I co-chaired an adult social for our school’s PTA and chose Hooks and Chops as the venue. The manager, Erin, was amazing and really worked with us to offer up various options and ideas. She thought of EVERYTHING and every detail even down to the glitter in our signature cocktail! The food was incredible, atmosphere was perfect, and service was amazing! The outdoor patio where we held the event made everyone feel safe in a covid conscious world. With 100 attendees, there was plenty of space for us to spread out and enjoy each other’s company safely. We received so many compliments on the venue and the event! It was so great to support a local business and we were so appreciative in return for them supporting our PTA. My husband and I are dying to go back for dinner one night soon! Thanks again Erin, Chef, and the entire staff at Hooks and Chops for making our event so successful and so memorable! If you haven’t tried it yet, you MUST go!
It was a fun little place to go to once. Food is good, not great. Service is exceptional. Now to the fun part. Why does water cost $8, have a creation date like they made H2O molecules themselves and has an expiration date? What the hell happens when a water molecule expires? Of course, there was the ever-present $4 Long Island soft drink I always complain about. But we had a great time and our server, Samantha D was amazingly fun, well-informed, professional, and has amazing people skills. You should make sure shes making enough money to keep her.
My husband and I ate for the first time and was absolutely amazing! Our Waiter Corey was incredible! I am gluten free and he was so helpful with my order. He also made some recommendations for us and we loved everything! Great atmosphere, great service, and great food with GF options. We look forward to going back!! Thanks Corey!
This was our first time here and I was impressed. Not only was the food delicious, the staff was awesome and we spoke to the chef/owner as we were walking out. So happy to tell him everything was great.I had gotten the oven roasted little neck clams appetizer. It was brought out in a little pot, and the clams were mixed with onion, tomato and chorizo with a piece of ciabatta bread. Good thing there was more bread on the table because I could have made a full meal out of this dish. I ripped up pieces of bread to soak up the sauce and to scoop up chorizo. It was a flavor explosion in my mouth !!! I absolutely loved it !!I ordered the halibut but sadly they ran out of it so instead I had the salmon which they prepared the same way as the halibut for me. It was cedar plank roasted with lobster home fried potatoes, spinach and Cabernet Merlot butter. It was delicious. The salmon was moist and cooked perfectly. The lobster home fries were definitely a nice touch. Even the spinach was so full of flavor !!!Now my husband has food allergies and we were so happy that our waiter asked if anyone has food allergies before we ordered. He even were into the kitchen to find out if what my husband wanted could be made gluten, dairy and egg free. He was definitely happy with his filet mignon and lobster tail. For dessert he had watermelon sorbet and I had the flourless chocolate cake which I highly recommend. It was small which was just the perfect size after a big meal. It was topped with chocolate sauce and gelato and some kind of raspberry sauce. As delicious as it was, I couldn’t even finish it.We were there with another couple and they completely enjoyed their meal also.We sat inside and there was live music outside but we could hear it which was nice.I am looking forward to going back because there are so many things on the menu that I need to try.
My wife and I went last night for our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed our visit. I had French Onion soup and the Flat Iron steak with added Creamed Spinach. The steak was really good, although the next time I will probably pass over it for the Filet or another cut. The Cream Spinach was a smoked version? At first it was just OK, but it actually grew on me and I enjoyed it. My wife had a chopped salad and the Surf and Turf (Filet). She really liked both. We felt the service was very good. Attentive, yet not over-bearing. There was a band in the bar area, which was great. The music was loud enough to enjoy in the dining area, yet not too loud that we could not hear each other. The prices were not too bad. I think our meal with 2 drinks each was about $250 with tip. I hope for a chance to go back again soon. Thanks to everyone there for a nice night out.
Had an awesome first experience! From the moment we walked in the door. Their Hostess was so friendly and accommodating, our waiter Juliano was absolutely amazing! While at our table we also listened to how wait staff interacted with other customers and they seemed equally as Eager to please. The meal was absolutely top notch from appetizer to desert!! Very generous dishes! Will definitely be back!
First time at this restaurant. The staff was extremely nice. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was wonderful. Everyone was seated at least 6 feet apart. The waitress was so nice, asked If we needed anything on a timely manner (some places have the waiters just staring at you the entire time or are never around to help you out). All is good, we had a wonderful night. It is a bit pricey, but its acceptable to indulge every once in a while 🤣For the appetizer, we had the lamb lollipop and the calamari. My bf gave the lamb a 10/10, personally, its an 6/10 for me. The calamari was definitely a 10/10We had duck. Again, my bf gave it a 10/10, I give it an 8/10. I had the scallop.. The scallops were delicious! A 10/10 for me.Dessert, my bf had the chocolate cake. Obviously, you guessed it. He gave it a 10/10. It was a little too chocolatety for me. I give it a 6/10. I had the creme brulee and I would say its a 9/10.For the drinks, I had the apple cinnamon sangria. Its sweet, barely taste the alcohol ( just the way i like my drinks). My bf had the No Name and he liked it. Presentation was everything! All in all, we had a good time and would definitely recommend.
This past weekend we had the pleasure of hosting our twin daughters communion celebration at Hooks & Chops. What a fantastic day we had. Erin flawlessly planned our event and ensured that my husband and I enjoyed our guests. I showed her a few pictures of what I was thinking, and she ran with them. The food was amazing! The sole oreganata was absolutely delicious and the chicken milanese was so so good. The staff was attentive, courteous and just wonderful. We are frequent patrons to H&C and have always enjoyed our meals so I knew it was a no brainer to host our party there. If you need a venue for an event, you must go check it out!! You will not be disappointed.
Went here and was hesitant but gave it a go..Was set to go to another steak house we always go to usually but gave it a go.Get ready to spend Big $$ here !. Other steakhouses have excellent quality, large portions and high prices Dining at Hooks and Chops we found the food to be pretty good but we were pretty shocked when the bill came. The steak I had was decent but had quite a bit of fat on it! Maybe just a fluke? The portions are also notably small mainly the sides dishes. Did not care for the deserts at all. The Look of the place ,ambience and staff were all nice! If the prices were more inline with other high end steakhouses and portions were bigger would go again. This is a revised review
Wanted to love it as I have certainly heard good things from many people. The food was generally good, but not amazing especially at this price point. The service from begining to end was excellent, but my biggest complaint was the drinks. As we now aproach almost $20 for a cocktail from any restaurant we do expect a quality pour. We found both the signature cocktails and our dirty martinis to be lack lusture at best. While we wont be rushing back, we might consider a second visit in the spring.
This was our first time at this new restaurant which I have to say was an amazing experience. Tonight there weren’t too many people so there was plenty of space. The restaurant has a great ambiance and is decorated very well. The staff was friendly and very observant of our needs. My temperature was checked, which made me feel secure. Now to the important stuff, the food.We started off with the dirty chips which were large and tasty, this went well with our drinks. The bbq flavor and cheese were a great combination with the chips. We then had the lamp lollipops and the calamari. The lamb was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. It was tender and easy to eat. Very tasty. The calamari was an interesting mix of spicy and sweet, served with chopsticks. Personally I felt it was a bit too sweet but when sharing with plenty of people, it wasn’t overwhelming. No one else in my party complained, so it might just be me.We then had the New York Strip steak and the duck breast which were both done well. We also shared the filet mignon, lobster, tuna and scallops. My wife’s favorite was the tuna which was tender and tasty. The lobster was my favorite and I normally don’t like lobster and the scallops were good enough that my mom would come just for those. The seafood was extremely fresh, much fresher then other nearby seafood restaurants. The French fries are to die for, the duck fat with the fries makes me never want fries without it!We finished our meal with the fresh cookies and doughnuts. The cookies were to die for and came with a glass of sweetened thick milk that brought me back to my childhood. The doughnuts were good too, but if I had to pick one I’d go for the cookies.Great experience from a great chef and staff. I’ll be bringing my whole family back next time!
Had dinner at Hooks and Chops last night. I was instantly impressed with the classy and modern decor as well as beautifully displayed bar. It was nice to see that they were following all social distancing protocols. All staff was wearing masks and hand sanitizer was strategically placed throughout the restaurant. It is a true fine dining experience. The staff is well trained on how to conduct themselves and treat the customers. Everything we ordered was delicious. I highly recommend the truffle tots, they are amazing, my filet was cooked to perfection and the desserts are to die for. If you order the cookies and milk be sure to get several glasses to share the shake is so good everyone will want some. In these difficult times it was so nice to go out to a restaurant and be guaranteed perfection everytime. Im hooked.
Had calamari, mussels, clam chowder, pork chop, delmonico steak, steak & frites, salmon. The calamari was different. We liked it. Mussels in white wine was bland. Chowder had lobster in it, which was good. I didnt like the pork chop too much. Should have the Frenched hen au jus.
A great group of girlfriends took my friend Jenna and I out to celebrate our birthdays at Hooks and Chops last night! Let me start by saying the service, our waiter Corey and his staff were excellent!! We are a lively group and they were personable and helpful. The food was delicious! I loved their mussels and other seafood dishes. We sat in the section where the high top tables are and enjoyed the live music! Songs like Brown Eyed girl and Jack and Diane were sung. It was so much fun! The place is gorgeous and we all had a great time!! I can’t wait to go back.
Amazing food, terrific chef! From the minute you walk in or call this establishment, the hostesses are so welcoming and friendly...nothing like a first impression!!Wait staff are accomodating and attentive, the bar is fully stocked with every drink you can ask for.Weekly specials are fabulous and unique. Its a must dining destination.
This was our second time going to hooks and Chops, which is very local to us and may become a regular haunt. Much like Ruby Tuesdays was prior to its closing. The food is really good, and we were really impressed with everything we had. Drinks were also excellent, but the noise level was a little high. That may just be because of when we went (Thursday evening) but the service and food were awesome.Definitely recommend.
Not my first time here and definitely will NOT be my last! Service was impeccable, food was amazing! Must try the Bronzino it had to come right from the ocean! And the pear martini was simply delightful!Music was perfect and now my only issue is debating whether or not to get dessert!
My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding here and everyone LOVED the food! The whole experience from booking to the end of the night was amazing and seamless! We love steak and looked at other places like Blackstone and Insignia however they were not flexible with the menu and when we asked to adjust the menu they were charging a ridiculous surcharge for every person even if one person ordered the dish. Erin at Hooks & Chops allowed us to customize the full menu! We had family out of state and they said every time they visit we’re going there to eat there! I wouldn’t change a thing and it was an amazing dinner to start our wedding weekend!
My wife and dined on the patio this past weekend with another couple. The food was amazing. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly. The service was friendly and so professional that it was actually the subject of some of our table conversation. Id classify this as a high end restaurant. Aside from great food, we look for great experiences at these types of places. We are so happy to have a restaurant of this caliber in our area. We look forward to many more great Hooks and Chops experiences.
This area needed a seafood restaurant so I had high expectations but unfortunately it failed to meet them. We order from the raw bar and a app. The quality and freshness were excellent but the price was high. We ordered a few drinks and a mix of 12 raw calms/oysters and another app. We were surprised by the bill at the end. Maybe 4 stars if it wasnt over priced.
The staff is just wonderful. Juliano treated us like family. He took extra care as one member of our party has multiple food allergies/sensitivities. He took time to confirm ingredients with chef and recommended safe options. Erin, manager and Chef Steve Del Lima are clearly passionate about making sure your dining experience is a wonderful one.Food choices are unique, cooked to perfection and delicious. Wedge salad is unlike any we’ve had and it will be difficult to settle for a traditional one in the future. Seafood, raw bar, steaks and signature cocktails did not disappoint. We will definitely be back and will recommend H&C to our friends.
Dinner was fabulous! Executive Chef Steven DelLima’s menu offers an array of options for all food lovers. His attention to detail in plating and his delicious flavor profiles are exceptional! The waitstaff’s attention to details was impeccable. From start to finish- the service, the food, the drinks all exceeded our expectations.
The food was delicious! It was cooked for a little more than what we asked for but it was still delicious nonetheless. The prices were a bit on the higher side but we deemed it worth it (especially with food prices fluctuating with the COVID shortages)! It was my first time going and I will definitely be back again! My only suggestion would be to not have the fries served in a bucket. Its cute but at the same time, made the fries a little soggy as I was finishing the meal. If thats the only problem I had I would definitely recommend giving this place a try if you havent already.
Really disappointed with this restaurant. This was our 2nd time here and we won’t be back after tonight. We had a 5:15 reservation- we showed up a bit early and that sat us with no problem. Our waitress had an attitude from the start of service. My daughter (7 years old) asked for an iced tea to drink. The waitress responded to her, “Sorry, I only have unsweetened iced tea- what else can I get for you?” (With an attitude)- at this point I interjected and told the waitress that my daughter would have the iced tea and she could bring some sugar to the table so we could add it to her drink. Very unwilling to be accommodating for a 7 year old. My husband ordered little neck clams as his appetizer and I ordered the shrimp. The kids had an artichoke each. The clams and shrimp ended up coming out on the same platter. My husband is allergic to shrimp so we explained to the waitress that he needed new clams because the shrimp was on top of the current ones and he wouldn’t be able to eat those. Her initial response was “well I didn’t know he had a shrimp allergy..”, with an attitude. We didn’t even think to mention it prior since we did order separate appetizers each. Typically, when we go to a seafood restaurant, one of the first things always asked is “are there an allergies at the table?”… and we were not asked. Either way, our disappointment really was just with how our waitress responded to the situation. A customer should never be given an attitude like this. We decided we no longer wanted to stay and asked to close out the bill (4 sodas & the 2 artichoke appetizers)- the waitress told us not to worry about it and to just go but we tried again handing her our card to pay for what we had eaten- she insisted that it was alright, so we left.
They were so good. The service was great, the food was amazing and everything was paced well. We had cocktails, apps, a cheese board, soups, and entrees. Everything tasted great and we felt very comfortable with the pace. The tables are spaced nicely and they have a very nice outdoor patio (unheated) with tables and a couch as well. We will be back.
I can say this…… Hooks and Chops in Commack is my new #1!!! Juliano was fabulous and added so much to the meal that really couldn’t be better!!! Greatest service! My birthday dinner was the greatest salmon dish ever btw!! Thank you Maria! I love you so!..and my great friends forever Dave and Karen!!! Thank you again and again!!!
Had a great time at Hooks & Chops. My husband and I did the price fixed menu with wine pairings, which was fabulous. We especially loved that the wine pairings were from local wineries. All of the staff was super friendly and attentive. We especially loved our waitress Erin who had great recommendations and made us feel very taken care of. Will be back.
My husband and I have been to Hooks and Chops many times and are always pleased with the service and the high-end cuisine. We usually sit at the bar and the bartenders are amazing(Juliano, Nico). Erin, the manager, is so friendly and accommodating. We recently brought another couple with us and they were extremely impressed and stated they will be back. Quality food from an amazing chef and fabulous service from the bartenders and waiters/waitresses. We love the atmosphere and will continue to dine here. Thank you, Commack needed a restaurant like this!
Upon arriving for our 7:30 reservation, we were told the restaurant was at capacity and we had to wait in our car before they called us for a table. We waited about 30 minutes. We were not thrilled about the waiting time. We were called and we seated and greeted with complimentary appetizers for our wait, which was amazing to do. After being seated we were greeted by our incredible waiter, Juliano. He had an great sense of humor and made our dining experience a pleasure. Most of our guests had steak and one guest had salmon. All meals were wonderful, especially the appetizers of calamari and oven roasted clams. We will definitely be back.
I found this restaurant when i learned where i planned to meet a friend was closed on Monday.Well what an absolute turn of luck!I waited for my friend at the bar where the friendly bartender made me the most delicious cocktail ever!! I asked her opinion based off what i like and she nailed it.My friend and i ordered only the salad, artichokes and branzino but everything was beyond delicious and presented so lovely.I mean I amstill craving everything i had.My friend agreed! She was also blown away. The restaurant had a nice vibe and was comfortable. I will definitely be back!
We decided to give this new place a try. They had a DJ and the music was the loudest EVER !!! I have dined at many many places with a DJ but never with LOUD BLASTING music ! we were seated and given dinner menu and a beverage menu. We ordered wine and our dinner and also a dessert.when we received our check the wine and dessert was incorrect so we told the waiter the wine charge was incorrect and the dessert was incorrect he said NO there was an increase ! I showed him the menu on both the wine and the dessert and he said some menus were not adjusted as yet???!! the wine was $10.00 over the stated amount on the menu and the dessert was $3.00 over the menu !!! the manager came over and said we are permitted the change any item as needed. She was Extremely RUDE and there is absolutely NO customer service!!! The prices are VERY HIGH and there attitude is VERY VERY RUDE ! we will never return and I have let all our friends know. We are very fortunate L.I.has many wonderful restaurants and this one will never be on that list.
Very disappointing after our 1st time here we returned and what a different experience. The manager, lady is rude and when we were served our dinner, the filet mignon was undercoocked and the lobster tail was raw. When we told our waiter, he said I have to get the manager. The manager came to the table and did not say a word to us, just made a frustrated gesture and took the plate. We were served a raw lobster tail for a 2nd time.Rather than offering to reheat or make a new one we were told they would take it off our bill. When the bill came, they took 10.00 off. We will not return.Horrible customer service...
Went here with my best friend for my 28th birthday. The burger was among the best Ive ever eaten, and worth every penny. The salad was delicious and although it was a small portion, was beautifully presented and plated nicely. The donuts were such a surprise! Especially with the toffee sauce. Our waitress Nicole was very sweet and had a good sense of humor. If I had anything to nitpick about, it would be the use of doilies on the plates. I thought that it cheapened the look, and stuck to the plate when it became greasy. Other than that, I would love to come back here again very soon.
My wife and I made reservations to have a nice evening, drinks, and dinner. Our waitress walks up to us without a mark. Yes, crazy considering all staff in restaurants in NYC require masks, you would think the bare minimum is not what LI restaurants believe is acceptable. So I asked the waitress as she walked up to me without a mask whether she was vaccinated. She responded without a mask, no, I dont have to.I politely say, please send a waitress, that is.Someone else walls over to take a drink order. We ask the same question, to which she responds, yes, all good. The manager comes over and asks us what the problem is. I said to her, the waitress without a mask was unvaccinated. Do you understand our concern? She responds, no, I dont understand. We follow CDC guidelines. We walked out after our drinks. It is not a political statement but isnt it an opportunity for restaurants to better themselves? I would rather have a home-cooked meal with guests knowing we are taking the necessary safety precautions.Owners Response: Maybe if you are that uncomfortable going to a restaurant during a pandemic you should consider ordering in.Patrons response: Ok, yes, I went to a restaurant this evening and felt very comfortable by their practices. However, I recommend that all those who read the review enjoy an evening at home if they consider patronizing your business.Owners Response: Again, shame on you for coming on here to try to publicly defame us when you were the one to cause a scene.Social media is about people helping people. It is the best way for the consumer not to make a mistake. Not make a mistake twice.Remember, we are a small business and have children to feed and again, if you were worried our lovely manager would have explained all the Covid protocols we still have in place!Patron: Sorry, we all have children and grandchildren, so shame on you for putting them in a position to defend your poor decisions. You have the opportunity to make your small business a success. Unfortunately, you dont have us hooked, but hopefully, you will learn to hook others at their comfort level, not yours.
Absolutely fantastic dinner. Very trendy great, decor ambience was perfect for hanging out.The lollipop lamb chops were tasty, spiced perfectly and delicious. The classic mussel pot was also perfectly prepared in a great sauce that was made for dipping, definitely a favorite. The diver scallops were absolutely delicious fresh and tasty. Our server was Ash and she was exceptionally attentiveWill definitely be back for sure
The restaurant was beautiful inside. Bar was very trendy. friendly greeting at the entrance. waiter, Juliano was very polite friendly and knowledgeable. The duck breast was cooked perfectly. the porterhouse was delicious, but because of the size of the cut, I thought it was over priced at 69 dollars. had a great siding meal. will definitely visit there again
Weve eaten here two times now. The food and service is fantastic. Took some people the first time that are in the restaurant business and they loved it. Excellent home made deserts.Oh and I went there for happy hour 1/2 ,price drinks and appetizers.New and clean and following covid protocol.Highly recommended
We dine out a few times a week and Hooks and Chops is always a place we talk about. Sitting at the bar is always fun and the staff is very accommodating. The lobster bisque is a go to of mine and the Ahi Filet Mignon is amazing! From apps to desserts, were never disappointed! Some people may comment its a little pricey, but quality food and dining does come at a price.
This place was a huge let down. The restaurant is beautiful and definitely carries the expectations of a 5 star restaurant and the prices reflect that. Our bill was over $350. The soup was amazing. The Cesar salad I sent back it was horrible. Lacked flavor didn’t taste of anything but moist lettuce. The lobster tail was salty and barely edible probably due to it being poached in butter. The steak was ok but definitely not worth the almost 60$ they charged for their speciality chop section of the menu. The house made steak sauce was more like a cocktail sauce it tasted more like ketchup with a sprinkle of horseradish. I barely ate half of it. The best thing was the brussel sprouts. The purvian mashed was meh. The cheesecake wasn’t good at all either. Service was ok. This place will not last unless they get a better chef or they adjust their prices. It was worth about half the price in my opinion. I will not go here again. I struggle with the 4.5 star rating. I don’t see how. It wasn’t that good at all.
Amazing!!! Went here last night and had the best meal ever! First off, as soon as you walk in they take your temperature, they follow very strict covid regulations. Tables were spread apart accordingly and there are dividers at the bar and in the lounge. We sat in the lounge. The restaurant is beautiful!!Our server was friendly and attentive. We started off with the calamari and truffle fries, delicious!!! Then I had the cowboy ribeye which was cooked perfectly and was full of flavor!! My friend had the duck which was unbelievable!Chocolate cake and milk and cookies for dessert were also delicious!Highly recommend this restaurant and can’t wait to go back!
Great food, my tomahawk steak was amazing, juicy and flavorfull, cooked perfectly to my liking! My friends also raved about their fish entrees, super fresh. Service was efficient and fast, we had craft cocktails to start, and then a nice bottle of wine with entrees!Home run!
What a great place. We went for the second time and had a great time with friends. The food is incredible and service is 2nd to none. All of our orders were cooked perfectly. Our server Yvonne was so knowledgeable and sweet. She did a fantastic job. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you for a great night and thank you to our server.
What a welcomed addition to the neighborhood!!! I have been here two times since they have opened and it keeps getting better and better! We have been reading some of the reviews and honestly, the negative ones sound like competitors in the area that feel a little threatened. We have had nothing but great experiences both times we have gone. New restaurants always have growing pains but they are definitely working out the kinks.First off the restaurant is beautiful! The transformation is unbelievable and talk about feeling safe during covid?! As soon as you walk in you’re greeted by a hostess w a thermometer and they take everyone’s temperature. It’s very spacious inside so tables and far apart. No outdoor seating but we were ok with it once we saw the inside. Dividers are at the bar and in the bar area but we decided to sit in the dining room. We felt very safe and noticed a lot of hand sanitizer stations around the restaurant. Our server was friendly and attentive and the manager checked on us multiple times throughout the evening. The Pineapple Basil drink is delicious and such a nice selection of wines! Then came the food!! O.M.G!!! Our surf n surf appetizer was to die for and the speck and arugula flatbread was amazing!!! Then dinner.....my surf and turf was probably the best I have ever had, cooked perfectly and the potato cake underneath was off the charts!!! My husband had the ribeye and he said it was also cooked perfectly and so flavorful!!!Dessert was just as good, the dessert menu has something for everyone! We had the Baked Alaska and cookies and milk and I can’t wait to go back to get the baked Alaska again!! Mouthwatering!!!Reasonable steak house prices and in our opinion worth every penny!!!Cant wait to go back!
We went to celebrate my husbands birthday - first off:The food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the burrata and the chops were perfectly cooked (cowboy and filet mignon). Also highly recommend the creamed spinach side it was by far one of the best I’ve ever had. And the creme brûlée was amazing for dessert (not too sweet).Second, They timed the dinner so perfectly and were so so friendly (we had our toddler with us) so to have a welcoming generous service from the team was very much appreciated. They would wave at her and continue to check in for anything we needed.Long story short: amazing food, super friendly and welcoming service from the staff and overall beautiful restaurant ambiance. So glad to have found a great steakhouse near home to always go to. Definitely coming back.
Such a nice place!! Service was excellent, super nice and lively... I had gone for my Anniversary and they had set up the table so cute with love doves and champagne on the house :) The food and desserts were delicious... would definitely recommend and will Definitely be back!!
All I can say is that Ive been here several times and from the service to the drinks and to the the food everything is outstanding!!! Menu is insane and I have NEVER had a better steak on Long Island!!! Great menu and flavor combinations that you dont see here on Long Island!! What a Gem!! My favorite place to dine now. Doughnuts and Baked Alaska is out of this world!
Beautiful restaurant and service was great. Our server Sam was great hopefully when the restaurant closes she can find a better restaurant to work at. The food was nothing to write home about. My wife’s steak was just ok not high end like you would expect from a fancy restaurant. My food also just ok. My son had the salmon and took one bite and stopped eating. The saving grace and the reason I gave three instead of two stars was the dessert. Lol my son said he wished it was still Ruby Tuesday’s and have to admit I miss their croutons.Response to the owner: We did not tell Sam we were unhappy because we weren’t unhappy but we weren’t happy either. The dishes have too many competing flavors. There was just too much going on. We appreciate your response and wish you well.
Shows lots of promise. Like most places starting out there are some hiccups... But overall looks like it will be a great place.Service was really good, especially considering how new the restaurant is. Our waiter was tops, and kept everything moving. We brought our 5 year old, and they did have kids cups and cleared the glassware immediately for us. They also offered a high chair if needed. The wins, a Blood Orange Old Fashioned, which offered a sweet young twist to the classic. This version for the drink is an easy crowd pleaser. The oyster special was exactly as described, briney and lovely. The classic accoutrements were all present, but the oysters are really best without any frills. The red snapper was flavorful and a real unique treat. The diver scallops were slightly over... but flavor still shown through. We would pass on the artistic popcorn, lobster bisque. A little too much happening and the high quality fish is lost in it. Bakes Alaska didnt seem to come together.Loved the Canadian Ice Wine.4 stars for now, mainly pushed by great service and the promise of a where this restaurant is going.
Modern atmosphere, beautifully displayed bar. A bit inexperienced for a high end restaurant. There were three young people in the greeting/check-in area waiting around, chatting. Similar to a fast food chain waiting for a dinner rush. Not important I know, but not impressive. The service was ok, we had a nice kid, sometimes forgetful and that’s ok if you’re at Ruby Tuesday’s not if you’re paying for an overpriced meal. The food is a bit pricy for the quality and quantity. Some of the high end liquor prices were outrageous. Manhattan maybe, Commack not so much. Disappointed in the baked Alaska and the fried donuts were a toddlers portion of zeppoles that came on a small paper treat bag, nothing special. Wishing the owners the best of luck.
I basically eat out at every nice restaurant I can find. I was over joyed with the service and freshness of the food. Not your generic presentation or typical high end items that I feel seems to be the same at every 5 star restaurant on LI. Came back a week later for wife’s birthday and everything was above expectations. Already told a bunch of people to check it out- so should you.
When I heard about this restaurant taking over the former chain food location I said Goodbye Ruby Tuesday! I read about it in Newsday and was excited to try it. What a disappointment. Our waitress was lovely and we had our order decided before she took it. She comented how easy we were to serve. Cocktails, Appetizers, entrees and a bottle of wine. We waited 15 minutes for our cocktails and anticipated our appetizers coming out shortly after the drinks. The waitress informed us that she forgot what we ordered! We had to start over but they assured us they would rush out the first course. The apps came out and our main course arrived before we were done eating the appetizers. Also tbe $70 bottle of wine we ordered was nowhere to be found. The manager finally came out with it and was very apologetic. She explained that the restaurant was only open for a short time and the better bottles were in a different location. She went on to tell us that she recruited some of the staff from Applebees where she worked previously. This explains the sub par service and inexpeeriennced staff. This place pretends to be high end and the decor is beautiful, but the food is more like Ruby Tuesday than a high end restaurant. Our tab was $198,00 before tip, so not cheap. For that price I expect better quality food and not just a nice decor. They wont last unless some changes are made in a hurry.
Couldnt taste the lobster in the frou frou lobster bisque, better suited for fall menu, the clam and chorizo pot was very salty and really hard to eat both because of the saltiness and also have it was served in a tiny pot, my entree was barely lukewarm. The duck was cooked great but the components were cold and sloppy. Ill try them again, just to see what all the hype is about, the service was absolutely spectacular and on point! Except when I had to wait 30 minutes for the check.
On Sunday we had a small get together at Hooks & Chops after my daughters Christening (family only because of Covid) ... but even though it was a small party, the owner and staff still made us feel special and like our party was important every step of the way! The owner/chef met with me to choose the menu items that’s my guests would chose from. The waitress (Erin! Request her— you won’t regret it) met with me to go over our desires for the big day and brain storm ideas on how to set up tables and decorations AND met with me the night before the event when i dropped off our decorations, floral centerpieces, cakes & favors . The day of the party, Erin set up EVERYTHING (since were were coming right from the church) ... Her taking that responsibility off my plate was SUCH a relief and to top it off , she did it PERFECTLY with such attention to detail. i have OCD and was nervous allowing someone else to set up , but Erin exceeded my expectations. I can tell she has a passion for making sure the guests are happy which leads me to her service. My family cannot stop raving about how great the staff were (especially Erin & Freddy) ... They were friendly, polite, professional and a joy to have helping us for the party ... The food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING !!!!! During the party everyone was complimenting the food and they haven’t stopped since! It was everyone’s first time there (since they just opened) but EVERYONE has told me they plan to go again ! I cannot recommend them enough for both the quality and taste of the food AND their ability to pull off the most amazing event/party!!!!!!!
Unfortunately, this restaurant has horrible management. A week prior we went to the restaurant and picked out our table and made a reservation for 8.15 the following Sat.We live 30 mins away and showed up to the restaurant with another couple that Sat at 8:30...15 mins late and were told no tables were available. They offered us to sit at the bar. Interesting enough they gave our table away 45 mins prior to this !!! Unfortunately, the Chef being extremely talented a situation like this can hurt a restaurant. Iam sure once they rectify their management problem, we will try to come back sometime in the future.
Absolutley horrible. I have been here 2 x now and last time. Service slow. Very loud. Food came out cold. They switch waitresses half way through a meal. The manager could care less when ww told her. Party going on wlwith 60 people next to us and couldnt hear a thing. Will never come back.
Excellent food very attentive and friendly wait staff portions were big enough that we were able to order one meal for the two of us and that was more than enough definitely recommend you see this place in dancing and manage to read this review go for it you wont regret it your wallet might hurt a little bit but you wont regret it
I walked in at 9:45 and was denied seating because they told me they were closing soon. I looked it up before I came and it said 11, which I then asked the host about and she said “yeah we do”. Didn’t make sense why I couldn’t be seated with 2 other people if they didn’t close for another hour and 15 minutes. Very disappointed since I was super excited to try this place out.
Updated: over a year in business and Chef Steve continues to bring his best! I have seen at least 4 or 5 menu changes since opening week! Continues to have amazing cocktails, food and service! 5 ⭐️ across the board!!Just opened up!!!!!5 star food5 star ambiance5 star menu3.5 star serviceExec Chef/Owner Steve Del Lima rises to the occasion by delivering all star flavors and food. We had an amazing meal. Service was slow to get started but in the end people were friendly and accommodating. They are literally days old so there is bound to be some kinks to work out. Don’t worry Chef Steve will make it happen. We had the clams appetizer in an amazing broth, meat and cheese platter along with a ribeye and lamp chops. You won’t be disappointed.
This restaurant is terrible. I went there for dinner and the I didn’t like the sauce that the filet was smothered in. I spoke to the manager about it and he said they couldn’t throw it out. I had to pay for another meal. So basically I would have had to pay for two meals one of which I had no intention of eating. I will not be returning to such a disgusting place.

2022-04-12Wonderful food & even better service. Our waiter was extremely attentive & went above and beyond. We were a party of four and all of our meals were delicious. The Seared Scallops were phenomenal and the Truffle Tots were great. Love how they bring out a warm bread basket with herb butter.Definitely recommend this spot for a nice night out — looking forward to going back!

2022-02-15The food was absolutely amazing. The service was amazing too. Highly recommend getting the clam chowder (not pictured). Cocktails were awesome. Perfect date night spot or a night out with the girls. Vibe is awesome. They had live music at the bar area. (We passed by it our first time trying to get to it. It next to a vacant building which is actually great because they have a huge lot to park.)

2022-02-19This our new spot. The food is great. So far everything we have tried was so delicious. Our waiter Giuliani made us feel welcomed the minute we sat down. If your looking for great food, drinks and atmosphere this is definitely the best place to be. Enjoy your food.

2022-04-12Service impeccable. Food even better. Had the risotto with scallops. Surf and turf, French onion soup lobster Mac and cheese and crab cakes. Best French onion soup Ive ever had and the steak was perfect. Risotto was amazing. The Mac and cheese was loaded with lobster and very tasty in always leary about Mac and cheese outside of home. We even had dessert. We had the milk and cookies. This the only place Ive been to in a while that had dessert worth ordering. And so glad we did. Couldnt eat it all but it came home. The only complaint was the lobster was a little under cooked but thats better than overcooked. Waiters very attentive and personable. Loved it! Will be back. Thank you

2022-03-23This was my first time here and I will be going back. The staff were very friendly and hospitable. The appetizer clams and chicken dumplings were delicious. The Steaks were tasty and cooked to perfect temp as we chose and probably made better than some other well known steak restaurants in Suffolk and Nassau, thats my opinion.

2021-12-05My fiancé and I tried this place. This place has both excellent service and food. Everything we ate was perfect. The waiter made our experience welcoming. We recommend: burnt Brussel sprouts, French onion soup, and Cesar salad, Lobster bisque soup( could of been seafood sorry forgot the name) even the table bread was warm and delicious. I’m happy that we weren’t rushed either. A lot of restaurants due this. We will definitely be back again at this place. Great job for being a wonderful Long Island restaurant.

2021-08-16Easy to see right off of Jericho Turnpike servicing Commack and the adjoining areas of Suffolk County. Plenty of parking and a wheelchair accessible entrance. Clean facilities. Outdoor dining facilities are available. Great staff especially our Server Gabby and Manager Christopher. Pork Belly Appetizer, Tuna Steak, Sword Fish, and Lobster Bisque were great. I recommend the Baked Alaska and the Dipping Donuts for dessert. Good portion size. Credit cards accepted. Dress Code in place, no Shorts or Cut offs. We will definitely be going back.

2021-11-061st time yesterday. Overall a nice experience. Staff very friendly. Food was also good. My only complaints were the the appetizer the crabcake which was very tasty was a bit cold in the center. We had the burger which was tasty but under cooked and a tomahawk which was also good but a little over cooked. Creamed spinach was delicious. Dessert we had the brownie bites was very good. The drinks were also good. Drinks were good to and reasonably priced. There was live music which was not to loud. He was also good. Would recommend, would go back.
