Hotel 309 in New York
Amazing location of the hotel! Staff was great, very helpful. Room is furnished nicely with with a bit older furniture and the basic things you need, even cutlery and plates and clean. Rooms are mainly with shared bathroom. There is no elevator, but we didnt mind that much. The breakfast could have been better because there is only cheese spread and bread from salty options and muffins, sweet pastry from and jam from sweet ones. Also if its colder outside you cant just sit outside so its the best if you bring it to your room, as the common kitchen is very small. Metro station is very close and you can reach other sides of the city very quickly! P.S. we also have requested the room change and theyve done it the next day, without any problem and organized moving of our belongings while we were out. All in all - good value for money! :)
I paid for 4 nights of good rest - what I got was far from that. The ironic part is that it all started when I arrived and paid for an upgrade to a private queen size bed. The room was shabby with a window unit in place which was letting in massive amounts of air. This meant that during an artic wave the room could not be kept hot and cold air below freezing was coming in.After the second night staff realized they had to do something and removed the AC unit from the room.In addition on the third night no cleaning came to the room which meant that I had to wash in dirty towels and sleep in dirty sheets.I am attaching pictures so you can see the type of room conditions.
The worst hotel Ive ever been to.No elevator. No bathroom in the room. The mattress was way to soft, the kind of mattresses that give a backache. The heating turns off automatically and they provide only one blanket, so when outside is freezing the rooms becomes cold.To top it all the reception doesnt answer to the phone. I easily understand why, they would be submerged by complaints.
Not the best hotel at all, however the price is reflective of that considering the location. I live in NJ and just needed a cheap place to stay for a night and so I really had no choice. If youre alone this place seems fine. If you are looking to really budget and have a hotel in a great location this is fine.Although not dirty my room didnt look the best. The kitchen area could use a better cleaning which is probably the worst place to be dirty. The lobby/concierge area looked pretty unwelcoming. All in all with a tight budget you cant really beat this place. The price you pay is what you get and you should not expect much. Just go in, sleep and wake up.
This place is a dump and doesnt deserve any stars. My back is definitely hurting due to a saggy mattress I had to sleep on in room 32. The rooms are very tiny, and not sanitary at all. I wouldnt wish this on my worst enemy. Dont leave food out, they do have rodents. The whole hotel smelled of pot. The location was great, the price should be dropped. It shouldnt be as much as it is. Be warned. Not a place for kids or a big family.
Clean but stairs weren’t convenient for my recovering sprained ankle and having to have luggage carried, front desk associates very nice and helpful, “free breakfast” is just bagels and watered down orange and cranberry juice. Room was hot, couldn’t draw blinds, and overall would never go here again.
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCEThe hotel is much dirtier than advertised: 3 cockroaches were running around my room, there were stained sheets, and a dirty/smelly bathroom. My room also wreaked of cigarettes. The staff provided one of the absolute worst experiences I’ve ever had. They’re full of disrespectful employees and managers that don’t care one bit about you as a customer. I will never stay here again and stand by opinion of them being a 1 star hotel. There’s so many hotels in NYC and no reason to stay here.
You get what you pay for here, but if a great location at the lowest price is all you care about, its not a bad option. The main reason for the 2-stars is that the room didnt include a bathroom, rather bathrooms were shared on a floor. This wasnt clear when we booked. Their locations great, and itll work if you only need the bare minimum, but my wife and I were pretty upset to find we had to use a shared bathroom. Also, be warned it is a walk-up, no elevator.
SCAMThe hotel it’s pretty disgusting and old. The room was very small dirty and smell like a pub, uncomfortable bed and fake windows. We find out we had to share a bathroom when we got there. No elevator, so we actually had to carry everything till level 5.They show you nice pictures on the add But the reality it’s another story. (SCAM)
I felt right at home at Hotel 309. The location alone was great - subway station and a CVS right on the corner, Rockys Pizza across the street and Think Coffee a short walk away. The courtyard in the back was very cozy, and there was even a ping-pong table and they had their very own cat (Bronx is his name - love that cat!) Great value and the service was fantastic.
This was the worst hotel experience. When we 1st got there the man at the front desk with very rude. We stayed on the 5th floor and the hotel doesnt have elevators. We didnt realize when we book the hotel it was shared bathrooms. (Two on each floor) and they smelled, and only cleaned once a day. When I asked if there were rooms available with bathrooms he said yes they cost a lot, but if you give me $100 Ill get you one. I already paid over $500 for the weekend. And to top it off, the place had roaches, lots of roaches.
Read a bunch of negative reviews after booking and was slightly worried. However, nothing to be worried about at all.The location is excellent as it is about 20 steps from the subway. The hotel provides a microwave and a fridge for food but there is plenty of cheap places around the hotel as well. The breakfast supplied is basic but brilliant. A quick grab and go. Bagels, toast, cereal, crossiants and muffins, with jams, cream cheese and butter. They also supply hot chocolate and coffee. They provide room service whilst you are out, washing all your dishes, providing clean towels and making the bed. The queen sized bed is very comfortable, but they only provide a thin sheet and blanket. They have a cat here called Bronx and he is VERY friendly.I would probably call this a posh hostel rather than a hotel as there is a shared bathroom. But most people staying are respectful of this so its not really a problem.I do have some tips if you do stay here. Keep the curtians closed all the time as the windows are thin and do let in some air, but there is heating so again not really a problem. Another tip being get to the breakfast early - it starts at 7am, there will be nothing left by 11am.If you have a problem with noise after 8am (from other people around the hotel) than this isnt for you. If you like more than three star hotels, do not stay here.
Reasonably priced no-frills rooms with mini fridges, a sink, a TV with basic cable and very firm beds. I gave the low rating because I came to discover after the first two days of my week stay that I have been sharing a room with a rodent. Yes, this little mouse acts quite at home and I would not be surprised if it had friends. On a positive note, I didnt find bedbugs, so that is at least something?
You get what you pay for here. I only paid $175 a night. That is super cheap in Chelsea, but it was budget, budget, budget. I didnt even have my own bathroom. Towels were old, place was generally dirty and sheets were paper thin. Perfect if youre looking for a cheap place with good location!
The Hotel is okay for a low price. Its not so clean and the breakfast is actually no breakfast, but the location is good! ( Near Chelsea Market and High line Park)If I would be the Hotel Owner I would have a talk with the asian guy at the front desk... I never experienced a guy that was that unfriendly! But the rest of the service team was really nice!
We stayed here while moving our daughter into the dorms at NYU. Its a small older hotel. Very small hall ways, but our room did have a bed for is and a sofa futon for our daughter. There was also a small refrigerator in our room for all our restaurant leftovers. It is fairly close to NYU and there is also a lot of restaurants, stores and a subway stop near by. It was our first time staying in Greenwich village in NYC, so it took some getting use to how small the hotel rooms are here and how expensive they are.
The hotel is in a prime location.bonus, i found parking right in front for free on the weekend. now, once inside the hotel, the overwhelming odor of pot was a bit disgusting. Check in was good. The room waa sketchy, worn out, and you can hear the conversations of people on the street. However, the sheets were clean and the beds were ok. And, it was cheap. So overall, if youre looking for a cheap stay, this is ok. If youre fancy, go elsewhere
Location is the reason i selected here. Room is not quite like the picture online. Wifi signal is very bad. Maybe its normal in a new york hotel but i saw a mouse walking in my bathroom this morning. I have very low standards for a hotel, it serves me very well thought.
This was not a good hotel. It is way over priced and the rooms are too small, old and not clean! How do I know? Because in the late night I saw a mouse running near the kitchen and then it ran under my bed. I told staff and they couldnt do anything about it! Terrible place! The free breakfast was only bread, and cereal and Unorganized kitchen area. Dont pay for this place, its not worth it!!!
It is the most horrable Hotel i have Ever Seen , the personal is ok but the Rooms are so Dirty and smal. The bathroom is on the floor and the Toilet too. the wonderful breakfast is on the floor , and you get only dry bread . The other visitors came home at night and they were so loud, they speak so loud on the floor so you can hear every word. If you have 10$ more to spend for a hotel book quickly another Hotel .
Horrible experience. The pictures on their website are misleading. The hotel does not look that good. I arrived and rang the doorbell but had to wait outside for 15 min in the rain before someone buzzed me in. The front desk guy was rude, he did not even say hello or apologize for the wait. He asked for my ID and credit card. When he was done, he just threw them on the counter without a word. Then he told me my room was on the fifth floor with no elevator. I had to climb the stairs with my luggage. The room was dirty and the window wide open, even though it was a cold day. The sheets and covers were like rags, and the pillow and mattress uncomfortable. The heater in my room did not work. When I tried to call the front desk, no one answered.I was shivering all night, their so called blankets were so thin they were no good. I did not know I had to share the bathroom. It was ridiculous having to take your key and put your shoes on to use the toilet. The bathroom was nasty, as was the breakfast lounge. I came in and found two girls sitting there smoking. There was an open bread loaf on the counter and bread crumbs all over the floor. It was so nasty I did not even eat. When I told then the heater in my room, the staff was rude and would not help. The manager had the nerve to ask me what country I was from. He was the rudest human I ever saw.Do not waste your time and money on this dump.
A converted NY walk up, with and without private bath, if you really want the NYC experience i recommend Hotel 309. Enjoyed the stay with my daughter, it was clean, friendly helpful staff. Not the Marriot but that was by choice. Great neighbor hood, coffee truck across the street has the Best NYC coffee. Great pizaa place across the street - yummy.
Marginally fair. Standard room with futon and private bath. It looked narrow and potentially crowded online and it was. Located behind the hotel reception so you heard all the conversations in the hallway. During our second night, the night clerk was carrying on a quite lengthy conversation with her friend on the speaker phone at 2 am in the morning. Ugh. Very hot, radiator could not be turned down so we were forced to keep window open however, then we had to listen to all the street noise. It was during March Madness and it was the only reasonably priced room.
On our last morning, we got woken up by rats eating our M&M chocolates. We warned the desk officer who told us the manager would arrive at 8.At noon, she finally told us the manager doesnt work on the week-end. Apparently the lady didnt care too much about the fact there were rats in her hotel, said she would get back to us by email the week after...Lots of young travelers in the hotel, I could hardly sleep the night before, people were playing ping-pong on the terrace at midnight.Add to this the fact that nobody cleaned the room, neither our towels during our whole 3 days stay, I really dont recommand the place.Disgusting place with no service, stay away!
The room is ok the beds are clean and comfy There is 5 flights of steps no elevator no ice machine no hot food for breakfast, the shower in the bathroom did not work all that well barley got any clean washcloths but the staff is friendly and its right next to the train station
Hotel 309 is a great hotel at a budget price. Its like an apartment experience but be prepared to take the stairs so pack lightly. Be sure to follow their instructions for a check-in. I think theyve approved in the two times Ive stayed there. If youre new to NYC you wont be used to the street noise right away, so be prepared for that.
The location is excellent, staff are friendly, the price was great, and the room is clean enough despite appearances. The place is in dire need of some renovations. The furniture is somewhat dilapidated and the scuffed walls and cabinets make it look dirtier than it really is. Set your expectations appropriately and the place is just fine.
Great low cost hotel, the staff have been really friendly and helpful, helped us carry our big bags up to our room.. Really cool area, less touristy than other places we have stayed in the city, the outside lounge area is great, the free breakfast is a great way to start the day..
This was the nastiest, dirtiest, most disgusting hotel I have ever stepped foot in. The room had NO BATHROOM, which was not mentioned in the room description. Is it just me, or when you book a hotel you expect a bathroom? The only reason I gave it one star was because I couldnt write this review without giving them something, in my opinion negative 10 does not even come close to the description of this place.
My boyfriend Ronald Desir took me there for a romantic weekend we check in Saturday 18th July just before midnight we had a horrible time roach this hotel is bad dont waste money bad experience never again I give one star. We booked for 2 nights they have good reviews trust me its bad.
BEDBUGS!!! Do NOT stay here! I was just in NY on business Wednesday May 31 and I was awoken at 3am with burning itching arms. I found the culprit scurrying across the bed. Not only is it disgusting to be bitten in your sleep, these bugs breed and spread like wildfire and you will end up bringing them home and losing a lot of money, furniture, and sanity.
It is in a place like Manhattan but the rooms do not have a bathroom, toilet. Toilets in the common area. Elements are nice, respectful, rooms are clean. Good location. The price is not bad either. The only bad feature is the lack of toilet in the room. But the room is due to the very old building
Attention ⚠️ !! Very mediocre hotel. No elevator and its quite complicated when you are on the 4th floor. Shared bathrooms and toilets. All this could still happen if the hotel was clean except that it is far from the case! Presence of cockroaches from the front door and the general cleanliness of the floors and bathrooms leaves something to be desired. When in the hotel, considering the smells, I think not everyone is washing in this establishment. Finally, the reception staff is present and you may be lucky that you say hello but not every time. Finally I think a hotel formula 1 next door is the luxury. To avoid at all costs.
We have stayed at this hotel and generally well. The cleaning would say that it is the worst, if they go through the room and do a general cleaning, but it shows that they have not cleaned in depth for a long time. The bed is comfortable, you have the kitchen space, which, as it is not very clean, we do not use it, but the refrigerator. The people who work there are very nice in general and the breakfast more than enough. And the best, the area, is on a street with many locals, we liked El Barrio and we walked to almost everything, both up town and down town.I dont think the price is bad for the prices there.Id come back.
I stayed for 3 nights. The location is near the station, easy to go to Times Square etc.Just the price is dirty. The floor smells and the next room smells of marijuana. The toilet is broken and does not flow. There is a mop and water for cleaning all the time in the corridor.Still I thought it was only cheap and sleeping, but I encountered a big cockroach in the bathroom on the last night. Is it winter? If its just dirty, its bad. I do not want to stay again, and I do not recommend it to those who value cleanliness.Only the location was great.
I leave two stars exclusively for the location. The difference between the rooms as they are seen on Booking and how they actually are is really a lot.Our room was nothing short of dilapidated: all the pipes uncovered with polyurethane foam at the ends, head of the wobbly bed, radiator with a constant annoying noise (which is why we kept it off at night and slept with the jackets on) , that subspecies of conditioning positioned in the window and therefore directly connected with the outside from which cold air constantly enters (which is why I covered it with a towel), suboptimal cleaning, really bad generic condition!I forgot the presence of the cat that feels meowing during the night and early morning. We did not even approach the breakfast for the pure!Only positive: the location and the very nice lady at check out.
For the price !!Well located hotel, close to the metro opposite a bus stop.Staff unwelcoming except for the girl with glasses. Rooms in need of a refresh. Dilapidated piping. But rooms well soundproofed and equipped with a kitchenette. Breakfast to take to the room, little variety (lack of fruit for example).Otherwise for the price it is hardly better ... For the situation and the calm, I validate it
Horrible !!!!! To flee !!!!! Extremely disappointed !!! The toilet / bathroom was very very dirty, never toilet paper. These common rooms were sometimes so badly cleaned that we had to clean ourselves the showers to be able to use them. There were sometimes leftover vomit and feces from other people in the hotel. A lot of dust in the room with a floor that decomposes ... TV not functional. No change of towels or sheets ... (we stayed a week) Room on the 4th floor without straightener. Breakfast unsatisfactory: bread stale one day out of two, and very few choices. On the other hand the location of the hotel really on top.
Room with small kitchen. Condition rather mediocre. Coffee machine in the room was broken but replaced immediately. Service is good. Some of the rooms are permanently rented to questionable figures. We had booked it because someone on booking said that the bad rating no longer applies because the house was renovated. I can not tell from a renovation. Breakfast is also a joke. There is hardly room for 2 people in the kitchen. It is overpriced like any other New York hotel. The location is good. If you only need a place to sleep, you can stay here well. There is no elevator! It is best to call ahead and get a room as far down as possible. The images in Google Maps are not representative.
It is a very regular hotel, they leave you without breakfast even if you are still in time for breakfast, if you stay more than one day do not dream of changing sheets or towels and bathroom cleaning…. Do not even think about it.There is no elevator and the stairs are very steep and dangerous.Dont be weird to find the manager asleep.
There was a mouse in our room. The guard gave us a trap and we brought him the mouse at the reception. We did not get a commercial gesture but we were moved to another room. Hotel old and badly kept. The air conditioning box holds with tape. Unbelievable level of comfort for this price. To flee.
Deplorable hotel !!The rooms are old and they stink. The bedding needs to be changed completely, we slept on the slats of the bed.The staff are terrible !! (the bed in our room had no sheets .. we went to ask reception, if we could have any on our beds .. the receptionist left grimacing in his reserve, took sheets and threw them to us .. we had to make our own bed .. I find that borderline insulting).the breakfast is really not extraordinary, on the other hand the interior courtyard and very nice when the weather is nice. On the other hand, if he can, there is only one table inside, because the breakfast is in a corridor. The only real positive point is the location, although youd better pay more and have a hotel worthy of the name.Last thing to know, if you want to put your suitcases in deposit on the last day, to avoid transporting them all day, it will cost you $ 30 !!!Voila do not make the same mistake, avoid it !!
To flee ...It is a shame to leave this establishment with the reservation !!! The photos do not correspond to reality and this is called false advertising! There may be rooms that have been redone (but I doubt it) but at this time post the right photos so that we know what to expect.See the attached photos, its more meaningful. Its dirty, dilapidated, degraded. In terms of electricity, I work in the field and I wonder how it is possible to leave such an establishment open to the public still open. The staff is more than limit! Breakfast sucks, terrible chemical fruit juice and if you arrive after 8am there will be nothing left. No space to have breakfast indoors.Once the 2nd bed was put across to accommodate the reserved childs bed, there was only 10cm between the wall and the bed to be able to pass!I wont even tell you about the bathroom. We met for breakfast 3 French couples in the same state of depression as us.We of course canceled the rest of the stay for 75 € but it was worth it.Avoid absolutely. The only positive point is the rather pleasant terrace (even if the weather is fine), you should not take a look at the wall covered with a forest of telephone and electric cables worthy of a country under developed!
This hotel is a shame. Other than the excellent location, everything else is changing and it does not even deserve the name of hotel. The bathrooms - common were disgusting just like the linen provided, the breakfast just does not exist (no drinks and packaged cakes from the supermarket!). Finally, the wifi is PAYING and does not work! At 300 € both nights, hard to recommend this hotel! To flee!
+ The unbeatable situation. Full breakfast in cozy interior terrace. Nice and attentive staff. They fixed the faucet of the shower that was broken.- Room for 4 on the ground floor, without any possible ventilation, and after 4 nights the room was unresponsive. One of the double beds is a sofa bed, hard as a table.Excess price for the quality of the hotel. More than $ 200 a night for a very narrow room for 4 is too much.
I practice to spend one or several nights and accessible to the pocket of the traveler and located in a perfect place to go to the different attractions. In my case I have a shared bathroom I thought it was the worst but I have not had bad guests with whom I share ... the hotel works for me 😁
Very good hotel in relation quality price, although the bathrooms are shared are always clean and are available, they are 2 per floor, there is no elevator, it includes breakfast, it is basic but good, the staff is very very friendly, the comfortable bed and the / C cools, the location in Chelsea is unbeatable near multiple subway stations and Lots of food venues

2022-05-14Definitely 3 stars or a little less. Upon arrival the first impression isn’t great as it has no signage and it looks like an apartment building. (See picture)My room was clean and all rooms have window A/C units… There was no desk in my room, and only basic liquid soaps provided.Location is central and staff is kind.

2022-05-27A decent hotel. Room was clean, but with weaknesses such as broken shower door handle. Location is great, but the hotel itself isnt beautiful. Go here if you like price and location -- but dont go here for the hotel itself.

2020-01-14Perfect for what we were looking for! The don’t have an elevator so be ready to carry your baggage upstairs. The only issue we had was some mornings there was no hot water but it sounded like they had some problems with the hot water heaters. Don’t know if it’s an ongoing issue. They are right off the subway line so getting around was very easy and convenient. If you’re expecting something grand, look elsewhere. This is a hostel style place. You can get a room with or without a bathroom. We chose one with a bathroom. It was a tad rundown but they kept it clean and provided everything we needed. Would definitely stay again if I visit the Chelsea area in the future.

2019-11-26Rooms nice clean, toilet and shower is on corridor. Hotel have small place for breakfast . Breakfast is basic coffee, machine for toast bread, marmalade, soft cheese etc. Big plus for reception staff special thanks to lady from Dominican republic for good guides on NYC and free tickets for some attractions. Only what I didnt like was heating what was bit loud. A near is metro and few restaurants what is handy.

2019-01-24This hotel is wonderful for the price. The rooms are basically studio apartments. Plates, cups, silverware, coffee, and a fridge are all provided. Front desk staff is great and helped us out. Call me home alone 2 because I was lost in New York! Very close to the subway exit which is lovely
