We had been waiting for this place to open. Finally made it! It still isnt fully open but the grand opening is less than a month away. Atmosphere was fun and food and drink were delicious. The live band was great. They had people clapping, cheersing, and dancing on the benches. Definitely will be coming back!
This place is horrible. Amount of food is not worth the price. Our party of 4 were so disappointed when our food was brought to the table. I feel its one of those gimmick places to experience a beer hall, but the food is horribly not authentic. My jagerschnitzle was so hard to chew I didnt even want it. Tables were sticky and so were the benches when we arrived. I really don’t see this place lasting in a town that is known for multiple ethnic foods. Its a chain. Schnitzel on Transit was way better when it was open, and that place was even hit or miss.
Welcome to Germany right here in Buffalo, NY!!!Very authentic Beer Garden/Hall/Restaurant 🍻 downtown. Limited Menu for now. Everything we had to eat was amazing. The Staff all dressed in authentic Bavarian outfits really set the mood. A fun evening and we will be back. Go here! And remember to Tip generously folks!
The name of my server was Dangster. He was extremely friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. He made our night unforgettable and just so enjoyable. He really connected with us and is so skilled in this role. I cannot say enough how much you would want him as your server if you were to come to hofbrauhaus. The food was on point (second time coming) and the music was even better than the first time we came. You will not regret your experience at this restaurant.
I enjoyed my trip to the jaunt to the loaded lumber outdoor market and public espresso truck. However I saw that hofbrauhaus was just the other side of the downtown Seneca casino and I wanted to try it out and see what they have. The place is impressive large munich beer hall style restaurant and bar. I should have checked yelp before before I went because theres an extensive menu of German food and beer that I would of liked to investigate further by because I was pressed for time and that may have affected my review.I decided on the Sausage plate or wurstplatte with pork sausages Vienna style frankfurter chicken sausage imported sauerkraut mashed potatoes and onion mustard. The staff/servers in beer hall dress which gives a festive feeling and the servers I spoke with were knowledgeable and willing to help.with questions about the food and beer selection. I feel I need to go back with a larger group I was underwhelmed with the food I tried. I know i would of tried something different instead of
An expensive but fun German dining experience.Pros: the Kartoffelsuppe was heavenly, and the beers were all very good. I’m not a beer person, but the Oktoberfest beer was genuinely yummy. The Currywurst was nice, and not spicy at all. The waitresses were also very friendly.Cons: the Jägerschnitzel was bland and very expensive—more than twice the price of the German restaurant we normally go to. The Apfelstrudel we got for dessert was tiny and cold. I’d definitely come back, but I’d change my order a bit.
Perhaps I just don’t like German food lol However, this place has some of the best Black Forest cake I’ve ever had!! (no photo of the Black Forest cake, unfortunately)First off, their food came out hot and service was quick. As for the food…. Everything I tried was just…. Kinda…. Blah. Nothing tasted bad or was undercooked— the flavors were just very boring and didn’t do it for me.Also, a huge detractor, was the live singers— the volume was so loud and almost obnoxious— again, perhaps this is why people come here?Oh yea…Please please don’t mess with a Moscow mule!! The fall Moscow mule— 🤢. No. Just no. LolIn all fairness, they service was good and attentive. The food was prepared well.
Went for the first time today! What a great experience and atmosphere! It was a blast and a great time with a group of friends. The food was great and our server Dangster was amazing! He had great recommendations for food and made the experience even better! Definitely would go there again!
Took them longer than expected to finish construction and finally open, but it was worth the wait. Good food in an unique setting & menu. Our server was extremely aggressive in upselling, but other than that, we were generally pleased with our experience. Inside is loud and fun, but if you prefer less volume, they have plenty of outdoor seating. One of the only places I know where they charge for parking ($5), though there are other options a short distance away ($3 parking across the street, and street parking if available for those so inclined).
Went last night for the second time and it was just as amazing as the first time! We took my mom for her birthday and she had such a blast!! The food was awesome, beer was cold, and the live music was so fun! If you havent been to this place yet, GO! We will be regular customers for sure!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Theres very little on street parking, but there is a parking lot an its paid parking, cash only and the $ goes to a museum nearby.I marked that I spent about $30 per person but I had a meal, 1 small beer, 1 soda(aka pop) and had purchased a large dimple bier stein. Worth every penny.
We had an amazing tome there tonight thanks to our server Dangster. He is truly amazing,, so personable and funny He had us laughing and smiling the entire time we were there I wish all servers had his charisma. The table next to us was let’s say very “unpleasant and rude” he handed them with such grace, I on the other hand was ready to go to battle for him.He really should be commended on how he handled that party and how he was able to make sure that my party had such an enjoyable experience there. I love his energy and hopefully next time we come back he can be our server again!
After reading other reviews about cold food, I can’t believe this place has not been cited by the Heath department! We had reservations for 1pm 10/17We were looking forward to a nice lunch and we’re nothing but disappointedOur waitress took our order and our food arrived quickly and we took one bite and was disappointed! The food was refrigerator COLD!! Yes, REFRIGERATOR COLD!!Our waitress took our food and told us she will have them re-make our meals.A few minutes later the same meals we sent back were returned. The food was MICROWAVED and rubbery!!The food was warm with cold spots throughout. We ended up eating it as we had somewhere to go did not have time to eat elsewhere. Our waitress ret and we told her that the food was only WARM. We didn’t want someone else to have the same experience as we did! I would have liked to talk to a man how that was not offered to us.Overall it was by far the worst experience in a restaurant in a long time.Sadly we will tell others of our experience & we will not be recommending the place to anyone.
Hofbrauhaus feels like everyday us Octoberfest! I would highly recommend reservations as this place was already packed at 5pm. Beer selection was ample. Starters were decent. Huge pretzel with dipping sauces was good. Cheese/cracker platter was lackluster. Our party of 6 ordered was very pleased with our individual meals. Schnitzel, sauerkraut, pork loin, brat, steak, spaetzle were among the favorites. Potato dumpling was bland. Overall, we loved our meals. Service (we had Lindsay as a server) was definitely en pointe. We werent rushed, food came out timely & hot and our drinks never went empty. (Next time, we are saving room for dessert!)
Let me start by saying they were very busy when we were there. We received our drinks and appetizer (giant pretzel) very quickly. Then the long wait began. Tables that sat after us had there food served and we were still waiting. We waited over an hour for the food to arrive. The food finally arrived and the pork sandwich was cold and the roll was burnt. It was black. Should have never left the kitchen. The kids noodles tasted like they had been sitting around for days. My meal was fine. It was nothing extraordinary. The chicken was hot the gravy was okay. The beer was good. Our server did her best and they did take the sandwich off the bill. If you want to go for beer, appetizer and fun with friends this would be a place to go. I will be avoiding it for dinners out in the future.
Even though the live music doesn’t happen on Monday’s and Tuesdays (for now), Dangster was an amazing waiter. He was so personable and generous, and kept bringing whatever we needed without us asking. He’s the best waiter we’ve had here, and we come every month with the stein club! The $9.99 weekday specials were good sized portions and we had a blast!
There are no words to explain this resturaunt, you just have to visit for yourself. This is an absolute must see if youre ever in Munich. The food is excellent and the beer is authentic. This place is filled with history and it feels like its been alive ever since it opened. This is hands down my most favourite resturaunt in the world. A one of a kind experience! I definitely recommend and I will always there at least once when Im over in Munich. 5/5 stars for quality and taste, 5/5 stars for service and 5/5 stars for the amazinf experience!
Justin was a one of the servers from last night and was amazing. Completely made the experience complete with his dancing, manners, and friendliness. Absolutely will be coming back and would recommend everyone to go at least once in their life. It was a incredible experience; 100/10
Ive been to Germany a few times since my gf is a native, and HB Buffalo didnt disappoint when I was craving some typische Deutsche Küche. Food was great, beer was great, and the waitress was really nice and even took a bit of time to chat with us about the beer and brewing. Didnt expect such quality from what is essentially a chain, I think. Im really excited to come back when the kitchen opens, I hope pfefferschnitzel will be on the menu. Nice job, and thanks, to everyone there!
Atmosphere is awesome servers put on a nice front but don’t really care to help you. Large party asked for separate checks were told no problem then just handed one and server walked away. Also my wife was hit in the head with a shot ski by a server. We called the manager over & he just said sarcastically “well what do you want me to call you an ambulance”
This place is soo much fun but the service is extremely hit or miss. I made reservations over a month in advance for my birthday celebration on April 3rd, 2022. We had a reservation for 10 people at 9:15pm. When I arrived with my group it took them over 20 minutes to clean/prep the table. Then when the host brought us to the table there were 2 people that were already sitting there. I proceeded to go back up to the host stand to verify that the table we were sat at was actually ours. She then realized she had sat us at the incorrect table, which is no worries its completely understandable mistakes happen. But was still an inconvenience. My friend had also had a reservation for 9:15pm and requested a table near by. She was never brought to table and was forgotten about. Our server was efficient, attentive and over all great. Though, i can not say the same for the security guards. The security were very rude. I didnt know the rule about sitting on the table and therefore when a spot light was pointed at me I was very confused as to what was going on until 2 security guards came up to me and proceeded to scream at me to get off the table. Other than that its a fun place. But it lacks of organization and over all customer service when it comes to the hosts and security guards is disappointing. I will probably go back but dont know if I would waste my time with a reservation.
The atmosphere here was lively and fun. This was my first time here for Dyngus Day celebration. The bar area had no stools at the bar to sit at. I’m not sure if that’s always the norm or not. The food is mediocre at best. I had the Kasespatzle which was like soupy macaroni and cheese. It came with a side salad that had no dressing on it. I was never asked about what dressing I would even like. I was with 2 other friends, one had the potatoe pancakes and said they were cold and tasted like hash browns slapped together.. My other friend had the roast beef sandwich which she said was good but could have been hotter as well. The owner who was pointed out to me seemed to not be friendly and looked annoyed all night. In fairness it was extremely busy and loud. We did not make anyone aware that food wasn’t great or send back as it was so busy.I think Buffalo has way better places to spend your $.
We were there tonight for the first time for their Cinco De Mayo celebration. A German band played festive tunes while we drank our blue margaritas out of takehome boot, ate nachos with sausage & did shots of tequila off long boards. Service was great, prices reasonable & every worker we encountered was friendly & helpful. Two thumbs up all around & 5 stars! We will definitely be back!!
Fun place with a lively atmosphere but the roof was leaking EVERYWHERE. Buckets tried to catch the drips but people in my group were dripped on all. night. long. So gross! We asked to move to a different table but not any better there either. Hate to think of what was dripping in peoples food!
Visited for the 1st time and will not be going back. The service from the bartenders and lack of professionalism is incredible sad. Sat there for 20 minutes with not being greeted. I was ordering for 6 of us and I can tell you none of us will be back. When I asked bartender if we could please be served, she would not look or even reply to me after repeated attempts. I was very very cordial and become frustrated with her 20 something the world owes me everything attitude. She was full of tattoos and did not want to be there. You ought to better vet your employees. You just know their attitudes and just do not care. Never again.
This is such a fun place. The food, facilities, and band were just marvelous. Our server was outstanding too. We highly recommend it. Be sure to save room for the strudel dessert. We went on a Wednesday night, it was a lot of fun, and still family friendly. Be sure to go when a band is playing, which the announce on social media.
Tonight was our first time visiting the restaurant. Dangster our server was the best server we have had in a long time. He was entertaining and had us laughing through our dinner. His outgoing personality definitely added positivity to the atmosphere. We will definitely be back and will ask to sit in his area! Thanks Dangeter!
Im from Germany. The food was not good. The Schnitzel was not freshly fried, probably microwaved, and the breading had a weird taste. The red cabbage also tasted funny. The Sauerbraten was dry. The only food that tasted good was the Nuernberger Bratwurst and the sauerkraut. Sorry, but Im not going there again.Update:I did send an email, as requested...no response...
We wanted to get to Hofbrahaus Buffalo to check it out! It is definitely a German themed restaurant / beer garden with live music, staff in German attire, German brews (brewed onsite), and a menu with German selections. The menu is somewhat limited and no kids menu in effect (although online it shows one). I believe they are still in the soft opening stage. The atmosphere was fun especially for a slow Tuesday night. Fri and Sat are prime time with a fuller house, dancing on tables etc.Staff were wearing masks and seemed to be on top of cleaning (Covid friendly). The food was fair but I am a little picky. The beef broth was just that (no meat and was not hot). The potatoe salad was cold. The beer was not cold enough for me, with only a handful of options. They will sample upon request. I did like the pretzel, spicy mustard and the brat. Service was slower than I would expect, given the patron to staff ratio. We would return to try it again on a weekend, especially now that we know what to expect. If you like German themed music, beer and food, this is a must. I hope they work the kinks out. Could be a lot of fun!P.,S. They have a mug club (stein with a special locker and key). Our server didnt seem very knowledgable on it. Said $200 a year and you get 10% off with some occasional perks.
Place is nice and big. Waiteess was very nice. The food was pretty good. Was kind of shocked that for such a big place there is a very small parking lot that they charge $5 to park. Otherwise you have to park on the street. Plsce could fit a lot of people but seriously where do you park?
Way too loud and obnoxious employees. Seems to be way over capacity as you cannot move. No fun. If you like e=waiting 30 minutes for a drink, have at it. None of the bartenders want to be there. Very annoyed with me us asking them for a drink. Really? Get you act together.
This place is a blast! A TON of seating inside and out. If you want to experience the band and really enjoy yourself then I recommend sitting inside. Parking is a bit limited. They have a lot connected to the building that charges $5 to park. (At least they did when I went, no idea if thats a normal all the time thing). Food was delicious! They are getting ready to launch their full food menu which Im excited to go back and try. Beer is also fantastic. Will definitely be back.
Dangster was our server and he is absolutely amazing. Awesome service and extremely friendly and outgoing. He definitely wants to make your time at Hofbrauhaus enjoyable and fun. I definitely recommend Dangster as your server and will totally come back to see him again. Great food and great service.
Really wanted to order.Went at 5p due to a show starting at 730 at key bank center. Figured 2 hrs would be good. Sat right away, got our drinks. Then sat until 640, no one came back to take our dinner order. Then, 6 people were seated right next to us, at a table designed for 6. We were elbow to elbow. No such thing as distancing. Very uncomfortable. Asked for the bill, went to the arena and got dinner there.
Food was great. Parking is good for Buffalo. Pretty authentic food. There was a live polka band, which is always a plus. And the barmaids... Beautiful. Just beautiful. Sweetest group of people ever. Kind, beautiful, thoughtful, and skilled. If youre going for the food, I recommend it. If youre going for the service, I urge you to go.
Excellent meal they do a grrrrrrr8 job with takeout chicken schnitzel was served on a bed of German potato salad very good, red cabbage was fantastic as were the mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. The pretzel with dips was fabulous. Well be back. They have vegetarian/vegan offerings too.
Fun atmosphere. Beer is great food was good. There were 10 of us at the table and the waitress was wonderful. Food was good, although I had the Currywurst and was a bit disappointed. Wrong type of sausage was used. They use a German style brat instead of the traditional hotdog style of sausage. Tasted good but not what I expected. Dont get me wrong, Ill be back.
Meh. No one at our table liked the food and it was all luke warm not one hot plate. We are a German family and did not think this place served good food. Looks German but the taste isn’t there. Waitress to busy to stop and check on anything. Disappointed as it should have been really fun but we were disappointed by the food and service the whole time we were there. Good money pit for overpriced beer. 12/4/2021.
Expect to pay for parking ($5) for convenience. Had reservations, immediately seated. Menu wasn’t massive but wasn’t small. If your like me and not very well cultured expect to google things like schnitzel and spätzel. On weekend live band played at 6, we were upstairs, very loud downstairs, depends if you wanna chill or party. Fun atmosphere, clean place, little pricey but it was a good time. I’d go back but not anytime soon, more of a special occasion place for me, your mileage may vary. I enjoyed our time there.
Youre there for the atmosphere, which is fun. The food was delicious but small portions and there wasnt a side. Service was friendly and welcoming. Beers were decent but I expected better. Band inside was cool and the place is huge.Update:I heard their kitchen was not totally up and running yet. So will be going again.
I honestly dont know what everyone is raving about. We ate here on a quiet Friday afternoon a couple of weeks ago. The decor was nice but there are only long wooden tables for groups in the beer hall style. No tables for two so you have to move the whole wooden bench to sit. My husband ordered a beer and a soft pretzel as an appetizer. It came with two mustards and a German cheese dip. The waitress asked if we wanted a beer cheese dip. We said yes. The charge was 3.50 for a dressing sized container making this an $18 pretzel. It was good but it was a standard soft pretzel. I ordered the schnitzel and my husband ordered a pork dish with mushroom gravy. It was very bland. I havent had a lot of German food so I dont know if this is normal but it had no flavor and no seasoning. We have had better food at the local Diner. And they had German music playing very loudly the whole time. I understand the music but I couldnt wait to leave because it was too loud. Then the bill came. For one beer, a pretzel,, two entrees and the tip it was $96.00. Yikes!. The only good thing was the waitress. She was very nice. The beer was good but they were out of the Harvest beer. Surprising considering it is Oktoberfest season. To boot you have to pay $5.00 to park in their lot. My husband was looking forward to coming here for a long time but we were both very disappointed..
If you’ve ever been to the Hofbrauhaus in Pittsburgh you will be vastly disappointed in the Buffalo location. The only thing German about this location is the beer and pretzels, and that’s a stretch. The menu has been incredibly Americanized and it’s not good. The menu is small and lacks a ton of German favorites. To start the “beer cheese” is basically solid, and tastes more like a garlic butter with a hint of cheese. It’s not horrible, just not beer cheese. My husband and I ordered the chicken dish with spatzle and the breaded pork with spatzle. The mushroom gravy is literally McCormick mushroom gravy with added mushrooms, and the breaded pork chop tastes like shake n bake. This same chicken dish in Pittsburgh consists of shredded chicken in a delicious mushroom wine sauce and it is amazing so I was very disappointed. Aside from all of this the food was incredibly bland and flavorless. We will not be back.
We were very impressed with the size and how great it was inside we went on a Friday afternoon it was not busy at all. Our waitress was great the beer and drinks were all good the only complaint is the food needs alot of work. I had sausage and a roll 10 inches the sausage was soooo small and the roll was way over size for it was like gummy bread. The sausage had no taste at all I actually ate only couple bites it was like it wasnt even cooked. My husband had the chicken sandwich again no taste.
Had reservation at 5:30 pm. Party of 4. Ordered potato pancakes as appetizer and soup. Everything came hour and 10 minutes later and everyone’s dish was cold. I ordered sauerbraten and it was supposed to come with sptazel and red cabbage. The meat was dry and it came with 2 big mounds of dough. We never saw our waitress after food was dropped of to ask question and we were going to concert. Will not come again.
Fathers day lunch with my crew. Sampled a couple of brews, typical German style, easy drinking. Pretzels and dips were a big hit and so were the strudels. Limited menu. Sausages kraut and potato salad were all good. Server said a more complete kitchen and menu were upcoming. Place was fairly quiet, I hope they get the business they deserve. Good spot for drinks and simple food.Good music and atmosphere servers were excellent and service was leisurely as we wanted it to be.
The building is huge, with great acoustics for the stage and a lovely outdoor section. The staff is extremely friendly and seem happy to be there. The food was great, the drinks are huge, and the bands are great. Expect to meet a few fun characters while you’re out. My grandfather is German, and he was nearly in tears when we sat down because it reminded him of his youth. Would highly suggest a lunch/dinner/evening here to anyone.
The place is cool and fun. The beer was cold and fresh. The food was lousy. My sauerbraten was hockey pucks. My spetzle was bone dry and flavorless. My wifes pork was so dry dust practically came out. Good service as well. Drive an hour and a half, Hoping to enjoy a great German meal and was sadly mistaken. Too bad.
I liked the atmosphere but the menu was limited. When they complete with the building of their kitchen they will be offering more choices on the menu. The music was fun though. Seating is available inside and out.The goulash was their German version which wasnt what I thought it would be. There were chucks of beef but they were not moist and easy to pull apart instead rather chewy. Chicken sausage was good. Cabbage salad and the house made soup were both good.
Go for the atmosphere, not for the mediocre food, or at least dont order the chicken sausage. Apple strudel does not compare to homemade, not much flavor, it was rather bland. The pretzel was the size of a dinner plate & the mustard had good horseradish kick. The live band was fun!
It took 11 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. She took our order, our food came, still no drinks. We went to the bar to get our own. We had to ask for dessert, it was not offered. Our bill came quickly though. The food came out fast and it was good. Three was a band and fun music.
The place is very cool, the design and decor feel like an old German hall. The service was very good. The food/menu could use some work. Not a full menu (due to them having a staffing shortage), but what they did have just wasnt that good. I would definitely go back and try again once they have a full menu. The portions for the price also didnt match up.On a side note, the sauerkraut was overpowerd with clove. Might want to use WAY less of it!Our server was great.
Had lunch at the Hofbraughaus for a belated birthday. First off the place was large, comfortable and clean. The waitstaff were very pleasant and quick. Our food arrived quickly but not pushing us. The food was amazing from start to finish. We look forward to going back and soon. Thank you for a great time.
DO NOT GO HERE. The atmosphere is awesome the staff is HORRIFIC. We had a group of 30 and made a reservation for three tables. Two tables were close to another and one was far away. We never complained about this but we were hoping a closer table might open up. Eventually one opened up near us I kindly asked the front of the house to let us sit there and a hand was put in my face, touching my nose. I felt extremely violated. I am so blown away by this that I would never ever spend a dime here. Go somewhere else!!!!!!! The front of the house was so NASTY. The management and security were out of line!!!!! The band and servers were amazing!!!!!! Highly suggest not going here if you don’t wan to be mistreated!!!!!!! They mistreated a party of 30 who were coming to spend a lot of money. They destroyed our night. Resurgence was amazing before hand.
I was so disappointed with everything about my experience here. The menu was very limited and took so long for our appetizers to come out that they actually came with the rest of the meal. The pretzels were the best part all of the other food and drinks were lackluster to say the least. The waitress was not very helpful and didn’t seem to care. I don’t even know if I would come back once their full menu is in place. What a shame!
What a great time ! Dont expect to be in and out in an hour ! Emerse yourself in the celebration of music, food and interaction with your dining party (the restaurant) ! Food is delicious, authentic German cuisine. Still fine tuning the flow, but be patient, its worth the wait. Our server, Ryan, was spectacular ! Had a wonderful way of making your experience one to remember and want to revisit again ! Parking is right next door ! $5 ! Come on !!!! Ideal place to take out of town guests, to celebrate a special occasion or just to let loose and shed all that stress from a hard week. Whether you participate in the celebration or just people watch, this is an experience not to be missed ! PROSIT !!!
Id give it 10 out of 5 stars if I could. We had an absolute fantastic time at the Haus. The beer is terrific and the German food is also. For such a huge place they do a great job keeping up the quality. Weve been to beer halls in Germany and this is just as good. Maybe better when you factor in the 15 piece Getman oom-pah band.
I was excited to try Hofbrauhaus and see what all the hub-bub was about. Unfortunately it was a disappointment from beginning to end. The couple of beers we tried were average. The giant pretzel was ordinary although the different mustards and cheese dips were good, probably the highlight of our visit. The menu is very limited, most of the choices sounded the same or very similar. The service was atrocious!!!! From the host who seated us to the general manager, the service was terrible and not just for us, but for most of the tables around us. They are following COVID guidelines to the very minimum at best, and not enforcing their guests to whatsoever. We couldnt have ordered a second beer even if we had wanted to, and eventually almost ended up leaving money on the table with a guess at how much the bill was because our waitress disappeared along with the rest of the staff. The patio was busy, but not packed by any means. Not sure if they were holding an impromptu staff meeting on Saturday afternoon?? We will not be returning! Too many GREAT local craft breweries and pubs with amazing service to waste our time and money on suck a gimmick.
My buddy Matt sums this place up best, Once you get two litters of beer in you this place starts to make a lot of sense. If you dont like live music, karaoke, and/or have less than two litters of beer in you, then this place is 3 stars. After 2 litters this place is the best place to be.Food is a bit pricy, but good. Waitstaff is chill af.
Interior is gigantic. Long bench tables that can hold hundreds. Very reminiscent of Oktoberfest (as seen on TV). I started with the Dark and Stormy rum drink. Not much of a beer drinker so I apologize to those that wanted to hear about that. As for drinks, that was a good one. There was a pink alcoholic drink (forgot name) with a raspberry garnish that was sweet and fruity. My entree was the Wurstplatte but was more like the Best Plate. Though the Vienna sausages were similar to hotdogs, they were great with the spicy mustard that came with the plate. The stars were the pork and chicken sausages. Extremely flavorful with a peppery bite. I practically inhaled the mashed potatoes so I definetly approve. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. For those that are still concerned with Covid, I noticed guests were put on every other table so that should help with social distancing.
Wow, what a HUGE disappointment. Our Server Grace was a bust. Our order was screwed up, 1/2 of us ate and then 20 minutes later the rest of us received our meals. We had NO napkins and she never came back to get us drinks, ask us how our meals were, etc. We went to the Manager at the hostess stand to try to get our check and to-go boxes. We had explained what had happened with our meals and had hoped for a simple apology, nothing more. He said nothing at all except that he would get us our bill. We were so excited to try it out and we will most likely never return. Food was average at best - the warm pretzel was probably the best thing on the menu. Not a fan!
Hofbrauhaus is one of my fave restaurants!! Coming from Pittsburgh, I was so excited Buffalo’s location opened. A friend and I went last week and it was great. Our server was Ryan and he ROCKED!! He had us laughing all night. I was on-call until 7pm, he came over at 7:05 and was cheering handing me a beer. Food was good, beer always so good. Looking forward to when the full menu is ready!
Because my Captain had been to the original Hofbrahaus in Munich, I treated him to birthday dinner at Buffalos Hofbrahaus. He enjoyed it. But first I paid $5 to park. We were seated at a high top table ( Im 5 ft) and couldnt have a conversation because it was so loud! The band was good, the crowd was exuberant and beer was...beer. The menu was much more limited than what was posted online, and though it was good it was about what one would expect at a chain restaurant. Cheesecake for dessert had only an artistic drizzle of tasteless raspberry sauce and there was no cream for the coffee (except that sugary vanilla stuff, ugh!) Total bill including tip...$125.00 Pretty hefty price tag.
We went on a Saturday at 3 pm. Initially, chose to just have a drink at the bar. Awesome German beer selection and full bar. There was a band playing, and our group of 5 wanted to sit down near the band to join in on the fun.Went back up to the hostess, and they more or less shamed us for not having a reservation. They told us they only had 1 table available, “the rest were reserved and we were expecting 180 people in less than an hour”. The entire building was more or less empty, and the one table they had available was the furthest away from the band and in a corner. We stayed until 430, a half hour past when the full hall was expected to be full. Easily 45-55% of the hall still was vacant. I understand the venue gets busy and reservations are recommended. The employees are just following protocol set forth from management.Note to management: not every single reservation will show up day after day. Please the customers that’re in your establishment! To put 100% focus on expected guests and turning away people that are already there in your establishment is a business model that’ll sink.
A large venue with a German style thats a great place to visit. due to a soft opening and limited selection of both food and beer it still has a nice selection to choose from. I had the sausage, potato salad and saurquart, all very good. the wait staff was attentive and helpful and made you feel welcome. they hope to be fully opened by December. totally enjoy listening to the live music, will definitely go back
Probably one of the worst dining experiences weve ever had. Our one friend at the table forgot his ID, so decided not to drink. Seemed like every manager on duty was swarming our table watching us to make sure we didnt slip him a beer. Even watching us on the balcony. Then they brought out over 21 wrist bands and only gave them to our table. Food took forever to get then when we finally were able to get our bill after over an hour the bill was messed up. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Period
Called for reservations, waited to get a table by stage on main floor. Got seated in sports bar area, separated from the experience. I spent 8 years in Germany, wanted a positive experience for my family. The bartender, an asst manager, not very helpful and condescending. He also served me a weißen bier in a mug instead of a weißen bier glass. What kind of training did they receive? Positive note the Waitress Kari saved the night. Wont come back here, the one in Vegas is far better, although still cant replicate the one in München.Post Note... In the end they redeemed themselves a little because of Kari. Also the food and bier were authentic.
Well we like this place alot. Till today. We arrived as soon as it opened at 4pm. We just came from work wanting to relax and have a beer. Then waited about 10 min for waitress to come over. We ordered our drinks. Also ordered a pretzel right away. Took another 10 min. Also when the drinks did finally arrive. My husbands beer was wrong. people arrived 15 to 20 min after us. Got their pretzel. Their drinks.from a different waiter. Also the table behind us also. We called over manager. She had no idea what was going on. Then our waitress said the people in the kitchen lost our order. Yes we were Givin a free pretzel. But the Hassel to get what we asked for was nothing relaxing.
We split the platter with different sausages over sauerkraut they were good however no sides would have enjoyed spatzel or potato pancakes the bartender said they were coming lived in germany when i was in the military and a starch of some sort is a given. The service and the staff was very good, hopefully the sides come to fruition, the beer was great i would recommend with an asterisk.
Specifically went @ 5:00pm for for Oktoberfest Bier (Festbier) & Dinner. Festbier was SOLD OUT LAST NIGHT...WHAT?!?...Ordered mugs of Original instead (Very good). Giant pretzel & Obatzde cheese great! Potato pancakes GREASY. Pork Schnitzel & Mushroom Sauce great, but Spaetzle COLD even with added gravy. Würstplatte ok, but Mashed potatoes... BITTER aftertaste...like dehydrated packaged tastes! Sauerkraut & Potato Dumpling fell flat= TASTELESS! Apple Strudel great; with lots of apple. (would pair well with Riesling). Service just okay. Very disatisfied overall...expected better; especially with early seating!...Im sticking to Bier & Pretzels only from now on...
I had high hopes and was quickly disappointed when seated in the beer hall and the music was TOO loud.....as in unbearably loud. So loud that my parents and I were shouting at each other just to be heard. I must say, however, the atmosphere was terrific and the music was great, had the volume of the music not been SO incredibly overbearing (mind you, I am a music blaster, so this is saying a lot). Sadly, we had to move to a table outdoors just to be comfortable and to enjoy each others company. Another negative was the food. It was not terrible, but also not great (representative of a chain I suppose). Everything is already prepared and we received our dinner orders in less than five minutes.....we actually told the waitress the food wasnt ours when it came out because there was no way the food was ready.....but it was. We didnt even have time to enjoy a drink. A few tweaks and the place will be more enjoyable, including the servers and the business to make more money if they slow down the food delivery (think alcohol sales....its where you make the money, should be a no-brainer).
Went for dinner October 29th, and they still had the limited menu available. Food was hot and fresh but I was left wanting more of a variety, the only item they didnt have on the menu but was offered was potato soup which my girlfriend said was good. Nice cold beer, good German feel to this beautiful establishment, our waitress was great, and Im sure once the full menu is in effect Ill update from 4 to 5stars👌
When we 1st walked in the atmosphere was fun the band was playing people were singing. We were seated right away but then waited over 12 minutes for someone to come to our table to even take a drink order, FYI we were sitting 5 from the bar. We ordered one beer and 1 ice tea. Our food showed up 1st then our waitress delivered the beer but never my ice tea. So I went up to the bar and got it myself. The part that was a little frustrating for me was 3 waitresses, including ours, standing at the end of an empty bar chatting up the bartender while we sat and waited for service. I must say though that the food was really good. But overall experience was not great.
Dad and I waited about an hr for a table at 6:15 on a Friday night. Worth it. Place is very well done and cant wait for it to be fully operational. Sausages, beer, and hot pretzel were good, which works because thats the extent of their menu at the moment. Great atmosphere and music as expected. Glad Haufbrauhaus has finally landed in Buffalo!!
The last time I was in the Hofbrauhaus was 49 years ago, that being at the original Hofbrauhaus in Munich Germany. This new one in Buffalo is a terrific interpretation of the original! The beer steins are a full liter which is great, they are glass however instead of the originals which were of a heavier ceramic or clay. They still hold a ton of beer which is the important part. The beer hall feel is intact and you may share a table with strangers, but you will soon be friends after everyone has a couple beers and sings Ein Prosit there or four times. Standing on your bench to sing is mandatory. We had a couple of small dishes to share as our main thrust was drinking. But the bratwurst and sausages in sauerkraut were terrific and so were the pretzels. The house oompah band stopped playing at 9 pm so that was disappointing. Be sure to go earlier to get more of the authentic Bavarian vibe while the band is playing. But go you must!
First time here not really impressed. Place is overpriced and the food was bland. Waitress was gone for ages and took forever to order drinks. Wouldn’t recommend this place with the COVID restrictions also, couldn’t even walk up to the bar to order a drink without getting turned away. Music was way too loud, couldn’t even have a simple conversation with my friend who was right next to me. You need at least 3 of those liters of beer to actually enjoy this place.
Busy and loud. Very limited menu. If youre a vegetarian, theres not many options for you. I stopped by when they had an event going on and even the hostess said their menu was even more limited. We ended up sharing a pretzel and having a beer and went somewhere else for a meal.
Very noisy, couldnt talk to friends, how can that be fun, liked polka band but again too loud, menu limited, food ok but pricey for little you got, no sides, peope standing on benches, folks running around without masks. The excuse is covid and kitchen renovations for poor menu. Why open or at least lower prices if you arent ready to provide for customers. Service was very slow, had to talk to another waitress to get our waitress to come back for another round of drinks.

2022-06-28Having lived in Germany, I was a little skeptical going in, but was pleasantly surprised with the great food, the great beer, and the great atmosphere. We celebrated a birthday here, complete with very authentic tasting Black Forest Chocolate Cake and a full liter of beer in a stein! Ask for Dangster as your server. This gentleman not only has great recommendations, but is also jovial and colorful, adding to the experience!

2021-12-28Great take on German beer hall, but I feel the food is not the reason you come here. Loudlive music, this place has a party atmosphere along with the theme is drinking beer out of huge steins and shooters of ski-shaped serving boards.Schnitzel plates were in the mid-to-high twenty dollar range which I would rate a 8/10. Sauerkraut and pretzels are must-tries. Food has improved markedly since the place opened.

2022-05-21This is a German-inspired restaurant/bar with a great atmosphere. The long wooden tables are all the same, which can accommodate up to 8 people. I got a platter that had a little of everything (shown) and it fed 4 people just fine with leftovers. A great spot to visit that has periodical live music (i went at 2:30 pm on a Saturday and they had a live band playing!

2022-01-29What a great atmosphere! The band was fun, though it was so loud it was hard to understand them. The noise was a bit overwhelming, and its nearly impossible to talk across a table. The food was absolutely phenomenal, and the beer was delicious! Our waitress was great at the beginning of our evening. She checked in a few times, brought our food VERY quickly, but left us without refills on drinks or water for the remainder of the meal. Then it was close to a half hour after finishing our meal before we finally got our bill. Other than that it was a fantastic place with truly delicious food!

2022-03-25Tried this place for the first time on a Sunday afternoon and it was very busy. The restaurant has a huge seating area. At the time of our visit there was a live band playing and the speakers were incredibly loud. Even after the band finished the music playing on the sound system was very loud. The waitress was able to re-seat us somewhere a little quieter but I would not recommend this place if you are uncomfortable with loud sounds or want to hear the other people in your party. The service was excellent, which made the visit so much better. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a great selection of German foods. Their pretzels are huge and delicious. I tried the jagerschnitzel. The meat was nice and tender, the mushroom gravy had a good flavor, and the onions were nice and crispy. My boyfriend got the currywurst, which was flavorful, and one of their big pretzels. For desert we split the apfelstrudel, which was rich and sweet. I would definitely recommend all of those dishes. This place feels more like a tourist attraction than anything else. The food prices are high. You are paying for the experience as much as the meal.

2022-03-18Great German restaurant around downtown Buffalo. Went there during weekday for dinner and it was a little busier. They had live music playing, it was quite loud inside but really enjoyed the music. Ordered the Bayerische Spezialitaten Platte (couldn’t pronouns the name so ordered by the number 206). It was really tasty and fresh, enjoyed their sauerkraut. Overall, great first time experience German food.

2022-02-12So happy we finally came here! Everything was delicious!!Reuben, special of the day: mushroom soup-YUM, sausage platter, weisswurst?, fresh and crisp salad, chicken sausage with buttery sauerkraut and streusel! The only con was that our family of 8 was trying to talk and the music was loud, so if you are trying to have serious convo’s, might be tough 🤷♀️ still had convos but just so you know what to expect.Waitress great, music great, prices as expected and atmosphere, FUN! Food-OMGGGGGG!!! So good! Loved it!

2022-06-23The place was good, has a parking lot right next to it but it costs $5. The food is good, The beer is tasty and large, the place has live music and is a party. Also for the more discerning guests. The German barmaid outfits the girls wear is quite nice.
