Hometown Heros. Fantastic. Their macaroni and potatoe salad were superb.Recommed highly for a party.
Ordered Italian stallion and it was awful. Theyre supposed to toss chicken in dressing instead cover my bread in Italian dressing before adding chicken. Soggy and wet, falling apart and disgusting. Tator tots were cold by the time we got or food and chicken tenders were rubber like they were microwaved. NEVER AGAIN!!!
The BEST hero I’ve ever had in my life, and the best part is every single time I’ve order from here no matter what time of the day it is my food comes out the same way every single time and it’s perfect every single time. I’ve had bad experiences at other restaurants/ delis where certain times of the day, or days of the week they must have a different cook because it didn’t taste the same and was a let down. This place is never ever a let down!!
The absolute best hero I have had since the 1980s. I ordered a roast beef hero with “on “the works“ the freshest bread and perfect combination of seasoning. I know where I will be sending my families and friends to get their sandwiches In the future going forward. Great job to the owner Diane! Keep up the fantastic work!
Pretty good little sandwich shop. They make a good 3 foot hero for parties as well. They ll make your sandwich anyway you like and there is a good choice of toppings. Nice local spot... Time to support our local businesses!! Keep the American Spirit Alive!!

If I could give this places a 0 stars I would they messed up my order so bad I got a southwest avocado salad and they didn’t put the avocado, literally the main ingredient of the salad. My hero was cold and wasn’t that tasty. They forgot to give me utensils I had to eat the salad with my hands.. I placed my mobile order 15 mins before and I got there and they made me wait like 20 mins, how does that make sense. Their employees need better training. Bad experience after all. Never coming here again
Healthy portions. Bring your appetite or an army of heavy hitters. Close your eyes, pick a sandwich, theyre all winners. If youre in a rush call in your order, it gets busy around lunchtime. Great value!
Small local spot selling top notch heros and wraps. Some seating inside with a small parking lot. Friendly staff with quite a decent range of heros and wraps to suit all tastes. My hero was well packed tasty and enough to satisfy and I walked in hungry, my wife had a wrap which was more modest and she struggled to finish. Also had a good range of sodas.Not wheelchair accessible.
Ordered through DoorDash a chef salad and avocado on the side. Order came, no avocado. Called, and the lady explained to me there was no fresh avocado and was going to refund me for the side. Might not seem like a big deal to most, but it is because most places would’ve just gave it to the customer. Thanks for the quality check and the food was delicious.
Hometown Heros has a wide range of choices. The chicken cutlet is the best prepared I have tasted in a hero shop.Tuna here is great. There specialty heros are top notch.Its in West Islip try it you will love it.
Wish this place was more popular. Today is June 28 2018. About 725pm. Just got my hero. Whoever made this godly sandwich deserves a big fat raise. A true master of the craft. Thank you. And the food was ready at the exact time to the minute it said it would be done. Give the staff a raise for being awesome.
1/2 Lighthouse had almost no chicken1/2 BLT was a mouthful of lettuceCob salad +grilled chicken..hardly any chickenLived in WI for years just never got around to trying this joint. Everyone raves!!Totally over rated.A nice day, “get out of the house”, try to support the local guy... $40+ for 2 weak 1/2 sandwiches and a grossly overpriced salad and a couple of drinks ..... sitting at the Babylon Dock wondering how I’m going to eat this salad because ......NO UTENSILES IN THE BAG!!!! Basic error!!!Prob never go back.
Went here on my break between trains. Walked there doors open at 10am. Ordered immediately, ordered a very simple egg sandwich knowing I had to be back by 10:20. I had to walk out at 10:17 with no sandwich because it still never came out and I had to be back to work. So I basically paid 8.67 for an iced tea!! The girl behind the register and her two coworkers were talking about me because I asked if it would be done soon because I had to make my train. Tell him the grill needs to heat up jeez well fyi I worked in a deli for some years and when those doors opened we were ready to rock. You prep everything before you turn on those lights and open those doors. The railroad eats there frequently its a shame to have such a terrible first experience! Never again.
Sandwich was well prepared and tasted delicious! The only thing stopping me from giving 5 starts is seeing the cook prepare the meals with no mask.
Small hidden gem food is on point delicious
Upon entering, the first thing one can recognise was that the place was clean and the food displayed was well organised and the meal prep area is also clean. I encountered a friendly environment with the staff, not only catering to me but also to the other customers aswell, their Hungry Man Hero did not disappoint and also hot chocolate was on point. I urge future customers to really give this place your money cause its worth it.
HUGE sandwiches. So freaking good. Wash it all down with a large half and half. That’s half iced tea half lemonade for all you non long islanders. Must get the fried Mac and cheese balls!! The owner was super nice as well.
This place is wild. HUGE sandwiches for a great price. The selection is great and they have options for all types of meats and vegetables. You can take out or dine in.
First time ever going there and I thought the heroes tasted great I also enjoyed some deep fried mac and cheese and their iced tea but I think what makes the sandwiches is the bread nice and fresh classic hero bread with sesame seeds I highly recommend this place for a tasty quick bite.
The sandwiches are creative, delicious and obscenely large. Something for everyone in my family from the salads to the appetizers. Easily my new favorite spot
The heros are great but stay away from the fries, nothing but bags of grease!EDIT: I recently ordered again and theyll make the fries without grease upon request. But Im still gonna give it 4 stars because when I recently ordered the best part was the chicken tenders and fries that I ordered for my kids. The hero I ordered called Papa Georgio, wouldve been great except the chicken was under cooked and the balsamic vinegarette was horrible. I guess I need to request to have that actually cooked.
Employees are just there to have fun and show off their nails which are disgusting they are not wearing gloves masks are at the chin and they think they own west islip you can tell by their attitude food is not horrüble tho.

The filling of the sandwich is great but the bread is not good at all its like flavorless pound cake with sesame seeds I wouldnt be surprised if they got it for free if they give you the sandwich without the bread in a wrapper then use your own hero bread then I would give them 4 stars.
The best sandwich/ heroe shop around. I eat there 2 - 3 times/ week and love it. The food is always fresh and the staff is friendly. I highly recommend it.

2021-10-12Great spot for awesome heros. Stopped in for a little lunch on the go. The staff was super friendly, showed me the regulars and specials and answered the questions I had.I ended up ordering the Alamo hero. The bread was super soft, the chicken was perfect and the combo of flavors was amazing. The size of the hero for the price was very good as well. Highly recommend 👌

2021-11-07Ordered the Italian with the works (no onions) on ChowNow. The sandwich was ready fast, made perfectly and delicious! The italian had great flavor and includes pepper ham, and cappy, which adds a little spice to the sandwich. The meats were high quality and the veggies were super fresh. One of the things I love about this place is the bread they use for their sandwiches. It is reminisent of the breads from White House subs in Atlantic City. Soft, white and dense. AND, the folks in the place were nice!

2022-04-07By far my favorite sandwich place in the area. Im so glad I randomly found them on grubhub a while back. I was so used to getting ripped off by Jersey Mikes and their tiny sandwiches. This place has a huge selection of sandwiches as well as a build your own option. They also offer salads and wraps. Sandwiches are very large and filling and see stuffed with meat and other toppings that you could want.

Very friendly staff and clean facility.Ordered the Fursh & Buffalo Chicken cutlet heroes. Chicken cutlets are made to order. Fresh, crispy and juicy.Also tried the tater tots with loaded sour cream on the side. Its mixed with shredded cheddar cheese and chives. Amazing!

2019-06-26My husband and i found this shop on Instagram (were foodies). We both love trying different places, but this was on another level. We drove almost 2 hours and it was totally worth it. I had the Mac Attack, which is basically chicken cutlet w/ macaroni and cheese on a hero. I had to bring it home because i couldnt finish it. My husband had their new sandwich (Jay Jay). It was fresh, filling, and delicious. Definitely recommend!!

2019-10-01Takeout order - no napkins in the bag or etc. Counter help was standard, do their job accurately and the food was prepared in a timely fashion. The Philly (Cheese steak) had fresh ingredients and tasted fine - but, theres better and not just in Philadelphia. The Manhattan (Roast Beef) was where the these Heroes hit a home run!! The gravy and sandwich flavors hit the sweet spot! I would certainly try them again!

2022-02-28I ordered a simple hero. When I got home it wasnt correct. Its very disappointing when someone cant follow simple instructions. Cold cuts didnt seem to be a good quality. Unfortunately my incorrect hero was to salty to eat. I had to throw it out.

2021-08-10I recently ordered the delta 8 gummies..They are the perfect relaxation chill out no anxiety THC. I was actually blown away how good they were..Taste great fast acting long lasting effect. I started with one..worked great. I think you could prob use a half and it would have a nice effect. Thanks hometown heroes for your products as well as supporting our military.
