Points earned with their card are not always rewarded. When Iasked for my point value to be credited on a bill they accidentally made the bill greater and couldnt understand why that was wrong. Not a good experience.
I got out of work late Saturday night but my husband and I promised the kids we would get a tree. So we loaded our 5 children up and headed to Hewitts which is where we usually buy our tree every year. We got out of the car and entered their xmas tree area to start to find our perfect tree at about 6:50..... and one of the guys who usually trims the trees says..... You know we close at 7 right? and I replied..... no, but what time is it? .... and he said close to that . So he was giving me and my family the not so subtle hint that they didnt want us there and to leave. Anyone knows that its hard enough to pack up 5 kids to go anywhere but its extremely rude and unbusinesslike to ask a client to leave before closing time. I work for a small business and I would never kick a client out of our store if it was close to closing time.... we wouldnt even kick someone out if it was past closing time if they arrived before closing time. Needless to say we ended up going to Devoes across the street the next day. I bought 2 trees. They were extremely courteous and their prices were much better than Hewitts.....
Christmas tree prices are criminal at Hewitts. For 8-10 ft tree, they are charging $119. For 10-12 ft tree, they are charging $199. Yes, that is not a typo, almost $200 for a christmas tree. After seeing those prices, traveled about 25 minutes to Bobs Trees in Galway and found a beautiful freshly pre-cut 12 foot frazier fur tree on their lot for $80. And the tree at Bobs was a fresh cut tree. The trees at Hewitts came in on a tractor trailer and were probably cut weeks ago. No brainer. Go to Bobs or some other farm and support our local businesses. AND SAVE MONEY !!!!
Came here Monday morning for a Christmas tree. It’s $69 for a 6-9’ tree, so y’all aren’t surprised. I’m not a Christmas person, so yes it’s insane, but that’s THE PRICE, so don’t complain now that you know. The gentleman who cut the bottom for us was very polite—helped us get ours on top of our two door jeep. No mask on outside, but what can you do—YOURE GOING OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF PEAK PANDEMIC SEASON FOR A TREE. TO PUT INSIDE YOUR HOUSE. Hope for the best. Stay inside, quarantine. Keep your kids home if you can. The daycares have had COVID outbreaks among their staff—who knows if they’re alerting the parents. Could be getting it from the kids for all we know. It’s aight though because Trump is going to get that miracle cure in the next couple weeks around the end of October I was promised. I’m getting off topic—this is what happens when you get up Monday morning to pay seventy bucks for a tree.Long story short, dude helped us with the tree a bunch, no one was there which made the experience great. Tree is $69. Merry Christmas.
My wife and I have gone here for Christmas trees for several years. We usually bring the pup since it’s outdoors. We went today to pick up flowers and I was approached by an employee who was down right rude. I was in the outdoor area while my wife was choosing flowers when he approached me and said ‘I don’t know who you think you are bringing a dog here pal.’ I was confused since it’s never been an issue before. I even said I’m sorry I didn’t realize it was an issue since it has never been in the last. He responded with ‘well what kind of a person thinks he can just bring his dog?’ I responded by saying don’t worry we are leaving, I won’t be spending any money here. I’m all about spending money local but not if you’re rude. If you all of a sudden don’t allow dogs then just say ‘hey we don’t allow dogs.’ Very unnecessary interaction. Also the pansies and other full sun flowers looked dead.
April was extremely helpful in helping me find a plant for my terrarium.
The full-time staff is very knowledgeable and quite personable. They always seem to take a moment out of their busy day to answer questions and give advice. The plant selection is awesome. Their guarantee on shrubs and trees cant be beat.
Love Hewitts , they have beautiful flowers. Bought 8 double knockout rose bushes there .
Great place to shop for real and artificial Christmas trees,perfect ornaments and very helpful and patient sales associates.It is a great place to shop throughout the year with so many flowers and plants and pumpkins in the fall .
They sell an amazing amount of plants and gardening supplies. I went in for blueberries and the ones available were pretty sad compared to another competitor, but Hewitts had the best prices for the mulch and other necessities.
A bit pricey camera but all plants are well cared for. Workers are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Go to Home Depot or Lowes uncared for high-volume plants. Go to Hewitts if you want plants that will survive.
Had what I needed at a reasonable price.
No complaints, they have just about everything I need. Some prices may be a little high, but its good stuff...and some prices are lower than the local home center chains for equivalent or better items. Recommended.

This is the best place to get all your garden supplies and plants. Good service and had lots of supplies and your can use get a coupon card to check off and get more discounts.

2021-05-23In the 2 years since weve owned a house in the area, weve enjoyed shopping here for the good selections and decent prices. Yesterdays trip turned out a little sour. My wife found a couple of hydrangeas she liked that were marked $19.98 on their individual tags, but the nearby store employee insisted they were $25, pointed to a Hewitts sign near the cluster of hydrangeas and said he couldnt mark them down. When we pointed out the discrepancy to the cashier, she told us there was nothing she could do, that they would cost the $25 the employee had marked on a slip of paper. When my wife found the assistant manager, he also told her they were $25, regardless of what their individual tags said. This doesnt seem right. When I was in retail and something was incorrectly priced lower than we meant, I was taught to immediately apologize, sell the item for the lower price and see that someone changed the tags or signage to match the price we intended. No apologies, no explanation from Hewitts. :-(

Im not basing this review on just one bad experience, Im rating this on extremely poor customer service and NOT HONORING their Lifetime Guarantee!!Scenario: my husband and I have purchased our mothers Mothers day gifts from Hewitts for the past 7 yrs. Last year we both purchased azaleas for our moms. My mom (an avid gardener) uncovered her azalea this spring and it was an obvious loss. We kept our green receipt, we were told to keep. Brought the green receipt in and was told by the rude older woman at the register, Wheres your sales receipt, we need the sales receipt that was attached to this slip - we need it or you cant return it.Clearly, there was never anything attached to this slip so I showed her that indeed nothing was ever attached. She shrugged her shoulders and said, sorry maam but we cannot take it back.Its not even about the $39.99 azalea. This is about poor customer service and offering a service that has multiple strings attached. The fact that she talked to me as if I was trying to pull a fast one was icing on the cake.Hewitts, you have lost 4 customers now - my husband, myself and our mothers.Truth be told, I would have fully understood being out the warranty had that wretched woman talked to me nicely instead of immediately going into battle mode.Should you want to educate your employee - I can provide my full receipt transaction from today 5/8/21.

2021-04-19Ive been coming here for years to get my mom a big hanging basket for Mothers Day. They always last all season! This year, Ive been getting into gardening and the staff has been great about answering my questions and directing me to sources of more in-depth information. Plus, they have the kind of organic soil / fertilizer I was looking for, as well as heirloom seeds

2019-04-20Oh terrible they use a different photo for their easter egg hunt. The time also states 1pm to 2pm. I was parking my truck at 1:06pm and basically got inside 1:10 pm fpr the egg hunt and the said its already done.So think of the time 1pm to 2pm means 1pm you should be done and on your way out by 1:10pm theres no more. All kids exit.Just additional information for others looking for egg hunt for their kids. Their add for egg hunt is wrong i think its not 1pm to 2pm.

2020-05-21Ive always loved Hewitts. The selection and prices are always good. I was a bit nervous about social distancing while in such tight spaces, but the Hewitts has done well reorganizing the layout and all the customers were wearing masks and being courteous. The staff are helpful and used every precaution available, this made me feel very safe. I appreciate that they have curbside service as well. I will continue to use this local Garden center to keep my garden looking beautiful. Thanks Hewitts.

2019-02-04I love it at Hewitts! They are friendly, professional, and have a great selection! One of the women working there (possibly an owner or manager) helped me re-pot a special family heirloom plant; and while doing so, gave me so many great tips and suggestions. I highly recommend this shop for all of your gardening and houseplant needs!
