Hilton Garden Inn New York Times Square South in New York
Just a little back info - I travel a lot, Ive stayed in more hotels than I can count. In NYC specifically, Ive stayed in 5 star down to cheapest place I could find out in Queens when I first visited at about 20 years old and OMG I should not have been staying there. My older self is just glad my younger self made it through those years of road trips to anywhere and everywhere with no plans.Anyway, I really liked my stay at this HGI. Location is great. Its in a pretty busy area but that means anything and everything you need is right there. Not in a cute residential part of the city where you will get a lot of charm, but its a fantastic home base. Being so close to Penn Station, you can get anywhere and everywhere easily.Room was clean, well laid out. Small, of course, but thats New York. Still bigger than some places Ive stayed in Europe and it had plenty of places to stash things and stay organized. Shower was nice and hot. No frills, but also no issues and I got a great deal on the room.Noise.. none. I was on the 21st floor and purposely picked the back side of the hotel. Its was very quiet. Also chose a corner room so there was only one room next to it. I heard the door close a couple of times but thats it. As long as your neighbors arent particularly loud, you should be good. Slept like a rock. Being that the hotel is tall and thin, there are only 8 rooms on each floor so no one is walking past your room in a hallway. That helps a ton with noise. There was not water or coffee in the room (there is a Keurig) but both are available downstairs. If you have a Kuerig, you can always throw your favorite pods in your luggage and bring them along. I got both for free but I am Diamond with Hilton so Ive not sure if they are complimentary for everyone. No on-site breakfast right now. Just some little things available in the shop but hey, its NYC. There are 100 places within 2 blocks that are better than just about any hotel breakfast out there. I got coffee and pastries at Bluestone Lane, if you like Dunkin or SB both are super close, there are multiple diners with fantastic full breakfasts, and I really love Liberty Bagel which is quite close. You can even order on their website and pick up right at the front door frim the nice man that handles all the takeout orders. Its was actually pretty nice to get some morning air and exercise while grabbing breakfast to bring back to the room each day.It was also my mothers birthday and I noted it on my check in. The hotel staff left some treats in the room for her and a nice card. That was really sweet of them.So for a good home base where you can get a hot shower and a good nights sleep, this HGI will do the trick. I would stay again. Im not a person who just hangs out in my room a lot - come on, youre in NYC, go out! So it was just what I needed.Oh, and a quick apology to the front desk agent who was there when I checked out. I realize I may have been a little snippy about the car service. I was just frazzled. Im used to traveling alone for work and my companion was really ready to go and refusing to get on the train like I would if I was alone so we were having a little moment. Sorry about that!
The staff blatantly lied to my face and nobody wants to acknowledge, apologize or rectify the issue.Ishmael checked me in around 8pm on a Sunday. I went to the room and found that I was placed in a handicap accessible room. I went downstairs and asked Ishmael why I was placed in that room when that was not what I reserved. He said, Oh, you booked with a 3rd party, and sometimes 3rd parties will change your reservation without us knowing. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it, you will need to call the company you booked through and then they can authorize us to change it back. I travel enough to know that what Ishmael said is completely false, but instead of arguing with him in the moment I just said, ok.I called Chase Travel and after a lot of transfers and holds, I spoke to Trenda. She showed no record of changing the reservation and offered to contact the hotel directly to figure what could be done. She came back and said, the hotel is sold out of your room type tonight, but can move you into a room tomorrow. I said that was fine (I had no other choice), and requested a refund for the night. The note was added to issue me a refund for the first nightAt this point it is nearly 10pm. I had not unpacked or showered because I was anticipating being moved into another room, and I had missed a very import huddle with colleagues in preparation for a meeting the next day. I go downstairs and confirm with Ishmael who says, Yes, unfortunately we are sold out and we will move you tomorrow.THIS WAS THE CASE THE ENTIRE TIME! THIRD PARTIES DO NOT CHANGE RESERVATIONS WITHOUT NOTICE. HILTON WAS SOLD OUT AND ISHMAEL LIED TO ME, and then I spent nearly two hours in my room confirming that he lied. This meant I could not fully settle in, and I had to hustle back to my hotel after my meeting in the morning to move rooms. When I inquired about the refund I was offered $25 credit in their pantry. What? Your associate blatantly lied to my face, nobody wants to acknowledge that, and then you want to offer $25 credit in the pantry? It was offensive and I did not use any of the credit. For nearly two weeks I have been seeking a refund for that first night and Hilton has said, Since both rooms had the bed type you requested, we will not honor your request. Since you booked through a third party they need to be the ones to issue a refund. Again, Hilton completely ignores the fact that their associate LIED TO MY FACE causing me to be on the phone for almost two hours when he knew damn well me calling my credit card was not going to help. That is not how you do business. If Ishmael had said from the beginning, Hey, I am really sorry, we are sold out of your room type tonight but can move you first thing in the morning, is that ok? Then I would have been ok with that. I understand mistakes happen. But lying is not a mistake, it is deliberate and I should not have to pay for the deliberate mishandling of a mistake.
They charge you $5/day for wifi lmao. THIS IS 2022!!!!!!!! Screw you.NO wifi in the gym???Cleaning service woke me up 3 times then almost walked in on me naked 4th time (no warning) even though EVERY TIME I said plz no cleaning today.I pay a ton of money and I cant even get free, uninhibited wifi in 2022, what is wrong with you? This is so infuriating. Even after I paid $30 for 5 days of wifi, I got constantly kicked out every 2 mins fromthe meeting room network when downstairs.Front desk was great. But these small things really get under your skin, plz move into modern times. Not staying here again.
For a 3-star hotel, its a really good quality place with nice, comfortable room, spacious shower, generally good standard. Walls should be more sound-proof as you can hear your neighbors TV, which really shouldnt be the case. The heating/air-con works well and its not too noisy, which is great considering everything is so noisy in NYC, and the blackout curtains work also well. The fridge, tea/coffee machine, and the microwave are a nice touch and much appreciated.
Superclean hotel just around the corner of Times Square. Rooms are tiny, but spotless. Service levels could be improved: ice machine on my floor was not working and when I tried to call the hotel to request them for a late checkout, It took me 15 minutes to get an actual person on the phone. However, in all very good. I would have given it 5 stars werent it for the ice cubes and lacking phone service
I arrived in New York a day earlier than planned so needed a hotel for only one night. Booking was easy through booking.com. Be aware that many of the hotel amenities (restaurant, breakfast, business hub) are still not offered due to covid but this place met all of my needs for the short stay. Hotel staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating to my requests. The hotel is in a good location and was very nice. The room was small but clean and cute. I really liked it. I didnt want to move because I was so satisfied. Id stay here again if Im in NYC in the future.
A friend of mine and I stayed here the whole weekend and that was a very pleasant stay. We got one of 2 rooms in the whole entire hotel with the balcony. There were lack of patio furniture on the balcony and the balcony itself was a very decent size. The view was a typical Manhattan/tall building across the street view but don’t expect anything spectacular. It faces apartments buildings. The restaurant on the ground floor was closed because of the pandemic but since the hotel is situated near Times Square, Hell’s Kitchen, etc. there is no problem to find somewhere to eat or grab a drink. The highlight of our stay was the front desk employees. They were very attentive and helpful throughout the stay, especially Erica. I would be considering this accommodation for my next NYC trip! Job well done.
As a Hilton rewards member I couldn’t be more disappointed in this hotel. Upon arrival at 5pm our room was suppose to be ready. We received a key and headed up. Once we got to the room on the 12th floor it wasn’t ready and was still being cleaned. We had to wait until 5:30pm. Then the first set of keys didn’t work. We had to go down and get them changed and to inform the desk clerk that the lamps did not work in the room and it was difficult with no main overhead light. The clerk changed our room. We had to pack up and move to the 21st floor. After a few hours in the new room all the plugs and lights went out. The tech tried to fix it but couldn’t. So we had to be moved to our THIRD room on the 12th floor at 10pm at night. All three rooms in just the first day. The clerk on duty that night was VERY rude to me. Then here on our last night at 1am the fire alarm comes on all throughout the building. No one could clearly understand what the man over the intercom was saying so at 1am in 40 degree weather everyone had to go down and wait for the fireman to give the all clear. Just very disappointed and very angry with the service and fact that we had to be moved three times in our first day, deal with a very rude clerk and leave the building at 1am. We leave tomorrow and I will be giving this complaint to hiltons corporate office. I try not to complain much but for this type of money spent you shouldn’t receive this type of service.
This is the worst hotel Ive ever lived in! It has been two hours since I ordered the breakfast, food Service and Front Dest have been shirking each others responsibility, so far I have been to the front desk for three times, and my breakfast is out!! Im going crazy Im starving!!
A centrally located hotel, very close toost places in Manhattan. The rooms are small - not unusual for New York - but well furnished. There is a massive TV withost channels. The bed is comfortable, not too firm. The AC worked very well, and the bathroom has good water pressure. They have a small gift shop with snacks and other essentials. They do not offer breakfast or water to Hilton Diamond members.
Convenient hotel only a few blocks from Penn station and near Broadway theaters. The service from everyone was amazing, and they made sure to take good care of us. The room was just the right size for NYC, and everything that we needed. Even in the middle of NYC it was super quiet and easy to fall asleep. Thanks Hilton garden inn!
Extremely satisfied with our stay. Hotel and rooms are so clean that we thought it had been renovated. At the front desk Erica Owens and James went above and beyond to serve and help. At check-in AmEx was having a city-wide outage so I had to use a different card, but Erica and James made sure I could come back and switch to the original AmEx card once the issue was solved. They were extremely friendly.Definitely coming back
Rated before covid as one of my favorite hotels. Didnt feel welcomed at all here. My room , chosen by the hotel was in the back of the building on a high floor with no view. Had dirty stained carpets and mattresses. The duvet was also full of hair and stained and appeared to not have been changed. I called front desk to speak to Marie . She explained she was busy and would return my call after checking in a guest. I never received that call so I just used the other bed in the double queen requested.Spoke to James the next day. He seems overwhelmed, overworked and unbothered . Unwilling to go above and beyond anything outside of his title. When asked about diamond perks, was brushed off abruptly and told to talk to those in Hilton Honors membership about that stuff as he stated. Referring to daily food credit etc.Overall unsatisfied stay.
I hope I could give zero star. I stayed here for two nights and it was a nightmare. First of all, no water at all! I asked them if they have water three times and they just kept saying they don’t have water for now. How hard it is for them to get some water for their customers? Second and most important thing is that there are cockroaches in the room! I here to provide the images that have cockroaches everywhere! It’s so disgusting! I was sleeping and felt like my face is itchy, and I woke up to see there are five cockroaches in the bathroom and the room! Worst one that I never had.
I haven’t even been here for a full day yet and already we’ve had a number of problems. Room service would not pick up our calls when we arrived. Then when we got a hope of them 1 time, they told us the menu we had was wrong. At this time we chose to go somewhere else for food. Then when we showered the shower left an extreme puddle, soaking up the shower mat and half of the bathroom. Lastly, we went to breakfast (which was suppose to be included because I payed the extra money). Not only was it not worth the $50, but the guy at the bar took $20 out of the cash my boyfriend left to pay. Then was rude to us and said they’ll charge the room. I abs highly dissatisfied and disappointed with my experience so far and will not be staying my full 3 days.
I will just give 1 starts to this Hotel, I have been here for three days and they haven’t clean the bedroom. Even they have not replace our bath towels and the paper toilet either, the service is bad, the good things about this hotel is the location it’s close to time square and Empire State.
Nicest and cleanest hotel i have stayed near Times Square. This hotel was closed thru the pandemic and was remodeled and reopened on Sept 1.I spend nearly a week every month in the area, even thru Covid, and can say this remodeled Hilton has a friendlier staff with and cleaner rooms, lobby and elevators compared to other Hilton hotels in Midtown and Times Square.
As I first arrived, the parking is right next to the hotel, super convenient. We arrived a bit early, and were fully expecting to carry our heavy bags all around town. To our luck, we got an early check in!!! Everyone was extremely helpful in making it the best stay possible. The rooms was large and clean, and a decent view for the price! In checking out- we wanted to stay a bit longer but had nowhere to put our bags. We asked them to hold our bags, and they were more than happy to. It is right in the middle of the city, perfect location. Overall I had no problems and everyone was more than ready to help!
Love the location and the price. Staff was incredible at the front desk.Cons: Bed was HORRIFIC! It felt like I was sleeping on plywood boards. Had to ask for more pillows to use as a mattress pad. When we got to the room, the door wasn’t latching properly, even with the deadbolt. Maintenance was great, and reassured us it was fine. However, they shouldn’t be checking guests into a room unless the entry way is 100% secure.Would I stay at Hilton again? YesThis location? If better mattresses were installed.
Im so glad I chose to stay with you guys! Everything was exceptional from the moment I entered the hotel until I left. Was greeted as soon as I walked in and was checked in within 5 minuets. The room was beautiful and super clean and had just enough space. Bathroom was also very clean and nice. And my own private balcony was amazing I had a wonderful view and it was very spacious! But the bed and the pillows where AMAZING I really had the best sleep like I was sleeping on clouds! Hotel is perfectly located so you can walk to all major attractions and sights that NY is known for. If I had a complaint it would be the water pressure in the shower. But other than that I enjoyed my stay and will definitely be staying with you again in the near future!
Great experience, room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Rooms are small but cozy.. TV with lots of channels, great service, touch screen TV in lobby to act as a tour guide and also take pictures on! Front doors lock after a certain hour with security at front door as well, unlike other hotels in which you could walk in.
Solid stay. The rooms are small (its NY of course) but very nice. Housekeeping did a terrific job, it was immaculate, and we are picky. Breakfast was good and service was great. Was woken up one morning by housekeeping knocking to see if we had checked out at 8am, that was odd to me, but other than that, I would stay again. Area is within walking distance to most major tourist attractions like Times Square, etc. Employees seemed friendly all around.
Nice stay overall, but the “tubless” shower leaked water all over the floor every day. I also wish the cleaning staff wouldn’t waste the bar soap and shampoo bottles by replacing them with every cleaning. (I only let them in to clean once on the second day, then it was “no thank you” for the rest of my five night stay. An extra towel on the floor to stop the water, and it’s easy to use the same soap and towels for a few days. Why create more waste?)I stayed for a business trip, and everything was clean, quiet and comfortable— even though the street is pretty noisy, I never heard it in my fourth floor room. The staff was always friendly and aware. Lots to walk to nearby!
The staff was very accommodating and kind. Rooms are small, but it’s NYC so that’s expected! Great breakfast, really nicely served and presented. Restaurant attached has a nice spread for dinner if you don’t want to leave the hotel- staff was great. Walking distance from penn station. Would definitely book again!
Absolutely outstanding room. Stayed on the 23rd floor, well worth the extra cost. Sky high windows, big king bed, amazing view and very clean. We had the option of staying front or back of hotel and the choice of close or away from the elevator. Parking is right across the way. Access at night is just by key card keeping anyone not staying there out. Always have staff available and are extremely friendly. Great location near Broadway and some restaurants. All around, amazing!
We stay in the city each year at Christmas time. We opted for the upper floor room for better views of the city, unfortunately, there was no view of anything. While the room, staff, breakfast were wonderful, the lack of elevator service was not.Having very recent knee replacement surgery, caused waits for the elevator to exceed 27 minutes. Standing for that period of time was totally uncomfortable. Long lines in the lobby waiting for an elevator were normal. I learned the elevator was broken for a week. Im sorry, that is totally unacceptable. The choice and expenditure for a higher floor room was absurd as at 29 floors high, knee surgery or not, you will not utilize the stairs. At the very least, mention this upon booking or at arrival. Try waiting in a small hallway for 30 minutes, extremely unpleasant at best.
One of the best hotels weve ever stayed in. My husband and I are celebrating our 32 anniversary this week and decided on this hotel. When we called to check on our room they made sure we had one of the best rooms available. When we checked in, there was a towel on our bed in the shape of a heart with chocolate all around and a very sweet anniversary card signed by the employees. We celebrate here every year and this is the first hotel to acknowledge our occasion. Our room was very nice and the cleaning service was spot on. The only downside is that you can hear all the sirens even on 22nd floor but has nothing to do with the quality of the hotel. Thank you all for the awesome service we received. We will definitely book here again
Stayed for 4 nights, the experience was good, but not great. As a native New Yorker, I anticipated high prices for just about everything, and I dont think the hotel was worth the cost (about $250 per night), especially after seeing other Hilton properties that were much cheaper. Wanted a room with a balcony, but they were booked, so we got a room with a king size bed. The room was fairly quiet (dont get a room near the linen closet or youll hear that being opened and closed often) but very small, even by New York standards and our view was toward another building, in the Garment district, so you could watch people working through their windows. Kind of interesting, but kind of depressing too. The bed was ok but the pillows were very mushy. There is just about no room to store clothes, so youre probably better off just leaving them in your suitcase. Theres a closet with a bar, but the bar is so low, you cant hang even shirts properly. Also, the closet lacks depth, so you cant close the door unless you tilt the hangers at an angle. If youre traveling in fall or winter with coats and heavier clothing, youre out of luck. There are no dresser drawers, only 3 very small wire trays by the desk area, which is good enough to hold some belts and socks but not large enough for shirts, pants etc. The tv is large, and the room has a coffee maker, microwave and VERY small (laughably small) fridge. I had to take the plastic drawers out in order to put a few bottles of soda and water in there. I figured it would be large enough to hold leftovers from the restaurants we went to, but its not. Ample size bathroom, although the sliding door doesnt really provide much privacy. Dont get a handicapped access room unless you need to- running the shower, which is level with the floor, just causes the floor to get soaking wet after a shower. Upon entering the room and settling in, I read the hotel information that was provided.....linens arent changed daily unless requested. Housekeeping will empty your wastebaskets, fix your bed and change out your towels daily but there wasnt any vacuuming or dusting done. Even when we arrived, the desk area was dusty. Check your towels, although freshly laundered, they can be kind of dirty. I found some with hairs on them, and some were stained. The hotel is located on 8th Ave, which can get kind of sketchy, especially at night. Lots of homeless people and shady types just hanging out at the bodega a few doors down. My last night there, someone stopped me and asked if I wanted to buy some weed. Theres a restaurant next door, not associated with the hotel, that you can get food at, but theres no room service so youll have to call down to order food and then pick it up. The girl working there was sweet and they have a great $10 lunch special. But it would be nice to order food from the hotel itself and have it served on plates with proper metal utensils instead of picking up food from the restaurant which is packed like doggy bags in plastic take out containers with plastic cutlery. Theres a hotel shop near the entrance that sells snacks, microwavable meals etc but the prices are ridiculous (not surprised). The staff was very nice and courteous but I dont know if Id go back to this Hilton property. For $250 a night, theres got to be better places to stay.
Staff is super friendly. They are helpful and accommodating. Rooms are small but clean. The bathroom in the hotel lobby was extremely unclean - almost threw up. I think the Hilton Garden Inn stopped doing free coffee and tea. It said free coffee but never saw any. Im not sure if I would stay here again. Its an okay hotel but I’ve had better experiences in other hotels in NYC.
Stayed overnight in a room on the third floor for a conference nearby. Room was clean and well maintained - shower looked updated and modern. Not much of a view looking out into the lobby, but for a night, wasnt a big deal. Breakfast costs 19.99, standard continental offerings in house. Best part is the location, close to times square and Penn station. For one night in a standard King room, Id say I paid $450 for the convenience of being close.
I stayed for the night after an alive after 5 cruise with my company. The staff at the desk was very friendly and helpful. I had drinks at the bar after checking in, and Kevin and Chris were both excellent bar tenders. I ordered an old fashioned and he recommended an Irish Old Fashioned which was delicious. The room was clean and ready. I didnt spend much time awake there, but it served my purposes well.
Loved this hotel, bedroom had everything I needed for my stay there.Coffee machine, microwave, small drinks cooler. Very big television, iron, ironing board.Bathroom good size. Maid service everyday and very clean.Ice machine in corridor.Staff very helpful.Would definately stay here again.
Our visit was very pleasant. The staff was very helpful. The rooms were nice, beds were very comfortable. We were traveling as a large group and had three rooms. All rooms were same quality. The only problem was with the keys. It was easily remedied. I would definitely return on another visit.
Very disappointed in Hilton and this location. We were visiting the city when a massive power outage occurred. Our hotel room had no lights, running water (couldnt even flush the toilet), and no AC after it had been 90 degrees all day.... We attempted to wait out the power outage for several hours but at 11 pm decided that it was not acceptable to pay for a hotel room that did not even have running water. When we checked out the staff was less than helpful, were rude, and denied us any sort of refund. They wouldnt even give us a receipt reflecting the early check out! The employee even asked us before leaving if this situation really deserves a refund... We had no running water in our room that we paid good money for. Hilton is still refusing to refund us, very disappointing!
Staff is very friendly and accomodating. The breakfast is fresh and made to order. They have a quality gym and a good adjacent bar where bartender Kevin will make sure your drink is just right! I gave it 4 stars because it does not have a spa or pool. Great hotel in the center of Manhattan
This hotel is well located in the center of everything short walked to times square. And there are lots of great restaurants including my favorite Italian Becco. The rooms are small but the TVs are good size The elevators work well. There was confusion at the front desk when we checked in that could be better. theres an Irish bar off the lobby thats open until 4:00 a.m. Thats good. Why it even though it was on the second floor but I had a view of a wall its a trade off in New York City You get a view and noise or you get a wall and quiet
Good location, close to Broadway and 10mins walk to Times square. Stayed for 5 nights and overall experience was fantastic.Restaurant is good, offering nice breakfast.Standard sized rooms, which are well maintained, neat n clean. Some of the Staff members can be more polite towards guests.A little costly when compared to other similar hotels but the location advantages may override this factor.
I am enjoying my stay at the Hilton. Located about a few blocks from Time Square. This hotel is fairly new. The front desk agents were very polite and gave us bottles of water when we first checked in. The lobby has delightful free cookies I thought were awesome. They have an option to use the app to unlock your room which I give a big plus for my love of tech. The rooms are very clean and reasonably spacious. I am sharing a room with my wife and we have a king size bed. Overall, I can recommend this place for the value and location.
Definitely a reliable entity in the median nyc hotel market. Nice clean rooms efficient without inducing claustrophobia. Slightly above moderate security key card entry required for entrance and elevators over night. Great for families close to everything but a little distance from it.
Have had several excellent stays here. Hotel is clean and bright, clearly updated recently. Attached bar is very good, especially when you are too tired to go elsewhere. Close enough to Penn Station for an easy trek and Richie at the front desk was extremely helpful when I thought I had lost something. Even called me back, unlike many other hotels.
Great location and reasonable prices. Rooms are a little small but manageable. Everything seemed clean, although the one day the cleaning person did our room, the shower head must have been leaking a bit because she left a hand towel in the shower and it got drenched. Im not sure why you would put a towel in a shower. She also replaced the coffee with decaf even though wed only used caffeinated. Rooms are reasonably quiet and beds comfortable. They have some snacks & drinks in the lobby to purchase but there is a 7-11 around the corner as well. A couple of oddities during our stay were the phone ringing at 7 am & again at 8 am on the first morning. And on the second the fire alarm went off at 9 am but we were notified quickly that it was to be ignored. Overall I would stay again because of the value.
This hotel and all staff exceeded our expectations. From the moment of our arrival, a room was ready in advance of normal check in. The room was modern and spotless. The location is ideal. Nothing but positive comments for our 4 day visit to NYC. Will be looking to stay here again in the future. Keep up the great work!! Thank you! Paul Dal Bello
The location is great, close to Broadway, but not too close. The rooms are very quiet for a Manhattan location. We were greeted warmly at the front desk and given lots of restaurant and walking tips. The rooms are up- to- date and modern with good amenities, including in-room fridge and coffee maker.
Room was small but its what you expect in New York. It was well appointed, mini fridge, microwave and plenty of storage. The bathroom and shower area were especially nice (although not much storage). It was clean and house keeping did a great job daily. I would recommend this location about a 5 minute walk to Penn Station subway then you can go anywhere in the city pretty effortlessly. Id stay here again!
Good Afternoon!!! I stay at this hotel 4 days and 3 night. I had a group of 14 a total of. 6 rooms . Everything was great the people at the front desk were so understanding, helpful and super nice .The best of all is I left my purse in the closet of my room . The house keeper found it and they shipped it to fed X . When I got my purse everything was in there just like I left it .. I will stay here next time I’m in New York . I would recommend it to others . Great people great location.. Thanks
Not perfect but the helpful staff made up for it. We were checking in early but no rooms were yet available so they agreed to store our luggage. There is a restaurant and bar attached to the lobby so we had lunch while waiting. The food was good but we were not aware that every saturday is Drag Queen Brunch day. So, lunch was a bit noisy! A room became available afer an hour (still ahead of check in time) but when we walked into the room there was a couple who were just as surprised as us. We all agreed that sharing was not an option. So, we went back to the front desk where we were informed that the folks in our room had used digital access and not vacated at check out time. Apparently, the cleaning staff reported the room ready. I guess they were not aware the rom was ever occupied? Maybe this digital access system has some glitches. All that said, it just goes to show how a friendly courteous staff can turn a potentially unpleasant experience into a somewhat humerous incident.
E Owens made an effort to accommodate, but she gave me a wheelchair accessible room, 505, which wasn’t a requirement. She also didn’t seem to understand my request for a quiet room, away from the elevator when she offered room 1204, which was right behind the elevator. So the room I took was 505, which was about 5 feet from a utility closet; in the morning there was a lot of banging noise from the cleaning lady. The room 505 seemed half baked, eg no hangers, the fridge was half the size of a normal one, there also was some mysterious blue stain on the top shelf in the bathroom & last but not least, no shower pressure. That said, even though I booked the room w HT, they still honor HH and offered points.
I stayed here for 7 nights. Im a medical student who stayed at Hilton Garden Inn Central Park South previously. And I was extremely happy with the whole arrangement. Assuming Hilton Garden Inn TImes Square South would be of the same standards, I decided to stay here for the most important medical exam of mine. To my surprise, this was a big mistake!! Out of 7 nights, even for 1 night the heater did not work. Neither was my bedding changed even once. The house keeping would just come and arrange the same bedding & pillows. And I easily noticed this, unlike the other guests, because I would be inside my room all day studying for the exam and go out only for an hour to buy my necessities, during which, I would request the housekeepers to clean the room. The bed would be arranged, but stains from the previous day would still be the the sheets and the pillow cases. The bathroom area was not washed even once. All the hair would still be on the floor every time I got back. Because I had to study and not want to invest my time in arguing, I made no complaints during my stay. But I feel this should be brought to notice to the hotel management and the people considering booking this hotel for their stay, based on it being a branch of HILTON. THIS WAS A GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT. Hope they live up to the standards of other Hilton hotel in future.
The doors slam... every single door, even unintentionally. Our floor (#3) had about 5 or 6 voltage closets on it and either, someone was opening and closing those all night, or it was other guests; either way, the slamming doors wakes you up constantly. Breakfast is $19.99 per person for the same type of breakfast that is usually free, but at least there are some cheap outside options very close by (Essen, for example). Our air-conditioning/heater was humming loudly, even when off, and at one point was practically screaming for 25 minutes. There is also a permanently turned on fan in the washroom. The bartenders give you the impression that they would rather be just about anywhere other than serving you.It wasnt all bad though, the little shop in the lobby was convenient and not too expensive. The room was clean, nice and seemed new. The shower was great and even had steam options. Room service was great and besides all the noise mentioned above, there was little outside noise coming in. Although, the window saw directly into a factory so we had to keep the blinds closed to avoid staring directly at the factory staff, although this is kind of expected for New York. Overall, the good things kept us from making a complaint but not from writing a bad review.
To be fair, for this price in Manhattan, I would give it a 4.3 stars. Ive booked a king size bed room for 3 nights. I checked in with my Hilton app, and discovered to have two room options: a 2nd floor room and a 20th floor room. I chose the 20th floor without hesitation. At the check-in, I was greeted fairly nicely and was told that I was assigned a 22nd floor room. Even better! We were facing the back of the hotel (south). But as the room was so up high, we can actually see the sky and a glimpse of the East river. The view isnt fantastic, but at least better than facing a building. The coffee pods in the room is complimentary. The room isnt big, but it is nice clean and comfortable. The bathroom is better than my expectation and they even have wooden floors. The breakfast is pretty okay, an American breakfast: sausages, potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, fruits, cereals, toasts, breads, orange and apple juices. You can also do cook-to-order pancakes and waffles. The only downside of the breakfast to me is the staff. I dont know why, but the two staffs do not smile at all. I was not greeted when entered the Doyler, literally had to even approach them and ask about breakfast. Although theres no harsh attitude or anything, I felt somewhat uncomfortable while interacting with them. But nothing major there. Overall, I am satisfied with the breakfast. As I was staying with my cousin, we felt that a king bed is really rather small. So on the morning of my last stay, I kindly asked the front desk if they could switch my room to a double bed room (which wouldve cost a bit more than what wed originally booked) instead. May be it is the hilton honor status (or not?), she took a look at her screen and said sure almost instantly. I asked whether I had to pay extra and she said no. We took our luggage down and she said the room will be ready after 12. So we just went out for a New York hike. The new room is on the 16th floor, the view isnt as good but acceptable. The room is actually not bigger, but the bathroom is still good (now with a bathtub instead). At least we slept comfortably that night. This free upgrade upon request does boost this experience from a 3 to 4 stars. So overall, I would say this hotel is pretty good and it has my recommendation. The lobby is small, but clean and up to date. The staffs are nice. No extra perks for diamonds and gold, though I am not sure whether the free room changing and assigned high floor rooms are attributed to the gold/diamond status . I chose this HGI over the Times Square one as that one only provides to-go breakfast, while here we have a small but decent American buffet breakfast. One of the reasons I kept it a 4 star is because Ive booked at a slightly higher price. This is on me and not on HGI. But it just doesnt feel as good when you know the price fluctuates on a daily basis on the week before the stay, and that you couldve saved over a $100 for a 3 night stay when you purchased at the right rate.
I want to like this hotel more than I do. The staff have all been helpful, prompt, and courteous. The location is excellent. And, while the rooms dont have the best accommodations, they are fine. Unfortunately, there are various small issues that all together leave me feeling overall neutral to the hotel. I dont dislike it, I just doubt Ill remember much about it down the road. The view is largely dependent on where your room faces, and your floor. Anything below the 8th or 9th floor on the front of the building will give you a view of the outer structure, and then the building across the street. However, at higher floors the view is good. The shower and bathroom are nice, water that is quick to heat and spacious enough to not feel cramped. Water pressure could be higher in the shower, but it is not bad. Prices for food and drink in the hotel are marked up, of course, but the selection isnt too bad. Though $30 for a bottle of wine at The Shop is amusing. I did notice that the sheet for my bed was too small, likely one meant for a queen size, but that was easily resolved. My main complaint is the air conditioning in the rooms. Even when set to heat it would continually turn on to emit cool air, and the haphazard way it would sputter to life for a few moments every couple of minutes was a bit annoying. I had a much better experience with it once I just set it to Fan mode whenever I was in the room. If youre looking for a relatively affordable hotel near Times Square/Penn Station, then Id recommend this hotel. It wont blow you away, but it shouldnt disapproval either.
Rooms were very nice but thats all I enjoyed about our stay. Management and employees were very rude not genuine friendly st all. Had issues with the amount of my rooms being different to what was said online and James had the most non caring attitude about the entire issue. Then I received another unauthorized charge while I was out shopping called the hotel and the customer service rep was not of any help as well. I usually stays a Marriott Hotels just decided to give the Hilton a try but how I was treated I will never book with the Hilton ever again. P.s the door guys we the only employees I found genuinely had interest in your customers needs.
Stayed here during 5 day pre-Christmas break. Ideal location for subway, sights, bars and restaurants. Streets can be a little intimidating at first but you perfectly safe. The hotel is new so decor is fresh, rooms are small but adequately furnished with tight but compact layout. Only problem we found was the room temperatures were very hot, however it was NY in winter and wed hit on a very mild week. Would recommend and would stay here again.
If youre looking to stay really close to Time Square, there are a cluster of decently priced and clean Hiltons. Ive tried two, and I like this one. Small rooms, but its all that I need. The bar next door is open to 4am on Saturday. No pool or rooftop bar, and if I had time for those Id be bummed. Its close to the bus terminal, so its a great location. If you get the correct spots around the building, youll have a good view, and the SkyView rooms have massive windows about 25ft tall.
I stayed here for two nights 4/17/18-4/19/2018 and everything was fine until the second day i checked out of the hotel and noticed some small bumps on my back side and lower legs to only get to the airport and start to feel real itchy and find out i had bed bug bites all over my body... called to let them know what was going on and all they asked for was my room number and said they would investigate it..... nothing else to follow up on! poor customer service on their part! Be careful of room #307!!!!
We were able to check in a few hours early for our 3 day stay. No issues whatsoever and the hotel is very conveniently located close to Times Square and many of the popular tourist destionations. It is a short walk to Penn Station which will get you to most places in the city within minutes. Our room was very clean, all staff were very friendly, and we would definitely stay here again in the future.
Steady, reliable place to stay. Clean comfortable rooms. Hotel bar and restaurant very good. My only complaint is the view from the hotel room was right into the factory next door. Also for those coming from out of town, this hotel is actually several blocks from times square, as well as any train station access. Be prepared to spend on taxis and ubers if the weather is cold.
The rooms are a bit small but they were clean, modern and attractive. Great price for downtown. They dont have parking but if your adventurous you should be able to find free street parking nearby. Tip from the front teller, READ the No Parking signs to a avoid getting towed. The city sweepers sweep the different sides of the streets on certain days and getting booted or towed for violating the No Parking is costly. Theres paid parking nearby but I thought that $50 a day was too pricey. Times Square was just a 10 minute walk away.
This hotel is overall clean and decent, but not very well organized. Although there is a helpfull and patient receptionist who knows many languages (italian, spanish, portuguese and others), whose name is Richie, someone else is not equally efficient. Be careful, because what they call triple rooms are very small, they are as small as the double rooms. Good luck!
I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights on business. The staff was friendly and the rooms were modern and clean. Most importantly the wifi was reliable. Also the TV was HD and didnt have the wierd 5 second delays that other hotels have. I will say thev rooms are smaller than Im accustomed to, but this was my first visit to New York. I would stay here again
Location is perfect within walking distance of Times Square and subway stations. The street itself is relatively quiet but is just a 1 minute walk from 8th avenue, which has food and entertainment at any time of day or night. Quite a simple hotel - very new, very clean and with great service. Great value, too.
Front desk rep said there would be no charges associated with the room when I asked about checkout and room fees. Even when I asked about water, coffee, other beverages, etc. He said anything that would require purchasing, would be available/charged at the store next to the front desk. They then charge $8 for waters and waste my time with the followup. Even though there was a card on the water stating a fee, after 7-8 hours of traveling and the convo with front desk, I quickly opened and drank it without hesitation. Cynthia, the front office manager, clearly thinks that misinformation by her staff does not warrant any remediation on their part. Poor management - not having a common sense filter to policies... if they have such blind allegiance to policy, think of the other instances where you may get penalized due to their ignorance. Will think twice about staying at a Hilton again! Its about the principle, and if they are willing to defend that ignorance for such a marginal cost at the expense of your brand, then you have managers that obviously are obviously due for reevaluation.
Really new hotel, built in 2017. Rooms are normal sized for NYC. Staff was incredible and always helpful. Book your room a month or two ahead of time and try to snag a balcony room. 18th floor balcony views of 37th were great with a morning cup of coffee. The Irish restaurant downstairs was decent, 3/5, but plenty of choices nearby.Close to Penn Station (easy access to downtown and uptown) and Port Authority, so commuting was easy. Best part, not nearly as noisy as the rest of midtown! Deff a great hotel!
I booked this Hotel after canceling another major brand of hotel. I can say, it was the right thing, I ever did. Hilton no doubt a quality of customer service, courteous employees and staff. Lets talk about this Hotel specifically.Cleanliness: Place is sparkling clean.Food: Amazing Food Restaurant on the concourse level. Their breakfast is totally worth it because, in addition to normal foodstuff, they offer chef made food like Omelet, Pancakes and French toast to name a few.Location: Its very near to Subway train stations, Indian, Chinese and Mexican restaurants, and other businesses.Pro tip: Become a Hilton Silver and above member to get two water bottles for free.Special shout out to hotel staff, especially Ms. Nafeesa Brent. She is a seasoned hotel staff with a very helpful, polite attitude. She answered my questions with a great patience. Im saying this after staying in many Hilton, Wyndham and Crowne Plaza hotels.
Very terrible experience, except for the kind front desk staffs...... Please dont be fooled by the Hilton term. The room was extremely small. There wasnt much space in addition to the bed and the bathroom (BTW, no bathtub in the bathroom). The wifi was so weak and unstable that I couldnt use the internet in the room. I informed the staffs but they couldnt fix it. As a result, I have to use my laptop in the lobby. It was strange that there was a door between two rooms (307 & 308), so its totally not good in sound-proofing. I was waken up by the noises made from the next room and I had to call the front desk at 3 am to solve this problem. The staff changed another room for me in the second night. This time the wifi was much better. However, the heater did not function well. The room was cold, and it was making a lot of noises at night (theres no central heating system). Theres still a door between two rooms (607 & 608), which made it still bad in noise-proofing.In sum, its totally not worth the price. Id rather book an Airbnb next time.
Great staff, very helpful with good training and attitude.Rooms are clean and modern. Some of the top floor rooms on floor 23 have really cool 20 foot high windows with an electric powered window shade.Rooms are very small however. They are about half the size of a typical Hilton Garden Inn room. If you are claustrophobic, stay elsewhere.Great location to do all midtown Manhattan tourist stuff. Walking distance to Empire State Building, Times Square, Madison Square Garden, St. Patricks Cathedral, Rockefeller Complex, 5th Avenue shopping, Broadway show theaters, and a multitude of restaurants.Good times!
When I stayed here it was only a few weeks old and the service was on point. I highly recommend staying here and if you do, try the breakfast that they offer. Great ommeletes and anything else you want. If you like espresso just go next door and then come right back for the food.
I’ve been in the Hospitality industry for about 10 years, I’ve never been more impressed with a staff. You all are rockstars with amazing customer service! From the front desk to the housekeeping, I was always greeted with a warm smile and friendly conversation. Thank you.
Rooms are small but clean. Closet space is very limited and my room had no safe. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean but had limited counter/shelf space. Walk in shower with no bath which I like- others may not. Staff was friendly and helpful. Its a 10 minute walk from both Times Square and the Javits centre, so a great lication if youre in town for a conference at the Javits centre but also want to visit Times Square. Madison Square Garden is about 5 minutes walk as well. Overall, not a bad hotel. My biggest issue was not having a safe. My biggest irritant was that they dont give you any actual glasses- only paper cups. Who wants to drink scotch out of a paper cup? Id stay there again- definitely better than some other similarly priced dumps Ive stayed at in Times Square.
Located near Penn Station and Port Authority, the Hilton Garden Inn is central to all of the attractions in New York City. The location is perfect. You can get anywhere quickly. Within one block from the hotel, you can find a selection of bars, restaurants, 24 hour establishments and 7-11. There is even a Dunkin-Donuts for you Californians who cant experience it back west. The hotel is modern, business-savvy and offers rooms with all of the items needed to make your stay in NYC perfect. The highlight of my stay was checking in because the gentleman was fast, efficient and had a nice conversation with me. Overall, this is a good choice to make your home while in New York City.
Good base if you’re a tourist in NYC. Rooms are a good size for Manhattan (some are TINY) and they are clean and fairly modern. Location is a short distance from Time Square etc so you can get everywhere. Also the guy ok the desk has some great recommendations for where to eat!
This hotel gives a decent price for your stay. Thats for sure. But it has a very strange politics towards a deposit. They only accept credit cards and no debit cards or cash. But once your credit card doesnt goes through. You are forced to buy a Gift Card. Ive bought this card from loca farmacy shyp and the guest after me had been forced to do it as well. The question is: Why should i buy it? Why cant i give a cash deposit? But what was the reason accepting this card which lead to nothing. On a gift card you cant charge me no more than on cash? So its pointless and stupid. Ive been to NYC and MIAMI on this trip. Hyatt in Miami had no problem accepting a cash. I had a very negative experience with your deposit policy. Im in love with NYC and your hotel location by the way! Three stars and no more for your service.
I really like where this hotel is situated on 37th ST near 8th AVE. If youre a tourist like me, I recommend this place over staying on Times Square. There are so many independent restaurants that cover a wide variety of cuisines near by. And its a very short walk to (overrated) Times Square. It has a nice local feel to it. Theres even a barber shop down the street.Parking is $55/24 hours across the street, which is a pretty good deal. When its time to go, Lincoln Tunnel is just down the street. The rooms are not very big but they are clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Typically decent Hilton property, but when they jacked the price up to $204 for Monday night I said goodbye (Sat. and Sun. were $103). Im now in a nice all-suite hotel two blocks north (Candlewood) for half the money and with a full kitchen.Cant understand the self-defeating greed of these big hotel chains. The Homewood Suites three doors down from the Hilton (and also owned by them) was posting $140 on their website for Monday around midnight Sunday. Two hours later they had jacked it up to $240. I went there to confirm the change, and they still had plenty of rooms available.Despite being a Hilton Diamond member, Im done with them for now.Loyalty is a two-way street, so to speak.
As a Hilton and NYC lover I absolutely must warn you about staying here. I only chose this place because of the price and I am a Hilton Elite member. I could not be more sorry! It has nothing to do with the hotel necessarily, but this is NOT NOT NOT Time Square. This is Hell’s Kitchen... if that.... and not a safe neighborhood after dark, especially if you have children, or it’s your first time to NYC.Do not stay here, or anywhere near here, if you want to fall in love with this city. I fell in love with New York over 25 years ago, so much so that I now live here. If you stay in this area you will never develop these feelings. In fact you will be running away as fast as you can. You will become that statistic.Again, it’s just me. Take it or leave it. I would never live in another city, but I would never, ever stay in this neighborhood.I could never live with myself if i didn’t warn you of Skid Row.Thanks for your time and by the way, Hilton refunded my entire stay because of just this.
Staff definitely tried taking advantage of my situation to squeeze a hundred bucks out of me. Phone got stolen and new one had yet to be activated so I was stuck trying to download Uber in the lobby to catch my flight in Newark. I ask one of he younger employees (had a beard) if he knows what the best way to get to the airport is. He says the hotels car service through his coworker and buddy and that it will be 90 dollars. I say that’s a little steep and ask about a taxi. He then states the 90 dollars would probably be cheaper than a taxi and he knows since he lives in Jersey. I say okay and then ask about public transit. This employee then claimed he did not know how the transit worked and the car service again would be best. Yea right, my guy. You definitely don’t know how transit works. I’m sure you’re driving in from jersey and parking for 50 bucks a day. Anyways I walk over to the train station and what do you know it’s 13 bucks direct service. Screw this place honestly, I almost missed my flight cus I was hanging out in the lobby for 40 minutes trying to figure out how to get to the airport. They didn’t even offer to look it up or anything.

2022-07-10This Hilton location was nice and the price was reasonable. The front desk person was very helpful and friendly. There’s a parking garage right across from the hotel and that’s a plus if you have a vehicle. However, NY parking is expensive. I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

2022-04-30Great location! Friendly staff and good size room. Im giving it 3 stars because they didnt refill anything in our room, not once. We had to call and ask for coffee capsules every single day in order to make coffee in our room. Same thing with toiletries, even though our room was made they didnt refill anything.

2022-03-22We did not receive complimentary water during our stay in January. There is a little store where we bought a lot of quite expensive water. The ice machines were not working. One of our rooms had a giant cockroach.I had stayed here a few years ago and was disappointed with the decrease in quality. One of our rooms was in great need of a makeover. We could also hear the conversations of people in the next room, or above us…. But they may have just had loud voices.

2022-03-18I arrived to find the air conditioning not working. It was stuck on heat and despite being warm outside, was blowing hot air. I kept trying to adjust it with no luck. I asked a gentleman at the front desk if I could switch rooms and before he could answer, another lady jumps in and rudely says “I’ll send maintenance up to show you how to work the AC”.A few minutes a later a very polite man showed up and confirmed the air conditioning unit was indeed broken and asked reception if they could switch me rooms, they still said no. Fortunately he was able to return 15min later and fix it.In addition, the privacy curtain doesn’t completely cover the window. Being on the second floor means people in the courtyard behind the hotel can see everything in the room unless you move the hotel furniture and your luggage in front of it.Digital key didn’t work and while in the elevator, another customer shared that their digital key didn’t work either and they could only get in with physical key. Finally, hotel is a bit old. It’s been renovated, but not super well.

2022-05-04Stayed in a King sized Bed room. Rooms were small. Great location. Not any interesting views from the room.No in Hotel breakfast (Doylers Restaurant closed) option other than a To-go pay per item marketplace. Each and every item is overpriced. Fresh food options from To-go market is bad.

2022-06-09The room was nice and clean. The bathroom was really clean and modern. Staff was very friendly and helpful, but there was a few reasons I had to mark this as just an ok visit.1. They first gave me a key to someone elses room when I first checked in. Im so thankful that no one was in that room because when I walked in it was filled with suitcases and garbage on the bed. I would have been mortified if someone had been in there when I walked in.2. The store did not have many options for snacks. Its not like the pictures online that have an abundance of options.3. When I did make a purchase from the store I had specifically asked the man checking me out for a receipt because I was on a business trip and needed the receipt for my corporate card. He told me that even though I was not charging it to my room - the receipt I receive when I check out will have these purchases listed. (It did not)4. At check out the man read off my email address to send my receipt - I told him it was wrong and provided the correct email address. He laughed and told me he actually did have the correct email, but just misread it to me. (He did not - when I called after my stay for a copy of the receipt the woman who helped me read my email and it was still wrong)

2022-05-21Great location, room great as well - our only complaint was the sour wait staff member (petite, average height, full-bodied curly hair) who loudly protested that how dare we come to the bar during operating hours stating that the bar was closed (despite it being freshly 11pm, no signs stating the contrary and the concierge informing the bar was open until midnight). The attitude was noted by another stranger couple seated next to us at the bar because we were in absolute disbelief at the hostility. The bartender seemed unaffected by his coworkers nasty behavior so we quickly ordered drinks to go with him... we find it distasteful that a staff member employed by Hilton in one of the busiest locations in NYC went out of their way to make us feel unwelcome whilst on vacation at a hotel during operation hours posted and advertised by the hotel staff.

2022-07-09This place is not kid friendly. Requesting and receiving a crib was the most difficult thing imaginable. Bring your own unless you want to wait a couple hours, make wind several phone calls, and visits to the front desk in person. Nobody cared, staff kept blaming others.

2022-07-07Very affordable room for the area. We opted for a room on the top floor with 2 beds. The view was great for us, the south side. The multiple window shades closed well for privacy. There were three pillows per bed so overall, enough. There was plenty of hot water and the AC worked.Right outside our room was the ice machine. We were around the corner from elevators so we’re not bothered by any other guest noise. And the top floor was perfectly distanced from the street noise, although emergency/police vehicles were heard like they were right out the window.Gripes: the bathtub was very slick despite the textured bottom. The hotel was not sufficiently stocked for several days of hotel room use. Suggestions: bring your own coffee/beverage mug that can be washed out and reused.Since this place is in Midtown, it was incredibly convenient to use as a routine pit stop throughout the day. Our visit was for primarily foot traffic sight-seeing and we logged over 90k steps in 3 days! Getting some rest at the hotel quite frequently was very beneficial as opposed to having to stop and buy junk food or unwanted items to use restrooms and have a seat. The room has a small fridge with a freezer and a cooler gel block. Plus wire racks. We shopped at the CVS a few blocks south for extra beverages, snacks, soup and Mac n cheese for our mini breaks. We ate breakfast at Tick Tock and Sunset Diner. Other meals mostly out and about where we were at the time.If you are staying upwards of a week, consider bringing a fork, spoon, knife and extra TP. As said earlier, front desk supplies were in short supply and overnight one night, the front desk did not have any extra tp which is awkward.Enjoyed the stay. Certainly not enough time to see even a fraction of what is available.Note: lots of drug addicts passed out or spaced out on the block. If this is hard for you to take in, find a hotel elsewhere as they were there all day and sometimes a few looked dead with their body sprawled on the walk and their head hanging off the curb. We did not feel endangered by them. But just so sad and sickening a situation for them, despite their life choices. We dropped food off to them as often as we could. I figure if I could spend a year and a half in the sandbox helping others then I could at a minimum help our own with food. After all, they are all someone’s son or daughter.

2022-02-14Absolutely the worst hotel staff I’ve ever interacted with. Tim the supervisor and Erica the manager has zero class, very unprofessional and uneducated on how to be in management. To steal money from a client and not take responsibility is absurd. Communication doesn’t get around in this hotel as I was transferred to so many people and in the end, was called a liar when I have proof of the false charge in my account. Plenty of other hotels to choose from. Stay clear of this one.
