I reserved a vehicle a week prior through expedisa and when I arrived 15 min past my pick up time the young woman told me about being prompt and that because the waiting room had 10 people and she gave my car away!!!! I then had to wait an hour for a car to arrive from another location. While waiting 2 more clients arrived and was told the same story ......coincidence i think not!! seems to be a game they are running on customers. The young woman said Jet Blue doesnt wait for late passengers how rude!!!! Then to find out that my car was NEVER ready and when it arrived I had to wait for it to be semi cleaned enough to head on the road it smelled of stale smoke which of course they didnt smell go figure. On top of that there EZ pass will charge you the Truck rate when going through tolls . I will not be renting here ever again !
Lynbrook location did not honor their agreement with State Farm, attempted to collect 4x the amount of deposit required, car was not at location yet they accepted the reservation and felt it was perfectly acceptable to tell me to go to another location 10 min away to pick up the car. Open ended reservation/approval yet was advised must return car in 2 days. Horrible service - definitely do not recommend.
Poor inventory management system. Not sure if it is just this location or Hertz in general but there is no point in making a reservations because they will rent out the cars to walk ins without taking into account current reservations. I reserved a car for 11am and not only did they not have a car in my selected car class but I had to wait for them to finish washing the car.
Car was not washed. Stains in the back seat, starbucks wrappers under the seats, ezpass was not functional- I almost got a traffic violation for it. Mind you I waited 1 hour for a prepaid reservation. They also never give you the car u were supposed to get. Stay away! Most of the people being serviced when I was picking up had issues and were angry or unsatisfied with their rental experience
I made my reservation for a full sized vehicle on Mon. May 14th for pickup on Friday May 18th. I selected this location over the location at the airport due to its proximity to my house.Upon arrival I could tell that everything was in a state of chaos. There were about 4 cars in the parking lot, none of which were full sized. There was one customer being helped as I walked in & I could hear his complaints of unprofessionalism from the moment I stepped in until the moment he left & it was my turn to be served. I had to wait an hr while the staff scrambled to track down full sized cars to fulfill reservations. There were two guys who alternated helping one customer, one of which left midway through to go find cars, & two women, one of which was the manager who ran in & out periodically searching for cars as well. I was told they had 40 reservations & late rental returns & that that was the cause of the chaos. If theyre reservations, they were aware that these customers were to be expected. Why not be fully prepared to meet the needs & expectations of the day & your customers?I was showed & offered a mid size SUV due to the delay & unavailability & after surveying the vehicle I accepted it. I needed at least a full size or larger vehicle to meet my needs for the rental. While I sat for another period of time, some other staff members, one of which was the manager, arrived with vehicles from another location. The staff member assisting me finished my paperwork & as he was walking me out to the car notified me that I would be getting a Corolla instead. I was instantly confused & taken aback. Upon surveying this newer assignment I realized that it was not a full size car. ONLY upon inquiry was I informed that it was actually a mid size car. Your company screwed up & I get DOWNGRADED for the inconvenience? My annoyance & anger was obvious on my face & I was promised to receive an email in 20 minutes with a lowered rate & told to bring the car back with no fuel in it. I never received an email. My frustration with the overall experience swayed me to take the vehicle & not fight or argue with anyone, as the staff member assisting me was clearly doing his best with what he was given. This problem clearly is the result of poor management. & management was not available to h&le any of these issues as she was busy running around like a headless chicken trying to find cars.After sitting in the vehicle I realized that it was a disgusting mess. They did not clean the car at all. There were chocolate chips logged into the E brake, cashew shells under the seats, greasy smudges all over the radio display, the doors...pretty much every surface in the front seat. The seats were also stained. & to top it all of, the car had less than a quarter tank of gas in it.Upon return, I was given a whopping discount of $8.35 for the inconvenience that I was caused (no gas, dirty car, hour wait, class downgrade). I made a reservation for a full size car for $141.13 & received a dirty, unfueled, mid size car for $132.78. -_-. I was never informed that they were closed on sunday (the day that I scheduled to return the car) so I was charged for an additional day, never informed that they put a hold of $350 on my credit card, & never given an actual rental contract.This was by far the worst rental experience that Ive had so far in LIFE; Ive had a Hertz vehicle from another location malfunction shortly after leaving the rental location & the experience of returning & swapping out that car went more smoothly than this more recent experience. This location needs better management as the current state is wholly unacceptable. I pretty much feel as though I was baited into reserving a car there because of the rate & then switched on when I arrived to pick up the car. Disgusting & terrible business tactics.The only positive remarks that I can offer is that the car ran well & the gentleman assisting me was courteous in every way. Otherwise, disastrous.
Super helpful and friendly. Had a car in 5 minutes of walking into the building. Really convenient with drop off, I was able either to get a ride with the agents to the auto shop or I could have left the car at the auto shop. Cant get much better than that. I opted for the ride because the staff is that friendly. Its a great place that not too many people know about.
Wait time to get checked in was about 30minutes and there is no parking lot for you to leave your personal vehicle. I had to drive my own car all the way back home and uber back. Not convenient at all. Prices are fairly low considering the holiday(memorial day) approaching so I guess it balances out.
Horrible customer service! The place looks dirty and run down! I waited 45 minutes in the waiting area because the two men where taking there time with two customers one was just sitting there gossiping. Then one man is finally finished with his customer and tells me to have a seat at his desk and proceed to scroll through his phone and start laughing. He finally starts attending to me and then tells me “ummm I see your reservation is for a Jeep Wrangler which we never ever get those cars here sorry” he then told me he can rent me a Kia sport instead. Which I know is not in the same category! I will never reserve at that location again!
They didnt honor my reservation because they gave it to someone else. They had 20 cars in the parking lot and they wouldnt give me another car because I refused to pay for an upgrade. They rather lose a client than give up a small profit. No wonder they are going out of business.
Do not rent from this location. I made a reservation and paid in advance for my rental. Upon arrival female employee said a car was not available at the location. She told me she had a lot of walk ins that morning and rented out my vehicle. I was forced to wait an hour for a car to be driven from another location to Lynbrook and then wait while they hand rag wiped the car. The car was dirty and the type of vehicle was not what I rented. Another customer in the office also had to wait because his vehicle was rented out earlier as well. Next time renting from Rockville Center location.
Worst experience at this rental service. I booked my car through Hotwire and when I reach this location to pick up the car, they say “we don’t have a compact car available”. The worst customer service experienced with this rental location. Would not recommend this location to any one.
I have to agree with the other posts about how the staff make the difference at this location. Both Joseph and Drew were extreamly helpful and efficient. I had a three week rental and rather than offering me the least desirable car, Joseph called me the moring of my rental and offered me a BRAND NEW car. When I arrived, he promply and coutesously showed me the car (very small parking lot) and he and Drew had me on my way within 5 min. Return was equally as easy and friendly. I wish all car rental locations worked this way. I go out of my way to book at this locaiton, great customer service really makes loyal customers.
They didn’t call until after a week and a half stating insurance stop paying and I am responsible for the week and a half and all charge going forward. That’s terrible service to me. I asked about an alert system prior to insurance coverage being up and the lady rudely stated well that is why she is calling... mind you this is a week and a half after. I would never rent from them again unless I really have to choice. Will definitely not use the Lynbrook location.Had a not so great experience picking up the truck as well. Had to pay for a taxi to pick up truck from another location.The Cedarhurst location is interesting as well.
Im calling corporate on these people. They sent a receipt on 10/14 (Mon) and I dropped off the car on 10/13 (Sun) by 6pm. I got charged an extra day because the camera showed I dropped it after 8:30pm. Their cameras are fixed to deceive people. THANK GOD I had my uber receipt showing I was picked up at 6:37p. My flight was at 8:27pm and I made my flight in LGA. Please explain :-
Zero for me. Very unprofessional. They find it funny when I ask for my money back in your account and that they should charge me for insurance for a week when I only wanted it for a day, as I was told by the dealership. They were very rude even to the person from the main office. Spoke with manager B.... very nasty person. Guess he would have been nicer if it I were a man.
I was really bummed out...until Nick and his wonderful team really pulled out all the stops when helping me with my rental. They did everything they could to make me happy. There was no such this as No in there vocabulary. I had been rear ended prior and my car was gonna be in the repair shop for at least two weeks so North Star Collision-Lymbrook (also really great service) hooked me up with Nick. Not only did they arrange to pick me up from the body shop but he got me into a great rental car, 2016 RAV4 !! The car offered at first was too small for me and my family but Nick and his team really worked hard to find me a good car so I was happy. I had to pay a little bit more but I was very happy with what I ended up with.They really hit a homerun with me. I enjoyed the car so much that I almost didnt wanna go get mine back lol. Even the return was easy and hassle free the body shop called and they sent a guy over to get the car. Outstanding!! I was blown away by how well the two companies worked it out for me. I highly recommend using Hertz to anyone looking for a rental. Thanks again to Nick!!
Worst Customer Service. I recently called about a pick up and drop off to Rockville Centre and they told me NO, but they were willing to go to Valley Stream. My house is 10 minutes from their location. Then one of the gentlemen co-workers refused to give me a manager name and number and hung up on me. He told me before the manager wasn’t in so I decided to call back and then all of a sudden a manger was available. I never got the gentlemen’s name because he refused to give it to me, but the manager is Danelly. I’m a gold member and rent from Hertz all the time and I should have never been treated like that.
Worst car rental experience. Rented from hertz in Lynbrook, nygave me a midsize car which I didnt reserve. I reserved the compact car. Rented a car with bad brakes, bad tire which blew out on me on the highway, front bumper kept coming off. Would not recommend this company. and because of the tire blowing out I was delayed returning the car which they charged me for.
Do not rent from here. I made a reservation over 2 weeks in advance for a pickup truck and then made other plans based on the reservation. When I arrived they said they had no pickups. I received no call or e-mail and they made no attempt to get one from another location when I arrived. Terrible experience.
The worst service ever, Employees very unprofessional, office is dirty , the car was dirty the car should not be rented before checked out by a mechanic. I had to return it even though I needed it for 20days. But the worst of it all the low energy of staff. I left and went to another Hertz on Jericho turnpike they were so professional and friendly.

2022-01-11Rented a full size car on Saturday for the weekend. Worse car ever! Suppose to come with full tank and the second I drove off the lot it was below the F line. The car stunk of weed not to mention a loud noise from the back wheels if I went over 50. Wipers were so bad that I almost stopped by auto zone to replace them cause I couldn’t see anything in the rain. Lastly the car inside and out was not cleaned or washed. I know it wasn’t cleaned because the previous renters car rental agreement was still in the hand rest. Bad experience !

2022-05-19Booked my car at 11:30. Picked up by 1. Got it in 20 minutes. Amazing people. Great service. So far so Great. So far I would give them 10 stars. Professional. They do have many people still in training. And I could tell they are trying their best to do what they can. And I appreciate it sooo much.

2022-06-07Horrible rented a car there told them I’ll be heading to Pennsylvania I needed the toll pass they told me It’s in every car and it’s fine drove to PA toll pass wasn’t working called Hertz told them it wasn’t working told me it was ok it would be billed to hertz ok cool 3 weeks later i get billed for $217 dollars never renting from hertz again Budget & Avis on 55 sunrise Highway is way better and take care of their customers

2021-08-27This is the worst Hertz locations, they try to steal your money by making up lies to charge you extra fees. I rented a car for 2 days, brought it back expecting to rent again, one of the agents told me it smelled like smoked in which I don’t smoke. I was then told to take it to get detailed or pay 400 extra dollars. I was then badgered and belittled, told to speak up “because they were doing me a favor”. Then told “you do smoke”. Sasha refused to help me and had another agent come along, both women were extremely confrontational and combative. I was shocked and very uncomfortable. They wouldn’t allow me to switch the car after I stated that it felt unsafe while driving. Please stay away from this place.

2021-06-28They gave me a nice late model vehicle. Only issue is that it was dirty. This location use to wash the car before turning over to customer. This time I paid for my own wash. They refused to Crédit me at the end though.

2019-10-28Busy place with body shops down the block however, usually on 4 occasion only 1 person assisting customers, so dont assume your gold membership will get you out fast

2020-10-02Super expensive, when i called to give a coupon code for 10 % off i was told that I could only use it when I rented car? Nowhere in the coupon did it say that! The car was dirty i called 1hr before I got there to make sure vehicle was available since I booked online and it didnt say anywhere enter coupon here When I arrived to the location there was no one in the reception. I called the location # and the guy said that he was alone and had to clean the car on the inside himself but the outside had bird poop and not washed. When putting $100 deposit additional to the $700 i got charge for 5 days. The employee mentioned not to worry about additional charge that the total would post after car is returned. I returned car on time although they were closed i was instructed to park car and leave key in box. I did so and I called the next day bc there were 3 different charges pended and wanted to know how to apply coupon since it was not an option when booking online. I spoke with Tye? He said he couldnt do anything about that and to diresgard 3 different pending charges. Not very comforting when all 3 charges added to like 2000 dollars. I requested to speak with the owner because he didnt understand that I had all rights to use 10% off coupon especially since I returned the car just as I rented, maybe cleaner! He gave me an 800 number who said I should speak with location because there system showed some discrepancy also. At this point I dont feel like talking to Tye who refused to help or put owner on the phone for better customer service! Last time I rent through hertz . I hope my review informs others of their lack of doing thing as advertised. If the coupon say 10% off for any rental of 4 days or more and the online booking doesnt give you option to enter and their employee refuses to inform the owner instead throws the 1800 number? I will make sure geico my car insurance knows not to refer customers to this location money hungry and cant even have car clean and on time as scheduled for 9am it was already 10 before I was handed the key and was late to work. Wish I could post picture of the coupon.
