I usually go in with a group of friends and everything goes smoothly but when you go in just with yourself and one other person your not important. We were waiting for 40mins out of the 1hr20mins we stayed there (we bought $100+ of mtg cards with drinks and played to pass the time. Not knowing it would take this long) for 2 sides which never came even though the “order was in”. And while waiting in line to get my card back. The two people near the cooking ovens where just talking. Doesn’t seem like they where busy at all.Go here for drinks and games, not for service or food.
I like the store, but there was the sassy dude with long hair that made me feel very unwelcomed. After I told him I was from the Bronx, he was using slang/ebonics with me in a very condescending tone. They also charged my full price for half a glass of wine because they ran out. It could have been the other location dont remember, its the one with the bar on the right side of the store near as opposed to the left in the other location.
The UES branch of this bar has a huge array of board games, a $10 cover, and a simple menu of finger food. The games are organized by number of players and depth of strategy, which makes finding particular titles challenging since the shelves dont seem to be alphabetized or otherwise sorted within categories.
Love this place! Stumbled upon it today while walking around the neighborhood. Stopped in & bought a quick game. The bartender recommended a beer & cocktail which were *fantastic*. Servers were very strict on COVID-19 protocol which we very much appreciated. Had the cauliflower bahn mi which was flavorful. 12/10 recommend to others if you want some good drinks & tasty food at a good price. Added to our favorites list!
I really love this place a lot. I went there yesterday looking for a late night coffee place and came across hex. The moment I walked in I was taken aback by all the boardgames they have on display, and for sale! It was nice to see people play board games that late at night. I was even tempted to pick one up myself and start playing. Definitely going back. Recommended.
This is seriously an excellent board game cafe. For $10 per person you get all you can play boardgames (that you can borrow or bring your own) and table space. We did Dungeons and Dragons (brought our own, not sure if they have) and our DM got the table fee waived and free food for hosting us! They also have drinks which made the session interesting
A great board game cafe in NYC! For NY where space is tight, Hex & Company has a decent amount of space and tables. The environment is cozy and they have a great selection of board games! To note:- $10 cover fee for walk in- $15 cover fee to make reservations- Food isn’t restaurant high quality, but it contributes to the cozy and casual vibes of a board game cafe, which I appreciate.- Background music was nice. It wasn’t distracting and it added to the nice vibes.Staff is friendly!Overall, it’s a great place to come with a group of friends for a fun game night.
I wish I had known about this place before the pandemic. All the games you would ever want to play or purchase, incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Nice selection of drinks and bites, though of course I couldnt sample any of it right now. In the before times it must have been so fun to play a game of Catan or MTG here with friends, sipping on an IPA... I just really hope they can stay afloat til that can happen again.
Went on a Saturday night to play D&D. It was crowded with a friendly atmosphere. The staff is excellent and probably a big reason for the atmosphere. The customers appeared to be a mix of families, college students, and adults. The food is very good with prices typical of the area. The Brooklyn Roast coffee is excellent.
We had a reservation for a friends birthday party here. They were extremely accommodating and welcoming, and they let us know to ask if we had any questions about the games. The food was tasty, and when my friends order was undercooked, they promptly took it back, prepared a new one, and issued a refund. There were plenty of games and our large group had a great time.
This place is delightful!! Really good food, not crazy pricey and good portions; wonderful staff; lots of space for you and your friends so you can bring a big group; ENDLESS games; and super clean. A highlight of the night as well: they have metal & paper straws only and lots of places to recycle :) I loved it! Ill definitely come back!
Starting out at $40 for a family of 4 before food/drinks, it is a pricey start point to play Life or Scrabble! Strange set up with having to get up and order from counter, but have servers walking around carrying a drink or a sandwich thru the room asking who ordered nachos? Place noisy with everyone busy playing games. Short on menus. Great games & beers. Nice staff. Good sandwiches and bad pizza. Strange experience.

2022-01-09An only one-of-its-kind board game cafe in the upper east side and super affordable. You can spend hours of happy, device-free time here discovering new games or playing your favorites. You’ll find multiple of everything from Catan and Sequence and Battleship to obscure games like “Marrying Mr. Darcy.” 😛Vibe is very nice and fun.. staff is super cool and helpful.Menu has more food options than the details available on Google — and the food is good for a and they have beers on tap as well.PRO TIP: Bring your layers because the place has so many people coming and going constantly, it gets chilly even inside!

2022-02-02This place is a great game board cafe! ☕ Hex & Co has an incredible collection of board games 🎲 and card games 🃏 that you can play for $10 per person. They also have a fantastic selection of coffee, tea🍵, drinks 🥤, beers 🍺, and cocktails 🍹! They also serve snacks 🥨, pastries 🥐, and desserts 🍮 (on hexagon-shaped plates, living up to the name!). The staff is super nice and the place has a great ambience 🎶! I wish I came here earlier!

2022-06-09Pretty dope, they recently moved venues, really dope spot, spacious but homey, excellent vibes, diverse clientele, awesome beer selection, nice snacks. We rented a table for $15, apparently we can stay for as long as we want, we were there for about three-ish hours. All the walls are stacked with board games to play.Cool options in the shop.

2021-10-05My boyfriend brought me here cause this is where he spends most of his time with friends, and it was such a fun experience. So many games to choose from, new and old. The vibe was fun and chill. The selection of food was regular. But not bad. And who doesn’t like drinking a good Delirium while playing some board games with friends!

2021-12-24Fun! Fun! Fun. They have any board game you can think of. Many I never heard of! Cool atmosphere and they make a mean old fashioned. You can order food and drinks while you play. We played Scrabble and Yahtzee. 10 bucks a person. Hex is located at 1462 1st. ( one the corner 1st Ave and 76 St) in NYC.

2021-10-30The whole crew on staff is awesome. The selection of games you have at your disposal is… innumerable. You will find something to play and enjoy, even if you have to fish for a while. The games are categorized by the store, so if you’re looking for two player games for example, they are clearly marked in a specific area. They offer finger food and some other small plates. Drinks are a good selection for a gaming environment, can’t go wrong with a few glasses of wine. The seating arrangements are excellent in my opinion, you aren’t squished into other groups and everyone there was having what seemed like a great time enjoying the games with their friends/families company. They also have a really good selection of games for sale! I ended up playing and buying Odin’s Raven which is a faster paced two player game, which was a recommendation from the staff. Unfortunately I forgot the staff members name, but he welcomed us warmly as first timers and helped us with everything during our stay.Overall, will return soon to try more games and recommend this location to anyone.

2022-06-04I went there with my best friend two months ago and it was the best experience that I’ve ever had. There’s so many varieties of board games, card games and etc. Great place to hangout with your friends or to relax meanwhile reading or just drinking your coffee/tea whatever. They’re food and drinks are also a plus! :)

2021-12-03Relatively good selection of games to try out for $10 a person. Staff will typically be happy to quickly go over or teach you how to play a game. Tea and appetizer selection is good. The outdoor seating area is heated very well, but it absolutely needs better windproofing to stop sudden gusts of wind from sending cards flying away.
