Went here yesterday. The food was ok. The older woman minding the register had a lot of attitude. Never said a word but just looked really annoyed with everyone the whole time. Her face was like take it or leave it. Did not greet us when we came in or when we left. Could care less about having customers. The waitress was rushed and not completely friendly. Soon realized it was the end of her shift. The replacement was much much nicer. Food was just okay.
Ill start by saying the food was good and the service was quick and polite but:1) A lady started her shift by the counter and started cleaning her sweat with paper towels infront of everyone, including down her shirt and back, to make things worse, she never washed her hands!! It was disgusting.2) Ive been to a dozen dive bars in NYC and this is still the most disgusting bathroom Ive seen.I will NEVER go back there
There are LOTS of great diners in NYC, and this is NOT one of them. The Reuben was … not even a Reuben, forget it. The service was prompt and the place was clean, so no complaints there. But in NYC, there are so many GREAT places to eat, this place is a wasted meal/money.
We got sat next to the garbage and had to swat so many flies away. It was gross. But the staff is friendly and the food is okay. I just took stats off because of the flies and the text the baby chair was brought to us dirty. I wiped it down with my own wipes but they should clean this stuff before giving it out.
Surprisingly good food and service. Was a little wary because of the previous reviews but the waffles and bagels with lox we ordered were good. The service was nice. They were attentive and was available when we needed them. It gets crowded by locals. Great location. Easy to get to!
This place has fallen in quality. The food that was cheap is no expensive. The now expensive places food is not good. The staff of waiters only speak Spanish and make a lot of mistakes and move slowly. O guess now that so many other diners have closed they can be this way as their are very few other options in the hood
Sunday brunch, Ordered Eggs Benedict was so in the mood for that, what a disappointment, the hollandaise sauce was too thick no flavor and too orange in color. Was so disappointed that the mimosas was to watered down. The rest of my company said that it was an average and below. I can say a good thing about our waiter even though it was busy he stayed calm and collected. Sorry dont thing Ill go there again for brunch. 😕😞
Solid diner with solid diner selections. This place used to feel too crowded, but with Covid indoors now feels much more spacious! Plus they have a huge Covid shack now too.Same great food as before. Service is speedy, if somewhat chaotic. Just a gem of a diner that Im to see survived Covid and came out stronger on the other side
I ordered the Alfredo pasta…Bland bland and did I forget to say bland. I don’t even think I seen pepper. I took 2-3 bites and unfortunately had to throw it away. For the amount of money they charge I was better off buying a jar of Prego’s Alfredo sauce and throwing it over some ramen noodles and paid $6 instead of $25. Horrible I do not recommend this place at all.
To me its just like a movie critic who downgrades Fast and Furious Six because it didnt have a stronger romantic storyline. One look at this place either on anyone of the numerous apps or in person and you should immediately pick up that this place is a diner! When I looked at all the other area breakfast and brunch options I could tell the food would be more artisan than functional. More of an culinary experience than just a meal.I was expecting diner quality food, lets say, something like 1.5 steps above Dennys or IHOP (IHOB.maybe now) you know what; I got exactly what I was expecting. They greated me as soon as I came in.They noticed when my coffee was low and filled it. They noticed my table was sticky and they fixed it. They handled my special order variance to my brunch, spot on.It was also fun to see the number of pick up - To Go orders that were cranked out of this place. Both third party food delivery services and plain old normal folk coming in to pick up an order to go.So...to all those two star reviewers I say What were you expecting when you were presented with the visual evidence of the place and where did it deliver something....less?I felt very comfortable sitting here in my shorts and tennis shoes and looking at many other of the options in the area Im not sure I would have felt they same at anyone of the others
Ordered Belgian Waffles with fruit salat and got waffles with fruits instead my order. Husband ordered tiramisu and they give him cake with MOLD. Never back. Be careful they don’t worry about quality. Check your food here before when you start to eating something here.
The very very worst restaurant I’ve ever been to. My boyfriend and I went and ordered a margarita and an iced tea for myself as I’m pregnant and can’t drink ofc, gave my boyfriend a huge problem w his id even took it to the backFor whatever reason. They very reluctantly have him the drink and practically stood over us the whole meal. I wish I could give a zero rating
We didnt come to this diner very often while Good Stuff was open, but I have to admit, the food is better here. Theyve done outdoor dining very well, especially since adding the additional seating in the street. (Though the heat lamps dont always work there.) Food arrives hot, and its tasty. The menu is enormous, so theres lots to choose from. The staff arent as attentive as they could be, but if you ask for what you need, it (usually) arrives.
Its a NYC diner with an expensive name. Food smelled great but was lacking in seasoning... Reuben Platter and Chicken Salad Club, Caprese. Service was nice and prompt though forgot some things asked for and received things we didnt ask for... Dont think Id be back unless really hungry... but there are a dozen places next to it that might be better... There are good diners in NYC though... If your into lighter seasoned food, perhaps is great. It was not by far the worst...
This place was the shiznit. Everything you want in a New York diner. Open late or open early. Full breakfast menu any time of the day. I ordered the turkey club which was dry to my taste. I also ordered the eggs Benedict with turkey bacon which was spot on delicious. I actually went back for the Eggs Benedict they were so good.
Hollywood diner has the BEST pancakes in New York. Light fluffy absolutely fantastic trust me there is no better. ihop doesn’t come close. You can try pancakes anywhere but trust me Hollywood diner’s pancakes will win the prize. Excellent❤️🏆🥇🥈🥉🏅🎖⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great food and great service as well I highly recommend it.
I stopped in for a takeout dinner. I ordered the shrimp wrap with crabmeat. I am from Baltimore and I know crabmeat. The shrimp wrap didnt have any crabmeat near it. However, the shrimp was large compared to other places. I know its a diner but, you shouldnt advertise something that you dont have.
Been eating here for over 30 years. Food is more than decent, huge portions and the best pea soup in town. (Thursdays only)Prices are a little high for a diner, but the rents in our neighborhood are insane.I love watching how they take care of their elderly customers and parents with kids...tons of patience.Regulars and strangers alike are treated like family. What more could you ask for?
Im awed a diner can still operate in Manhattan with the pandemic restrictions in place. They still offer a full menu, we sat outside, in a tented area, a little disconcerting due to the proximity of the adjacent bus 🚌 lane and heavy flow of traffic. But my Corona beau and I had a delightful meal. He went full diner, hamburger, onion rings and Vanilla milk shake. My choices baked potato, with cheese and bacon and a side of big plate of broccoli 🥦. Was just what I was craving. Staff was both friendly and super efficient. Perfect Sunday afternoon meal. Was still full that evening, I didnt need to eat dinner.
I go to breakfast here fairly frequently because its right where I exit the subway and I like to decompress a bit before I go to work. I have eggs, etc typical breakfasts. Its OK. Not horrible. Not mind-blowing. The decor is OK though a little dated. Theyre on the corner and have full floor-to-ceiling windows so the view is nice. They also have outdoor seating but Ive never used it. All in all just your average everyday diner for breakfast. If I ever eat lunch here I will re-review.
This was just about the worst restuarant experience I have ever had. If I could give a 0 I would. The food was completely overpriced for quality of the food. I order a chicken pesto panni. It served on some kind of pita and had literally 2 piece of spinach on it when I asked for more the manager or owner said thats the way it comes...for $18 it should have a good amount of spinach. You would have better food from McDonalds for half the price. Dont waste your money! Not only is the food terrible the service is worse. Our waiter didnt even bring water and I had to get up to go the bar to get water and you must ask for straw as the glass was not clean. Other guests at my table were higher disappointed. Cheeseburger deluxe doesnt even come with lettuce and tomato. These should be staples. End of story....DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!
I’ve stopped here a few time, when I come to town, and I can honestly say that I’ve never been disappointed.Everything from the service to the actual meal has been on point and what I would expect from any diner or restaurant.I definitely recommend stopping by if and when you are in town.
Visited during a really busy time in NYC abc this place was slammed. The staff did their best to get my sizable party in as quickly as they could. We had to move around which caused some confusion between staff and maybe a little attitude. I had a salad, it was great. There were a couple guys in my group that ordered burgers and were literally given a patty on a bun with no lettuce or tomato (had to be ordered separately I guess??!!) Which is why Im giving 3 stars.
Stopped in with some friends for a late night drink/snack. I had their margarita and french fries; both were great and reasonably priced (one of the best margaritas for that price Ive had in Manhattan). They accommodated a larger group and split our checks without a problem. The space was cute and I would definitely go back to check out more of their options.
Its a great place to eat in Manhattan. Ive been going here for years and tried a multitude of dishes in their menu. A lot of it is great. My personal favorite dishes is thd Ruben sandwich and their deluxe cheese burgers. They are really the only dishes that stood out for me from what I recall, every other dish was fine.In the front of the place they have a mini bar which I never tried but they have a large variety of drinks. When it comes to seating they have enough rooms and tables to host about 60+ people including inside and the outside patios. A decent meal should cozt around $14 -$30 depending on what you get of course. I highly recommend this place if you are hungry and it doesnt take long to get seated here. Great place for a date!
Good food and service. Pricey though and it’s not for any extra bells or whistles. This place gets really really packed because of the neighborhood and it’s popularity. But I definitely recommend it if you are there and some booths are open. Serves alcohol as well (but limited)
Food is quite good, the French onion soup is top notch, close to the one served in Paris (and believe me, I tried both). Prices are not too high. The spaces on the sofa tables are a bit tight, and selection of beer and wine is quite limited. Nonetheless, a worthy place.
I recently came into the city to take in a show. My party and myself stopped here for late night bite of food. The service here is not very nice. The waiter comes to the table sits down 4 glasses of water for our table at the next table and then walks away,as if we are supposed to reach over and grab the glasses of water and serve ourselves. After a couple of minutes informed my parties that were with me, that I was not going to spend one penny in this establishment. Just horrible service!!!!!
From my first experience there I would have given it more stars maybe 4. The food was good, cooked correctly people were nice and then I went to work. I work overnight and it was getting difficult for me to stay awake so I ordered two big cups of black coffee and a soup. Beef barley I believe it was. I work right down the street. You dont even have to cross a major street to get to me and yet it took forever to get my order. The coffees were hot. Great! The soup that I was hoping for would be hot. It was cold!!! In the middle of the night when its cold they brought me cold soup! I had no microwave to heat up. That soup completely ruined my night. Sitting in a draft in the cold. Who in their right mind would serve cold soup in the middle of the night in 30 to 40 degree weather? It really pissed me off. I dont believe Ill order from there again.
Service was decent, but the food kinda sucked. I ordered an omelette, added carmelized onions, got regular onions. Opted from home fries and it was more like a home mashed potato. Food was straight up seasonless. My fries were literally mushy, everything needed seasoning.
Cleanest bathroom in NYC (that I used) comfortable, roomy, atmosphere. The Greek lady who works the register is great. Got a burger, chicken quesadilla, and stuffed peppers, thats a great variety for one restaurant and it all tasted great! Highly recommend. Only rated 4 stars because the drink menu was incredibly small. (Only 4 pop choices) so you end up drinking water. But overall a very pleasant experience.
I had the burger here, which ended up being quite bland, though the fries are good and have a nice bite to them. Most other options on the menu are pretty overpriced. If you live in the area, I can think of two reasons to come here: (1) its probably a fine place to have a drink and catch up with a friend in the outside seating area, and (2) you and your friends partied in Chelsea and got some late night hungies. Other than that, Id probably skip it. There isnt even any kitschy diner decor for you to enjoy.
Really rude manager/owner. The waitress was lovely but I waited for more than 20 minutes to pay my bill because he couldnt get his card machine to work. Offered no solution other than charging my card in my absence. Such unnecessary aggression.... sent my daughter outside the establishment so she wouldnt have to witness her mother fighting with such an arrogant ass.Wont be going back.
Was not happy at all... Work around the corner thought it would be a nice idea to grab a bite. Order did not come out as Wanted. Fish is horrible Im disappointed. After reading the reviews its the total opposite. Wont go again not my taste of food not too sure why this place is so popular.
With no IHOP in the area, Hollywood Diner offers quality diner food at prices unsurprising by NYC standards. Their Early Bird Specials are especially good deals, with a large amount of food. The service is speedy and the cleanliness is decent though not extraordinary. Its a diner, so the atmosphere is cheesy (dont expect anything close to a posh Hollywood restaurant experience). The one offering that is a little disappointing to me are their hamburgers, as I wish they had more of a flame-broiled taste. I like their pancakes, waffles, pasta choices and desserts.
I really do not see what makes this place special or even satisfactory. Coffee was mediocre. Food is baseline; and really, this is Chelsea: have real maple syrup. People will pay for it and not have that generic corn syrup flavoring. Whats good: staff are kind. Its not their fault the place is managed with little effort.
I am so disappointed with this diner. I believed that for many years this was the diner to go to before shopping on 5avenue and 6avenue. However, that was not the case this evening for my family and I.What’s interesting is that I didn’t feel good vibes as soon as we walked over to the table we wished to sit. There was a family member already seated, one of the waiters were entertaining her until we arrived. The waiter was told by another waiter he was talking to much. Very disrespectful. I thought: No way! There were series of disrespectful moments that I wish I could speak to the manager about but of course I believe the manager himself is disrespectful. I am a wonderful tipper. In fact, I often tip more than 20 percent in restaurants if the service is decent; and much, much more if the service is above average. (I tip the hairstylist who does my hair over 50 percent because I thank heavens that someone can manage my kinky hair) The rudeness , disrespectful comments between the waiters, and the body language towards my table. Demanded no proper tip. I wasn’t going to write a review because we had already left less than 15 percent tip but this diner derseved that and more. Perhaps, they should be placed on the LIST OF VANISHING NYC DINERS. many Thoughts of why they could have been treating us in such way could it have been racism? Judging us as soon as we stepped into the diner? Maybe its just pure evil and laziness. refusing to serve customers with respect. Guess I’ll never get an answer.DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE!!!
Normally, it has had good delivery, but the latest one was very rude and did not take care of the food at all. He didnt read directions, then got angry when he wasnt able to find the place. I put very specific directions on how to find my apartment and the delivery man clearly didnt read them then got angry on the phone when it took him longer to find it. When I finally got the food from the angry man, it was messy and clearly not taken care of. I dont normally write reviews but his attitude and the quality of his delivery compelled me to write this. Again, normally they are fine but this delivery man was awful.
Getting disappointed with this restaurant. Very hit or miss service when ordering on Seamless & I order from here alot. I know today is a holiday but they need to get their act together. Order placed almost 2 hours ago now was supposed to be here 1 hour ago. It just arrived & all of it is cold. Called restaurant three times, was put on hold first time & no one came back to the phone. 2nd time was hung up on & 3rd greeting by a very rude man who seemed rushed in a hurry & did not know my order or address. Guess not surprising though people working in restaurants on holidays are typically incompetent. Not ordering from here again for awhile.
This is a totally standard diner that has probably been around so long because its not far from shops that drain every last bit of energy from you. That being said, Ive been here on two occasions and havent been impressed, but clearly, Ive gone back and would again if I was starving and wanted to choose from a HUGE menu!
The chicken wings didnt come with the sauce I was expecting. My wifes Caesar salad had an unusual dressing that wasnt quite correct for this salad! When the waiter brought over my plate he managed to slide the fries onto the table. One star for the friendly talk with the waiter later on after apologising for the earlier incident.
I normally go there at night and I have been going there back ten years when the nearby gay club of Splash would drag me in for one more drink, hangover breakfast, or simply to relieve my bladder. Over the years these guys took an interest in me like with all their customers and today after 10 years of living in NYC it is the one place away from home where I feel the most comfortable.Something very rare in NYC! Great personable attentive service that does not rush you out the door like all other NYC establishment. They understand and able to talk to all walks of life. New York needs more places like this, where the people love their jobs and it shows. I love those night crew men who night after night deliver service with a smile.
Diners are dying in NYC they say. Thats sad, but you sort of understand that the original idea (cheap food fast) was hijacked by McDs and others. Now diners are local hangouts, but dont try that here on a busy day, as you will get the message that if you are done with that last bite, its time to move on. Food so-so. Order almost right. Regular coffee ok by NYC diner standards (a low bar)
FAIRLY PRICED BURGERS THAT YOU CAN GET COOKED TO PERFECTION AT ANYTIME OF THE DAY OR NIGHT.THE STAFF WAS WELCOMING AND EVEN GAVE ME A COURTESY CHARGE OF MY CELL PHONE FOR THE DURATION OF MY TIME THERE,WHILE I WAS EATING.KUDOS TO THEM FOR GREAT BURGERS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Was down the street for the WFMU record fair, and needed some nourishment. Skeptical due to the name, and the craziness of the staff running around, but willing to give it a try.The food delivery was fast, and overall ok - the home fries were nasty, but the omelet was ok & how can you screw up toast? Sure, $11 seemed a bit much for brunch - but it is NYC.
Food was alright but customer service was not good the delivery man asked for a tip and stormed out and stated rude words to me because I didnt give him one. The receptionist or who ever picked up the phn argued with me about nothing and then hung up on me I mean I spent 65$ there and i received poor customer service

2022-05-02Was in NYC and was look for a good breakfast and I truly found it. The service was friendly and fast. The food came out hot and fresh. They serve the big link sausages, made the potatoes the way I like it. I had a veggie omelette and added cheddar cheese. It is much better than Johnny’s! So if your in the neighborhood and hungry for a good breakfast stop by Hollywood diner Angie a great meal!

2022-03-24Their buffalo wings were not buffalo wings, so I was very disappointed. The California chicken open sandwich was not good either. The pita bread was rough, the chicken barely seasoned, and just overall the flavour very poor.Lovely man serving got the rating to 2 stars, but the food I received was poor.

2022-08-13Exactly what you want and expect from a NY diner. Very relaxed and chill, a huge menu and everything exactly as you expect. It’s right next to the subway station so it’s super convenient to get to, right by all the large shops on 6th (container store, Michaels, tj maxx, bb&b, etc) so you can fuel up here before or after you shop. The Reuben was the best one I’ve had in the city so far— the corned beef melts in your mouth and the bread was perfectly toasted. AND served with a huge side of Russian dressing so you can indulge. The burger was also good and juicy and cooked perfectly as ordered. The fries were good and the only thing that could have made them better was if they were crinkle cut!! :) All in all great diner and can’t wait to go back.

2022-08-12I was amazed at the quality of food. I ordered the pancakes and breakfast burrito. Hands down one of the best spots to grab breakfast food.

2021-09-06It’s a busy place but they are very friendly and nice. And vegetables are very fresh and it’s very delicious. Their gyro was better than a greek restaurant that i’ve been before. 😅 and this place open 24/7 i think i went there like 12:00am-1:00am but they were open and there were people so it was very safe and nice.I recommend :)

2022-04-17Hot cocoa made with water a day powder. Wine not a full glass for over priced Merlot. Typical poorly upkept diner.

2021-11-06Nice place to dine in, we ordered two burgers, they weren’t impressive. Moreover, they forgot about my beverage. Place wasn’t busy.

2022-06-16I come here often and like them a lot. Today I got the fish and chips and it was unedible. I raised my concerns to the waiter who provided no sympathy.I will be sticking to waffles and eggs going forward.
