Hide-Chan is my new gold standard for Ramen in Manhattan. Perfectly cooked wavy noodles. Ive had many spicy misos in my day and this tastes like the most potent and fresh miso flavor Ive had in a ramen, as well as some of the most complex pork broth Ive tasted. Im quite impressed. Highly recommend!
My friend came across this great Groupon voucher for Hide-Chan Ramen and tonight we redeemed it!This place has a nice outdoor seating area with plenty of room. Staff is very friendly and we enjoyed the food. Especially the Edamame with garlic butter as an appetizer was amazing. All entrees were also delicious.Awesome deal, worth checking it out!
Got a dinner for 2 voucher from the Fever app. It was a great deal! I took my boyfriend there and he said the food was pretty good and would go back again. He’s a picky eater so this is a big deal haha. The customer service was great! I have no complaints about it. The little houses outside are nice too. Oh! If you pay in cash, it’s cheaper because you don’t have to pay the 3.5% service fee for using card.
My Mother and I had the beef ramen and it was wonderful, very nutritious and a low price considering the location and variety of food provided.I recommend this eatery if you want a softer environment to eat in compared to the chaotic environment in many restaraunts in the area.Staff was friendly, attentive, and patient when I got confused regarding the menu.
Ive never tried Hide-Chan before so when I saw a Pulsd deal for $29 for two ramens and a carafe of sake, we decided to check it out. It was also valid for takeout, so that was great. For the deal, you could pick a ramen or donburi up to $17. If the price is greater, you just pay the difference. You can pick between wavy or straight noodles. I picked straight and liked them better than the wavy ones my husband got.I ordered the Shrimp TanTanMen. The description mentioned a giant head on shrimp but its really just a regular head on shrimp. It definitely was not worth the few extra bucks I paid. The noodles also didnt do great in a 40-minute transport. They were all clumped together and it was hard to loosen up even after we poured the reheated broth over it. Hubby got the Spicy Miso and I like that broth better than the one I had. We also ordered the Ebi Fry, which was bland and tasted like were from the freezer aisle of a Costco.Im sure the ramen tastes much better dining in, so I would suggest that if you do want to check this place out. Im just glad I didnt pay full price.
Our second time here during our visits to NYC. We ordered Miso ramen and spicy garlic ramen. The mido was good the spicy garlic was ok, it was greasy. The waiter was super nice, the outdoor seating is brilliant you have your own “cabin”. I recommend it overall and definitely coming back to try other dishes.
I really love its lunch menu, the ramen was very tasty, the miso soup base was delicious, the texture of the noodles was just perfect, you could choose different kinds of noodles here like flat noodles or wavy?! The lunch deal also includes a plate of sushi or Katsu curry rice along with the ramen, I felt very satisfied and full after eating and the price is very reasonable. The waiter is very polite and friendly. I would love to come again and it is one of the best Japanese restaurants that I had ever been to.
I tried the vegetarian ramen and was pleasantly surprised! The noodles are really good here, and the broth was savory. I wasn’t sure about the avocado when I received my bowl, but it actually tasted really good with the broth. Service was excellent; the staff was very attentive and polite.
The staff here was very friendly and also followed proper Covid-19 protocol. Our temperature was checked and we were given the option of sitting in or outside. I got the fried chicken as an appetizer and the spicy deluxe ramen for my main. No complaints at all definitely recommend!
Deliciously good Ramen. Nice spot recently celebrating their 1year anniversary.Great, friendly service. Laid back casual sort of place. They have a nice special of appetizers and sake. The food is good and healthy. They also serve beer. This place has handicapped accessible entrance and seating.
Great Japanese restaurant. The plates are delicious specially the Ramen with shrimp and pouched egg. They have a nice variety of beers and Saké. And a Saké tasting combo, really cool. The restaurant was clean, with a very cool ethnic decoration. The service was excellent. I recommend this spot.
Love their ramem, the broth is perfect and I couldnt have enough. The service staff is polite and on top of things, they will automatically fill your glass of water when its close to empty without you even asking. The place is quiet enough to have a decent conversation with someone across the table without raising your voice the slightest.
Ordered take out and the ramen tasted like 99c grocery store ramen, I ate a couple bites and threw it out. They also forgot to include any utensils and napkins and Im in a hotel so I had to call room service to bring me forks. Absoutely do not order this for take out. Pork bao bun was pretty good hence the 2 stars
My husband is a super fan of ramen and we were so excited to have Hide Chan Ramen which was a famous brand of HAKATA RAMEN in Japan.Hide Chan Ramen serves Tonkatsu (豚骨, pork bone) ramen, which is a thick broth made from boiling pork bones, fat, and collagen over high heat for hours. The broth was delicious and creamy with a hearty pork flavor. However, the price was kind of high with its portion and the ingredients weren’t a lot, so we did not feel satisfied at all after 2 bowls of Raman.
Recently opened branch of Michelin recommended Hide Chan ramen in Hells Kitchen. Good to be in a place that ask you to specify firmness of ramen noodles - you know they are a pro! Tonkatau soup base is super concentrate - a bit salty for my taste. Ingredients are very fresh (mushroom corn etc). The $3 fried rice side dish is not to be missed: perfectly made and balance.
The service was excellent. The staff is super attentive. The ramen was good. Not super good....but good. I live in NJ so I expected more than I shouldve possibly. The pricing was very reasonable. I went at lunch time. The lunch special is Ramen with a roll (I chose a salmon roll) for 16 dollars. I ordered miso ramen, and paid extra for extra egg and pork. The egg in my soup was cold, but nothing a quick tuck underneath the broth couldnt fix. The broth was bland but the meat was super flavorful. Solid three stars. Not a restaurant I would seek out...but definitely one I would return to if I happened to be in the area.
Although recently open, this ramen shop is in my opinion just as good as the neighboring popular and line happy ippudo and Toto ramen. Frankly ramen is ramen and this place does it just as good in my opinion. They also have happy hour. Appetizers (eg, gyoza) are pretty good and there is a large selection of sake. Mega ramen is recommended and has everything!
We had the recommended and classic (spicy). Since we were there at 5:30 we got to eat pretty takoyaki and cocktails. The cocktails were cheap, so can’t really complain. I would suggest getting the spicy sauce on the side, even with my pretty good tolerance to spicy I was crying and sniffling.
This is the real deal. I can say definitively that the classic ramen at Hide-chan is as good as Ive ever had. Of all the ramen Ive had, this ranks right up there with the best. The broth is the star of the show; soup has no business being this tasty. The other ingredients round out a delicious - perfectly cooked noodles, crunchy mushrooms, incredibly flavorful pork, and a soft boiled egg with a creamy yolk, not to mention plenty of green onion for brightness. Also, a bowl of this ramen and a side for $16 is a really good lunch special. You might not even need dinner with how filling it is, but you may need a nap. The service was also excellent, and the karaage was awesome.Come here. You wont regret it.
Wait staff was kind and timely. They put up with me, a very picky eater with dietary restrictions, and didn’t make a fuss about it at all. I ordered a classic ramen and had them just about take everything out and substitute different things (wavy ramen noodles, shrimp, garlic chips). I usually feel judged and criticized when I ask for alterations at non-American cuisine restaurants, but they didn’t make me feel embarrassed at all. First time having real ramen, so I have nothing to compare it to, but it was really good; and like I said, I’m a huge picky eater. I am, however a big calamari fan and their deep fried squid legs were some of the best I’ve had
Honestly a solid bowl of ramen, I saw people complain that the spicy garlic ramen can be oily but honestly just get the spicy garlic sauce on the side and add as much as you please, I didnt see the any real downfall for the ramen, the kaarage (Japanese fried chicken) I had was delicious huge pieces of thighs which I appreciate my only criticism is that maybe if the pieces were more uninformed it would have had a better coating of batter on the chicken, taste was on point, I can definitely order basket after basket of kaarage and beer, also such kind staff
One of the best ramen restaurants I’ve been near Hell’s Kitchen... warm and cosy place and the service is so kind and sweet... every single one of them... the food was incredible there... we had as Appetizers the seaweed, fried rice which was incredible and the takoyaki bites... I was so satisfied with everything... also for the main I ordered a deluxe ramen and a shrimp ramen... deluxe ramen was so tasty and everything was fresh and warm... our order came out very fast and I was satisfied 100%... it worths to go there totally... you won’t regret it...
Great place to go if you like your broth thick. Same level of service and same taste as the east side location. I went with the usual miso ramen. The takoyaki is also an excellent appetizer. Highly recommend it. One difference from the other location is that the menu doesn’t give you an option for how firm you like your noodles. However, I specified my preference to the waitress and it was perfect.
Good ramen.Good ramen is ok but the race is on in nyc to have GREAT ramen. I started off with spicey fried squid. It should just be called fried squid because it was not 1 bit spicey. The ramen was fine. Not amazing. I had deluxe pork ramen. What i hate about asian soups are that the ingredients are cooked separately. So therefore the half boiled eggs where cold. The pork was cold. Overall an ok experience. Cute setup though. I felt like i was in Japan.
Service is nice but extremely slow, we waited forever for the waitress to take the order and then forever to the food, which had some mistakes in it.The ramen was definitely the worst I had eaten in usa so far (and we tried many). The soup tasted like tasteless chicken broth from powder more then a ramen. Really bad.
The food is delicious, 5 Stars, however they always mess up with orderings. It’s the 2nd time they forget about my order in 6 time I have been here. This time I see everyone arrived after me already eating and after 30 minutes I am still waiting for my food.I decided to cancel the order and go away!So upset 🤬🤬🤬They offered me $5 voucher but charged the drink, not coming back here ever againThe food is too good here.Gave them a second chance and they didn’t disappoint. The waitress remembered me and gave me a big discount. No question about the food, 5 stars!
First time having Ramen at a restaurant. I had gotten a spicy one and it wasnt spicy. Thai iced tea is ok. We also had the spring rolls and these dumpling like appetizers which was the best part of the meal. The lady who helped set the table with us seemed to have an attitude and the girl who was taking our order was a little more friendly. I would say this might be worth going to for lunch but not dinner. I wouldnt go out of my way though to come here.
Lovely private outdoor seating. It is enclosed and has a heater. Also there are windows for ventilation Warm enough for me to be able to eat in my sweater while next to it. Food was amazing. I got two meals. One to eat and one to take home. Needless to say my carryout didnt make it far
The ramen was amazing. The broth was very flavorful with being overly salty. The noodles were cooked perfectly, there was so many different textures to add to the experience. The noodles were perfectly aldente, the crunch from the corn and the bamboo shoots, the creaminess of the fish eggs, the pork was cooked just right so it maintained its texture despite soaking in the broth, the eggs were great. It was just a great eating experience, a little difficult with the chopsticks but its all part of the experience.
Hide-Chan, which I utilized a Groupon for, is a quaint little sit down experience. The food was delicious and the ramen was top knotch especially for the price.I suggest the Nagori sake - it has kind of a lotion-y after taste but do not let that dissuade you as it packs quite a punch for a little cup.Servers were very polite, beautiful spirits and quick. I would definitely come here again.
Came by for a meal during pandemic times. We outdoor dined in one of their houses. As the night got colder, they brought in heaters. There was separators between each room. There was a window that was boarded up, but the door remained open for some air flow. The staff were super nice. The service was very good. It was a great experience. It was a great set up.The food/drinks:Deluxe Spicy Bowl - delicious and so good. great execution, deliciously rich broth and great noodle cookGyoza - delicious and a good portion size as wellSake flight - a great way to try sake and see which kinds suit your taste budsTLDR: was happy to be able to try the west side location and cant wait to go there again. the ramen is one of my favorites in the city.
Amazing appetizers and ramenI had the miso ramen as well as beef liver , and the next day I came back and had the spicy black garlic ramen With takoyakiIncredible service , waitresses pay very close attention , and the food is just incredible . May have to try the 53rd st location next .
I celebrated my graduation yesterday in this gorgeous place. I am glad to say that we enjoyed a awesome evening and the restaurant was clearly one of the reasons for the outstanding gathering. The waiters contributed in a sweet style, the cooking was great and my friends were so overjoyed. We shall definitely visit again for more events. Thank you very much.
Ive been to Tokyo, Ive been to London, Ive been all around the US, and Ive had ramen in each of these places. For the price that Hide-chan offers, this is a pretty good ramen spot not to pass up. Their broth was flavorful and the noodles soft. The egg i received seemed a bit hard boiled, but otherwise, it was delicious. I would go there again.
There was no wait when we came here for a weekday dinner. The service was really great. The fried chicken appetizer was freshly fried, at once crisp and chewy. The ramen broth was very flavorful, and the noodles were springy. However, the pork was only decent (I could have sworn it was frozen when I first scraped my chopsticks across it, but I didn’t want to bite into it then). All in all, not bad for a casual ramen experience.
My first and best experience with ramen I’ve ever had! The customer service is amazing and I felt comfortable the whole time with my girlfriend. The appetizers were delicious and ask for the Sauce that comes with the chicken I promise you’ll love it! The ramen jumbo shrimp ramen was amazing I promise you that!!!I’ll be BACK!!!!
My preferred ramen spot in New York. A much larger space than their other locations with a bar area. The tables are a bit close together but I’ve never had to wait for a table here. The service is quick and they’re also super nice. My usual order is a deluxe with wavy and firm noodles. The appetizers are all great, I’d highly suggest the karage (fried chicken). It usually comes out super hot and crispy. Always a great experience when I’m here!
Service was atrocious. They definitely had no idea how to run their front of house. I asked a lovely couple to move over at the bar so my friend and I could sit down. After sitting for two minutes a waiter came over and asked us to move so two people on the list for a table could have the seats I just freed up. In no restaurant on I’ve ever been in would something like this happen. The ramen was decent but in New York there are too many options to waste your time and money on a place that isn’t going to give you a pleasant dining experience. I won’t be back.
A place worth five stars as the menu is simple and very clear. My spicy broth was light and full of flavor. Just the right amount of noodles and pork in the dish to make it something that can be fixed Ed without feeling like I am about to explode. Good selection of sake and beer or just enjoy hot tea.
So much potential, but lacks the deep rich flavors experienced in real Japanese Ramen shops. Ramen was also cool, which on a cold afternoon is very disapointing. Service was great. Ambience was nice. Prices are high, but expected. Overall value is low. Over priced salty ramen. Broth needs a lot of work.
TLDR - In my opinion, the BEST ramen restaurant Ive tried in Hells Kitchen, a mecca for ramen.I have been on a quest to try as many ramen shops in NYC as I can, and so far on this journey, Hide-Chan Ramen is my number one. I stopped here for the lunch special and had the Bonito Dashi Ramen with a side of Chicken Katsu Curry. From portion size, to broth richness and flavor, to quality of the chashu, everything about this bowl of ramen was delicious!! The cherry on top was how good the chicken katsu curry over rice was on the side. For $18 (chicken katsu was $2 extra) + tax & tip, I was absolutely stuffed, something I dont often say coming out of ramen restaurants. The waitstaff was friendly, and the service was fast.On top of great food, Hide-Chan doesnt get the crowdedness as an Ippudo, Totto, or Ichiran. When I came during peak lunch hour, the restaurant only had some single diners like myself seated at the counter, and a few Japanese families in the tables. The atmosphere is perfect for small talk on a date, with some friends, or if you just want to enjoy a meal on your own. Definitely way more chill compared to Ippudo, and in my opinion, wayyyy better in flavor, price, and menu options.
I cant emphasize how refreshing it is to go to a ramen place in New York and not wait for forty minutes on a line or be rushed out the door. The food here is great to begin with (try the shrimp broth!) but its made so much better by the fact that four people can walk in, get seated, have a couple of beers, and make an evening of it. Great service, great food, great spot all around.
Ramen is supposedly very hot food, if Im right. Here, its not. The end. One more thing ...the servers keeps kicking and pushing your chair while eating. I counted until 10 times, and then gave up. Not exactly a pleasant dining experience. You will get westernized (?) cooled broth ramen in spoiled New York style. Food itself was good enough. Some improvements will do better.
I ordered the Pork Bun and the Classic Ramen.Pork Bun was prepared very well, but the flavor of the sauce wasnt to my liking. For the Classic Ramen, they let you pick the shape (curly or straight) and firmness (from soft to very firm) of the noodles. I picked curly/med and they were great. The pork was prepared well, the flavor of the ramen was good, but it was very salty (hence the missing 5th star). I believe this was an intentional choice, so it might be to others taste.Food was hot and fresh, service was quick and very friendly, and the price was decent. The restaurant was charming and clean.
Never been to this location... always go to the original on the East side. THIS IS A MISTAKE THAT I WONT MAKE AGAIN.I always get the Spicy black ramen. Its one if my favorite ramen bowls around the city. Unfortunately this location on the west side does not have the same grest flavor profile and taste as its east side brother. I was shocked and dissapointed as the spicy black flavoring tasted burnt and just aweful. Unfortunately i was hungry and quickly ate the noodles, egg, and pork. Leaving the tainted broth behind.I still love this ramen spot and reccomend it to many people. Unfortunately i will not go to the west side location again based upon my last visit. They are obviously cooking things the WRONG WAY.
This place was so nice! My boyfriend and I went here during our day trip to New York and the atmosphere was very comfortable. The happy hour specials were great, we got the fried chicken and split a miso ramen and it cost $28! Which is pretty good for a nice restaurant in the city imo. Would definitely come here again and I highly recommend it!
Great place, very good noodles. Love the open street-level front and authentic feel. Nice old hand-assembled sound system. One of my new favorite spots. So why only 3 stars? Its the DJ mix that comes out of that sound system! Its a basic dance track with a nonstop, unvarying, headache-inducing beat that goes on and on and on and on and on. Even worse, it pauses and some nice soul or jazz begins and you think, ah, finally some nice music. But it is only an interlude in the mix. Again, in comes the beat beat beat beat beat.... Dance music is for dancing. It does not add excitement to your meal and conversation. I really fail to understand the many restaurant owners who drive away customers with pounding sound tracks about as pleasant as a jackhammer. So bring earplugs and try to enjoy this otherwise great nook.
Another amazing ramen spot! This place has amazing lunch time specials! You get for 14$-15$ dollars a full bowl of ramen with a large side dish! Really hard to beat this deal! The noodles are delicious as well has the sides. The broth is flavorful and you will leave stuffed to the gills! I will be returning to this delicious ramen spot!
The space is larger than you expect. It extends around the corner to decent amount of private tables, while the front is comprised of a large food bar area and communal tables. When I first walked in, I thought the restaurant ended at the bar. The ramen was delicious. I had a pork based broth with pork slices while my partner had the vegetarian ramen. Not pork based and well done with fresh avocado, cauliflower, corn and much more. It was fresh and delicious. They have a 10 dollar pitcher of Sapporo for Happy Hr.
I had the spicy garlic ramen, which had a good level of heat and was very flavorful. The server recommended the straight thin noodles for this ramen. The broth was on the saltier side, but I expect that of ramen in general. I came around 8pm on a Saturday, and I was surprised by how quickly I was served.
This was my first time visiting this location! Loved the vibe here, there is a bar to hang out at or tables in the back for dine in. I first discovered this place when totto was so full and I need to satisfy my ramen craving. They have a great selection and an extensive menu compared to other ramen joints! Also came on a Friday night with zero issues getting seated!
The taste was ok. The waitress let me sit at the worst table when it was completely empty. They refused my request for a ramen and curry rice because the combination was not on their menu, even though I said I would pay extra. They were not flexible. It’s just ok, but no good points.
Not a competitive offering. Hide-chan is completely overshadowed by the many other excellent ramen restaurants in the area (e.g., Ichiran, Totto, Ippudo, Mentoku), and it doesnt distinguish itself in any way. The restaurant itself is larger so it might be preferable if youre dining with a group of people, but the food, service, and pricing are all blandly fine. Theres nothing bad about this place, but nothing great, either.Come here if youve got a real craving for ramen and cant stomach the waits (or walks) for better options. Otherwise, well... there definitely *are* better options.
This was the worst ramen Ive ever had. The pork buns were bad too. Save your self the pain of dishing out money for garbage and walk 2 blocks south to ippudo. The wait might be longer but the food doesnt suck.I gave 2 stars instead of 1 just because the staff here was actually very nice
I work near by and was in the mood for some ramen. There are actually a few more popular ramen shops around but it was peak lunch time (12:15pm), there were all at least an hour wait at least. I got the combo with classic pork based soup ramen and a side order of beef rice. The ramen and rice was both good, didnt disappoint.
Quick serve place. No BS. The seats and tables are very close to each other. The food is ok. Nothing stands out. Their business hours are longer than other similar ramen places in the city. It is a convenient place to have a quick bite when shopping in the neighborhood.
Hands down the best ramen i had so far in New York city and I tried many ramen places so far, i ordered the vegetable ramen and added a hard boiled egg with wavy noodle, the veggie broth was very flavorful, the noodles were smooth and had a very good taste, the soup included fresh vegetables that added crunch and color making it a filling meal, I couldn’t get over how good the flavors complemented each other and made such an incredible meal, our server was Noriko and provided us with very friendly and great service, if you are in the Manhattan area you must give this place a try, they provide private booths to provide more safety and tables are at least 6 feat apart making it a safe and comfortable dinning experience.
I had the pork broth ramen and it was better than the Hide-Chan on East 52nd St. However, still not the best ramen I’ve ever had and their gyoza was burnt. The staff, decor and ambiance were nice and they were very patient with us. Would only go back for the spicy pork ramen.
Good food and prompt service. However I was very disappointed that there was a ten minute wait for my friend’s ramen after they had brought mine. By the time my friend’s ramen arrived and we were ready to eat, my ramen had developed a film on the top. I hope you will find a way to make sure entrees go out at the same time.
We waited for 15 minutes to be seated and when we sat and started looking at the menu, the waitress moved us to the bar that was free since the beginning... We ordered 2 plates of sushi, we got the sushis we didn’t choose. They changed it and still got us the wrong plate. But they were good
I enjoyed Classic ramen for lunch. So I went back again to try Miso for 2nd time. It was terrible. The soup was luck warm, the noodles was just half cooked. There was no taste of miso at all. It was such a disappointing with $15 ramen. I don’t think I will ever go back again.
Nice place, me and my friend were looking for place to eat ramen and happen to pass by Hidechan. it was one of the best ramen I had, the place is not too crowded at times and there is enough space to move around it’s not congested. also the staff was very kind and served well will give 5 stars for this one.

2022-02-05Good variety of ramen, and pleasant vibe.I came here on a Friday evening, and although it was busy, I didnt have any trouble getting seated. The servers were very friendly, and helped provide some recommendations on the menu.Although the soup broth was on the saltier side, the beef was very well cooked, and the noodles were just at my preferred consistency. For the price, there wasnt much more I wouldve asked for.Overall I was happy with my experience, and would be happy to come back.

2022-04-12Surprisingly great (and well priced) mealso close to the chaos of Times Square. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, while the meat eaters will enjoy the Deluxe Ramen. Drink wise, check out the ‘Ms Hello Kitty’, refreshing and tasty

2022-07-28I love cold ramen year round and was happy to find more than one option here. I particularly liked that it had vegetables and almost seemed like a hybrid salad. The staff could not have been nicer, and there was plenty of comfortable seating. The inside is dark, more like a nightclub or evening vibe, but there is also a nice outdoor dining setup, at least right now.

2021-11-17Service was great and the food are tasty. Though the fried chicken was too greasy and the sashimi piece is somewhat mediocre. There is this giant ramen bowl challenge and I would def be interested to try out one day!

2022-08-01The spicy garlic ramen are very garlicky but delicious. Chashu and the other toppings were great. I only wish the egg yolk was a bit more runny.I was very positively surprised by the miso eggplant. The staff was also very nice and service was impeccable.

2022-01-17Really nice staff and quick service got this place a couple stars. Thats where the good news stops. The ramen (spicy garlic) was overly oily. The noodles were not high quality, and the flavor of the broth was good - not great. Ive had this type of ramen before, and todays did not meet my expectations.

2021-08-23This is definitely a ramen spot. I don’t recommend ordering anything else. We got the salmon roll and the poke bowl. The fish is not the freshest. The salmon roll was quite honestly pretty bad. I’ve had Chinese buffet sushi that tasted better than the sushi rolls they serve here.I had pretty high expectations with the “Michelin star” advertising. The ramen here was just ok, nothing to write home about and probably wouldn’t come back here, especially if I had to pay full price…

2022-01-14Tried hide chan for ramen and we had a good meal. We got the shrimp ramen and the popular tonkotsu broth pork ramen. Pork buns and sake tasting was an excellent add on.

2021-12-18For starters Im comparing it to Japanese noodles, so please take it with a pinch of salt. I think the pork is outstanding, it is grilled, it doesnt happen in Japan but they nailed it. What is not too good however, is the broth, I wish it tastes more like pork. I had the deluxe. Overall, I think its quite good.
