Holiday Inn Express New York-Brooklyn, an IHG Hotel in Brooklyn
Categories
Location on the map
Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, US
Positive: Good water pressure in the shower. The elevator takes a very long time, one time it never came and had to just use the stairs. Negative: They offer parking and say you need to reserve your parking ahead of time because its a small lot. If you dont show up early in the day, they fill the lot anyway, and then its a little bit of an ordeal to negotiate getting a different parking spot
Positive: The breakfast was decent. Negative: The carpet and curtains were very dirty. They only offered maid services for cleaning after a 3 night stay. The duvets were stained and the comforters had holes in them. The elevator was extremely slow and the hotel was old.
Although I enjoyed my hotel room and the location, the staff was rude! We got ONE notice of noise complaint and we stopped immediately and went to sleep. The next morning they call to tell us that we needed to leave because they received more complaints. Not sure how that is possible if we were sleeping. Apparently you need to tiptoe and whisper if youre going to stay here no matter the time. I hope the couple having loud intercourse on our floor also got kicked out. Also, the lady at the breakfast bar has an attitude and yelled at us because we went behind the tables even though there was NO sign that said DO NOT GO PAST THIS POINT. BTW Dont eat the eggs, they are very spongey and gross.
Positive: Location is good. Near to subway. Lots of restaurants Negative: Not clean. Not maintained. My bath tub clogged and they took hours after repeated calls to fix it. They gave me a room in basement without windows or any view, felt claustrophobic in there. All the pictures had a window and a view of Brooklyn,
I booked this place for one night as I had a meeting nearby. It was too loud to sleep both from noise in the hall (thin doors) and street noise. Parking is very limited. There is no gym. Breakfast is the typical disgusting fare with no healthy options. To top it all off, the bathroom was an unnatural warm, damp room with active mold, rust, stains, etc. Stains on the sheets too. The only reason this isn’t a one star review is because the staff were so available and helpful.
Please do not stay at this holiday inn. Worse experience in a room I’ve ever had. The rooms are terribly small. The bathroom was DISGUSTING!! There was mold in the shower and walls!!!! Housekeeping knocked on the door and didn’t clean anything in the room, only took the garbage. Stayed here for 5 days!!! I will never be booking with this place again.
Positive: The location is great, just a few blocks away from lovely brownstones and tons of great restaurants. Also pretty close to Prospect Park! Negative: We were told at checkin that we had to stay on the first floor because we had a pet. The first floor is actually underground and looks up to the street. With the pet fee, it felt like we paid more to stay in the dungeon. Room was also quite cramped.
Booked the wrong Holiday Inn in Brooklyn (this one), tried to cancel the reservation 30 minutes later once I rebooked with the correct one (1200 Broadway Avenue) and realized my mistake.Manager wasnt in so they couldnt process the cancellation at the time, but just was notified a day later they wont be refunding me. Will be disputing with my credit card company. Pretty shocked by the poor service since I followed up quickly after making the erroneous booking.
Positive: Friendly staff; quick check-in; location to where I was going the next day. Negative: I did not love that the elevator wasnt working... Didnt realize I booked a 9-story walk up. Thankfully I was only there one night and wasnt planning on coming and going while there anyway.
Positive: Price and location. Negative: My wife arrived near midnight after a flight from Porltand OR. She was given a basement room that was dank and not clean. They did move her the next day and the room was much better. My wife was there for a family emergency. I am disappointed.
We reserved and drove 5 hours to this location, none of policies for number of guests in the room or weight of our dog was mentioned anywhere in reservation, and when we arrive they bring us bunch of papers with extra new policies and fees that we were not aware of and were not trying to resolve any issue, they kept arguing with us about their policy that was never mentioned before. Absolutely hedious service
Positive: One of the staff was friendly and helpful. Location was reasonably good, given that it was in Gowanus. Negative: On three different days, the elevator was not working so I had to take stairs to the 7th floor. Once I got a call saying the elevator was working again. Calling and having trash picked up was inconsistent.
I left my little red plush dog, Lavelle in Brooklyn at this hotel. They cant find him. I called the very next day when I got back to Texas when I realized he wasnt in suitcase. It took me three whole days to get a hold of the manager who is in charge of the linen company. The front desk clerk JC was sighing in the phone and putting me on long holds, as if I was bothering her looking for stuffed animal. I finally got a hold of the manager and te hotel has a linen company they use and Angela the assistant manager would not give me the information to check if they had seen him. But she insisted that she contacted them and same result, no Lavelle. I asked her if she can please have the linen company check the cameras like she did, but she refused. She also refused to give me the main managers number. My mother gave me that dog for Valentines Day when I was 13 and she passed away after I turned 16. I take Lavelle every time I travel. I dont have much left of her in general but I had him. I cant even sleep anymore, I just picture his little red face every night in bed or I look at the picture below.. Its been 3 weeks now and he still hasnt turned up. Im not understanding why she cant just ask the linen company to check the camera. Shes just saying oh they wont do that. Closed mouths dont get fed, thats what my mom used to always tell me. They are very inconsiderate of my red dog Lavelle. How can a red plush dog not stand out against all white linen? And both places have lost and found but he hasnt turned up. Im devastated.
Positive: The staff was friendly Negative: The original room i was given was dirty. When given another room that one was clean but the beds were uncomfortable and made noise at the slightest touch. The door to the bathroom had an alignment issue which made closing the door difficult.
Positive: The shower head and they were pet friendly. I already sent an email to corporate about this hotel. Negative: The furnitures were damage, the carpet was overly soiled and dirty, mold and rust in the bathroom. I already sent an email with picture and videos of the hotel room.
Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.Booked online, drove 5 hours to come here and stay for the night. First, I looked for a pet friendly hotel and there was nothing about Pet’s Weight, and if you are allowed to have 3 people in a 2 people room. I get there and then the “customer service” says: Your dog is too heavy, I said he’s 55 pounds and she’s like but our policy is only 50!And then she said that I got emailed with all of the information and here is the email, no info about the weight or amount of people in the room. Worst experience ever, please if you are looking for a place to stay, look around a bit more there are way more hotels around. This place is terrible
The location and nearby resources were great. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The price, considering other options, was great and there was a clean enough giant tub with jets, which again for the price and location was definitely a plus. You do have to choose that room type. On the negative side, I wasnt very impressed with the cleanliness. There was no mattress pad on under the sheet which seemed weird. The bed was comfortable, but well worn in. There were only two, very well used pillows on the bed (staff were cool about bringing some more for us). There were some curious stains on the ceiling, the TV was small and furniture bumped and bruised in a few places. Just felt like it was time for a refresh. Despite all this, I would recommend this hotel as a good option for multiple night stays in the Park Slope area which can add up quickly.
Overall our stay was a good value as compared to other hotels in NYC. The desk staff was friendly and helpful but the room cleanliness was definitely not to our standards. The breakfast food choices were very good considering the limitations posed by COVID-19 and the servers were efficient and accommodating.
Perfect location near TimesSquare and staff was amazing and helpful. Henry is a charm! Our only suggestion is that the room needed a deeper clean than it was getting. We understand w/ COVID that the room is not serviced every day but the rugs were dirty and there was mold in the shower. The shower door did not close all the way and the floor got very wet. Usual amenities, such as washcloths and hand soap, were not in the room but were gladly provided at front desk when we asked. Breakfast was good choices but dining area very small so get down there early. Our room was not ready when we arrived but we were offered extra points if we accepted a different room (which we happily did, tho our points havent been added yet :-() Priced right for the location and included breakfast.
The rooms are small but pretty decent for the price. the comforter that was in our room had a bad odor. smelled like the laundry was left in the washing machine for days then they decided to put them in the dryer.. breakfast was very and I mean very limited. no hot breakfast by the way. and the staff, oh my goodness, they are like hawks watching your every move when you are in the breakfast room. one staff yelled at the guy for grabbing two apple juice. she said only one apple juice is allowed. seriously?!! then another one yelled another guest for crossing a table to reach out for a bagel.. this kind of guests treatment is a red flag for me.. never coming back. we paid about 700$ for 3 nights. same price you will pay if you stay somewhere in midtown or downtown. I should have picked the hotel and not have my husband be in charge of it
I would like to compliment the front desk for their exceptional service. Every time that I stay at the Holiday Inn Express in down town Brooklyn, I feel like the character Norm from the sitcom Cheers with their welcome. Although it is an older facility and it needs some TLC, anything that I need they provide. I will point out that I do have options as to where I stay, however I do stay at this hotel because of their great customer service.Merry Christmas!
Perfect location, parking on site. Plenty of room with great workable desk and office chair. Restaurants are all within walking distance. If you care to stay in microwave and mini fridge are supplied in your room along with a Keurig. Safe neighborhood, look no further for your traveling business needs. Great hotel at a great price.
While the rooms are larger than most Ive stayed in while in NYC, the staff does not go out of their way to make you feel welcome...especially the breakfast bar employees who I found to be very rude to the guests. The elevator is very slow and doesnt seem to work efficiently. No hot foods at breakfast. Phone not connected in room to call front desk if needed. Rooms only cleaned after 3rd night. Bath supplies not stocked. Fan in bathroom did not work well.
I’ve never stayed somewhere with so many carpet stations or needed to change rooms so many times. When I first checked in, I was put in a room that had some big dirty apparatus in the bathroom. I asked the housekeeper to tell me what it was, and instead of answering my question, she told me to call the front desk twice. I went downstairs and asked to have my room changed, and I was changed to another room with a dirty tub. I needed my room changed again, and when I got to the room I gave up and stayed in, there were still tons of stains on the carpet, the mirror was dirty and streaked, and I saw small spots of mold on the bathroom ceiling in the shower. I’ve been to Holiday Inn Express locations all over the country and have never been disappointed until this trip. I want at least a partial refund.
Surprisingly nice! Based on reviews we read we werent expecting much. However they must have upgraded recently. The rooms were small, but everything seemed to be updated and in good condition. The staff was friendly and attentive. Overall a good experience, just gave 4 Stars because of the room sizes, other than that a nice place to stay.
The room was clean, staff was nice but room 308 next to the elevator had a compressor going on every 5-10 seconds, which did not allow us to sleep at all. It was an expensive, unrestful experience. This room should be sound proofed or not rented as I am positive that you have had complaints before. We ask for a refund or gift certificate to another stay at the same rate please.
The Booking Rules Issue.-If you check in after 12am Fee of $100 Dollars.-If I tried to change my reservation to the next day, Sorry cant do that there are no rooms available.-Suggested i have a friend check in for me to avoid fee and loose my room. No sorry cant have someone else check in for you, if you do then you cant use your reward points for the room.Staff were rude.Did not try to offer solutions.Did not listen to my concerns.Over talked. Did not speak to me directly in the eye but chose to only communicate with the man that was in the group even though all reservations were in my name.Consistently talked over me as if my concerns, questions and comments were not valued. His name was Junior.Did not listen. I had to call the reservation number to get my issues resolved because he was not listening nor trying to be helpful.I have never dealt with a more rude, inconsiderate group of staff employees in all of my travels with IHG. Next day another staff person that was just as rude, when only asking for extra towels. The hotel itself needs to be updated. 1st impression Front desk area uninviting, soiled chairs. Elevator worn and torn linoleum. Carpet in room dirty.Bathroom fan not working.Refridgerator not working.
Convenient location, decently friendly staff, rooms in desperate need of an upgrade. TV was unwatchable from washed colors, ac unit clunky and old, double beds were maybe shorter than average? I’m 5”9’ and feet hung off the bed. Booked a king bed with her tub but was not honored at the location. Not recommended if you’re going to a nets game.
I stayed here for a long weekend with my family. The rooms are new but they won’t look that way for long. They are not being kept very clean. I was extremely disappointed when we checked into our room and it was warm. We went to change the temperature on the thermostat and it didn’t work. After contacting the front desk, we found out that night they control it. We asked them to turn on the air in our room and almost froze that night. Not only was the room temperature turned down too much, but the bed my children were sleeping in had no comforter. Called for a comforter the next day and they brought two fitted sheets. Asked for another comforter, I was told they didn’t have anymore and the sheets were thick so we could use those. 🤦🏽♀️ When we arrived we also had no cups. Called the front desk for cups and was told they were running short. About an hour later they brought cups. I think a lot could have been avoided if our room was cleaned or even checked daily. We asked for towels each day and the room hasn’t been touched since we arrived. Overall, I expected a great experience that wasn’t even mediocre. The staff was nice but my family and I won’t return because of the lack of resources, poor customer satisfaction, and and failure to comply.
The room was small, but clean. The Covid restricted cold breakfast was abysmal. The hotel is worn and torn at this point and could use a facelift, but the main irritant was the extremely slow elevator -- a single shaft for all uses. That meant that we waited while staff were moving the cleaning carts to other floors or when other guests were moving luggage in or out. If you have patience for the wait, the price is good and the location is very convenient.
Its a good basic hotel. Nothing fancy but an excellent value for the price and location. It was exactly what we needed. The breakfast was not as good as it would have been without COVID restrictions, but it was still OK. Well definitely try to stay there again if we go to NYC/Brooklyn
Clean and COVID safe. Comfortable double bed room. Small lobby with 1 elevator long waits. Has a mini fridge in the rms but no microwave as I was told but one avail on 2nd floor. Staff was not rude but not friendly or welcoming especially checking in experience was horrible and confusing. I thought this was a newer hotel but not the case needs some repairs inside elevator and some of the furniture in the rooms. Housekeeping only comes every 3 days but we were there 2 nights still need replacement towels but none available per housekeeping. They do offer on site paid daily parking.
Great service when checking-in, parking is limited so if you need it pay for the parking pass at reservation. Breakfast the first day did not have a lot to choose from and the attendant was very rude and had her phone on speaker talking to someone. When asked to get a coffee, she eye rolled and sighed as she got up. Right now with COVID we as customers can not get any of the food except fruit and yogurt. There is vending on the 2nd and 5th floor. Hand sanitizer was available on every floor at the elevator.
The overall experience was excellent. The staff was friendly helpful and curtious. The room was quaint and of great quality. Beds were comfortable. Shower worked well. Gorgeous view. Of Brooklyn. Grab and go breakfast was a plus. Security in building was comforting and secure.
Hotel is well located, close to subway station (few steps) and close to restaurants, Starbucks, wholefoods.Service is not great, staff is not friendly or attentive. Had issue with leaking in my room and got moved to another room only until next day. Two good things: location and breakfast.
One elevator for employees and guests,The room is really small. And very dusty. No hot breakfast, they block the food area so the guess has to tell them what they wantThey not control the use of face mask 😷Also the not control noise guestsNo free parking $$Smoker $$$Pets $$$
I would do yourself a favor and pick a different hotel, maybe one that has been updated recently. The rooms are very small and the pictures online are deceiving considering I got a room with 2 beds. The shower curtain doesn’t cover the shower well at all so the water goes everywhere, seriously had a huge puddle on the floor. There are no wash cloths provided which I thought was weird, just towels. The vending machine in the hallway for drinks was completely empty. The furniture is worn down significantly and the beds are terribly uncomfortable. Not worth $200 a night plus $40/day for parking.
As a city hotel, this property is a great value and wonderful location. You also need to remember, its a city hotel room and its not spacious. This is not a room youll want to spend much time in, other than sleeping. If youre here on business or with other plans out and about, this property is idea. Plus, the staff is very responsive to your needs as guests.
After not travelling for over a year due to Covid-19, my daughter and I needed a quick weekend getaway. Brooklyn is close to home, and there is a lot to do there. Our main goals were to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and see the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. We also wanted to enjoy the great restaurants Brooklyn has to offer. This hotel is about a 30 minute walk to both sites, and surrounded by great restaurants. The front desk staff were great, and they offered free, unlimited bottled water, which was a great bonus.
One of the most unprofessional hotels I have ever been at. Rude front desk staff, attitudes every time I called or even went to the deskNo linens available when I first checked in. Went 2 days without being able to receive fresh towels. Breakfast was a joke every morning. Workers even joked how bad this site was, wish I knew prior to my stayManagement was even worse, rude with no customer service skills at all.Housekeeping was a joke as well. Visit this hotel at your own risk. Just a horrible stay all around . This was a picture of the nasty chair that was in my room 😩Assistant Manager is a rude nasty women
Breakfast was still under COVID protocols. We received a bag of mostly food I didnt want, but traded items with my wife back at our rooms. I tried to give back the uneaten, unopened food, but breakfast staff didnt seem to want it back. The hotel is overall average and was reasonable for the price. Id recommend it if someone was looking to stay in this part of Brooklyn, but not to go out of the way to stay there. Elevator is a bit slow, we were on the top floor, so we contended with this frequently. We stay at a lot of IHG properties and they seem to be radically average. Im ready to be wowed!
Positive: I like the distance I dont like the fact that there is no parking lot or you have to pay so much for the parking lot plus K all that money for the hotel room. Negative: The fact that you have to pay for parking no one left you already paid that much for a room that you only spend not even a whole day obeying cause check in time is at 4 oclock and check out is at 11 AM
We stayed 4 days. The room was clean when we arrived and the bed was good. The only elevator is extremely slow, old and not very nice inside. Room is very small for the price we paid, no one came to clean our room and bring clean towels even though we asked each day. We had to go to the front desk and ask for clean towels. Breakfast was good for a bag breakfast. But when we left at 6 am there was no breakfast ready and there was no coffee in the breakfast area. Breakfast starts at 7.
Enjoyed my stay, very nice staff and the hotel was quiet. Free breakfast in the second floor lounge and if you the missed it you can order off the menu and they will deliver to your room. There are several restaurants within walking distance. They also have a business center for all of you business travelers. The only thing that is missing is a gym. But hey, you cant have everything.
First, sadly I did not choose this hotel and was forced to stay here due to work. Location wise, its good if you want to explore Brooklyn with easy enough access to Manhattan. However, this is a pet friendly hotel and my carpets smelled of urine despite the AC running the entire time. I didnt let my bare feet touch the ground once. I was on the 7th floor but the musty dampness persisted making my clothes smell. The furniture is extremely worn, lamp shade had stains and a childs scribbles on it. Unless you absolutely cannot afford another hotel, dont stay here.
All of the staff were very good. The breakfast was very good due to pandemic limitations. The bathroom was fine. The room quality was not. The beds, carpet, and curtains need to be replaced. There were questionable smoke and other odor issues on our arrival. We did mention it and when left and we came back the next day., it was gone. I don’t know if they sprayed something or what.
While the location of the hotel is good, close to transportation and restaurants, the building is showing its age. Its time for a refresh. The buffet breakfast which used to be good has been discontinued due to Covid. You now get a grab-and-go bag for breakfast that contains nothing I would consider eating. There is also no place to eat it even if you wanted to. The eating area is closed to guests and the rooms are so small there is no place to eat except on the bed. I have stayed at this hotel many times prior to Covid and been satisfied. Four days of no garbage pick-up and no replacement of towels was too long.
Poor staff assistance, impossible to contact front desk when fire alarm went off at midnight and we were on 9th floor. Could not contact anyone for over 1 1/2 hours. Grab n go breakfast was not good. Maid service only once every 3 - 4 days. Two vending machines, and no other food in hotel. General manager did not adjust bill to apologize for lack of contact about fire alarm (which went off for over 1 hour). Elevators were not working while fire alarm went off.
I’ve been coming here since they built the hotel, when I first started going it was beyond spotless the staff was always super nice and very thorough I never had a problem with any toiletries or anything missing in my room or dirty sheets or anything like that. But lately the quality of the rooms have been 2.5 stars at best. They say the rooms are smoke-free but obviously people smoke in them and they still smell like cigarettes, the bathroom sink was leaking and it was mold in the corners of the bath (that’s why I only take showers when I’m not home). The bathroom didn’t have any soap any shampoo or conditioner I didn’t really care about that stuff because I brought that stuff with me but it is usually in the room. And the air conditioner barely worked like trying to control the rooms temperature took forever to adjust I don’t know how this algorithm works, but I don’t rate 4 stars I rate it 2 stars
Not great at all, poor air conditioning unit placement, poor shower, very small and cramped room, parking lot amenity was good, grab and go breakfast was good, staff was good,. It’s just an old, never updated facility. Location is good. New sheets for the bed are needed, better pillows also for the bed are needed, better lighting might help.
This hotel is the perfect location for what we like to do in Brooklyn. Everything is within walking distance. The staff is very helpful. There is still a grab and go breakfast served, as per COVID regs. Its fine and convenient. The rooms are big enough, especially since you really are not there for much other than sleeping.
We picked this hotel for the convenience and location. Upon arrival I asked for a quiet room and got put right next to the ice machine. I was only there for 2 nights so I wasnt too worried but it was bothersome as people were getting ice very early in the morning which woke me up on both mornings. The hotel was clean. The bathroom was extremely small. I was unable to keep the door open while showering because the door blocked the lighting in the shower if open. The room was spacious with ample room to move around.
We stayed here for the weekend because we were getting married down the street, so we coordinated a room block for our guests. We had fantastic rates to begin with, but then we were offered lower rates soon after setting this up! When I checked into our room the morning of our wedding to get ready, the room was decorated to perfection! There were balloons, banners, rose petals and some very sweet gifts! I was blown away! Later on in the morning while we were getting our hair and makeup done a delivery arrived and it was 2 champagne flutes, 2 splits of prosecco, a berry purée to add to the prosecco, chocolate covered strawberries and French macarons. Also, our guests each had a hand written note in their rooms for when they checked in. I was absolutely floored by the hospitality we were shown! Couldn’t have asked for a better wedding weekend and we send the BIGGEST thanks to JoAnn who made this all happen!
For one, I got the the property and the Jamaican desk attendant mis gendered me and when I corrected him, he started to laugh with the other Jamaican security guard. I check him and he’s going back and forth with me... THE GUEST when he is dead wrong. Fast forward, we get to the room... the bathroom is filthy ... they did not get rid of the toiletries from the previous guest and left half used items in the bathroom. The tub was filthy, the sheets were clean but then again, who knows if they cleaned it. Fast forward to 3 or 4 am, the same desk attendant is arguing with another guest right in front of the breakfast areas. The entire 2nd floor heard this screaming match .. as a result, i slept terribly and left the next morning. An absolute waste of money and the people are extremely rude. Will be asking for my money back.
A week ago, my wife and I booked a hotel from 05/21/21 - 05/25/21 in Brooklyn, NY where we had never stayed before. When looking at the options we decided to go to the Holiday Inn Express New York-Brooklyn since we knew we could count on certain standards, while some of the other hotels were unknown to us. We have stayed at several IHG hotels from Inter Continental’s to Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express’, so we know what to expect. We have also stayed at different hotels the past year and a half and are used to the changes in effect due to COVID 19. I am saying all this to explain that there were no unrealistic expectations to what we got at our stay in your hotel in Brooklyn.1.The rooms are very small, the furniture old, scuffed and in disrepair. The carpet is old, extremely stained and looks dirty. The desk chair’s fabric was peeling off the back. The images online completely misrepresent this hotel.2.The TV is at east 20 years old providing a grainy image.3.The bathtub drainage was extremely slow making it impossible to have a shower without standing in ankle deep water. We talked to the front desk regarding having someone come to fix this issue, but nobody came nor was it addressed in any way making us believe this is the norm.4.When we checked-in we were not advised of the revised cleaning procedure leading us to believe they were back in place. We decided to check on it the following day and were told that unless requested room service was provided every 3 days. We requested it for the following day and never got it. We stayed for 3 nights and even though we asked for room service never got any!5.There were people smoking cigarettes and pot on our floor, seeping into our room and clothes. 6.After all this, as they are apologizing for housekeeping not getting to our room, they refused to allow us to stay for late check-out wanting to charge us for any extra hour! 7.There is only one elevator in this hotel, used for guests and as a service elevator too. It is slow and requires a long wait most of the times one has to use it. It is definitely insufficient. I urge you to review this property and re-evaluate if you would like to still keep it representing your name in these conditions. As a client, in the future, I will no longer assume that your name represents the quality I expected in the past. Unfortunately, all the good experiences in the past go out the window with one bad one like this one. It wasn’t just one or two small issues.Sincerely,
I booked the room from Friday - Monday. I was called by the staff that I had to check in by 3 pm on Friday to gaurentee a room for Friday. I thought if you book a room and dont cancel, you still should be able to get a room. They called me twice asking me what time I would arrive Friday. I was really frustrated with the night staff that called because I had already spoken to the manager who assured me I would have a room. The second night there was a flood that damanged a few items worth more then the room cost. I woke up to a puddle in the room. They transfered me after I requested a change, but the change was not offered even tho I cleary couldnt sleep in that room. The transfered room air condintioner didnt work. The room stayed at 78 degrees and it was warm outside. One of the worst stays ever. Also I noticed the carpert needs cleaning, after I noticed my new socks we soiled from the carpert.
Everything about our stay was very good. There were only two things that need to be pointed out regarding the bathroom. The outlet for the hairdryer is right in the corner of the wall to the left of the lighted mirror. Because of the close proximity of the outlet to the side of the mirror that juts out from the wall, the outlet is virtually inaccessible and you cant plug anything in. I had to plug the hairdryer in an outlet beside the bed. Also, the toilet is located within a couple of inches of the vanity and you cant use the toilet without getting a bruise on your arm or leg from bumping into the corner of the vanity.
The hotel has a great location, but it needs renovation, even though the website says it was last renovated in early 2020. Too expensive - we stayed on points, but the number of points was excessive, more than similar hotels in Manhattan. Expected more for the price. Parking fee also was excessive. Grab n Go free breakfast was not great. Ask for your bill and check charges before leaving.
The hotel booking and welcoming process was great. The staff has sanitizer dispensers available on various stations for the guests. The room appeared clean but the rug was clearly not vacuumed and I found some bottle covers in the area where the trash can was located. Otherwise, more than 2 pillows should be provided or larger pillows for the comfort of the clients. I did ask for additional pillows which were delivered shortly after. Due to COVID the refreshments are limited so I didnt partake of the bagged breakfast served.
This was a clean comfortable hotelService was great friendly and accommodating staff, I arrived early driving into city and they were able to get me checked in and I was able to park my car at hotel. There is no available street parking in the city. Thank you to all staff
Positive: Location Negative: The comfort has holes in it¿ Housekeeping never cleaned the room our stay. We had to ask for towels and sheets (made up the bed myself), no pillow cases to change. We had to empty the garbage daily and was instructed to place it outside the doe. SMHÂ
Price is reasonable but dont expect a 3 star hotel. Rooms, lobby, staff, breakfast, is everything you pay for. Midrange Motel grade experience. Pricing unreliable, over phone staff gave me one price for parking and after booking they hiked the parking price. Front desk woudnt pick calls, and non-courteous/not helpful.
Everything was well. The front desk ladies are very warm and welcoming. The only thing that bothered me was a really loud house keepers in the morning. I would’ve slept in longer had it not been for them talking a bit too loud to each other. Overall it was a good experience though.
Positive: Location in Brooklyn Negative: The lack of a hot breakfast even though we paid for it is still a problem as it was when we stayed earlier this year. The lack of daily room service is awful. The extreme difficulty in getting clean towels and wash clothes is ridiculous.
I’ve stayed at many Holiday Inn Express locations over the years and all over the country - as an IHG credit card platinum elite member and this is below average/poor.- Staff is indifferent.- Rooms are dingy.- No hot breakfast, and they give you oat meal cups but there is no hot water so what’s the point?- 2 flimsy pillows for a king size bed.- we drove straight from Florida and checked in at 3 am. Asked if we could have late check-out, which is usually given as an IHG member and was told to call be at 9 am which defeats the purpose. If you’ve stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, this will be a very different experience.
Great location but bad service. I paid $40 a day for parking and every night I would get back to the hotel they had no parking spots available. I would have to let the front desk know Ian’s they would say I’ll have a employee move and we will call you when a spot becomes available. Since covid they are not providing room service every day. But they advised every three days they provide room service. Well I was there for six nights and room service was never provided I asked for towels and they said they will bring them to the room which they never did.
Friendly welcome staff and clean environment. Elevator was out morning of checkout but no sign posted on our floor. We saw sign in lobby when we walked down for breakfast but had little time to climb back up crowded elevator with others coming down to retrieve our luggage and check out in time. Would have thought front desk would have said no problem but I had to reason with them before they agreed late checkout was out of my control.
I am a native New Yorker, move to Chicago and returned for two weeks business trip. I was always curious about this hotel. I found that is is dated, the bed was extremely uncomfortable and the essence of weed is strong here. My wife visited for the weekend and was really disappointed. That said, the staff is excellent and accommodating, the location is great; but there are better options and newer hotels being built a block away. Parking is also very limited, however the staff will help.
Room smelled bad at my arrival and money was taken from my deposit to cover it. I had had a previous issue in the past with cleanliness (including the fact that my door looked as if it had been kicked in by police) but thought it may have been an isolated event because I had stayed before with no issues. Either they are under new management or they have new staff that don’t care. Either way I won’t be going back there.
Positive: Location Negative: There was no hot breakfast as advertised and they refused to let me use the toaster for my cold bagel. There was only 1 elevator to be shared between staff ( housekeeping) and guest with a limit of 2 persons in at a time and the hotel has 9 floors
My husband took me to Brooklyn for Valentine’s Day weekend we spent most time in the room except for one day and magically the toilet overflowed and it’s smelt like mold all night long the supervisor on shift cannot tell me or my husband how any why the toilet overflowed.. I believe it’s always happen because that room had so much water damage …
Good location to food and public transportation. Staff were very good.Room was not as clean as I liked it. I found crumbs in my air conditioner, clock was dirty, towel did not smell fresh, was not comfortable with the outdated room. there was stains on my curtains.I stayed here about 5 years ago and it was great. This time around this hotel needs an update.
I was under the impression that this hotel had parking for all of their guests. Instead it’s limited to the first handful of people that get the parking tag before they run out of spots. Walls are so thin you can hear other guests arguing. The a/c and heater unit had to be unplugged from the wall because the knobs were not on the unit to use it properly so in order for me to not freeze to death i unplugged it. Breakfast is frozen jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches which were not worth eating. I asked for one bed and i got a room with two smaller beds instead yet one of the bed had garbage that came off the heater unit so i asked for the sheets to be completely taken away since I had no clue what that stuff on the bed could have been. There was also coffee and tea to make but no keurig to make it with. When I asked the front desk they told me they don’t know why it was in the room. Not the answer anybody would want to hear. I wouldn’t stay here if you paid me. I was told for my inconvenience I would be refunded some money which never happened. I don’t mean to make this sound harsh but the stay was not worth my money sadly. I might just get a air bnb next time for the same price.
I booked one night because I could not stay in my apartment. Due to COVID-19, I did not expect it to be crowded nor dirty. Was it crowded? No. Was it dirty? YES.I checked in, and the front desk agent was pleasant. I went off to my room, unfortunately located next to the ice machine that happened to be used almost every 15 minutes, which disturbed my peace constantly. I have no idea who or how many people needed that much ice but whatever.Anyway, the room was not clean, which I found odd since the lobby had this sign about their cleaning procedures. I found peoples nails, hairs, and odd stains. Absolutely disgusting.I honestly hope I didnt leave with bedbugs. DO NOT STAY HERE. Go somewhere else.
Also, maybe not even good. The hotel was situated on a sketchy street. The lobby was small; the elevator was small; and the room was very very small (and I had a king bed corner room!). The room was also outdated with old curtains and carpet with stains and whatnot. The elevator smelled like umm...just not pleasant. Tight corridors leading to the room and overall not a decent place. Not to mention parking on the property was $50/night for guests otherwise had to search for parking on what looked like industrial streets. No turndown service so the room was in the messy state I left it in upon return. Definitely not a hotel fit for anyone traveling for business.
Hotel is nice, rooms could be updated. I had a door that wouldnt close all the way. Room was extremely small as well as bed. No housekeeping, and with small children it was not good. Overall, for the price and location it was a good hotel to stay at. Grab and go breakfast was great.
I booked that room for three nights, for my birthday weekend. I got the king room with the whirlpool tub. When we arrived the set up of the room was very awkward, there was a large wardrobe in front of the bed and instead of the dresser with the TV. The carpet had been stained from what looks like someone threw up, and it has been there for so long it was hard. The girl at the front desk made it a point to stress that all rooms were non smoking which was fine with me because we do not smoke, but as soon as we open the door to the room the ceiling was covered with soot and reeked it of cigarettes. I bought my own cleaning supplies and Lysol wipes which certainly did not go unused. The wallpaper was peeling and it looks like there was a layer of mold growing by the windowsill. There were also stains on the bathroom ceiling, and stains with in the whirlpool tub itself. The tub also had a very deep and sharp chip in it. I spent more time cleaning then enjoying myself and I feel like it was a complete waste of money to be honest, I felt like I was staying in a motel by the side of the highway.
Great value! The location is awesome - easy to check out Park Slope and surrounding adorable neighborhoods. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was lovely - Angela was an absolute rockstar! Will definitely recommend to friends & family that visit.
Our stay was during the Covid pandemic. Basically, this stay was okay but, the room was very small, better suited to single occupancy, though it has a King bed. With 2 adults in this room there was hardly any room to move around, and only a single chair on which to sit. This made in-room meals a challenge. Though there was a luggage stand, there was virtually no place to put it that wasnt in the way except inside the closet. We are both normal (not obese) adults and moving around in this room meant single file. If we come back, we will be sure to book a larger room. Some furniture surfaces were dusty, and there was a long black hair drape in the toilet (I have bright red hair in a pixie cut and my husband is bald with white hair fringe).Though small, reasonably well appointed and brightly lit, the bathroom has the sort of lighting thats poor for applying make-up. It also didnt have a magnifier (shaving) mirror. The walls are not well sound-proofed. Guests arrived at 3:08 AM at the room next door and made a racket in the hall and going into their room. I ask the to quiet down. They then had a shouting match in their room at a little after 4 AM - I called the desk. Then they started again about just after 5. Not a good nights rest! Our wake up call arrived on time at 7:00AM, but the recorded voice said it was 7:49 putting me into momentary panic until I picked up my phone and saw it was, indeed 7:00.There was no clock in the room. The furniture in the room, though attractive is too large for this room, taking up too much of the little space. A smaller armoire, chest of drawers, desk and the addition of another place to sit, i.e. a foot rest that matches the chair, would help to make this room more user friendly. We would consider staying at this hotel in the future, but we would book a larger room
I was disappointed that IHG has chosen to use COVID as a cost savings measure. We were informed at check-in that housekeeping is only every three days, so although we stayed two nights, there was no place to dispose of trash, no bed making, etc. Breakfast is just a bag of carbs. You have to wear a mask all the time. COVID restrictions in NY and across the USA have relaxed, but IHG is continuing reduced services for the same price. Every adult that wants a COVID vaccine, has had the chance. Stop the restrictions already. You have to pay for parking which must be something unique to the Brooklyn location.
The hotel is in a safe neighborhood. We felt comfortable walking to our destinations. The on-site parking was a nice feature, even if there is a charge. Rooms facing Union Street are a bit noisy, but we used White Noise App to help. The beds/pillows were very nice and the room well cleaned when we checked-in. The bathroom mirror with the lighted frame was an attractive feature which gave off plenty of light. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The complimentary breakfast had a nice variety and there was plenty of seating. Strangely, the desk clerk told us he could not print off receipts for our stay at check out, because we booked on the Holiday Inn website. Never had that happened at a hotel before!
I was thrilled with the initial price though it went up considerably but I did need to add on two nights and it was short notice. The first room was very loud due to outside noises but the second room they had me near a person not fit for hotels. Screaming and cursing at the top of her lungs. Slamming doors repeatedly. Frightening me as it was 12am. Next night loud thumping musics began at 1am. Awful. Who does that in a hotel or motel? Will not go back. Saw someone bring a motorbike into his room. Disappointing and dirty.
Positive: For our needs the hotel is located closest to our final destination. The location is also close to restaurants, grocery and other stores. Negative: The grab & go breakfasts were mediocre at best. If you are not provided a hot breakfast meal like you paid for, then the hotel should rebate a portion of the cost of your daily room rate. The worst thing was the difficulty in getting a towel or washcloth.
The Staff was very Friendly and Helpful. The room was the smallest I have ever been to in all of the Holiday Inn Expresss I have been to. The bathroom did not have enough counter space and bad ventilation. Water pressure was good. The noise from the hallways and adjacent rooms could be heard clearly in room. The hallway had a smoking stench and tried to be covered up by some kind of spray, but did not work. There was only one elevator and it was very slow. Parking was over priced.
Great view but I was a little let down by the services . We were working early and were not allowed to take a to- go breakfast-bag because it was not yet 7 am. I thought the to go bags were for EXACTLY that purpose. As much as we payed for a room and I couldnt get an orange juice for the road. My whole crew I was working with were very unimpressed.
I booked this hotel for a business trip. I looked at the pictures online and it looked good. I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before and it was nice. However, this hotel was NOT!! When I entered the lobby, right away I knew it needed work. A fresh coat of paint would be great. I was given my room and when I got there, I went into the bathroom and there was something in the toilet. It had not been cleaned. I called down to the front desk and a young man came up. He took a picture and we went downstairs where they gave me another room. This room was a tiny bit better. The carpet needs vacuuming and again they need to do some work. It is dated. What gets me is that the room was $159 a night and they hold a $50 refundable deposit to be returned in 3-4 business days!! If I ever have to come back here, I will NOT stay at this hotel. I am surprised at Holiday Inn.
I chose the hotel solely upon proximity to family’s home in walking distance. We did not use lounge, food, or fitness service. Room standard two king beds were clean and comfortable. Carpet was old and dirty but bathroom was upgraded and very clean. I liked shower and shampoo dispenser. My main concern was elevator, very very slow (5 minutes until it came to us and it still went up when we wanted to go down) and it seemed packed with cleaning staff and was very awkward. I’ll also add that I had made a parking reservation and when I arrived the front desk attendant could not find it. I was told, as was the person checking in next to me “There was no parking left.” I had to raise my voice to get his attention that I was a returning customer and disabled and had to have parking. He had to get another English speaking attendant to help. In the end I got the only remaining spot and the poor girl checking in next to me ended up having to park ten blocks away. I felt stressed and very upset. That’s a deal breaker for me.
The hotel wasn’t what I expected. I rented a King Suite with a Hot tub. The room was extremely small, the hot tub was dirty each time I filled it up it was a weird black film in the tub I even cleaned the tub myself twice and it still happened so I didn’t use it. Which was my main reason for renting the room. The shower curtain rod and screws was laying on the floor behind the bathroom door. The bed was comfortable but there was only two flat pillows which was odd to me. Nothing about the room said “King Suite” and the best part about the stay was the check in because the man at the front desk was nice
When we walked in, it stunk like dead rat and wet towels. First night, we didnt have heat. The room was really small for 3 people. The girl at the front desk was nice enough to give me air freshener. There were no extra available rooms. The breakfast was great in the mornings. Especially, because we had long days ahead of us. The space could be bigger though. And the vending machine should of had water. No one wants to drink tap water in New York. The breakfast staff were so rude and unfriendly. One of the days we stayed, the front desk guy was actually doing the breakfast. Yet, there was a woman in the staff office. He didnt seem too happy about that. Overall, it was just a place to stay. Could be cheaper.
Conveniently located to shops, restaurants, and the subway, this hotel was great. The room was spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was clean and provided toiletries and soft towels. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. A Keurig machine is great for your morning coffee. There was also a mini frig and microwave. While there is on-site parking, we had no problem finding free parking on the street nearby. The breakfast room was quite spacious and offered a good variety of choices. The front desk staff was friendly and provided all information regarding the breakfast hours and internet.
I was only in New York for the weekend for a concert back in February and the staff was so amazing and went so beyond. I seemed to never have water on me and there was one lady at the front desk who probably gave me and my friend about 20 bottles during our weekend stay. The breakfast that was served was so above and beyond (even if we woke up a little late). Next time I’m in New York I will definitely be staying at Holiday Inn Express!! Photos were the view from our room on the top floor.
Let me start by explaining that I am a spire elite traveler, I have stayed in more HIE hotels than I can count, we even stayed at the HIE in Rome Italy for several days and I have never had a problem with any of the hotels. Some were better than others but overall they are always clean and comfortable. Check in was awesome the attendant was very friendly and knowledgeable.Breakfast was above average.Location is good with easy access to the Subway.Housekeeping was where we had multiple issues. The first day we returned to our room the deadbolt was extended leaving the door unsecured, for how long we don’t know but fortunately nothing was missing. The second day we returned to our room there weren’t any hand towels or washcloths left. We made a trip to the front desk to retrieve some. The third day we returned the room had not been serviced at all forcing another trip to the front desk for towels. The hotel overall is showing its age and I would expect a remodel soon.
Hotel is conveniently located. It is close to the center of Brooklyn, is a short walking distance to subway and can be reached from JFK airport by public transportation. Breakfast buffet was substituted by a grab and go bag, that did not match the usual HI Express breakfast fare. Toaster was half broken, furniture in the room shabby, several items required attention, but were neglected.
This hotel does not prioritize customers service. It seem profitable sales is their agenda. It’s written in their policy that they can STEAL money from you. I had a booking, before I officially check in, I ask to see the room. I was shown the room, it looked sub par and it smelled like urine. I told the front desk person, I will not be checking in.Days later, I see a charge on my credit card bill. The front desk person went ahead and charge me for a 1 night stay! When I called the hotel to tell her why she charge me, she said you never said anything. Which is untrue. I clearly and nicely said, I will not be checking in. How do I get charge for a service not rendered?I decided to have my credit card dispute this for me. Holiday Inn went and said do not offer customer refund. Wow. I’m very shocked at how they don’t give a damn about me. Stole my money and didn’t reach out to me to make it right.Noted.
I booked their non-smoking king bedroom with a whirlpool hot tub and en suite microwave and fridge, etc. The hot tub did not work. There was no microwave. The hotel management did send maintenance to fix the hot tub and the hot tub initially worked but then stopped working again. I was advised to use a public microwave 3 floors down to heat my food despite COVID-19 concerns. I was also told microwave in room was subject to availability but the 3rd party booking site I used corrected this hotel that per their own policy this is in fact a missing amenity.Instead of relaxing, I spent all my time uncomfortable having to deal with customer service especially because the hotel refused to cancel my reservation and refund me. I was excited to stay at this property and I hope they improve these details going forward for their sake and other guests. Its a matter of maturity among management to accept when they failed to deliver and correct the problem or provide a refund when they cannot. I, the customer, any customer, should not eat a lost expense incurred by the hotel.
This hotel is very well located between bus and subway lines. We were able to go anywhere we wanted. The breakfast was great, as is always expected at Holiday Inn. We spent 2 days and the all of the staff, from the front desk to the breakfast crew as well as the cleaning staff were great. We definitely will stay here again.
Yes very poor! I do not recommend unless you like smelly funky rooms. The curtains are so dirty the entire room and hall way smells so bad. The scent of marijuana will knock u over. The only good thing is the bathroom was clean that’s where the one star comes in. I booked for 11 nights and cancel the next day and went to another hotel which was way far better.
The service was extremely friendly, but the room wasnt very nice. The AC unit was very loud and disruptive at night. The bed sheets were very minimal. We paid extra money for the bigger bed but were still put on the ground level which was more like a semi basement level. Bathroom was not very well equipped however the shower did have a lot of pressure which was a nice surprise. All in all, you pay for the convenience of being walking distance from a very hip area in Brooklyn with great food and cool places to see.
I stayed for 4 nights in April. Hotel was clean, breakfast was included with a fairly decent variety for those who enjoy breakfast foods. Bed was a little too firm for my taste and pillows a bit flat - but that is personal taste. Very busy while I was there and I found my location on the 3rd floor to be quite active and noisy in the earlier parts of the morning and evening. Overall a great value for the money and I would stay there again, just ask for a higher floor.
I have stayed here before and the front desk is always helpful and provide all necessary information at check in. Rooms are always very clean and bed very comfortable to where is hard to wake up for check out. There is a great bbq restaurant right across the street and if you’re not into bbq there are plenty of varies of different meal options right around the corner. Social distancing sign are very visible and if you do not have a mask front desk was very helpful to providing one for me husband.
It was the worst Holiday inn express ever. Room was very small for 450.00 plus 50.00 parking fee. No wash cloth and they didnt give us the room we paid for not the room we talk to the lady about . I need to talk to someone . Me and my wife left at night time we couldnt stay no more. I never thought holiday inn express would ever be that bad. I hope the owner will call me because this hotel was the worst
Overall I enjoyed my stay. However, immediately after checking in a staff member who was a male of Indian descent was outside observing my window for a parking placard. I think this is unprofessional and doesn’t feel welcoming. Also, the room was too small and I felt closed in. Next time I would want the reservation specialist to provide choices explaining the different type of rooms.
We stayed for a Youth Summit. The Customer service was excellent. Tristan the check-in manager delivered the best service. We needed taxi service and food recommendations, he was so patience and helpful to us. I traveled with 10 students and he made our stay memorable. Great food and rooms. Elevator a little slow.
Our initial reservations were for two rooms each with two double beds but when we arrived we found that each room has a king size bed. We needed to make a change regarding one of the rooms because of the two people staying there and the hotel was very gracious and quickly found us the room that we needed came upstairs to swap the keys and help us relocate to another room. The manager, Ofca was so helpful and accommodating. When we needed to store things for a few hours past our check-in time they were very helpful and locking up our items. The staff at the breakfast bar were very attentive and kept the dining areal very clean.
We left a coat in room in the closet and called same day, was hung up on twice, and got really rude customer service and was told to call back in the morning. We did and was told theyd do another check never heard back so we called again and they told us there was nothing they can do.
This is a great hotel whether you are visiting Brooklyn or Manhattan. It is right next to a subway station which is very convenient. The hotel is very clean and the staff is excellent. It had a personal feel to it. The room has great heat/air controls and we were comfortable. I didnt hear a sound in the hallways at night. My only complaint is I did not get any shampoo (only conditioner) and the toiletries and towels were not replenished as I would have expected. (But if I had contacted the front desk I am sure they would have responded quickly). We were there for three nights and were very pleased!
The staff at the hotel is very nice. The hotel room was quite small but lots of storage space and the tv has a lot of good channels. The staff have a very strict no mask no entry policy however I felt very safe staying here, they are constantly cleaning and it’s nice and fresh. The hotel is quiet and the neighbor seems very relaxed I enjoyed my stay
Not a horrible stay but at times an interesting stay. One night the guys next door tried to open my door instead of theirs and the next night a couple down the hall had a fight for around 3 hours in the middle of the night. The breakfast could use a bit more variety but I was glad that it was there.
This is definitely not a nice part of town and we chose this hotel because it was the lowest priced one in the area. It does not look like much on the outside, the building is old, and the elevator is slow. The rooms were newly remodeled, comfortable, and modern. There was a USB port and electrical plug on each bedside lamp. There was a Keurig in our room with regular, decaf, and tea. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The breakfast was much nicer than we expected. There is even a machine that makes fresh hot pancakes! The staff was attentive and polite. We would stay here again if in the area.
Positive: convenient location, good price/value Negative: Not the most clean, no soap provided - not even to wash hands, no washcloths - had to call and request washcloths and more towels because they only gave us 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels for 2 people for 3 days
We stayed for 7 days.Pros; The workers there were very helpful and courteous. Our room was clean, comfortable and just right for two adults and two children (10 and 14 yrs.). The breakfast buffet was delightful. Unlike what others have said the elevator does work but it is very slow. More than not we would rather take the stairs anyway.Cons; No on site laundry service. Theres a small bag in the closest that fits only my jeans and a tee shirt. For the location and price I highly recommend this hotel and all the hard workers that will do their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The rooms are a bit compact. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. The main issue that I ran into had to do with the location on the top floor. Normally this would be a great thing, but the elevator was the problem. Not only was it slow, but it felt stressed every time I had to use it - especially on trips from the lobby to floor 9. It also took a while to respond when I needed it because it moves so slowly and has to accommodate quite a few people. The hotel staff is amazingly friendly. If there was something they were able to help me with they did it. I was with a larger wedding group and the front desk manager really made an effort to reach out to us and make sure our needs were taken care of. So I do appreciate that.
The fact of the rooms being so close together, me and my husband couldnt even stay the night. The $50 for parking is crazy. Felt like if we didnt pay for it, wour car wouldnt have been there when we decided to leave. The bathroom was clean, but small. The tub Kept clogging up while showering. This spot gave us homeless shelter vibes. The key card has to go also. We felt uncomfortable trying to sleep. They have a blsmall block lock that was loose. Smh..
The location is perfect for getting to and from the main attractions in Manhattan. The subway station is less than a 5 minute walk up the street. The restaurant is only for breakfast and its self service. Very basic breakfast fare but its good enough for the money paid. I found the a.c unit to be noisy and because of its position, I couldnt close the blackout curtains. So if you are like me and need absolute peace and quiet to sleep, be sure to have your eye pillow and ear plugs handy. The staff were friendly and attentive. Id stay here again whenever Im in NYC.
Recently stayed a week in one of the rooms attached to the dining area as it was the only room left. Location and price wise this was a great experience since its a two minute walk from the Union st. Station and very easy to get around from. I have no complaints about the room other than the noise from the ice machine and dining area, which was pretty considerable in the morning. The breakfast was a nice added touch and the staff was friendly. I would recommend this place, just try not to get either of the two rooms co-located with the dining area.
Front desk staff was very nice and accommodating. Overall is about on par for a Holiday Inn Express. Would have given a better score but I had to pay $350 a night to stay here because everywhere else in New York was sold out. If I had paid the standard price I would say I could understand the quality, but for that price I normally would have expected to stay in a room that wasnt almost completely below ground. Hallways and mezzanine area could have been cleaned better and doesnt give a good first impression when to first check in. Again the staff was very helpful and accommodating so they were great just the quality of the hotel was nowhere near what you would expect if you were paying over $300 a night to stay here.
I stayed here to get away from family and to have more time with my girlfriend. It was one of the best experiences I have had in a long time. I enjoyed the comfortable bed and having some alone time with her. She enjoyed the alone time, but she really loved the Jacuzzi. Overall, we would definitely come back to this hotel.
The hotel and rooms were in excellent shape and clean. The breakfast was above my expectations. Good assortment of foods which were fresh and tasty. But noise in the hall was easily heard in our room. Fortunately, not many rooms on each floor. The air conditioner worked great though it seemed to cut off in the middle of the night.Bring your own tissues and toilet paper, there is nothing soft about them. The staff were especially accommodating and nice. The rooms are well lit.
This place is kinda a dump. But you get what you pay for I suppose. The room is extremely small. The bed was too big for that room. No room to even walk the shower was dirty and didnt drain properly. And it smelled like a hospital I couldnt wait to morning to check out
When we first arrived to the hotel and got our key, the door was really hard to open. When we entered It smelled like wet carpet. This was because the carpet was wet. We only got one pillow each. The microwave did not work. I was going to extend my day but I am really glad I didn’t. The worse ever!
We had such a great experience at this hotel. Staff was accommodating and able to let us park in the lot before and after our check-in/check-out, which was super helpful. Every need was met with a smile and friendly face. We had a clean room, a delicious continental breakfast and convenient location into the city.
Great hotel! Its nothing super swanky but the staff was very nice and it was clean. The bedding was extra comfy and the breakfast bar was (crowded) but good! The location was great for us, there were great places to eat nearby and a great strip of bars close enough to walk to. We would absolutely stay here again!
The hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants shopping and parks. The Brooklyn Museum, Botanical Gardens, and Prospect Park are about 2 miles away. This is not a luxury property. It is a mid-range typical chain hotel. The prices, however, are what I would expect to pay at a much more luxurious hotel. The staff is very pleasant. There was only one problem with the room and that was the shower curtain. It had a hole and some mold on it. It wasnt so bad I couldnt live with it, but it should have been noticed and the shower curtain replaced. Staying in some of the more upscale hotels would have been cheaper than this Brooklyn hotel.
I have stayed at this Holiday Inn a number of times. This visit was a disappointment. There was no hair dryer in the room and it took three tries to get one delivered to the room. The room cleanliness was acceptable, but the hallways were very dirty and littered with debris. The breakfast was very inconsistent with juice and pasties one day, and none the next. The elevator was broken on two occasions. The staff was very kind and helpful when asked. The overall experience was below average.
My wife and I had a very good time here. Hotel is very comfortable and clean. The room are not to big but very comfortable and well equipped.Breakfast offer is great. You need to try the dinosaur bbq restaurant in front! (good culinary offer in the area)We are not giving five stars because of the elevator(too slow).
Very clean and well kept. Bathroom was stocked with complimentary shampoo, etc. and plumbing was in good order (e.g. hot water, good fixtures, etc.). Staff was very nice. Breakfast buffet was quite nice. The eating area was tight and one day when it was quite full, people brought their food back to their room. Rooms are not large but then we were only sleeping there. Single slow speed elevator required waits during busy time. We dont mind using stairs. But if your are patient the elevator will show up. Dont expect a lobby with cushy chairs to relax and read your email. This is a basic but well run hotel and we will stay here again.
We stayed here for 5 nights while in town for a wedding. The front desk staff were very congenial and helpful, however, the housekeeping staff left a lot to be desired. There is a basic set of tasks expected from the housekeeping crew - vacuum, make the bed (and change the sheets if needed), empty the trash, replace towels and toiletries. We came back to our room on day 2 (after one night in the hotel) and found they had done basically nothing to the room. They kind of pulled up the sheets in a semblance of a made bed, but the towels in the bathroom had not been changed out, the trash cans had not been emptied, and the room had not been vacuumed. I mentioned this to the front desk and they said they would take care of it.Day 3 we were in the room getting ready for the wedding when the maid came. I asked if she could come back in 30 minutes and was told NO. So, I got her to take the trash and change out the towels.Day 4 I noticed a stain on the comforter and left a nice note asking that it please be replaced. Nope. They did, however make the beds up so it was not noticeable. Not once in the entire time we were there did the floor get vacuumed. And I am not sure it had been vacuumed prior to our arrival, either. On the other hand, breakfasts were not too bad. They had a good selection of hot items, as well as cereals and fruit. Coffee was good.Bottom line: This could be a nice hotel, but until they address issues with housekeeping I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Day 1:Checked in for a 6-day stay. Was initially put in a room directly next to the lobby where noise was unbearable. Moved to another room that was still under construction. Door handle did not open properly, leading us to believe it was broken. Within an hour of arriving in the second room, somebody started jiggling our door handle as the front desk wrote the same room number on their documents. Hours later both our keycards deactivated and we we told it was because of our phones, despite being nowhere near our phones.Day 2:Hotel room shook from bass from a location blocks away. No soundproofing of any kind. Day 3:Construction in the floor above me went on until 10:30pm at the earliest. I called the front desk and was told they couldnt do anything. Illegal construction was happening and they didnt care. Two calls to corporate were required to stop it.Day 4:A family far exceeding any room capacity checked in to the room next to me. The following days were greeted with a mix of blaring televisions, screaming children and doors being slammed on and off. Day 5/6:Total blur. More of the same Overall notes:Door installed incorrectly. Dragged on the carpet and did not close automatically. Also had a large gap in the jam, allowing light to come in and the lock to barely catchDusty in numerous areasOld TV. Felt like a cheap motel.Bathroom was caulked poorly, leading to potential mold issues.
The room was nice, spacious, clean and well-maintained. The service was impeccable, the receptionist always offer us 2 water bottles every morning and evening (I have stayed in a lot of hotels in the US and this is the first hotel that does that!). The breakfast was really efficient despite the small available space.
The area in which this hotel resides is somewhat rough and the lobby and elevator are incredibly small, making it quite difficult to socially distance yourself from other people. Despite signs, other guests crammed themselves into the elevator with me and did very little to adhere to the rules during this difficult time. Not the hotels fault, however not mine either.
This hotel is very close to our sons apartment, so the location in Brooklyn is excellent. Plenty of great places around there to eat, shop, etc. Very friendly, helpful staff. The only negatives are 1 small elevator, so it takes awhile to come, and not my favorite breakfast choices. In future, will request a lower floor and use the steps. Probably most people find the breakfast adequate. I would prefer real oatmeal to instant, its not that hard to make! There was plenty of room in dining area, and plenty of food, just not my favorite choices. Would also like more fresh fruit, such as melons. We will definitely return.
I first prechecked in and checked my bags behind the desk which went fine. The staff at that time was friendly enough and the process was quick. I was told we could pick up our bags any time as there was always someone at the desk. My husband and I returned back to the hotel late that night and were met by extremely unhelpful and unprofessional staff. They didn’t know where our bags were located, neglected to take the tickets with our bag check numbers and went to a miscellaneous room and brought down several bags which were not ours. I informed them that they weren’t our bags and the 2 hotel staff members were arguing with each other because someone was putting checked bags in a room that was occupied. They finally found our bags in the back office. I am not convinced that my bags were not looked in based on how my items were distributed but certainly not something I can be sure of. The rooms were not overly clean. There were dirty areas on the bathroom walls. I honestly didn’t want to stay but we would have been hard pressed to find another hotel and move at that time of night. I have stayed at HIE before and although it is usually a no frills option, it is usually clean and staff is usually professional. I would never go back to this facility.

2021-12-22The staff at the desk are wonderful and very helpful. They make it very clear that housekeeping does not run daily and you must request someone to clean your room half-way through your stay, with a 24 hour notice. The lack of housekeeping was evident as the bathtub was moldy in the grout and the bed was pretty horrible to sleep on. Usually, Holiday Inn has comfortable beds. This hotel, not so much. Also, the room is SUPER SMALL. Two full size beds in the room and you can barely move around them. If you are sleeping four people, you may want to make sure you get along very well because it is tight quarters. We will stay there again but we really hope they make some changes to enhance guests stays. For a hotel, cleaning is not something that should be sacrificed.

2022-04-26My friend and I were attending our first Brooklyn Marathon. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They were able to check our luggage when we arrived early and also after check out so we could come back and change after the race. Coffee was hot and ready for our 4:30AM wake up time. The room and hotel were very clean, beds were comfortable.

2022-05-25I will first start with the good of this hotel. The front desk agent, Anna Bella is absolutely great. She really represents the hotel brand in a great way. She is so friendly, and very professional. Unfortunately it ends there. The cleaning staff is a nightmare. They are completely unprofessional and apparently think they are at a club versus work. I ended up in a room across from the utility room (laundry room). They start with the loud talking and laughing at about 9am and it goes all day! They are constantly in and out. Yelling, playing music on their phones, and just being completely blind to the fact that they work at a hotel where people mainly come to sleep! I was a flight attendant for 20 years, so Ive stayed at numerous hotels around the world. Never have I experienced a cleaning crew that was this unprofessional and just unaware of their surroundings. The room surprisingly was decent. So somehow they find the time to clean the rooms good enough. Also, this hotel has a rat infestation the the parking lot. There is an area where they put the trash where the trash overflows. Rats are running rampant in the parking lot. They definitely need to put traps and bait down. Thankfully I dont think they have them in the hotel itself. I get it, this is NYC. However, the rats should not be that prevalent in the parking lot.I took videos of the loud noise from the staff and rats in the parking lot. Trying to find how to share it with corporate. This hotel has potential, but its ruined by the lack of professionalism of the staff. Again Anna Bella is great, unfortunately the rest of the staff is nothing like her.

2022-03-08A lousy experience. Dont use this Holiday Inn Express. Most Holiday Inn Expresses are great. Not this one.House keeping is not good. Out of soap and conditioner for much of my stay here despite my asking twice for these things. This morning, I asked for my room to be serviced and when I got back this evening, the trashes were still full, bed not made or changed, some dirty linens remained in the bathroom, bath soap and hair conditioner not been replenished - two clean washcloths and a towel had been added to the bathroom.Completely unacceptable service.Numerous other issues that I wont get into. Never coming back to this hotel.

2022-07-08We stayed as a family of four in June 2022. Our whole stay the only elevator was non-operational. We were on the 6th floor so it was quite a workout everyday. Please check with the front desk if the elevator is working before booking if youre not into daily stair workouts. The property itself was conveniently located close to restaurants and transit. The rooms were small but clean. The daily hot breakfast was great. Alternating bacon and sausages together with the daily stairs gave me more leg muscles. After check-out, when we provided feedback re: broken elevator, the hotel manager facilitated a discount/refund.For the cost and location, if the elevator is working, we would stay here again.

2021-12-31Read this if youre staying with a pet! We booked through Priceline and pre-paid. I called about the pet policy ($116 with taxes for the whole stay) before booking. I wasnt told until check-in that because we had a pet, we would have to stay on the first floor. The first floor was actually the basement, downstairs from the lobby. Our window was halfway out the wall and we looked up to street level. This would have been a bit of a bummer but okay, except the hotel treats the first floor like a service level. There was always laundry everywhere, trash bags lined up in the hallway, our room door opened right to the laundry chute! The pet fee added a bit of insult to injury-- felt like we paid extra to stay in the dungeon. The room was also pretty cramped (on the small size with big furniture) and we couldnt easily open the door because the carpet in front of the door had pushed up.The hotel staff seemed to be doing their best. The elevator was broken for our entire stay (4 nights) but there seemed to be a lot of effort being put in to fix it. There was hot breakfast every day and the staff tried to serve the food as safely as possible. We were also able to find street parking and avoid the $40 per night fee, which seemed steep even for New York given the lot was uncovered and unmonitored.

2022-06-17I chose this hotel, because they accept pets and there weren’t many other options last minute. When booking the room online (3rd party website), it failed to mention the pet fee was an extra $100. I get the need to deep clean after a pet was living in the room, BUT THE ROOM WAS NASTY. That $100 did NOT go to cleaning. The beds felt nice, but the room felt extremely dingy. There were dirty walls and even black mold in the bathroom (all over my shower). My boyfriend confirmed rats in the parking lot like another reviewer mentioned.Lastly, it was extremely LOUD. The doors have gaps in the doorframe, so it’s not very sound proof. I heard people running in the halls all night and it was very disruptive.

2021-12-03The hotel is in an excellent location, close to the subway and lots of restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was small and a little noisy as it was right above the reception area. Still it was a wonderful place to recharge and rest.I had left my phone in the room and the hotel staff was very helpful in reunited me with my phone. In fact, in the end it arrived at my doorstep two days earlier than I had anticipated. Thank you!

2022-06-21Positive: The best thing about this hotel was its location. It¿s near a lot of great restaurants and stores Negative: The elevator broke and the front desk person only had rooms on the 7 th floor. My husband had knee surgery and we had to climb 7 flights of stairs with our luggages. After the first night of sleeping in the hotel with 2 bites in my arm and 1 on my back.
