The cutest little store in downtown Afton! Every time I come into town I have to stop in and get my candle fix. :) So many different varieties of candles - all homemade! Great antiques and so many cool things. They are constantly getting new things in from furniture and decor to shirts and food items! Owners are SO friendly, sweet as can be and super helpful. A must see in Afton!
Love this store. We buy a majority of our candles for home from Hickory and Doc. The staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful. I always find something I love. We stop every Christmas after cutting our tree down at Baxters. And various other times throughout the year. They have something for every season.
My bestie&I stopped in on the way home from Frog Pond, and boy were we impressed! Owners were the most friendly,professional,generous people to everyone there including us, and their selection of goods is impeccable! So many beautiful things,with their history explained, questions answered, stories traded, it was just such a wonderful experience! So glad we found it, cant wait to return, would highly recommend! PS. Melissa Matthews should be ashamed of herself for being so rotten in her scathing, vindictive review-fact!
If youre traveling through town, this shop is worth a stop! Cute antique shop with homemade soy based candles. The candles come in a great variety of scents, and are very well priced. Check it out!
Was there again yesterday. A must stop in Afton, NY. I can’t say enough about the owner Chris Kehoe. I am a diabetic and my sugar was going way too low. Mr. Kehoe had me sit and fed me soda from his personal stash until I recovered. We chatted about his love for his business and the different finds he has gotten over the years. The ladies who were in line ahead of me were repeat customers and I can definitely see why. The prices are extremely reasonable and he has unique items to choose from. Need I say, I always find items to bring home. I had heard that a women named Melissa Matthews was trash talking Hickory &Doc. All I have to say to her is WHY? I think maybe sour grapes on her part. This man is the most generous and kind person I have met in years. He cares deeply about his customers and I tell everyone I know to shop here. If you’re looking for a specific item, give them a call. If they don’t have it he will definitely do what he can to find it for you.Check this store out… I guarantee… you won’t be disappointed!!! And while you’re in town… there’s a 5 ⭐️ Main Street Grill and Bakery across the street. ALWAYS delicious and consistent…with homemade desserts. Come to Afton, NY. You’ll be glad you did!
What an awesome shop in the center of Afton, so many unique and beautiful items to choose from. Soy candles, furniture, antiques, very affordable and a place you can spend some time looking at all of the items they carry, it’s worth a stop right off of exit 7 on Rt 88. You won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait to stop in again to see what new-old things they get in!!
Hoosiers traveling thru Upstate NY, visited this quaint place along the way!! Fantastic and unique, and reasonably priced gifts and antiques and treasures! Owners are very personable and helpful ! THIS - is how ya do it! Next time we travel thru - we will stop again!

2022-06-11Stopped in here for the first time, today… definitely will not be the last.The original brick walls and vintage wood give this place the perfect vibe.It is an amazing mix of antiques, decor, textiles and even some great T-shirts and hats.We left with three Hickory &Doc hand poured candles and 2 containers of delicious spice blends.I have been burning the candle (coffee scent) for the last 2 hours and the smellIs incredible and it a Soy candleSo the burn is great..None of the candles have colors added, so the creamy white goes with the decor in any room.I will certainly be making regular trips to Afton…. I may need to bring a truck for the candles alone.

2021-08-13My daughter and I stopped into Hickory and Doc on a whim today and I am so glad we did! The owner was so helpful and friendly! He helped my daughter find boxes to paint for her crafts and sold them to her for just a few dollars. He talked about his products and introduced us to all the unique gifts, paintings, food and coffee that he sells. I left there today with one of his candles and it smells so much better than my Yankee candles! I also bought a decorative pumpkin for my desk and country canisters for my kitchen. Such a variety of merchandise combined with the friendliness and charm of the small town owner, well definitely be back again! Loved this store and we enjoyed visiting with him! 5+ stars! 😊

2021-07-01Huge fan - we will be back!!! Being an advocate of supporting small local businesses, combined with our love of antiquing, we absolutely adore and love this quaint shop of Hickory & Doc. The decor is exquisite and tastefully done - timeless - giving us a few ideas of our own! Staff was well informed of products, cheerfully courteous, pleasantly conversational, and helpful with other local business recommendations. If you are in search of unique or well crafted gifts which buys and supports other small businesses in the area, this is the place!! Love!P.S. Soy melts sold here for warmers are 100% natural

2021-09-17Absolutely LOVE this place. Visited with my Mom and friend Malaine. Throughout the store you could hear the three of us saying oh this is adorable, look at this, I have to get this, or this is perfect. The store owner Chris, is full of knowledge so kind. They make their own all natural soy candles. One of the melts I purchased is Blood Orange, it smells amazing!! So looking forward to our next visit.Thanks Chris

2021-07-07I was visiting a friend in town and decided to stop in this cute Antique shop off Main St.Chris was so friendly and helpful.The soy candles are 100% soy with cotton wicks and smell absolutely amazing! Which was wonderful since most of the soy candles I have found have too light of a scent. Not these candles- they had the perfect strength of scent and a great variety.I got the Pineapple Sage.

2021-07-01I am not too sure what this Melissa Matthews is talking about other than petty gossip, unprofessionalism, rudeness and lack of being part of a community on her part. This is a HIGHLY recommended store with AWESOME and polite owners who make you feel welcome and has THE BEST coffee and candles. I have bought SEVERAL of their candles and wax melts and have never had a problem with them as they are all natural. Their coffee is amazing as well as their products. I have shared their store with many respected country home pages and everyone LOVES them. Everyone that I have sent there has rave reviews to say about them and their prices are reasonable and the antiques they carry are very unique and one of a kind. When you walk in they make you feel comfortable and welcomed and at home. They have never talked bad about anyone in the town and always have nice things to say about everyone and in general as they are professional, courteous and respectful to their customers.

2021-07-03I love this little shop! My family only buys candles from them, they smell amazing and last FOREVER. I never have issues with the melts - all candles and products are of great quality! The owners are so kind and helpful. Love it here!

From country chic to old school country amongst many other things that are rare finds with prices that are VERY reasonable. Cant wait to come back! Thank you, Chris for being so kind and helpful!
