My first visit was so-so, but I enjoy the architecture and the location proximate to things that I enjoy doing in Buffalo. However, the layout of the hotel is extremely confusing and the staff are cold and less than helpful. They avoid eye contact like a contagion. The room was decent, so I thought Id try again next time I was in town.Second attempt at a visit was a disaster. I made a mistake booking the room and ended up getting overcharged. My mistake, but I was shocked by the response from the hotel management. It was if they were thrilled that they caught me in a mistake and were able to take some extra cash. I hope that thrill lasts for a while because they wont see any more of my money. Hotel staff are cold, callous and not helpful. Stay at your own risk.
Gorgeous rooms, interior furnishings and architecture! I was so excited to see the original tiling in the corridors leading from the Towers Building to the guest room wings. The staff members were all super friendly and helpful, and definitely made my short stay more enjoyable. I cant wait to go back after May to do the tours they offer, and hopefully stay longer than just one night.
I ended up staying at Hotel Henry for a work event. I only got to stay for one night, but I tried to explore as much as possible while I was there. The rooms were fantastic!!! The whole place was setup to give you the feel of the Asylum still being around but with all the modern comforts. The rooms were setup flawlessly and the details everywhere you turned were amazing.Lots of parts are very reminiscent of the Shinning, especially the halls and the bar.The room was affordable and I would love to go again but for a weekend getaway this time. Well worth the drive from Toronto. They were still working on some areas, but the Art that was up in the areas I got to go through was great! Some stuff id never seen before and displayed perfectly to fill up the spaces but not overwhelm you.Overall I cant wait to go again and share this experience with others and hope this time maybe in a warmer month so I can explore a bit more than I was able to this time =)
So, the urban look and feel is really cool. The room was impeccably cleaned (I dont look for dirt or hairs but I seem to find them all - but NOT here). Because it is so spacious, it is so quiet (inside and out except maybe around the restaurant at Happy Hour). The room was spacious. My only problem was...the A/C vents are near the top of the 20 foot ceilings and you only feel the cool air if you hold your door open and it is pulled down. So, I would definitely revisit the place in spring or fall and avoid during the summer...and maybe the winter assuming the heat is stuck at the top of the room, too.
A beautiful piece of history. You will never stay in a hotel any where else like this. Get lost explaoring the building and enjoying the artwork throughout. Rooms are are well appointed and beds are very comfortable. Staff at 100 Acre restaurant was excellent and the food even better. Bartenders were awesome and made our night very enjoyable. If going to Buffalo, even if your not staying at the hotel, take the time to explore it!
Stayed here over thanksgiving weekend and loved every minute. Place is so beautiful and well decorated. The rooms felt luxurious and all the soft furnishings were immaculate. Room was a little cold and the heater rather noisy but the reception provided us with extra blankets. The best thing about this place is it’s history. Be sure to look that up. Also be sure to book onto the tour of the abandoned wing. It’s fascinating.
Glad to hear this place is closing. What an absolute embarrassment it was to open a hotel in this place of suffering and borderline torture in the first place. It has sickened me for years to hear about its “beautiful architecture” and other asinine reflections on its appearance without anyone ever touching on the souls who were, in many cases, forced to be there during the asylum days. Can you imagine staying in and gushing over a room or enjoying a restaurant or getting married where people were abused and subject to inhumane physical and emotional treatment? The least they could have done was acknowledge the history before stomping all over the people who lived and died there. Disgusting. Good riddance.
Best experience ever !!!!!!!This is a masterpiece!!!! To experience the hard work of restoration is incredible. This architecture is such a celebration. There are so many things to admire. The fuse of urban decor and Art Deco and mid century modern is wonderfully done . The staff was attentive and helpful. The rooms are comfy and well thought out for the space . The ceilings are spectacular. I will definitely stay again!! I am really hoping that funding can continue to restore the other buildings. It is a gift to have something like this in our city !!! Great job !!!! Super impressed!!!!!!
Not ready for prime time. Slightly creepy as buildings were formally a mental hospital. Lots of information online about the paranormal experienced there by some. Happy to report we saw no ghosts over our two day stay. Much of the surrounding buildings are in a state of disrepair adding to the whole haunted house feel. Rooms are average size with massive hallways. Very hard to get fresh towels..they actually ran out on our second day there.
One of the coolest looking buildings in the city of Buffalo! So glad they are renovating it! We went last month for a get away weekend. The rooms are modern and beautiful. And reasonably priced! I dock it one star because the restaurant. I expected the food to be much better than what it was.
What a beautiful hotel. I visited an event organized by University at Buffalos alumni association, and we had a small tour of the building. It was designed to look ominous on the outside, but spacious, bright and calming on the inside. And you certainly get that. Its a beautiful space, large hallways with lots of light, nice modern rooms. Very unique experience for the visitors for sure.
Stayed at this hotel for two nights. I was here for a business conference and the place was exceptional. We had a small private tour by Kate and she provided a lot of great history of the building and the land. She was amazing to talk to and learn from. We had our conference on the 3rd floor of the hotel which was nice because we had the floor to ourselves but it is a little hard to find the registration desk if you dont know where you are going. There are no signs outside that really show you where to entrance the hotel or honestly where the hotel begins.I was originally only supposed to stay there for one night but my flight was delayed and I stayed the 2nd night. They were awesome about finding me a room and giving us the same rate as the night before. We went to 100 acres for dinner and the pricing was pretty reasonable but the portions were a little on the small side. Make sure to order a few of the crispy potatoes they are amazing. The rooms were super comfortable and roomy with tall ceilings. You hardly ever heard anyone else in their rooms which was amazing.I am giving it only 4 stars because the food could have bigger portions, there wasnt much to tell you the history of the hotel unless you asked employees or googled it, the valet wasnt available as long as I thought they should be as parking wasnt as big as I would expect for the size of the hotel, when we had our conference we got locked out of one of the rooms and there was no one around that had a key to open it. If you are looking for an experience and to learn some history of Buffalo, NY this is the place to go.
There are some quirks thats unique to the adaptive re-use nature of this building; which is not unusual in other boutique hotels that Ive stayed in. What a great place to stay if you are in town! Beautifully designed. Parking is not an issue. Food is great. Finding your way around this place takes a minute to think through, but its not terrible. Amazing architecture and campus with a lot of history. Importantly...the creep factor crossed my mind before booking this place but it was far from being creepy. Book it!
Excellent experience. amazing architecture and history, great local art on the walls, sprawling gardens. rooms are not huge but are very well done, as are the bathrooms. the second floor front desk was fine and just part of the vintage architecture. recommended and planning another stay.
An absolutely lovely new hotel by AK art gallery, with new local art on the walls every visit. I have not stayed over, but visited for brunch and came for the holiday market in December. I was showed guest rooms by a girl at the front desk, who was very informative and helpful. The rooms are lovely, definitely unique with high ceilings and windows. The hallways to the guest rooms are large and spacious, the girl told me sometimes weddings are performed. The holiday market was through the second and third floor, in a pretty purple lounge, banquet spaces and what appeared to be meeting spaces for businesses. Very clean, professional, with lots of art throughout. I hope to stay over one day!
Stayed last night. Very cool place with so much character. The bar area is great to socialize. The restaurant has excellent food. The restaurant staff were awesome when we had to leave unexpectedly after order was placed. The only thing is the odd/even room setup is very confusing. We ended up walking in circles looking for even room entry. Look over the map when you first get in and remember the restaurant is the baseline for each side. There are not too many signs. Only one when u come off the elevator, and that just shows a 3/4 circle. I recommended to front desk that each entry wall for room access near restaurant for odd/even could be painted to represent that side to assist guests to know that the walkway to room without needing to put signage to take away from the charm. People remember colors. Very few will review a map after checking in. Great place, great staff!!
Stopped by to take some photos of the outside, the architecture is both beautiful and creepy given its history. Still a lot of work going on, you really dont get the scale of this building until you drive around the outside perimeter, the building is massive. It will be interesting to see how the renovations go and what it looks like when complete. I did not take photos of the inside, perhaps another trip. Im not from the area but the location looks a bit sketchy to me.
Orginally Booked this hotel to attend the holiday market. We had a family emergency, so we decided to stay Friday and Saturday night. Valet and check in on Friday was awesome. When we got to our room, there were no hand towels. Staff was very accommodating in getting us some. We are like hey, it happens. We did have dinner here. Limited menu, a bit pricey, but tasty. Saturday, were left to attend to family needs. We returned about 1pm to get clean up for a family party. There were no wash clothes... so we had to ask for them. Again, staff was very accommodating to get us some. We left and went to our party. We returned about 7:30 pm. There was absolutely no parking spots available for registered hotel guests due to a wedding. So we had to pay for valet parking. When we got into the hotel, we inquired about the brunch on Sunday, we were told to call and make a reservation. We did and got an auto message saying to book on line. Tried to book online, and no luck. We were then told, they have open seating available at 10:30, so just show up. After a long day, we tried to get to sleep. Some guests from the wedding thought it was a good idea to let their children run up and down the hall screaming. My husband had to go out ask them to please stop. On Sunday, we pack up and are excited to the the holiday market getting set up. We decided to walk around for a few minutes, only to see crumbs on the floor from wedding guest, plastic cups and napkins in the stairwell, and dirty bathrooms. We show up at 10:30 for the open seating for brunch. Only to find out that we cant attend brunch without reservation. Im sure if are coming here for an event, its awesome. If you are just a regular guest, eh, not so much.
This review is a little late, as my wife and I stayed here in January. Our Christmas gift to each other was a one night stay in one of the suites. The room was beautiful, and huge. The bed was really comfortable, and the soaking tub was a plus. We got the package that included breakfast, which was delicious. I think our favorite part of the stay was being able to grab a drink at the bar and then wander the halls enjoying both the architecture and the art displays. Hotel Henry is truly a unique place and I cant wait to see how it evolves and expands over time.
I loved the set up of the restaurant, each table seemingly in its own little area to make it very cozy and welcoming for talking intimate or otherwise. I would not go here if you are in a rush but its a great place to eat and catch up with friends. Parking is a bit confusing as Google brought me to the wrong side of the building and down a very pot-holed street that I was a bit worried my car wasnt going to clear, but once I made it it was quite pleasant. oh and the French toast was very tasty but nothing special.
This is an incredible building and space. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are modern and well decorated. There is local art throughout the building and its like staying in a museum. Its a 5 star atmosphere for sure. I would definitely choose the Henry again based purely on the assessments aesthetics. Unfortunately, while polite and trying to genuinely be helpful, the staff has twice made an error and not handled it well. Nothing major, just little mistakes on bills or forgetting something minor. The issue is that, in both cases, they at first tried to blame us for the error. Im fully aware that people can be difficult, and I dont ascribe to the customer is always right philosophy, but its extremely off-putting to be told the problem is your fault by the staff, who then double checks only to realize that the error was on their end. I really want to leave a nicer review because its an amazing place that I do feel everyone should check out if theyre staying in Buffalo. I just wish I hadnt been accused of trying to not pay for things or get away with some shenanigans, when in fact, it was the staffs error.
Fascinating repurposed building. Lovely high ceilings, tall windows and very wide corridors. Lots of interesting art in the public spaces. Many interesting public spaces. Very comfortable bed but insufficient storage space for clothes and nowhere convenient to keep ones luggage. The restaurant is not cheap but the cuisine is exceptional. Interesting dishes, clearly made from local ingredients that havenever seen the inside of a freezer. Every dish arrived beautifully presented and the right temperature. The hot food was hot. The service was excellent and leisurely. The arrangements for breakfast need work.
Had an amazing time at Hotel Henry. Room was just great- our standard room had something like 18 ft ceilings and 15 ft windows. Very comfortable bed, great bathroom- nothing to improve on.We just loved the renovations and walking throughout the complex.Cocktails were top notch- and breakfast was amazing. Eggs Benedict and corn beef hash - best I’ve ever had of each!Everything really was top of the line for a reasonable price. Highly recommend!
Id had a hectic week at work and needed some reprieve, so I decided to treat myself to a Deluxe Queen suite here on Friday March 13th...My host, Chris was amazing. He made me feel like a Queen...his smile and personality were so welcoming, so instantly I knew this was a great split decision. Chris was intuitive and catered to my needs; hed given me a voucher for a free drink at the bar and escorted me to my room, he even hauled my luggage :)...what a sweetheart! My suite was gorgeous...I stayed in a corner suite # 224, a beautiful, bright, and airy sanctuary in the West Wing Tower, tons of windows and character..it was spotless and smelled lovelyyy...Chris knew I needed some uplifting and this suite exceeded my expectations, I just had to hug him. Hotel Henry is simply gorgeous, pictures dont do it justice, you have to experience it; good vibes all around. It was such a peaceful weekend, just me, my sushi, some Sweet Walter pineapple wine, and I ...cant wait to return again. Thanks Chris!
Hotel Henry is by far the best place you can possibly stay. Its no wonder it was rated the Top 100 Destinations of the World! Every time I look to take a staycation, usually about twice a year, I always book at Hotel Henry. Between their friendly and attentive customer service, their above and beyond hospitality, the delicious and to die for food and beverage, and of course their spacious and beautiful spaces, its easily the best hotel Ive ever been to - and I can say with confidence that it will be the best hotel youve been to as well. I love seeing all of the new and old faces each time I return to 100 Acres and/or the hotel itself - special thank you to Chris at the front desk for always making us smile and laugh with his insight about Buffalo and his courtesy.Since the pandemic started, I was a little uneasy about returning to hotels and getting out in public again. Hotel Henry put those worries to rest immediately. I knew they were going to be the first place I returned to to stay at. I was right. Not only were they as caring and kind as ever during the worst time of 2020 ever, I felt so safe there amongst the cleaning and safety protocols they rolled out in addition to what was required by NYS law. I felt safer than at my own job! Thank you for always treating your guests like princes and princesses. We appreciate you more than you know! Hotel Henry is exactly what makes Buffalo so special.
Service here is excellent. Everyone was so cordial, attentive and professional. Our suite was equally matched in terms of a modern, welcoming and luxurious stay. As for dinner service at 100 Acres, the burger I had was probably the best ever, highly recommend adding the BLT and bacon. Front desk check in team are amazing.
The bar was beautiful and the selection of drinks was excellent. The service was quick and the bartender went above and beyond to help find a drink Id like after they ran out of what I originally ordered. After we got our drinks we were able to explore the grounds of hotel and resort and the restoration that has taken place there is incredible. In addition, they have a lot of very original and interesting article installations.
I booked Hotel Henry because it looked beautiful and I thought it would be an interesting experience. Unfortunately, my husband and I were unable to check in. The enterance doors were locked and instructions directed guests to call reception to unlock the door. After waiting on hold for 30 minutes unable to reach reception and searching the property for another enterance in the freezing rain, my husband and I gave up.Thankfully we booked through a third party and after they were unable to contact Hotel Henry, we were reaccomodated.
Attended the Holiday sale which featured local vendors. Very well organized and attended. Greeted in the lobby by a friendly employee and given directions. Hotel is gorgeous. So glad this building survived the wrecking ball. Hope they get to save the rest of it. It is a true testament to the beautiful architecture in Buffalo.
Place is really elegant. Its a nice mix of old architecture and modern contemporary design. They have 6 artists showcased with their works donning the hallways and walls. Also a lot of sculptures and such, and every piece of art and sculpture not in the showcase is for sale. (Some fetch a price of 4-7000$ mind you) The restaurant was amazing. The service was the best ever. Less then 10 seconds after getting a water glass below 1/3rd full someone is refilling it. The stand alone menu is a little on the expensive side but they also have a Pre-Fix menu. We did the Pre-Fix which was 27$ per person where you get to pick from 1 of 3 starters (soup/salad), 1 of 3 entries (1 veg pasta, 1 seafood, 1 steak), and 1 of 3 desserts. We got the bread plate for 5$ extra and it was worth it. The fresh made sourdough thick, warm, and toasted with an amazing butter was well worth the 5$. My fiancee got the beat salad which she loved, the butternut squash tortellini which again she loved, and the grapefruit tart which she inhaled lol. I got the beer cheddar soup which was good, the Henry ranch steak (might have a slightly different name) rare which was incredible. I am a steak connoisseur and have eaten at easily 80 different 5 star steak houses that charge 40-70$ for a fillet mignon and this steak was as tender and flavorful as the top steaks Ive had at those places. Some bites were like butter they were so tender. The handmade potato crisps/chips were amazing and the blue cheese based dip was top notch. Finally I had the chocolate pate with raspberry sauce that was unique and delicious. The portions of the entrees are on the smaller side but since the same steak entree is 37$ on its own if not ordered on the Pre-Fix it makes sense. However both of us were full from the 3 courses so its not too small to leave you wanting. At first I thought the price was a little high but at the end my mind was changed. For that level of service and the quality and presentation of the food it was incredibly cheap. At another 5 star restaurant our bill easily wouldve been 200-240$ including 20% tip and Ive paid that and not had as good of service and beautifully presented dishes that were incredibly delicious and high quality. So all of that with a bill of only 85$ total including a 14$ 20% tip so pre tip only 71$ is an incredible deal. Any one who wants to treat a date to amazing scenery, fantastic service, fresh orchids on every table, and incredible food all for half or less the price of comparable restaurants of this quality and standards Id highly recommend going here. I also recommend even if not on a budget, even if you are willing to pay $200+ for a dinner date for 2 this place will meet and exceed your expectations. Finally after dinner we explored the building and art which was really nice, fun, cool, and interesting. Then went to show room on 4th floor for a jazz show. The venue was really cool and uniquely set up with standard rows of chairs in front, then love seats and couches in the back with a bar at back wall. The show was amazing as well. So whether youre looking to eat, see a show, or just explore and see some art Hotel Henry should definitely go to the top of your list of places to check out. I know we will definitely be going back again soon. ;-)
Stayed for a wedding this weekend and the hotel is beautiful. Having said that I had $400 stolen from my purse that was in my room. When I called the desk to report they sent the head of housekeeping up to speak with me and he was so rude. Basically so much as said I must be mistaken and it was my fault for leaving in the room while we went to breakfast. I was made to feel like the criminal and not the victim. There was no suggestion of taking care of the loss Or comping us our room . We spent a lot of money there paying for 2 rooms and the wedding as my boyfriend was was the grooms father. Sadly while the hotel was beautiful it lacked good management and terrible customer service. At the very least an offer to try and make it right in some way would have been nice and may have lessened the sting of being robbed of $400 by someone within there staff.Brenda Jacobson
Absolutely love this hotel. Modern meets historical and they marry the two very well to make a unique and interesting stay. They encourage you to roam the hotel and grounds and find all the the interesting architecture and history. Great location and a great dining experience if you stay and eat.
We have only had dinner at their restaurant but today we had brunch for the first time, our servers were super friendly as always but the host seemed to be in a bad mood. We were curtly led to a table and left without a word, no smiles, barely looked up when we arrived, sounded impatient and frustrated when she addressed us. Not sure if it was a more serious take on professionalism or if she genuinely didnt want to be there...But it should be noted that servers and hosts during dinner service are always positive and energetic. Not expecting a super chipper countenance by all means but her attitude was a surprise for us. Otherwise the food was very good.
The hotel is absolutely stunning. The renovations are incredible, and the every space is open, comfortable, and luxurious. The catering was also very high quality, and added to the overall wonderful experience. The best spot to sit was the patio, with very comfortable seating and perfect placed in relation to the sun, so its never too hot sitting out there.
I had a opportunity at the Hotel Henery a month ago. Where i was there its a be beautiful hotel but the Management there is very poor they treat employees very poorly.and they dont care about anything but booking rooms with dirty carpets and stained chairs and dusty vents that has never been cleaned. I also had a chance to not only experience that a guess was robbed at their hotel but they treated this guess who was there for a wedding very poorly after she reported this matter. It has happened at this hotel more than once. And i have had the chance to witness they have a problem with bed bugs in room #319 So if you dont want to be a victim of being robbed or being bitten by bed bugs i would suggest that you stay at the Hilton Garden Inn.
Definitely one of the most beautiful and unique hotels I have stayed at. The architecture is awe-inspiring and the high-calibre art found everywhere in the building makes you want to tour the entire hotel. The corner room was spacious and comfortable, and all materials clearly chosen for their quality and clean design. We enjoyed both the bar at night (great cocktails! Happening!) and the restaurant at breakfast (simple but quality ingredients). Added bonus: within easy walking distance to the Albright Knox Gallery and Burchfield Penney Art Center. We will be back!
The hotel is beautiful but they pay employees a low wage. The management treat the housekeeping dept very poorly. There was a employee that applied to work in housekeeping but because of there gender the so called manager name ommit told them that they he thought better for them to work in the laundry dept. More so last month a guest had 400 hundred dollars stolen from there room during a visit there to attend a wedding. The same manager was very rude and very nasty to the guest.
What an amazing place this is!! I have not stayed there but frequently stop in to show visitors what has been done with this building. It is very busy with weddings during the summer months but there is a restaurant and a cute little bar that has a happy hour. I recommend that tourists stop in to see how this building has been so carefully converted into a hotel while maintaining its integrity.
Went to dinner at the restaurant 100 Acres, service good, food tasty. But left the table hungry. Entree portions are for a tasting. Very disappointing, . Had to stop on way home to pick up a real meal. I will not be going back and will telling everyone I can to avoid the restaurant. Way over priced for what one receives. Negative 2 stars out of 5 but I had to post 1 to be able to post this review.
We just returned from a 1-night stay at Hotel Henry for a short girls cross-border shopping trip. We booked the hotel due to an advertisement featured on Facebook that gave discounts to teachers and it was perfect timing due to our spring break. The building itself is magnificent. It is much larger than I pictured after seeing some photos on the website and it is full of old character. Check in was swift and we were showed to our room. The room was spotless, had lovely modern features (automatic blinds, large tv, espresso maker, mirrors with great lightning in the washroom) and the showpiece was definitely the large windows that span almost the entire height of the room. The ceilings are 16 ft tall which also creates a lovely, airy feel.We decided to try the 100 Acres restaurant for dinner, which was on the same floor as our room. It was decorated beautifully and once again filled with charming character from the building mixed with modern features. The menu, although not extensive, features GF and DF options, as well as vegetarian options. We ordered the lemon hummus to share, and the risotto, the salmon and the chicken respectively. Every bite was delicious, warm, well seasoned and beautifully presented. The price for each of these dishes were reasonable and comparable to any casual-dining restaurant where I have been. The service was also absolutely wonderful and accommodating to the needs of one of the people in our party who has a gluten intolerance. As we were chatting with a few servers, we expressed how interested we were in the history of the building (previously home to the Buffalo Psychiatric Hospital). One of the servers asked us to hang on a moment, and returned to inform us that the GM of the building would be happy to give us a tour. Kendra, the GM, happily obliged and took us on a super informative tour of the building, pointing out some lovely architectural features and general trivia about the buildings history, the vision of the doctor who once ran the hospital, etc. We couldnt thank her enough for her enthusiasm and professionalism while giving us the tour- it totally made our night! We also visited the restaurant again for breakfast the following morning. We ordered the avocado toast, the bacon and egg sandwich, and the breakfast special (eggs cooked to your liking with a side of bacon, potatoes and toast). Again, the kitchen staff was very accommodating to my friends dietary restrictions and provided her with a substitute for the toast, which was fresh fruit. Again, the prices were affordable and portions were great. Their coffee was also excellent and their lattes were generous in size.Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Hotel Henry and we will definitely return for another girls trip. The staff truly made us feel welcome and stay was very comfortable. We are pleased to recommend this hotel to any of our friends and family who will be staying in the Buffalo area.
Beautiful updated space inside but outside takes you back in time and feels like beauty and the best, we had drinks on the patio upstairs and it was very roomy. I also had a pizza which was okay, the sauce on it tasted a bit strange. Would definitely recommend this experience. I only wish I got to explore a bit more!
The bar staff was absolutely great! We came in for a late lunch/early dinner in which we were told the kitchen hadnt opened yet but the bartender will go check. He came back and told us we can order and they will make sure it is taken care of and that is exactly what they did! Wonderful staff and beautiful building!
Yes it is all beautiful and well set but I believe more and people should know the dark history about the hotel Henry which is the reason for the one star review everytime I hear the name hotel Henry I cant be live this was an old asylum that would mostly kill their patients
This hotel is one of a kind especially considering its history. It’s a beautiful addition to Buffalo and located closely to Buffalo State College and the Albright Knox Art Gallery. I visited earlier this year for the Corridors Gallery hosted by Resource: Art and I was fascinated by both the hotel and the exhibition. The coffee and brunch was spectacular too. It’s a must see spot and I highly recommend checking out the exhibition as well.
The hotel has an interesting history of being an asylum. But it is amazing what it has been transformed into. Its a beautiful location. When I was down there, they had an event where they lit up the entire building with lights and the buffalo philharmonics were playing and the lights were dancing to their tune. It was an awesome experience.
Never again! I was really looking forward to going to this craft fair but it was a disaster from start to finish. Lets see....inadequate parking, vendors on three floors reached only by the main staircase or elevators.. lines at both. Vendors in small rooms or hallways that were so crowded you couldnt see the wares, many people just clogging the pathways chatting and drinking. There was inadequate signage pointing you back to the main staircase and people were getting locked into stairways you evidently needed a room key to get out of. Never again!
My son had his wedding reception there in August. First, let me start with the positive. The food and service at the reception was excellent! Bar none. The ballroom is beautiful. However, I think they should rename it Hotel Hidden charges. As we were leaving the reception at midnight they handed my son (the groom) a bill for an additional few thousand dollars because someone in the office had made a mistake. Keep in mind he had to have a certified check for the total cost of the reception before it started. This was in front of other guests that were leaving. Valet parking became an issue too. They automatically added $30 to my hotel bill and we never used the service. There was already a valet charge added to the catering bill to cover all the guests that night. Also, we couldnt have used it if we wanted when we left on Sunday morning as a vendor fair was set up in the front circle. One of our guests went down on Sunday morning looking for the valet and they were told they had to go back to the desk to get their keys. I just hope it wasnt the check in desk which is on the 2nd floor.Be prepared to walk. The layout of the Hotel is a tad confusing. The East and West wings dont connect. We had to get out of the elevator on the 2nd floor and cross a hallway to another elevator to get to the West wing of the 3rd floor. We were at the very end of the hall, possibly as far away as you could be from the elevators. My husband has a handicap tag because of his aging joints and the walk took a toll. If I had realized that some of the rooms were quite a distance away from the elevators, I would have mentioned it when making the reservation. The room I booked in November of 2018, a King deluxe, was double booked. I called twice the week of the wedding to confirm my room as I never received the email the other guests were receiving. They assured me I was all set. It was the morning of the wedding when the bride texted me to say that I would be in a standard Queen room that I learned I would not be in the room I originally booked.Pay close attention to the directions for driving into the Hotel. It isnt well marked and if you make the mistake of driving around the front of the building, you could do some damage to your car. Part of the road resembles a war zone. It should be blocked off.All that being said, I ended up talking to a manager after the first 3 people told me they couldnt reverse the valet charge. He reversed the charge, asked me if I had other concerns and promised that they would be addressed in upcoming monthly training meetings so they dont happen again. Perhaps the Hotel got too big too fast and they are working through their growing pains.
An insane asylum until the mid-70s, the now Hotel Henry feels like an awkward hotel. Its unique and does have a charm of its own. It also has winding hallways, odd smells, and an inconvenient front desk to find. All the restaurant tables are awkwardly in the hallway, not sure why many reviews are fond of the food and service (average). Too many positive reviews these past couple months to be trusted imo, but I found my stay positively interesting nonetheless.
Its an interesting building and location with nice amenities, but the staff could do better with consistency and listening to what their guests are saying at check in and communicating that to other staff. We went here to stay for a night for an event where we specifically had a 1pm checkout associated with the event rate. Upon arrival at check in we were told that we have an 11am checkout. I pointed out that our event rate specifically said we had a 1pm checkout on Sunday. The guy at reception said something to the effect of no you dont, but I can see how that was a point of confusion which I found really irritating. So I said In that case then we are specifically requesting a 1pm checkout. Which I dont see as an issue as people sometimes request checkouts that or 1 or 2 hours later at hotel chains all the time. He agreed and said sure Ill put that in.At 11am our phone rings which I ignore since we were sleeping, and then we get a bang on the door and a receptionist saying we have to leave as we have an 11am checkout. I specifically tell the woman we specifically asked for a 1pm checkout and the guy who checked us in agreed to that. And she said mmm no you dont have a 1pm checkout and Ive already checked you out in our system. I informed her that this is unacceptable and were not leaving until 1pm. After a back and forth on this, she relented and checked us back in but she made a pretty combative point to say if were there a minute past 1pm that we would be charged for another day. So I ask now, what is the huge damn deal that we stay in the room an extra two hours? The hotel was half empty on a random Sunday in Buffalo in February. I think perhaps because of the hotels overblown overhyped and pretentious presentations, their staff have a certain sense of entitlement about things. I also think they were especially dismissive and rude to us because we had an event rate discount. I told my friends about this issue who have also stayed in this hotel and they pointed out that they got the same gruff and attitude about having a slightly later checkout and thats why they switched to staying at downtown hotels (better location anyway). What is the deal with this? Next time when we come back for this event well be staying at any of the other downtown hotels or charming Airbnbs in Allentown where this kind of thing isnt an issue at all.
Let me start by expressing what I was looking for going to Hotel Henry. I wanted to explore the place! I have always liked the architectural look of the building from the outside and thought it would be a fun place to explore, and boy was it!The center building is basically the Main building where you check in on the 2nd floor, just be mindful that the ground level is the basement, NOT the 1st floor! The 1st floor houses a restaurant, a bar, and a small a snack shop. The 3rd floor has some meeting rooms, and the 4th floor has a banquet hall. The rooms are located in the east and west wings. They are accessible through very interesting curved hallways. odd numbered rooms will be in the East wing, while even number rooms are in the West wing. If you get a room on the east side 3rd floor, be aware that the hallway from the main building 3rd floor to the east wing 3rd floor was never constructed when the place was built in the 1800s, so it requires some elevator swapping to get to your room. At least that is what the check-in desk tells you. Once you have your room key, you can enter the East wing itself (right where the fitness center is) and take the elevator there up to the 3rd floor. If you explore while you are there, dont just use the elevators and ignore the staircases, you will miss some interesting places if you do! I wont ruin the exploring by listing all that I found, but I will mention that the two tall towers are not supposed to be accessible to guests. But I can confirm at least one houses the heating and air conditioning units, not sure what the other one has, I wasnt able to accidentally wander up to the second one. My hint to any explorer, if you accidentally find yourself in a stairwell with some very nice wood stairs and railings, you are not far from one of the towers. If I was to remove a 1/2 of star, it would be for the room. We stayed in one of their smaller room. We knew it was going to be small, it was clearly described that way it, so I cant deduct anything for that. What I would deduct the 1/2 star for, is what I call attention to detail. The little things that they missed. For example, the bathroom door handle was loose. Loose as in; it came off when we pulled it shut too hard! They have the nice curved shower bar to give you that extra room in the shower, yet half the shower curtain wasnt hooked up, giving it a very sloppy appearance. Like I said, just little things they miss that some guest might notice. As for the feel of the place... The main building rooms and halls were painted warm colors, and definitely had a cozy feel. We drank and played some cards at the long wood table near the check-in desk. The area was definitely inviting and had little conveniences like outlets to plug your phone into while you hung out. There are many little nooks where you can hang out, some had Tvs, others just comfortable furniture. The building was designed so people would hang out in the halls and the little nooks, and the hotel does an excellent job of keeping up with the intent of the design. The buildings where the rooms are located have a much different feel. The halls are painted a sterile white, giving the guests a feeling like they are in a hospital. I have to admit, I liked that. It is a reminder of what the place originally was. Unfortunately I dont think other guests appreciated it as much. It seemed to make it a little eerie to some. Although there also were places to hang out in those hall, no one did. People seemed to talk in hushed voices, almost like they were afraid to disturb someone or something.I cant comment on their food or service of the hotel restaurants, but there are local establishments that have fun atmospheres and good food. Just remember your near a college and the neighborhood is generally a little on the rough side. I recommend going out early and avoid wandering around the streets at night if you are unfamiliar with that part of Buffalo.
Sunday brunch was good and reasonably priced. The service was absolutely awful. Our waiter forgot our coffee and drinks. We went during the Christmas Market. The market was very congested.... I dont feel the space was accommodating for shoppers. I would consider going back but not during an event.
Gorgeous grounds with stunning architecture. The Richardson-Olmsted campus does not disappoint. Hotel Henry has charming nooks & crannies, art along most walls, delicious coffee and bites from 100 Acres and nicely updated rooms. High ceilings give the grand effect. While quirky details reveal the buildings history. A must see (and stay) while in Buffalo.
I pay nearly 200 dollars American to stay in this weird place? NO NOT AGAIN. There was weird smells around like old moldy sock drawer. I try to figure out room service and NO ROOM SERVICE! Also staff is quite the rude. I get lost because hotel is like a maze (with stink smells) and try a door andthen staff lady shows up and yells at me that it off limits. PUT SIGN UP FOR OFF LIMITS. AND SIGN UP FOR WHERE TO GO TO LEAVE! For this much money could have stayed at nicer hotel without weird stink like noodle bowl forgotten in corner for weeks. ONE STARS.
Just left Hotel Henry after a 1 night stay. Staff very helpful and friendly, hotel suite was impeccably clean and very spacious. Would definitely stay here again!! Thanks for making a nice weekend that much more special. Beautiful grounds & renovations on the building are amazing!!
A limitless decorated Hotel w/ architectural features had me in awe! Built around the 1870s Brownstone building was NY State Insain Asylum. Worked on this magnificent building turn around to the beautiful prestigious Hotel Henery, job well done! A Gem for buffalo!Carriage ride added to the Holiday experience!
Cool concept but doesn’t seem ready for guests. Service at the restaurant is slow and the decor is a weird mix of modern and historical. Really wish they would embrace the historical aspect of the building. I think they’ll get there but they aren’t there yet. They also haven’t quite shaken the abandoned building smell yet.
This place is stunning. The rooms are sizable and very comfortable. The staff is incredibly attentive. The restaurant is delicious. The coffee bar is fantastic, and open very late (great for working late or just perking up). There is art all over the hotel, with self-guided tour materials. The restaurant in the lobby provides a real sense of vitality and excitement, without impacting the quieter wings. There are many spaces provided through the hotel to sit with a drink or coffee as a guest. The hotels location is practically across the street from Delaware park, the Albright Knox Museum and Burchfield Penny Art Center, and it is just up the street from Elmwood Village. We parked our car and most times walked to restaurants and bars on Elmwood. It is also an easy drive to and from the airport, as well as the Buffalo Zoo, and the Museum of Science. I cant wait to bring my family back here in the summer to take advantage of all the cultural amenities nearby. This hotel is truly unique, and absolutely spectacular.
The renovations they’ve done here must have been a real taking to.... in some of the hallways they’ll show you the old photos of the building before redoing it and they really tried to modernize the place while still preserving some of its old and unmistakable features. I like that there is art on the walls and a bar, restaurant and coffee shop that is open to the public. That allows for the hotel to not only be for the visitors but for Buffalonians as well.
I just called to book a reservation for early next month in July for an orientation process at Buffalo State College. The lady who answered the phone and took down my information was very rude. I felt so disappointed and disrespected by the way she slammed that phone upon the end of our conversation. I didn’t give a hard time at all. I just asked a few questions pertaining to check in time and check out time. I wished to check out around 2pm as opposed to the 12pm latest she stated. If it was a compensation issue for the later she should just had said so. No need for the hard slam hang up and fake nice! Very disturbing, no bueno!
I was in this weekend for an event on Sunday the holiday brunch shopping event. I must compliment on the brunch. It was very delicious and the hotel looked beautiful. What I have an issue with was they were offering valet parking. One of the boys who was the valet was trying to scam us. We had never been there before and I was unsure of where to go as far as parking. We noticed an area that said valet only and the guy was waving us over and said we could park there for $5 . Of course my thought at first was WOW THAY CHEAP!!! As I didn’t have anything else but a $20 bill, I handed it to the guy and he said he did not have change. As you can imagine I was very confused as to why he wouldn’t have change. After a discussion of not having change he said to me that I could give him the $20 and when I was done at the event we could work something out. I told him absolutely not !! basically He was trying to pocket money while getting paid hourly. It was very annoying and also very dishonest as an employee. Otherwise we had a great time
I am currently staying at this hotel. I am literally writing from the room I am in. First, they promised me state employee charge (104$) on the phone and when i showed up at the registration, they did not accept my state employee id and overcharged me (185$). Staff are very rude. I just called the reception, and they put you on hold as if they are AT&T! I called earlier to ask if I parked on the wrong spot, and the receptionist told me she did see my car on the valet parking (I had given her the model of my car). It was actually not on the valet parking. They lied to me. Very overpriced place just because of its looks from outside. Room is not big. It is very small as if it is in the middle of manhattan. I am only here due to a workshop at the college and I will be complaining about it tomorrow during the workshop. If you stay at a cheaper place, you wont miss anything. Oh, btw, they dont have breakfast! Instead, they have brunch, wait for it, for 30$! Do not stay at this hotel.
The consummate historical setting for a conference in Buffalos art museum district. Expect the scale of the structure to wow you, as well as the quality of service and refreshments. There are a few bugs to work out with the very recently overhauled facility (parking capacity, temperature fluctuations, odd restroom setup and water pressure, etc.). But I do not regret attending.
The actual acclamation was good albeit the hotel is in an odd space but lovely grounds The service since I have left non existence. I have sent two emails as I left something in the room and have not even had a response. You would think customer service would extend beyond payment as I would be a returning guest
They do not change the blankets the bathrooms badly cleaned, the glasses with the smell of chemicals because they cleaned everything with the same products. the poor quality toilet paper and rude employees who do not like to work and you can see them in the surroundings smoking. The dirty blanket and lining of the bed are also dirty and the floor is not vacuumed.
From the moment we stepped through the door (apprently the back door) Paul greeted us with eager passion and excitement! He answered all our questions and showed oncrediinc customer service and passion for the hotel and the history of the building! That was welcomed as I was only there for the building. Paul, (P-a-u-l) was instrumental throughout my stay guiding and providing an exceptional experience! From there, Kevin at 100 acres was on point, courteous, genuine and very service oriented. The hotel Henry has their stuff together. Go. Enjoy the building. The history. The food. The people. You wont regret it.
Location,Location,Location. This hotel is so convenient. If you have a college student that goes to Buffalo State College this hotel is perfect. This hotel is on the same campus as Buffalo State College. My son attends Buffalo State College. And you get a complimentary Continental Breakfast.
Beautiful and tasteful restoration and reimagining of a classic historical landmark . Soaring space with a eclectic blend of original design elements , showcasing the unexpected artistic touches original to the design and new touches to enhance and humanize the spaces and add a whimsical, uplifting element to what may to some seem like a campus with a dark past. Many people are not familiar with the original vision and intent of insane asylums of this type - when asylum meant a refuge, retreat and safe place for someone , only the snake pits that came later . This thoughtful restoration captures the original intent and spirit of the campus as a beautiful and tranquil campus with art, architecture, aesthetics, and a delightful stay.
My family and I had the worst experince with the Henry hotel. We drove 7 hours with 4 kids to buffalo from New York for a wedding party and accidently we went to the wrong hotel. I went to the front desk to check in and they asked me for my credit card. I gave my credit card to them and they charged me for 2 rooms. When I told the manager NATE that this is the wrong hotel that we came to he said sorry we already charged your card. He was not accommodating at all. We were basically scammed and I had to pay for 2 nights when we didnt even go into the hotel room. Not to mention I was with 4 kids. How could u charge someone for a mistake?? You should be ashamed of yourself. I was charged $300.00 for walking into the wrong hotel. We didnt even touch the room. Walked in and out realizing we came to the wrong hotel. Never again!!
This place is just wow. Lots of history built in the mid to late 1800s. Was an old psych hospital turned hotel. They told me at the front desk that I could just wonder around. In some areas you can still see the original floor and walls. They give historical tours of the facility if anyone wants to go on them.
Have been trying to redeem a package stay since August with no luck. Ive emailed multiple times, and have called. Just found 9ut they are closing so tried once more to redeem and no response. Its really horrible to not reimburse people for stays they paid for, or at least let them book.
Really cool architecture but dang is the place HUGE! So confusing. When you enter turn LEFT! DESPITE YOUR GPS TELLING YOU GO RIGHT...GO LEFT. The potholes we encountered driving right were like craters youd find on the moon and I had to drive soooooo slow to avoid damaging my suspension.
Horrible customer service..Nothing worse than having unprofessional and unfriendly staff working for such well known company.. Dave is unprofessional and unfriendly, if you don’t like dealing with people, you are in the wrong field, buddy.. And I was only calling for COVID19 guidelines, very disappointed but I’m glad it happened over the phone and prior to my trip, because now I know not to stay there.
I love outdoor events held on their spacious grounds. The towering Gothic building is made of mostly Medina Pink Sandstone, a regionally sourced stone. The stoness rosy hue adds a warmth to the imposing feel of this former psych center. The number of hauntings reported here are numerous and not hard to believe because up until just a few years ago, in the abandoned spaces, shackles and chains and other now frowned upon ways to rid a soul of insanity, were well documented by urban spelunkers and ghost hunters.
The Richardson Olmsted Complex which used to be a insane asylum has always been one of my favorite places in Buffalo. The story of its ongoing restoration parallels the rebirth of Buffalo. The city is using its past to plan for its future. It now includes Hotel Henry and hosts a variety of events throughout the year including conferences, weddings, a jazz concert series, and has a great restaurant...100 Acres. The question remains though: Does Harry Potter live here?...
I am a recently graduated law student and came to Buffalo to sit for the NY Bar Exam and had the misfortune of staying at brand new Hotel Henry right at a time where I needed to be the most relaxed to sit for an important exam. While one may think a recently opened hotel would be working at its best, Hotel Henry proved wrong. I not only had the most unpleasant stay of my life, but most importantly i felt extremely unsafe. With my mind set on the bar I first overlooked the precarious structure and services that the hotel has to offer - no room service, NO PLACE TO BUY OR ORDER FOOD DURING THE DAY (!!!), mold-smelling hallways - but the last straw came down at 3am in the morning when the hotels alarm went off for 30min. I desperately left my room in my pijamas trying to make my way through the sign-less labyrinth that is the hotel to the exit. To my surprise, there was no single hotel employee in sight to assist the desperate guests out or to inform as it turned out that it was a false alarm. It does not stop here - the episode repeated itself for the following nights at the hotel. No surprise that this time the guests did not even leave their rooms to check - afterall it was probably another false alarm. Now I question - what if the second or third time was in fact true? The hotel was actually on fire? We would just all die?A hotel, as a common carrier, is held to the utmost standard of care to its guests, and if the hotel is not ready to meet this standard, it should not have been allowed to open ESPECIALLY if it is not yet SAFE to accomodate human lives.I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. I feel like im in a haunted house here - the atmosphere of what was once a mental asylum has barely changed.Buffalo city, police and fire department should reconsider the license granted for the operation of the hotel. At this time, the hotel is cleary very precarious and unsafe.
Perfect in every way. I started with seasoned olives that were fresh and topped with lemond zest and coarse salt. Then rolled into the Beet, fresh citrus and feta salad which was out of this world. The bright cirtus flavors were curved nicely by a creamy pistacio vinaigrette.... and then the lamb came out.... and I was once again I was blown away. Braised lamb with chuncks of braised kohlrabi and barley, accompanies by a marcona almond creme and White Cow Daieu yogurt.I had high expectations after watching the develoment of this property, and was thrilled that it went above and beyond all I had expected. So happy to see this busienss thriving.
I can no longer support a local business that claims to be a luxury property but cant pay its debt to reputable local businesses. Shame on you for stiffing good people that do amazing things for Buffalo. You should be ashamed! I wish i could give you negative 5 stars.
I worked as house keeping dont ever get a job there unprofessional . Sonny would do anything ashley says and fire people thats doing house keeping and does really nice jobs at there jobs just to get all of ashleys family in there. The suppose to be supervisor ashley all she does is walk around anduring write down what everybody gets wrong instead of helping she gets us fired .Ashley is a fat lazy girl If u ask me .Thats all to be said all she does is sit around and fake do paper work everyday she comes to work she sits down all day u do not have that much paper workOh yeah and gino told her to vacuum all the floors and what does she do go in all the rooms take all our tips and only vacuum 2 rooms and has her husband vacuum all the 60 something roomsThank u for your time

2020-10-11Beautifully remodeled rooms with a lot of character! High ceilings and tall windows too. We had a large bathroom with a tub. Front desk was helpful and friendly, the restaurant staff kindly gave us directions to the hotel check-in.Cons: our room didnt have a mini fridge and I arrived after dark finding the complex confusing. There was no signage to indicate hotel check-in was in back, just a mild inconvenience. Limited parking if there is an event happening. We arrived back past dark after our wedding at a different venue and had trouble finding a parking space in the lots.

2020-10-25My husband and I came to stay in Buffalo for our anniversary, so we can enjoy a night in Buffalo without our kids. We tried the economy room, but once we got there realized that we had to upgrade to get a room with a big enough bed for 2 people. When we got up to the room, it was a little bigger but did not have much to offer within the room, and due to COVID we had to travel out of the building to the front desk in order to ask for more pillows (because there were only 2 on the bed).As we were about to eat dinner, my mother in law told us she surprised us by paying for the room, so we asked if we got charged twice since they asked asked for my card to pay, as the woman is explaining to me what card got charged for the room, she completely moved on to a new conversation with her coworker and I still don’t know what card was used.I will say the lounge was beautiful and the service from the bartender there was amazing.Overall it is a good hotel if you are only going to the room to sleep, but next time we do this I will definitely be looking into a higher end hotel.

2020-10-23I was sadly very disappointed by my stay here. I have been to 100 acres and recommended many friends here, until I stayed here myself. I will no longer recommend this as a place to stay. Enjoy brunch, but don’t pay to stay here. Firstly, the website is misleading. I paid a large amount of money on a room I thought would be a suite. We booked this for our wedding night as a mini staycation replacement for a honeymoon so I thought we were splurging and getting the good room. Prior to arrival, I mentioned multiple times we were getting married - nothing extra done by the hotel itself. I was offered a DISCOUNTED bottle of champagne for 89$. When we arrived in the room, it was a tiny box. Very different than what I thought we had paid for. The next morning, we quickly realized too late that there were no towels in the room. We were forced to use face clothes to dry off! When we were ready for food, and a main reason we booked this place, we attempted to get brunch and could not as there was a wedding party there. This should have been told to us when booking or suggested that we make a reservation ahead of time due to the possibility of limited availability. On top of all this, we paid an additional fee to have flexible check out as late as 9pm. While this sounds great, we were called the day of asking when we would be leaving. At that point, wet from the lack of towels, hungry from the lack of brunch and now rushed to leave the room, we ended our “honeymoon”. To top it off, I called the hotel to talk to a manager about our stay, talked to a nice man but then received no call back. Not even to apologize for the inconvenience. I was so hopeful and excited for this place and was so sadly disappointed. I will no longer be recommending this place to the many out of town visitors that we have.

2020-09-14Not only was the room clean but the entire hotel was. Blown away with the housekeeping staff for sure. As for the hotel itself, well, theres a lot to talk about there....I have to admit, I was very skeptical of Hotel Henry before my visit. As someone who values historic preservation on more than just a surface level I was less than thrilled about their tenancy in the old state hospital building. I thought it was shortsighted to only occupy the central space with no intent to expand. History has seen many grand Kirkbride buildings irreparably damaged by partial occupancy over a long period of time. Evidence of this is the art museam that now stands where the right wing once ended. I also considered the idea of putting a luxury hotel in the old state hospital to be in poor taste. Finally, modern renovations inside historic structures are done terribly more often than not. One example would be the worthless shell of Danvers State Hospital, another historic Kirkbride building that was completely gutted during its transformation into condominiums. After visiting and spending the weekend I can safely say I was a stubborn fool.Plans have already been set to renovate the current unoccupied space in the structure which is a relief. The vacant sections are well secured and patrolled often. Unfortunately they are patrolled by the police so there is always a cop driving around making some folks feel uncomfortable for having an interest in the building outside the limits of the hotel. Right at the entrance is an admittedly small exhibit about the past history of the building. More could be done to put this information throughout the hotel, but I wont hold it against them. We had an incredible (socially distant) conversation with Laura (please forgive me if I got that wrong) who knew all about the history of the building and the grounds. She really went above and beyond in our eyes and truly made the whole stay that much better. As for the renovation work, some things are left to be desired but I was overwhelmingly pleased with the work done inside the space they occupy. As an interested preservationist I actaully had snuck into the structure years ago to document it, before the occupancy of Hotel Henry. Comparing the building now to how it appears in my photos is really impressive. The hotel retains many historic features, even down to the doors in some wards and original hardware wherever practical. Opening the doorway into the stairwells made me gasp, as they are left almost exactly as they were aside from being remarkably clean. Some areas of the hotel were off limits so unfortunately we werent able to fully explore the structure. However, after having such a great experience, I have no doubt we will be back once covid is dealt with and we have more access to the wonderful structure.

2022-01-07I would love to visit this place, being that its a part of video game history. They filmed most of the chase scenes from Outlast there.

2020-09-07Huge beautiful hotel and a great place to stay. The queen bedroom was very nice, cozy, and the bed comfortable. Only thing needed would be a small refrigerator. The rest of the unfinished hotel/asylum is cool to see and looks from a spooky movie. Highly recommend. Would recommend the hotel needs fire pits outside and a bar.

2019-06-04Spent the weekend here and will be back!!! An impressive property with an interesting history, they have made such interesting use of the building. You can spend the entire weekend at the hotel and never be bored. The collection of art is beautiful, the nooks for reading are beautiful. The bar makes great craft drinks and the food is excellent. The staff is OUTSTANDING, friendly and very very helpful. Yes, the building is confusing but you are never left to figure it out. A member of the staff always came up to me and offered to help. Chris at the front desk was fantastic! Talking with the staff from the front desk to the servers at the bar and resto was a pleasure.Highly recommend!!!!!

2018-08-12I went for happy hour, and I was really impressed. The renovations that were done are just amazing. The glass entryway from the parking lot was a great welcome to a beautiful building that kept many of the original design features intact.I shared some of the crispy potatoes, and the bartender did a great job of selling them. They were as good as described, and went well with a shared order of the hummus. The hummus plate was the best Ive had in Buffalo. The grounds looked great, and every staff member was a pleasure to speak with. The artwork was an interesting collection and a nice bonus to the happy hour food.Ill be looking for an excuse to stay here, and Ill definitely come back for another happy hour.

2020-10-07I had one of the best experiences of my life at Hotel Henry! They were extremely inclusive for me and my partner, including using the correct pronouns for myself. I’ve never felt safer staying at a hotel and being confident that we would have a respectful experience the entire time we visited. We will be returning!
