am absolutely livid that they wont do anything, stay away.

2021-05-19Abysmal customer service, Im surprised Hertz allow this location to continue to operate. The employees here really don’t care. We went to drop the cargo van off on Saturday, arrived at 11.59, and they would not accept our return, with the Hertz representative just walking off and shrugging his shoulders. The vehicle was also dirty and had not been safety checked, with tire pressure warning lights on and no screen wash. Avoid this location at all costs!!!

2020-10-23Very unprofessional operation being run here. The location has been moved but not updated on the site (see picture). Expect to wait at least an hour to get a car, even if you have a reservation. The car was given to me with 1/4 tank of fuel when the Rental Agreement said it was 8/8 Full. Make sure to check this before you leave! Also make sure to document when you return the car - I was charged an extra day because the attendant said I just needed to give him the keys. No employee documented the time returned, and then the receipt said I returned it after the location closed?! HUGE waste of time for me to dispute this charge and deal with everything.

2020-09-21Worst car rental experience of my life. Rude staff, Car was had trash in the back seat which made me less then confident that any additional cleaning was conducted especially with COVID happening charged me for fuel when I brought the car back at the same spot as I received it. Will not be returning.

2021-07-21The worst travel experience of my life. Booked a car months in advance for before a major holiday. When I got there they said they had no cars left. They refused to help me solve the issue and just handed me a pamphlet and told me to call their corporate line. They could not have cared less.
