This review is for the VA location at Camp Hanover.Lots of fun. I hope that this becomes an annual event. My family really enjoyed it. Some tips for improvement....1. Ground pumpkins are random and take away from the themed displays. Move these to the darker areas of the footpath for illumination and safety. Tree roots were terrible trip hazards and parts of the walkway are pitch dark. Not everyone has a smartphone handy for the flashlight, and a recreational activity that you pay for should at minimum be safe.2. If there is any way to park closer to the entrance/exit, that would be a huge improvement. Older members of our family were winded before we even got there.3. Music matched to the themes of each display would be great.4. It was great for us, but this is so under-advertised, I am afraid it wont repeat due to lack of attendance. More advertising is needed to build the crowd base!5. Learn from the Great Blaze in NY. Get local school-kids to carve pumpkins and add them to your display. All the parents and families would come just to see their kids contributions. :-)Thanks for your efforts. We had a really fun time.
WAY OVERPRICED. We went to the Mechanicsville VA location. It was poorly lit and nobody directing you from the parking lot. It took a good 10 min walk to even get to the area that was the attraction. We walked through it in under 20 minutes. For the money this event costs I would’ve expected WAY more it’s been so long since I’ve been so disappointed. My kids thankfully are young and enjoyed doing something different but I just can’t get over how overpriced this is. $10 a person would be much more reasonable for what it is.
This was a total waste of time. There is not one real pumpkin on the site, no spooky decor, only hundreds of the same type lit up figure in a line down a small walkway. I feel as though they are editing the reviews because everyone we have talked to thought it was a joke, yet there are only good reviews. Also, we were heckled by the people selling donuts and cider repeatedly. Dont waste your money. Will definitely not be returning.
I would honestly give no stars if I could, and I never leave bad reviews. I cant speak for other locations but the one in Plymouth, CT was a huge ripoff. Im actually upset this is the Halloween event we chose for my sons 1st birthday. Its offensive they even take peoples money for this. Theyre plastic pumpkins stuck to cardboard. Actually theyre half pumpkins cause there isnt even a back, just the front half of a pumpkin, made of plastic, stuck to cardboard with lights in them. We brought my 2 older kids with us as well and they couldnt even make out what the pumpkins were supposed to be. I think they were mostly people? With a few monkeys or something? It was so so bad. I wanted to take some cute Halloween pics for my sons 1st birthday and didnt even bother. I cant believe theyd charge anything more than $5 for this honestly.
We visited the Sunshine campus display. Biggest rip off ever. Half of the display was not lit up as they were having electrical issues since the following day, the music was staticky which eventually turned off all together. No one informed us upon entering and taking our tickets that there was a problem, until we were inside and had to ask. Also there was not one real pumpkin they were all carved fake pumpkins. Definitely not worth the 25$ we paid to walk through a dark half lit path. Unless you are under t years old and easily impressed I suggest you don’t waste your time or money.
A group of us went to the Plymouth CT location this past weekend. First off, the woman checking tickets was INCREDIBLY rude. She then boasted about about how she was the director of events, which is incredible she would speak to customers in that manner if so. Their website clearly states masks are encouraged NOT required. Literally, NOT, in all capitals. Instead of apologizing for the confusion when someone in our party didn’t have one handy, she was dismissive and rude. Secondly, these are fake pumpkins nailed to a board and the entire walkthrough was short, underwhelming and not worth the price of admission. At least the security guards were pleasant. There are a lot of fun fall things to do in CT, don’t waste your time on this one.
A fun and safe way to enjoy an evening out. Stroll the fairgrounds and enjoy the lighted pumpkin sculptures, posed in many scenes/themes. The colors are vibrant and the themes are creative. A nice evening walk that you can take at your own pace, while remaining socially distanced. Although a little awkwardly placed (at the start of the walk making it so we had to carry through the whole display) the cider (mulled or cold) and Cider Belly donuts were welcome additions! With so many things cancelled this season, it was nice to have an event to look forward to!
We drove 3 hours from Maryland to the Mechanicsville VA location the weekend of October 9. Although the staff was friendly, we could not figure out what most of the exhibits were supposed to be, the lights were not working in half the displays and the music playing was so loud that the speakers were blown out. Walked through the whole exhibit in less than 10 minutes. No concessions or bathrooms on site. Total waste of time & money. We emailed the Hallowed Harvest people to let them know what we saw, going as far as requesting a refund, but never got a reply. So, weve been had, plain and simple. Dont waste your time with this tourist trap.
If I could give zero stars, I would. The display was underwhelming to put it kindly. The entire thing took us 15 minutes to walk through and that’s only because you had to stop to squint to figure out what the carvings were of. A trip around your own neighborhood looking at decorations would be more exciting than this sham. Not a mask in sight on workers or other attendants. To be fair it was so empty social distancing wasn’t difficult.
I went to the “event”, aka dimly lit undecorated warehouse rooms, in Salem MA. It was just a bunch of styrofoam “pumpkins” on tables. You walked from the first room down a sidewalk to see another room with more styrofoam cutouts and lame “ghost” projections. It took 15 mins tops and that was really stretching out the rooms.Their Instagram photos, the few they actually have of attractions, are misleading. I thought I was spending $20 a pop to walk through the woods and see amazing pumpkin displays (I did a similar thing years back). Instead I paid $80 for a group of 4 to look at styrofoam in a couple of warehouse rooms. I left a comment honestly telling them how disappointed I was and they immediately deleted it. They know full well that this is a tourist trap.I’d highly recommend to stay away from this place. There are undoubtedly many more interesting and non scam Halloween events in MA. For Salem, apparently the monster museum in town is pretty cool.
Went this past Sat evening to Altamont Fairgrounds location.1st the good-the pumpkin carving was impressive, however, lit signs as to what the sculptures are would be helpful in many instances since they were difficult to identifyNow unfortunately the bad!1) very hard to find! Knew where fairgrounds were but had only been in daylight and a long time ago! In dark much tougher! No indication at fairgrounds entrance that there was anything going on. 1 small unlit sign which we missed, when I said something at entrance, the staff said Yeah we hear that all the time2) Once inside, no signs or lights or staff to point you towards where the pumpkins were, dark & creepy but not in a good creepy way3) Boring & expensive for what you got honestly, took 10 min to walk thru even when stopping & taking many pics. Only other activity was a tarot reader(pay extra) & could but cold or hot apple cider, THATS IT! Paid $58 for me & my 2 nephews, what a rip-off! Could have had more activities... haunted house in those creepy barns, dressed up staff jumping out(maybe later when little kids wouldnt go), other activities, ice cream or other treats... anything!!!! Was kind of like Light in Park at Christmas but without any of other fun activities.4) Unfortunately per my nephews(who dont like scary stuff which is why we went here!- EPIC FAIL!!!
Went to the one in Salem MA. Super underwhelming and not worth $20. The pumpkins were just styrofoam and were placed on black boxes of various heights. The designs were pretty boring and looked like the generic designs you would find in a store bought carving book. I was also expecting more than just 2 small rooms, it takes about 5 minutes for each room. Save your money and go to the art museum or do a haunted tour instead. The only upside was the very kind staff.
I was expecting more of a fair-like atmosphere with the name and the price of admission.. 20$/adult is waaaay too expensive to just see some jack-o-lantern displays along a race track🙄 I think this display would be much better as part of another event/festival than a standalone thing. I feel ripped off.. 5$ would be fine, 10$ with some concessions and other activities would also be fine, wth is 20$?! Will not be doing this again.
I went with my two girlfriends. It was advertised as “spectacular”. I wouldn’t go that far. While we all agreed a lot of work went into the displays, we couldn’t make out what many of them were supposed to be. Half way through everything started to look the same. It was worth going to one time but not again. It wasn’t nearly as good as it was hyped up to be.
We went last year and the whole site was filled with pumpkins and was amazing. Went this year and there was nothing compared to last year and a lot do the carving gs were not distinguishable at all. Will not be going to again. Raised prices and the experience was bad. Workers were friendly but experience not as expected as prior years.
So disappointed. Fake pumpkins, half lit, nailed to boards. As an adult it was difficult to guess what they were supposed to be, a child would have no idea. There was no music. Lighting on the pathways were minimal to say the least. It was a pricey for what it was. Would not recommend it to anyone.
Dont waste your time and money. We went to the Rush NY Hollowed Harvest on a night when the lights and music werent working. Workers told us to email for a refund as this was an ongoing problem. No response from email and no answer after 3 calls. We basically walked a dark path for 10 minutes. Youll have more fun walking in your yard with a flashlight.
The pumpkins were amazing. Bathrooms throughout the walk would be nice since there are a lot of small children there. Also some lights at the end of the exhibit would be nice. It was very hard to see where you were walking due to the darkness. The cider and donuts are a good idea but it was not moving fast enough, big buildup of people. Overall good time.
We’ve been to a number of Halloween pumpkin displays like this, and hallowed harvest was by far the worst. There was no signage to direct us from the main road to the parking. The employees were wearing all black so they were hard to see in the dark and when driving. The displays were lack luster, all foam pumpkins and no real ones. We were there on the second night and many pumpkins were already broken and lights were out. The sound system was blown out and annoying. The employees were more focused on grouping and talking than enforcing the mask and social distancing rules. The price was far too high for what the event had to offer. When leaving there was no signage directing us out of the parking area, and we got lost in the fair grounds. Would not recommend, it’s really a shame because this could have been so good, there was such potential here. We will not be recommending or going back.
Meh, I would not go back. It was fun to see but not worth the cost. Over $60 for two adults with a 5 year old. The paths were not light up which would have been nice, a little LED or Christmas light path since it gravel and dirt. The music was too loud. People were not wearing masks going through and not keeping 6 ft away. People were very vocal about their unhappiness, if you stopped to take a picture, rude words were said often. But the pumpkins were nicely carved and light up. Some of the pumpkins were already fallen apart early into the harvest.
My family appreciated the outdoor family-friendly event but we found the experience very lackluster. My kids are 8 and 9 and this was very boring for them. Especially when we realized that the pumpkins are ALL styrofoam. I guess we were expecting that at least some would be real. It was just a mono-tone walk through event. For $80 for my 4-person family- not impressed.
The experience was good, the kids loved it. We drove about an hour to the hallowed harvest. They were great about keeping social distance during the walkthrough, the line to get in was quite a wait though. Temperature checks at admission, and friendly workers. Wish there was more vendors, there was cider donuts with a long line but that’s all. Good sticks for the kids for sale would’ve been a neat addition in my opinion. Thanks for a fun evening Hallowed Harvest!
Went to Plymouth CT location thought it was very short and was super disappointed to see they were fake pumpkins. Not worth the cost of tickets. Also one of my kids got sick last minute and they would not allow me to upgrade to VIP or refuny money. Dont waste your time or money on this event!
I attended the Hollowed Harvest the Monday before Halloween with my son, daughter in law and 9 month old grandchild. It was a lot of fun looking at all the lighted sculptures and jack o’lanterns. The walking was easy, and they played music for the season, but nothing at all scary. The only thing I would have brought was a small flashlight, as the paths were dark. I also would have liked to see more vendors selling food, but that was okay.
Great evening out. Thought there would be at least a couple food concessions but there was only a Cider Belly Donut stand. Although the donuts were very good, the event advertising implied that other food would be available. The group I was with expected to eat there prior to the walk thru. Otherwise, the pumpkin light show was fantastic. Enjoyable for all ages.
Warm Apple Cider and donuts to have while walking around was definitely a plus with the chill of the night! An YES we kept our distance especially in between small sips 👻🎃Edit from early: Temperature checks were given, as well as clear directions to both enter and exit the light display. We were also warned prior that the walkway was slippery due to the rain. I say y’all did a wonderful job to try and get people into the Halloween spirit!!
This is an actual scam. These are not real pumpkins. They are styrofoam pumpkins mass manufactured by a factory in Rhode Island. Not an ounce of care was put into the design. Not an iota of genuine artistry in the entire display. This is a cynical cash grab, plain and simple. Do not fill the pockets of whatever grifter came up with this garbage. For real.
My 3 year old really enjoyed it, my 21 month old could have taken it or left it. We went at 7:00 and there was a little bit of a line at the start, but it quickly started moving along. Exhibits were spaced out and we were easily able to social distance from other guests. Thought that it was a little bit expensive for the duration of the walk, if it were cheaper we would definitely re-visit this season.
Excellent experience for the whole family! Older family members were entertained trying to figure out what each display depicted and younger children were enthralled by the lights! It was so awesome we even went twice! The only thing that would have made it even better would have been to have vendors selling things, but with COVID I understand that was not possible and am told they will probably have vendors next year. Definitely a MUST SEE!
Really found this type of event pretty intriguing. Lots of amazing work and skill put into it. Pumpkin carving at its best. Im sure if covid wasnt an issue, their would have food vendors and crafters of Halloween just the like. Lets hope for this next year coming to be something like that. Either way, Im in. Respectively, Don1
Safety is hit-or-miss. Sunday evening they allowed a large line to form and folks were not social distancing and there was no staff direction or instruction until after waiting for a considerable time over a couple hundred yards of packed anxiety-attack-invoking line. After the ticket both it was moderately safe. People still showed surprisingly little regard for staying 6ft apart.Maybe after the pandemic it would only be a mild rip-off ($20 for Christmas lights in fake pumpkins and one over crowded food vendor) but now its a downright bad idea.
This was such a great, and safe event during a stressful time! Workers were extremely friendly, and the lights are absolutely beautiful! Its a like a Christmas walk in the park but for Halloween with Pumpkins! Im excited to see this event get bigger and better, I hope it continues!
Something to do during these crazy times. Awesome how the artisans created the sculptures. Many made it difficult to appreciate the pumpkin aspect; appeared to be more structure than pumpkin. Fun but not as magical that Christmas displays. Not certain that I will need to do this again.
We brought our daughter as a special surprise on her 4th birthday and she absolutely loved it!!! Everything was very well organized, and Covid protocols were enforced. The only criticism is that there were no directions/signs on how to leave the parking lot to get out at the end (we ended up almost in the woods because we followed the one way signs and then had to turn around).
It was just OKAY. The pumpkins were not real and you cannot get very close to anything. We showed up 40 minutes early as the website said to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled time. We were told upon arrival that no one can enter until 7PM and they don’t know why it was posted that way. So many parents and children waited in line while it was 40-50 degrees out. It was about a half mile long and you can only go one direction. Unfortunately , due to Covid some of these things may be out of their hands. But it was alright. $20 seems steep per person for what the event was.
*Please note this is not a drive thru event. I attempted to take my elderly mother to this event and pre paid for tickets. When I arrived, there was horrible lighting and signage, and a muddy parking lot. Furthermore I inquired about a refund as my mother couldn’t walk through. When I messaged the staff on FB to inquire about a refund. They said it is clearly stated that the event is a walkthrough and refused my refund. I explained I was disappointed and I didn’t see it clearly stated anywhere on there website. The staff replied too bad and sent me smiley emojis. They are obnoxious and bad business people. When I went back and looked through their site, it does say there is no refund and that it is a walkthrough in their Covid policy. Do not give these people your money. They are pathetic and can keep my money, but don’t give them yours. I will be reporting their devious business practices to the better business bureau.
HUGE disappointment! Have been wanting to go to this since August, and it was terrible. They weren’t even real pumpkins! I understand real pumpkins rot but at least try and make it look real or don’t advertise over 7000 Jack-o-lanterns when they’re just foam. It was so expensive for a 15 minute walk around the fair ground of string lit styrofoam pumpkins. I appreciate all the COVID rules but I do not understand how you can get apple cider and doughnuts at the beginning but you’re not supposed to take your mask off so how can you eat your doughnuts? Should be offered at the end in area you can sit down and take your mask off. On the website it says arrive early for “concessions and shopping” but there is no such thing. All around disappointment. No Halloween decorations, no lit pathways or signage on where to go. Let down.
I will give this a FAIR shakedown. First, I really feel for them because their first year happened during our collective hellyear. The staff was really nice. I was disappointed that the pumpkins werent real (the event says Jack o lanterns and they do deliver), but that makes total sense because the event runs for sooooo long so 🤷♀️ Im willing to overlook that because otherwise its just not logical. It was really cute and the alien themed jack o lanterns were great.I will give this another year visit, because its cute and got me outside.Things I would like to see to draw me next year: more vendors. I want to get my spooky shopping done, theres plenty of space! Im giving it a pass this year because *gestures broadly*. Another thing would be real pumpkins interspersed in. I would love to see your staff creations, that would be hilarious. A vendor selling pre-carved pumpkons towards the October season would make money for you, no doubt!Overall, nice. Will visit again.
An actual Halloween nightmare. If abhorrent customer service, lack of social distancing, and unsafe weather conditions are your idea of fun, please come spend $20 a ticket on the biggest joke of a light display youve ever seen in your life. I wish I could rate this event zero stars.False promises of vendors that were never there, fake carved plastic pumpkins, rude and self serving staff...unreal. Absolutely unreal.
This was a fun experience-a lot of cool displays and lighting which was easy to navigate and enjoy. The staff were all very helpful in explaining tot layout and things to see as well as performing safety duties for spacing and safe access during Covid conditions.I would not hesitate to recommend this as a fun and enjoyable Halloween outing for kids of ALL ages(I am 68!!)

2020-10-16This was a fun, relatively short (but not too short) excursion with the kids that pleasantly surprised us. It took about 45min to walk through the display, and we never felt crowded or rushed. The displays were bright and really well done, and COVID safety precautions were in effect and monitored. The nature of the event (outside and ticketed, and laid out on a long track) kept things safe and also made for a nice walk. Really glad we gave this event a try. The kids loved it.

2020-10-31Being their first year i believe there is plenty of room for growth & positive changes. Overall enjoyable experience especially being a walk through vs drive through like other pumpkin attractions. The lack of signs & direction entering & leaving made things slightly confusing & wish their was more vendors for food & or drinks. Hope to go again next year with hopefully some changes being made.

2021-10-26I’ve gone to this for the past two years and have enjoyed it both years.Last year I thought it was a drive through, but I’m honestly glad it gave me the opportunity to get up and walk around. The pumpkin scenes are really fun and the music sets the tone. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming and it looks like everyone there is enjoying being there, even if it is to work.I do wish they would add more scenes as some spots are just dark walkways. All in all, a fun time. Take your family. It’s cute and not super scary.

2020-10-19I cant believe I took this photo in New York during a pandemic. WAY too many people and patrons were only distancing near the ticket booth (the only place they had some lines of tape). They did not take our temperature like the website states. Also a huge lack of signs to find the event in the fairgrounds. Displays were neat but NOT worth the risk. Either buy a ticket for the latest time possible or avoid this completely. Also this photo only shows HALF of the line, and you cant even see the ticket booth either.

2021-10-25It was cute and I really appreciated that it was not scary. Loved the free parking and the ability to purchase apple cider, popcorn and donuts. I just thought $20.00 a ticket for adults and $16.00 for kids was high. $10.00 would have been a more appropriate price. It took us maybe 45 minutes to walk the road, and we walked really slow. Just not enough bang for the buck for the $128.00 we paid for tickets.

2021-10-27My kids and I loved it! It was a lot of fun. A magical walkthrough Halloween display. All staff we encountered were SO friendly! From the ones helping with parking, to the ones checking tickets, to the ones at the very end making sure you knew where to go to get back to your car. The only sad part was that it ended. Looking forward to making this a yearly tradition.

2021-10-29WASTE OF MONEY. We went to Niagara County location outside of Buffalo. Tickets state event opens at 5pm. Got there around 5:45 and were told they weren’t opening up until 6:30 because it needs to be dark. (I guess they couldn’t crack the code on when the sun was going to set and planning accordingly) Having driven 45 minutes to get there we ended up killing time. Should have just turned around. Not a real pumpkin on site. Had legit no idea what the fake pumpkin sculptures were supposed to be for 90% of the walk. There were speakers BLASTING spooky music all over the display, but the speakers were all completely blown out and rattling. We were told the vendors stopped showing up (hmmm wonder why?) so no food or drink on site. The final 100 feet is lined with single “pumpkins “ and they had the following designs: a camel, the letter “M”, a dog, squiggly lines, the letter “I”, a Dino, a sugar skull, another letter “m”, more squiggly lines. The carved pumpkins are not even intricate designs. Just a cookie cutter shape cut out. I’m still so mad!!!! 👎🏻

2021-11-16Overall a cool event good for most ages and not too long. Easy enough to walk through with wheelchair or strollers although they will get a bit messy. Some of the pumpkins are repeat and it would be nice to see a flamingo carving!

2021-10-26Tons of fun! Staff at the beginning and end were very kind and the trail you take at your own pace by yourselves which was great. We brought our six month old and were worried about it being too bumpy for the stroller, but it was totally fine! It was an awesome experience!

2021-10-24No one in our group could even believe how bad this was. We all walked through the “attraction” in less than 10 minutes. Fake pumpkins with cheap LED lights inside them. Each display represented something completely random if you could even tell what it was. The adults were left wondering where the actual display was and the children were confused why their parents brought them to a place with nothing to do or look at. One could build this entire display for about $1000. Looking at halloween displays on YouTube would be far more entertaining. All that was harvested was our money. It’s spooky how bad this was.
