Holiday Inn Express & Suites Batavia - Darien Lake, an IHG Hotel in Batavia
Categories
Location on the map
Batavia, Genesee County, New York, US
This by far has been the best Holiday Inn Express I have stayed in. The staff here is amazing and service ranks higher that some of the fancier places I have stayed . If you traveling in Central New York and are near the Town of Batavia, stop in at the Holiday Inn Express, you wont be disappointed!
Positive: The only reason why I came to this hotel was because my children live in the area and I was told that there was a pool. When I got there I was told that the pool wasn¿t open but the next door hotel allows the guest to use theirs! That was not true. Negative: When I got into my hotel it was 54° and there was a washcloth in a towel that had been used in my bedroom, and the front desk was not even apologetic
Was a very nice room but there was no refrigerator. Perhaps it did not come with one. The vending machines were mostly empty. We had to wait upon arrival because our room had not been cleaned yet. Staff shortage. Other than that, the breakfasts were very nice. The cafe was clean. The furnace/air conditioner worked well. Overall, the stay was very enjoyable. The staff members were all friendly and helpful.
The staff at the front desk were wonderful. Unfortunately our first room had peeling wallpaper with what looked like mold behind it. There was a bad odor in the hallway. The breakfast was terrible, just pastry and cereal, nothing hot. The fitness center was nice. Our room was clean, but there was no hand soap in the bathroom. The hallway floors were dirty. I would not attempt to even consider using the pool.
We had to stay because our house lost power due to a wind storm. It was my wife, her adult sister, our 2 kids and I. I was worried about the amount of space our room would have. But the 5 of us slept comfortably and had plenty of space to move around. A very nice home away from for the night!
Good Sleep, short on everything elseDefinitely not worth the price. Provided a good night sleep, but nothing else. rooms had little to no furniture, no chairs, no couches, so hope you like sitting on a bed. NO FRIG . NO MICROWAVE .. but no food in the hotel pantry either, so didnt matter much. NO HOT breakfast, COVID cop-out. Staff was quick to fix and very pleasant and nice. But I feel like if they serviced the rooms, maybe I wouldnt have to go to the front desk and ask for TP or tissues, 30 minutes after I checked in.Overall, solid night sleep, with terrific AC units pumping cold air. So if that is what you need, 100% good, but I bet you can find that at a much cheaper price.
We do a lot of traveling by car across the US and always look for the best deal based on our budget. We have been disappointed from time to time but find out you don’t always get what you expected based on the cost! Holiday Inns are worth the extra cost in our budget provided they’re located where we plan to stop. We will go reasonably out of our way in per suite of a better deal. Holiday Inns are always a first choice! We look forward to our next trip and hopefully there’ll be a Holiday Inn near by! Thanks Holiday Inn for making our trip a “holiday”!
My kids and I recently stayed over night (july8th) and had a great experience. When walking in, instantly impressed with friendly staff and decor of hotel. Our room was immaculate and the housekeeper left a sweet note welcoming us. Now the shampoo/conditioner/bed gel/lotion provided is AMAZING! I have been searching since I left to purchase some for my house. The beds/bedding was the best we have ever slept on (both kiddos agreed). My kids definitely loves the pool! The water was clean and a great temperature. It being an inside pool was a plus as it rained during the evening. Check out was seamless with my bill being placed under my door overnight. We never felt rushed to vacate like with some hotels. Would 100% stay again (plan to sept/Oct) and would 100% recommend to friends and family..already have. My only complaint is the to-go breakfast options. Im diabetic and there was nothing to accommodate that. Everything is heavy with carbs
I would like to state that the receptionist was very nice. But everything else sucked. The whole place just feels and looks dirty. We stayed on the second floor, the first room we were sent to had (seemingly) dead bed bugs on the mattress. We immediately got out and had to ask for another room since it was already late and everywhere else was booked. The receptionist upgraded us to a King room which still felt dirty, there were two almonds on the floor so obviously the cleaning staff doesn’t do their job. I’m very surprised this hotel has any good reviews. This is our 4th hotel on this vacation and definitely the worst. Do NOT waste your money here. Also very close to the highway and pretty noisy.
Was very disappointing stay. Room supplies were barely adequate-no hand soap, tea and coffee looked as it had been there through several stays and only 3 sets towels for 2 people. Thermostat appeared locked down and could not be adjusted blowing cold air, curtains were off the rod-this experience not the usual Holiday Inn standards at all. Front desk personnel sporadic. Ran out of hot breakfast items by 8:15 a.m. and were told they’d had a busy weekend and weren’t prepared. Poor excuse at 8:15 a.m. We realize the pandemic has impacted employee availability but some of this was avoidable. We will not stay at this one again and won’t recommend.
The main reasons that I booked this hotel (breakfast, pool, fridge) were what disappointed me most. The pool was small, cold, and had several clumps of hair in it. The hot breakfast as advertised was non-existent. No refrigerator in room which was very inconvenient since we needed some things refrigerated from our road trip. Every time we called down to the front desk, no one answered. The room was huge, seemed clean enough, and the mattresses were comfortable, but thats pretty much the only good thing about this place. Would likely not stay here again.
We had chosen Holiday Inn Express as our go to hotel during our recent extended vacation. This visit has caused us to rethink that choice. Our room was fine, and actually thats the most important, but the common areas of the hotel needed some attention. Breakfast was a HUGE disappointment. We arrived at 8:30 (breakfast was from 7:00 until 10:30) and many items were no longer available including all of the hot breakfast items. The front desk staff informed us that there was no breakfast attendant, so no more items would be put out that day.
In general I would simply say that this is a hotel that is not well kept. The first room, yes the first, was not newly renovated and in bad shape. The shower and sink drains drained water ridiculously slow. This allowed for the dreaded dirt from my shower to gather around my feet and ankles…Ewwww. Secondly, the HVAC unit was not cooling properly. It was hot and muggy and miserable in our room.We waited until the next morning to report the issues. The staff person was fantastic. She immediately gave us a new room. The new room was much better than the last. Newly renovated, clean floors, available microwave and refrigerator, working air conditioning and properly draining tubs and sink.
The new management of this property was extremely helpful with an issue we encountered during our stay. However there are still issues to be ironed out. When we arrived in our room one of the beds was not made, and the other bed had makeup stains on the sheets and pillow cases. The bathroom had hair in the sink and crumbs on the back of the toilet. Housekeeping is obviously not up to basic standards let alone COVID-19 enhanced cleaning. I understand having grab and go items for breakfast, however there could be more variety in the items offered.
WORST HOTEL EVER!! If we could rate 0 stars we would. We arrived around 11pm, and were greeted by the single staff member in the ENTIRE hotel, who had not yet been trained and was left ALONE on her second day. When we made it up to our room, we discovered it was not the room we had booked, and that there were only two small beds, for the 6 of us!! We had booked a room with two queens and a pull out sofa, but we’re shocked to find this was not what we had been given. When we alerted the SINGLE staff member, we were informed that they had planned on bringing a roll away bed into the room (again not what we booked or paid for). The staff member had in fact not brought this bed into the room and informed us that we needed to wait for the night manager to drive over. We were left tired and annoyed at the situation as it was almost 11:30pm and we had driven hours that day. We were told that we could PURCHASE ANOTHER ROOM AT FULL PRICE if we did not want to wait for the night manager. We declined, and were told we needed to wait in that room for 45 minutes without a bed until the night manager arrived. this was ridiculous but we agreed and waited. we have smaller children in our family that needed to sleep, so we put them in the bed we did have and waited patiently. After an HOUR AND A HALF (12:30 am at this point) the night manager finally arrived, she did not greet us, apologize, or make eye contact with us. She instead seemed annoyed, even after we had been so patient. She arrived late only to bring the smallest twin sized rollaway bed, when we were told we would be getting a queen sized bed. This was ridiculous and we DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel.
We had reserved a king room. When we checked in the clerk said that king beds were only on the first floor. That has not been our experience at other Holiday Inns. We were able to get a room with 2 queens on the fourth floor which was fine with us. When we got to our roomwe found no refrigerator or microwave. The desk clerk said that rooms with 2 beds did not have frigs. We have stayed in dozens of Holiday Inns over the last 20 years and dont ever remember not having a frig. If this was an economy motel I could understand. In the last 2 months we have stayed 9 nights at Holiday Inns, never without a refrigerator or a microwave. My advise, plan ahead.
I stayed at this hotel twice in one week. I wish I had booked my second stay elsewhere. The carpet in the room looked like it had not been vacuumed- there was unidentified food scraps on the floor. The afternoon receptionist was the same one I encountered one week prior. Like the previous week, she was not welcoming, so I assume that she wasnt just having a bad day the first time. When I approached the front desk (my heart sank when I saw her) she never smiled or asked for my name. When I told her my name she said theres no reservation for that name. When I showed her my printed confirmation all she said was If you completed the advanced check-in online I have no way of knowing that. What?? Then she started staying what sounded like Stephen, not in a question, just what sounded like Stephen which is nowhere close to my first or last name. I asked her to repeat herself twice. Again she just said what sounded like the word Stephen but since that isnt my name and she never said anything like Is your last name Stephen? I had no idea what she was referring to. To be fair she was wearing a facemask because this happened during the pandemic, but she could have said something other than just the single word stephen. Like the previous week, she didnt say a word, just pushed my room key across the counter. She shouldnt work in hospitality. However, the front desk receptionist when I checked out the following morning was very pleasant, smiling, wished me a good day and a safe drive. The free breakfast is some fresh fruit, packaged muffins, yogurt, packaged granola bars and juice boxes, not much better than a vending machine. The coffee in the room was horrible! I used fresh water and a Keurig cup, but it was the worst coffee Ive ever tasted. Had to toss it and find a Dunkins or Starbucks. My room was on the back of the building. At 3am I was awakened by a loud thumping sound, like something heavy being dropped. The loud thumping noise occurred about every 30 seconds. This went on for about 30 min. I finally got out of bed since I was now fully awake, looked out the window and saw 18 wheeler trucks with lights on that were backed up to loading docks. I know the hotel cant control nearby business activities, but if youre staying at this hotel ask for a room on the front of the hotel, not the back. Not sure Ill every stay at this location again.
The bathroom was my disappointment. It had obviously experienced some type of water damage on the ceiling, we were on the top floor. I woke up expecting to take a hot shower and there was NO hot water in the shower. I had noticed previously that it took a long time for the water to get hot in the sink, but it eventually did. So, I thought I would try the same with the shower - NOPE. Thought I would try different settings on the handle - NOPE. Lets just say it was like jumping into glacier waters to wash my hair.... BRRR Not happy. The bathroom ceiling was recently patched and sanded, evident by all the white dust on the showerhead. Not painted, yet.The beds were comfortable, it was quiet, no hot breakfast due to COVID, and my child enjoyed the pool.
The breakfast was extremely disappointing. The refrigerator only had single serving soy milk every morning of our 5 night stay. “Fresh fruit “ consisted of just oranges. They said that because of COVID there were limited breakfast items. I think this was a convenient excuse to save money. We have stayed at other Holiday Inn Expresses during and after “COVID” and have had the hot breakfast as advertised. We decided we had to eat our breakfasts out. No one seemed to be enjoying their breakfasts here either. We asked for small things to be done in our room too…like change out a burnt out bulb and it never got done or empty our wastebaskets. The wastebaskets finally got done the 2nd to last day.
The room was fine, but the entire 2nd floor hall smelled very bad, like moldy. The elevator carpets were filthy and smelled. The afternoon receptionist shouldnt work in hospitality. She wasnt rude, but she was not welcoming either - no smile, didnt tell us how to get to the elevator, which is not obvious because the elevator is not in the lobby. She never gave information on the breakfast hours or anything, and merely pushed the room key across the counter at me without saying anything.
I used rewards for 1 night to attend a funeral in the area. I had called in advance to make sure the pool was open , which it was but it was a bit chilly to use. I was also disappointed that the business center wasnt working and the fitness center was not open. These are all amenities that are important to me and determine where I book my overnight stays. The staff were professional and the rooms were clean for an older hotel.
We arrived to check in, the staff was very courteous but disorganized. It was apparent that they were understaffed which I empathized with. I believe the individual which checked us in was also cleaning rooms. Several items needed to be addressed. The comforter was stained with coffee and the pillows were horrible costing us a nights sleep. I didnt report this as I realized staff was working multiple jobs and clearly overwhelmed. I was impressed with the staff stepping up to cover the personal shortage.
Stayed one night to go see the Darien Lake Light Show- check in and check out were super easy, hotel was nice and quiet, room was clean and smelled fantastic- whatever air freshener they use is awesome. Breakfast was more of a continental deal because of covid but we are 100% fine with a little pancake sacrifice for safety. Beds are always so comfy- I am on a never ending quest to find pillows even half as comfy as the ones they use at Holiday Inn Express. In safer times we travel quite a bit and stay at Holiday Inn Expresses whenever we can- never had a bad experience at a single one, and nice to see this location is no exception.
I checked in for a two week stay after leaving the grocery store just to find out that this hotel does not provide a fridge and microwave in any rooms other than the king suits. that they are sold out of. then had to ask for house keeping three days in a row before anyone would take care of my room, very disappointing, out of 263 nights in an IHG hotel have i ever received such poor service.
We arrived for breakfast at 9:00 a.m. to find no hot food, breakfast did not end until 10:00 a.m. The staff told us that no more food would be brought out because the oven was closed for 3 hours for cleaning. At least 15 more guests arrived after us to find no hot food. It was very disappointing. ALSO the pool heater was broken, 4 upset kids ugh.
I had a Guaranteed reservation With the H brand hotel which is also owned and operated by those that own and operate the Holiday Inn Express. Apparently when they have rooms left at the HIE and are sold out at the H brand they oversell the H brand and refuse to honor the requirements of a Guaranteed reservation and just send you to their other property the Holiday Inn Express and make you pay there. Had I known when I made my reservation that the H brand I booked wasnt available I would have planned to continue my journey to Rochester where rooms were available and where my plane reservation was to depart the next day. It was after 10pm so I acquiesced to their tactics. It was explained to me that this is what the operator does whenever the rates are high and they can get away with it.
I’ve stayed here several times. This time was terrible!! My stay was for 8 nights. No breakfast, no cleaning services, I had to change my own sheets and the dirty shower curtain from the previous guests. I had to go to the front desk to get towels. The floors were dirty around the coffee station and they were always out of something….I will never stay here again. The day staff was great but the night staff was terrible.
So im a Spire member and Ive stayed here alot. Its a really nice hotel and very clean but I have take some stars off for inconvenience. I had no hand soap, no microwave and fridge. I called and asked them why I had no fridge and microwave, their response was we had to pull it for another guest who was staying longer than I was. My question is why isnt their enough for every room? These rooms arent the cheapest so why are any rooms lacking?
There was no breakfast besides stale bagels and English muffins, the “hot” water for tea was barely warm, the hotel community areas were dirty, we had to get our own towels and other supplies when they ran out in our room, no one answered the phone at the main lobby when needed, they were out of just about everything and clearly understaffed. I felt bad for the employees who seemed to be there for hours and hours with no help.
Specifically picked Hotel to take my grandson swimming... and pool was closed, yet Priceline accepted it as one of 2 specified filters. Woke up around 6:30 to a dog barking. Thought it my imagination but nope, saw the dog while working out in the gym. For $182.00 I expected the double queen room and got a king, which years ago would have been ok, but my grandson is 9 now and on verge of inappropriate.and wall paper peeling off walls in bathroom. The staff were super nice. But when you pay for an advertised ammenity it should be there. I could have used my hilton points and stayed at the Hampton Inn across the street.
Room was clean, did not have mini fridge in room which was an issue for us with an infant needing milk, staff was friendly, breakfast was lacking due to covid prepackaged stuff no buffet hot meals, pool time has to be scheduled due to covid so we did not use it, walls are thin so you can hear neighbors, first night was very loud next two nights where quiet. Over all would stay again, we didnt stay in our room much only to sleep and shower then back out. WalMart, target, other shopping, and gas stations within 5 min drive.
A two star hotel that is deserving of a two star rating. First, the breakfast was an absolute joke, and the hotel should not advertise breakfast if they are not actually going to put a reasonable one out. Cereal with no milk (just soymilk), Toast with no toaster, a non functioning juice machine with mold on the bottom. Coffee barely full. Choices were basically fruit, yogurt, and English muffins. Second, COVID should not be an excuse anymore to not offer at least some level of day cleaning services to at least make a bed and replenish towels, last I checked this is still a hotel, not a motel or an airbnb. Third, when my wife went to request more bath towels, they told her they were out. Since when has a hotel never had enough towels for its guests? Their solution was to go to the pool and get her pool towels that were very small. On a positive note the bed was very comfortable, unfortunately the hotel is a little too close to the highway so you do tend to here a lot of ambiant noise if you are a light sleeper. If these hotels want to stay in business against airbnb, they better start getting their act together. Overall, this was a completely unacceptable experience even for a two star hotel.
We were traveling overnight to pick up calves in Wyoming,NY and this hotel was great. Easy in and out with 40 foot cattle trailer and the place was quiet and clean. We normally get overheated during the night in hotels but this one was the most comfortable I’ve been in
We had a great overnight stay at Holiday Inn Express Batavia, NY. The room and entire hotel were very clean, Trish at the front desk was AMAZING and everything was very comfortable. Its close by to many restaurants and a number of stores if you need to pick something up. The price was incredibly reasonable for the value.
Had no bar soap to wash hands in middle of pandemic there was mold in the shower and the carpets thru out looked like they havent been cleaned in weeks there was dirty hand prints all over the elevator .the manger on duty Sarah I believe her name was very pleasant and apologetic but the hotel didnt meet the standards I expect from holiday inn I always choose these hotels when traveling because of the standards you get most times
We called from another hotel that was so bad we were there only a couple hours. Trish was friendly and great to work with and got us in right away. It was clean and smelled good. The kids were able to swim evert every night.Lex was always running around and helping so much. We really enjoyed our stay!! Thank you!
My room was fine, and due to low occupancy the hotel was nice and quiet. The grab and go breakfast was adequate considering the pandemic restrictions. However, I dont understand why they cannot provide an urn of coffee for the guests in the morning. When I inquired at check in, the front desk clerk said there are Keurig coffee makers in each room. I mentioned that I dont always like to use these as I have found them to sometimes be unsanitary in the past. She was a little indignant and said they are cleaned every day. She obviously does not stay in hotels as often as I do. Next trip I will be staying at a different hotel, directly across the parking lot.
The hotel itself is beautiful and the beds are very comfortable however the overnight staff is very rude and dressed unprofessionally looking like she just woke up wearing a baggy sweatshirt. We booked the room only to be able to use the pool, I called earlier in the afternoon prior to booking to explain that we wouldn’t be arriving until about 9-9:30pm and asked when the pool closed, the woman on the phone assured me that the pool closes at 11 but there’s no official cleaning crew that comes in so they wouldn’t have a problem letting us into the pool as long as we weren’t going to be loud which I assured her we wouldn’t it was just my fiancé and I, upon checking in I explained this to the front desk girl and she also so it would be no problem and if we couldn’t get in with our key card then to just come get her and she would let us in. We went to dinner and then to Walmart to grab some bathing suits and came back and the overnight staff was there at the desk, our key card did not work to get into the pool so I talked to the girls at the desk and she was very rude and unprofessional and said absolutely not and said she had no idea what I was talking about and that the pool closes at 11 and there was nothing she would or could do about it and proceeded to make it seem like I was lying about the previous discussions I had with the two other front desk women. Come morning time we were woken up to housekeeping trying to get into our room at 9:15 when checkout is not until 11am.
From the moment you walk into the lobby, you can feel the can do attitude of the staff. Pamela, the front desk attendant, greeted me with a big welcome and a smile. She checked me in, greeted me as a platinum member, made sure all my preferences were filled and was off to the room within 2 minutes. A short walk to the elevator exposed the newly remodeled lobby and common areas. Arriving at the room, the key card worked (always a crapshoot at other chains) opened the door and I knew I was going to be comfortable. Everything in the room was fresh, inviting and the coffee maker was calling. The bathroom was spotless and very well lit. All the standard amenities were in place. Fast forward to morning. Went downstairs for breakfast. Typical breakfast items. Everything was hot/cold and the dining area was spotless. The thing that impressed me was the tranquility of the room. The property is practically next to the Thruway but heard absolutely none of the highway traffic....normally, a common problem.
We booked this room from the turnpike to arrive an hour later. The staff was friendly and quick to get us a room. The hotel surprised me how big the room was and updated as well. I was expecting an older property way out here, but was pleasantly surprised. The front desk helped us with a map of the area and showed us a couple places to eat dinner. We took a risk on a place called Alexs just across the highway. Again, pleasantly surprised on the food and friendliness of the locals there at the restaurant. I would definitely stay here again, if I come back this way.
We wee there for soccer tryouts. Hotel was clean and staff went out of there way to make sure our stay was great especially since COVID-19 was going on. Breakfast was grab and go best they could do with COVID but it was pretty good. Close to many things and room was comfortable and will being staying again come next july.
I have intense Holiday Inn loyalty when selecting a hotel for our leisure stays around the US & Canada, However, this Batavia, NY, location is not up to our usual expectations: * We were not recognized for being IHG Reward Club Members. * We were told that breakfast would be available up to 10 am (Saturday) and was closed by 9:30 am. * We were told that we could have a one hour extended check out time, and was interrupted by the chamber maid at 11:15. Our room cleanliness was acceptable, but the room did not come standard with a refrigerator or microwave as advertised, and the common areas of the hotel were sub standard for daily vacuuming of the carpets.
No concerns regarding hotel cleanliness and all staff were in proper PPE. Everyone was pleasant. Easy check in and out.Only concern was the trucking company behind the hotel loading trucks at 5AM- woke us from a great sleep. As usual Beds are like sleeping on a cloud.
The hotel seemed overall cleanly, but there were a few issues. When we first arrived and were walking up to the entrance, there was a dead mouse fried to the sidewalk. The lobby area was nice, the set up of the main area is strange. The carpet is hideous. It could seriously give someone a seizure. Whoever picked it out has absolutely no taste. The room itself was basic but clean. There were not many outlets so I had to unplug the clock in order to charge my phone. It wasnt a horrible stay but the cost is not justified for what you get.
We always stay at this hotel on our way to Bills games. It is really conveniently located and has been upgraded over the years. The room is large and was very clean. The gym facility was also really clean and good quality treadmills. It was quiet and overall a nice experience.I appreciate that they are not using little bottles in the bathrooms, but would love glasses in the room instead of plastic wrapped plastic cups. I would also like biodegradable cutlery and packaging for the breakfast items where possible.
This property was extremely clean, nicely decorated ,with friendly polite staff. The bed was extremely comfortable. My husband and I travel a lot for business and many times we make a note that we will not return to a certain hotel however this will definitely be on our best stay list.. There was a little bit of traffic noise coming from the highway however it didn’t interfere with a great nights sleep. This hotel is conveniently located for many restaurant choices and shopping. I highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel was clean, quiet, and comfortable. I was disappointed that my room did not have a microwave for my hot tea, as I had to go down to the lobby, get water from the water fountain, heat it in the lobby microwave, and bring it back to my room. Seems like unnecessary time spent in public spaces. Also, the snacks in the Market Place were very limited and pricey ($3 for a candy bar?). The Grab n Go breakfast was fine, though I think there could have been more options, considering the typical non-Covid hot breakfast variety.
When booking this stay, the hotel booking site mentioned free breakfast, which was a key factor when deciding on which hotel to spend the night. However, it was disappointing. I was obviously not expecting a fancy breakfast, and thought that it would be the usual breakfast buffet or continental breakfast offered by most budget hotels, However, it was anything but that. It was a few granola bars, packaged muffins, small juice boxes and small yogurt cups. I understand that the hotel might use COVID-19 precautions and restrictions as an excuse, but they failed to follow all other health guidelines (i.e. social distancing and face coverings).
Overall, we had a great experience at the Holiday Inn Express in Batavia. The staff is professional and accommodating. The rooms are clean. Great having a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker in the room. We couldnt hear neighboring guests or guest in the hallway. Beds are comfortable. The pull out couch needs additional padding. No linen available for pull out had to ask at front desk. Six people in our room and only enough bath towels for three. However, staff brought supplies without hesitation. Good variety of breakfast foods. Would stay there again.
From the time I walk through the door to check-in to my departure, at the end of each stay, I feel welcome. As I stay there on business four nights per week, and have been now for approximately 10 weeks, I spend more nights at in the staffs care than I do in my own home. No doubt I have a friendship established with several of the staff who have went out of their way to ensure I am completely satisfied each stay. They are very friendly and accommodating. The Area Manager of Operations is exceptional to say the very least. He continues to prove time and time again that he is there to make my experience at his facility the very best possible. Its so nice to deal with such quality people. As a Kansas boy I had no idea that I would be welcomed in the state of New York much like I would in Kansas, but thats exactly how I feel each week. Thank You to the amazing Staff!
From walking into the beautiful lobby to the friendly desk help, we were very happy to have chosen this hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was very clean, and the beds could use some upgrading, but I slept very well in the quiet room. The TV worked, which more than not doesn’t. We planned on using the pool, but went to dinner to a nearby restaurant that the desk clerk provided a huge list of nearby choices, and ran out of time to use the pool and hot tub. Breakfast was delicious and had so many choices. It was clean and the staff working the breakfast room was very friendly and kept everything very clean. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again if in the area.
The hotel staff is amazing. Mary in the mornings during breakfast and Bonnie our housekeeper were completely wonderful. Front desk staff is very nice and courteous. Rooms are nice, but the beds could use some updating! Please though, screen some of your employees. Things were witnessed that should absolutely not be going on. I understsnd that things happen everywhere, but it really needs to be addressed. Other than that, it was a great stay.
Rooms was good except you could tell there was water damage by the ceiling paint that didn’t even come close to matching. Was shocked no mini fridge or any way to keep anything cold in room. Had to keep getting ice which was a pain. They should of updates their website to say pool and morning breakfast was not in service that would of been nice to know. Everyone at front desk was great no problems with them. Location was great near everything.
Nice staff. Extremely clean and fresh. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Toiletries were very nice, and I appreciate the lack of tiny plastic bottles. I know that things would be a little different as far as pool, breakfast, etc. if it were not for the pandemic, and I would like to come back because I miss these amenities.
My daughter blew out a tire on the Thruway near Batavia. I got her a reservation at this hotel. I called the front desk and spoke with Trish, explained my daughters situation. The tow truck driver dropped her off. My daughter was very upset from the incident and in tears. Trish upgraded her to a little nicer room, and was just wonderful with my daughter, helping to settle her down. My daughter had no words to describe how nice she was, People like Trish make me very likely to recommend this hotel.
I would stay in this hotel each and every time Im in or near Batavia. The staff was beyond kind and helpful. My (disabled) husband didnt feel well and decided to stay at the hotel while we were out. After trying to reach him by phone and receiving no response, I called the front desk and asked if someone would please go to the room and check on him. The General Manager said yes, of course hed go check on him, and hed call me right back. He quickly returned my call, stating that everything was fine, I was so relieved. Truly, I cant say enough good things about the staff and accommodations. Holiday Inn Express is my new favorite place to stay!!
Staff was very friendly and apologetic about the pool being closed which is why we chose the hotel. Due to governor Cumo they aren’t allowed to open the pool area. The whole place was clean and we enjoyed the stay. The breakfast grab bags needed great improvement however as the bananas were mostly old and there were not a lot of options to chose from.
Room was nice though could have been appointed a bit better. TV was good, though could not easily find a channel guide. Good sleeping... bathroom was clan and neat. Chairs were OK, but then dont think I have ever found a hotel with really comfortable chairs, ever! Big issue was the heating system that didnt seem to respond to thermostat settings. Staff was somewhat causal about it but eventually moved us to another room. Breakfast was mostly good except any of the eggs offered had cheese.. would rather have just eggs. And the pancake maker was inoperative.
I have stayed at this hotel many times and I never come away disappointed. The staff starts your stay off with making you feel so welcome. They always greet me with a smile and make sure I have all I need. They are so accommodating and I am always so appreciative for this. The room is so relaxing and plenty of room for me to get around with my two Physically Challenged individuals that I bring. I have sufficient towels and washcloths and enjoy the coffee pot with the fixings for a much needed cup of coffee when I get settled in. In the morning I wake up to the smell of breakfast. When I start down the hall to enter the dining room, I am always greeted with a good morning smile and if there isnt enough seating, they will open a room so that you may always sit down to a breakfast with a variety of choices. I really enjoy this hotel tremendously!
The service personnel were friendly and well mannered. The king size room was spacious and comfortable. Only issues we found in the room were the shower cleanliness with some calcium/lime build up and the floor was a little dirty and the door to the room had a large gap around it letting corridor light and noise into the room. Otherwise, the breakfast was nice for a hotel, it was lacking in options/variety that I have seen at other Holiday Inn hotels.
Fabulous! We live in Batavia we are in the middle of moving to South Carolina we stayed here two nights while packing up and cleaning our apartment we were exhausted and sore. This hotel is perfect I made the right choice staying here it is beautiful, full size pillows, very comfortable bed, the shower is awesome love the dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. The complimentary breakfast is great. I highly recommend staying here!
My family and I spent the day at Darien Lake and chose to stay at the Holiday Inn Express for the night before returning home. Our room was comfortable and the choice of pillows (indicated by “firm” and “soft” embroidered on the pillowcases) was really nice. My children enjoyed swimming in the indoor pool, which was a perfect temperature and the availabilty of towels already in the pool area was good. The breakfast bar was terrific! There were so many choices for any appetite, from cereals, bagels, and pastries to fruit, yogurt, and eggs... the pancake machine was a big hit! The staff member taking care of the breakfast area was kind, friendly, and helpful with showing us how to use the pancake machine and assisting my kids with choosing their breakfast foods; she was truly a valuable person to make the morning go smoothly and showed us lovely hospitality. We will definitely return to this Holiday Inn Express when we are in the area and need a place to stay again!
Great hotel great . one of Holiday inns best spots very clean and they have the best selection of soap, shampoo and conditioner and a cool dispenser in the shower. the staff is very inviting, a pleasant stay every time. The new beds are soft and theres more pillows then I can kick off during the course of the night
Hi was going to pickup my Daughter in Canada and decided to stay at this hotel, since it was quick to go back to NJ the next morning. I liked the hotel, but I was not happy that the Temperature control was not working properly, since I turned it off and it was still sending out cool air and it was also set to Auto and not Fan on. The other thing I was not happy about was the Bathtub. It was not flowing down quick enough and was filling up and was starting to get slippery. Bed was very comfortable and the Breakfast was great. I would stay there again, but I would check the room first to confirm if the air is like that everywhere and check the bathtub.
We called the hotel later in the day while driving from Indy to Syracuse and the gentleman was very polite. We were able to get a room and arrived a short time later. It was like coming home after a long trip because of the similarities in the Holiday Inn hotels. Our experience is that the staff is always welcoming, polite and efficient. The premises is clean and well maintained. We had breakfast which was sufficient and the area was very clean.Overall we enjoyed our stay.
We were greeted as we walked in the door. As we checked in the customer service person upgraded our room to a 2 queen plus pull out bed to help accommodate for the mix of 12 year old boy, and 17 year old girl so they didnt have to share a bed. I did call ahead and request a cot bed, but they are on a first come first serve basis. So the upgrade was greatly appreciated. The room was very clean, very spacious, and the beds were comfy!!! Breakfast was good, and the staff at breakfast were very friendly. Overall this was a wonderful hotel experience!!!
The hotel is only a few years old, so the furnishings and rooms still look new and fresh. There was lots of available parking on the property. Our room was quiet which was a big plus for a light sleeper like myself. When we checked in, our front desk clerk Scott was very friendly and helpful and made us feel right at home. Our housekeeper Kim very friendly, always had a big smile on her face and when we came back before she was finished cleaning our room, she was so polite and finished cleaning very quickly and efficiently. Our morning breakfasts with Mary were delightful. We felt like we were eating in Marys kitchen. She made sure we were well fed, and double checked with us if we needed anything else before she closed down the breakfast bar.Ive had some bad experiences at other Holiday Inns, but this one was top notch and we could tell it was a well managed property. We will definitely stay here again.
Pros: Beds were comfortable. Cons: The attendant was a little rude upon arrival and refused to give me the IHG member rate (-$5), but we stayed anyway. Big mistake: no microwave nor fridge in room, the shower door would not close all the way and leaked all over the floor
Clean, easy to find, modern interior design, comfortable bed/sheets/pillows, thermo for room temp adjustable, flat screen t.v with nice picture and sound. The room I had did not have a microwave or mini fridge. Didnt like that the toiletries for shampoo/conditioner were not a take along, but for all to use in the shower. Otherwise would recommend for a business or rest stop stay.
Hotel was very clean, quiet and comfortable. We had a 2 queen bedroom and the rooms were very large and comfortable. The front desk staff were wonderful to me and my family accomodating us for a late check out due to a stressful situation. Customer service was wonderful. The only thing that I noticed that I would do better if I were Holiday Inn, clean the elevators daily. They had smudge marks all over and the carpets inside the elevator need to be shampooed. With that being said, it was overall a very pleasant experience an would stay again!
This winter has been so harsh, so I decided to take my grandchildren to this hotel for a swim night. It was a great decision! Our room was very clean and comfortable, and the staff were very pleasant. I was able to relax by the pool while the kids had fun swimming/ There were very few people using the pool while we were at the hotel so the kids were able to play with a few pool toys we brought from home. Breakfast the next morning was delicious with plenty of variety. The kids had cereal, pancakes and scrambled eggs. There was also fruit, Danish and yogurt. The whole experience was very nice and we plan to return again this time next year.
When arriving at the hotel there were not any staff present to greet me... I waited ten mins for someone to come to the desk, the gentleman seemed to be very busy. The rooms were great in size but for the price I would not expect to see water damage on the ceiling of the bathroom...Breakfast was great the staff wonderful and pleasant.Overall great place to stay because we have such a big family and the adjoining rooms were perfect for us. The kids liked the pool.
If you want there allacart breakfast which is not a big choice but something to get you going they dont serve until after working people leave in the morning. So on vacation your ok if you leave before 6:30am you wont get anything. And no coffee in the lobby just your room which stinks.
Many Covid precautions in place so felt completely safe. Could be more low sugar options available for our bag breakfast for those of us who are careful of our diet. Hotel is very clean. Only complaint was that our room was near the Thruway, so a little noisy, but we were tired and fell asleep quickly.
I have stayed at dozens of hotels during my life but this was by far the friendliest staff I have encountered. The gentleman working the front desk was very welcoming during our late 10pm arrival, and during our entire stay. The breakfast attendant was very friendly and attentive to everyones needs, and our housekeeper went out of her way to leave a note hoping we were enjoying our stay. This, combined with the attractive (and nice smelling) room, makes us want to return soon.
Recently stayed at this property three nights, and it was my first time in the area. I travel a lot on business, so, I see a lot of different hotels. This property was attractive from the outside with building and parking lot well maintained and free of litter. The hotel, inside, was clean, well-lighted and well maintained. My room was clean, comfortable and conducive for both work and relaxation. Front desk staff and the breakfast lady were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast area was clean and comfortable with a nice variety of food items. When my team and I returned from working each afternoon, we were welcomed back--nice touch.
My husband and I felt very comfortable from the moment we walked into the lobby. The hotel was very clean. Check-in was friendly and quick. The room itself was also very clean. The beds were comfortable and we were able to get a good night’s sleep. There was also a nice little continental breakfast served in the morning. It was all ready by 6:00 am. Overall, it was a very good experience.
We visited Batavia Holiday Inn Express in July 2015. The rooms were neat & clean. Diversified with Business people & families that stayed at the hotel. The staff was very helpful & available to assist. I was especially pleased with the weekday breakfast staff. They went out of their way to accommodate every patron to the best of their ability. Weekend breakfast service was not the same. The hotel has a small indoor pool, exercise area & business center. The coin operated washer & dryer on 2nd floor was a plus. The only aaitional accommodation we would liked to have would be a microwave & fridge in the room. Overall very pleased with our 10 day stay. Looking forward to our next visit.
I was in the area for business and stayed at the Holiday Inn for two nights. As soon as I entered the hotel I felt very welcomed by the staff. The front desk staff were friendly, attentive and processed my check in very quickly. The hotel is very neat and clean. The hotel rooms are a good size and the beds/pillows are very comfortable. At breakfast the next morning I had the pleasure of meeting Mary who made sure I had what I needed for breakfast. She made me feel very comfortable while being away from home.
Batavia is a half way point for our trip between home and our family in Michigan. We have stayed in this location since it first opened. Overall it is a nice hotel for a nights stay. Noticed this time that the carpet in the elevator is looking very dirty and worn. Beds arent the most comfortable, but similar to what youd expect in this price range. Typical free breakfast. Lady running it was really nice, food is not so great but what Ive come to expect at these hotels. I do like the warm cinnamon rolls! Thats a nice touch! Rooms are clean and that is the most important thing to me. Overall I like this hotel and will stay here again.
My overall experience was not bad. It was not a bad location from the falls. For an extra 15 minute drive, you can actually get to the falls without paying the toll. I liked the hotel (not so much the decor) but the room was clean and I was able to get a good nights sleep. The main thing I did not expect and did not really appreciate was a knock on my door at 9:00 from the cleaning service. Fortunately I was already up and dressed but my children were not. Check out time is not until 11:00 (and supposed to be 12:00 if we are a PC member)-none the less, there should be not loud conversing in the halls nor knock on the doors until after 11:00. In other hotels, the cleaning service gets a call from the front desk for rooms that are available to clean so this does not happen. The cleaning staff was all lined up to be shipped out when I leaving breakfast but later when I was using the computer room, it sounded like shouting, yelling and arguing between a manager and an employee about missing work or something. I looked in the hall but it actually came from the workers laundry room. There either needs to be a door or they need to remember to talk softly. Guests can hear everything in the hallways (especially unhappy workers). The one person working the dining room did her best to keep up but the tables got omitted. There needs to be one extra person who floats from the checkin counter to the dining room to assist in both places, Otherwise the staff was nice (exept the girl working the morning shift on 6/30/13. Whatever she was doing was more important than the paying attention to the people waiting at the counter. If she was on the phone, we would understand but it is hard to understand when a brief just a minute could have been said.
The hotel changed my reservation to accommodate a large group of families attending a soccer tournament so my daughter slept on a very uncomfortable pull out bed. We had to go back to the front desk to get sheets pillows etc as the room was not ready to use the pull out and the front desk person would not deliver the linens to the room. We heard footsteps over our heads all evening and morning and never saw a person replenishing the breakfast all though many of the items were empty. This is a cheaply made property with management that makes very poor decisions regarding room requests when the reservation was made...
My family of 4 was on the way home from a long road trip when we stopped for the night. Was lucky to get the last double room on the property for the night. Was pleasantly surprised to get a suite. The two queen-sized beds were very comfortable. The bathroom had great modern conveniences.Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. For a last-minute drop in, we were very happy with our accommodations. Thanks for a great night!
I take my grandchildren to this hotel every year for a swim night. The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We needed a new remote for our TV and the gentleman at the front desk brought one to our room immediately. We had a wonderful time and the kids enjoyed the pool. Were looking forward to visiting this hotel again next year. Thank you for making our stay a pleasant one.
When visiting family in Batavia, this is my choice of stay because of the way I am treated by all staff and because I travel with 2 elderly mentally and physically challenged individuals and the accommodations are ideal for us. The staff goes above and beyond in being kind and offering to help if I need it and they treat me like I am more than just another customer. The breakfast being included in the stay and the variety of food is such a great benefit. It is so nice that they have internet but I do have to say that the signal in the room is poor and so I cant always get it but they do offer a room downstairs that people are free to use. I would love to be able to stay once a month but at this time my budget doesnt allow that but I look forward to my next visit!
Very pleased with the Holiday Inn Express Batavia. Nice clean, modern looking, quiet, well appointed and well located hotel. We used it as our base and did day trips to Darien Lakes Water Park and the Museum of Play in Rochester. Check in was a breeze (Priority Club member). Needed a fridge in the room and it was there within 1/2 hour of request. Able to control the air conditioning in the room, everything worked, beds were comfortable, fantastic pillows, got take out and delivery brochures from front desk and slept great. Breakfast was plentiful, hot and with lots of variety and my 4 year old grandson loved the pancake maker. After a day at the water park it was great to discover that we could purchase frozen meals from the lobby and pop them into the microwave near the front desk. Saved us a ton of money and was way better than trying to take a 4 year old out to eat. Nice little indoor pool (a bit crowded one evening) and a sun patio. Loved watching a huge ground hog munching grass on the back lawn one evening. Chatted with the desk staff one evening and she filled me in on Rochester for our next day trip. Hotel was full at least one night yet it was quiet and comfortable, the breakfast was still plentiful and the staff still took the time to talk for a minute. One extra light would have been nice in the room as we did have to move the standing lamp around to get light where we needed it. Overall - GREAT STAY Will no doubt stay there again.
Though the hotel was nice with large room, there was hardly any furniture in the room, no microwave, no refrigerator, no recliner and only 1 small table and two straight kitchen chairs, along with a TV. Bed was comfortable. In the breakfast room the pancake machine was out of order. Considering the price, the room was way overpriced as it had no amenities. I would not stay there again. As we left the desk clerk had dark glasses on, no need for that inside, makes one look suspicious.
While traveling to MA, we stopped at Holiday Inn Express at Darien Lake. We were greeted by a friendly Desk Manager and Associate. They provided my disabled husband a walk in shower which we dont find often in our travels. There was a little confusion about obtaining our member ship number but they kept trying and finally resolved the issue. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the room was equally beautiful with its modern design. We were provided information on where to find a meal at a reasonable cost and everything just seemed perfect. We were quickly on our way the next morning after having enjoyed out nights stay. Heading home if possible we will plan on staying at this same hotel. The price was very affordable for such a comfortable stay.
Loved the hotel however a couple of areas need improvement. Breakfast should be served until 10am daily instead of just weekends. Families were having the food whisked away from them because they came down at 9:25am. We all thought it was on until 10am. The breakfast lady was a little cranky with us. Loved the size of the rooms but think a bar fridge in the room would be great. Beds and pillows were really comfortable. Would recommend the hotel to friends/clients.
New hotel in the quiet city of Batavia. Free breakfast was outstanding with bacon, sausage, eggs and pancakes. Rooms are very spacious, but did not have a fridge or microwave, hence the 4 out of 5 stars. Great customer service and very clean. Definitely recommend this hotel for !104/ night.
This hotel is a nice property. Great location, superb staff. However, when we entered our room, we noticed a burned out light bulb in the bathroom. I went to the front desk and they immediately brought me a new one. While that was going on, we realized the fitted sheets were installed inside out, one bed didnt have a mattress pad, and upon further inspection, a big need for general cleaning. The desk staff moved us to another room, which was fine. All in all, a nice stay.
7PM arrived at the HI, to check-in after a 200 mile drive from Burlington, Ontario, looking just for a friendly reception and a quiet place to sleep. Not at HI in Batavia. Glum, no rude, front desk who refuses even a bottle of water to a Gold Member (Go grab one from the Market is what I am told to do)--and then promptly charges $2 for that privilege! Finally I arrive in my room--and it is the closest I could be to the freeway (ignoring my standing profile Away from Highway)! I mean, I literally could not get any closer to the road--I had the last room on that wing! My earplugs came handy that night. Next morning there was another person at the front desk that apologized profusely, and removed the $2 charge. Nice, but big deal. Not gonna stay HI any more, especially considering the royal treatment I got at another non-HI hotel, the next day! (Can send you photos, if you like).
Nice hotel, clean and spacious room and bathroom. Unfortunately we heard a lot of foot traffic from the floor above us on a near-constant basis in the evening and morning. Weve stayed at many mid-priced hotels before and never encountered this problem. I mentioned the noise to one of the housekeeping staff and asked if that was normal, and she said yes - the sound travels. Other than this, the hotel was very nice and the HI Express breakfast is always appreciated! But I would try another hotel instead when Im back in the area, or ask for a room on the top floor.
We were very impressed with how well Amy at the front desk was able to keep her composure and sense of humor during the recent storm. While dealing with a sudden influx of people wanting rooms, employees calling in late or not being able to get to work due to the storm, Amy kept a smile on her face and a sense of humor. She was very kind about changing our rooms when the wind was making such a whistle through the vent and window (room 309) , keeping us from being able to sleep.Edith in housekeeping was also very kind and helpful. The hotel is very nice, has a good breakfast and very accommodating staff. We would recommend sealing the windows on the western side of the building better.Overall we were very pleased with our stay at the Batavia Holiday Inn Express.
The hotel was modern and clean. The quality of the room was excellent, clean, comfortable, and spacious. The bathroom was clean and the counter space was large enough for my toiletries. There was a variety of foods to choose from in the breakfast buffet and the cinnamon rolls were scrumptious. I enjoyed having a newspaper in the morning.
I travel a lot for work, and this is hands down one of my favorite Holiday inns. I dont know why their wasnt a fridge in my room. But overall its a beautiful new building, comfy beds, heavenly pillows. Only downside is the cow smell outside in the parking lot, but thats just the area. Also, the WiFi is excellent in the room. Alyssa always took care of us when we stay. Great staff. Youll be happy here.
I spent a night at the Batavia property recently and was very impressed. I was driving home from a wedding and needed a hotel near the interstate. I arrived after nine and was on the road again before eight. The property is inviting, well appointed, and well maintained. My room was spotless and nicely furnished. The staff was very helpful and breakfast was varied and well done. What more can you ask for? I do not have a lot of experience with the Holiday Inn brand and chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews. I will certainly consider using them again!
I stayed for business. The staff, when they were at the desk, were helpful. There were people waiting to check in when I arrived and had been there 15 minutes. I waited with them for another 5 minutes. There was no one at the desk as they had stepped away. The room was a standard IHG, but missing the door and the full-length mirror. When I asked, it was indicated the door/mirror was broken and would not be replaced. The staff was helpful and honest, when at the desk. The rooms are beginning to show some neglect.
Nice and varied breakfast which changed daily. Beds were comfortable. Pillows were soft and dreamy. When we brought to the attention of the front desk clerk that our closet door would not stay closed and stayed open into the hallway, we got no help - only the comment that the door was supposed to be fixed, but maintenance hadnt gotten around to it yet. That was disappointing, but other than that our stay was very nice.
I must assume (risky I know) that hotel staff knows the complaint and maintenance history of each room. If not they should. On a slow night based on the empty parking lot, my wife and I booked a standard room using my Gold account and a senior citizen discount. We were given a standard room on the top floor closest to the highway. Beyond the highway noice, being able to ear other guest conversations (in bathroom only) and the expected heater noice, this room had the added curse of a periodic sound much like a moose call coming from the fan ducts even when the heater was blowing. I called the front desk hoping maintainace knew all too well about the problem and could make a quick adjustment to something. Instead I was told that was not possible and all they could do was offer a room change. At that point we were all unpacked and unwilling to accept the offer. The call ended with no apologies, concern or sympathy expressed by hotel staff, just silence followed a click!
We where greeted by a very friendly clerk who helped us with the other rooms I had reserved. I reserved a total of 3 for a family wedding. I found them to be a little on the expensive side and no discount was offered. One of the rooms had flying ants on the window sill in the morning. I was refunded for that room. Free breakfast was of ok quality. Not much of a selection. Pancake machine was broken and orange juice tasted spoiled the second day. Went down a little later for breakfast on day 2, not much left. No shuttle service offered. Over all it was a place close to stay for the wedding instead of driving home. Was not overly impressed for the price I paid.
The Hotel looked new. Normal Holiday Inn beds. The room was cleaned, But the maid left a bar of soap on the tub, Which made me look a little closer. But the bathroom did look clean. Room was a little cool when we arrived, but we adjusted the temp. The breakfast lady was great. I give her 5 stars!!! Kept the food supplied and kept the tables very clean.
This is definetly the cleanest, best equipped Holiday In Express I have seen. The pantry was stocked with more items then any other I have seen. The breakfast bar had more options then any other I have seen. The hotel looks brand new, but is over 1 year old. The rooms were appointed quite well. The pool was fun. The workout room is small, but had everything I wanted. Only issue is maybe inceasing vents in the bathroom....a hot steamy shower fogged up the entire bathroom for quite some time. I wish they allowed dogs. Luckily I didnt have mine on this trip, but Id like to return someday and have my dog with me.
Hotel was really nice. Hotel appearance was very good, Staff was very professional and friendly. The breakfast area was very clean and food was adequate. The pool area and fitness room were very nice. We used both. The room temperature in the pool area was very nice, the only negative comment is the pool water was a little to cold. We stayed in 4 other Holiday Inns with indoor pools on the trip and the water was much warmer in these. Our overall experience at this hotel was excellent and we would stay there next time we go to Batavia.
This was my second visit to this hotel and I will return to it if I come back to that area again. Wife is happy and very pleased with it. Under the present conditions with the virus, we couldn’t ask for more and hotel personnel are very professional. Even though there are some locations with hands sanitizer available, I think there should be more locations with it.
Our room was large and comfortable. Traveling with two teenage boys, the standard hotel room is quite cramped but this room was very spacious. The boys particularly liked not having to share a bed because of the sofa bed. Our request for additional bedding and pillows for the sofa bed were filled immediately. Biggest complaints were the noise from the room above where you could hear room-shaking footsteps through the ceiling (incessant for almost an hour but they stopped early enough not to disturb sleep) and the horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE wifi which cut in and out throughout the entire stay.
We have stayed at the DarienLake hotel many times Hotel is very nice and they always accommodate me. This last stay we were greeted by a gentleman who was wearing sunglasses inside at 8 pm His beard was extremely long and looked like it hadnt been combed. His overall appearance was actually scary. He however was very nice in checking us in. In our room, an item dropped and rolled under the bed and when my granddaughter retrieved it she also found a pill under the bed along with someones dirty sock a bottle cap, candy, and a ton of dirt and dust. Both beds had not been cleaned under in quite some time.
The experience me and my family had at this location was alright. Nothing really to write home about. The building looked like it was in a state of flux: parts of the building were under construction and the pool was closed for renovations. A sign on the door to the pool asked patrons to use the hotel across the parking lot. The carpet was in need of replacement throughout the elevators and hallways though the lobby and breakfast area was fine. Otherwise, the room was clean and fairly large with a king sized bed. The walls were a little thin in that we could hear our neighbors and parts of their conversations. The biggest gripe we had was the hotels policy on late check-out: they dont do it on weekends. We had asked the front desk upon check-in and were told no. We tried again the next morning but were met with the same response. We only had 2 hours between check-out of this hotel and check-in of the next hotel and were not able to stay for the difference. Its unknown if we would ever consider staying at this hotel and of others within this chain have the same policy, we may never consider a Holiday Inn Express.
The hotel was nice. The price averaged at 160 a night. I found it interesting that when my wife called the hotel was entirely booked except for the suits. That did not reflect what their website said. Less than 5 minutes later I called and the regular room was available. For that price I was expecting the room to be cleaner. Their was pink mold around the edges of the shower. Its not dangerous or anything but it shows a lack of using cleaners consistently.
This is a pretty new hotel, and the amenities were all attractive and new. Comfortable bed, nice shower, good TV, effective air conditioner and thermostat, decent wifi. The breakfast was OK, but my expectations for hotel free breakfasts are pretty low, so this place did a pretty good job on that front (although I continue to be amazed that so many places simply cant make a decent cup of coffee!!). Net, net...I was happy with this place, and would choose it again when travelling across upstate NY.
We checked in to our first room and it clearly had not been cleaned. Candy pieces all over the bed and water bottles on the floor. The second room we got after that had mould in the bathroom, a dirty toenail in the bed along with hair and stains. This room obviously was not cleaned either. When we walked in the third room, right on the pillow was a bed bug. Each time we went to front desk, the lady did not even bat an eye and seemed annoyed. Awful experience after driving 6 hours.
The breakfast was nice, but the pancake maker was broken. Usually you have the veggie omelet, but none this time. There was TERRIBLE Black mold under the mirror in the bathroom. I did not check the top, but it was obvious on the bottom. The shower door did not close correctly. Lots of water on the floor. The hair dryer was malfunctioning, and the front desk did not have a replacement. I suggested another room. They were impressed with my idea.
It was clean. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was awesome, and the lady refilling stuff and cleaning was ADORABLE and funny. The ac was stuck on, and it was a little uncomfortable, - thats the reason for only 4 stars. .. we ended up throwing a towel on it and calling it a night instead of notifying staff at 1am...Overall though, very satisfied and would recommend.
This hotel was not the best Holiday Inn Express I have stayed at by a long shot. I am not one to usually complain about things, but. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was not good. We felt the carpet with filthy and the bathroom had not been cleaned very well. I booked a king room 6 months ago and arrived to a double queen room. The staff seemed rather uninformed of the meeting that we were holding there the next day. Not the worst hotel I have ever been in, but wont be staying at this one again.
The lady at the desk was pleasant and helpful and the room was clean. Our room was huge because it was handicapped equipped. The room looked like a banquet hall with a desk, dresser and two beds placed in the center. The beds were comfortable, we had a good nights rest, but the room was impersonal and not in the least bit inviting. Oh yes, there was no refrigerator in the room...never had that happen at a Holiday Inn Express before.I would recommend the hotel, just avoid room 108 if you dont need handicap features.
Room was good except that you can hear people walking above. Also can hear when someone walks by or flushes a toilet. The staff was friendly, did not have the typical shampoo toiletries in the room. Staff said they are in the midst of switching from plastic bottles to dispensers. Unfortunately the room I was in did not have shampoo thankfully had a shampoo from previous hotel.
I have stayed in this hotel before on business trips and each time I stay, I feel the cleanliness goes down. While the look and décor is more modern than many, the cleanliness needs some work. The elevator carpet was extremely dirty as was the carpet in the hallways. I am not that picky but the sheets, although were clean, were the most wrinkled sheets I have ever seen on a bed. The most concerning was the fact that it was clear housekeeping had not swept or cleaned the bathroom floor between guests. When we arrived there was evidence of hair on the bathroom floor and a little in the shower and the most disturbing, someones clipped toenails under the bathroom sink!!!!! Yuck! I wore my shoes everywhere unless I was standing on a towel. I too felt the room smelled musty when I walked in but I cant put my finger on the exact smell. I was definitely not greeted as a Spire Member when I checked in but that isnt that important to me. A clean bathroom, however, is!!!!!
Have stayed here many times and would have ranked this hotel the best in Batavia area....However there was a terrible smell in our room which the staff did alleviate the second day when we requested to be moved...there was a terrible smell in the hall of the fourth floor the entire stay...I cannot imagine that others had not complained about it ...yet no explanation was given. Also the young travel teams had no parents or coaches giving them guidelines and yelling, running, and slamming doors persisted throughout the day and evening.....I never thought to check current reviews because our past stays were excellent and I had recommended this hotel to others. Now I know better.
Stayed at this hotel for business. I also rented out their meeting room, which was spacious and came with coffee, water and tea. All employees were extremely helpful and courteous. If I were to rate my experience at this hotel on these factors, it would be 5-stars.However, what made me rate the overall experience 3 stars was for the horrible internet connection and the guest room being mediocre. It would be nice to have a sofa chair to sit on. The thermostat didnt function properly when using the Auto setting. The fan and heat setting had to be kept on, which made the room too stuffy and noisy throughout the night.
A clean, quiet, pretty hotel with modern decor. I liked that the elevators were not right next to the rooms so there was no noise from elevators nor from people getting on and off the elevators. In addition, the openness of the elevator area with the modern hanging sculpture was quite pretty.
Date of visit: Friday, January 17, 2020It is no secret; Rogue Trippers love staying at holiday inn express hotels. We try to stay at HIE as often as our travel budget allows. You always know you are getting a good nights stay when you are there. And Batavia is no different. The rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable. The beds are big, soft, comfortable, and have good linens. You always get pillow firmness options which is nice. The bathroom is a perfect big, tall shower, big sink and counter and everything is clean, fresh and comfortable. There are plenty of towels which are soft and fluffy. And there are good toiletries available. In the shower, they have shampoo, body wash and conditioner. The breakfast at HIE is one of the best. They have great assortment of breakfast items, including omelettes, boiled eggs, turkey and pork sausage, pancakes, and much more — the perfect way to start the day.Plenty of onsite parkingThe wifi is free (password protected) and good service. For a great nights stay, holiday inn express is always a great option.** When I booked this through a 3rd party site, I got an email notifying me that this hotel did not have a front desk and that There are NO late night check ins. This is incorrect information - this hotel like all Holiday Inn Express Hotels are staffed 24 hours at the front desk.
We recently stayed at this property as a stop-over before visiting family in Canada. The hotel itself was pretty nice, clean and a nice atmosphere. The front desk staff needs a course in customer service and they need it quick! We checked in and some guy with a beard, who never introduced himself, checked us in. As a Priority Club Member were used to being treated pretty good at other IHG properties. I had to ask for a Priority Club goodie bag and was told by the bearded guy that I had to get my own bottle of water out of the fridge and I could have one of the two remaining bags of crumbled chips left on the shelf. I passed on the crumbled chips. You would think that, knowing a Priority Club Member was due to check in on a rewards night, that they would have a goodie bag waiting? Is this too much to ask?The bed that we had wasnt the best for sleeping. Lay on the edge and gravity took us both to the middle. On a brighter note, the room was clean and of course the pillows were excellent!Upon checking out in the morning, I told the front desk staff about the bad bed and they said theyd have maintenance check on it? That really wasnt what I wanted to hear after sleeping terrible due to the bed. Were used to waking up refreshed at other IHG properties but that wasnt the case here.
On a busy football weekend, this was as close to Buffalo as we could get on short notice, but we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at this site. The hotel was very clean, modern, and quiet. Terrific appointments and amenities throughout the hotel. The staff was especially professional, helpful, and courteous. The beds offered superior comfort. Excellent breakfast choices as well. I can confidently recommend this hotel for the traveller or business person looking for high quality accomodations outside the city.
We stopped over night and were greeted by 2 younger people, who were very happy to see us and talked to us like we were old friends stopping by. That made an impression on me right away. We went to our room and it was very clean and comfortable. We asked about area restaurants and the staff were well informed, and gave us directions. Overall all I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling.
The staff was great - offered prompt check in process, going extra mile to provide directions, and making us feel welcome (kudos to the breakfast attendant - wonderful lady!). Unfortunately, we found this particular location to be below the normal Holiday Inn Express standard when it came to cleanliness. Despite the newer appearance, carpeting throughout the building looked quite dirty - from elevators, to hallways, to the room. Also, the bathrooms in the lobby were a mess and the trashcans in the public areas seemed to be overflowing as we left mid-morning on a Monday.
Everytime I stay here, I come away feeling like I mattered. I never have any negative issues but always feel like I have been catered to. The staff is outstanding when it comes to courtesy and kindness. They always go out of their way to make sure I feel right at home and carry a smile at all times. I will continue to stay only here when visiting Batavia without a doubt. The beds and pillows are so comfortable and I always feel so rested. I wake up to coffee in my room and then a delicious assortment of breakfast choices when I go down to their included with stay breakfast. I appreciate everything about the Holiday Inn Express in Batavia, NY!
Everything seemed great except when we got to the room the coffee pot was never cleaned and the next day towels were not picked up in the bathroom. The bathroom stank after a lot of water was used. The outlets in the bathroom were hard to get plugs in. But all and all with those few minor complaints we did enjoy our stay. Staff was very friendly, check in was pleasant, the hotel seemed very clean. I would probably stay there again. Breakfast was nice !
I had looked forward to staying at this property, but it was priced higher than its local competitor. Finally the were priced the same and was excited. Front desk staff was very cheerful and welcoming. The property is new and has a modern design, until you get in the room.First it has a small desk, two standard chairs, not the comfortable business chair others have. The beds didnt look comfortable and they werent. I tossed and turned for two nights. Had it not to much of a hassle to repack and unpack again, I would of left. But for one more night it wasnt worth the effort. As a business traveler, comfort is a priority. This hotel does not offer that Im sorry to say.
We had thought wed left two items in our room after check-out, one of great sentimental value. The next day, we contacted the hotel, asking only after the item we cared the most about. The desk staff was very gracious and tried to help us, finally telling us she would check with the head housekeeper. After several minutes on hold (okay) a new voice came on the line, a man who identified himself as the manager who was hostile, argumentative and uncooperative, refusing to check with housekeeping and complaining that too many guests try to give him a hard time. Guests are always screaming at me, calling me a thief. (We had done neither.)In response to our telling him the desk staff had offered to check with Housekeeping, he responded, Well, she must have been confused. We told him he was risking a bad review, to which he replied (paraphrasing), We have no legal liability; theres nothing more we can do.Huh?After more than a thousand IHG stays over a period of more than 40 years, this was a first for us.Over the past 20 years, we had put up family members at this property who were en route to our place. No more, Im afraid.
Newer hotel in a town full of dated hotels. Nice beds and soaps/shampoo. No refrigerator in rooms and no microwave. The power outlets next to the bed on the nightstand lamp do not work( woke up to dead phone). Pam and Alyssa were good to deal with checking in but the nighttime clerk was one of the worst hotel employees I have ever encountered. I came down to ask for an extra coffee K cup, i stood waiting at the desk for 5 minutes and then saw a person at the breakfast area so I approached her. I said hello and she did not respond. I said it again, and she said “what do you need?” I asked for the Kcup and she said “you’ll have to wait and - over there” pointing to the lobby. I waited while she filled the cereal hopper for the next morning. She gave me my cup but I felt awful for having asked and the way she treated me. That is unacceptable in a customer relations business. Worse yet, there were about 50 soccer kids and their oblivious parents in the building for a tournament and these kids were running thru the halls kicking balls and yelling until 11pm. I asked the front desk about quiet time and even asked some of the kids to play outside. It was extremely inconsiderate to those of us who needed and paid for a good nights rest. It was an expensive stay as well. Never again! Better to stay at the Fairbridge or La Quinta.
This HI Exp was VERY clean and comfortable. In fact it’s one of the nixed I’ve stayed in, I’m thinking it has been renovated within the past year or so. The staff is very friendly, and the free breakfast was great, and they kept it well stocked. I would stay here again for sure.
Stayed at the Batavia HI Express for 2 nights in Mid-January while on business. The hotel is convenient to the NY Thruway exit. The desk staff was friendly and efficient, with my room & check-in paperwork ready upon arrival. The room was clean & quiet, and my room (king suite) was very roomy. There are plenty of electrical outlets, and the room was sufficiently appointed with a work desk and a second table for dining, It had a dorm-sized refrigerator and a microwave. The hot breakfast options were a bit underwhelming - not as filling as some of the other HI Expresses Ive stayed at, but better than some other chains complimentary breakfasts. Biscuits & gravy are an option at some of the HI Expresses, but not here. If its too big an issue, there is a Bob Evans restaurant 1/2 mile away. One suggestion: the HI Express in Waynesboro VA places the plastic utensils in canisters, but the forks, knives & spoons are individually wrapped so when the patrons are rummaging through them, theyre not randomly spreading their germs. Nice thought, especially in flu season. Id like to see that become the rule rather than the exception. All in all, a very good stay. I would definitely book this hotel for my next trip.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The towels were luxurious. The breakfast the next morning had a wide variety of choices and the kitchen worker worked hard to replenish items as needed, clean tables, and make sure guests had what they needed. She was very friendly and attentive.
The positives of the stay is the location - right off of I-90 and close to downtown Batavia. Also Batavia is roughly half way between Buffalo and Rochester. The breafast is consistant with other Holiday Inn Expresses, though they only offer biscuits and gravy on Thursdays. They do offer turkey sausage each day and alternate between sausage links and bacon. The offer express check out, which all the times I stayed the bill was accurate. Check in is also a breeze as well.Only two negatives is that the internet was not that reliable or fast. With streaming sites like youtube from the fitness center there was a great deal of buffering. The elipical when exercising around 60 minutes would pause during the workout meaning that you had to continously press enter to restart. There was only one elipical and exercise bike and two treadmills. There is a pool, but the pool is fairly small and no hottubs. In addtion to this, most of the rooms only have showers and when requested a room with a tub would mean not having a suite - no microwave or mini-refridge.Overall, the hotel is well worth the stay and when in the area I would continue to stay at this hotel.
The hotel in Batavia, NY was clean and the bed was very nice. We were disappointed that the room did not have a refrigerator as we are used to having in IHG properties. We were also disappointed that the breakfast was meager and bagged, but there was the Covid factor.
Dirty common areas. First we had to change rooms smelled bad. second room also had a smell but we just stayed there. Beds wete not typical HIE beds very uncomfortable. Did not sleep. Pillows were fine though. Very pricey and this hotel should not be. Very disappointed!!
Everything about this hotel was great. Room was clean, front desk personnel were very friendly and courteous. The only small hiccup for me was the ATM machine. I forgot to bring cash with me and ended up needing an ATM machine. My bank wasn’t anywhere near, but the front desk girls ended up directing me to a nearby gas station, which was very helpful. But overall very pleased with the hotel and staff.
What makes Holiday Inns one of my favorite hotel chains for business travel is their attention to comfort. Their beds are some of the most comfortable beds in the industry. I always get a great nights sleep and wake feeling like Ive been at home. Im on the road a LOT for work and I look forward to staying at Holiday Inn when Im able to. I love that they have Bath and Body Works items in their bathrooms and that their towels are extra large and extra plush. Ive never been disappointed with a room. The Holiday Inn Express in Batavia has excellent staff, from the girl who checked me in to the wonderful lady who served breakfast and made my morning enjoyable. The staff were friendly, professional and down to earth. I love that they chat you up and make you feel at home, rather than just cater to you like youre the bottom dollar. I like people who treat me like Im a friend, not a pay check. This is what will keep me coming back to the HIE in Batavia, and what will keep me recommending it to others, the staff!
My positive experience began simply by walking in the lobby with the bright, open areas. I was greeted at check in with enthusiasm and was checked in within two minutes. My room was spotless and bright overlooking the parking lot (thats a good thing.. keep an eye on my car).. The bathroom was bright and lots of hot water. On the way down to breakfast in the morning, there was a nice open feeling walking through the public areas. Then there is Mary.... the breakfast attendant. Mary was super friendly and kept everything on the breakfast menu stocked and kept it at proper temperature. Her multitasking skills were amazing. As we were chatting, she managed to contain a couple of kids that escaped, cleaned five tables and restocked some breakfast items.... all with a smile . Shes a keeper, along with the rest of the staff...
Had a last minute business trip. Was impressed by the staff. Front desk was on the ball and the Breakfast person was right on top of everything. Nice to see someone so proud of her job.Having an indoor pool and exercise room was a good plus.On my list of places to go back to.
I have stayed at this location a few months ago and this time I would have to rate my experience lower than the first. The internet service is horrible, it constantly drops that is if you can even get connected, I even tried connecting via Ethernet cable with no luck, since I was traveling for business I need more reliability so I do not have to go somewhere else to connect. The staff is friendly, but I give the service a low ranking this time since when I left my room one day there was very little toilet tissue left, to my surprise when I returned that evening it had not be replenished and I had to go to the front desk to ask for it. The room was reasonably clean when I arrived but think the carpet was not vacuumed as I found pumpkin seeds on the floor near the bed - they were not mine.
Its nice to be able to be greeted with friendly staff and smooth transactions without hidden fees. Our room was very comfortable and very very clean..which was nice because I was staying there with my kids. We liked the whole package..clean room, clean building, easy parking and excellent breakfast!
I stay in hotels 100-150 days per year primarily for business/work related travel. I prefer to stay at Holiday Inn Express hotels because I find the quality and standards to be very good and consistent from place to place. The Batavia, NY property is only about 2 years old and my experience was very good. Several staff members stood out as being very friendly and helpful. In particular, I enjoyed the gas fireplace in the lobby, the business center layout, breakfast quality, pool, exercise room, and of course the quality of the room and comfy HIE beds and pillows. My wife and I are so impressed with the pillows at HIE, she ordered a set for our own bed at home. What more can I say HIE at Batavia, keep up the good job. Ill be back!
We were in town for a wedding and we always stay with Holiday Inn Express wherever we go. This particular location was good enough for our 4 day stay. The beds were pretty comfortable, room was clean, towels and supplies stocked up ... couch pulled out for a bed so it gave us the extra room we needed for our family of 4. Staff got us whatever we requested when asked. Nice stay, worth the trip.
We have stayed at a number of HI Express hotels. This is one of the better ones. Newer hotel, great layout and fantastic family eating area for the breakfast buffet with enough selection to cover a wide range of appetites. The availability of a couple of laptops for use in the lounge area was a nice touch and the computers in the business centre were fast, as were the printers. The entire facility was impeccably clean. Close to Darien Lake theme park and with the breakfast included, it could not have been more family friendly. The availability of guest laundry machines was a plus.
A small notch below my expectations for Holiday Inn ExpressPretty much have the same comments as others have noted. The carpet felt a bit unclean and didnt feel comfortable walking barefoot on them. My bed was freshly made and felt decent to sleep on, but the linen were old and beige-ish.Staff was decent and the wifi was strong though.

2022-01-02I booked this hotel based on Priceline reviews and then got nervous when I looked at Google reviews. I’m happy to say the Google reviewers had a different experience than we did. The staff was very friendly, especially Sue at breakfast. Yes, there were some things missing (like bars of soap), but as a shop manager myself, I understand the supply chain shortages. There’s just nothing you can do to get what isn’t out there to get. Our room was spacious and very clean and comfortable. The pool is not huge, but it was clean and warm enough for our kids to have fun and get out some travel wiggles. We would definitely stay here again.

2022-01-25I had an excellent restful stay in December 2021! Kayla who was the front desk staff I seen the most, was super helpful, friendly and answered any questions I had about my stay. She even went the extra mile to help me set up the hotel app!! Susan who was morning staff at breakfast time, wrapped up some goodies I could take to go as I was in a bit of a rush that morning. I appreciate all the extra time the staff I had in contact with during this stay, to make me feel welcome and at home! It was a bit of a stressful situation for me but I left feeling refreshed and very happy! I’m looking forward to my next stay here and hopefully with my entire family! : )

2022-01-08The staff was absolutely outstanding! I stayed here with my husband for a get away and Kayla went above and beyond to help our stay better she helped us find the perfect place to eat (Alex’s place) The other staff was amazing too! The pool was slightly small but well worth it! I would highly recommend to anyone to stay here while they are in town! We will for sure be back!

2022-04-04Great location. Friendly staff. Good breakfast options. Windows arent soundproof, so you will hear traffic off the interstate. Best to stay in the rooms closest to the elevator away from the highway. Close to restaurants and retail in Batavia at the exit off the interstate. I will definitely stay again.

2022-03-09Holiday Inn Express always delivers. I have never had an issue on any stay, and Ive easily spent 50 nights in total in 20 different locations. The girl at the desk was great, she said it was her first night working alone and wasnt 100 about setting up a wake up call so she offered to call the manager and figure it out if I wanted her to.Definitely would stay again.

2022-03-23Thanks to the location I stopped in late at night. The desk clerk was outstanding, and not only the over all hotel but the room as well was clean, breakfast was hot and the attendant was as sweet as they come! I will stay here again if I ever come back to the area! I would recommend this location!

2022-04-10I wont be staying here again. Its nothing against the staff they seem super nice and helpful. But theres no fridges in the room, the pools closed, laundry is out of service, the vending machine is out of service. And on top of all this theres 9 hotels within a quarter mile and 5 are in the same plaza/parking area.Maybe its bad timing. But I went out to dinner tonight and couldnt bring my leftovers back because there isnt a fridge 😥.Theres also no channel guide in the rooms. So not being from around here its annoying trying to figure out what channel is which especially when its on commercial 🙄.

2022-06-24From the receptionist to Susie the breakfast attendant this is the friendliest HIX I have ever visited. Can’t wait to visit again. Parking was ample for my RV and the atmosphere just wonderful. Who says New Yorkers are not friendly? I will make a point of visiting here again soon.
