Room was comfortable and the lobby was very clean. Check in and check out was very smooth. Service with a smile. Did not find an iron and an ironing board so that was one thing that I would recommend. The bathroom was the highlight as it was actually spotless. During the pandemic these small details matter a lot to the hotel guests. The F train station stop is right in front of the hotel so very easy to access from JFK.
My message to the people who want to book a room at HOTEL 21 NYC is to AVOID AT ANY COST! This place is a scam! I had a terrible experience with them. I came from Europe to JFK and once I arrived at the hotel, they canceled my reservation. They put the blame on booking.com. I wrote the exact time of my arrival in the reservation and they disregarded it. Moreover, their naive excuse was that they could not retrieve the payment from my credit card. This was an excuse, because I booked many other hotels during my stay in the States and all of them could get the payment automatically. Therefore, my message to future guest is DO NOT TRUST THEM. Their behavior is not acceptable and I believe that they follow the same strategy with other guests and that they do it intentionally. Shame on you!
When I arrived there was a customer complaining in front of me that they just cancelled the booking very shortterm. There is no room service and the staff is not customer orientated. They do not care if the customers are happy or not because they have people anyway due to the price and location. My room was dirty, socks from previous clients on the shelf and hairs in the bathroom. The bed feels like you are sleeping on a plastic bag. You have to pay a deposit in CASH of 60$. To get cash, they installed an ATM in the lobby that people can get cash from there and of course they get a fee when people withdraw money from there... The location is very good, but I would not stay there again.
Good and clean bathroom. The bedroom was ok, not super clean, and it had some stains on the wall.Very good location, hotel entrance right across the street station, which is good considering the neighborhood is a little awkward. The price is worthy considering what the hotel has to offer. The receptionist is not polite, not a big deal. Just go knowing that!
After a difficult trip to NYC the hotel allowed us to check in early with no extra fee! The $60 deposit must be cash unfortunately, but they do provide an ATM machine there in the lobby for your convenience! Their is a sign indicating breakfast would be served between 6am and 9am although no breakfast was offered the morning we were there. It was clean and comfortable and will likely be the place I stay at next time I visit NYC! Thank you Thank you!
The pros: its affordable, its in a great location across from a subway that takes you right into Manhattan, room had a good view. The cons: it was more expensive than I thought with hidden fees. An advertised price of 125 on booking.com then actually having to pay 175.The place feels more like a sad college dorm than a hotel since there is not really any lobby or customer amenities to be found. but again, cheaper than most other places so I get they dont invest a lot in the vibes. But It felt so sad that the first thing I did was check for bedbugs, which I was glad to find none, but I did find a VERY suspect yellow stain and a cigarette burn on the comforter, and a bunch of other peoples hairs in the sheets.I alerted the front desk and they changed the sheets promptly. Also someone made the terrible decision to paint the rooms in matte instead of glossy, so every scuff and grease mark shows up on the walls, making it look even dirtier/dingier. There wasnt even one piece of bad art hung on the wall to distract from it all.
Always clean and professional. Guest service agent nice and polite. Dont expect any assistance with directions or anything else. Although he did store my bag for a couple hours before check in.My fourth stay at particular property.Very convienient to local bus and train service.
I booked online but when I arrived they tried to tell me they were cash only. There was someone vacuuming in the lobby so I could barely even hear what the desk person was trying to tell me. I ended up going a few blocks away to a less suspicious hotel that honored the online booking.
The advantage of this hotel is that it’s right next to the F train that takes you to downtown NY.The room was bit dirty. When we got there, the sink of the wahsroom was still dirty from the previous guest, there was hair in the showers. Bring your own shampoo and body soap. There was bobby pins and hair on the floors of the room. It seems like it wasent properly cleaned. From previous comments from guests of the cleanliness of the rooms, you would think the the hotel would pick up on it.Other than that, it was ok
Was looking for a cheap, clean place last minute due to a layover and after some research found this hotel. Only writing this review since the current (2.9) rating is a bit harsh & unfair. To be clear some of the complaints are valid:- 60 usd cash deposit is simply ridiculous when youre an international traveler and was almost a deal breaker. Paying their atm fee (2.70usd + your own banks fee if applicable) and then being left with 60 dollars of foreign currency at the end of the stay doesnt sound great. Considering this looks like a prime complaint and nothing has been changed is a pretty strong sign that the management doesnt care.- The small TV in the room is placed very high on the wall. Just, why? Very uncomfortable to watch.- They only turned on heating/AC in the room (straight from the reception) when we asked.- The room is small, but it seems to be commonplace in NYC even in more expensive hotels. Personally, I dont mind. Now to the positives:- Relatively fast & stable WiFi (58 down & 98 up in the morning, 26 down & 66 up prime time)- Clean & newish room with an office chair, desk, minifridge and a closet. The mattress is indeed covered with plastic but it was not as annoying as expected. Actually, the bed was rather comfortable.- The neighbourhood seems perfectly fine. Yes, maybe a little sketchy here & there in immediate vicinity but we never felt concerned about our security. There are modern buildings, gourmet grocery stores and restaurants only a short walk away.- Easy connection to JFK (around 10 min walk to subway line E that takes you to the stop for JFK AirTrain in Jamaica).Overall, provided that the price stays low, I wouldnt hesitate to choose this hotel again.
I am giving this hotel a 5-star rating for the following reasons:Customer Service (which was a 6+)Location (to Manhattan) + subway (steps away)Peace of Mind (eveything we needed we got or had)This is a very no frills hotel with basic rooms. The beauty of this hotel - what they do they do well. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with phenomenal customer service by the front desk staff Syed. This young man went out of his way to ensure that anything and everything we needed we received (early check in, umbrella when it rained, walking us to the convienience store so we knew where it was, keeping our bags for late pick up) he was more than we would have ever expected or imagined.I have read all of the reviews. I understand what people are saying and I will tell you this in the most honest way possible...I stayed for two nights and I saw every type of guest you could imagine in this hotel - students, international guests, families, young couples, old couples, those where english is a second language and business individuals. Not a single person was complaining - everyone going about their business and satified. Some people are particular and different people have different expectations and standards. Nothing wrong with any of this.If you dont want to stay here - thats ok.For the people that have tried and received good value for money and a safe place to stay you know the worth of what you have received! This is a great value for what you are getting and I completely intended to stay here again when I am in the New York City area.Thank you to all the hard working staff at this property - you should be proud of your work!View: 9th floor
Please overlook this place... They are very shady... I stay at alot on NYC hotels and this was the first that required CASH from there lobby ATM. They also dont tell you that the Hotel is directly across from the lasgest Public Housing site in NYC the weekend I was there a police officer was shot by a BB gun from one of the Apartments directly across from this Hotel. They told me they couldnt find my reservation. I felt stranded, please stand clear of this place.
I don’t even speak to you about the 60$ CASH deposit7 days passed here , NO CLEANING , no nothing !!! I had to ask FOR HAVING THE SHEETS , TOWELS CHANGED AND ROOM CLEANEDRight in front of the hotel is THE GHETTO , queensbridge project !!!So at night time in 50/50 for safety , daytime is no problemI know already the hotel will answer saying the usual BLA BLA like he does for EVERY reviewSo spare yourself time and go book somewhere elseFew blocks south , same street LIC HOTEL is TOP NOTCH !!!
Noisy, dirty bed bug, rude front desk one sheet on bed tv too high on wall like someone will steal it. headache to watch. Also they front desk watch your every move. They want everyone id at check in plus deposit. No breakfast. Cold room need i say more. Not recommend. Worst 3 days ever. Spend like 50 dollars more for like a 4 star hotel. Front desk say no everything dirty sheet and towel. No early check in u have to wait til 3 o clock i came all the way from china and got treated this way stay clear of this place.
2.5 would be a better rating for this place. Updated rooms and clean despite being on the smaller side. Perfect size for two people. Great location and very accessible to Manhattan and Queens. However, the reason that they deserve two stars is the lack of transparency about the $60 CASH deposit when booking, the WiFi only working in the lobby and the signal not reaching the 3rd floor and the front desk associate gave us opened shampoo bottles when we asked for more.
The front desk people are very rude, the rooms are super small. They don’t give shampoo or lotion and only one small bar soap. It’s not worth what I paid for. I forgot some clothes and called right away, the front desk told me to send someone in the afternoon, when my mom went to retrieve the stuff, they have disappeared and no one knew anything about it. They also ask for a $60 deposit and you’re not allowed to have visitors. Also the hotel is located in a bad area so be very careful when walking around. The key stopped working after the first night and according to the front desk is because the other person only did it for one day and we have booked for four days.
When I booked this I was so worried because of all the other reviews Ive read. The front desk staff was very polite BUT they should make people aware there is a $60 CASH deposit. ( I was aware of this prior and was prepared). Rooms are very small but clean. Overall great place located near subways. Very fair price. This was my first time in the city as well.
Pros: Rooms are clean, was near the subway.Cons: the front desk people are not friendly. I was in NYC with 3 people, and my girlfriend was not allowed up to the room as they have a strict no guest policy. She was on her period and had to change clothes, and when we asked if it was okay for her to go change (while we waited downstairs), the front desk woman got unreasonably combative and upset. The price for this hotel wasnt even a deal. Only stay here if its your last option. Id give this place 2 stars - only because the rooms are actually ok - but I feel no obligation to be reasonable. I am returning the favor.
I found the hotel very reasonably priced. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful as was the housekeeper. I slept well. I liked that it’s next door to the subway for easy transportation. The only down is the diner was a mile away but there are stores around. I was concerned about the neighborhood itself but it was fine. The hotel room was clean and well constructed.
TERRIBLE! I booked a room for my daughter on her way to college. She went to check in and they would not give her a room because she is 18 not 21. NOWEHERE did it say this when I reserved the room via American Express Travel. She was stranded in NYC without a room to stay in. I had to pay significantly more money at the last second to find her a room that has a normal policy of allowing Adults 18 years of age to stay in a Hotel
These people are malignant. When booked the reservation they did not mention that you have to pay a security deposit of $60. Its ok to pay but they asked me for cash not with a credit card which I dont have, and all of this scenario to let you use the ATM they have there and charge you almost $3 with a terrible poor customer service. Briefly, DO NOT GO THERE.
The room was clean but the lobby floor was completely flooded and they were using bath towels to soak up the water. Are they going to wash them and put them in the rooms after everyone has walked on them? Also I asked the front desk for washcloths and towels and she told me Ill have to find housekeeping and let them know. And also it is not stated but there is a $60 cash deposit required even if the room is already paid for
Horrible, I booked it through the website and I spent there half of my stay, but in the middle of my stay they asked me to leave the hotel as they have this weird policy that no one has to stay in the hotel premises for more than 5 days. I didn’t see such policy on the website and if there is such policy how would the website accept my 2 weeks reservation and withdrawn the money from my bank account which by the way non refundable payment. This is way unprofessional. If they have any policy they have to announce it on their website. I would never book this hotel ever again. Besides this weird policy they also makes you change the room every 4 days. If you say no I will stay till the end of my reservation they will start threatening you to call the police. It was inconvenient, unprofessional and worst business ever. The staff is rude and unprofessional at all. They keep yelling and hang up the phone on the guests. They are forcing you to pay the difference between booking through a website and booking through the front desk. When you check out they throw the deposit in a very rude way. As a gold guest on the majority of booking websites my advice to you, never go there. Save your money and go to a better cheaper places.
Clean, decent sized room bigger than some of the hotels in Manhattan. Bring your own personal hygiene items or you will have to buy from the Bodega. Restaurants near. F train stop right up under it. One stop from Manhattan... I will use again. Oh,.and call first to see if you need cash because the atm is a humdinger.
HelloI’d like to tell that the hotel in an overall experience was average/goodThis is because there is no customer-oriented service at all. The girl at the front desk was really unhelpfulI understand your policy for not holding any luggage as you have absolutely no space and do not want to take responsibility for your customers’ luggage while the check in time. I had to pay the early check-in fee, which I consider OK as I was not willing to carry my luggage around the city until 3pm. But what I consider unacceptable was the attitude of the front desk girl when I complained about the cleanliness of the room. I had to work on the desk most of the time during my stay and when I decided to lay on the bed a STRONG sweat smell was coming from the pillows. In addition, a gray dirty sock was on the side of the bed and that is when I noticed this room was not even cleaned or swept correctly.I went downstairs to tell about this to the girl at the front desk, I decently waited until she finished checking in two new guests and when it was my turn I explained to her the situation. What was her answer? She could not move me to a clean room! Were more rooms available? I’m not sure but she didn’t give the option. I asked her for new linen and a broom so I could at least change the dirty linen and she was hesitant to take action on this! Why? Was it my fault the room was not cleaned? Or was she just not willing to help? My perception is the second option. She was not willing to help or solve the situation. She got mad at the cleaning staff (who were actually waiting in the lobby area) and made her clean the room again before they were dismissed from work.I had to stay working in the room while they cleaned and they actually challenged me asking WHY I DID NOT NOTICE THE ROOM WAS NOT CLEANED WHEN I FIRST CHECKED IN?Well, WHY DIDNT THEY CHECK THE ROOM WASNT CLEAN? It is not the customer’s responsibility, I suppose. What surprises me the most is that I never heard “I am sorry for the inconvenience…” any expressions that could make feel a customer assisted. The girl at the reception told me “if you say it is not clean, well… what can I say?”That is defined not the way I was expecting this to be treated. The hotel has potential, it is well located, the rates are reasonable, it has everything BUT it is lacking of good staff. It just takes 30 minutes to see how desperate the check-in process is due to this lady. And I know that if you got more written reviews like this they all would agree the staff is the problem because they are not even trying to do their job well.
I stayed at Hotel 21 NYC for 3 nights. I loved the fact that the rooms and the hotel itself were quite modern and clean. It also had a pretty good view, and it was just across the street from a subway station. The location looks kinda sketchy especially at night, with drunks and homeless people nearby, but it wasnt that big of a deal since the subway station was so close. In the room, the shower was very good, with great pressure, and the Wi-Fi worked well with good speeds. The staff could be a little friendlier, as they seemed to be in a bad mood all the time, but at least the check-in and check-out ran pretty smoothly. Also, the plastic could be removed from the mattress and pillows, as they make a crackling sound at night, but nothing major. Overall, it was a good stay, great value for money.
If I could give negative star, I would. This place is terrible. The front desk are extremely rude. We called the day before our check in to see if we can check in early but he just laughed at my husband for asking it and said no and hung up. When we check in you have to pay 60 bucks in cash, Im glad they gave it back. But the girl in the front desk cant even greet you good morning. Very unwelcoming staff. My husband asked if they have laundry room and the guy at night laughed at him again and made him feel stupid for asking. The room is dirty and the toilet was clogged. We asked to get the toilet fix, after the housekeeper fixed they left the toilet dirty. Even TV remote and A/C wont work. Weve been working in the hospitality field and we dont want to be complicated guest because we know how it feel so we did not ask for another room. When we checked out, we asked if we can leave the luggage for 2 hrs and the front desk just said no. Really bad and horrible experience. I highly NOT recommend this hotel.
Terrible and sad because the staff of the administration does not take responsibility for the theft by their staff of your belongings. My purchases were stolen by the housekiping and they did nothing on the part of the hotel or call the housekiping to insist that she return the things she took. It is regrettable that they do not value their customers
We stayed here for 2 days ( a weekend). This is more like a motel. The front desk is protected by armored glass(!!!), no hotel lobby or anything. The staff at the front desk is extremely rude. At checkin you have to pay $60 deposit in cash only and the funny part is that there’s an ATM in there that charges almost $3/withdrawal. The “hotel” doesn’t offer any service that a hotel would - they don’t hold your bags if you arrive early or after checkout, for example. The neighborhood is scary, I didn’t feel safe. The only upside is that it’s still new so the room was clean - that’s why I’m giving 2 starts instead of 1.
I booked this hotel through a Hotwire deal. I needed a place to rest for a couple of hours and the hotel had a 24hr reception. I arrived at 7am to check in and was told that I could not check in because check in was until 12am, and I shouldve called in advance for late check in. I was not notified of this policy beforehand in any of the information I received and the Hotel does not seem to have a website.Even if it was hotel policy, the employee could have been nicer about it. He was very stern and even hostile, almost as if to scold me. It made me feel very unwelcome. I was super tired and left with no place to stay, and very harshed by the employees attitude. I felt more welcome at the gas station I went to after to use the bathroom. When the reservation was made I was a bit weary that the hotel did not have its own website and seemed to have some negative reviews on different travel platforms and I guess I should’ve been more careful. Also, i was told I need to pay a $60 deposit in cash, which I was not notified of.
Cheapest price in the city (09/07/2021), this only plus for this hotel. But, everything are poor in suit. No microwave, dirty towels, one soap, and one shampoo. Noisy AC. Small TV. Dirty pillows and bed sheets. They are will ask you Cash deposit ($60) during checking, without cash deposit you cant check in. No restaurant. And no kettle for hot water in room. And etc. Good luck;))
The front desk clerk is very rude didnt want to let us check in early nor keep our bags behind the counter were from a different state so we basically had to carry our bags every where we went then we ask for the manager she didnt want to let us speak to them also didnt want us use the microwave I would not recommend this hotel to no tours unless you feel like getting upset the front desk Clark doesnt want to do anything but shes at work and needs to be fired immediately. Very poor job. Very poor customer service.
All reviews below are fairly accurate but it gets the job done. I needed a place to stay and it provided that on a brand new building. I am giving it 3 stars because of the plastic on the mattress and pillows. That was horrible. Also the receptionist (woman) felt very hostile, not friendly at all. But our view was great
The rooms are VERY SMALL. When it rains the lobby floods. The only good thing is they don’t play about smoking. It’s definitely a no smoking facility. They have copies of people’s I.Ds hung up on wall for those who smoked in the rooms and they’re no longer allowed to stay there.
The staff was rude and didn’t know what they were doing. They tried charging us again after already paying. Then there was underwear in the room when we got there. The key stopped working several times which means as soon as we got to our room on the 8th floor had to go back down each time to tell them. It was not a good experience. I won’t be surprised if they don’t stay open for long as every guest I seen checking in was having the same type of problems.
The hotel employees are extremely rude and unprofessional they wont even greet you besides that if you try to do an early check-in you will have to pay $60 dollars and forget about asking them to hold your bags because they wont besides that you are not allowed to have any one come visit they keep an eye on you to make sure you dont and you will be asked to pay a $60 cash deposit i never heard of such a thing but I guess u get what u pay for. Is unfortunate that a business can be run by this type of employees im assuming they must be related to the owners.
Very horrible service!!! I asked for little late check out, they said they will take your $60 cash deposit. Last night at late at night, the front desk knocked on my door at 12am after like 2 different times saying the smoke detector went on and forced to come in the room. This is not right. This is the worse hotel I have stayed.
The receptionist was okay, however I order food and it was stolen and when I asked the receptionist he was nonchalant and was like it’s gone. Thankfully Uber gave me my money and 8th floor smelled like hellaaaa weed. I could tell this is a new hotel I’m sure it will be run down soon. I wouldn’t stay here again anyways hope you improve for your future guests.
Wish I could rate zero..the worst hotel I’ve ever attempted to stay. $60 cash incidentals fee..don’t have cash, fine use the atm in the lobby..got the cash, oh wait you want to check in early..that’s another $60 cash no exceptions..except they just checked in another guy without an extra fee. Awful customer service. Avoid here!!
I was surprised by the ratings of the hotel! Our stay was excellent, the location is great: less than two minutes from a metro stop and very few metro stops from Times Square. We didnt have towel exchanges or trash pick-ups during our stay (5 nights), but I felt fine without having someone come into the room and I dont think its necessary at all to exchange towels every day… plus the staff was friendly! If we come back to NY, this will remain a good hotel option for us :)
Unfortunately no cleaning in the room for 7 days or change of linen. Had to ask. There is a microwave but which in my opinion is cleaned very rarely. The positive side hitel not too expensive next to the metro for Manathan 3-4 stops and accessible for people with reduced mobility.
FALSE ADVERTISINGNO SERVICENO REFUNDSNO CONTACTNO INTEREST(EXCEPT FOR THEM!!!)RUN AWAYAttention because we were taken from the 3 (THREE!) nights reserved categorical refusal to reimburse us when we warned by email of the cancellation and this despite their advertising indicating that reservations were only payable when you are on site and would only be debited from the account at this time!! Lies!!!We were obliged to pay the 3 nights in advance by credit card (already recorded on the account!) whereas they indicate that in the event of cancellation only one would be due!!!Its a real shame to take people hostage and make us pay 260€ for NO benefit or service! This is easy money for them, its all profit!! Nice move!! And re-renting a room that has already been paid for is all profit!Above all that:HOTEL UNREACHABLE by phone!!FLEE is a good way to avoid being scammed!!!
They dont answer emails, they dont answer the phone, the person in the office leaves a lot to be desired. It seems like nothing matters to her. They do not clean the rooms. I stayed 3 days and they never came even though they were asked to attend to house keeping in the room. They dont have breakfast. The location is good, it is less than 25 meters from the metro. At night the sector is very quiet but you must be very attentive to the homeless who apparently do nothing but intimidate
BEWARE THEY STEAL YOU!I went on vacation with my wife. During our stay, we left the hotel early and until the evening we returned. On the LAST day, when we returned at night, ALL our purchases and souvenirs that we had acquired were no longer there, I immediately reported it to reception and their response was that they could not do anything, I asked for a number or contact to report and it was the same reply.Unfortunately our flight left very early and we couldnt do anything.AWFUL SERVICE, very basic ROOMS, rigid mattress.
It was a terrible experience because when we entered, my mother and I realized that the beds had not been changed, only the top sheet, under the sheet was wrinkled and full of other peoples hair, many times people do not notice This, luckily for us, my mother works as a housekeeper and she also noticed that there was dust around the edges of the beds, they dont shake, they didnt mop the bathroom either, thats why I give them 1 star and I will never recommend them to anyone....It was a terrible experience because when we entered, my mother and I realized that the beds had not been changed, only the top sheet, under the sheet was wrinkled and full of other peoples hair, many times people do not notice Luckily for us, my mother works as a housekeeper and she also noticed that there was dust around the edges of the beds, they dont shake, the bathroom wasnt mopped either, thats why I give them 1 star and I will never recommend them to anyone ..
To say deficient is an understatement. We had flights from Spain that arrived at 11:00 p.m., so we arrived at the hotel later than midnight. We notified the hotel and they confirmed in writing that there was no problem and that we could check in without problems. But when we arrived the receptionist told us that they had canceled our reservation for arriving later than 12, obviously without notifying us. He was extremely rude and basically told us to either pay + $ 400 more than the price we had booked or to hit the streets. We asked to speak to the Hotel Manager to fix it but it didnt come until the next morning and we had to pay + $ 150 in advance for the night.Luckily you pay at the hotel and not before, so we paid one night and the next day we went to another hotel, since the hotel conditions are terrible. The mattress and pillows are airy and super uncomfortable. The bedding is a super fine duvet cover thrown on top of the bed, without a cover. The low justito.Terrible hotel
I stayed with my wife the last week of November 2021. I had my doubts from the comments I read but it went well for us.It is a new (or renovated) hotel everything looks new. It has a good space. It is not tiny like the pod and other manhattan hotels. It has a full bathroom with a bathtub, hot water and enough towels that were changed every day.The large bed, a desk, a dresser and a closet. Also, views of the Manhattan skyline. The subway stop is on the corner and you dont have to walk almost anything. (Mainly if you come shopping)You have a small refrigerator inside the room (which is always very useful because we like to buy fruit and yogurt) two blocks away there is a Joe coffee (essential) and several well-rated restaurants (which we did not try)They were very emphatic in not doing buya and not smoking which I like. They asked us for a cash deposit of $ 60, which they returned to us when we returned the room.
The environment is very noisy. My room is on the 6th floor, but it is also very noisy. You will hear the sirens on the road and the noise of other rooms on the same floor. Every day, the cleaning staff will play loud music to clean. The room, what I really don’t understand is why you must put out the music without headphones. I think this restaurant is very cheap, but the environment is really noisy, especially the cleaning staff. I really can’t understand why. To put the music out, it also needs to be loud.
It is a kind of renovated motel, which calls your attention for the price but not recommended for families and sensitive people because of the neighborhood where it is located drug addicts on the stairs of the subway in the nearest station. I do not recommend it at all. .

2021-12-13Overall, not a bad hotel. Room was decently clean and came with a fridge which was a nice surprise.Bed and pillows felt like there was a plastic covering underneath so that was a bit uncomfortable at times and made getting into bed kind of loud. The hotel does require a $60 deposit in CASH which is odd, so come prepared for that. They also made it pretty clear if you lose your room key or check out late, youll lose the deposit. I didnt want to cause any trouble so I followed their instructions. The front desk experience I had was pleasant; then again, guess it depends on whos there.Otherwise, pretty new hotel...all updated and modern. Hardwood floors in the room and nice tiling in the shower. Water pressure was strong and hot. Thermostat worked great. Other amenities include an ice machine and the subway station is literally across the street which was very nice. No free breakfast due to Covid.I think Ill stay here again depending on the price. The area is a little sketchy, but thats Long Island for you.

2022-06-21Extremely nice folks that work here. He noticed that I was out of town so he gave us a room with a spectacular view. Extremely clean room, comfortable bed and pillows. Nicely sized tv with everyone you want on the tube. Bathrooms are also very clean and modern. Only thing that was difficult was finding parking, if youre driving in. Had to park nearly a half a mile away from the hotel! But, that is the citys issue. If staying here I recommend taking mass transit. For the price, you arent gonna find much better in NYC. Thank you to the very accommodating staff at Hotel 21 NYC, you made my stay very pleasant.

2021-12-26Nice place for couple nights. Room was clean. No complimentary toiletries but I take my own. Nice girl in the front desk. Was able to check in early like an hour early. But must leave by 11 am or you will lose 60bdollar deposit. Not very clean area but subway is across the street and plenty of places to eat around. I thought it was decent for 80 dollars for Christmas day. But booked 2weeks ahead. 4.5 stars I would give

2022-04-15The beds were clean and bathroom was clean. But everything covered in plastic made for a noisy sleep. Don’t understand why there has to be a $60 cash deposit? The remote was broken and we had to have it replaced . The fridge doesn’t work and our drinks and salads went bad. Complained twice and was told “we have to find a replacement” but they never did. We had to keep reactivating our key card because it “expires daily”. Finally on the fourth day the desk made our card program to keep active till our last day. We were staying 6 days! They only picked up trash once. And there was never any maid service or fresh towels/sheets for our entire stay! The front desk guy was rude on first day, rest of days was someone new every day, and they were as kind and accommodating as possible but the maintenance man was the only helpful one! Location was pretty good considering we had the subway right next door and lots of food vendors to choose from .

2022-04-11*HONEST REVIEW* I stayed here for my birthday from April 8-11 this is a new hotel but it has so much potential the rooms are so cleans and the house keepers really work hard to keep it together they always come by and clean rooms and bring clean towels. It’s so convenient because the subway is right across the street and it’s a few stops away from the the main attractions and shopping centers. It’s a lot of diners coffee and restaurants in walking distance from this hotel it’s a 60$ deposit and sometimes they have issues with reservations so just make sure you callAhead but overall it’s a good hotel for a decent price in a good area

2022-05-10The hotel was really easy to access to the subway, only one block. the Hotel rooms was so clean and quiet. I highly recommend it. I dont know why people is giving a bad review, but I guess theyre haters and against success. The only thing that got my attention was the front desk, the front desk they give poorly customer service, but I think they can do better than that.

2022-04-24Okay**** JUST NOTE**** You need to give a $60 cash deposit on checking in. You can not use a credit or debit card. It is refunded when u leave. I try not to be negative in these reviews, but, facts are facts. The room was really excellent for the money. Good shower, comfortable bed, clean. The neighborhood, or basically the few blocks surrounding are sketchy. There is nothing but a deli and a Dunkin Donuts. Thank goodness, the F train is directly across the street, so you can go anywhere you need.

2022-06-13This hotel was super convenient for my trip. Its literally right across the street from the F train that can take you to all the hot spots in Manhattan as well as Queens, or Brooklyn. The rooms were super clean when we checked in and relieving when I saw a clean room after a day of exploring the city. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to the city.

2022-05-14The room was small. The curtain wasnt long enough in the window. The television wasnt working. The air ventilation machine was turned off manually from the check in office. The location was 👍 great across from the Train Station. The hotel deposit is good.

2022-05-22Hotel 21 NYC and Booking.com gave my husband and me a nightmare experience. On May 9, we booked a room in HOTEL 21 NYC, Queens, New York for two nights (21-23 May 2022), and the reservation was confirmed. I received an email from Booking.com on the 21st May morning at 7:33 indicating that I needed to update my credit card information since it was invalid. I re-entered my credit card information and received an email from Booking.com after an hour claiming that the payment had been denied and that I needed to change my card information. This time I decided to use a different card, and the next email from Booking.com stated that the reservation had been canceled due to a credit card verification failure, and this was before the allotted time of 7 hours to provide my card details that they mentioned in the first email. When I called the hotel (HOTEL 21 NYC) about the cancellation, they said it was done by Booking.com because they couldnt verify the card details and that they might help us re-book the hotel, but at nearly double the price I had paid before (I had paid 256$ and now they were charging 572$). I was furious and decided to phone Booking.com for help. After three attempts at calling customer service, I was finally able to speak with them. When I told them the complete scenario, they stated they couldnt help me since my bank (Bank of America) had refused to release the funds. They also said that after the initial email, I should have phoned my bank to request that the amount the property is billing be released, and that they couldnt do anything because the booking had been cancelled by the property. He said he couldnt do anything when I told him the reservation had been cancelled before the scheduled time and that I am on my way from Providence and would reach the hotel in another 1 hour and could pay directly using my card. Later, he stated he would call the property and confirm my booking at the same price I had paid before after I mentioned that the property manager said it had been cancelled by Booking.com.I was placed on hold, and after a little time, he informed me that the property manager had refused to give at that price, and that I would have to find another hotel. He offered me a list of hotels which he claimed were nearby to my existing hotel and of similar pricing. However, the list he showed me was for hotels that were far away from my current booking location. I couldnt look into any further information because I didnt have time, so I booked the first option, which was a Motel 11 miles from my previous reservation (close to Jamaica). I chose Hotel NYC 21 for its location because it was close to where I needed to go for official business. To my surprise, there was no problem this time when they charged my same credit card, and I didnt even have to contact the bank. This was the pinnacle of maltreatment. At the end of the day, both parties were clearly scheming to rob and harass visitors. When I was in Germany, I used Booking.coms services and was completely satisfied. I can now plainly discern a state of deterrence and deliberate harassment of travelers.
