We ordered take-out, it was so good! Very tasty african food, pretty spicy though - if you dont like it hot, this place is maybe not for you. Even still, I recommend anyone to give it a try, simply because it was so damn tasty! Will order again, loved the jollof rice.
I ordered from here for the first time yesterday & I’m about to place another order right now ! Lol. This is THE BEST African food I’ve had & I’ve tried multiple places. It taste fresh , flavorful , the right amount of spice , good portion size for the price. I love this place !!! Thank you Hills Kitchen. You’re the bomb !
Not the best Jollof I ever had. It is very spicy otherwise i taste the tomato paste. I asked that the fish be put to the side but it came in the same dish as the rice. I dont like gravy on my rice and im just glad it wasnt all over. I probably wont be ordering again but the food wasnt horrible.
My son took me here. He was so full of praise for this restaurant because he always ordered through UberEat. It wasnt disappointing at all. The server, Promise, was very friendly and knowledgeable in what she does. I ordered Afang soup with pounded yam, Calabar style, it tasted just like my mama used to make in Calabar. The food was so good that I ordered 2 Egusi and jollof rice to go for my wife and children at home. They are very pleasant to deal with, I wasnt surprised to see lots of American whites eating in there because thats the place to eat real Nigerian food. Go there and you too will be convinced.
I found this gem and have not stopped coming! Theyre food is flavor-filled, bot many restaurants I can say that about. The spinach with the fish, excellent. Love, love, love, the jollof rice. I would recommend this place to any and all. But, dont take my word, I would suggest you simply give it try, you will not regret it!
Forgot food in my order then laughs and tries to be friends when u call to see Wht happened without offering any apology or effort to fix the problem. Scatter brain lady who answers will make jokes say order something else n we will send Wht was missed. The meat is hard and overly spiced where u can’t enjoy any other flavor. They claimed I had ordered the day before which I had never even had african food till now, I won’t be doing that again. Tasted like future diarrhea had to throw it out after try out bites. Only giving it a star so I can write this review. Disgusting all around.
This is the newest Nigerian Restaurant in the NYC area.I must say they are off to a great start! The restaurant was very clean nice and cozy (very good for dine in). They offer take home options also. The staff were very friendly, attentive and swift. (For a Nigerian restaurant the service was super quick).NOW THE FOOD: AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!they offer a vast variety of Nigerian cuisines especially the exotic soups and stews.I was very impressed with the food and the size portions were very decent (I couldnt finish my meal).Overall, Ill highly recommend anyone looking for good Nigerian food in the NYC area to visit!
Excellent customer service. Food is normally prepared swiftly and delivered promptly. Ive become a repeat customer for their authentic Nigerian beans. Today they went out of their way to fix an issue I had with an order and I really appreciate the service and efforts made to rectify it. I recommended them to my friend who has fallen in love with their beans too!
Firstly I ordered based on the amazing reviews everywhere. The moin moin was soggy and just bland. I threw that out.The buka stew was just not nice. The goat pepper soup was ayt, so was the afang even though it wasnt authentic afang made more so in an efo riro style/ vegetable and stew on the side type. I have never known afang to be made with stew or eaten with stew on the side.Pretty much my whole order was a waste and I was still hungry after it all.
I ordered an egusi soup.. and it was spoiled!! The smell was out this world when I open the food! I already knew when I taste it,it was going to taste exactly how it smelled. and it did!! I let others taste it to see if it was just me and it wasnt!! like as if they had it sitting there for days..
The Staff was extremely nice, ( and Handsome 😏)It was my first time there, I asked for recommendations & they guided me through what’s best on the menu! Also, who can’t resist a meat pie!? Food was very good, I made it into 2 meals because it’s so filling! I will be back, Definitely recommend!
I went here with my sister for African food and it was AMAZING! It reminded us of home, their staff is super nice and they are very clean. the gentleman who served us was super friendly! We even asked to see the lady who cooked it coz WOW! We defenetly recommend it. It defenetly felt like home away from home.
Very happy we learned about this fabulous restaurant that looks right onto a park. By chance, we arrived on the opening day and everything seemed to be working well. There are a number of menu choices, but our charming server, Favor, helped us pick the jollof rice with beef and plantains. We ordered it with a little extra spice and the heat was just right.Looking forward to our next visit to try some of the other choices. Nice addition to the neighborhood!
The food was absolutely delicious, service was attentive and swift. Everything we ate, we all had different fufu with stew (no jollof rice), tasted fresh. If you like your food spicy make sure to tell them so they can increase the heat. When we were there we were the only customers, but they didnt hover. All in all I would go back anytime.
Very warm and cozy ambience, friendly staff with excellent customer service. The food is value for money, well portioned for pricing which Is very affordable considering the very Original Nigerian cuisines served. Very great for that birthday party and or group hangout.
Fish pepper soup and jollof ..mad!🙏🏾💜Update: been back here probably more than a dozen times in the last 4 months, since my first visit. Food is still amazing!Jollof, moi moi, plaintain always the best picked it seems, fried rice, zobo.. all mad!And they should definitely charge more!🤤And promise is an angel! Love going to say hi
I loved the food and and service. The woman who served me and my partner gave me that west African woman look that they give to those of us born 400 years away from Africa ... you know the look ... that we should know... and we should!!! The food is strangely familiar and wonderfully new like the first time you heard Fela Kuti. She even sat a water bowl next to me and said you know what to do with this. There was no question in her voice...I hand to eat with my hand - the right hand of course!! I had the white soup with pounded yam and my Dominican partner had jolof rice with beef and plantains ( of course!!! --- Dominicans are undercover Africans ). That night I dreamed of the food - really. I did. But be careful it can be spicy in a way that is different than Mexican hot.. Like Felas music you need to give your body time to catch up with you soul. FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT visit before you order online and ask for a suggestion. Remember almost all the dishes have cured fish in it . its an essential spice like fish sauce in Thai food. Finally -The West African approach to beef is different from European and Asian cuisine. Its served with more texture ( some might call it tough) and very well done. Again like Felas music you need to give your body time to catch your soul.
I visited Hills Kitchen with a friend visiting from out of town. It was a quiet weekend afternoon. The proprietors/managers Promise and Hillary (the really athletic bloke) were exceptionally friendly. The food arrived right on time, and Hillary was happy to answer all questions about his spot. After handling the Egusi in house, me and my friend decided we had to each order a buncb of side dishes to go. The Egusi, pepper soup and Ukazi wherre on point.
Visited Hills kitchen on the new opening and the warm welcome and greeting I got made me feel really welcome the staff was polite and pleasant the food was delicious great Presentation and the style I would recommend Hills kitchen anytime come and join and have a great experience

2021-11-24The meat pie was very filling. I found the prices of drinks to be expensive. The food was good and the hostess was kind and friendly. The space is pretty small and can seat about 10 people. It gets pretty crowded when people are coming to order for pick up. So I will say it is not an ideal sit in to dine in place. I will recommend order out. The food prices are reasonable. I did not particularly enjoy the goat pepper soup as the meat was small chunks. The Rufus tasted good and the portion was great.

2022-05-23So basically, $17 For mostly rice and and a little bit of meat because there was more fat than meat BUT the rice was amazing, the flavors were great!!.....Service was terrible. After waiting so long to get napkins and a $2.50 can of soda, the lady was touching the screen with food on her hands and no gloves. Then I thought about it we basically finished majority of the food...Not meant for dining in

2022-07-26If you value your appetite and your money don’t even bother ordering from here. I waited over two hours for my food to be delivered and upon delivery my coleslaw was HOT because it was packed with hot food and my amala was WET sweaty and undercooked, I couldn’t even save it by putting it back on the stove or in the microwave. I called to let them know and they didn’t even seem to care, save yourself the headache.

2022-05-01Super small portion for soup only. Everything about this store is just small portions. THE GREEN PLACE is the best Nigerian restaurant in Brooklyn, and they give you 3 times the amount with better flavors

2022-04-07Chicken was old and dry, as were the plantains. Jollof rice was underwhelming. Paid for stew sauce on the side and was given about three tablespoons full. Everything was over salted. Have eaten a lot of African/Nigerian and love it so was looking forward to this, was really disappointed.

2021-07-22Best Nigerian food and best service in New York! I’ve tried many, namely Divine Flavored, Buka, Festac grill, etc, but none compares! Hills Kitchen are genuinely nice people, from the delicious food they make to the packaging instructions, they are stellar! I’ve been ordering for one year and not a day disappointed! I live in queens and they are the only Nigerian restaurant that delivers from Brooklyn to queens, which means they value their customers 💯 . All the other Nigerian restaurants located in Brooklyn don’t deliver to queens. You’ll always have a loyal customer in me!

2022-05-31If you haven’t had Nigerian food before, start here. The jollof rice & stew is my go to and then when I’m missing home for real, I order the fufu. (Pounded Yam with egusi, spinach or okra soup). 🍠 gold stars.

2021-07-29I ordered egusi soup and okra soup, they both came with fufu on the side, not a fan of the egusi didn’t smell or taste good but the okro was really good a lil too spicy for my taste but I liked that very much.

2019-03-04Was in the Bushwick area when I discovered this place and was pleasantly surprised to find an African restaurant in the area. Naturally I had to stop in for a bite. The service was wonderful, I didn’t have to wait too long for my food and the food itself was exquisite. Will definitely be coming back for more.
