Hotel Edison in New York
Good News too those Adams Family fans waiting for there new movie...the wait is over as this hotel is probably managed by the them.HygieneOne word disgusting....we originally entered the room to the world most awful smell we changed rooms to see that the bathroom was not yet cleanedSafetyWe changed rooms many times and most rooms...the bathroom door doesnt close properly the safe usually doesnt work and for God knows why the safety fire instructions are removed the only positive thing one could say is that security men checks before you are in the elevator that you are a guestFront deskI know most of you parents readings this have kids who wanted to go to theme park instead of going to the big city. Worry not the front desk line will give you the same experience. Each time you need anything you have to wait at least 10 min and most of the time the answer is like we are prisoners. We asked to check out earlier they said sorry we will charge you but you can change rooms ( we booked free cancellation) we had to spend hours with booking.com just to make sure the night we checked out after one of the worst experience will be refunded. Yes they did to change rooms but if Im fare most are worse than the one we had it felt like either they are keeping good rooms for special guests or all rooms are extremely bad.Grab and Go BreakfastFood was eatable but usually cold. Any breakfast on the street with 10$ should do a better jobOverall roomSimply unless the Adams family did the rating this is no way in hell a 4 star hotel.BellmenIm not sure if its a Mafia or something else but you dont have to even believe me. Once you enter you will see the majority carrying there own luggage thats because the bellmen will be extremely rude even after you tip him you will find him telling you that its not enough he wants more. But there was one gentleman who was friendly but I definitely dont remember his name sorryThe only good thing I could say is the housekeeping was friendly and the security checkpoint before the elevator to make sure everyone has a key. The location is in the middle of times Square yes but definitely not worth itIn summaryWhen we finally escaped to check in to a near by hotel I felt like singing along withUrsula form the little mermaid those poor unfortunate souls as I saw people checking in. As a person who travels a lot being a gold or platinum member in most chains or website I strongly advice to AVOID AT ALL COST. If I could give a negative rating I would honestly do as I think one star is fare to generous for my experienceSpecially thanks to booking.com for there help it was really the worst ever hotel experience for meIf any of the hotel staff is reading this we toke videos and photos of each disgusting thing in each room we shared it with booking.com and if Google here supported videos in review I would definitely post it
Staff was not the most enthusiastic to greet you. We booked online with an upgrade request, hotel didnt honor this. Our room was small and old looking, very disappointed. Bathroom was extremely small, hard to move around. Requested an upgrade even after we showed we had paid for an upgrade. Were told its issues with Booking.comWe were given a room slightly bigger, charged $75 extra for the upgrade plus charged again for incidentals.. The upgrade was not the greatest from what we saw pictured online, room looked nothing like what was advertised. Housekeeping missed a day to clean our room. We called front desk and immediately they sent someone in to clean. Breakfast is only free if you stop in for pick up and go, dine in is $5 a person with your voucher, and a mediocre menu that offers little. Great location in Times Square, no parking included. We will not stay in this hotel again.
I had a room in third floor and looked very old and poor condition overall. Wall paper loose, paint chipped door, brown rusty bathtub. I asked front desk if they could please move me to an upgraded room as is displayed on website. They accommodated without a fuss. Rest of stay was wonderful. Great location I’m Times Square. Free breakfast with out stay, pretty good. It was a grab and station. I’d you want a sit down breakfast then it will cost additional 5 dollars.
We stayed here for 5 days and it was incredible. The Family Room (2204) had the most amazing view of Times Square. Also, its the best location and access to all the action and fun. They also clean your room DAILY! Free breakfast and great people. Ill be staying here every time we visit NYC.
Decent hotel for the price. The only nice employee I came across was from housekeeping. Bed and bathroom were clean. Besides that, remotes, telephone and other areas of room could use cleaning. Housekeeping came every day. Grab and go breakfast was about 2 stars in my opinion. Again, given the price it was not that bad. Location is convenient, right down the block from tkts booth and stairs. Would stay here again.
4 nights, May 2022. Good location in Times Square area. Everyone we encountered on the staff was friendly and helpful. This older hotel has a nice art deco style, but the room was on the small side, and the bathroom was tight. Room lighting could have been better. Bed was comfortable. For our purposes, the location was the most important factor, so we were satisfied with the hotel and the value.
Stayed at 15th floor. Loved the experience, the free breakfast that has a lot of variety, and the aesthetic of the entire hotel. Really easy and quick access to the front desk, they helped me with everything such as bringing up toothbrush and water bottles. The fitness center was a nice experience, barely any people there. BUT! That one missing star goes to the fact that the first night there I noticed a dead caterpillar at the night stand and a few flies. Wasn’t a bother but would have been nice if it wasn’t there.
I just had one of the best hotel stays Ive every had at a hotel. The hotel is so well run and the entire staff was attentive and super friendly. ROMMEL is absolutely amazing and one of the nicest and most helpful people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. He helped guide me to things I needed and made sure my accommodations were just right. The location of the hotel is perfect. Right off of Times Square, but not in the middle of the Chaos. Its also so easy to get to Hells Kitchen in just a few minute walk where you can eat at better restaurants where the local New Yorkers eat. ( BUT you must eat at Friedmans at the hotel itself - they have good light fare food and a great bar )Lastly. the subway is easy to catch from right there to get to all the amazing parts of Manhattan, Queens, The Bronx and Brooklyn. I cant wait to stay there again. This hotel will now be my first choice when visiting NYC.
I would summarize as cheap and cheerful, you get what you pay for. At $230 a night you get a very small room barely enough room for a couple of large suitcases it’s that small. The included breakfast doesn’t let you sit down, you have to pay extra for that. The obvious benefit is location and convenience. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. It’s a very busy hotel.
I stayed at this hotel and on initial entry the smell of weed was quiet overpowering which was very disappointing as I thought the location was very good. The food was good but pricey as was the bar . The staff were very friendly and welcoming which I found exceptionally. The room was very dated and had no queen bed which i was promised on my booking, the radiator was like something off home alone as it was noisey constantly. The view was exceptional if you like looking at concrete. All in all below average for what I paid understanding that I was in new york still was below par for the money 💰. Shame really as the location was brilliant
I couldnt get out of this hotel fast enough. Ive read some reviews that say modern or updated rooms, but clearly I didnt get one of those nor do I believe they even exist. Those must all be false reviews. My room had rust all around the bathroom, patched up walls and ceilings, an old particle board dresser that had clearly suffered water damage and probably came from Goodwill. The bathroom was something youd find in an RV where the Shower hung over the toilet with no Tub, glass or anything, essentially a big wet area for toilet and shower and sink which was unmanageable because the large door swung inwards and blocked the sink completely. The A/C didnt work, but they did at least fix that. They tout a free breakfast and then gave me a hard time about a simple Black Coffee refill, saying they should charge me for it. And that breakfast is pretty awful, old stale bagels! The ice maker didnt work on my floor either.Location was great, but my 3rd floor room was not well insulated from noise, so I was constantly woken by any vehicle or motorcycle that was remotely loud all night long. This was how I envision a jail cell more than a hotel. I would NEVER stay here again.
First time staying at the Edison. Had a wonderful experience and would recommend it. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Great location. Chose this hotel because we were in town to see a show and is located in the theater district. It is an older hotel however that is what gives it its charm and beauty. It was nice to experience classic New York.
Positive: They let us check in early though they charged us $89 for the privilege. The location is great. Its very central to a lot of things and less than a block off of Times Square. The shuttle was convenient. Housekeeping very efficient and nice. Negative: No complimentary coffee in rooms or downstairs. Breakfast awful, vouchers given, only able to choose 1 thing&one drink. No microwave or fridge in rooms, had to go out for every meal/expensive!Staff not friendly or helpful. Charged for everything extra.
Positive: Superbly clean, the staff was beyond outstanding... helpful friendly and professional, especially the security supervisor. The location is PERFECT for Times Square and the Theatre District. Rooms are small, but very nice. Negative: No. It was the perfect option for our NYC vacation.
We were moved to the Edison by our travel agent and after reading the reviews I spent hours trying to move. After several phone calls we finally managed to secure a signature room.Room fine, yes small but bathroom modern and room always cleaned.Had breakfast vouchers but never used them.Location wise yes great if you like shows and times Square minutes away. Personally not for us.View was dreadful and noise from outside AC units was unreal.Staff all very nice.Would never stay there again only due to location being so close to Times Square and the noise.
Hotel has a very nice, classic feel. Rooms are quite spacious for the location and price point. It does feel like an old building and soundproofing and such isnt amazing, but it compared quite favorably to my colleagues descriptions of their hotels in the same area and price point.
Only good thing about the hotel is the location. Dont believe the room pictures. Your room will not look like that. Also, if you want a working TV or electrical plugs apparently you need to ask for them. We were moved to a second room and promised a good view. Opened the window to scaffolding. Not a fan.
It is a great location. Its next to all the theaters and Times Square. The train stations are close so it is easy to travel. The lobby looks beautiful and they give you food vouchers for grab and go breakfast in the morning. The cleaners are so lovely and sweet and respect when to clean your hotel room. The cons: they sent a driver to our airport as a complimentary service, the driver was not wearing a mask and he told us we shouldn’t, but then was coughing the whole trip. We jumped out when we got there and a cop yelled at the driver that he’s not supposed to stop there. Idk if that’s typical NY but it was chaotic to say the least. The lobby is pretty but the hotel room has a small bathroom and when we turned on the room’s heater it sputtered and cranked loudly as it turned on. The lines to dine in are long but the food is delicious. Overall it was a good time and a little bit meh. Hotel Edison is in a nice location and worth going, just know that it won’t exceed expectations.
Great place to stay in NYC. Perfect location to stay when seeing Broadway shows. Steps away from the TKS booth and theaters. You can leave the room, pick a show and be in your seats in minutes. We love the art deco theme. Doormen and the staff are great. We have stayed many times. Every so often we stay at a larger chain and it just doesnt have the same feel. We always go back to the Edison.
We had the worst experience staying here. It was our first stay in New York city so we wanted to make it memorable. Got a corner room with no view but it was fine since we had to stay just for 1 night and had a baby so we expected to get a corner room. Rooms were dark, dirty, smelly and sheets were torn. No amenities included like fridge, microwave or coffee maker. Asked for a microwave I was told to pay 30 dollars. Bathroom small, no hand wash provided. Bathroom basin was clogged. The worst thing was the room heater/ac, it was so noisy that we could not sleep. Very disappointing. Just satisfied with the fact that it was close to Times Square.
This was maybe a 4 star hotel in 1920 but it’s at best a 2 star hotel now. The rooms are so cramped that in the bathroom you have to sit sideways on the toilet to use it. The room cleaning staff though were fantastic and deserve 5 stars. The restaurant downstairs is at best an upscale Olive Garden version of an Italian Restaurant. I travel very often for work and this was one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed at. Just old, unkept and disappointing.
Hotel Edison has the best localization in Manhattan, next to the red stair - Time Square - That allows you to go to many city attractions by foot.If you want to receive a package, they handle the boxes for free. The breakfast is not a lot, but is good. So, if you are looking for a hotel with a great cost-benefit relation... this is the best!
The Hotel Edison is our go to hotel when we are in Manhattan. It is reasonably priced, as close to Times Square as you care to be.... Walking distance to more things than you can do in a week. We really love and enjoy the Art Deco elements and architecture.Yes, the rooms are small.... But every hotel room in NYC is small. We just need a safe, warm comfortable room to settle into at the end of a long day of exploration. The staff is very professional, courteous and helpful.Love the bar.......
The pictures we saw of our hotel was very misleading and looked nothing like what we got. The bathroom had a horrible smell when we came into our room and it didn’t even have an air vent that takes the smell away. Also at night, when one of my kids took out the plug of a lamp on an outlet, the outlet blew up. This was very dangerous and we had to call the staff to come check it and fix the outlet. In the morning, when we went to get our breakfast we were only able to get 2 egg sandwiches for a family of four. We were expecting more since our reservation had included free breakfast. Overall, this hotel did NOT feel like a four star hotel and I will never come back to this hotel again. The only good thing I would say about this hotel is the location.
Positive: Staff was very nice. Hotel location is perfect if you want to be in times square. Negative: Bathroom is tiny. Shower leaks all over the bathroom. Toilet is very low and small. Wedged between sink and wall. We had to open the bathroom door to attempt to wipe ourselves. No staff knew about daily free breakfast for two that was advertised.
Lobby/ Front desk area is extremely busy. It was so busy it took me until after 10pm to resolve my valet parking problem. The hotel itself was nice, clean, and great location. My issue with my stay was with the valet staff. I kept telling them I did not get a ticket for my car and I needed the ticket number. I was continually told I was given the ticket we have been doing this for 25 years and why wouldn’t I get my ticket. I will not stay here again because the golden rule is the customer is always right. And in my case I was right. I have never experienced such rudeness at a hotel.
If I could give a zero stars, I would! They don’t know nothing about policies! The hotel room’s phone number never worked! The instructions on it are wrong and I have to use my phone all the time to call if I need a service! Also, I was caring for children. They wanted me to have a key card to show before going to the elevator even after calling my client room number who confirmed on the phone I was here to care for the children. They should have people to escort to their guess or at list select the floor number they are going to so to not bother the guess to come all the way down to get me while I stand there for a while ans they don’t even have a couch in the reception to sit and wait! I have been going there for this entire week, and this is ridiculously. I don’t like the way it operates, I have been to the Dominick hotel which was much better! Also, they have a restaurant called Bond45, they served me a veal that had a sour tomato sauce cooked inside of it, pasta was horribly sour no taste! I won’t recommend this hotel to anyone at all!Room are too small, you only get a double size bed even if you are two people, both of you will share a double bed, not a rough room at all! Bathroom is tiny! Customer service are rude, not friendly!
The hotel it’s self was decent. Old fashioned decor(intentionally) which was fun. Staff was very friendly. Location can’t be beat. My three chief complaints are relatively big ones though in terms of our enjoying our stay but I can only fault them for two since we knew one in advance - which is no mini fridge. There was plenty of space for one so this is an easy key upgrade. The two things that made me take stars off are the size of the bathroom (tiny to the point of difficult To use) and incredibly poor AC .. our room was never able to get below 72 and in fact we found it cooler to get the breeze from the windows than the AC unit which if you’ve been to NY you know that is saying something. In location restaurant had a minimal menu that was over priced but the food was good so I will call that a draw. Did charge us a random $30 facility fee at check in despite is prepaying so unsure why that wasn’t included when we booked …All in all it wouldn’t be my first pick but for the location it was a good value option.
This is based on my experience and stay in the hotel march 2022, my room 3 floor the bathroom in particular had a noise in the bathroom I reported to the front desk they did not went to fix it what is cleaning of the room everything was fine. The heater at night was making a noise when turning on and off, but we decided dont use it. Breakfast if you share a room with two beds and there are three people in the room they only give you tickets for two breakfasts are completely rubbish you can only choose a fruit, yogurt, or sandwich for drink either water, coffee or juice completely disagree with this because they do not inform you when you go to enter the menu I really do not know if I would stay with them again.
If you’re looking for a hotel that’s value for money, this place is not what you’re looking for. Although the location was good, the facilities and room were extremely old and run down. Aircon wasn’t working well, towels were dirty, toilet smelled bad, carpet floor was EXTREMELY dusty. Most importantly, there were loud pipe sounds coming from the toilet which disrupted mysleep. The quality one would get here is definitely not worth the price paid.
I went to NYC the first time for a solo trip and stayed my week at Hotel Edison after considering it’s location, services, rates, reviews & photos. My experience had matched my expectations with staff being very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Stayed in their signature room, and it was above and beyond. Definitely recommend!
The Edison is an ok old historic hotel in a great location, only blocks from Broadway and Times Square. The rooms are small with few appointments, and the bathroom very tiny. The staff was great however. Id stay there again, because I think this is standard fare for an old, big city. Im just used to better, thats all.
Good Hotel for location as its a stones throw from time square. The room was slightly dated but very clean so cant really ask for more unless you like to spend a lot of awake time in the room. The lobby can be very busy but this is to be expected for NYC at Christmas. Overall I would stay again no problem.
This is an old hotel, the rooms and bathroom were small but clean and overall a great place to stay. You are steps away from Time Square. The price for this location is a great deal. A couple restaurants connected to the hotel. The staff is great, location is great, and a safe area to stay in.
Lots of changes and upgrades have been made recently to this hotel which we have stayed at many times- great location and decent price for a no frills stay! Marco the Doorman was the best part of our stay as he always had wonderful recommendations on restaurants and places to go!! He is awesome and we would return just because of him!!!
Possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Avoid this at all costs. The hotel lobby itself is super charming but the rooms are small, dated, completely unclean and management is incredibly unhelpful. After our luggage was brought up to our room our bell hop turned all the lights on and noticed that our bathroom was covered in mud his response was “oh that’s weird” and he left without saying a word. My wife, who didn’t want to complain pulled out the cleaning wipes we brought with us and immediately cleaned our bathroom. Outside of this our room looked nothing like the photos, the wallpaper was stained and sagging where it looked like the desk once was, which now it was moved next to the bed and half blocking the bathroom door. Our hot water worked exactly once during our entire stay so I haven’t showed In the 3 days we’ve been here. But by far the cherry on top was that someone came into our room and moved a bunch of our personal belongings around. Every hotel we stay at we leave the do not disturb sign on the door because my wife is terrified of someone coming through our stuff. Today that nightmare became real. We came back from a show to find the DND sign missing from our door and our room was cleaned entirely. Which would be nice if it wasn’t apparent that someone went through our stuff. My wife’s socks, shoes and underwear were moved around, our bags of purchase that we made during our trip were rearranged, things folded up and moved. Luckily our suitcase has a lock on it however that was also moved. I went down to the front desk to report it to management because frankly it’s mortifying that this would even happen and the manager disappeared the first second she could get. I was instructed to talk to head of security who made me fill out an incident report as to what happened. They said they would pull the cameras (there’s no camera near our room) and called the head of housekeeping over. While speaking to him I was told that the house keeper saw that our sign was set to please service (it wasn’t, this side of the sign is on the opposite side of the door). I was also told that no one went through our stuff. Which is just a straight up lie. When I spoke to him I told him that our sign hasn’t moved on the door so either their house keeping hasn’t serviced a room in 2 days that had a please service sign on it or they ignored the do not disturb sign all together and they went through my stuff. Even more concerning is that the head of security at this point who had been sympathetic changed her tune entirely and acted like she was trying to mediate two children. I’ve never had more inconsiderate and horrible service. If you’re wondering what they did about all of this the answer is nothing.I was told that because we check out tomorrow there’s nothing they can do. I guess the goal of this hotel is do as little as possible, gaslight your customers and then potentially steal from them on their last day because “there’s nothing we can do when you check out tomorrow.”Absolutely abysmal.
Pros-The hotel was beautiful and clean.. The staff was wonderful.. Very close to the theater we were going to and right off of Times Square... The room was a little cozy but it was clean, the bed was comfortable and it had a private bathroom...Cons- The Grab & Go breakfast wasnt good at all...Would I return?... Absolutely!
The Hotel was perfect!!! Stayed in a newly renovated room on the 22nd floor it was awesome!!! Location wow!!! Went to Hamilton walked 30 feet, went to MJ the musical walked 4 blocks, went to Harry Potter walked 2 blocks oh and Time Square 50 Yards away for real. The staff the hotel the whole experience was an A+++ price was Awesome too!!! Tanks Hotel Edison you have a quest for life.
The room was absolutely covered in bedbugs. I woke up to them crawling in the sheets, on the pillow, and one or two were jumping around on the bedside table! Absolutely disgusting. The lobby is nice, everything apart from that is a shambles. Oh, they also charge $31 a night ‘resort fees’, which is actually illegal by state law and hotels are currently being taken to court and sued over this, I hope this hotel is one of them. Would never stay here again. The front of the building is completely covered in scaffolding too.
Reserved through a 3 rd party Hotel Tonight) and you get treated like a third rate customer. Reserved a king size bed. Room had a full size bed. Called the front desk three times and told the manager would get right back to me. No one called. Front desk was unsympathetic that a 6’5 man was sleeping in a full size bed. Rooms are very small, but I already knew that. Shower is modern and updated but floods the bathroom floor. Rude elevator/security staff. No wifi access even tho you are charged a $30/day service fee. Was marketed with. Breakfast ever day. We only recd a breakfast coupon for one day. When I brought it to the attention of another front desk receptionist he said “o they probably saw hotel tonight “. I said “Yes third party patrons areAlways treated poorly “. The waitress in Friedman Restaurant was delightful tho! The location is great so ifYou go with no expectations and accept what they offer this is the place to be. Also Hotel Tonjbbt states the amenities of the hotel when you book. Then the hotel sends an emailSaying there is an additional $32/day charge for these amenities.
The hotel was not the best to be honest. The decor was very dated with wallpaper actually coming off the wall. The first room we were given, had a flood in the bathroom so we were moved. We had paid for full breakfast for the duration of our stay which they refused to provide. Instead they provided us with a voucher for a $5 breakfast which in reality cost us $12.50 each morning for breakfast with tax, gratuities etc. Not happy!!The cleaning and door staff were excellent. We cannot recommend this hotel.
Positive: This hotel is in the center of Time Square and very accessible to every placethat I wanted to go to. Negative: I like the hotel. But I didn¿t enjoy the shower. I was taking a shower with hot water but after a few mins, the water turned so cold that I had to adjust it to make it hot again, then it turned so hot I had to adjust and I almost slipped!
Hotel was okayyyyyy. Would come back only because the location was good.First room they gave us was shocking bad, carpets lifting up and wallpaper peeling at the edges; looked horrible. But we were quickly changed to a different, slightly better room. Room was average, nothing to shout about. The heater was SO loud tho, had to talk very loudly over it.Breakfast included in the hotel was very good but there was no alternative milk options (soya, oat etc.) only different variations of cows milk, quite disappointing. But the food as very good, AMAZING scrambled eggs.
Someone walked into our room without permission at 5pm. We were very upset and spoke with the manager. He proceeded to tell me the supervisor of housekeeping was walking in to deliver a shower cap. We did NOT call for one AND we had one in the bathroom. The manager, in a VERY condescending, nasty tone, said “ well she didn’t see what you and your husband were doing. You really need to have the do not disturb sign on the door.” 2 hours after I check in I need to feel the only way to keep strangers out of a private room is to hang a sign on my door??” No apology from the manager. I was treated HORRIBLY. I also made it a point to look around the hallways and took pics of ALL of the rooms without signs on their doors in the evening. I an trying to call corporate as we speak. We were VIOLATED.
I booked a reservation with Hotel Edison back in early 2022, for April 13-16, 2022. I cancelled it shortly there-after, and was assigned a cancellation confirmation code. On April 12, I received an email stating that they were looking forward to my stay. I called the front desk to confirm that my reservation had in fact been cancelled, which the gentleman on the phone assured me it was. Today, 4/25, I was looking over my credit card statement and see that I was charged $585 from Hotel Edison on April 13. I called promptly, and was told that NO ONE could handle my issue and that I had to write an email, which should hopefully be responded to within 48 hours. This is beyond unacceptable. I have been wrongly charged, and am being given the run around in getting my money refunded to me. I followed all of the steps to cancel correctly, and have all of the confirmation codes to prove it.Do not waste your time with a hotel that clearly cant keep track of its billing and reservations.
First things first put this on booking.com which I will never doagainbooking.com lies about their advertisement none of the pictures showing on booking.com was the actual rooms. I had to upgrade to a nicer room it was not a nicer room which was not a nice room the carpets were worn the bed was lumpy the bathroom was small the heater made no worries night long our view was other of a brick wall and a flashing sign. The breakfast I was offered was a skimpy low-grade breakfast I had to upgrade the breakfast for a sit down was five dollars a person which menu was even skimpier. Hotel staff was not very helpful front desk agent was was very nonchalant and rude. Hotel night manager which help me with my upgrade was polite and helpful only bright spot. The location was great but the hotel and it’s amenities are dated I need serious upgrade it reminds of a Atlantic City crackhead motel I’m Pacific Avenue. I will not recommend this to anyone looking for a room to spend the weekend in New York I am a veteran of the hotel industry and this does not qualify for even one star looking.com‘s description and the description on the hotel Edison website is very deceiving I was not impressed one bit more disgusted the hotel needs a serious remodeling.
Very central to everything you need in manhattenStaff very friendly hotel clean and rooms spacious. The only down side was breakfast was grab and go which was not mentioned in the booking and the breakfast consisted of 1 item and 1 drink. If you choose the egg bacon sausage sandwich they were freezing cold. Also if you didnt get down around 8 there were big Qs
After purchasing a room and then forcibly upgraded to pay an additional 100 dollars I realized this place was a mistake. They probably wouldnt have roaches and rats if the restaurant attached actually served fresh food on time. If you dont mind paying premium prices for a facade of luxury and the quality of sleeping in the gutter this is the place for you.
Amazing location so central for where I needed to be. The staff are welcoming especially the ones on the desk that help with booking tickets. I was left down with my hotel shuttle transfer and they sorted me out so quickly. My room however was awful it was so dark with only a dim bedside light and the main light was above the door and just didn’t light the room. No one explained on check in how the Wi-Fi works but are happy to explain that it is included in the resort fee. It would have been nice for them to say how to access it. Right outside my window were some extremely noisy fans so I got very little sleep as it was just so noisy. If you ever get room 738ask to move I wish I had.
Room as others have said are dated and could be better looked after maintenance wise. But we found them ok as we litrally crashed in them to sleep and get ready for next day. Rooms where always really clean every day we got back. Only had the grab and go breakfast which was good. Service was great when we needed it. Location is spot on right next to times square and easy access to subway for getting down town. If your looking for perfect rooms then either pay for the upgraded one or look somewhere else. Its all you need is a room to sleep in then it great.
First room outdated and TV didnt work. But very clean. We really only used the room to sleep and shower in.Got moved to the 16th floor on day four. Again the room was very clean. House keeping are a credit to the hotel. Room alot smaller, but plenty of space to live out of while seeing the sites of New York. Decent view and tv worked. The air-conditioning in both rooms was really noisy, so we had to put it off at night. We put it back on during the day when we werent it so it was nice and cool when we got back to the room. Its an old hotel so the air-conditioning is an add on.We got the grab and go breakfast everyday in Bar 45, very handy and tasty. Had dinner in Friedmans once, didnt go back. The pizza and cobs at carve were excellent.Altogether a great hotel, 95 percent of the staff were really attentive. I would definitely recommend.
I stayed at the Edison from 6/12/22 - 6/17/22. Although it was in a great, convenient location as it was only three blocks from my office, I was not entirely satisfied with the room, it was the size of a matchbox. All of the hotel staff members were courteous and helpful during my stay. You will be asked by the security if you have a room key before you are allowed up, which is great. Apparently they have begun to lock one of the entrances (46th Street) very early, so make sure you find out what time this is so you dont have to walk all the way around the block at 11pm like I did.As previously stated the room was a matchbox and while the room has been upgraded, the bed (king size) and pillows were comfortable, the room (1922) has NO VIEW. The shower has a partial glass and the floor will get wet when you shower. The bathroom was super hard to move around, especially if you have two people in the room, no way.I was super nervous one night as I had to hold a video conference from my room with 10 participants and I did not want it to drop as I was the host, but the wifi stayed connected throughout. So thats a plus!I was provided with breakfast coupons for a very small selection of items. I would not recommend the free breakfast, as the grab and go breakfast was extremely cold (sausage and egg sandwich). There is an upcharge of $5.00 for the plated breakfast that you have to sit down for and, despite the upcharge, it is not worth the wait or the money since you will leave hungry.Overall, I found the stay to be disappointing.
I was put in room 915/17. Both rooms were directly in front of scaffolding. Every morning we were awoke by drilling and hammering. It was extremely loud! When I did call to get another room I was met with “there are no more rooms but we can credit you for two days of the resort fee” not at all helpful. When there was another room available it was our last day there and we had to get up early to check out anyway. Rooms like this should not be sold. It was extremely greedy and inconsiderate of Edison to do this. If I could have I would have changed hotels all together, unfortunately that was not financially feasible. Needless to say we will not stay at the Edison Hotel ever again.
We arrived to the hotel from a late flight and upon checking in discovered that the hotel-booking app muddled up our reservations. Being that we were in NY to celebrate my daughters bday, this definitely was not the way we wanted to begin our celebration. The hotel manager (Shonda) immediately assisted us and upgraded our stay. They gave us our room and vouchers for breakfast for the entire stay. The attention from the front desk and doormen were very courteous and from everyone on staff. The hotel room was vintage yet extremely clean and the beds were amazingly comfy. Really recommend the Edison, the customer service alone is well worth it! Thank you Shonda, Rommel, and Danny for making our stay incredible!
OkThe restoration in the rooms and lobby is well done in vision and craftsmanship.HOWEVER..........the rooms have N. O. T. H. I. N. G. in them:........ Zero vanity - you will use the floor to lay out your toiletries...........Zero drawers for your clothing - you will use the floor and make piles of clothes to organize your wardrobe..........Borderline Zero closet - ok you get a small closetThe posture of the hotel is......So, you want to be near Broadway and Times Square? OK. For lots of money per night, well give you a human closet to sleep in.I would give this experience a 1, but the cleanliness and attractive restoration compelled me to go to a 2 star.Pretty sure you can get more for your money elsewhere.
Hotel very well located on Broadway. Very helpful and friendly staff. On the other hand, two scandalous practices should be highlighted. The breakfast is ridiculous, a total lack of respect for the customer. You have to go downstairs to choose three items from a buffet and return to eat them in your room, at the risk of paying a surcharge at the restaurant...But above all, the most serious thing is that they charge an amount (for us, 240.00 dollars) as a guarantee deposit refundable on card one week after departure. This was never returned to us! They argued a difference in accounting practice between our country (Switzerland) and the USA... All the emails exchanged with them disappeared from my mailbox one day! We will never return to this hotel and urge all readers to beware.
Service was great. Rooms were clean and neat. The best part is the location!!! It is a minute, or so, from Times Square. It is in walking distance to most attractions, numerous restaurants, nightlife, etc. I also appreciated the extra security. You have to show your room card to acess the elevators. Then, scan the card, for the elevator to take you to your floor. And, once more for the room. They have lots of workers 24/7, cameras, etc. My only complaint... not too bad.... the electricity on 1 wall didnt work. So, no TV or outlets/USB chargers (on that wall.) I used the other side to charge my phone. I was too tired to care. I never reported it, and I cant say I missed it, either. I liked the hotel. For 2, single, female tourists, the important amentities were met.... Comfortable, clean and felt safe. I loved the location. Overall, great place to stay. I would stay here, again!
I went here for a best friends bachelorette party, it was poor customer service from the start, we requesting fridges and we never got them. Also we were obviously celebrating since the bride had on white and we all had on sashes going out night two. Bouncer at the hotel edision bar wouldn’t let the bride and half the party in. I noticed and went to check on them and notify the party that was allowed in. Bouncer gave me an attitude and said they were maxed out after just allowing me in. And took me to the front, where he was checking IDs and letting random strangers in after saying they were maxed out!!!!! And we were actual hotel guests. Would not recommend due to the awful customer service here.
Room too small . It doesn’t have any drawers .when I ask to change the room the other room had the mattress all in bad shape . I have to leave all my clothes in my bag.Bathroom clogged. Everything is old is not like the pictures. Breakfast is horrible they give a voucher to change it for a sandwich and coffee .The only good thing is the location. No vayan a este hotel todo viejo . No es como las fotos lo único bueno es la ubicación y también hay bares en el mismo hotel.
Its not often I leave 1 star reviews but potential guest should know what to expect.Four months ago I booked a Suite with a terrace for a surpise anniverasy trip for my wife and I, upon getting to hotel we were told our room wasnt availible due to the previous guests trashing the terrace and they hadnt sorted it out yet, but it would be ready by 12pm tomorrow. We were asked to spend 1 night in a room without a terrace, we werent happy but we were tired and agreed. We were told charges would be removed from the bill ($142.36 to be exact, too bad the price difference between the room we paid for and the room we got was closer to $200) but we had to checkout the following morning and check back in after 12pm.So now my pregant wife and I had to bring down our suitcases ourselves, check out before 10am and PAY to leave our bags at the bag check (only $3 but I still cant believe it, especially when the bag checker expected a tip for wheeling the bags 12 feet...).We went out for the morning and returned at 2pm to be told we couldnt check in until 3pm becuase the previous guests hadnt left yet...we explained that wasnt what we were told. We complained and suddenly a room was avaible, a room with a dirty terrace, the terrace door didnt close properly, no fridge in our room and unforcomfortable beds. After spended a lot of time and money planning this surprise trip, I was left disapointed and shocked that such a well rated establishment would so easily lie and cheat their customers. The location is great but for what you pay for and what you get, I think your money is best spent elsewhere.
Tried booking direct because they offer a low price/best price guarantee. Told them Priceline had the exact same room for the exact same dates for less. Reservations lady says they don’t price match. Such a joke. Complete false advertising. Don’t give this hotel a second of your time.
I would advise to stay away from this hotel. The ONLY good thing about this hotel is the location. Everything else was terrible. Once checking in we were asked to pay a deposit of 350$ even though we have paid for the hotel in advance. We were not warned about this and never in my life I was asked to pay a deposit when I have already paid for all my stay. Also keep in mind that all list of fees are added for you to pay at the end of your stay. When we got in to our room the only word to describe it was horrible. It was so dirty, with stains on the floor, terrible smell and a sink was full of dirt. We then complained and got “upgraded” to their newly renovated room. I think it was a joke, because the only thing different was the colour of the wall. The bathroom door doesn’t close, not to mention that it doesn’t lock. The tap in the bathroom doesn’t work properly, it splashes, getting the wall and everything around covered in water. Also the wifi doesnt work in the rooms, at least in the 7th floor, so you need to go to lobby to use a wifi and even then it only works if there is not a lot of people using it. Grab an go breakfast is only coffee/juice and a pastries or bagel. The hotel is outdated and I would not recommend staying here. For this price there is definately better options with at least not stinking rooms and working wifi.
Short story - I feel one star is generous considering the hotel doesn’t meet the most basic requirement of a decent nights sleep. Apparently it’s a 4 star hotel!Long story - Let’s start with first impressions - Bell boy ignored us with our big cases (wife clearly pregnant). 3 doors at the front, 2 broken/ out of use so we had to use a small rotating door. It was almost impossible to get both the case and a human in at the same time. Caught the bell boys eye. Nothing.Waited 20 minutes to checkin. Gave up and used the express machine. It took $300 more than it should and that takes 14 to 30 days to refund. I then queued again for checkin to sort it but it was apparently my fault because the machine is broken…? $300 short spending money on our trip before we even get to the room. The room - The pictures provided of the rooms might as well have been pictures of the Maldives. Wall paper hanging off. Paint all cracked. Splintered wood on the floor in the bathroom. Every door handle felt like it could come off at any second. You get the idea. Air conditioning was affective but loud enough to make my wife think she’d woken up on a plane (this actually happened, it was really funny in the moment, but did not give the room character)Prepare for the 3:30-4am wake-up in the winter. Every 30seconds to 1 minute it sounds like a hammer on the wall. It stops about 7-8am. The pipes are old and vibrate with temperature change, they said. Complained, but they said all rooms were the same, I could change room if I liked but shouldn’t expect much difference. I decided to change room as it was unbearable. No difference, like they said. They did say I could change to a suite as they don’t have the noise problem but I’d need to pay the difference. They were polite enough to point out I’d got a good rate when booking so it wasn’t unreasonable. A shocking thing to insinuate when the problem, by their own admission, affects all rooms.A typical work month for me is 2 to 4 international hotels from Santiago to London to Cape Town to Osaka or any number of US states. Never have I heard of a free breakfast meaning a shot of orange juice and a bagel TO GO?!Room telephone didn’t work.We left 2 nights early in the end after getting 4 hours sleep per night for 3 nights. I demanded a refund but only got a refund for the 2 nights we didn’t stay for. It took 6 weeks to receive!Positives - The bath was a nonslip type material, fragrant shampoo lets you pretend the hotel isn’t an utter dump until you pull the curtain open… a colour TV?Disgrace.
Great location, parking is expensive, very expensive, and rooms are super tiny. However, its right downtown, in proximity to everything, decent customer service, and prices are average. If youre here to sight see and go out and about, then its perfect! Really, no complaints, other than parking is crazy expensive!
Positive: location and ease of access, breakfast coupons. Negative: Yelling loud talking housekeeping early. we were next to closet.slamming doors, shouting by employees at 0800 is not nice.people sleeping, hours before checkout. Most disappointing both days.was not told of 35.99 facility fee at time of booking. per night
Our room had water stained, peeling wallpaper. The heat worked occasionally and the dresser looked like an animal chewed on it. The breakfast sandwich was cold and had raw bacon on it. We were only given 2 breakfast vouchers for 3 guests. The coffee was really good though! Location is what the hotel has going for it. Major improvements needed! I see the same response from the General Manager (“we take every response seriously and try to make improvements…”) on every complaint. I do hope they consider these common issues people are experiencing.
The hotel staff was great. the people at Friedmans restaurant were horrible... The location is place to go to if you want to be close to all the broadway shows and times square. If you are wondering about the choice for breakfast that comes with the room, go to Carve... Great spot with great service.
We stayed there from May 27- May 30 and Ill start with the cons:MAJOR CON: they told us they will only place a HOLD for $300 when we checked in, and that on checkout we can decide how we want to pay. We paid by card on check out however theres a $2000 charge that was taken on checkin in addition to what we paid on check out. When we called the hotel to have this fixed, theres a prerecorded message that says if this is about your security deposit, ITLL be returned in 30 days . We were told only a hold, not a charge.CON: Cockroach in our room crawling on the wall. I call housekeeping to come get rid of it. No one showed up.CON: Sinks were kinda cloggedCON: they say breakfast is included but its ONE ITEM a day meaning, you can pick between a parfait or a sandwich.PRO: people were nice. Location was good.
Stayed 2 nights. Its a very old hotel that was always busy with people. Evrybody was nice but they seamed very understaffed. We got a family suite and it was small but decient for just staying the night. Breakfast is included but was confucing. You get a limited choice for $5 if you eat in or a pick up to go wirh easy things. The orange juice was like a shot glass. The food was eh decent. They used frozen starberrys though and a mix of fresh. Some thougths,Pros- Very close to brodway and times Square, security check at elevators so that no strangers would be getting on( you showed your room key before getting on) breakfast is included ( eat in at $5 per person. Limited menu), beds were ferm.Cons- extremely small bathroom for a family suite!, small rooms ( which is expected) construction across the street starts at 7am so no sleeping in whatsoever, curtians can show others rooms and the construction people will and can see you. Our bed sheet had a hole at the very bottom that didnt come from me, tv remote guide did not work, creaking heater and the closet lights would randomly turn on! and lastly, I burned my finger on a lamp next to the bed after trying to figure why it wasnt working!
Horrible experience with the front desk, they treat customers very bad.My english is not perfect, i asked her to repeat, she replied: again!!! I was so surprise 😲. The breakfast is very bad. You have to pay 5$ per person if you want to have a seat. Warning! rooms are old, in réality,it is a 2 stars hôtel, i would never give them 4 *, they dont deserve them.
Positive: Location in Theatre district and Midtown, Staff was helpful. Negative: I feel the room we chose did not meet expectations represented in on line booking representation. Same for free breakfast which actually cost $8/person with setting fee, tip and tax, very limited menu choice, very disappointing for the room price.
Positive: Location was right next to time square Negative: The rooms were the worst Ive ever stayed at in NYC. Tiny and two people had a hard time moving around in room. Absolutely no light, wether from natural or fixtures. Really disappointed. Instead, stay at the millennium
In a very good midtown location just 1 minute walk to Times Square. But the breakfast is awful. They provide 2 person grabngo breakfast although we reserved a 3 people room, and the breakfast is just a preconfigured sandwich and 1 drink (either orange juice or coffee). Also, the room takes too many outside noise from the street. And I am not talking about Times Square crowd noise, I am saying the building noises around. I believe the windows are not thick enough.
Location is decent but the rooms have terrible views. Rooms are very small and the bathroom is even smaller. Dated. I booked online and the hotel charged me another facility fee of $35 on arrival...which was bs. Spend the extra $100 and stay at the Marriott Marquis. Their rooms are worth $500 a night more. Place belows, and is dirty.
Positive: The location was perfect. Its close to all the main attractions. Negative: TV and 1 whole wall, the outlets didnt work. The linens were worn and had holes in them. Nothing extra, it was the bare minimum. Hotel shuttle that is advertised, as included, it is NOT included. It is for JFK airport, not LGA. Complete disaster.
Subjected to the music in the ballroom every night until 1 am. We were on the 3rd floor. Horns, sirens and street noise is to be expected but bass rattling your family most of the night makes you wonder why you spent nearly 300 a night with taxes to not sleep. Asked for another room and told one wasnt available..
Whilst this hotel is in the heart of Times Square , I found it to be quite misleading in the sense, breakfast included ? Its included if you want to grab a crossiant or sandwich , you have to pay $ 5 .00 extra to sit down to a very limited menu .Also , the $200 deposit taken straight away, is a cheek !!! You have to wait weeks to get tge deposit back & the hotel do not corresponde AT ALL !!The air con was like a generator starting up & would wake you , needs serious modernising . Its central & clean , thats about it.
Just stayed at the Hotel Edison in the heart of Times Sq for a few days. Easy, quick check in, friendly & helpful staff, big clean comfortable room with frette linens, gym, and great restaurants attached to hotel for easy breakfast/dinner options. Our stay came with a to go breakfast or eat in option. Hotel was super convenient to all the popular tourist areas we wanted to visit. We appreciated the in-house concierge. It was out best NYC hotel stay to date.Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a convenient, safe, comfortable NYC stay with attentive staff.
Rooms are dated but are of a decent size. Its a great hotel if all you need it for is to crash at the end of your day on a sightseeing trip. If you want to spend a lot of time at the hotel maybe look somewhere else. The breakfast is included and the options are great. They have hot sit down breakfast which is great value for money. Location is perfect as it is right in the middle of Times Square.
This is not a review but an observation. I had always wanted to stay at the Edison so I looked at some of the reviews on other travel web sites. It seems to me that you either love it or hate it. Some of the rooms appear to be updated and some are not. Will ALL rooms be updated some time in the future?
Fantastic location for Broadway shows and great restaurants. Good value for the location. Standard room was small but comfortable enough for 2 people. Bathroom had just enough space for essentials. Thermostat/heat in room was not working very well, but ok for 1 night. Room was clean. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Check in and out was smooth. Valet parking for suv was $85 for 24 hours.
Weve been going to New York off and on for the past 10 years and have been fortunate in that weve had great experiences in the hotels weve stayed at. That said, Hotel Edison is HANDS DOWN the best value when you consider the location, the ambiance, the friendliness of the staff, the Jazz lounge downstairs, great security (need to show your room key to get in elevators) the free grab and go breakfast, and the price. You have 3 theatres on that same street, 47th, an incredible NY deli with some of the best pizza, cheesecake, sandwiches, and coffee just a few feet away from the lobby. 2 Starbucks on that street. The only downside is the rooms (like most in NY) are on the smaller size, but our room wasnt too small. We still had a king size bed anyway, but who visits NY to spend time in a hotel room anyway? If its comfortable, clean, and in a decent location, then Im happy, and this place far exceeded our expectations considering what they charge. Definitely looking forward to staying here again.
The rooms are nice and the customer service is awesome. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure the guests are comfortable and happy. I specifically dealt with the Front desk manager Jenny. She and everyone at this hotel treated me like a VIP. Jenny personally made sure my room was Great and in a quiet part of the hotel. She was kind, knowledgeable, and truly wanted me to feel comfortable and have a great experience at this hotel, and I did....Jenny is a true asset to this hotels business by building relationships with amazing customer service. I highly recommend the Edison Hotel for location, nice updated rooms, and incredibly great customer service.
The staff were incredibly rude upon arrival and not helpful with anything. The room was ok but apart from getting an electric shock every time you touched a light switch. If you pay for bed and breakfast it is so not worth the money as you can only take the breakfast away, you can’t sit down unless you want to pay every morning. The breakfast is awful whereby you can only get one item with your coupon. Whether that be a small pot of yogurt or a cold sausage sandwich you can only have one thing. The only good thing about the hotel is the location is amazing for visiting New York, right in the centre of time square.
Positive: Loved the location. Bed is really comfortable. Cleaning staff extremely friendly. Breakfasts are great. Negative: Dark, need pot lights. Bathroom really small. Windows have no screens. No coffee pot in the room. One window could open all the way with no screen....very dangerous.
DO NOT STAY HERE. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Was told we were getting a 2 bedroom suite but instead we got a single room with 2 beds and a couch. No fridge, bathroom was not clean and still paying more than a regular room. We have stayed here everytime. never again.
The location is great, right next to Times square. The rooms are reasonable size in Manhattan terms, but mine was very old and not like in the pictures they post on booking.com.Employees are rude and you get the feeling that theyre doing you a favor when you ask anything. They charge 1$ for storing your luggage until your room is ready. They charge 100$ security deposit for each night (!!),and the best part, they charged me 8$ for *each Amazon package* I sent to the hotel.Apparently, I agreed to this when I signed some documents before they brought the package (after a long day when there was a long line waiting for me to finish).I discovered this when saw extra charges on my card.Even if I was reading this carefully, I would discover this charge when all of my packages were already delivered. This is the first time ever that Im being charged 8$ to store my package for few hours.I know that those arent significant amounts, but I wont book again with an institution that tricks (yes thats my feeling!) guests this nasty way.Check carefully each service they offer you.
Visited NYC for my 40th birthday, hotel edison made this extra special. Perfect location for exploring the city. The hotel has a 40s feeling with a modern hospitality. Excellent staff and facilities. The rooms are basic yet comfortable and clean, typical NYC accommodation in the heart of the city. Highly recommended
From start to finish the team here are absolutely amazing. We had the pleasure of been checked in by the lovely lady her name was Justina.Security team are on the ball. You will feel super safe here. The main down side is all the grab and go breakfasts had cheese and sauce. No plain options. When I asked the answer was a basic no thats all we got. So a humble suggestion would be to try cater for visitors who can not eat cheese. But on a positive you will be right beside times square and I mean right beside it.So hotel Edison thank you for letting us be guests for the few nights we were there.
Stayed 5 nights in the suite with terrace. Room was very spacious with separate living room. I didnt have expectations that everything should be new as this is an older, iconic hotel. Staff was very friendly and polite. Place was run very efficiently. Breakfast was basic grab and go and I wasnt crazy about it, but dont know if food would have been better if we were to sit down and eat there. Location was excellent. Couldnt ask for better. Only thing I would say could be better was maybe having a chair or something for the terrace. Overall, I would recommend and would definitely stay there again.
This hotel is in the perfect location should you wish to have access to Times Square. The hotel room it’s self was clean and comfortable. Security staff was rude at times and the food selection for breakfast compared to other local hotels was very poor. The bathroom would flood each and every morning. Overpriced for the quality of service.
Positive: The location was perfect and it had good free breakfast options: eat-in or grab and go. Though the bathroom was tiny, it had been updated except for the original tub. A simple reglazing would have made it look clean instead of dingy. Negative: Room had no character with molly bolts where artwork had previously hung; no overhead lighting; no seating besides an office chair; duct-taped window shade fell down; hard to get on elevators due to Grand Central Station-type crowds
Loved our stay at the Edison! The location cant be beat for theatre visitors, and the breakfast each day was a welcome bonus. We stayed in two adjoining rooms, which was perfect for our small group. With all the choices of accommodations in the city, this was a lucky find. I will certainly stay here again. Mr. Holder was especially helpful in responding to my requests and making our stay memorable.
I have to be honest, the only good thing about this hotel is its location. Reasons why i’d never recommend this hotel to anyone:- all the rooms are unstandardised & different from the pictures & description posted in booking.com (the platform we used to book the hotel).- The first room they gave us was horrifically small. After we complained to the receptionist (thanks to Sam who helped us change rooms), they changed us to a new room which was slightly bigger although still nowhere near the pictures in booking.com.- room doesnt have a view- room is really dark. This is the darkest hotel room i’ve ever been in.- Bathroom is extremely small, with nonfunctioning air vents. Also, I need to squeeze to enter the bathtub, literally.- Which 4 star hotel (i hv no idea where this 4 star came from) doesn’t have a refridgerator?!- breakfast food selection was poor and each person is limited to ONE food & ONE drink (just like rationing), thats it.In summary, EXTREMELY OVERPRICED for the quality of hotel. If you want to mess up your travel plans, feel free to book.
Large, clean rooms for a reasonable price considering the location. Right off Times Square and extremely close to the theater district. We opted for a suite and it worked great for sleeping 3. Would ha e been 5 stars but the room was advertised with a king bed and mini fridge but the bed was a queen and no mini fridge in sight. Other than those 2 things, no complaints and would otherwise recommend.
I was in the Hotel Edison with my husband. You made me pay 400 USD for the deposit. You told me that the devolution was IMMEDIATELY. YOU LIED TO ME!Im waiting from 10/24 you GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY!!!PLEASE ! I CANT WAIT FOR MORE TIME !!YOU STILL LIE TO ME. NEVER GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY. EVEN AFTER SEEING THIS COMMENT.
If I could rate 0 I will do it. We paid 300$ for 4 people for 1 night stay and the hotel room was horrible, dirty, stains in the towels, also I realized there was a stain in the bed sheets when my 5 year old baby wanted to sleep. The bathtub was horrible, with stains and damaged. We asked for a new room to be able to sleep in clean sheets and get a bath in better conditions and the answer was: THERE ARE NO MORE ROOMS AND YOU PAID FOR A CLASSIC ROOM. This is not acceptable. We had stayed in other hotels and inns that are not reviewed as 4 stars accommodation and the quality of the rooms are better than this 4 stars hotel. It has nothing at all, it is overrated. Breakfast was grab and go just for 2 people even thought we paid a 4 people room. Staff did not give us the breakfast tickets at the moment of the check-in (which we did not know we needed at the time we went to the restaurant) so we had to go back to the desk to ask for them. Very disappointed
The location is great but the offered breakfast was unorganized and not up to anyones standards. The sit down breakfast line was very long, so we decided to do the grab & go. They offered only. 1 item, from a choice of fruit cup, parfait, pastry, bagel & sandwich. And only 1 drink from a choice of tea, coffee, orange juice or Lemonade. I ended up eating a fruit cup with orange juice.I have stayed at many hotels in NYC offering free breakfast and this one was the worst.I would have stayed here again but the breakfast is just a kicker. I rather have no breakfast offered so I would not have depended on the hotel breakfast.
Positive: This is a great hotel from the art deco period the hotel has been mostly renovated and done fairly well with if not period well done but older replications of the furniture. To insure you get a remodeled room I recommend reserving a Signature room. Negative: Plastic drinking cups in the rooms. I dispease cheap plastic cups that just destroy the environment ruin any effect of class
➕ location of the hotel!!! Close to everything a NYC visitor wishes to see!➖ breakfast line gets busy even at 7am which is the opening time for breakfast. You get to pick one thing from the menu and juice or coffee. Not ideal for hotel breakfast. Also you need to wait to be seated. Vaccine card and ID necessary in order to sit.I had to ask 3 times (!) for a couple of blankets cause in the night it was chilly in the room. The size of the room was ok for a couple, bathroom too. It was clean and simple. Housekeeping staff were very friendly. All and all, the location and the clean room is what makes it nice.
We stayed Aug 10 till the 15 and we had no problem. The hotel is right around the corner of times square, which is so alive every night. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The rate includes breakfast for two. I prefer the breakfast at the nearby deli which is part of the voucher. Check in and checkout was fast. Marco was very nice when we check in. Also the lady at the concierge was very helpful when she booked our transportation back to the airport. The driver who was assigned to us Mr. Bill was so awesome he waited for us since our flight was delayed and gave us a lot of information about the city. This will be our hotel if we come to new york.
Overall the hotel is very nice. The lobby and room were all very clean and beautifully decorated for the holidays. The location is absolutely perfect for times square/Rockefeller center/central park/broadway shows. My room only had a view of the air conditioning units but I really didn’t mind because I only used the room for sleeping. The attached restaurants are very nice. Especially Friendman’s which offers gluten free options (as a celiac it was nice to be able to enjoy a hotel breakfast for once). My only complaint is that the room was warm and I couldnt figure out how to make it cooler. Unsure if there was an issue with the AC unit but it wasn’t unbearable. I will 100% stay here for my next NYC trip and will recommend this hotel to everyone I know.
My Husband and I will most definitely stay again in this Edison Hotel !!!! We absolutely loved it 🥰!!! We stay in suite price it was amazing deal ! The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Keith manager and room service lady on the 18th she was very professional and sweet lady ! And very convenient location close by major attractions !!! Overall had a amazing time in New YorkThank you for treating us good and making our stay feel safe and secure !! From the Abdullah’s
Pros: the hotel is really close to times square and great pricing with daily breakfast.Cons: Room size was pretty small, with not nearly enough lighting. There is a lamp and one light at the far end of the room. The desk area had no lighting so I had to use my flashlight on my phone to work and zoom on my laptop. There were no wash cloths available, I asked housekeeping and there were none available to them either. So hand towels was our only option for showering. Lastly, upon checkout I asked for a receipt of final charges. The front desk associate said there was no printer to provide me with this and took my email down and never did I receive it.Next time Im in NYC, Ill opt to go with the hotel chains I have rewards accrued with.
The hotel is lovely and very convenient to Times Square. The staff is wonderful and very friendly. The beds are very firm but I like a firm mattress. My only problem with this hotel is the bathroom door. Its frosted glass. It is lovely to look at but doesnt offer much privacy. My husband would have to leave the room each time our teenage daughter and niece wanted to use the restroom or take a shower and vice versa. The bathroom is small(as expected) but it makes a persons silhouette very visible. We ended up using the bathroom and shower with the lights off to try to have some sort of privacy. We tried to change rooms but were told that this is the same bathroom door is every room.
The hotel was very affordable. It also included a decent breakfast. We originally were supposed to be at another hotel who stranded us in the middle of the night when they overbooked the hotel and wouldn’t help us. So we tried to book on this hotel’s website and since it was after midnight I was careful to make sure I searched using the previous day and checking out that day. Then when it came to the confirmation page it didn’t show the dates anywhere, which had me a bit worried. Then when we clicked confirm it said confirmed for the next day and gave no option to change or cancel. (We weren’t the only ones who arrived and had this problem that the website didn’t book the same day like it said it was going to). When we got to the hotel they said it would be outrageously more expensive to change it. Then they said we could wait until 3 am and then pay a hefty early check in fee to check in then. Finally they said wait a few minutes and we will try and change it once the reservation comes in. Then they tell us there’s no rooms when previously they said there was. In the end they made it right and changed our reservation without additional cost and got us a room when we thought we’d be spending the night in the subway.
Your average old NY hotel.. the rooms are small, the bathtub was horrible, the water wouldnt god. The ac is working with a lot of noise when heating and it dries the air like hell. Walls and doors are thin. The hot water is great, the security seems very good as well. They checked our keys everytime before entering the elevators. No early check in asked for 60$ for 1 hour early check in which is nuts..
Positive: Location¿. This hotel was in Times Square which was exactly where we wanted to be. Negative: Our room accommodation was not great at all. If you¿re room number ends in -20, you will be situated right behind the 5 elevators in the hotel. The constant rattling of the elevator pulleys shakes the very well where that the headboard rest on.
Summary: Dont stay here, youll be much better off and happier at the other hotels. My very first 1 star review for any hotel ever. Location was terrific (like all the other Times Square hotels), the room was not. Our only request was a decent view for a 3 night stay. Our view consists of broken down scaffolding leaned against our window, along with construction trash. By the last day we woke up to men working at our window! The hotel is far from full, and we are only here for midweek so it was just a decision to put us here. There is no vent in the bathroom so it is very humid in there and the lock is broken on the bathroom door. The vending machines are broken and dont work properly. No microwave or fridge in the room. There were blood stains on the fitted sheet. There is no sheet other than the fitted sheet. It is a beautiful hotel and the staff was very cordial, however we have been much happier at other local hotels for similar price. Most the staff is incredibly nice, however we have watched the security guard standing right next to people waiting for the elevator without showing them where the button is multiple times. We asked for towels since maintenance had to use a couple of ours. We asked housekeeping then asked at the front desk after a few hours. The towels never came. It was very disappointing and the worst hotel experience we have had on our any of our visits to Manhattan. Also, had tried multiple times to contact hotel prior to arrival and never received any response. Just go somewhere else and you wont regret it.
We chose the Edison for our anniversary trip and couldnt be more pleased with our decision. Its located right off of Times Square, so its close by to everything youd want - the theatres, the shopping, the subway...The rooms are a little small and you can see where things are starting to show some wear. We had some trouble with our first room (steam leak in the heating unit, which the maintenance man said was unrepairable and told us to go down to the front desk and ask to be moved), and we were moved to a much better room. The bathrooms are small, but the room is mostly there to be a place to lay your head at the end of the day. We certainly didnt spend a lot of time inside the hotel! The staff is extremely friendly, and the best part is that breakfast vouchers are included with your stay - you have the choice of three sit-down restaurants (with a fixed menu) or a grab-and-go option, and we took full advantage of these. The hotel also provides a shuttle back to LGA, which was super helpful for us (and was cheaper than an uber or taxi would have been!).The hotel was also only two streets away from the Majestic Theatre, and is surrounded by a ton of delicious restaurants and hip bars. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and hope to come back again!
We had a lovely stay here at hotel Edison. They even upgraded our rooms when they saw we had a little one to have more space. So kind & appreciated! Clean rooms & the location is prime. Having breakfast included was a bonus (2 options: grab n go or sit down) we thought the grab n go was better actually!Air conditioning worked great (Though it seems inconsistent room to room - my parents’s room was not near as cold)Bathrooms are TINY so be aware of that, but we thought for the price and location we were happy with it. We weren’t spending much time at the hotel anyway :)The only complaint is that the doors definitely need upgraded. They are old cheap wood that lets all the hall noise through. Big gaps at the bottom. Also the door handles are very squeaky. Room to room though we didn’t hear any neighbors 👍🏻Pleasantly surprised for the price & would stay here again!
Great value for money! The location is perfect for those looking to stay near the Times Square. We had an issue with the room and the staff was willing to help- we got another room which was awesome. Although The hotel is a bit crowded, old fashioned and breakfast is too small, the rooms are equipped, clean and the service is great.
Decent hotel and good location if you want to be in Times Square. Some minor annoyances: Check-in took long, we paid for a terrace room but we had to ask three different people to get it unlocked. Ordered room service the way it said to on the website and it never came. Nice free breakfast voucher but the line was always so long it was easier to go somewhere else. Despite this, the beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. Overall a good stay.
The room was small which was fine with me due to the fact I was only in it to sleep and shower. The bathroom was smaller than expected, sink toilet and shower were like literally on top of each other. My only issue was that I paid a $400 deposit which I should have received some time after I checked out. Its been over a month and I havent received it. Ive called, left messages and was never able to reach management about my payment.
Currently here atm...to be honest im not sure if i would stay here again...i think i got the coldest noisiest smallest room in the hotel...when i turned the heating on you couldnt here yourself think it was that noisy...went to close my blinds and they fell of the window reported it to reception who sent a maintenance man up he looked at it the said ill be back later cause im away on my break the grab and go breakfast was alright if your not a big eater went out most mornings to a diner to compensate for it...on the plus side its very central and plenty going on around it....
I can usually stomach bad service but this place is ridiculous. First off, the front desk WILL NOT answer any phone calls. You are wasting you’re time if you are trying to call. Secondly, they are the slowest workers, constant long lines and no sense of urgency on their part. Thirdly, I have never experienced this before in my life. The room was not ready by check-in. Forcing me to continually wait in line and check when the room was ready. Once we finally got to the room (signature suite), the views are terrible. And the bathroom is the size of a closet. This establishment is poor, the workers are poor, the room is poor, get a better hotel elsewhere. Try the millennium or the double tree. Don’t waste your time here.
10/10 location, feet away from Times Square and all other touristy spots! Room was nice size, comfy beds and we were given FREE breakfast vouchers for all ppl in our room which we used at a local shop and the food was amazing! Check in took 5 minutes, and when we requested late check out we were allowed to pick the time! It was one of the best NY hotels I’ve ever stayed at.
The room was clean likewise bedlinen. There was no microwave, coffee maker or refrigerator. I requested a coffee maker and was given one. For the other two theres a $30 charge for each. Overall service was good. Great elevator service and location having access to variety of eating places...
Omg! The place is beautiful the room was so Amazing the beds was so soft and comfortable. My and My Son slept like a baby The room had everything in it you needed for a pleasant Stay and the staff was great! From the time i checked in until the time i checked out the complimentary breakfast was delicious the staff that serve you the food are so attentive in making sure you well taking care of and they All ways ask You is there Anything else they can do for you i would recommend Hotel Edison to Anyone who is looking a Nice Quiet comfortable place to stay whether you visiting for business or leisure or touring. Or if you just wanna get away for a weekend this is where its at. I give the hotel 2 thumbs up! Hotel Edison You Rock!!
The lobby is really pretty. Our room had a queen size bed but it was small. It had an old desk with scratches. The bathroom was okay but it smelled like weed every time we opened the door.We had to pay service fee of $33 per night that was not notified before arrival.Breakfast was good, but the place was packed and the selection was small. Besides, they give you a shot of orange juice, it’s not even the full glass.
Literal steps away from Times Square. The Ethel Barrymore theater is out one for and the Richard Rogers is out the other. Its a quick walk to most of Broadways theaters. The staff is exemplary. Our room, while obviously older, was incredibly clean. The hotel overall seems to be getting the updates it could use. It has beautiful and charming elements and areas that speak to its rich history.I hope to stay here again and thats the highest praise I can offer to any business!
Positive: restoration of art deco hotel is terrific. Right in the middle of theatre district made access to Shubert Theatre a dream. Loved the brightness of lobby and the murals Negative: Getting into sit-down restaurent had extremely long line so we settled for grab and go which also had a looooooooooong waiting line.

2022-03-05I’m not sure what to make of the bad reviews I’m seeing below (maybe from earlier in the pandemic?)—I’ve stayed at the Edison multiples times, and my rooms have always been modern, comfortable and exactly as described. It’s not a luxury hotel, but the staff has always been friendly and helpful, my rooms have always been clean, comfortable, and spacious, the location is perfect for exploring the city (close to the theatre district and subways to everywhere). The rooms are a great value too.Once my room was next to some construction across the street, and I asked to be moved to another room with less noise, and they gave me a room on the other side of the building that was an upgrade from the original room, free of charge.I just wrapped up another great stay.Definitely my go-to spot for visiting the city.

2022-05-25This is usually our go to hotel in the Time Square area. Staff has always been perfect, no problems with check in or out, getting transportation to anywhere is easy as well. Close to Subway station and a few steps from Time Square. However if you need Ultra Modern this might not before you. There is a 100% difference between suite rooms and regular rooms. We stayed in a regular room this time. Age definitely shows however super clean. In those older rooms be prepared for scrapes on the walls, fringed carpet here or there, and dated tile bathrooms. Like I said always super clean. This trip was a quick trip for 4 days for us. Just one of those...We gotta get away... trips. We havent been to NYC since the pandemic. We will be staying in a suite the next time. Most of those room are upgraded and a little larger. Overall Id stay again.

2022-07-01One of the cleanest rooms I’ve stayed at in years. Absolutely spotless. Worth coming back just for that. The bathroom was newly renovated, the tile shower felt like a treat (with C.o. Bigelow products). The bed was comfortable and the sheets felt high quality.I was expecting dated features but the hotel looks at the same time both well maintained and respectful of the beautiful Art Deco building.Regarding some other reviews I’ve seen, yes there is noise from outside at night sometimes but it’s Times Square, not a mountain resort. If you’re a light sleeper, it may not be for you.The only slight inconvenience was that they asked for a $2, cash only, fee for storing luggage for the day while waiting to check in. I had never been charged in other hotels in New York or elsewhere, but maybe it’s a Times Square thing? Or is it like a mandatory tip? (I would have tipped anyway at pickup- and did tip on top of the charge! But I had just landed from abroad and didn’t have cash right away, as I suppose happens to others)

2022-01-03Great location, but unfortunately that was the only thing going for this place. On arrival to the hotel, we had to queue at the check in desk for 50 minutes. I had booked 2 x Twin rooms, and when we got to the rooms they were both doubles. Back down to reception to wait another 20minutes to be seen by the receptionist. They didnt have any twin rooms left. So, offered us a free upgrade to the king size beds. Not ideal, but we went for it. Back up the lifts, and one of the new rooms had the window missing, simply covered up by cardboard. The other room had the curtains spread out in a mound on the floor. Back down the lifts, to be reallocated another room. 3rd time lucky! Really not what we wanted when been up for over 24 hours already.Great location, but I wont be staying here again.

2022-06-11Wonderful experience, it looks like an old place but it so well updated, the guest rooms are renovated and very up to date! The location is wonderful, it is located in the heart of Times Square. What we enjoyed the most was the downstairs Bar, it is located in front of the elevators, it has live jazz music every night, and with different artists each night, it was impossible go to bed without stopping by to have a drink listening the great show! Definitely this was a wonderful experience that recommend and would like to repeat!

2021-12-27This is an old hotel as you can see from my rating about the room. That said it was clean, very friendly, service was great. Security on the lift area. Some people didnt like it but I felt reassured. The location was great in amongst everything. Finally the food was great. I would stay again. It would be even better if the put new furniture in the rooms though.

2022-01-18Great location, friendly staff, rooms could have been updated a little better. Shower had a partial glass cover that didn’t move so it was always open leaving the floor to get soaked, and a cold breeze to come in because the bathroom door a sliding glass door that’s too heavy to stay shut.We were 3 ladies in the room with 1 queen bed and a sleeper sofa, we hit perfectly fine, room was a good size for a room in Manhattan

2022-03-28We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Edison for 6 nights! From first email to hotel to confirm special occasions to the stay itself we had a fantastic stay. The staff were friendly, the breakfast vouchers were a nice touch and the rooms spotless! We also felt safe with the security at the elevators. I was a bit unsure about staying so close to Times Square but the close proximity of the subway was fantastic. Would definitely stay here again!

2022-01-23Rooms are mildly sized. I got a king room. If you are planning to cram even two people in, you may have an issue. The staff were great, and I appreciate the coffee maker and complimentary waters. Not all rooms have the coffee maker. My friend, who started in a double queen, did not have one. Their room was also more spacious. The TV took a bit to figure out, but I dont have tv at home. The free breakfast was tasty, yet meager, but Im a big guy. The location is fantastic. There was black mold in my bathroom stuff dirty on a rag. However, I cant blame the hotel too much because they outsource their laundry and the staff have MANY rooms to clean. In case Hotel Edison sees this and wants to clean better, the room is 833. I think I may consider staying here again, for the location, if nothing else.

2022-02-01The hotel room was really vintage, but the bed is amazingly comfy.Wifi kept disconnecting, i would not recommend the free breakfast from the hotel (Bond45), but the one from Carve was tasty! Some of the staff came over as extremely fake.We had to pay +40$ a night for taxes as a surprise on our arrival.Overall, the hotel have an amazing location for the price which justify the 3/5⭐️
