Hong Kong Supermarket in other cities:
This is a good place to buy food from China as well as other places in Asia. They have a fish market as well as a meat market so you can get almost every type of food you may need. The produce is fresh and I found fruit that I never heard of but I wanted to try for the experience. It can be very crowded on the weekends so go in early and be on the move so you dont bump into others.
Overall, not a bad market. However, as of September 23, 2017 theres still a lot of construction going on. The basement used to feature a tiny anime/Pokemon card/ baseball card shop and a bookstore that had a small selection of zone free DVD players. That is now all gone. The produce department always has good quality produce. However, the meat and fish departments still seem a little shady. In the era before Google existed I saw a worker in the seafood department take off one of his boots and wash one of his feet with the hose thats supposed to be used for washing the the food handing equipment and display fixtures.... Check the expiration dates on every product you touch.... Remember: Buyer beware.
This place is crowded and they dont really have a parking lot per se. They use the parking lot of the nearby bank when the bank is closed. Since the renovations this market has been running a number of sales and food is priced aggressively. Appears that produce turnaround is quick, so generally the produce is fresh but as usual buyer beware.
You can find cheaper vegetable here, the meat is at the average. Also, some of the snacks from Japan got discount but almost to the expired date, check before buy! The only thing I dont like is at night the cashier only open one line, you have to wait for a while to pay for your groceries.
Havent been here in years. The place is a mess. Compare to the first year of opening and now is two different world. Staff arent practicing safety procedures. Mopping everywhere but no sign to indicate the floor is wet. Low on staff at the register. Line building up causing people not to follow the 6ft rule. Unlike other places I shop regularly. They label the floor. This place just dont care.At a time of pandemic. Shouldnt you be more productive earning more business than letting it run on autopilot? Please pay more attention to your staff and customers needs.
Lousy place to shop if you want to be able to ask questions in English. Everyone in the market refuses to speak English. They live here in AMERICA and feel its unnecessary to speak English. I guess the staff are too stupid to learn the English language. No signs of mongaloidism nor down syndrome so theyre not retarded. Dont waist your time shopping here.
Bad attitude of staff,, special those people who response on seafood area, I was been there many years and today I saw one of the guy with glass who works in seafood area was shoutting to one of the lady wants to buy some shrimp,, for any reason,, I dont think this guy was right.
Review is for the new food court on the lower level. Thai Express has a simple menu but includes an outstanding version of Hainan chicken over rice. The set menu is $8 and you get a drink for an extra $1. The chicken portion we got was from the leg and mostly deboned. It was silky and tender and goes very well with their house sauce (slightly sweet garlicky and gingery). The rice was fragrant and not overly salty. I’ll be back for this delicious set meal. A nice edition to the Flushing food court scene.
Its difficult to really want to come here when there are better options that arent far. This supermarket used to be great but for some reason their quality has really gone down. The aisles are poorly kept and the quality of produce is bad. Fruits do not look fresh. Vegetables and meat look okay but nothing looks appealing.
Love it. Good location~In the middle of the flushing. Has a parking lot that right next to it. Once you buy groceries for certain amount, your parking fee is covered. It is very convenient for driving in to shop.Carry most of the Asian vegetables and produces. Fresh seafood and meats.Price wise, the store is right at the bargain.Enjoy to shop there. Will recommend to friends and families.
There is a newly built food court downstairs, afterwards you can do some grocery shopping when you come upstairs. Prices are a bit expensive. And there are lots of people now that shop here due to food court. You can shop here for a few quick items if you don’t want to go elsewhere. A convenient place for everything.
This particular supermarket has a fine section of produce and seafood. Like other markets, they have a discounted produce section and the quality is consistently better than others. Though it can get busy, the aisles are wide enough and everything is neatly organized.
Very disappointed in store. Used to go there all the time when I lived in the area. Always had what I needed and more. This time they had none of the soy sauces I used to buy there. I couldnt believe what I read in another post, that they actually smudge out the expiration date on bottled products. But they do. If I didnt actually see it I wouldnt believe it. Last time I will ever go there.
Less crowded, sometimes better prices (compared to jmart) and has most of what I am looking for in an Asian grocery store. Had one bad experience with pork ribs, looked good and well within expire date, but after opening at home turned out to have spoiled. Otherwise very positive experience here.
This place had become Good Fortune Supermarket a few years ago. Compared to other Chinese supermarkets nearby, this one is attractive for its meat, seafood and vegetable departments. The only drawback is that it does not have a parking lot. It uses a banks parking lot when the bank is closed. I still cherish the memories of the old Hong Kong supermarket which now has only one survived in the whole NYC.
As a supermarket it well stocked. I wont find to many spanish choices, but I will find good selection of fresh seafood and veggys. I mainly go there for the food court under the market. I can find a few of my favorite dim sum downstairs behind the stairs. I also enjoy the ribs from there. Eventually Ill try some of the other shops. They seem tasty enjoy to try.
After changing ownership, this supermarket chain has become overpriced with very low turnover. Perishables are older than neighboring stores. Varieties have also been reduced. It has become a shell of its old self. Theres no reason to specifically shop here other than convenience.
This supermarket has been renovated for over a year. Downstairs offers a brand new food court with over 20 vendors, mostly of all Chinese cuisine style . About one hot pot there, one tea, one juice place, a seafood spot, numerous types of noodles, Thai, dumplings, a chop shop, biangs there too. The supermarket is not super tight around the isles. They provide everything a normal Chinese market does. Prices are very good and they have a small section of American and Spanish products. Registers at both ends of the market, it may seem confusing but its there. Best thing to get are the fresh seafood and leafy greens. Right off Main St.
Lapin and I came here after the Mets game to explore the neighborhood. I saw a sign that they had live crab for $3 a pound but when I went in to ask for assistance, the man at the fish department looked at me like I was insane. The store looks like it was going through construction which makes me wonder of the cleanliness of the place since their tanks were open below the construction work.In the middle of the store, they had a bunch of out of service freezer which look like a graveyard. The produce looked a bit meh and seems like they had seen better days. The fresh fish section is a bit paltry compared to others but priced competitively. The frozen food section is vast but most of the items were not properly priced. Which brings me to my next qualm about this place, they put one price on the shelf and when we went to the register they charged something else. Which was very sneaky of them.
The motto is that the customer is always wrong.seemed ok until we had to deal with store return policy. purchased two items that were improperly priced on the shelves. realized the markup at the cashier. paid for the items and walked toward customer service within one minute. didnt think it was going to be a big deal but store credit was the only consolation. in other words, no refund even if the store made the mistake.the only thing that could have saved us was to refuse payment at the cashier. this is supposed to be hong kong supermarket, owned by a hong kong business tycoon and famous actress, not some shady 99 cent store run by joe blow.
This supermarket was formerly called HK supermarket, now a chain supermarket of 好運來. At this time, 2017-2018, J-mart is probably one of the most expensive big supermarket in the area, which leaves HK supermarket a great alternative when it comes to buying green veggies and meat in large supermarkets in Flushing BID.

2022-06-05This is a super super huge Asian market in Flushing Queens. NY. It is my first time visiting this particular market. It is a 2 floor business with access to elevators. Easy Wheelchair & electric chair access. The place is immaculate and the prices are reasonable. The produce, seafood and meat market foods were all very organized and looked fresh. The aisles are organized and easy to identify.I definitely would recommend visiting this market. The experience was very satisfying. Best hours to visit is early mornings like 10am.

2022-02-19Great variety of goods. I was very impressed. However, I wasn’t impressed with the way I was treated just because I’m Black. I work in the area so I wanted to grab some groceries quickly. I had an issue finding something and when I went to ask a worker to help me find it, he ignored me and walked away. That was such a humiliating experience.

2022-02-27They need to clean the store. Fish tanks have mold in water. Flies are inside meat dept and floor is sticky as hell. Plz correct this situation.

2019-12-053.5 stars. Nice Chinese supermarket with good selection of Asian goods (groceries, snacks, veggies, meat and fish). I find this supermarket less crowded and hectic than others in this area. Aisles are always clean and organized. Prices are comparable with other Asian supermarkets in the neighborhood. I would go elsewhere for meat and fish. Conveniently located on Main Street near buses and the 7 train. One and half star taken off due to lines at checkout. Lines are quick but I don’t understand why they don’t staff enough people at the registers.

2022-04-05I absolutely love this place, I was very impressed coming from Kentucky, I was overly impressed by the live crabs and other various seafood, its Avery refreshing experience to see FRESH food as opposed to processed. I would have given a perfect score however, the older guy in the seafood was rude & didnt seem to speak English or maybe he didnt want to talk to ME.... (a black woman)

2019-11-30Good values and large selection at the large Asian supermarket on the main floor, with food court in the basement (about two dozen stalls of various Asian cuisines, like Korean, uyghur, Tianjin dumplings, etc.).
