Scammers!!! If you book a room here be sure to take pictures or a video before you check out. Without notification the hotel charged me an additional $300 for so-called damages. I didn’t even have to look at the pictures they sent me to know that it wasn’t me. Needless to say, the pictures they presented were a joke and furthermore not of my room! They tried to scam me but picked the wrong wife of an attorney!Apparently, this wasn’t their first crack at framing a guest. I gave one star for the front desk and that was for the courtesy I received at the front desk. Also, note that this hotel Is located in a desolate area. If a security guard is there he’s usually sleeping. I was on an assignment and returned to the hotel late at night, it was very uncomfortable.
We attended an event at Yankee Stadium and this hotel was perfect in terms of convenience and price. The rate was a fraction of the cost of anything in Manhattan. Property seems new - very clean and a helpful staff too. Very short walk to the subway which we utilized during the day, Lyft at night. Recommend!
This was not a good experience. When we arrived we were told there was no parking available and that we were on our own to find parking. As you can imagine, its not easy to find parking in the area especially when not familiar with the area. Then once we unloaded the car, found parking and returned to the hotel we were informed there was no hot water available. We were without hot water for our entire two night stay.On our final morning we went down for breakfast and were told they ran out of pancakes. Overall just a bad experience. On a positive note the rooms were nice, a little small, but nice.
I was charged $43.50 for some service I can’t understand. I didn’t use parking or any room service. My stay was fully covered by points.I called IHG customer service, and was told to call hotel directly. Called hotel directly, was told manager was away, call back the next day. Manager agreed the charges were incorrect and said they would refund. A week passes, second one... nothing was refunded, they didn’t really care and did nothing I believe. Didn’t want to waste my time with them anymore and filed a claim with my bank.
This is a decent hotel in a very rough area. I didn’t feel safe even standing out front. Would not recommend bringing a family here. The breakfast was horrible, the bananas were black and days old. Half of the items were not restocked so I have to eat cereal and milk.I emailed management of the poor experience and they never responded, very disappointing. Spend the extra money and go with a Hilton or marriot in a nice area.
Decent newer hotel in a neighborhood that’s sketchy at best. Room was small but had a great view of the city skyline. Lots of noise from the adjacent highway, but it is what it is. Close proximity to a Subway station, but you have to navigate the less-than-kosher neighborhood in order to get there.
I was pleasent my surprised give the location. The only difficulty with the hotel was finding it... The road it is on is underneath a bridge with the highway over it. Our GPS must not have figured out which road we were on as we got off the exit and it said we were there! Drove around a few times before we realized it was behind us on a one way street. The building itself is not well marked. The neighborhood is one I wouldnt recommend being alone in or out at night. We did see some cars parked on the street that had broken windows and litter was all over. We parked our car in a 24hr garage instead. None of the above is the fault of the hotel, so I rate them a 5 despite this. The rooms were small but actually quite pleasent. There was a Keurig with coffee available, a mini fridge, microwave, and a safe. The bathroom and beds were clean. The body products were white citrus from bath and body works, which was very pleasent indeed! I saw a total of three rooms during my stay as I was with a group. One of the rooms had a partially obstructed view of the skyline, it was gorgeous. Breakfast was good, I was impressed with the selection. Overall, the hotel was clean, quieter than youd expect, and relatively a pleasent stay in the Bronx!
First of all, Im going to start with the positive....Upon arrival the hotel it was neat and clean. The rooms were as well. The housekeeping service and breakfast was Excellent ..Now with the NEGATIVE......* The front desk attended that worked march 14 2019 had a Nastiest ATTITUDE of all the New Yorkers I encountered the whole visit.*She refused to allow us to pay for 3 hotels room at once but made us do 3 separate transactions which caused my bank to place a hold on the card for fraudulent transactions. 😡* The hotel was informed that we want all the room on the same floor however we had rooms scattered from the 1st floor to the 10th. SMH*Parking in NYC is not the best but and this hotel it was HELL. You have to back down into the garage in a full size SUV..The attendant that worked 3/14/19 she needs to realize she works in customer service. Manners and gratitude is an essential part of of your job. On 3-15-19 another attendant that came in after 2pm is the epitome of what all the employees should mirror.
2018 updated to three stars after a second visit. I was not overcharged like last time, hot water was working this time around which made us much happier. Parking is on street but beware of excessive litter on the streets. Breakfast was your average fare at hotels. Pancake machine is straight out of the Jetsons. Clean room, clean bathroom.2017 Currently trying to resolve a customer complaint with limited success so far. Keep being told the manager is not available. Was charged by the hotel the full price of the room after already being charged by Expedia. The negative customer service experience is overshadowing the fact that the room was clean and breakfast was good. No hot water made our stay quite uncomfortable. Wish I could have written a better review.
Where to start, yes i saw the reviews. Too late to change though. Had hot water but low water pressure. Staff gruff but did their jobs. My biggest concern was the room cleanliness. Hair all over. Coffee spills uncleaned. Sheets with weird stains. Stay away. Only good thing was location to the subway
Good budget hotel, decent rooms, typical Holiday Inn breakfast. Location is close to Yankee stadium & easy off the freeway. Nothing else around there though. Its right up against a major freeway bridge and is incredibly loud at night so be prepared with earplugs. Also the front desk staff is so rude when checking in its almost unbelievable. They act like youre interrupting them when you walk in the door. They have an attitude like theyre too cool but its just kind of funny.
Stayed here twice. First time it was because I had a free stay and the second time was because it was the most convenient place to stay. Also the first time i stayed here they had just opened so I assumed their mistakes were hiccups in getting off the ground . I was wrong. First of all, there was not hot water during right stay! Second of all there was a loud party with smoking and loud music going on till late! But worse their hall music is on 24/7 and loud enough to hear in the room at night so they don’t even abide by their own quiet hours rules. Also the breakfast food although free is awful. I will never stay here again!
Well, honestly the lady that checked us in, Spanish Dominican was not very welcoming at all. I asked for possibly a nice view, did not get it. Not sure if she didnt hear me. The lights were burned out in the bathroom. Also the toilet tissue holder was coming out of the wall. But the room its self was decent. Maybe it was just a bad day.
Today I came to check in at the hotel and it was the worst experience I ever had in my life. When you have people representing an organization and they are your first encounter to your stay there should be no issues the front desk person should always remain professional and pleasant. However my experience with this person was not of the sort it was uncomfortable, she was rude, nasty, unprofessional and disrespectful. Front desk Marissa is a rude person while Im dealing with her to try to get a better understanding of the circumstances she is engaging in conversation with a female co worker and is completely disregarding me and also just being plain old rude.. When I told her that I did not see that on the website about you need a card with chip when I was booking she told me that I should have checked their actual website very rudely. Then at first they was talking in English then they started talking in Spanish and it was about me in Spanish like I didnt know what was being said about me. Im a African American female who understands Spanish clearly. Then I asked her to call her manager please. The manager did not want to come to the front and wanna talk on the phone I refused and then he came after me waiting almost 15 minutes Francisco V(Victoria) from what he said how do I know it is true. This was a horrible representation of the company I will never ever come to this location or any Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn express. Had I knew that you need a chip card then I would have made other arrangements when booking it does not tell you that so for me to be told that rudely and unprofessional is unacceptable. Reading some of the other reviews now Im under there impression that this is a continuous issue that they appear to not care about. Apparently customer service is not what they wanna focus on I know for me this will be the last time I go to any holiday inn location I will take my hard working money elsewhere. While on the original booking page you should know that you need a chip card to book your reservation so that there is no confusion when you come for your stay I should have been shown while booking. Not told me when I get to the hotel. Between these two people I am beyond annoyed they are vile people and Im not done with my complaints about their service and my mistreatment. FYI they already took money off my card now I have to wait 14 business days to get it back makes no sense. You didnt ask me what happened you came very rude and unprofessional you are not a nice person at all neither is the staff Im not the first person who complained and I wont be the last. If I feel disrespected I will defend myself if you are talking to me the you address me and dont ignore me dont talk to me in a condescending manner when Im just trying to understand. Your worker behavior was unacceptable you wasnt there for the whole interaction so you will not know why I was upset. You have workers who disrespect people in Spanish like they cant understand but doesnt matter to me because I wouldnt come back anyway there is a way of approaching a situation but apparently you have not learned that. Also you wanted me to talk to you on the phone which I did refuse so you being allegedly a manager how was that okay when you didnt know the whole situation only part of a story. I will be very much fine with my accommodations thank you very much. With customer service that you and your worker give I will be fine with never coming to any location affiliated with the organization. You came with an attitude and instead of asking me what happened you automatically just backed what she told you on the phone. Neither here nor there I made my complaint and that is it and no biggie. Is there dialogue for that camera no there is not it wasnt only about the card there was more that occurred. However, me not being able to come to this location is not hurting me at all and honestly you did me a huge favor.
My Check in was at 3pm I got there at 8pm, my Room was not ready, its wasnt clean at all, so I was sent to a dirty room bed wasnt done towels on the floor, when I went back downstairs #1 she gave me another Room, that room wasnt ready either, had to go back down stairs #2. I had told I had to wait 30 minutes for the Room, so I went to go get dinner came back went upstairs an the door to the Room was locked had to go back down stairs #3 to tell the Receptionists that the wouldnt work with the key card she said it should, so I went back upstairs card still wouldnt open up the door back downstairs for the #4 to tell her that the door is not opening, she went up stairs and the door was on a master lock she had to open the door. The bathroom had some problems water holes loss in the shower racks where broken or loosen there was hair in the drain it was only a stand up shower no tub made for the handicap which I didnt mine except for the hair. The worse part about the situation is that they have a big staff.
Try to avoid.- Tried to check in at 3pm. Noone was at the desk. Then a young lady eating a stick icecream passedby told me to wait for a colleague to come helpme.- another young lady came to help me. Coldgreeting and no smile. Sometimes, she wouldnteven look at me while I was asking her a question.- Manager tried to sell me a room for $220 tellingme this is the cheapest, while I was able to bookthe room for only $170 on their OWN IHG website.- Door keys didnt work for me and for many othercustomers. Had to go up and down 3 times untilthe manager came up with a machine in his handto fix the door lock.- They promote on the website that they offerparking for an extra $45/day. Please note thatthey only have 8 spaces for 8 cars. And it is a firstcome first serve. But I was able to get a space.- When we had the not working key issue, .. wewere a total of 4 customers in-line waiting forhelp. No one else came to help the lady who alsoshowed no compassion or concern about theproblem as if these things are everyday commonthing.- No automatic garage door. You have to get to thedoor and then call the hotel using your cellphoneto ask them to open the door for you. IN and OUT!- The breakfast was not bad. Breakfast workerswere friendly. Conclusion; The team who run this place are not trained in basic customer service skills, hospitality or in trouble shooting. It fits more as a hostel run by some amateurs more than a Chain-Hotel.It seems to me that they dont like/care for the job. I get a better customer service at our local Pizza shop than this Holiday Inn.Maybe they are under-paid, hence the no care attitude. As for myself and my family, we shall not stay at this location again.
I usually NEVER write reviews good or bad but this hotel was the most disappointing experience and I travel often and even work for a hotel chain (not IHG) so Im familiar with standard hospitality policies. The General Manager Francisco is unprofessional and rude and I would go as far to say RACIST. He enforced a payment policy that none of his staff were even aware of. There was no indication of this policy anywhere on the website or mobile app, when I brought this to his attention he didnt have a valid explanation for the policy so it was more of a personal preference. He refused to take a credit card payment because the card did not have a chip although that same exact card was used during a previous stay with no issues in which he claimed to have no record of but later another employee was able to pull up the previous stay with no issue and print the folio therefore he clearly fabricated that story. When using the ATM machine located in their lobby the machine did not dispense the funds due to an error with the machine itself, Francisco showed no kind of courtesy and was unaccomodating with all the inconveniences. I asked multiple front desk staff about the no chip policy and NONE of them knew anything of the policy which is why the card was used with no issue previously. Had this been a legit policy then we would have been prepared prior ro arriving at this property after driving 10 hours from Michigan. Furthermore, the rooms were not cleaned very well, had to get cleaner from the front desk to clean the mirrors and stains on the sink, the hot water is an issue but its pointless to bring anything to the staffs attention. This property makes the entire IHG company look bad, they need to try again with this one.
Booked a room for an Orthopedic Surgeon after court case, which I have done previously due the proximity of the hotel. Court case was sequestered to different hotel that morning, so I called and explained the situation, possibly rescheduling for next week when we would need to book again, not expecting full refund but some exception. Manager said ABSOLUTELY NOT...NO EXCEPTIONS!! Even Expedias manager called them to ask for exception, and the hotel manager said NO! Do they realize this was a recurring customer? Absolutely horrified at the hotel managers lack of consideration and awful customer retention service (and so was the staff at Expedia!)
The hotel is just across the Harlem River, close to 149th street Metro station (2, 4 and 5 for easy access to east and west sides of Manhattan). About 15 minutes walk from the Yankees stadium. 15-20 min car ride from LGA Airport. There is also a good access to shops such as Target only just 5 minutes away by walk. From the moment we stepped into the hotel, we were greeted with warm smiles and friendly staff, who, I could tell, really strived to meet the customers needs. As requested, they provided us with a high-rise suite. Our stay was restful since we were tired from traveling all day, but since the hotel is close to a busy expressway, the noise from the traffic is rather noticeable. If you are used to city lifestyle, this should be manageable but if you are visiting from a rural setting, it would be difficult to adjust to. An array of options are available for breakfast, from warm toast, freshly brewed coffee and milk. Although the seating is limited, cleaning staff are readily available to clean tables and make room available immediately after guests finish their breakfasts. Housekeeping staff are immediately available to help with requests such as the requirement of extra towels (within 5 minutes after placing a call to the reception). Overall our stay in NYC was made very easy thanks to the staff and the ease of access to the hotel and aminities. I would strongly recommend Holiday Inn Express at The Bronx for friends and family who plan to visit NYC.
Booked 2 rooms both phones in rooms didnt work. The breakfast on Sunday was from 6-10 and when I got there at 9:30 their was nothing there. No eggs, bacon, biscuits, milk, or fruits. I spoke to the front desk about no food available the lady basically told me to talk to the head kitchen supervisor. Sad thing is that a lady with 5 kids came down too and she had to talk to kitchen head. Just horrible!
Brand new building with a great view of Harlem. Awesome location. However, the management in this place sucks. Staff was very unwelcoming and grumpy. Horrible breakfast and overall bad service. I received no wash cloths during my stay, and my water pressure turned into a drip.My last night, while winding down getting ready to shower, a guy unexpectedly knocks on my door dressed in a hoodie. He also announced he was from the front desk. He said someone had posted a photo of a dog online; and that he would be going room to room looking for the dog, and the person who posted it. It ruined my night because I knew the guy was wasting my time. Later, this guy was found to be Francisco Victoria, the GM of the property. What GM walks in and out of guest rooms looking for a dog at 8pm? It was very unnecessary and not IHG policy.
I was traveling through the Northeast for work and was going to be near the city over Labor Day weekend. I had always wanted to go to a Yankees game so I couldnt pass up the opportunity to catch one since I was so close. I arrived on Sunday morning around 10:30. The game was at 1. Brittany, the front desk clerk was very friendly. Being an IHG Rewards member she was able to hook me up with an early check in so I could get settled before the game. The stadium was an easy, 10 minute, straight shot walk down the street. After the game I came back. A staff member named TiCi (not sure how to spell it) turned into my own personal travel agent. I wanted to go into Manhattan so she educated me on the Subway system and gave me direction to the near by station. While I went upstairs to charge my phone she Googled restaurant recommendations and made print outs of restaurant names and addresses of hot spots that were close by time square. She was a joy to talk too and we even continued our pleasant conversation when I returned for the night. When it was time for check out I met Luis who was behind the desk and again got drawn into good conversation with. He was friendly, helpful, and very professional. The hotel itself is great. New, clean, well designed modern rooms. They were small but its NYC so that is to be expected. I was able to find a free parking spot in an adjacent public across the street. I do feel that I need to mention the same thing as other reviews just to be objective - The surrounding area around the hotel is a bit run down and under developed. Not many restaurant options and currently a little isolated. During the day I did not feel as if I was In Danger. However, at night, on my way back from Manhattan, I got lost in the subway which prompted me to take a taxi directly to the hotel and feel that was probably a smart move. Walking around alone in the late night hours from the station to the hotel I wouldnt have been very comfortable with. To sum up, I would definitely recommend this hotel to others if they had the same plans as I and would stay there again if I ever want to catch another game. Thank you to all involved for making my 1 day NYC experience a memorable one!!
Theses Evil conniving people charge me when I canceled my reservation. I called them and they said yes my reservation was canceled and no I didnt need to pay them until I get there. I cancelled HOURS before the dead line. Reach out to them and they still chage me. Now the money wont be back for 8 to 14 days. I cant stand false advertisement!!
11/4/17 No hot water, and the breakfast wasn’t refilled after 9am not sure why they say 10:00am. Wouldn’t stay here again. I come to town for work, and thought I would try it out! BIG MISTAKE. A $40 charge for parking also that isn’t on on the ad. The worst part is they don’t care at the desk. Not concerned about any of it
The convenience to Yankee stadium does not over shadow the issues with this brand new facility. There was no hot water during our over night stay, the cold water smelled like the East river, the beds are extremely hard, and the staff are not knowledgeable about the area. Not to mention its a very rough looking neighborhood.
I will NEVER stay here again! I come to the Bronx every other month and typically stay at the Marriot but decided to try the Holiday Inn, BIG mistake! There is an auto shop right next door that was BLASTING music the entire night. I asked to get a different room away from that side of the building and they would accommodate me. Instead they offered me earplugs. On top of that they wouldnt let me speak to a manager until the next morning. This place is a joke!
I was liking it until they broke into my car and other people as well they stole my speakers my Babies carriage smh and ok they said no cleaning you have to ask for towel sheets and sometimes they forget maybe cause the cov-19 I dont know and the manager she has attitude real bad her ariana she raise my price I was paying $ 130 and she just changed the price to $180 she said cause she could I wont go there nomore unless they get rid of that manager smhb
I️ didn’t even get to stay in the hotel. I️ was calling for availability. First the front desk hung up on me and when I️ called back I️ was on hold for 10mins with no response. Clearly that speaks for the customer service skills of the employees. And reading the reviews im happy I️ dodged this bullet. NO HOT WATER!!! And you are still open for business. Tuh NO THANKS
Good location near grand concourse. Not far from stadium. Friendly staff. Ok breakfast. Was able to get a fix of NYC food I had been missing via delivery or walking to gran concourse. Pizza, bagels, popeyes, chinese food, and carvel.Had to ship some stuff and the Postnet office and the Post Office across from Postnet were a time saver.
For starters I book them by the photos I saw online which was false advertisement when I reported it to the manager he told me he was going to look into it I booked from the 5th of November to the 11th came out to $1,400 was not worth the stay soon as I got there the room was not what was online so I was very disappointed and I booked it to celebrate my engagement DH my thoughts about this hotel staff nice and its clean and now they updated the photos after I spoke to the staff yesterday
I stayed at this property to spend my girlfriends Birthday down in the city and during my stay I got bitten by bed bugs which they say it wasnt and I have pictures of bite marks on my neck and reported it and still nothing , I did work for an exterminator company and do know how they look and when I asked for them to to accommodate or compensate me for the bad experience the manager Francisco Valencia did nothing about the situation but told me that they couldnt refund me my money or give me points I am an ihg rewards member for 7 yrs and never had this experience at any hotel I stayed in the past, this is not a property that I would recommend to anyone .

2021-07-06This is a shelter. It was converted sometime during the pandemic. The staff can be rude at times, and a lot of the appliances upstairs dont really work. The air conditioning doesnt work the microwave doesnt work and our mini fridge doesnt work either. If I want to heat something up I have to go downstairs. And if I want air conditioning I just have to pray. All I can really say is dont be homeless? For transparency I currently live here.

2020-06-11Depending on the staff that works during your stay, you may or may not get your go to breakfast. You may not get the window view of the river when you request it since they have a high chance of being booked. All we could see was the highway and rusty cars underneath( 1st floor). The tv goes blank frequently so its not reliable. The room was decently clean. Even though it had many light fixtures, most remind me of the hospital. I only liked the desk lamp because it had range.I appreciate no carpet in my room since i have allergies. And i appreciate we have a microwave in our room so we dont have to go downstairs to the dining area. The beds are fairly comfortable and i like that i have both soft and firm pillows. Overall its not great but okay.

2018-11-29Modern place with a good location as long as you dont mind taking the subways. Room size is fine despite some other opinions. Standard HIE breakfast. Clean and comfy and nice staff. Some hallway noises can be heard in the rooms, but nothing to complain about. It beats the Manhattan hotel prices and is probably a nicer room.

2019-08-26Walking distance to yankee stadium, takes about 15 minute to get there. The manager was super accommodating. Rooms were a little small but were serviceable, bathrooms were great. Breakfast was also very good. Robert is the best front desk clerk I’ve ever seen in a hotel. Nicest guy you’ll ever meet and makes sure your stay is the best it can be

2018-06-26It was a nice place, nothing really special about it. There was very few parking spaces, so I recommend having someone pick you up and drop you off here instead of parking your car. The room, at least the one I had, was very small and it was somewhat of a...process navigating around my family when we stayed. The breakfast they served was okay, like I said before, nothing special. The staff was nice. It was an okay place to stay for a couple of days.

2019-03-24Stayed a couple days with my children. Rooms were nice, little small but manageable. Breakfast was good. Space clean and organized. When we checked in there was a very pleasant cheerful young lady there. The front desk attendant that was on after her was annoyed because I interrupted her cell phone call to ask her for toilet tissue. Also, the maintenace guy was rude as hell. He was annoyed that people (myself and son) was actually walking in the lobby at 9pm on a Saturday while he was mopping. We also asked him where to put a bag of garbage. The gentleman rolled his eyes and and sucked his teeth and just said Oh I guess you can put it over there.

2018-12-28My fiance and I came up for the Pinstripe Bowl. I must say that we had a great experience! From the moment we came through the door until the moment we left, everyone was helpful and courteous. We were able to check in a half hour early without any issues. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and there were the needed amenities that made it feel like a home away from home. Also, parking right across the street from the hotel was free. We will definitely be repeat customers on our next trip. The only thing I would change would be the outcome of the game....

2019-10-10First time coming to NY for business. The room was clean, had all the amenities I expect from Holiday inn express and the view from the room was excellent. Definitely went beyond my expectations - and this is coming from someone picky about little things that wouldnt matter to most people. The highlight of my stay was the front desk representative (Robert?). The man was exceptional in terms of making all the guests feel welcome and very helpful in terms of navigating the city to fulfilling every single request a guest can have staying at the hotel. Just over the past few months Ive stayed at a fair number of hotels, most of them Holiday Inns, and Robert pushed my experience at this property above all others.I will 100% stay at this property again next time I visit NY!

2017-11-12Why is the lobby and breakfast room so cold!? The room was nice. Heat worked well. Shower/hot water was good (water pressure was a little weak). Bed was very comfortable. Very good quality towels. Unfortunately, the floor was exposed tile, which was extremely cold. Unfortunate because it was was so cold outside and it made the room seem so much colder than it actually was. But the oddest thing by far was that there was apparently no heat turned on in the lobby or breakfast room. All the guests are wearing full winter wear inside while eating breakfast or waiting for rides in the lobby or checking in or out. The employees are dressed as if they are working out doors. Weird. I wonder if they turn the air conditioning off in the summer.
