We arrived after 9 pm on a Thursday night. On the first floor, a few rooms were having what seemed like parties. The hotel elevator reeked of pot. When we brought this to the attention of the desk clerk, she said that they were going to have the guests removed, but I dont know if that happened. Our room was quiet. The room was spacious, but the bathroom was very small and it wasnt really clean. We registered for 3 guests, but there were only 2 bath towels. Breakfast was good, with lots of choices.
Terrific service, great staff! Comfortable bed bathroom clean as a whistle. Easy to get in and out from Rte 9 and the bridge. Mostly quiet except for loud late night conversation in hall outside my 1st floor room waking me up for a bit🤨 Maybe the walls are a bit thin. Other guests at breakfast were friendly and relaxed, a good sign!
I had pre-registered so walking in, tired from a 7 hour drive, I was greeted with a smile and quickly handed my keys--barely had to pause at the counter. Bed was comfortable. Temperature adjustment easy. Room was clean. Wish the bathroom floor was heated.... and wish more water came out of the showerhead. Did not make use of any of the facilities but the exercise room looked to be more than adequate. This Inn is my go-to spot to stay when visiting family in the area (I enjoy it better than staying WITH family).
We stayed here during family weekend at Marist College. Location is great as it is the closest hotel to the school. The parking area is well lit and getting in and out of the location is easy (unlike some of the other hotels where you have to make UTurns depending on where you are coming from). The rooms were clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was pretty good, except for the pre-made egg omelettes.I would stay here again. Good value for the money.
Generally an unpleasant stay. Not told upon checking in that our room would not be cleaned for our entire stay. Staff members randomly had masks appropriately covering their faces. Staff were not all wearing masks (the staff member maintaining the breakfast area wore hers below her chin) but for “guest safety” housekeeping would not clean guest rooms. Definitely seemed that this hotel’s Covid policy was more for staff
This hotel is in the process of being renovated - thankfully! The bathroom is small with a corner sink and a shower that has little water pressure. Everything needs replacement. The only good thing I can report is that the breakfast is self-serve, hot and cold options, and plentiful. The location is good, just south of the heart of town, but wait for the update because this place needs it.
I was there for a wedding, and had an amazing stay. The room was clean, and the hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. However every time I left my room there was an issue getting back into the room with the key card. I I literally had a new card everyday that I was there. and then the day of the wedding the Friday, the elevator broke down so everyone had to use the stairs. INCLUDING the entire bridal party, and elderly guest. And it wasnt like we were informed that this would happen. Seidy is the best, she deserves a raise!!!!
We visited this hotel for a quick overnight trip to visit with friends. The location to shopping and restaurants is excellent. Our hotel room was ready when we arrived and we had a great nights sleep. Breakfast had lots of choices....the sweet rolls were my husbands favorite!
Hotel he’s going through renovation But never heard any noise my room did had some water damage on the ceiling and one wall looked Dirty and you can see spills and prints on the walls a good cleaning was needed for the walls but they had great furniture in the room and loved the bathroomThe shower and water pressure was great. Good furniture in the room and a large access to USB and electric on the furniture for easy access. The breakfast was good but by 8:30am they ran out of some items which was disappointing. Loved how that had bagels wrapped up for a quick take out
Front desk was quick and friendly during check in. Although our stay was only three days we did not get our room made by housekeeping. We decided not to inquire since it was a short stay versus a week or more. Breakfast had a variety of choices, a waffle maker would have been nice to have. Property appeared safe with locking entry doors. Close to Marist College.
The minimum requirements for a decent stay in a hotel are a clean comfortable bed and a place to get clean. We couldnt shower our second day here because there was ZERO hot water, making it a miserable experience for trying to get ready for a wedding. The room was clean enough but the bed was uncomfortable and the bed linens seemed extra small. So: Minimum requirements were NOT met.
We normally enjoy Holiday Inn Express locations as they are clean and affordable. This hotel was rather expensive and the room was disappointing as far as cleanliness. We found bugs munching on crumbs in the pullout sofa. Needless to say we were rather put off. The entire family piled into the king size bed to sleep. This stay made me wary of returning to another Holiday Inn Express.
My husband, daughter & I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Poughkeepsie while we attended a wedding in town. Rooms were quiet, clean & comfortable. Breakfast was good: simple and satisfying. Price was right, too. I recommend this property to folks looking for a quality, affordable place to stay in the Poughkeepsie area.
The staff was the best part of this hotel- the front desk team, breakfast crew and housekeeping were all very friendly and accommodating. The bathroom was dated and small. The sink was smaller than an airplane bathroom sink, and the shower was awful. There was virtually no shower pressure and took 10 mins to get hot water. I felt like I was staying at a low quality motel, not a Holiday Inn Express. I’m a platinum elite member and this stay made me question my loyalty to IGH and consider switching to Marriot.
I would definitely not recommend this hotel. Upon arrival, parking lot in disrepair and in need of resurfacing. Interior of hotel not particularly clean. Carpets need to be replaced as well. To top things off, we woke in the morning and there was no hot water in the building. We called front desk and were told a plumber was “coming out” to address the problem. No discount or anything else offered…just no hot water.Poor experience. Would never stay here again…nor should you.
The management decided to rent the hotel to a wedding party the night we stayed. The noise was non stop until early morning. Screaming, arguments and all kinds of noise all night long. We were near the fron desk on first floor. Managers did nothing to stop the noise. Twice we had drunk people banging on our door obviously at the wrong room.To top our stay off the sewer backed up all over the hotel so the morning was not pleasant. No offer of compensation or apology. This place is awful.
The room did not smell good. There was a ton of construction being done that I was unaware of. My remotes had no batteries. There was hair in/beside the bed. The bathroom was not in great condition to say the least. The front desk lady for check in was very nice though
Great staff, clean room, but most of all I left my favorite, and expensive, leather jacket and shirt in the closet and when I called and left a message the head of housekeeping called me on her personal phone to tell me they had both items. She then gave the phone to the hotel manager and we arranged to have it shipped back. It was obvious that this is something they do regularly because he walked me through the steps with ease. I dont need to say how rare it is to get left behind belongings back. That alone is a reason to stay at this hotel.
The staff were accommodating due to our late arrival. We almost exclusively use Holiday Inn Express in our travels. We used our points and cash for the room. The hotel had all kinds of repair work going on. The ceiling in our room had sustained some type damage and its stability was questionable. The breakfast was lacking several items. When questioned we were told they were awaiting delivery from a new food supplier. When we mentioned to the front desk staff of our concerns about the room, we were told that they would make note of it and pass that info to the workman in the building. We were not satisfied with our room or the amenities promised. We will be rethinking our use of IHG properties in our travel plans in the future.
It was certainly not clear to me that I needed to request housekeeping services. When I saw the housekeeping supervisor and staff worker I requested new sheets and two towels. At that time they told me I needed to call ahead of time for this. They indicated that the staff person had just finished all her rooms but she was instructed to do mine also. The encounter made be feel bad. I tracked down the staff worker the next day and gave her a big tip.Check out was super easy!
Our room was not too clean. It smelled like mildew. I know a lot of places got flooded recently. Smell like water has dried up in the carpet. Was ants in the room. Hair under the one pillow. Long piece of hair wrapped up in the clean towels. Sink was not cleaned. Mildew on the tub, needed to be chalk. Fridge was very rocky like it was going to fall over. Was so not worth the price.
The room was fine. I have no problem with the room, the room service, the breakfast. The simple fact that my credit card was charged twice and then my debit card was charged as well. In addition to placing a $150 hold on both my credit card and debit card is very inconsiderate. I now have to wait 5 days for those charges to be posted so I can dispute the charge or receive a refund. It’s inconvenient because the extra $167 charge that shouldn’t have happen caused my credit card to max out. It’s not fair to the customer that a mistake made by the front desk causes customers to have to wait a period of time To receive their money back.
The overnight front desk rep was extremely rude and unprofessional, lashing out at the wedding party, all because we were gathered in the lounge off of the lobby - after being told we could do so by the rep who was there before her shift started. She went as far as calling the cops on us, when we werent disruptive at all. We were there so we wouldnt make noise in the rooms, where there could actually be potential disruption through the walls to other guests. She cursed at us and even ended up leaving and what looked like quitting mid shift.
Had a party in the area and stayed overnight. Very pleasant and accommodating staff. Noticed sanitizers throughout the hotel on all floors. The only reason I did not give five stars is one of the sanitizers on my floor was empty (after check in and before check out) . Also noticed the elevator had not been vacuumed which had multiple leaves. Otherwise this was a great place to stay. All other areas including the room were clean. I would definitely recommend and I will stay there again
Positive: Beds are super comfy, breakfast is great! Negative: The website listed a pool which is half the reason I stayed. When I asked about the pool, I was told that it was ¿closed for the summer¿ which makes zero sense. Sheets also had blood stains on them. Disappointed
PRO: Really comfortable bed and pillows are excellent. Trailer parking area. CON: Carpet was soggy/moist and Im praying it was just cleaning solution from a recent wash. A used facecloth fell when opening the shower curtain. Free breakfast listed on amenities is in fact not free for everyone, and was a bit surreal. Walking in I see fruit, cereal, a couple of gallons of milk on what I hoped was at least a layer of ice and a man talking to someone out of view. Closer, I see its a worker with a hotplate and toaster. Maybe its a social distance thing but its not working. The man is asking her to try again with the toast because its burnt while the griddle is splashed with an egg that shes trying to coax into shape without much success. She puts the toast aside, maybe someone else will take it. Yeah Im the only other person around. Didnt expect a chef, but toast is a bar thats set pretty low. Nope on breakfast.
I stayed here as an essential frontline worker to avoid exposing my family to anything I could bring home. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rachel and Jamesley were always quick to ask if anything was needed and were genuinely concerned for the welfare of their guests. Maria made sure my room was cleaned and stocked when needed. The hotel was spotless and well maintained. The breakfast choices were limited because of Covid restrictions on self-service but the staff had other grab and go options. Coffee and tea were always available in the lobby. Even though the hotel faces route 9 I didn’t hear any traffic at night or other noises. I would recommend this hotel.
Spacious rooms and decent amenities makes this hotel the right choice while looking for a great nights rest or staying oi the local area. The staff has always been very helpful and very attentive. Note: Covid-19 has tested the best of us, including the hotel industry. Expect some obstacles and slight lack of service and amenities at this locations (and probably other locations too). Though, staying at this place many times in the past proved to be very pleasant and efficient.
Had to get new key cards 3 times until they switched my room. That should have been the sign. My fiance and I noticed the next day we were covered in bed bug bites on our torsos and a few on our thighs. I personally wont be staying at IHG hotels anymore because of this. The pool could at the very least be covered, or drained. Its pretty much a pond now, resident amphibians and all. Our veggie omelets had meat in them, so those got thrown out. So in conclusion stay at your local crack house it may be more inviting than this place.
The lady that checked us in was very personable and accommodating; she did all she could to make me feel comfortable interacting with her. The room was huge, I didnt expect it. A TV in the bathroom across from the jetted tub, I was in heaven. The hotel was quiet and the room was clean. The room could use some sprucing up, like a coat of paint and the tub reglazed, but other than that, it was excellent. We will be returning. Thank you again for your attentiveness.
Our stay here has been absolutely amazing. Clean rooms and nice amenities. The staff is exceptional. Special thanks to Imane who has gone above and beyond to make sure our stay is incredible, even tending the bar on an occasion. Also, special thanks to Peter, Sam and Sunshine all of whom are wonderful.
We stayed here for our Anniversary night and were very happy with the hotel, its staff and our accommodations. The hotel is beautiful, very clean throughout including room/bathroom. Bed and pillows were comfortable. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with our room location (next to a wedding party) and the front desk and manager were quick to move us and resolve the issue. We appreciated their understanding and positive actions. Free breakfast had hot/cold lots of options and the food quality was very good. We would definitely come back again and recommend this Holiday Inn to others.
I was greatly by friendly staff who was able to accommodate my needs. My room was impeccable and very clean which is comforting during a times like now. I was able to sleep and not have to listen to other guests as well which is definitely a plus. I highly recommend when in this area to stay here again.
This is just a general listing of my complaints/concerns during my five day stay:1) Property seriously needs to be paved in front of hotel. Parking lot pavement is cracked and full of pot holes.2) tiny elevator and only one in use.3) my room did not have adequate lighting.4) there was two water marks on the ceiling in my room as well as dark mold. 5) bed was a king-size bed but did not feel like it. The bed felt lopsided making it hard to get a good night sleep.6) other guests were doing their laundry after hours when I was asleep. Heard the banging of dryer doors. 7) the lack of carts. Had to hand carry my things out to my car and I was on the top floor.
Room was not up to standard normally held by Holiday Inn (crumbs in the sofa discovered by our 2 y.o son) and a blood stain on back of bathroom door. Tried to reach out to the frontdesk from the phone in the room but could not get through so we gave up and went to bed. The room was otherwise nice and spacious. In the morning the breakfast options were scarce (there was no more toasts)Also, we unfortunately had a flat tire as we were leaving the premises, it happened as we exited the parking lot (not on the road) and rushed to a nearby gas station to change the flat tire.
Room was not cleaned. Imagine entering a room and the first thing you see is overflowing garage and and unmade bed at about 8:00pm.Staff was apologetic and switched. Them the next morning went to gym, no cleaning supplies to use before and clean after. I had my own wipes and alerted staff when I was complete to ensure it was cleaned for the other guest. Staff was always polite and helpful but their cleaning protocol needs to be addressed and fixed. Not my first visit, first dissatisfied encounter.
Very clean hotel staff very nice and helpful. When we arrived the room wasnt ready had to wait about an hour so we got into room about 6 pm. Just a couple of small things the faucet in living area had no cold water and the shower door doesnt keep the water in. The floor gets soaked no handle to close shower door, a little silly design. We got the suit because brought our son. But suit doors make of glass so no privacy. But other than that hotel was good location cant get any better.
When arriving that day I noticed the new renovations inside and out. Checking in was a pleasure and the employees at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. I was happy to see the brand new room along with a new bathroom. The bed was was comfortable and the bathroom shower was great. My only complaint was the closet. It was too small and the safe was in the way when hanging long garments. I do miss the larger closet with the luggage stand outside. Maybe that can be fixed.I also suggest adding another larger garbage pail near the desk so the other smaller one in the bathroom and the one near the coffee machine do not fill up too quickly.
The hotel is decent, lobby was recently remodeled and rooms were upgraded. The bathroom is old but they added nice shower doors however the sink needs a makeover an the toilet is practically touching the shower door. Other than that it’s a very quiet hotel with very friendly staff. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. A good value for the price.
It is July 3 and we just checked in. Very disappointing. Staff is rude and unhelpful. Unable to supply list of local events. Website does not show condition of pool. Pool is permanently closed and in disrepair. If you plan on staying here (which I do NOT recommend), be advised pool is closed. New management this year is terrible and hotel is reflecting it. Go elsewhere.
Even though I only stayed in hotel for one night - I was able to check in early to get ready for the wedding I was attending at 4:00. The staff was kind and courteous, the room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was really good - I have never seen an automated pancake machine before - was a little leary, but the pancakes came out great and were light and fluffy. There was ample amounts of choices. Overall a great breakfast. The only negative I have to say is that the towels were a little rough, not the plush and fluffy towels. Otherwise everything was great.
I have been staying at this place on and off for the last year. Great place, spot and the staff is awesome. Love the GYM it is always clean. There is always idiots unfortunately walking in with muddy boots and the staff is always clean up patiently behind them. Breakfast girls are awesome and always have the place clean. Front desk people are always polite and conscientious of all your needs. Loved the old manager and and I am beginning to love and appreciate the new one. I would highly recommend this place. Recently renovated rooms and what I like the most are the large screen TV,s and USB ports to charge your phones.
CLOSED!One week before our booking date, reservation is cancelled. We called and called and called again, no answer or ability to leave a message. Called the other Holiday Inn nearby (2170 South Rd), they said this Holiday Inn (2750 South Rd) is closed and they are not affiliated to each other. Now, the only rooms available are almost double the price we had originally booked. Wont give Holiday Inn my business, what a scam.
The first evening of our stay the hotel experienced a break in a water pipe. There was no hot water until the following morning but the staff did everything possible to accommodate the guests. Good job staff!!!The hotel is perfectly located close to many attractions. It was easy getting to/from our stops. We had to be patient at breakfast because it was busy and many of the serving dishes were empty. It took some time but eventually they were replenished. Overall we enjoyed our stay even though there were a few minor glitches along the way.
Everything about this hotel is great. Have had breakfast in the past (not this stay) and it was fine. Recently remodeled, I prefer the older style bathroom w/more counter space. The towels were not the best this time for some reason - however, TV was great. Bed and pillows was great; we overslept and missed checkout time, and they were great about that too. Place is clean and safe and everything was great.. Great extra chair in room w/two beds - and desk space.. Checkin was fast and easy, and bill under the door - we never check out!
We really enjoyed our stay here. We were in town for an event and it was close to the venue, the front desk staff were truly spectacular, friendly, knowledgeable and kind. I would definitely recommend and stay here again! The hotel and rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable.. definitely exceeded my expectations!
The hotel staff and facilities were great. We stopped overnight and had dinner at the CIA. The pool was nice and the beds were very comfortable. Only complaint was that only one staff person was responsible for keeping the breakfast area stocked and was overwhelmed by the number of people eating breakfast at ~8:30am; as a result, the coffee, eggs, and bacon had run out and there was a wait before more was brought out.Checkout was painless and efficient. I will definitely plan on staying here again when I am in the area.
After having to relocate to the Hyde Park area sooner than we wanted to, my husband, kids and I checked in initially to stay a few days. Boy oh boy, we are so grateful for the hospitality of the staff at this hotel. While searching aimlessly to find a place to rent locally and being met with much turmoil, Rachel and her crew of happily employed people made our very extended stay the least of our worries. We are a large family so without hesitation she gave us two rooms across from each other. We were able to feast on a great breakfast every morning before heading out. The breakfast attendant made sure everything was well stocked and presentable. Housekeeping did a spectacular job keeping our rooms in order and well stocked. The beds and pillows were so comfortable. My kids loved the pool and my husband enjoyed his workout every morning. The complimentary WiFi was an added bonus, seeing that we were constantly on the Internet. I have never had a more pleasurable and comfortable stay anywhere else. Its convenient to everything! This was definitely worth every penny and I hope to get the chance to stay again. Kudos to you Rachel, for leading a great staff! We are forever indebted to you all! The Nugents
MY husband and I stayed here for a friend’s wedding near by. We got an incredible rate for the wedding block (thank you bride for booking this hotel early!). The check in process was seamless. We arrived a bit early for our reservation but were able to get a room anyway, which was great. We were very tired from our journey from the city. Our room was right by the elevator and I was worried it was going to be loud but I figured we were only here for one night so we would just deal. IT wasn’t though! This was one fo the first experiences (outside of Las Vegas) that a hotel properly insulated their walls and doors. I was thrilled. We were not woken up by people at all coming off the elevator. The rooms are spacious and the beds are quite comfortable. Again, another pleasant surprise. My husband and I both slept well. One great thing this hotel provides in each room is a softer and firmer pillow, both labeled, on the bed for guests. It’s really such a small touch but a thoughtful one. It makes guests feel cared for. The bathroom was clean and bright which was helpful for me for getting ready for the wedding. The toiletries are kind fo your standard hotel fare which never seem all that great to me but, like I said, standard average products in all hotels. I never really understood why nice brands never partnered with hotels to provide products to guests....The breakfast in the morning was included in the nightly rate which was so nice and convenient for us since we didn’t have a car to go out and get something. There are a number of baked good options, eggs, waffles, a pancake machine, yogurt, biscuits and sausage gravy (biter that there wasn’t a veggie options for this), oatmeal, Coffee, juice, tea. I loved that there were compostable plates and bowls available for use but was disappointed that the coffee cups were not and the forks, knives, and spoons were all plastic. I wish they had taken that extra step and made all their products from sustainable materials. Maybe they will take this step in the future. The staff we encountered were all very helpful and very friendly. This was a lovely stay if you are in the area.
Upon my arrival I was greeted with a warm welcome by a handsome gentleman at the front desk. He answered all of my questions and told me to enjoy my stay. I was very pleased with my room. That bed was the bomb!! It was very very comfortable. I liked having 2 soft and 2 firm pillows on the bed. The bathroom was nice too. The only thing is, I couldnt figure out how to make the tub stopper work so I could take a bath. So, I opted to just use the shower. I was still happy though. The continental breakfast was nice. There were a variety of items to choose from. Oh! I almost forgot! When I left for the day and returned later, my personal items were exactly the same way that I left them and the housekeeping still did an awesome job of cleaning the room and making the bed.The prices could be a little less expensive though. The weekend rate was kind of pricey.
We came to the area for a family wedding and your hotel was recommended by the bride and groom. We have stayed in Holiday Inn Express hotels before and have always been pleased. Many things impressed me about the hotel, the staff(even though we were only there 1 night)were exceptional. Every one always said hello-and had a pleasant smile-housekeeping, maintenance, front desk-it was very welcoming. The breakfast was excellent-many nice choices and very fresh and nicely displayed. The room was so clean as was the entire hotel. Even though there are many other hotels to choose from in the area-we chose to stay at Holiday Inn Express because of our familiarity with the facilities we have stayed. If we should ever head up to Poughkeepsie again-we will be certain to stay at this hotel.
We used this property as the hotel for the guests attending our daughters wedding. The front desk staff were gracious and welcoming. They managed handing out welcome bags to all the overnight guests and they let us use the breakfast area to gather in the evening as a group to socialize. We had a snow storm the day of the wedding and the staff assisted in clearing cars off and making sure the entrance was clear to avoid anyone slipping. The rooms were clean and bright with plenty of towels. The experience was excellent.
During my stay my bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed the quietness of the room. The only thing I didnt like was my bathroom was not very clean. Some hair on the floor and the toilet leaks. Also, there is only 3 towels in the room and Im one for not having room service during my stay. It would be nice to add a towel so I could have one fresh one for each day. Overall, the staff is very courteous and polite.
To celebrate our anniversary close to home, we decided to explore the Hudson River Valley. What should have been just over an hour trip was doubled due to a snow storm that was not well predicted (we only expected 3-4 inches and received about 10-12). We were welcomed by such a warm staff once we got to the hotel. I didnt realize I had been holding my breathe until we got there. The staff was so accommodating and really got to know us and how our travels had been. Throughout our stay, we had a great experience. The breakfast area was always sticked with hot and fresh items. We did not opt for room service, since our stay was short. We would definitely come back to this location. We had a lovely stay.
Every square of inch of the newly renovated hotel is beautiful! Gorgeous rooms, comfy beds, and a beautiful entrance. The chocolate chip cookies at the front desk don’t hurt either! The outdoor pool is well maintained and the front desk was so friendly. Plus the nice mini mart in it helps a lot!
This hotel deserves more than the 2 stars others have given. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and service received for the price. The included breakfast was great! Wish it were open until 10am on weekdays for us late risers! We booked the Holiday Inn because it of a wedding connection. Probably wouldnt have been my first choice... but definitely will be next time!!!Everything was clean and updated! Beds, sheets and pillows were comfortable. No musty smells in rooms or hallways and our visit was in the middle of winter!Thank you to Rachel for being so patient at check in!
I had an overall good experience here. When I reserved, I called to ask questions about the room options. The front desk person I spoke to was very helpful and gave me a better rate than what was offered online. Check in was simple, the suite was quiet and clean. The bed was very comfortable. There could have been more pillows and blankets, but Im sure I could have gotten more if I asked. The bathroom could have used a better design and more counter and storage space, but it was clean and more than adequate. Breakfast was plentiful with many options and what you would expect. Checkout was easy. All staff I encountered were pleasant and efficient. There was ample parking.
We planned to visit Poughkeepsie just for 3 days to relax from busy city life. I was so amazed to get such the valued price room for this resort. The check in service was quick and room was cozy. I wish I could visit there again in summer as we were not able to use the pool service due to cold weather. Finally I would say our experience was really good considering all the services we got there.
I recently had to stay in the Poughkeepsie area due to an unfortunate family circumstance. My toddler and I arrived early and we were greeted by Diana or Diane (Unfortunately I did not write her name down). She was so friendly and understanding of our situation. She was able to accommodate our early arrival and was even going to accommodate our late departure if need be. She even brought the trolly down to the other end of the hotel to assist me with unpacking (which was heaven sent, being 36 weeks pregnant). After getting settled in I went down to the lobby where they had fresh coffe, water and plastic utensils- everyone there were so friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and super clean, it was so relaxing and quiet. I did not experience any issues with their internet. I was able to get my work done without a hitch. If you forgot any toiletries, they have you covered and its no problem to get anything extra from them. I absolutely loved my stay and felt so comfortable there, my toddler even enjoyed himself and didnt want to leave. This will definitely be my go to place to stay if I ever need to stay in the area again.
Our stay was for one night, and it was fine. Staff at the hotel were nice, helpful. The hotel has an older feel. The lobby and elevator seemed dated. The rooms are updated but you can tell theyve been renovated - e.g. multiple layers of paint - as opposed to looking new. The room and bathroom were very clean. Bed was comfortable. I did call the front desk at about 10 pm and there was no answer. I tried twice.
We just stayed at this hotel this weekend for a visit to Marist College and we were pleasantly surprised. From the minute we checked in the staff was very friendly and upgraded us as well. The lobby is sunlit and modern. A perfect place to have a nice breakfast or watch tv at night with a cup of coffee. Coffee is always available and good. The rooms arent fancy but they are clean, new and we felt the details were worked out. Love the fact that there is a built in place to lay out your luggage. We had a nice little sitting area with a couch and although the bathroom sink area isnt large for putting things we had no issues. We hung up our toiletry bag and it worked well. We would definitely go to this place again. Very reasonably priced, friendly staff and rooms are a good size and clean. Breakfast too was very nice. Nothing fancy but many offerings . . . pancakes, eggs, bacon, breads, oatmeal, fruit, etc. Cant go wrong for the price! Well be back!
Property is really nice. Room was clean as was the entire hotel. Bed extremely comfortable but I did not sleep well due to a beeping type noise that kept waking me up. Not sure where it was coming from. Fitness center was very small but has some basics in it. Breakfast was pretty good and always a plus. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Slightly more than other hotels in the area Ive stayed at but decent value for the price.
The staff here was amazing - so friendly and attentive. My king size bed was clean and very comfortable and the TV was huge. In my room I found a refrigerator, Keurig, and microwave! Awesome! both the room and the bathroom were very clean! I was able to control the heat/air in my room, which was great because it was so hot out. The morning breakfast offerings were plentiful and delicious!! I will definitely stay here again.
Excellent property with ample, well-lit parking on-site. Easy access to major arteries to get where youre going in Poughkeepsie. The staff is super friendly and efficient. Rooms are clean and well-appointed. Breakfast is a hot breakfast with good choices. Coffee is available all day long. The Front Desk staff was extremely accommodating to our travel needs and made sure we knew anything pertinent about our stay. Theres nothing over the top luxurious about this hotel, but its safe, clean, and we got a great rate. Worth the stay.
Wedding party staying here from out of town. The staff was amazing from the time I first called. Travelling with my elderly dad presents challenges and they we sooooo helpful. The hotel is dated but all the recent renovations made it an excellent stay. Clean comfortable room and outdoor pool which was tested regularly. Thank you all!!!
This place is interesting but I would choose another place next time Im in the area. The lobby is nice, ample parking, safe and nice location. The room we were in was clearly a smoking room in the past and it still gave that icky bowling alley feeling. The tv looked large and modern but didnt even have a guide channel - only a channel selector. The worst part IMO was the heat/air unit. It didnt have an option for a simple constant fan. And every time the heat started up (every 30 min or so) it sounded like a monster truck and would rattle and rumble for 5 minutes, then drop back to dead silence. If youre a light sleeper or medium sleeper this is startling at best, sleep deprivation torture at worst. I turned a white noise app up LOUD on my phone and slept as far from the heater as I could.
I was looking for a Hotel close to the train station. It was 5 minutes away and a very easy drive. I arrived very late and was greeted promptly by the front desk. Our room was very clean and comfortable. There was a nice variety of food at breakfast and they kept area immaculate! I have already recommended this hotel to some of my friends who at times drive in 3 hours to take the Metro in to the city, it’s nice to know how convenient and very reasonably priced this is! Although my stay was short, I was beyond pleased with my experience here.Thank you!
Check in was a breeze, my request for lower floor near elevator was done, room was very clean, staff was very friendly and professional. Breakfast was very good, it was busy but they replaced items as needed at breakfast and it was the best one yet. The bed was exceptional, want it! I would without a doubt stay here again.
I recently stayed for a 2 nights. The rooms are very comfortable and the hotel is very clean. My only complaints are that the water pressure was really weak and the water took a long time to heat up. Also the walls are kind of thin. I could hear a lot of hallway noise. The breakfast was ok. There could’ve been more options but it was still ok. Overall though I had a great experience. The staff was nice and we didn’t have any major issues.
It was a wonderful, clean, and quiet hotel. Breakfast was clean, neat, and tasty. Staff were polite, very helpful and welcoming. Oir whole family was able to book with the hotel. 4th floor suite was amazing with the jacuzzi and television. It was large enough to accommodate the wedding party for hair and makeup.
Showed up in the middle of a snow storm. Hotel was very pleasant and was not what I expected. It was very nicely decorated and I was told they had just finished being revamped. The breakfast area was very warm and inviting. My room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. All staff were great and very helpful I will recommend to my friends and will revisit as well
I arrived on a Thursday night without a reservation during a flash snowstorm that prevented me from driving home from work safely. Front desk staff were very happy to accommodate me and allowed me to use my AAA discount for the room. I have stayed in this hotel before so I expected nothing less than a clean cozy room but I was pleasantly surprised to find warm fresh baked cookies near the checkout in addition to the usual hot coffee tea and Coco. Since the storm prevented me from stopping for dinner I was able to find some quick meal options in the commissary that I cooked in the microwave in the room. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom was spotlessly clean. I had to be at work the following day so a good night sleep was important to me as was the complementary full breakfast which included eggs bacon sausage home fries with sausage gravy Pancakes waffles, and also a variety of yogurts cereals and juices. Overnight we had received close to a foot of snow and even though I didn’t need it I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the staff had put out snow shovels for the guests to use as well as snow brushes for their cars. It was a wonderful experience that left me rested and ready for following day. Thank you for your hospitality.
I booked 3 rooms at this hotel for 6 of us while attending an event at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York. We could not have been more delighted with our accommodations. The rooms were spacious, quiet, nicely furnished & immaculate. The king size bed is pure luxury with freshly ironed linens & wonderful pillows. We had a great view overlooking trees w/ their autumn leaves and each room came equipped with a refrigerator & microwave. The bathrooms are newly renovated. The staff is caring & attentive. A full continental buffet breakfast is served in the morning with hot & cold foods. As a nutritionist, I was glad to see that a number of healthy foods were served at breakfast. Coffee & freshly baked chocolate chip cookies are provided throughout the day. WIFI & Cellphones work great throughout the hotel. We even had some questions regarding our hotel bill & management immediately resolved the matter in a professional manner. We are looking forward to staying here again next September and will continue to recommended this hotel to many of our friends....
The staff was amazing!!!!! John at front desk was absolutely on point with everything made the stay there very enjoyable was attentive, always in a good mood, was refreshing. The rest of the staff including housekeeping was very polite . The elevator smelled amazing .. The bathroom was clean and bright. Breakfast was really good and they had Nutella yummy .. Overall my whole stay was AMAZING for me and my family.
Very last min reservation but the staff were great and very courteous. We had to take a room with 2 beds as it was the last room available but it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful. Lots of healthy options and the staff gave me some delicious gluten free options too. Thanks, looking forward to my next stay!
Fair overall but it was during COVID-19Our paper products were not sufficient nor did we have enough towels. We should automatically get clean towels regardless of asking for them. I understand when we stay two days we don’t need new sheets but towels would have been nice.
We had a wonderful and pleasant stay while visiting our child at Vassar. The room was modern and clean. The bedding was comfortable with choices of soft and firm pillows. Huge flat screen TV entertained our youngest child while we relaxed. Check-in staff very professional. Breakfast was convenient and great. Would definitely stay here the next time we come for an overnight visit.
The room was new and very well maintained. I used points that I accumulated while still working as a Vice President of Marketing for four different companies. I retired 17 years ago at 66 years old after spending most of my career traveling the country and world on an expense account and spending more nights in Hotels that I can count. It must have been a lot because I am still using points I received at many stays at Holiday Inn properties here in the US, Canada and abroad.
This was a very comfortable hotel. Loved the bed, wifi was great, and the room layout was very convenient with a big armchair right next to the bed. I also LOVED the free breakfast -- there was an instant pancake machine that popped out great pancakes, cinnamon buns, fresh fruit including really good bananas, and anything else you might want. Also, the wifi was very strong and easy to log in.The minor drawback of the hotel was that the bathroom sink counter was very small, so there was little space to put our toiletries. Also, it was pretty pricey, but this was Vassar graduation weekend so I suppose thats to be expected.
I was a little worried about staying at this hotel after reading some older reviews; however, I was pleasantly surprised. We arrived later than we anticipated, I called and the front desk clerk said it would be no problem. Upon arrival the check in was fast, easy and pleasant. Everything was clean in the room, no bad smells, there was a microwave and a refrigerator and they both worked just fine. What I really want to mention here is that the front desk clerks were all very nice, helpful and friendly; but special kudos to the housekeeping staff; the common area was clean and comfortable, they did a nice job on the breakfast with lots of choices and it was well organized and clean. Our room was taken care of and they did an excellent job, we couldnt ask for anything better. We will definitely stay here again when we go to visit our son next spring.
Very comfortable bed, plus two different pillows one regular and one soft. The television was very large which was really nice. I was able to watch tv without my glasses. For the cost the room was a little smaller then I expected and the bathroom was a lot smaller then I expected. The shower worked well and they had Bath and Body Works shampoo, conditioner and lotion which was very nice. The free breakfast went until 11am and the food was good. They also offered a free newspaper. Overall we enjoyed the hotel and if back in the area would probably stay there again.
We arrived to a friendly staff and a clean entrance. Very efficient . Room was clean and bathroom toiletries were nice and a surprise- we thought it would be more basic . Pleasantly surprised . Bed was comfortable and lots of pillow choices . Very clean . Breakfast is simple continental style , coffee was good . The biggest piece is the attentive staff.
I only stayed antes nights but the staff were amazing here. The location of the hotel is quite good and its easy to get to with there being a lot of choices for food. The beds are a bit to be desired but there are certainly far.worse ones out there. The pillow choice is really good though and the cleaniness of the rooms was immaculate. Id definitely recommend this hotel.
Excellent property with ample, well-lit parking on-site. Easy access to major arteries to get where youre going in Poughkeepsie. The staff is super friendly and efficient. Rooms are clean and well-appointed. Breakfast is a hot breakfast with wonderful choices. Coffee is available all day long. The Front Desk staff was extremely accommodating to our travel needs and made sure we knew anything pertinent about our stay.
We enjoyed our stay and found the hotel room to be comfortable and well appointed. I was happy to see you still use regular sized pillows, as I find the small squarer pillows to be annoying. The location was very convenient. The air conditioning worked well, although it was a bit loud. I had trouble getting the refrigerator to turn on. It took a bit of time to get cool. Overall, I was very satisfied with our hotel experience.
Chose this hotel for its location and cost, and that it had King size beds. Didnt have big expectations. I was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were spacious and well appointed, with comfortable pillows and mattresses. The bathrooms were nice and clean. There was a fridge and microwave in the room, and there was a small market at the front desk to buy food if you needed it.The staff was helpful and friendly and we were welcomed with cookies at the desk when we arrived.Only complaints:1) the heater was very loud and we needed to keep it on all night to be comfortable2) the cleaning staff came by to clean the room at 9 a.m., waking my fiance who was still asleep. We hadnt expected to be disturbed before 11 a.m. for room cleaning, especially since check-out is at noon.3) the breakfast consisted of some sweet pastries, cereals, and prefab frozen cheese omelets w. sausages and biscuits and gravy. Certainly better than some hotels, but not healthy. Id rather save the money, since Im going to go out instead to one of the fine diners in the area anyway.4) the sound from the laundry (right on the first floor among the bedrooms) was very loud and intrusive.
I received a phone call about 30 minutes before I had arrived at the hotel. Just checking to make sure I was still coming so my room would be saved. I appreciated this very much as i was running much later then had planned for our trip. Checking in was a breeze, having a very tired hungry child with me was thankful for that. The gentleman at the check in (I’m completely blanking on his name) was great. When going over everything he explained that breakfast would start at 7am as the next day was Saturday not at 6am Like I thought. I told my daughter that we would just have to stop somewhere to get breakfast in the morning. He could see she was upset, she happens to love the breakfast that this hotel, we stayed here last year as well. Not wanting her to miss out he said he would be working in the morning and make sure it was started early so she would be at least able to get something. We were happily surprised when we came down at 6:15 and the full breakfast was set up. She was able to get her breakfast and start her day happy and full.
The commode was so close to the renovated shower door which curves out it was almost impossible to sit comfortably without banging your elbow on the door. There was no counter tops to put toiletries. This was a bit inconvenient as we had 3 people getting ready for a wedding. Also, the rooms were very small little space to walk past the end of the bed and the small free standing closet. However front desk staff at night was awesome! It served our purpose for closeness to the venue we were attending and it was clean.
We stayed at the Poughkeepsie location due my daughter attending CIA for college and they gave us a nice discount. The rooms are clean, even the halls are clean, the breakfast is better than almost any I’ve been to as for hotels, the beds are comfy and it was pretty well kept up other than the grounds and parking lot areas. Unfortunately the pool (outdoor) was closed at the time of our visit (early September) but nevertheless overall a very good experience.
My daughter and I were visiting colleges in the area. We chose Holiday in Express for the value and included breakfast. This location is spotless, check in was a breeze and there is ample parking. The beds were very comfortable and Wi-fi was fast and easy to connect to. Great experience, we would definitely stay here again.
I spent a couple days visiting Hyde Park sites and choose to stay here. My room was clean and updated with a comfortable bed and pillows. The breakfast was great, and they also have a patio just outside the dining area where I enjoyed the mornings. The room includes a safe to keep small high value items like tablets.
While visiting my daughter who attends Marist College, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Poughkeepsie. Upon checking into my room, I came to find out the hotel is under construction for a needed update. Because of the construction the hallways and elevator needed a good vacuuming. After entering my room, I could immediately smell cigarette smoke. Therefore, I went back to the front desk and was given another room. Mike at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. My new room was clean and comfortable. The hotel needs better signage telling you how to get to the lobby. The breakfast buffet was pretty good and had a variety of foods. They have coffee and tea averrable all day and had cookies in the evening. There is a little convenience store located next to the front desk.
This hotel is a great deal and and a very nice stay. I often have trouble sleeping but this hotel had comfortable beds, soft linens and awesome king size pillows that even the expensive hotels dont give you. I was very impressed with the quality of the room, mini fridge, microwave, etc. I only wish they had exhaust fans in the bathroom! Front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was an extended continential which was good featuring a wide variety of foods considering it is no additional charge. I would highly recommend this hotel and will visit again when I am back in town.
I never write reviews but this is a must. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. Upon checking in, a guest came down and requested a refund on her stay. The house keeping left shower curtains and sheets on their sofa. I was already nervous at that point. It just so happened we were 2 rooms down from this lady. The hotel is old and the parking lot is unappealing. As I walked down to my room, I saw a used tissue on the ground. Um, Hello COVID!! Anyway I went in my room. It was very small for a suite. As I was lysoling the room as I always did even prior to Covid, I saw dirty stains on the sheet. I knew at that point I was not staying here. I went back downstairs and requested a refund. Imane the manager stated it would take 48 hours to receive my money back. I checked in on Oct 17th,2020 and didnt receive my money back until November 8th. I was livid but once again never again. Our night was ruined, reservations had to be canceled bc the area was booked and we had to relocate to Danbury CT which was beautiful!!
We stayed at this hotel because we had lost electricity. The hotel was clean and staff were always friendly. First night the toilet kept running and when it was brought to the attention at the front desk it was taken care of immediately. The free breakfast always had a nice assortment of choices and coffee, tea and fruit infused water was available all day long. We would definitely stay here again if needed.
We originally stayed here because of the closeness to our destination. The outside of the hotel is just ok but everything else was very good for us. The front desk staff was great. Check-in was quick and easy. I highly recommend this place and if Im in the area I will definitely stay here again
We were there for two nights for my cousins wedding. The rooms were very nice with comfortable bedding and pillows. The hot breakfast had a nice variety and the coffee was good! Brought our kids to the outdoor pool which was quite large, enough for many families. Only complaint was the hotel only has 1 elevator which meant waiting a lot as we were on the 4th floor. We would stay here again.
Toilet sprayed our legs everytime we flushed it. Shower curtain smelled and needed to be washed. Bathroom dirty. Towels had stains. Quickly checked in when we arrived for a wedding, changed clothes and headed back out to wedding. Got back to hotel and got into bed around 12:00am. Air conditioner made awful sounds ALL NIGHT LONG. Barely slept. Front desk manager was very understanding when we explained the problems at check out, cut our bill in half. I was too tired to argue, but think we should have gotten the room for free. Awful stay, avoid this hotel!
This hotel is conveniently located in Poughkeepsie, with easy highway access. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable, especially the beds. My only complaints were regarding noise from the hallway and other rooms (I needed earplugs to sleep) and the towels, which were rough and thin. I do recommend the hotel, but if you are a light sleeper, be sure to bring earplugs.
I booked as The college we visited recommended. My last experience with IHG was years ago and not very good. I’ve since worked at another brand and have always stayed at their family of properties. So when this was recommended I didn’t have high expectations. BAM! What a surprise!!so clean and bright when I walked in and we were met with the kindest Front Desk agent! He had all the items we forgot and knew where we should go out to eat. Made our trip to much nicer! Then... he tells us when breakfast was. BREAKFAST? Is that INCLUDED?! Sure! Next morning I anticipated a few yogurts, banana, apples and a long line for the waffle maker. Nope! Delish pastries, plenty of juices, the funnest (is that a word?) pancake maker; and a huge selection of delicious items. We appreciated it.
My husband and I booked a room as part of a package with The Grandview for New Years Eve. We were more than impressed. The Holiday Inn provided a shuttle to and from The Grandview, a class act. Everything about booking this room to check in and out and everything in between was painless!! Our room was clean, bed was comfortable, plenty of pillows and blankets. The breakfast was amazing, they had everything you could think of. The dining room reminded me of being in a country inn, it was fabulous!!! We would definitely go back again.
Nice place to go and relax (we were there for a family wedding). Breakfast available NEEDS to be extended by at least an hour. Start time way to early and closed way to early. We felt like we had to rush just due to the breakfast available hours. Also, going around the bends inside the building..be careful. Almost got hit by a luggage holder that was being pushed. As a safety measure a nice mirror in the top corner to see around the corner would be nice. But putting that all aside it was a nice place, clean and was always greeted with a hello. We would go there again.
We always stay at Holiday Inns and this is one of the best yet. It was clean and quiet and the staff friendly. There were warm cookies at the counter that the kids loved. Best fitness center weve seen in a hotel. The breakfast was stocked with food continuously the entire time by the staff and the coffee always fresh. Loved the Keurig coffee maker in the room and the fact that they provide makeup remover towelettes in the bathroom!
This was a very nice property. There was a very nice outdoor patio area as well as swimming pool. The room was comfortable and clean. We did have a problem with the bathroom faucet. There was no cold water, just lukewarm. We did not realize that until late, but did notify the desk of the problem at checkout. There was minimal counterspace in the bathroom - just barely enough room to hold a small cosmetic bag. It would be nice to have a small shelf. Other than that, we would stay there again if we are in the area.
We were in Poughkeepsie for business and decided to stay at the Holiday Inn Express, as our usual hotel was booked for a wedding. We werent disappointed. HIE provided a nice breakfast spread each day and even had pancakes from 8-midnight (that was for August only). Our room was always cleaned nicely, but I was surprised that the cleaning staff missed the tip I left the first day. That has never happened before! My only complaint was the pillows were quite lumpy. I forgot to travel with my own this time and wasnt too keen on the ones provided. However, I was still able to get a restful nights sleep the entire time we were there. We will be sure to stay again the next time we are visiting. Ill just bring my own pillow!
I love staying here. I’m a travel nurse and this is the choice hotel to go if you are in Poughkeepsie NY. I would like to thank Michelle and Diana for their superb service, always receiving me with a smile and going above and beyond to make my stay better. They are the best. Breakfast is awesome, the rooms are always clean and the pillows are so comfortable! Many hotels have much to learn from this one and if I owned a hotel I would have the same staff this hotel has.
We stayed at this hotel because of the proximity to Vasser Bros. Medical Center. The drive was easy. Our stay was very relaxing. After going thru surgery coming back to the hotel the next day made it so easy(we live 2 hours away). The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very nice and extremely helpful. We would like to visit Poughkeepsie again, but as a short vacation. We will definitely stay here.Thank you for your kindness.
This is one of my favorite hotels. The staff is wonderful: friendly, professional, and always is ready to provide great customer service. The location suits my business needs very well, and the facility looks fantastic. The breakfast gets my day off to a productive start. Great value.
This is an excellent hotel to stay. The staff is top-notch. You do not want for anything. The room is very comfortable and extremely clean. They will get you anything you need. The food is delicious. Although we didnt get to use the pool or exercise room, time, they were wonderful! The pool is very large and great for couples or families! There is always hot coffee, hot tea, and lemon infused ice water. We will stay there on our next visit.
Stayed overnight for my uncles wedding. Room was nice, simple and clean. Breakfast was alright but it could be better. I do enjoy their pancake machine, I thought it was really cool. I also really like that they have coffee, tea and hot chocolate outside in the lobby. Keeps be cozy and warm.
The location of this hotel to local tourist attractions was good. The hotel itself left a lot to be desired. The wifi was not working, the pool and spa were closed, the room was not clean, especially the bathroom, the heating/cooling could not be adjusted to make the room comfortable. There was a lot of room noise from both the hallway and adjoining rooms. If I had a choice I would never stay here again. We were disappointed with our stay after a long day of playing tourist.
The beds were still firm. There wasnt an unpleasant odor in the rooms. The heating worked well. The gym was well equipped, although if there were more guests the 1 treadmill and 1 elliptical would not have been enough. I took advantage of the gluten free options that were available upon request. The person attending the breakfast recognized me from one day to the next and remembered my needs. The TV channels and music options were enough fulfill our needs, whether in the room or in the gym.
This hotel is a real oasis for the weary traveller. Super easy to spot the place from rte 9. Lovely property, but better yet, courteous staff and smooth check in. Room was clean and very comfortable. Lots of usb ports and outlets. Sorry I wasnt there long enough to enjoy the pool. Will definitely stay here again when visiting the Hudson valley area.
It’s an older building. We were there for one night to attend a funeral in the area. We didn’t have enough toilet paper provided and ended up using Kleenex from room. Only staying one night I thought that was not good. It’s on a busy highway so traffic was loud. Front staff was awesome very friendly as was the housekeeping staff that was very friendly and helpful when we were going towards the wrong exit and they directed us to the lobby
I had a very nice stay. The hotel is very clean. My room was spacious and very nice. The breakfast is very good. They have a lot to offer. I wish I could open my window a bit more. I wish the curtains didnt cover the window entirely. Maybe they should have blinds so fresh air can come in.The cooling unit was extremely loud.Everyone was over the top nice except for one front desk older white woman. She had such an negative attitude. If it wasnt for her, I would have given the survey a score of a 10.
Stayed at the Poughkeepsie Holiday Inn recently during college move in weekend. Wanted to be close to the college and shopping/dining. This was a perfect location to all three. The hotel is remodeled and beautiful, the coffee bar was great along with the fresh cookies, and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. My youngest even got to have some hot cocoa after a swim in the pool to warm her up. Breakfast in the morning was good, nice selection, but we went during a busy time 8am and had to wait for more eggs to come out and then more sausage. I will most definitely be staying here again!
Everything was nice with this visit the only thing I did not use was the breakfast. I am not complaining about the breakfast just wish there were eggs and bacon. Due to Covid I understand the reasoning for not having hot food and I wouldn’t rate my stay solely on that. Thank you holiday inn!
Stayed for 3 nights in January 2016. Everything from the lobby to the room was clean and in good condition.I appreciate the room door closing quietly; I dont like being woken when a neighbors door slams shut...Breakfast was good, though it would have been nice to have a little more variety. Fruit was fresh, eggs were pretty warm. The room itself was very clean, and there were outlets on one bedside table. Its funny how some hotels dont have that. The bathroom was clean but could use a little bit of attention, like new caulking. It was also weird that the mirrors in my bathroom were in the corner, so if you stood at the sink you faced the corner of two mirrors... probably just an oddity in my room.Internet was spotty. Sometimes very fast, sometimes very slow.
We flew into Westchester County Airport on 10/10. I called the Poughkeepsie Holiday Inn Express and spoke with James. I let him know that we would be checking in very late since my mother was in hospice in Connecticut. He suggested that we get a hotel there and let him know about our arrangements the next day. Each day, I was able to extend my stay at the Holiday Inn in Branford and hold off my stay in Poughkeepsie. My mom passed on 10/14. At that point, we moved to the Holiday Inn in Poughkeepie. When I called to let them know we were arriving the person I spoke with was not sure if they could get us in for our final night, which was Friday, 10/18. When we arrived, James was right there to check us in and by that time, there had been a cancellation and they added the final night. I thanked him and all the staff for their help during this very emotional time. Knowing that we didnt have to stress over where we were sleeping as we were making arrangements for my mothers funeral was so special and above and beyond anything I have ever seen happen in a hotel chain. I cant thank James and Michelle and all the staff at the Poughkeepsie Holiday Inn Express enough for their caring and understanding as my family went through this sad time .
Staff were courteous but housekeeping and maintenance needs to be much improved. The tub was filling during a shower. Weekend maintenance came and found huge amounts of hair clogging the drain. Seems the drain had never been cleaned ever!! It was disgusting. The toilet flushed extremely loudly and for a long time after every flush. The bathroom door would only close if slammed shut with great force. Spider web from carpet to a/c unit showed housekeeping has not vacuumed that side of the room. Thorough housekeeping and regular maintenance badly needed in rooms.
Stay was great for the price. Staff was attentive. Parking was available as well. Hotel is very cleanWe liked that there was a pool. However, there was no one tending the pool. Not sure if it wouldve been helpful anyway since the debris from trees and pollen was falling faster than you could clear it.The hotel is also currently under renovations. We thought construction was going on during the weekdays but we heard light tapping from the room adjacent to ours most Sunday evening and early Monday morning.
I was in Poughkeepsie, NY on a leisure trip visiting family. I travel to the Hudson Valley Region approximately 6 times per year. The housekeeping staff ensured my room was immaculate on arrival and on a daily basis. The receptionist, Diana was consistently very personable and extremely helpful. The general manager, Rachel personally delivered a package to my room and was there upon my arrival. The room was very comfortable in every way. The overall standard and exceptional service from the staff was second to none. I will absolutely be staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Poughkeepsie again.
We loved our stay, immediately were impressed by the sheer size of the space and the jetted tub.. loved that there are TVs in each room. We had one problem with a remote and the staff quickly assisted us. The two staff members I met were friendly. My only issue was connecting to WiFi in the bedroom. It strangely worked in every room but there. Please note I only brought this to staff’s attention when we were checking out. I would go back again for another trip to see family.
The hotel is very clean, the staff is very friendly. The lady tending the breakfast bar was particularly friendly. I also enjoyed the fact that the hotel asks people to not leave lights and TVs running while away, to save energy. Having a family who like to leave every item running in a given room when they walk out to not return for an hour, I found that a refreshing change. If you are looking to relax and watch TV before bedtime, I recommend bringing a book because the satellite TV reception is complete mess. : /Other than that, it is a great place to stay.
With the exception of the bed comfort (more me than my wife), this was an excellent value for our visit to the Hudson Valley. This is an older facility so its not brand new and shiny, but its well maintained. Breakfast is amazing, probably the best weve ever experienced. The location was perfect for our travel plans within the region.
Booked the hotel for our wedding recently. The sales manager was not easy to work with, we went for days without her answering our emails. The link and the group code never worked for the rooms we blocked and we ended up getting this response “I looked into it and there’s nothing else I can do.” Elevated customer service would have been “let me do a little more searching to see what we can do to accommodate and figure out why the link isn’t working.” And then it would’ve been resolved. But instead, my family and friends had so many complaints about booking the room and the group rate. I regret booking holiday inn for the wedding I should have booked the Marriott instead. Would have been cheaper too, they actually gave a better rate. I would never recommend to anyone this hotel. Yes, the renovations are beautiful and free WiFi/breakfast is excellent, but the service was terrible. The bed is probably the highlight of our stay.
Room seemed to have been recently refurbished and included a mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, and enormous TV. Included breakfast was surprisingly good. Exercise room had a lot of equipment. The pool was okay. There was even a washer and dryer for laundry available. Pretty great experience for my family overall.
Typical HIX. Sleep, appearance, very good. Arriving at 3:30 in the afternoon and the shuttle not working was a bummer when the website said they had a shuttle, no restrictions. All windows in the hotel were bolted shut, which is bad when you like and are used to having some fresh air. Even a couple of inches would be good. We were on the first floor so there was no risk of jumping. Also the breakfast bar started toasting toast long before the breakfast was to commence and it waffled into our room, down the corridor from it. Very annoying! They did have FREE do-it-yourself laundry which was very good. We picked this stop to avoid NYC hotel prices and an very early train departure, so in that way it was great. No shuttle and no car made choices for dinner very limited in that location. Coyote Grill was about 20 minute walk down Route 9 and can recommend it. Only choice we had. Breakfast selection is not keeping up with its competitors.
I was there for a Scrabble Tournament which was held a couple of miles down the road. For an Express hotel, the experience was not rushed at all and not low-budget. The rate was very good, especially with breakfast included. The only area that was not well attended to was the fitness center. There were no earbuds (minor issue) and no cups for the water (major issue). The free coffee was delicious.
The hotel went through a renovation. The new decor is sleek. The hotel staff was extremely friendly. The hotel offers a bereavement rate which was nice. Complimentary WiFi. A pool, workout facility and business center. Their televisions were the best I seen in a hotel with a good selection of on demand programming. My only complaint, the beds were not to my liking, too firm. Overall, the hotel was a pleasant stay.
This is a very comfortable setting, close to everything but still a quiet oasis if you want. The rooms are comfortable, well priced, always clean and with all amenities. A breakfast with a nice variety of foods is available and shuttle services are available if needed. I will stay here again just to relax and enjoy the pool.
Good experience overall. My check in with Diane was smooth and the gentleman in the night shift was very accommodating and nice. My room was comfortable, clean, and spacious. Breakfast left a lot to be desired but there is a ihop a few minutes away. I would definitely come back and recommend.
We were taken care of promptly and received the room we reserved for a handicapped person. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was very nice. The temperature controls worked very well and we were very comfortable.Continental Breakfast in the morning had a greatselection of both hot and cold foods. We highly recommend this place!
One person in our party was disabled, came with a 24 hour attendant, and used a wheelchair. We called ahead and explained our needs. The person we spoke with was very understanding and offered a handicapped equipped room with an adjoining room for the attendant. On arrival, everyone was most accommodating. The rooms were nice, clean, and well equipped. All of our rooms were on the ground floor immediately adjacent to a side entrance where we parked. We could not have asked for anything more convenient! Thank you so much for a very pleasant, accommodating, and helpful experience.
Everything was great about this Holiday Inn. Welcome cookies, got a room right where we wanted it. TV is newer and larger. Bathroom including amenities is fine - like all Holiday Inns we stay at.. Internet is free and good. The included breakfast was great.. staff was there to help, you could talk or watch TV. I only wish it was open until 11 instead of 10.. Mattress better than some. Pillows not the greatest - but Im the most picky pillow person anywhere!
Very nice hotel in a great location for business and sightseeing. All staff members were courteous and friendly. My room was always made up nicely when I returned at the end of the day. The woman in the breakfast area was always making sure everything was available. The front desk staff was wonderful with great suggestions for dinner and seeing the sights in the area. Oliver was very knowledgeable regarding the history of this beautiful area of NY state.
My son just graduated from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) on July 25th and so we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Poughkeepsie, NY. Its about a 9 mile straight drive to CIA, which is convenient if visiting the campus of CIA or the other local colleges. The suite we reserved allowed us to also share the accommodations with our daughter and her husband. It had a private bedroom with a pull-out couch. The large, step-up Jacuzzi tub was a pleasant surprise. I just wished we were staying longer than one night to enjoy the amenities. The bathroom was separate from the shower and Jacuzzi, which was perfect for 4 adults trying to get ready for an early morning graduation. The hotel was clean and quiet, despite over 150 teens attending a chorus performance. Maybe the kids were all just well behaved since there were no sounds from the kids. The only disadvantage was breakfast with so many teens in the breakfast area. However, they were polite enough to allow my family to grab something quick since we were running to the graduation. Overall, I definitely would recommend this property!
I have stayed here several times over the last year for business and I have to say how impressed I am with the recent remodel! The entire hotel has just transformed into a gorgeous showplace! I LOVE this Holiday Inn Express, it is literally my favorite HIE in the entire state, and the staff are always friendly and helpful! Its conveniently located, the rooms are always immaculate and they have a great breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel if youre in the area!!

2022-05-03We came in for a college visit. There were many negative reviews I read.. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the welcoming stay. The staff was very cheerful.. The breakfast was awesome. The room was comfortable.. The carpet did look a little outdated, but overall a great experience.. So good that I already booked for Sept during college move-in while I was staying there..

2022-03-04They were accommodating and friendly staff. Our rooms were ready ahead of time, which was great because we were unexpectedly staying the night due to weather that kept us from going home on time. The elevator is oddly placed, which feels very inconvenient and a little creepy. Lol

2022-05-22I: stayed with family for a reunion and the place was very clean and organized. My favorite part or thing about them is the breakfast. The food is fresh, tastes good, and great variety. Sometimes Ill book a room and not even stay, I show up and eat the food.

2022-06-21Positive: Good location Negative: The smoking section is too close to doors. I can smell smoke when I enter the building. The breakfast while good should have been more sanitary with individually wrapped goods

2022-05-05Our room was very noisy. The HVAC unit was overly noisy when it turned on. I would make sure to not stay in a unit in close proximity of the elevator when people were waiting for the elevator it was like they was in the room with you. Why they would design a hotel with the elevator in the same hallway as the rooms is beyond me. When I mentioned at checkout to the front desk about the elevator noise they replied that they would make a note in our file not to put us near the elevator. I HAD ALREADY MADE THAT NOTE TO MYSELF.

2022-03-30Bed bugs, and 5 days later still trying to fight for a refund. They need to do a proper investigation, even though they have a picture of the bed bug that bit my husband and I. Checked in at 12 am after a 5 hours drive to check out at 3am! We were there two hours!
