Holiday Inn Express Rochester - Greece, an IHG Hotel in other cities:
After a long day, we just wanted to get to our room, watch tv and relax. Of course, it wasnt working properly. Went over it trying to figure it out, ended up calling the front desk. The female at the desk said to use the manual input button to change the input. Ok thanks, no problem. Did that - went through every input - no change. Called her back, said she would be right up. We waited, waited some more, waited even more. I started tinkering around with it myself. Realized someone had plugged the HDMI cable into a USB port. Fixed this, got the tv to work. Female from the front desk never came and never followed up.Thermostat in the room was completely dead. It did nothing to control the A/C. Figured it needed batteries so tried to look where they might go - the thing was not even attached to the wall properly and it ended up in my hands. The A/C was able to be controlled on the unit itself after looking into it further.Toilet was not properly attached to the bathroom floor so it moved everytime you needed to use it. Also, every time you flushed, the plumbing made a noise similar to a ship horn that you hear when they are leaving/entering port. Bizarre.I gave them two stars because the beds were clean.
Staff was very personable upon arrival and helpful. Room was clean and quiet despite facing the highway. Our bed was very comfortable and we slept well. My only complaint was the pillows, but that ha always been my issue. I’ve yet to find a comfortable pillow anywhere. Very convenient and we’d stay there again.
We booked a room for 8 nights to be near Rochester family. We were given a very small room and notified of modified service due to the pandemic. We received 2 bath towels. The only way to get more was to find the maid in the morning. There was no offer of room cleaning or replenishing of needed items. The breakfast room had only yogurt, juice and a few items. Other IHG hotels during the pandemic were prepared with breakfast sandwiches to go, cinnamon rolls, and other items. Is this hotel trying to save money by offering NO SERVICE? Terrible experience. We won’t be back.
This is clearly an older hotel, really nothing to write home about, underwhelming lobby. Requested a quiet room and was put on 1st floor with parking lot and highway right out front, right next to housekeeping/ice/laundry/gym. Was told the next morning that 1st floor is the quietest. I used to work in hotels and everyone knows that the opposite is true. No coffee in the lobby.
I stayed at the hotel on business. The location is great, lots of restaurants, etc in walking distance. The hotel itself was just okay. I had a room on the first floor and it honestly had seen better days. The air conditioner in the room worked okay, but it was fairly noisy and obviously needed service. The fixtures in the room were worn and the counter top desk area and nightstand had visible stains. In the bathroom, the door did not close properly and the shower curtain was frayed. The mattress on the bed was firm and cheap. That said, I was able to get a decent nights sleep and the price I paid for the room was reasonable.
Overall experience was very nice. Because of COVID, breakfast was scaled back, but staff tried to accommodate the best they could. Coffee always available in the lobby. ALL of the staff were polite, respectful and helpful. The room was comfortable and quiet. The room layout and storage were efficient with plenty of good lighting. TV worked well. Carpeting seemed to need a cleaning. Parking was easy.We liked the location - walking distance to Olive Garden, Subway, and Starbucks. Thank you.
The check in process was very quick. The room and bed were very comfortable. But the sound proofing between rooms needs further improvement. We could hear the occupant in the adjoining room cough very loudly at 4AM which woke us up and we couldn’t sleep after that. Breakfast service in the morning was good considering the COVID related restrictions in place at the hotel. Overall, a fairly decent overnight stay in this hotel.
Beware of deceit...they pretend to care a lot, but once you have an extended stay happening in this place, they do not give you the needed time and attention to explain policies to ensure success, and then expect too much from you rather than ensure clear mutual understandings with hearing out self-empowerment before conflicts arose. I have experienced heavy traumas and judgmental attitudes as a result of my short time in this place.
I switched rooms because the first smelled so much like smoke. The second was a little bit better. There was hair in the bathtub and my socks turned completely black from the floor. I could also hear three different people making very loud noises throughout the night. The place also had an overall bad smell to it. I would not recommend staying here. I cant believe how much this stay cost.
Positive: Hotel was convenient for all the places we were going within the Rochester area. It was clean and comfortable with plenty of parking available. Negative: Did not realize that the hotel was so close to route 104, which is a very busy road. Would have requested a room on the back side of the hotel for quieter nights. Not used to road/traffic noise so that was a negative.
Positives out this hotel include the excellent, friendly, helpful service and the rooms were well kept when we arrived.Negatives out of this hotel include the subpar, small breakfast of either pancakes or oatmeal that is not buffet style and the squeaky showers.Overall, it is a decent hotel that lives up to its express name, but I would choose to stay somewhere else to have a bigger, higher quality continental breakfast.
I would avoid this place completely unless you had no choice. There are plenty of other IHG properties from which to choose that are much better than this. Ive stayed at nearly all of them and this is the worse by far.The lobby was dirty and smelled. The hotel staff was not wearing a mask. Every hotel Ive been to this summer has their staff wearing masks. The elevator was filthy. The breakfast choices were poor. One morning someone wore gloves handing me whatever was available. The next morning a different person was not wearing gloves. Luckily I only had coffee. I got breakfast elsewhere. I suggest you do too.The bathroom is quite small and the toilet seat looks like it stepped out of 1960. It was cracked and yellowed. Ugh. The shower kept making a whistling noise. There was one small bar of soap. I had to ask for more. The shampoo and the hand lotion were used. Toss them and replace Them! The parking lot is small and hard to maneuver. Hard to turn I to a spot.I would not recommend this place. Its old and needs to be remodeled. Find another place
We have stayed at many Holiday Inn Express hotels, they are actually our first choice. We were so disappointed by this one. We had booked for two nights but checked out after one and moved to the hotel next door. It was such a bad experience. The hotel is old but that can be forgiven if it was clean and well kept. The elevator was tiny and very dirty so we used the steps most of the time. The stairwell was also very dirty. We had 2 queens and BOTH mattresses were awful. We actually tried to put pillows in the pit on the mattress to sleep. The mattress also stunk really bad. The second floor hallway smelled horrible. The breakfast was bad. We were given cereal in a bowl and she poured milk on it and handed it to us. It was stale. We went out for breakfast. I am so disappointed. I know most Holiday Inns are nice but avoid this one at all cost. I as so glad this is an exception and not the normal.
We arrived without a reservation and, after a short time, we were checked in and in our room. The room was very clean and updated with plenty of space to move around even with 2 people, a small support dog and enough luggage for a month! This was the first motel I felt completely comfortable showering in without closing my eyes. The only snag we hit was that the front desk was absent every time we passed through the lobby. So, we had to wait to get answers to our questions. The abbreviated breakfast worked well and tasted yummy.
The hotel is rather run down for a Holiday Inn Express. The first thing I had to do was insert a couple of paper shims under the toilet to keep it from rocking and you had to continually adjust the shower damper to keep it from squeaing loud. Other than that, the room was clean. Had to go out for breakfast each day because their selections were very limited due to COVID, although all of the nearby restaurants were back to full capacity.
In the last two weeks I have stayed at three Holiday Inn Expresss. Compared to the other two, this property is poor. 1. I completed Express Check-IN but they new nothing about. 2. The thermostat on the wall was powered off, but there was a note on the AC/Heating Unit telling you to use the wall thermostat. 3. The AC unit was very loud and turned off and on all night, each time waking me. 4. The light around the mirror only lite very dimly. 5. The sink faucet was not tightened down and moved a half inch in all directions. 6. At breakfast they had tables blocking the food. You had to tell an employee what food you wanted and he would get it (out of six hotels in four states this was the only one that did this which was really sad). I really think that IHG should take a look at this hotel to see if it meets minimum standards for being a Holiday Inn Express.
Thermostat non-functional, no temperature controls. Bed quite comfortable. Bathroom very cramped, and toilet not secured to the floor. Breakfast choices very limited, and quality of prepared food was poor.If looking for a cheap place to stay, the facility seems clean and the staff friendly.
It’s one of the better places to stay in Rochester. It’s central to everything, good places to eat. A couple small issues like the rude staff Saturday night! I sent my grown daughter to get 4 k-cups and 2 blankets. She said they don’t have blankets and only sent me 2 k-cups! And the room wasn’t cleaned very well, the shampoo bottle was half empty! But all in all a decent safe place to stay. With Covid we take our own disinfectant everywhere!!
The guess services was pleasant the hotel was not up to standards the elevator went out for two days .we were on the second floor and my husband is handicap so in reference we had to take the stairway up and down if we were going out. The rooms was not that clean the carpet was stain and hotel entry needs to be updated .The entryway to the hotel feels gloomy and uninviting need some work.
The highlight of this hotel is the team members!! Everyone I encountered was really warm and friendly. The hotel was ok for a two-night stay. Nothing fancy, but nothing disgusting either. It is located amongst restaurants and other stores, so the area is convenient. Would not pick for a vacation, was fine for a quick family visit.
The hotel has a great location and the parking is very good. The Lobby is attractive. The Handicap-Access Room is laid out well, the furniture is nice and in good shape. The TV was big and very good. The bed was comfortable and the linens acceptable. Bad things: Hotel Staff bellowed loudly all the time including late at night and did not respect guests desire for a quiet stay. Hotel Staff were smoking cigarettes at the Main Entrance and guests noses were filled with tobacco smoke even though we currently have COVID protocols. The Room thermostat needed to be re-set so there was no heat in the Room. After the first night without any heat the Front Desk was told and promised it would be fixed but it wasnt fixed when the guest arrived for his second night so there was no heat for either night (mid-October chill but not freezing). Breakfast offerings consisted exclusively of a cup of chilled yogurt. The toilet in the Bathroom was not of the proper seat height for a handicapped guest. The Bathroom Door was mounted so a person in a wheelchair would not have enough space to open it. Should have been mounted with the hinge on the opposite side.
Great service Great rooms for a great price. Cleaner than some upper class places Ive been. Super friendly staff. Housekeeping stays up on the facility. This hotel is good for travelers as its close to many amenities. I had a good experience here and would gladly stay. Big shout out to the beautiful and professional day hostess there, she was a gem also.
Closing common area restrooms is simply a cost savings measure for management under the guise of Covid precautions. Breakfast bag was not worth picking up ... The attendant’s pleasant service made up for it some ...I found the room to be much less “ finished “ than I expect at IHG properties... exposed pipes under the sink area is just one detail that demonstrates lack of care.
This place is LOUD! I mean LOUD! If you need sleep this is not your hotel. Most of the guests were loud, I could hear someones TV from across the hall, the traffic heavily bleeds through the cruddy windows.5 stars for the girl who checked me in, very sweet. 0 stars pretty much across the board otherwise. It is very close to the express way if that type of location suites your needs. My room was mostly clean but fairly worn. The TV is auto set to CNN, if that tells you anything (some of you will understand). The bed wasnt that bad but the comfortor kept falling apart.I come back to Rochester in July, I will absolutely not be staying in the west ridge rd area of Greece. The area wasnt safe before I moved away 8 years ago and it is absolutely no better now. The gas station 2 blocks down gets robbed monthly according to the cashier.
I used Booking.com to book this hotel, but then had to cancel. I was told there was free cancelation, but when Booking.com messaged the hotel, they never responded. When I called and emailed the hotel, they said Booking.com never messaged them. When contacting Booking again, they said there was nothing they could do until the hotel responded, and then the hotel never answered another one of my calls or emails again.TL;DR This hotel took my money, and then Booking.com didnt do anything to refund me. I wont be using either anymore.
Where do I start? The entire hotel smelled so strongly of weed despite multiple non-smoking signs. The thermostat in our room was broken and it was unbearably hot. There were unruly guests in the hallway into the morning hours, and then again at 4am swearing, screaming, and pounding on and slamming doors. Our phone is our room was broken (wires looked cut underneath) and we had to use our phones to call the front desk. We had to call so many times, it took almost a half hour to get ahold of the woman and when we did, she basically said, oh well, she wasn’t able to do anything. Our kids were there for an event and were woken up multiple times, disrupting their sleep to the point it affected their next day negatively. I personally stayed awake the entire night due to the heat, frustration and worry for my family’s trip being ruined. I stayed there to ensure more sleep rather than an early wake up to drive to Rochester and completely regretted my decision to do so.
Price of rooms gone up and no recognition of platinum status. Had to ask about benefit of platinum status. Had a free night coming to me but front staff unaware of how to take advantage of that. I have stayed at this motel numerous times and never felt this unenthusiastic about my stay. I know covid caused a lot of issues but if you want people to come back it would be nice if there was an improvement in amenities.
DO NOT STAY HERE! Especially if you have have children. I kid you not, there was a used syringe and what appeared to be a crack pipe in the room. When we notified the staff they were not apologetic or appeared to be surprised. They tried to put us in another room and when we went up there was a man sleeping in the bed. The man was scared out of his sleep and we were completely mortified. Worst experience of my life. We slept in the car for the night because everywhere else was booked. We have a 7 month old who crawls and gets into everything. I can’t imagine what would’ve happened if we hadn’t noticed that stuff. I don’t understand how you can clean a room and leave behind something so obvious. The room also smelled funky and the carpets are just disgusting.
These hotels are pretty predictable.... nothing special but usually clean sheets and a place to sleep. Ed at the front desk was fantastic! Very welcoming and friendly. The rooms were a bit less than to be desired... garbage was left from the guest before in the bathroom and the carpet felt sticky under my socks. The breakfast was good with lots of selection. The staff made this experience better... but the rooms need some work.
Our stay was great from start to finish. The staff were always available to greet us and answer all our questions no matter what time of day. The room was large and comfortable. The bed and pillows are very soft. The washroom is a little strange as the sink is located in the main room and the toilet and shower in a separate room, but that didnt bother us much. Overall a nice hotel to stay at with lots near by!
The property is in a very convenient location, with many restaurants and stores close by. Staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the windows allow a lot of noise into the room if youre facing Ridge Rd (the main road). It was disrupting to our sleep when many cars or a loud motorcycle drove past.
Clean hotel great location and rooms are very nice. The type of people that stay here not so great. Who wants to be woken up at midnight to fist fights in the hallway into a Nother room beside you. Other than that I guess it’s not too bad if you can handle smelling weed all of the time
Great rooms for a great price. Cleaner than some upper class places Ive been. Super friendly staff. Housekeeping stays up on the facility. This hotel is good for travelers as its close to many amenities. I had a good experience here and would gladly stay. Big shout out to the beautiful and professional day hostess there, she was a gem also.
The bed and pillows were very comfortable; I had a great nights sleep. The soft and hard pillows were great, which I have never encountered before. The bathroom was quite small, but usable. The parking lot was small, had a tough time finding a spot when coming in late at night. The staff; front desk and maids were very friendly and helpful.I would definitely stay there again.
During my stay there were questionable stains on the chairs and dresser. Now if youre an adult you know what those stains are. Hair in the shower and on the floors and they only provided us with 1 wash cloth and 1 towel even though they knew it was 2ppl staying there. I cant upload the pictures because the file is to large.
Disgusting !!!!sheets were not changed hair dirt mascara on the pillow cases and with COVID NOT CHANGING THE BEDDING??? infestation of bed bugs was so unbelievable you SMELL THEM i will have to keep my suitcases outside. late 3am checkin so immediately wanted to leave but couldnt bc i paid cash and would have to wait for manager to get it i was planning on leaving at 6 and now had to sstayNo refund just NASTY addittudes and eye rolls
Tough to knock a hotel trying to cope with Covid, but the facility could use an overall upgrade and this one is showing its age. Wallpaper in hallway starting to pull away from wall. Thru-wall A/C unit interior coil dirty, control not working as indicated. No power outlets on desk in room makes it impossible to charge a laptop while working. In short not what Ive come to expect from HIE.On a better note, all staff was excellent and provided excellent service.
I cant thank the management enough for how accommodating they have been with working with my night-shift schedule. They were incredibly fair with giving me an extended checkout time so I could get a few reasonable hours of sleep before driving home in the upcoming afternoon. As always, HIE comfort is the greatest value. I love the beds, sheets, pillows and bathrooms. Very quiet (and dark!)
I stayed the night before a golf tournament. The room was very clean and I was greeted by front desk staff every time. Breakfast is good w lots of choices. Bed was big and comfy. Fitness center is small but had brand new equipment. Only downside was bathroom door closed very close to toilet so not a lot of room in there.
My brother was getting married and we needed a hotel to stay at in Rochester NY. We ended up booking a room here and were very pleased with our stay. Most of our family and friends stayed here also with a great experience too. The staff was very helpful fixing our room issue as we dealt with a broken air conditioner due to hotel renovations at the time. There was one staff member that really made our stay that much better and her name was Lillian (Lilly) Morales from the breakfast station. She was so sweet and so enjoyable to wake up and see every morning and always had a huge smile on her face as she greeted us with a warm Good Morning and some very nice conversations. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Rochester in the future...thank you to all of the wonderful staff once again!!!!PS...I also forgot to mention that my son left one of his Nike slides behind in the room and we called them and explained the situation. They couldnt find it but took my number so if they did they would call to let me know. Well i just took it as a loss until i received a phone call a week later with great news that they found it and I could pay to have them ship it back to me. I really appreciated that they didnt forget about me! :)
My sister and I stayed here for 2 nights while our college contract ended and our summer housing contract began. It was very homey and CLEAN with no bedbugs in sight. We got really good sleep and loved the variety of pillows (she liked soft, I liked the firm)! The wifi was fast and reliable, and although we didnt use the amenities out of habit, there were many available to choose from. Highly recommend!
Stayed here for one night while travelling with my family. We stayed in a king suite and found the beds very comfortable, and liked the room layout. The hotel must have been recently renovated as the decor is very modern and attractive. the free breakfast was very good and overall the hotel is very good value. You will find cheaper hotels but it wont be as nice as this one.
Usually I love staying at a Holiday Inn Express. The clean rooms and complimentary hot breakfast at an affordable price are great for me. However, this hotel did not live up to such standards as I have come to expect. On my first night here there was an issue with the toilet and someone from the front desk came up to have a look at it. As it turns out, the toilet wasnt broken, just not working the way it should. One might think that would be a good reason to move a guest to a room with a fully functioning toilet, however no move was made by the desk agent to do so. I asked to be moved and finally was taken to another room. When I stepped off the elevator to my new room I was overwhelmed by the smell of smoke permeating the entire third floor. Not only that, other guests on the floor were very loud. I should mention it was 2am at this point. To say I did not sleep well would be a vast understatement. As if that werent enough, I was awakened earlier than planned by the housekeeping staff knocking on the door at 8:30am. I was under the impression the Do Not Disturb sign on the door meant just that. Apparently not here. Clearly they didnt get the message because a few hours later the housekeeping woman called the phone in the room asking when I would be out to clean the room. I felt this was rude and excessive.I would like to report that my stay improved from there, but I was bothered every day by the housekeeping staff before 10am. One morning while I was at breakfast, my bed was stripped, but not remade by the time I got back. In the hotels defense, they thought I was checking out that day, but why are you in my room stripping the bed two hours before checkout? Why are you knocking on the doors before check out any day, for that matter?Im not an early riser so I dont get down to breakfast when the food is freshest, so for that I will not fault the hotel. However, every morning that I went to breakfast, the staff was waiting in the breakfast room socializing and waiting to clean up the breakfast food. I, for one, dont think that is appropriate. Breakfast should be a time to relax and greet the day, not hear the gossip of the hotel staff. The room was clean enough. The bathroom was a little small, but serviceable. The bed was harder than I would like, but that is a matter of taste. Wifi worked with no problems and the free on-demand on the TV was a very nice quality.
The hotel is alright, its like they are trying to update a dated hotel. You can hear everything in the hallway the doors are very thin. Room was smaller than expected. Our door in the bathroom fell apart they reacted quickly to repair it. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The hotel was clean. Would stay again for a night or 2.
Going to start with the bad. 2 small things, heat in the room wasnt working (fortunately the room was comfortable enough, but needed to mention it) and we were placed directly next to an elevator, so loud morning people turned into an alarm clock.Otherwise, the beds were amazing, the people were great, and the breakfast was awesome. Nice place to stay!
Room was clean! Ed on staff was fantastic! Did a great job welcoming each time and always was personable! I hope he is valued because the hotel appearance in my room was unfinished. Try not to stay near laundry room. The gym was ok, just need some weights. Hotel was very clean! Mirror in the restroom is so dim you need a flashlight to do your makeup. Good area just need some new thoughts around the new remodeled concept.
The staff at this hotel were very friendly and helpful. I went down to get breakfast and bring up to our room. I was struggling with carrying everything and a very helpful staff member offered me a tray. Earlier in our stay I was looking for the stairs and a staff member noticed and asked if he could help me with something. We stayed two nights and didnt want our room cleaned in between. I brought out my old towels and the cleaning staff was more than pleasant to give me more and whatever else I may of needed. The bed was very comfortable and blankets smelled great and were very soft. The hotel was in the midst of being remodeled, so you could tell it was being worked on. That was the only unpleasant thing to the eye. Although, it was not dusty and did not effect the quality of the room. Which was excellent.
Front desk and breakfast staff are phenomenal, It ends there. My profile states high floor, away from elevator, well the elevator was next to my room. My room faced the busy road, very noisy, ac/heater had issues fan rattled all night. Bathroom fan was also rattling, poorly maintained hotel. Elevator looked like it was used for freight. Housekeeping staff carrying on at 8am in the hallway outside the room, no consideration for the guests. Not my choice when I am in town. Really the first time i was disappointed in a HI express.
We chose this property because of its proximity to our dinner event and we were very satisfied with the choice. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and professional. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet.A couple of specifics: The in-room high-speed internet was as good as any hotel weve visited. We were able to stream video without any issues. Our preference is for firmer pillows, but there were plenty available. My only wish is that there was more space on the bathroom counter. With two people, it was a little tight. Other than that, the room was terrific. The breakfast was a typical Holiday Inn Express spread. The food seemed very fresh and the staff was present to accommodate any requests. If we return to the area, we wouldnt hesitate to choose this location again.
I have not stayed overnight at a hotel for some time my experience was a pleasant experience that I hope to repeat at a later date soon. The room was clean the bed was clean and comfortable. We had plenty of towels and the staff was very nice front desk and custodial services.
I have stayed here at least once a year for the past five years. This will be the last time I stay here. The renovations made the place less comfortable. Upon check in the staff would not take by business credit that I made the reservation with. The breakfast is overcooked by heat lamps and the cold options are not very fresh. One of the staff members was cleaning off tables with their bare hands. These newly designed rooms made the rooms look smaller and the bed is equivalent to sleeping on the floor of the hotel. The water in my bathroom has two temps...cold and super hot. This hotel hasn gradually gotten worse over the years.
My girlfriend and I stayed there for 5 nights and it was a pleasant stay for both of us. Dont really have any negative comments. It was really good. Tv channels are good, Bed was comfortable, the room cleaning staff always called and asked if we needed anything, staff was friendly, breakfast was enjoyable. Its a small hotel and i really didnt expect any royal treatment but I got exceptional service there. Rooms arent huge but i went there expecting that so it was no problem for me. The bed was kind of high in my girlfriends opinion but it was fine with me. Overall i am really pleased with my stay there and I would stay there again in the future.P.S the location is PERFECT! Variety of famous restaurants and the mall are nearby.
We were in town for one night to attend a family wedding. The room was ready when we arrived, the amenities in the room were satisfactory/average. We could have used an extra bath towel. The front desk staff was on the phone or away from the desk a lot, but when they were communicating with us directly they were very pleasant.
Liked the overall experience. Newly renovated and friendly staff. The breakfast selection was okay, but some of the serving utensils were grouped together, so they were touching and mixing different food items. For example, my daughter is allergic to eggs, but likes bacon. So we had to be extra careful. Other than that, it was restful experience.
We were planning on staying 5 days, but couldnt take any more than 3. The hotel is being updated and you could still smell fresh paint which bothered my wifes allergies. The one elevator there is in terrible shape and is used by the room service staff for cleaning and bedding supplies along with trash removal. It smells. It needs refurbishment. The room air conditioner was very noisy and difficult to adjust. But the noise did block most of the busy road noise. The staff all sat right outside the front door and smoked which made entering and leaving annoying. The room was clean and neat. But the new mirror over the sink has very poor lighting. This area needs more lighting for shaving and putting on makeup. There is no safe for valuables. The bathroom needed finishing (holes in the wall, bathtub caulking cleanup, and fix the door so you can shut it). I have some pictures if needed. The lights in the fitness center are motion activated, but apparently using the stationary bike is not enough motion to keep them on. No swimming pool.Sorry for this poor review, but thats why we moved out.
We stayed for a volleyball tournament and were impressed with the cleanliness, super comfortable beds and friendly service. The only disappointment was not being able to access the breakfast before going to the tournament. The weekend breakfast time is 7am and week day is 6am. We had to leave at 6:30am. The breakfast was one of the major reasons we picked this hotel. Overall it was a good experience and allowed us all to have a good nights sleep.
Far too loud.Numerous loud guests screaming with doors open blasting TVs that you can hear through 2 doors.Loud traffic, it bled through the windows as though the windows were barely there.Loud cleaning staff, hitting my door with a vacuum and yelling about their lives. The only good experience I had was the wonderful girl that checked me in, I wish I could remember her name.
Hotel was clean, room has a strange set up as the sink area is immediately walking in your room across from the bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Air conditioner was a bit noisy. A lot of t.v. Choices. No pool/hot tub. Breakfast was good, a lot of selection. Elevator was a little scary, seemed like door wasn’t going to open.
I want to start out by saying that the staff that were particularly helpful and or an exemplary model were the really tall guy that fixed my fridge and the young woman in the breakfast area. Thank you both for the fine job you did! That being said the woman that seems to run the front desk wasnt rude but she wasnt friendly. I expect a little more than that when Im paying $179 per night. I get that people have off days and I guess that may be the reason.Next would be the elevator that looks like it needs to be completely remodeled or replaced. The ceilings in the lobby are incredibly low too. The hotel looks like remodeling began and money ran out and things just were painted over or left undone. The bathroom near the breakfast area looks like it will be nice but none of the finish work is done. The room is TIGHT!! The bathroom is TIGHT!! The sink backs up even if you just rinse your hands. The fridge has a control switch on the back which I couldnt find on the inside where it should be. Called the front desk and almost immediately the tall guy I mentioned before came, pulled the fridge out from its place and raised the temp, put it back, and was friendly and gracious. This at best was a $79 per night hotel not a $179. I paid the full price because it would have been too much hassle to look for another place to stay. I would not recommend this place at all. Spend your money someplace else.
The front desk and cleaning staff were very nice to us. The woman working the breakfast area was somewhat rude and spoke Spanish to the woman working the front desk not realizing we understand Spanish. She had a bad attitude and we could tell she didnt like working the breakfast area. The gentleman working the front desk at night was a joy to talk to as most of the people working the front desk. The hotel was being remodeled and we understand that it wasnt going to look perfect. We didnt have hot water two nights in row. The room was a little small, but the bed was great and climate control perfect.
When you walk in to register at a hotel and the management is friendly and awesome (Ed was fantastic and so was the other gentlemen with the great name that escapes me!), you know you will be treated right. The newly renovated lobby is wonderful. So much better than before. Ed said they lost some customers because of the new beds!! Ridiculous. Its the first time in years I actually slept all night on a hotel bed. And I travel a lot for business. Great stay and I will return to this hotel because the hotel down the road where my seminar was is way too expensive.
The location itself is in great proximity to my families homes which is a good thing for me however I feel as if the Covid aspects could be taking a little bit more serious as far as the communication in proximity to other guests as well as the cleanliness of the room. I did mention it to the front desk personnel they stated that they would let the management know going forward I did not hear anything after that as well as there may have been something going on due to a very noisy morning with the police on scene.
I booked 4 rooms for out of town guests. We arrived before check in but were greeted and accomdated early without an issue. Ed booked us all close together on same floor. Rooms were cozy and comfortable and clean. Breakfast had good variety and times. The rooms were quiet. No outside noise. Comfortable mattresses and pillows.
I do not generally do these reviews, but I felt that my last two visits to this particular HIE were disappointing enough that I should take the time to complete one this time. Let me say that I travel for my job and I use Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express exclusively in my travels and I am always impressed and made to feel extremely comfortable and welcome at any HIE I stay at throughout the US. My last 2 stays at this particular one though were very forgettable. The front desk personnel were very disinterested almost to the point that they gave me the impression I was bothering them. No amount of cheerful conversation could coax any pleasantness out of first the female upon my check-in and the male upon my departure. Their disposition was definitely not what I have grown accustomed to in my past visits to HI Hotels. The room was very comfortable as always. The breakfast was great as always as well and the breakfast staff is very friendly and accommodating. The inside of the hotel is a bit dated but its quiet and clean. The front desk staff would definitely keep me from returning to this location.
Stayed at the hotel for 3 days, the hotel being renovated and we stayed in a newer room. Clean comfortable beds and newer amenities. Everything was good but went to great! I left my watch behind, after completely unpacking and not seeing it I decided to call the hotel with little optimism Id find it. The hotel not only found the watch, it was at the desk and was sent to me in the mail! Thank you Leslie for the outstanding customer service and to the staff (finding the watch) for your integrity.
Hotel was not as clean as I would have expected during covid. Mask wearing was not being enforced or even at all watched. Front clerk was in back room and I finally called the hotel from my phone so someone would come out to check me in. I gave 3 stars because I do like that the rooms can accomadate extra people with 2 beds and a pullout sofa
My wife and I stayed at this Holiday Inn Express while we were on a shopping trip. We figured we would also get a room with a jacuzzi for a little romance as well. The room was amazing, clean, and inviting. All of the in-room amenities were excellent and met our expectations. The staff at the front desk however was rude (spoke poorly of another guest leaving while we were checking in), and the cleaning staff could be heard making rude remarks in the hallway the next morning.Since we didnt deal with the staff for the most part, our visit was pleasant and we enjoyed our stay nonetheless.
I mentioned the Loud AC to the cleaning staff and they told me nothing could be done about it.3 out of the 5 nights I had loud neighbors till 3/4 AM. The first two nights they were drunk. The staff were very friendly and accommodating but w no pool, breakfast and no cleaning of the rooms for the whole time I was there, I wondered why the room price wasn’t reduced!!
The only redeeming quality to this property was Ed, the front desk agent who was personable, helpful and accommodating. As a spire elite member, I must say this is the worst property I have ever stayed in (IHG property or non-IHG property). Never have I left a hotel feeling dirty - this one I did - couldnt wait to get to my next destination and shower. The room was dimly light and dirty. I tried to post pictures about how dirty the room was. I literally took a tissue to turn off the light when leaving as the light switches were beyond disgusting. In addition, there was paint that had not been cleaned up on the radiator and paint chipped in many places. The A/C was noise, beds hard (and the first room I was in I asked to move because it looked as though someone had already sat on the bed and leaned against the pillow). Worst night sleep. The bathrooms too way too small and dimly light. You have to enter, turn around, close the door, then you can sit and access the tp. I am loyal to IHG properties and will continue, but if this has been my first experience with HIE, it would have been my last.
Though the hotel and room looked nice and provided some nice accommodations, we had some issues with our stay. My personal face wash and hair conditioner turned up missing, but not my shampoo oddly. Id left them in the shower the whole trip and were gone one day. Also the plumbing for the shower needed repair - it was not connected to the wall and the valve to convert from bath to shower leaked air making a squealing sound. Lastly, the thermostat did not function - the AC needed manual adjustment on the device. However the fan function didnt work either, as setting the fan to the on position (not auto) resulted in it shutting off when the room reached a certain temperature. Meaning itd keep kicking on throughout the night.
The staff were great. The king sized beds were not the newer comfy HI Express mattresses - the queens were.....you might inquire about if the kings have been replaced - ours was hard and we changed rooms. Lots of noise in our first floor room from breakfast crowd.....we moved to the 3rd floor. Our shower squealed in our first room - fine when we moved. Staff, as I said, was kind, wanted to help. There is also a lounge for HI members, with comfy leather couches, TV, fridge etc.
Hotel was clean and close to the Kodak Center. New carpet was recently installed. Breakfast was hot, coffee was excellent. We were able to check in before the check in time, which was convenient. Customer service could be improved for the front desk. Person was not friendly at all.
The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. No issues or problems with the room or common areas. The hotel has a Spire and Platinum Elite lounge, but it can only be accessed during the work week so we did not get to experience it during our weekend stay. Recommend that they open it everyday for members to experience. Overall, good stay with no real complaints other than the lounge hours.
All staff I encountered were more than helpful and friendly. But...when I arrived in my room there was a fly flying around. On the fourth floor. The window was not sealed well and I had to stuff a hole with tissue. The next day, a lightening bug was in my room. Then on day 3 it rained and rain began to come in the window. I told the front desk that I was checking out soon and didn’t want to move rooms. They provided extra towels and apologized. Also the bathroom is so small that my legs hit the door as I sat on the toilet. And I’m only 5’1”! Terrible bathroom design.
Weve stayed at this hotel 3 times now. The first two times were ok. One perk was the gentleman at the front desk was outstanding, always a pleasure to chit chat with. Last week, we arrived but he wasnt there on Christmas Eve. We were tired and wanted a king bed not on the highway side, as the highway side is loud! That is not how the hotel is set up, so we had a not so comfy bed with terrible pillows on the loud highway side. Our sink drained very slowly, gross. We were able to change rooms but the new room had a water stain on the ceiling in the bathroom. The front desk woman did not tell us about a few perks we knew about previously b/c of our rewards status, I had to inquire about them myself...and I almost forgot to ask. This is just me, but it bothers me the hotel does not have regular paper cups, but cups with styrofoam on the outside and paper on the inside; these are not recyclable. For the tired traveler, could you put a hot water thermos with the coffee in the lobby? Its not the worst stay, but again, as tired travelers, we were hoping not to have hassles. We wont stay here again, but will find another HI property, perhaps.
This hotel provided a very comfortable stay for my family of five. The room was perfect for our family with the vanity separate from the toilet and shower. We requested a cot when we booked the room and it was in our room when we arrived. The hotel and rooms were clean and the breakfast was more than adequate. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly! The coffee was great and available all day. There are several restaurants and a mall in the area.
I often stay here for business rather than staying at a pricier hotel because I get the extras for being a Priority Club member. As a gold member, this stay gave me the key to the 2nd floor lounging room. It didnt seem like much but since I had take out from a local restaurant, rather than eating in my room, I ate in this lounge, watched a big screen TV, free water/soda, free snack, and had the comfort of eating at a table where I could spread out my food and feel comfortable. This was definitely a nice extra. I like that they serve good breakfasts. And they also have fresh homemade cookies at the front desk counter! Who doesnt want that? The rooms are always clean and spacious too. I rate this a 10.
The moment we walked into the hotel after a 6 hour drive, we were warmly greeted at the front desk. The staff member made sure we were checked in quickly so we could go to our rooms. The food service staff and the cleaning staff were also very friendly and was ready to assist when asked. The staff is what made the stay at the hotel a very pleasant and relaxing experience.
The place had a smooth and easy check in. The front desk person greeted me with a smile and acknowledged me as a SPIRA member. He offered me the welcome bag and me the PW for the internet connection. When asked for a referral for restaurant he gave great recommendations for what I was looking for. He also offered if I needed a wake up call. Upon entering my room the temperature was perfect. The bathroom was clean and the shower was wonderful. The bed was comfy and cozy. I would defiantly recommend this Holiday Inn Express to friends and would come back myself.
Excellent hotel and facilities. Enjoyed our stay, however the only negative comment I have is the hall carpeting on the second floor needed cleaning. Lots of stains and the elevator had a smell to it. Elevator also used as a freight elevator so it shows lots of wear. However the rooms were in good shape and clean.
This was a great stay and a major kudos to the entire staff. The room was cleaned and prepped, the front desk staff was amazing, and my stay was very enjoyable.Kudos to Tony:I have to commend Tony on his outstanding customer service actions. He went above and beyond to try and meet my accommodation requests. Even though, I wasnt able to specifically what I requested, he did an amazing job trying to accommodate. He was very detailed and courteous. He ran thru the welcome check-in protocols and IHG Rewards Member acknowledgment flawlessly. Good Job!
Hotel looks nice until you get into the room, maybe it was just my room, not sure. Renovations were very unprofessional, paint peeling and cracking, shower whistling very loudly and loud whistling noise all night. Unfinished drywall in the bathroom and an electrical outlet near the sink that couldn’t/shouldn’t have passed an inspection, it was falling out of the wall pretty much. Very disappointed I with my stay.
We have stayed at this particular Holiday Inn Express for the last three years when visiting family in the area. The complaints I have are of the design of the hotel, but the customer service is excellent and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient and the beds are comfortable. If travelling with more than two people, the size of the rooms can present a problem. The bathroom is way too small so that just taking a shower can be a challenge. The sink and vanity are in plain view to anyone in the hallway when opening the door. Again, design flaws, not customer service oriented concerns.
If youre looking for a great breakfast, youve come to the right place. The quality and variety are first rate. Other advantages of this hotel: good location (ten minutes to airport), close to malls. Road outside is very busy, but noise inside is minimal. Rooms are small but clean; hotel is undergoing renovation -- condition of elevator and carpeting above the first floor are abysmal -- and hopefully will be fresher soon. They make a horrible first-impression. Priced slightly lower than other hotels -- and priced about right for area and amenities.
Basically, this was a very good stay at this hotel. The room was comfortable and the staff was excellent. I really appreciated the Platinum lounge as it was a great place to relax. The location was nice with restaurants in walking distance. The only negative I can say is that a pool and hot tub is usually expected at this price point. But everything else about this hotel and the staff was excellent.
Last month, my Wife and I stayed at this hotel once again and nothing has changed. The staff was wonderful as before. I was actually surprised to see the same faces as years ago!! To me, that means they must love their jobs which leads me to believe the management really takes care of them. The room was a delight. Clean, warm and fresh. Enjoyed the high speed internet which did not lag. My wife needs a high speed connection for her work and she did not get dropped once from her network.Breakfast was great for being free. Lots of options.I full heartily recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Rochester Area.
Friendly staff, clean and quiet rooms.I would have offered 5 stars if the elevator wasn’t so hot and dirty, if the TV had been in better work order, and if the included breakfast hadn’t been so lowly stocked (partially empty) a full hour before the close of breakfast. Breakfast is served during a 3 hour window, so a full hour prior to end is a big deal. But in all, these are not deal breakers, I had s good stay.
This motel was a great place to stay when I attended a concert at Kodak Center recently. All of the individuals who worked at the front desk were very pleasant to me throughout my stay and provided helpful information about parking at Kodak Center and the area restaurants. The breakfast in the morning was also very nice and the food service staff was extremely courteous and gracious. Overall, it is a very nice motel and I would certainly stay here again if I attend a concert in the area.
Hotel stay was very good. Staff at front desk were very friendly and helpful, provided excellent service. Hotel was very clean, and comfortable rooms. However could use some decor updating, starting to look a little dated, desks, and furniture looking a little worn. Hot buffet breakfast had a great variety of options. Great location for shopping, large malls within 5-20 minutes of the hotel. Restaurants within walking distance. Has access to cycling trails outside hotel. Good value and good place to stay for weekend away.
This was a great room for the price and had all the amenities. There was not a lot of extra room but it was perfect for an overnight while attending a conference. It was clean but a little worn and the windows were a little thin. But I was very happy and the breakfast was excellent. It was also nice to have high speed wireless internet included in the room rate. Also very quick to downtown 10 minutes on the highway.
This Hotel was not terrible, but it was very old feeling and not updated at all. The elevator was actually scary and made strange noises. The room was smaller than I anticipated for the king bed I reserved, so it was very cramped. And the bathroom was odd. As you opened the door you were in the bathroom basically so it was not private to wash up or brush your teeth. It was awkward, to say the least. But the staff was super and the breakfast was good. This hotel just needs an overhaul.
Going on fishing charter the next morning at 6:00 AM. From out of town so decided to use reward points for room. Points used seemed fair and room was nice. Just needed for sleep. Coffee was not ready in the morning but not the desk persons fault. We left at 5:00 AM and they had just taken the pot to the kitchen to make fresh. Will stay at this hotel again..
This hotel was awesome. We needed to have another hotel ASAP in Rochester area. They went above and beyond to help us out. Treated us with so much respect and kindness. Very clean hotel with awesome rooms (very nice), extremely comfortable beds and pillows, and one heck of a breakfast! Can’t say enough good! Thank you from the Wolff family. We appreciate you all.
I have stayed at this location on a number of times and the staff has always been very accommodating to our needs, especially when you need for rooms to be next to each other. It is non-smoking which is an absolute plus.. The rooms have always been clean and tidy. If I have any special requests they are always taken care quickly. I have enjoyed my stays and would recommend it to others, hands done. Location is prefect.
This hotel appears to be an older one which is currently undergoing renovations. There was no pool. The rooms were a bit smaller than I like. But it was very clean. The beds were very comfortable and the staff bent over backwards to make sure were were comfortable. We stayed a week. It was a good experience.
I recently stayed at this hotel and found that the staff was very helpful and courteous. The breakfast buffet in the AM was very good and better than expected. The IHG lounge was outstanding offering complimentary snacks and beverages for members. The seating in the lounge was very comfortable and the TV was very large. Overall this was an excellent stay.
At first glance, the hotel looks beautiful and newly renovated. However, there was a serious lack of attention to detail during the renovation. First, there is one elevator for the hotel which is small and extremely slow. Second, the door was constantly jamming. Third, the new AC controls on the wall weren’t connected. Instead, you had to use the controls on the actual AC unit. Adjusting the temperature didn’t make any difference, and condensation collected on top the unit creating puddles which dropped onto the rug- potential mold issue. The fridge had one setting- frozen. We had actually bought sushi/rice which froze solid overnight in the fridge. We had to throw it all out. The shower made a constant high pitch squealing sound, and there was not hot water in the morning. The underside of the sink is open shelving which revealed a giant hole in the wall around the pipes where they never patched the wall after updating the sink. Finally, I was disappointed to discover they had no pool. I specifically picked holiday inn because I thought they’d have a pool. No such luck.
First off I should say that this was my wedding night and I was completely horrified. My bridesmaid and groomsmen booked a room then told us so we booked the same hotel. We came from the same apartment complex were in the same wedding and all rode together. I had my friend call the hotel to tell them will be checking in late since our ceremony ended late and we were on our way to the reception. We both had confirmation numbers and they told her that she didn’t have a room because her card never went through even though she was never notified of this at all. They told her that there wasn’t anything they could do and that she would have to rebook but they had no rooms. She explained to them that she had a confirmation she was coming with the bride. They didn’t offer anything to help her just said they could call management and that was it. They said
The exterior looks standard, from there t went down hill. I have stayed at numerous other HIE hotels in the area recently, most of which have been recently updated. It seams this one it at the bottom of the list.Rooms need some serious updating. It appears they tried with the sink / vanity combo that is inside the main door when you walk in, but it is out of place with the rest of the room. The bathroom is tiny. Standard king bed was fine for sleeping, sheets and pillows were clean. Overall the room is smaller than average. It was fine for me for the night traveling on business but would not suit me for a weekend or with another person in the room. The breakfast area was clean, but the pancake machine was out of order, the coffee was weak, and the first two yogurts i grabbed out of the fridge had already been opened. I went ahead and threw them out. Also while i was eating breakfast the hotel staff was congregating around the front desk staring at the very few of us (Myself, a couple at another table, and another single traveler at the front of the room) that were in the breakfast room. It made me uncomfortable. I filled up my coffee and left. I read the paper in the parking lot instead of the breakfast room.
I expected to see a hotel that has been mostly renovated based on reviews I have read going back months. Clearly the guest rooms have not been touched and the front desk area was torn apart. This size job should take two to three days. One service hall way was under renovation but I saw no work being done. At the rate the workers were moving, a complete renovation of the hotel would take several...years. Guest room furniture is dated and shows significant wear. Windows let traffic noise in as if they were open, I checked, they were not. Carpet had several stains. Toilet/shower area was so small the door did not open fully.
The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was surprisingly yummy, great selection and spread. Downsides are the elevator is terrifying, dont get a high floor room if you have fears of falling in an elevator, and the bed was very firm and hard, woke up with sore backs.
We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Rochester/Greece. Although it was convenient for us, we would not stay again, even though we frequently stay at HIEs. The hotel is undergoing renovations. There were construction materials scattered throughout the hotel and on the grounds. The front end staff was not professional. We were not greeted warmly, despite being Priority Club members. The elevator was small and filthy. The breakfast area was partially renovated with half finished sheet rock, and other issues. Fortunately our room was clean and adequate. But, due to all of these problems, we felt that the price was far higher than the location and the conditions merited. Not recommended.
Although we were finally able to get a queen size bed and the rooms were updated, the room itself was very compact with the queen size beds probably because the room was meant for the double beds they use to have.. They forgot a couple of things while renovating the room. The showers squelled when you turned it on, the bathroom door wouldnt latch because the jan was too far away and there were some stained tiles still on the ceiling. The walls are so thin that we could hear the next door neighbors clearly, and they werent even that loud. Although the kids in the hall were. Its a nice hotel, and they are renovatimg it nicely, but I wouldnt want to stay there with a family or for more than a one night stay.
Great facade! The outside of this property is immaculate, gives you the impression of a new or very well maintained property. Once you walk inside things start to deteriorate. The lobby is fairly well kept and modernized, the desk clerk who checked me in could not show any less interest if she made an effort to, and effort was clearly not her forte. I made every effort to cheer her and make some friendly conversation as I am accustom to at other hotels across the country. When she asked me to fill out address information, I asked dont you have that listed with my Rewards Account? She answered we do not have your rewards number, not the hotels fault, more the travel agent who booked this stay, but the assumption was made that I had no account and no effort made to find out, had I not raised the question. Checkout was a better experience. The hotel deteriorated further as I arrived at the elevator, cracked tiles, cracked buttons, showed a great deal of use that is not maintained. Further deteriorating as I arrived on my floor and into the hallway, a dark 1950s look, I think the carpet had seen much better days at least 10 years ago. Then the room, again a dark, little maintained space. The bathroom however old as it appeared showed signs of an effort to keep it clean and fresh. Overall not a terrible place to hit the pillow for the night, Ive seen worse and walked out of much worse. But with all the hotels in the area to choose from, I will not be back at this site any time soon.
Upon checking in the front desk attendant was very unpleasant almost rude. Very small and old looking style to room. Elevator ancient looking and sounding. The bathroom was so small it was awkward to even get the door closed once in there. I had booked a handicapped room due to parent in wheelchair, I guess my fault for not triple checking before finalizing reservation online that in this case handicapped meant for hearing assisted room. In the morning the housekeeping staff and the breakfast attendant were pleasant.
Roaches and no HOT water. After a long 8 hours ride to the hotel with 3 kids crying sleeping and nagging. We arrived to the Holiday inn express in Greece Rochester. Quick checking in august 25th Friday. Went to the room first impression was good and room was clean until my wife starts screaming after seeing a Cockroaches near the sink. I didn’t care I was so tired and wanted to sleep. My wife didn’t sleep and was told to wait until the manager comes. She was nice and changed the room for us. we left because we had to be somewhere in the am, came back at night all we wanted is a nice clean shower guess what NO HOT WATER . my wife called the guy down stairs and he told her I can’t do nothing for you and just keep the water running “ with a rude tone” I was disgusted and spoke with the manger in the morning she did something the hot water came back but it disappeared . I was sick of it we checked out on Monday. And they told us it was the hotel fault the Plummer didn’t do the job right. But guess what it’s not my problem I had the worst hotel experience ever. They gave us some extra lousy points that I didn’t need and with nothing.
We needed a place to stay after a long trip. This hotel is great. Clean, all updated. My only complaint is that we were on the 1st floor very close to the kitchen. I was woke very early by hotel staff arguing in the hallway about who was to make the coffee. The loud talking went on for awhile. Also, a lot of the cold items on the breakfast bar were frozen, ie., milk, muffins.
I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express many times and I am never, never been disappointed. The rooms are always so comfortable to me. They are clean and I love the sinks. The only thing that I have to complain about is that the elevator has a terrible smell. The breakfast is wonderful with many choices of food to choose from. Definately will stay there again.
On a two-day driving trip with my daughter, it was a perfect way to recover from many hours on the road and to prepare ourselves for another day of driving. Our room was lovely, clean and very quiet. The breakfast was excellent. The exercise room enabled me to get the old blood moving before the long trip. The check in and check out were friendly, quick and very efficient. No complaints.
I travel quite frequently and throughout the northeastern USA. And almost always stay at HIs or HIEs. In general, I find that HI and HIE give great value for the money, and are predictable (in a good way) in terms of cleanliness, courtesy and overall comfort.Unfortunately, I cannot say that about this venue. The staff, particularly the staff at the front desk, is consistently unfriendly. While never outright rude, the front desk clerk exudes an air of indifference bordering on disdain. Of the three or so interactions with the various front desk personnel, only one of them seemed up to HI standards. And this has been true on previous trips as well.Beyond that, the rooms are small and dark. And the sink outside the bathroom set up is inconvenient. Also, the faucet does not go with the sink, and wants to send the water up out of the front of the sink and onto the person trying to use it. No pool or hot tub either. And not even ice and soda machines on every floor. On the positive side, the staff at breakfast was courteous and efficient, and the breakfasts themselves were fine. The room, and the lobby, were clean. And the room, including the bed, was comfortable. The TV, shower, commode, fridge, AC and so on all worked fine. The location of the hotel itself is also incredibly convenient, which is why I stay there whenever I am in Rochester.
The staff at this hotel is fantastic. They were very attentive and courteous. The breakfast (included every day from 6:30 to 9:00 AM) is just OK. There are lots of options like oatmeal, pancakes, cereal, eggs and sausage (or bacon, depending on the day). But none of them are all that great. I never had eggs that I would consider edible. I had to put them between two pieces of toast just to finish them.I ended up going to Dennys when I wanted to eat eggs.
Very friendly staff. Smells like a generic hotel, which is good because there are many places in the area that allow smoking in some rooms. Im pleased that this place doesnt reek.Beds leave a bit to be desired, but theyre comfortable enough for a business trip. If I was traveling for pleasure, Id be disappointed.Breakfast is okay - very canned fare, but its hot and free, so its tough to complain. The whole place feels like its been around a long time. Due for a renovation, imo.Overall a passable experience, even if not a world class one.
Staff polite , greeted as platinum member. Had to ask for complimentary room upgrade which was available. I had requested upgrade if available when I reserved on line but had to ask for iif was not offered. Note the room included a fridge that was turned off. I had to pull the fridge out of cabinet to access back where temp control was located. Priority club room with snacks and beverage was nice . All in all it was good stay. But noticed the hotel looked worn and appears owners / management is careful where they are reinvesting. Wall paper peeling , dirty carpet especially in the corners three way , extensions cords to make up for lack of plugs etc.I would return due to fact the staff made up for the esthetics and cost was reasonable.
Generally OK. Things were clean, room was affordable, staff and service was good and breakfast is varied. It is however definitely an older hotel so it comes with the things that go with that. Halls and rooms are darker, doors, walls and elevator look worn and old, paint chipping in places, WIFI is spotty, but probably the most noticeable thing is the the distinct smell of smoke from when that was allowed. Overall though, didnt ruin the experience.
This hotel is fine for a very short stay. Rooms are clean, staff friendly, but rooms are small and arranged in a strange way. Bathroom sink in hallway/entry way of room leaving no privacy. Tolerable for short term. Location is very convenient for many things in area.
The hotel is not all that bad compared to others that Ive been. Front desk Ed was awesome and quite informative. The renovations are ok but those of us with a professional eye for detail can clearly see that they tried to go cheap on the construction quality of the work. The elevator is a slow noisy dinosaur. As for the breakfast, it was the same for three mornings in a row and it was obviously, left overs! The biscuits where hard as a hammer and sausages where so dry that the knife and fork had broke trying to cut them. I ended up throughing the plate away and going to burger king.New plan, lower the room price to cover going elsewhere to eat breakfast!
I stay at many IHG properties, particularly HI expresses. This has been the best one of this brand Ive stayed at in quite a while. I was upgraded to a suite, had a very comfortable bed and room, had excellent internet access, and had a good breakfast the next morning. This hotel had a hospitality room for Elite members to get extra snacks and water/soft drinks. Nice extra!! I was only there one night, so I could not check out other hotel offerings.Ive already booked a return stay at this hotel for July 9-11.
Number one priority for me is cleanliness and was not disappointed. No chemical smells which is one of the issues with some hotels. No smoke smell either. Didnt use the common areas much, so cant really comment.A real highlight was the breakfast area. The young man who takes care of it should be commeneded for his attention to detail. Very helpful. The food was good with decent variety and even gluten free muffins.Give it a try.
When checking in we were welcomed with a smile and friendliness. At breakfast, the staff was concerned with all the options being available for us and he also from time to time walked around and removed whatever we were complete with eating. This is service one usually expects from 5 star hotels and doesnt always get.I thank the staff for making our stay experience a positively memorable one.
We enjoyed our stay, it was comfortable and everything was neat and tidy. The bathrooms are a bit awkward. I like having the sink away from the toilet area, it allows multiple guests to get ready without being occupied by the shower or toilet use. However, the shower and toilet area is tight! Not a lot of room to move about. Other than that the stay was enjoyable.
Staff is great! Rooms are nothing fancy but they are clean and well kept. The gold and platinum lounge is nice for a NA beverage and snack. This hotel is nicely located for dining arrangements. walk to- Olive Garden, The Distillery (great sports bar w/excellent wings), Applebees, Red Lobster and Famous Daves BBQ. Nice value as well
We arrived after a 12 hour drive somewhat tired and weary, but the friendliness of the front desk staff brought a smile to our faces and we experienced a great night of sleep before continuing our trip the next morning. Breakfast was very good for the value. Love staying at HI Express!!
Staff are very friendly and helpful, breakfast was great, room was small but nice. But we had a consistent problem with our room keys, wouldn’t work, numerous times, staff had to unlock our door several times. They said they changed to a new key system a couple of weeks ago - it seems they don’t have the bugs worked out yet
We were issued the incorrect room type soon arrival. When I noticed the staff, I was told the reservation was taken by someone that no longer worked there, and they could change it to the correct room type for added charges. This was not a solution to me as they had made the mistake, not me. They did correct the room the second night, but that was after my wife went back to talk to them and we suffered through the first night uncomfortable and very little sleep. The rooms are very small and sink is outside of the bathroom, which is not very comfortable when a family is trying to get ready in the morning. I was not impressed with this hotel, and I have stayed at several HIE’s across the country never having these issues.
I booked this hotel for college graduation since we left a day earlier and everything was just great! We booked at another hotel months ago and wish we could stayed here longer and cancel the other, but all hotels on the block were sold out that weekend. I will be back to this hotel for its value and pricing that suited my needs. I would recommend some of the breakfast products to add a little more to the mix. It was a good amount of items, just wished there was a little more to it. Although I was hoping for a room that would have seen the Lake and The city of Rochester circle.
Sink wouldnt drain, so we asked the front desk to take care of it. It was somewhat better when we returned, but the sink had dried remnants of the gross water that was backed up! Front reception area was nice, elevator and hallways were rather seedy. Our night was disturbed by loud men talking and slamming doors all night. When we went to complain at checkout, not one person was around at the front desk.
Stayed three nights last week and was extremely pleased. Room was very comfortable and very clean. It appeared to be recently redone, and the bathroom and sink area were beautiful. Great deal for the money . . . And the staff members were very cordial and helpful, especially those that worked the breakfast. Would return again and recommend in a heartbeat!
Another great stay. I stay here on a weekly basis for business. Great staff and enjoyable accommodations. The rooms are nice, clean, and relaxing. The complimentary breakfast and Concierge lounge for Gold & Platinum members, is a very nice touch.Cons: Need more power outlets in the rooms though, I find it hard getting to convenient power outlets in the rooms. And still no breakfast to-go boxes.
Overall my experience was not that bad. The staff was courteous, and the continental breakfast choices were good as well. My room was clean everyday. The only real issue that I had was the running refrigerator. It kept making a running an ticking noise constantly. I figured I would tough it out the night and let the staff know in the morning. I slept well enough, but it was annoying up to falling asleep. I did notify them in the morning and they said they would have maintenance look at. When I returned to my room, it seemed better, but I could still hear it a bit. By bedtime, it was back to the way it was. I toughed it out one more night and left that day. Next time, I will request a new room.
Nice recently renovated holiday inn Express. The staff has been very helpful, the gentleman at the front desk Ed was great. Rooms are nice and modern and very clean. Channel selection is great, WiFi could be a little faster. I would definitely stay here again if in Rochester.
The bathroom is so tiny that you must stand between the toilet and the shower in order to shut the door and then sit down. The door would not be able to be closed if you were sitting on the toilet as it would collide with your knees even if it was a child. Beds are too firm for my liking and I woke up every hour because of it. The fridge motor rattled all night, although it may not have bothered others, I am just sensitive to sound when sleeping. The staff was VERY nice and super friendly. Great parking right in front of the door. It should be a rule in every hotel that housekeeping not be allowed to knock on your door until AFTER checkout time- grrrr!
We had five ladies staying at your hotel and the experience was wonderful. We had plenty of room to play cards after our bowling tournament. The breakfast area was kept extremely clean. When we needed something, the staff was extremely prompt to get what was needed. Thank you!
Overall room was nice. Bed was comfortable. Liked having the Keurig in the room. Coffee in lobby was hot and good as well. My only issue was it was quite loud with yelling and carrying on the first night. I wasnt comfortable leaving my room and it seems staff would if heard.
Blood stain on the sheets. Smoke billowing in the room on a non-smoking floor (in fact, I think the whole hotel is non-smoking). We called the front desk - said there was nothing they could do so we had to stuff a towel at the base of the door. Electrical boxes pulling out of the wall. It looks like an update was done, but this hotel is tired and needs some attention. Breakfast was as you would expect in a HIE - I am quite familiar with them. And the dryer (free) on site was a life saver. But overall gave us the creeps. Should have been 1/2 the price for the quality.
This comment pertains to the design of the room and has nothing to do with the excellent service we received during our stay. If you are travelling with anyone other than your spouse/significant other or alone, the room setup is absurd. The sink is immediately inside the door so if someone goes out, comes back in, and youre at the sink brushing your teeth or whatever, youd better be fully dressed-no privacy. Also, because of its location, if anyone is still in bed while youre at the sink, the light will prevent them from sleeping. The bathroom (toilet and shower/tub) is barely big enough to turn around in, is not very well lighted, and should be on the opposite side of the room if it has to be separated from the sink. On the plus side, the beds are comfortable, the staff was terrific, and the room was very clean. Thank goodness, no smoking!

2022-05-01Its a very convenient location next to the highway with plenty of restaurants close by. Even though the hotel was almost fully booked, it was quiet and well maintained. The rooms are extremely clean, cozy and comfortable. Fridge, microwave and Keurig machine were provided. Note that there isnt a safe to keep valuables in the room. The breakfast has many options to start the day right. All the staff were inviting and greeted us with a smile. Thank you for the hospitality and keep up the great work!

2022-05-28My wife I just wanted to get away for the weekend and landed at this location. It wasn’t in the downtown costly area, but rather right off the interstate.Appearance, cleanliness, breakfast and amenities were excellent. Room size and decor were updated and modern. Staff, front desk and housekeeping were friendly. Not sure what negative reviews were about but we would definitely stay ahead if in that area again.

2022-02-09Overall experience was ok. Very tight parking lot with minimal snow removal which limited parking even more and no clear path to hotel entrance. Rooms are decent. Bed looked comfortable until you actually sit or lay on it. Hard as a rock and springy. I sat down and got up at the same time. Breakfast is very limited due to their Covid procedures. Menu was pancakes or oatmeal, yogurt or danish…. They fix your plate for you. Stayed only to sleep and was back on the road in the morning. Probably wouldn’t stay there again.

2022-06-21Save your time & money and stay elsewhere.Best part of my stay was the night associate. Didnt catch his name but hes a good guy. Otherwise a lot of disappointment. It gets 2 stars for convenience of the location, otherwise pretty bad. Property is dated with minimal attempt to improve, just a lot of paint on old stuff. Fan in the room is very loud and after talking with a few other guests, it appears to be common. Windows are so poor that you can hear people talking outside 24/7.Most annoying is the fact that Im here for work and I have a device that I need to connect ro the internet to do my work, and I always have to contact the IT support when I stay at any IHG property. However, this property is full of clueless associates, including the manager, that apparently dont have the number to their IT support, so Ill have to do my work at the Hilton tomorrow.

2022-05-09One reason I stay at a hotel is to sleep after a long day of work or driving. The hotel is so close to road with muffllerless trucks and folks who are not aware of speed limits. I would recommend bulldozing the place and moving it back about a mile where its a bit quieter. Will not be returning.

2022-05-17Positive: The room layout was good. The staff at the breakfast area was cheerful, welcoming and helpful. Negative: The bed was hard. There was some nasty brown splatter on the bathroom walls. Nobody changed or cleaned our room during our stay. Whenever we entered the building, there was no staff at the desk...you waited and they wandered out of some space in the back.

2022-05-30Located right off freeway, neighborhood is suspect. Wallpaper is peeling in hallways but room was surprisingly nice. Check in was pleasant and helpful desk staff actually smiled.

2022-03-10Ive traveled all over the U.S. and stayed at multiple Holiday Inns and was never disappointed until now. The staff was wonderful, the room is outdated but the amount of noise was unacceptable. I travel for work and work long hours. I was unable to get any sleep due to the amount of noise and traffic in the hallways all night long. Im pretty certain there were multiple hotel parties going on during my stay.
