I mean wine comes included whats not to like , but no microwave in the room, kinda off , but either than those 2 things beautiful room and friendly staff. FRIENDLY STAFF UNTIL. They failed to mention that I had to pay for the ride back even though I asked if the hotel comes with a ride to the hotel. 60$ later , instead I couldve just taken the subway which I had a metro pass for.
My stay here was fantastic. I took my girlfriend here as a surprise. Comfy bed, amazing city view, and one of my favorite parts was the dimming control on the lights. The staff here is fantastic but SPECIFICALLY , Regina and Lester were phenomenal. Any questions or concerns I ever had were answered and taken care of by them. They were both so kind!! Regina helped in all sorts of ways to make sure my room was in tip top shape for my girlfriend. Lester is a savvy vet, a sort of do-it-all type of guy and so so nice. He answered to every one of our special requests.GET THESE 2 FINE PEOPLE SOME PAY RAISES !!
Definitely not a 4 star hotel. The bed was comfy and it the room was good enough but not up to four star standards. Possibly we got the shaft on the specific room (on the 6th floor). Some things that weren’t great: (1) the lighting was terrible. The few ceiling lights didn’t provide adequate or warm lighting in the room. No bedside lights, no lights for the chairs in the room. (2) the bedside clock and phone were a jumble of wires; (3) there were absolutely no small amenities that I’d expect in a 4star room (paper, pen, directory, coffee maker, etc); (4) the bathroom shower had a window that was not frosted so anybody could see me shower from the building that was 20 feet away. I asked to fix that and they pasted a vinyl sticker on the window. Problem solved, but again, not a 4 star experience. (5) the floor was unfinished in some spots (missing moulding to cover gaps). Again not the end of the world, but looked very cheap. (6) scuff marks on the wall; (7) the balcony door was screwed shut.
Had a great view of the Freedom Tower and could see the Empire State Building as well. Bathroom was large. Bathroom shelf was broken and clearly appeared as if the hotel knew and carefully ignored it. We had a major problem with noise. Paid for the 19th (of 20) floor room and there was a party in either the penthouse or somewhere near us that lasted until 4:30am. Called the front desk multiple times (which they checked on), but ultimately the noise did not stop. Even ear plugs werent enough. Also - plan to park in the municipal garage around the corner (they dont tell you that on the website).
Beyond amazing! Jay the concierge went above and beyond for us, I have never met a nicer, more helpful person in NYC. Our room was gorgeous, views for miles and the Japanese soaking tub made it genuinely blissful. The bed did not disappoint with big soft comfy pillows and the coziest blankets around youll definitely sleep like a baby. Complimentary wine hour from 5-6 did not disappoint, everywhere you go the views are stunning; combined with original artwork this hotel is one we will surely come back to again and again!
Whatever you do, DO NOT STAY HERE.The photos online are completely deceptive and inaccurate. For nearly $500 I was shown to a dark, dirty, and dated room with beds that looked like mattresses on the floor. The bathroom was also gross and dated.I went to the check in desk to ask for a new, cleaner room with hopes the next one would be as pictured online (floor to ceiling windows, new beds, clean rooms) and even on my booking confirmation. Instead, the room I got was somehow worse. Just as dirty but this time the furniture was all scratched, bathroom tile damaged, and long strands of hair on the desk.I grabbed my bags and went back downstairs to check out. I expressed my concerns that the photos online look nothing like the rooms and that both rooms were not clean. The manager would not offer me a refund because I had already checked in. He took my information and told me someone would be in touch. I took my things to Moxy East Village where I had an amazing stay -- clean rooms, comfortable beds, great amenities, and HALF the price.Days later I tried to get a refund through my credit card. They called the hotel and were told, again, that because I checked in, they could not refund the $500 charge for the 20-30 minutes I was there going between rooms and then leaving.Avoid this place at all costs. Im not one to complain about a hotel room or leave, but this was so bad I couldnt stay even with the threat of no refund.
Stayed one night and the best example I can use to describe the experience is this: I went to close the bathroom door and the doorknob literally fell off. There were many other things related to the room that were unsatisfactory as well but that sums it up nicely. It seems like this place use to be nice but has became the type of place for people with more money than taste or brains
Good choice - Will recommend!Stayed for 2 nightsWhat we liked :Location , neighborhood and connectivity Clean Rooms and bathroomsStaff was very friendly All queries/ requests were handled promptlyWorth the money for NYCWhole family’s favorite “Economy Candy” is right across street What we did not like:It was almost sold out so we ended up getting a lowest floor room and it didn’t have the greatest views.
I was specifically looking for a hotel in Manhattan that could accommodate my 2008 iPod. I was so ecstatic to find out that Hotel on Rivington had what I needed to help fulfill my weekend getaway by supplying an iHome player for my iPod that I still use. Over the weekend I chose a selection of albums that helped my stay be fun and relaxing and they only that could have been possible with the iHome. I highly recommend this place for their location, views and iHome players.
Without a doubt the worst hotel experience Ive had.Had booked a stay at the beginning of 2020 with my girlfriend. Was very excited because the pictures and reviews made this place look great and it seemed like a really solid deal for the price.Pulled up out front to unload our luggage and were greeted by the bellhop. Gave my card on file and my drivers license to my girl so she could check in while I parked the car. When I returned, I found her looking frustrated on a bench in the lobby. Even with my cards and license they wouldnt let her check in and were quite rude to her about it. We brushed it off and went up to our room.I had upgraded our room to a corner suite and was very excited because the pictures looked amazing. We were immediately disappointed. Very awkward decor... strange giant pictures and cheap uncomfortable furniture in a frustratingly dim room. Looked closer and found incredibly shoddy contractor work (paint mishaps, bad caulk jobs, loose screws, outlets that come out of the wall when you remove whatever you plugged in to it).The cherry on top was when we opened the closet and found a variety of sex toys and a menu for any additional toys or lubes we may want. Not knocking that stuff in general... but man is it bold to just leave that stuff in a closet without having the guest maybe elect to have it when booking the room. Also found an open bottle of lotion tucked in to our bed... so.... guessing they didnt change the sheets after someone enjoyed that lotion... in bed....I went to the desk, complained of our issues with the room and explained how nothing in the hotel (down to the lack of an advertised game room on the website) was as it was portrayed on the website. The gentleman at the desk informed me that the hotel changed owners a couple years ago so a lot of those pictures are out of date/inaccurate. He said they wont give me a refund, but offered to let me change rooms. They called someone to show me another room, but it was just a smaller version of what we had for the same price so we stuck it out.
Nice decor. Awesome vibes. Staff were friendly and helpful. However, we had a small issue with our steamer in our room. They did the best the could to fix it. But alas, it was unrepairable. Fortunately, they were able to rectify it, 3 nights before our check out time by moving us to a new room. And a nice one it was. We got a very hefty upgrade from our original room.I will definitely be coming backCheers
Had a great experience at this hotel. All staff were very helpful and the rooms were clean. This was my first visit to NYC, so I wasnt sure if the fact that there were no full length mirrors in the rooms, lighting in the bathroom wasnt the best and they didnt have an iron in the room was something along the norm in NYC hotels. I had two oatmeal raisin cookies placed on my nightstand each night which was a very nice touch. The bed was very comfortable as well, and I appreciated the dimmer lights throughout the room. I would definitely stay at this hotel the next time I visited NYC.
Hotel on Rivington is an excellent hotel in a great location is near Chinatown, Soho, and Katz’s Delicatessen restaurant, where you can get the best pastrami sandwich. The room came with three chocolate chip cookies next to the nightstand. The view was amazing! I love the view of the city in the night and in the day. The bath robe was the best bath robe I ever put on it’s was so soft and warm. Even the living room had a nice view to the city. I gave the hotel three start even though it is excellent hotel for the reason the room I got had a window crack when I walk in in the room I didn’t notice the window was cracked not until I lay down in bed I notice that the window had a huge crack. I immediately called front desk to let them know about the crack window and for them to come see it. They front desk guy and maintenance came fast to the room to check it out. The front desk guy told us he can give us another room but will be on the lower level. I got disappointed with the offer the main reason I book Corner Studio room in that hotel it was cause of the room view!
My room was Gorgeous! We spent valentines night here in the high floor king with soaking tub and balcony suite and I loved the room. Check in was quick and easy, the staff was professional + polite. I love the privacy of the hotel! (lobby on the second floor). The mini bar was so affordable! The soaking tub was definitely the highlight of my night! Dont let my photo fool you. This tub is huge and can easily fit 2 people. Im 52 and could have practically swam if I wanted to. We ordered room service for breakfast and the food was great as well. I will definitely be booking another stay very soon!
The the high end room with a balcony & hot tub is not all the hype it was promoted to be. Balcony is tiny and doesnt feel safe being out there. The worst part of all was the refrigerator when we opened the door it was full of dust. Dust roaming into the air. We couldnt tell if it was bugs or dust mites. Called the front desk and alex the rep laughed about the situation. Very in appropriate! They never sent no one to clean it after requested! The manager refused to compensate stay. All he offered was a free basic breakfast. Thumbs down! Not worth the price they charge to stay there!
Great location.,Great Staff., Excellent View!We were a bit early for their 4pm check in and while we were waiting they offered us complimentary wine and snacks in their lounge which is something that they have daily between 2pm and 6pm. very nice. Noticed that a lot of artists musicians and writers staying there. Perfect for us!Great room service - We ordered and again the staff was amazingly friendly.Complimentary cookies in the room was a nice touch.High quality bedding and bathrobes. I didnt want to get out of bed it was so comfortable.Excellent over all.
I think this hotel is good for the value if you are not expecting too much. The beds are comfy, its location is fantastic and friendly staffs will welcome you. But the rooms seem to be not maintained very well. Our window was broken when we arrived and the bathroom door was too tight. You will be able to see some not-very-pro things in this place.
We loved staying here, and would definitely stay again. The size of the rooms are great, much bigger than most NYC standard rooms, and the views are awesome! I loved the big window! My only complaint would be, the hot water in the shower was lukewarm at best, which we endured without saying anything, but in a colder season we definitely would have had to.The location is great, theres a subway station just around the corner, and once you get your bearings (without the numbered streets), the area is very walkable, and theres good restaurants nearby. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful, we had a few packages delivered, which were no trouble at all, and even though we arrived before 9am, our room was still ready and waiting for us (absolute heaven after a 24hr+ journey to NYC!)
I wanted to stay Hotel Rivington for quite some time. The architecture of the hotel is very unique, providing each room with spectacular views of the city .I would suggest getting a corner suite if you can. Which provides a view of the city from each room in your private suite. The mini bar was amazing, providing you with countless goodies and liquid refreshments. Dont miss an opportunity to stay here and experience downtown NYC at its best.
Really enjoyed my stay here. The room was clean and the views were amazing. We had a nice little deck that was perfect for sipping wine and watching the sunset. The staff were very friendly and attentive. A call to the desk for some ice and it was in our room just two minutes later.
Has gone down hill a lot since we last visited over 10 years ago. The extra bed we ordered in advance for our son was not in the room when we arrived. The phone in the room was broken as well as the safe. Neither were fixed in several days we were there even after reporting it to the front desk on several occasions. Thick layer of dust over several areas. No compensation was offered, wont be staying at the Rivington ever again.
I used to stay here easily once a month. My best kept secret in NYC. The rooms are large ( rare find in NYC ) and the views are awesome. Get a room with a tub, you won’t regret it. I also had great experiences with their staff, never anything they couldn’t do for me! Highly recommend.
Very pleasant. Gorgeous views. Little strange to have some windows without ability to cover like in the shower with a deck right below our room (feel like i have to hide sometimes for peeping toms). We stayed for our wedding night and was hoping for perks for the special occasion, but didnt get anything more than we paid for or offered any upgrades. Tried to get a higher floor with the same room type with no luck (I think we are on the lowest floor of our room layout).Overall good experience, but lacking in making us feel like a special place besides the views.
Splendid! The staff is friendly and wholehearted. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was satisfactory. The rooms are tastefully done with great views. We asked for a top floor room for this very reason and they accomodated our request. Room service From check in to check out, a seamless experience. We will be returning.
What an incredible place and experience. Food is delicious. Service is great. Place is so comfortable. And beautiful. Its a bit strange coming in because concierge is on 2nd floor I believe but theres no sign saying that on the first floor and entrance area of the building 🤔🤷♀️ beautiful closet, and robe, and little things that just make you smile. Definitely recommend.
I attended as guest at a recent event in the penthouse. The staff was incredibly kind and the space was absolutely beautiful. The location of the hotel itself is very convenient to the subway and nice bars/restaurants nearby. I cant speak for the rooms but the hotel lobby was invitingly decorated. I would stay here as a guest if I did not already have an apartment nearby.
This was our first overnight in the city so we didnt know what to expect when I booked an affordable hotel. Friendly staff. Beautiful room. Exceptional shower which is important to us. A beautiful view of the city with ceiling to floor windows. The subway was just around the corner which gave us easy access to the city. Walking distance to local bars and food. I will book here again.
We got married in NY and needed something close enough to the venue in Brooklyn and nice enough for our mini-moon. We thought the room decor was nice. Value for money would be hard to beat. The location is great for access to the city. The restaurants are all pretty good. Service was very helpful.
Great location, clean, large rooms. The tempurpedic bed was very comfy! We checked out today after staying 4 nights in the corner king. Views are 🙌🏻! Floor to ceiling windows and a balcony. The bathroom counter was a decent size for nyc. The hotel is pricey, but so are the others in LES. I’m not sure it’s entirely worth that much money, but if you want to stay in this area, that’s the going rate.
My wife and I went here last night, hotel was very clean and the staff was very pleasant and even up graded us with no added cost without me asking. Room was clean and the view was great.. the restaurant downstairs had great food as well. we would stay here again and recommend it to other people looking for a decent priced hotel in a great little area.
Weird hotel. The entrance looks like a side exit leads through a short tunnel/art piece that I was told was inspired by eggs in a condom. The lobby looks like a coat check. My room on the 17th floor was spacious and had a great view. I was really pleased...until I checked out the bathroom. The shower has a floor to ceiling, clear glass window to the street. Its the entire width and height of the shower. Basically, they expect you to shower for the whole world to see. I had them put up a paper screen to avoid performing a peep show. I can appreciate funky and I get what theyre trying to create...but its not succeeding. The Hotel on Rivington is on my black list. Better to watch Pulp Fiction than live it.
Thank you to Gio who helped make our reservation. The rooms are kept very clean. Room are quite big for standard hotel rooms. The large shower drains into the vanity area of the bathroom while the toilet seat cover slides off every time you sit. The facilities at the hotel were very good.
A clean hotel with all amenities. The decor is highly sophisticated simplicity. Ask for a high floor room and get a great view and much more quiet. The soaking tub is a MUST. I couldnt stop taking picture from sunset and then at night with all the gorgeous lights that NYC has to offer. Id go back.
The decor in this place is awesome! Dont let the vestibule fool you: it is tiny and nondescript on purpose. Very comfortable accommodations. Stayed with my friend who was out of town. We were very comfortable. The room was very art-deco inspired with lots of chrome and mirrored surfaces. Very neat!
Decent value considering the area and similar offerings; the neighborhood is mostly very high and low end rooms. This was clean, the bed robes and bathroom were all well above average. No real writing surface, desk etc. Very basic, meant to be minimalist, but sorry if just feels unfinished at times. Balconies are sturdy, but did feel scary, nonetheless. Recommend a higher floor for less noise/better view.
This weekend I went to celebrate my 2 year anniversary. We bought the Unique Room, and was down graded to the Corner King the same exact room We both stayed in two years ago. The staff never let us know we were down graded, due to a air conditioning problem. I had to call down to get any information about why we did not get the room we paid for. We waited for hours and got no reply from any managers which is very disappointing that no one even contacted us first on behalf of this. The staff was not helpful with trying to get in touch with the manager. We emailed him and never got a reply. I am very disappointed that we did not get to stay in the room we paid. They tried to accommodate us with free breakfast and a small fruit plate. This was supposed to be a special night and it was ruined by the awful experience and service we had. We should have been accommodated a night in the room we actually paid for. This hotel is falling apart since the last time we stayed, and it’s a shame because it could have potential to be nice. I am so disappointed at my experience here and lack of communication from the manager.
Great hotel! Modern with an awesome vibe! Staff was top notch! Bellman were friendly, front desk staff was professional and helpful, especially Cody. He was especially helpful and had fantastic customer service skills! Rooms were always neat and clean! The turn down service with fresh baked cookies was fun. Breakfast at Cafe Mede was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the avocado toast! The bar was awesome, the rose martinis were amazing! The bartender; Svetlana was so nice and mixed the best drinks! Great location near SoHo! I will be back!
The Rivington Hotel surpassed all expectations we had! Not only was the room perfect (glowing city view), the hotel staff was a pleasure to interact with. Ken at the front desk was extremely pleasant when we arrived late on Friday. He went very far out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. We would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will be back next year!
I stayed here for one night in February 2018, NEVER AGAIN.We requested and reserved a room with a balcony. We were first sent to a room with a balcony door that did not open, so a balcony room where the balcony couldnt be used. We called and requested a room with a working balcony and were moved to a room 2 floors lower with a balcony over a parking lot and smelled a little moldy and wet -- we stayed for less than an hour before going to an event. When we came back less than 3 hours later the room was partially FLOODED. We called, told them about the flood, they said it must have been the toilet, and were condescending in our assessment of the flood which was actually coming from the window (it was raining that night). After a maintenance person came up and indeed confirmed that the water was coming from the window we called the front desk and moved to a THIRD room, but one withOUT a balcony because those were booked for the night. So we ended up in a room without a balcony which was the reason for staying in the hotel for the night in the first place, to sit out and enjoy the city view. The most disappointing part was that the hotel staff werent apologetic about it at all, as a matter of fact a front desk person called our flooded room one of their shower rooms and proceeded to laugh which was definitely in bad taste and let us know how little they cared for the inconvenience they caused us for the evening. We will never go to this hotel again. We previously stayed at Hotel Indigo and wanted to try something else in the neighborhood. I much rather go back to Hotel Indigo, theyre service was stellar.
Our room had a beautiful view. and was furnished with a comfy bed and chairs. The fixtures and the closets were showing signs of wear and were in need of an upgrade. I seem to remember the toilet hissing intermittently throughout our stay, the shower head just sort of dumping water everywhere, and the balcony being more or less decorative. Turndown service was prompt and thorough, and everyone who tended to us was great. The complementary glass of wine offered at the bar was a nice touch. On the Saturday of our stay, there was a very large event happening on the 20th floor. Lot of people, and very loud music. Being on the 19th floor, we heard everything as it continued into the night. Had we been made aware of it ahead of time, we could have arranged to be out during the event or asked for a different room. Unfortunately, we were not aware until it was too late. Overall, the hotel is very good. Close to a great many restaurants and bars, steps away from the Williamsburg Bridge and public transportation, and friendly staff and service makes it worth the stay.
This hotel has seen better days. It needs a touch up. Nice design but its tired now. The staff is nice but not very professional. They try but they miss the mark when it comes to what you would expect from a boutique hotel especially one in this area. The bellhops were nice but looked like the maitnece staff due to the black pants and golf shirts. The cafe medi restaurant staff again was nice but really dont have a clue when it comes to customer service. They used a bottle opener on their personal keys to open my beer at the bar. The curtains in my room looked like the original curtains from when the opened in 2005 but have yet to be cleaned. I really liked the concept of the hotel but it needs a good scrub down and touch up along with some training for the staff from a professional hotelier. If they take a few steps to get back on track I would give them 5 stars. Maybe its time to get a new manager. Its obvious the current one doesnt walk the property or pay attention to details. So because of this I will only give 3 stars.
Ok..... so i really wanted to love this hotel, man..... The beds were comfortable, the view was good, the staff was nice. The bathroom was where the problem was. It was dark, musty, the curtains stink, smelled moldy, the tub ran slow. I mean everything that could have been wrong with the bathroom was. That kind of ruined it for me. However, the location was good. LOTS of food options around you. Make sure to hit Supermooon bakery!
I was beyond impress with the interior and service Hotel on Irvington provided. The staff knew how to make us feel extra special and took care of us. I wasnt expecting too much regardless of the great reviews, but was so grateful and pleased from my experience that I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable NYC hotel. When checking in, we asked what floor we were on which was the 10th. They asked if we wanted a higher floor. YES, PLEASE! The corner, 18th floor was stunning. I booked a room for Christmas weekend last minute and the rates are so good for the quality of this hotel. My Christmas weekend in NYC was perfect.
Great location, and the rooms are nice enough. Unfortunately the toilet in our room didnt work, and the staff was only minimally helpful. We had to ask for a separate room for the morning to get showered and dressed, and the staff kind of made us feel like we were imposing on them.
Unbelievingly negative experience. Do not take our word for it, check our profile to see our reviews of close to 50 different NYC hotels we have stayed at in the last 5 years. Absolutely and certifying the worst.1. Prior to our arrival, we have tried to contact the hotel via their websites Contact Us option. No reply whatsoever for 3 days. After my comments on the hotels Instagram page, we were given the email address of the reservation and were promised that our rather insignificant request of checking in 2 hours earlier, at 2 PM instead of 4 PM would be taken into consideration. Not only that didnt happen, but after being told that our room wasnt ready, we were prompted to schlep our suitcases to the ground floor. How about the hotels staff taking care of it?2. The bellboy, upon seeing our suitcase, told me to get it to the storage room, without moving himself. No assistance whatsoever.3. We were asked to provide our cell phone number and were told that we will get a phone call when our room is ready. To no avail. Shortly after 4 PM, when we inquired about the update, we were given the nonsensical explanation that after 4 PM, there was no need for a phone call, due to the customary check-in time. So, when exactly our room was ready? 3:59 PM? Or 3:55? If it was 3:55 why no promised phone call followed?4. The upkeep is below average, with scuffs on the walls and doors.5. No reading light by the night tables, only the overhead light fixtures.6. The so-called fitness center, a tiny room with cramped in two treadmills, one elliptical and one bicycle (and a few resistance training machines and free weights) was nothing but a joke, with only one treadmill working. When asked the employee about the issue, the gentleman kept plugging and unplugging the machines with zero end result.7. Upon checking out of this nightmare of a hotel, we were told repeatedly that the receipt would be sent to Expedia. What Expedia? We booked our room via Amex Platinum Traveling. Our King Corner with Balcony featured a nice view to the Lower Manhattan, but unlike Midtown hotels, so does every other hotel in the area, be it Sago, Public, NobleDen or 50 Bowery, all due to the different urban architecture in the area, and the absence of the mass of skyscrapers. Also, our rate was $428.08 per night, and that is during off season. For that amount of money, you will be so much better off at any of the decent neighborhood hotels. The final proof to all of the above is the total lack of management response to the reviews on TripAdvisor, both negative and positive. It is considered a good practice on the part of hotels management to respond to their guests reviews. Nonexistent in the case of Hotel on Rivington. Our experience with hotels Cafe Midi, even though only visited briefly, while waiting for our room, proved as negative and sub-quality as of the hotel itself. We found a good and affordable parking right around the corner, but wont mention it here, for we absolutely suggest you pick a different hotel for your stay in the LES.
It is a very nice hotel but not luxury. My guess is that when it was first opened it was amazing, probably like the Citizen hotel collection. The problem is that they have not kept up with the maintenance. The maintenance is not a problem, it is just not pristine. The bed was super comfortable, the floor to ceiling windows were nice. I would not stay here again but if you can get a deal, you should try it out, it is in a great area. If you go out of the front door, hang a left and then another left, there seems to be a cool area. We did not get to explore it as much as we wanted.
This is a great place. Its kind of swanky and needs a bit of updating such as fresh paint and faster elevators but the service is phenomenal. My wifes company has hosted an event and everyone loved their rooms. We especially loved ours it had a great view from the bed and even the shower had a window with a view. We also had a large soaking tub and access to a closet and mini bar. The staff is also super accommodating and will gladly give reccomendations when asked. Theres a convienance store right on the corner for late night needs, sushi, and a few bars around. Its also a short walk to the famous Freemans bar. Its a great location. You also cant beat the breakfast and coffee at cafe medi.
Despite being promised early check in, it took over 6 hours to get our room, meaning it was beyond the advertised check in time by the time we got our room. Many people arrived after us and were issued rooms (and upgrades). Reception then forgot our luggage, and after two hours my husband had to go and fetch it himself.Room (54) was dark and overlooked by many other windows in the neighbouring buildings. The smell of polish/Febreeze was so overwhelming when we entered the room. Great selection in the mini bar, including sex toys and lube, which is a bit weird IMO.After having the room serviced, the cleaner left an empty coffee cup behind. Room and hotel is average at best and calling it boutique does not justify the price tag
Like every hotel, it has pros and cons.Pros:- Excellent beds (memory foam) and bedding- Quiet HVAC- Good water pressure, no hot water issues- Spacious bathroom and in-room storage- Good mini bar selection- Location is fairly central with lots of restaurants and bars within 2-3 small blocksCons:- Very poor lighting in the all-black bathroom and almost no ventilation- Lots of things are worn-out or broken (loose outlets, wobbly door handles, window handles falling off) which is not really acceptable for a $250+ a night hotel
Unforgettable Experience and Impeccable AccommodationsI planned a trip to Manhattan during 4th of July weekend; and acted on a recommendation from a friend who stayed in the two bedroom terrace and raved about it. I contacted Hotel Rivington in preparation of my stay. I made a simple request to receive a room with a soaking tub, and they delivered that, and so much more!Throughout my stay, the hotel staff at the Rivington were consistently prompt, accommodating, friendly and had no trouble making me feel right at home. The Owner’s Suite is superb, with modern, posh furnishings and high end amenities. I absolutely adored the room’s decor with neutral colors and appropriately chosen dark red accents. The room is exceptionally spacious, and can be compared to a large flat, city view apartment. From the moment you enter, you will surely appreciate the layout, and the astonishingly beautiful floor to ceiling windows which completely add to the open feel of the suite. I really enjoyed the impressive city views from the balcony, and enjoyed the huge walk-in closet behind the super comfortable king sized bed even more! The linens were wonderful and fine. I didnt feel like getting out of bed in the morning nor leaving the suite, thats how much I enjoyed it!The bathroom was so beautiful and relaxing. With gorgeous stone tile, and a free standing tub; you will find the bathroom to look exactly as the picture depicts. The natural light in the bathroom was perfect during the day; and when it was time to settle down in the evening, a nice soak in the tub with a relaxing drink, or a shower in the equally impressive second bathroom was all I needed. Both were like new; exquisite and impeccable. In the evening for dinner, I decided to visit the Co-op and ordered scallops, steak cooked in whisky, and kale salad as recommended by a highly knowledgable waiter. The food was absolutely delicious, and prepared to perfection. I have a gluten allergy, and the chef was accommodating, and was happy to honor special requests.Valet guys, Lester and Jerry were awesome. Quite friendly, personable and didnt have to wait long for my car nor luggage delivered to the room. Lester has a very good memory for his job, he doesnt forget ask or need help with.Great, hip lower east side neighborhood, a lot of bustle on a Friday night. This experience made my 4th of July weekend much more enjoyable, as I had such a relaxing evening the night before, especially in the wonderful free standing tub. I loved the Rivington and thought was unique. I felt comfortable and at home, not stuck in a hotel room.I hope your experience at the Hotel Rivington will be as positive as mine. I will, without hesitation be delighted to stay any time I’m in the city!
I stayed here for 4 days recently with my wife. I stayed here on a Sunday night and was initially impressed by the artsy entryway. What really surprised me was the rooms. The staff were great. Everything you could want is in walking distance. The price for the hotel was very good.
I stayed for one night at the hotel in a king suite. The bed and bathroom were great. The room was clean and prepared on time. The room had a balcony visible from the room and bathroom but it was unfortunately bolted shut. They gave us cookies. We were room 62. Great location. :)
Hotel on Rivington was great. The hotel has very nice view of Manhattan. The staff was nice and accommodating. The location of the hotel was conveniently located near good bars and restaurants. The only issue I had with hotel on Rivington was that they wanted to charge $70 for parking. Meanwhile, theres a municipal parking right around the corner. I was able to park overnight and didnt even pay $20 dollars.
Went to this hotel because of a friend, without a doubt this is the worst hotel, staff, and customer service I have ever experienced. To start, they seem to have a serious issue with maintenance because when we were checking in they informed us that there was no hot water and they weren’t sure when and if it would be coming back. On top of that when we inevitably decided that staying in a hotel in an NY winter was a bad idea and decided to find another hotel their front desk was very rude and barely communicating and wasn’t sure if we will be charged the entire stay. Fast forward turns out they did charge me the entire stay; funny enough once I claimed I️t they became chatty and tried to explain to the CC Company their policy. I would strongly advise any one looking at their reviews to stay almost anywhere else, there are much nicer hotels in much nicer areas in New York for much less. Couple come to mind, Gansevoort Meatpacking, the old Park Ave location which is now Royalton Park Avenue.
If 0 stars were an option -- Id proceed with that...I canceled my reservation prior to my stay -- before cancellation deadline so I would not be charged a fee - spoke to the front desk who was flustered with the amount of people staying there for the July 4th weekend. They keep trying to charge my card -- were on 5 times just today, 8/27 over a month since my scheduled staycalled the front desk and they were extremely rude and told me they will keep trying... wouldnt transfer me to a managerNOT WORTH THE HEADACHE -- so many other places to stay that offer more for your buck
They charged me for a room I did not know existed. Received 0 confirmation email, only an invoice for $500. When I called politely to ask why I’m being charged they told me I booked the room. When I asked how and when they only said “google” and that it was my fault? VERY rude and from the previous comments I can tell that they constantly try to scam people out of money for rooms they don’t know exist.
This is a review of there event space on the 20th floor. I was not a guest of the hotel.Located on the lower east side the Hotels 20th floor penthouse event space offers a speculator views of NYC. There are 3 floors that have plenty of seating and enough space for people to move around. But the real highlight is the roof lounge. Great views in a late open space with seating, large wicker benches and soft chairs, and standing space for large groups. The staff was friendly and the bathrooms clean.
My husband and I stayed in this hotel for a business trip for 6 nights from June 9 to 16. There are many positives about the hotel but let me go directly to main negative: the front desk.Upon check in, we were greeted by a woman named ELMARIE who will go down in our books as one of the worst receptionists we have EVER dealt with. So this is what happened: We checked into our hotel room on the 9th floor and were surprised by how untidy the room was (hair on the couch, hair on the bed, dust on bathroom, chipping walls, candle wax in the bathroom burnt, sticky floor). We called Elmarie and told her our situation. She then started arguing with us over the phone saying the room was cleaned. BUT IT WAS NOT. I had to practically beg her to send up housekeeping to inspect it. She then told us that we can be transferred to another room if we are willing to wait outside for a couple of hours. The housekeeping came and we showed them the room. No response from Elmarie for the next 4 hours. We had to call her to ASK FOR AN UPDATE. She said that the room was inspected and it was clean and that there was nothing she can do. SERIOUSLY?! She had to wait 4 hours and us calling her to tell her this? I asked to speak to the manager and thankfully he moved us to a much better room on the 14th floor. Honestly, weve stayed in different kinds of hotels - from the Sheratons of the world to the St Regis to the Ritz - never have I encountered a receptionist as plain arrogant and unhelpful as Elmarie. But wait, there is more... Strike 2 is when I called the front desk the next day asking for complimentary water. It was again Elmarie. She told me that they should have refilled the fridge. I told her they havent. Instead of just sending up two freaking bottles, she told me sorry just wait the housekeeping to refill it. It was 7pm. I was done dealing with his horrible receptionist the entire stay.Aside from Elmarie which is the main negative, the hotel had a lot of positives:- great view from the room- comfortable linens and bed- good airconditioning- absolutely wonderful location- great manager who helped transfer us to a better room- delicious breakfast every morning- really lovely hotel housekeeping lady who cleaned our room every morning! She was the sweetest!- rooms bigger than most in NYCIts really sad and eye-opening that instead of the 5 star review that this hotel could have easily gotten, I have to take off 2 stars all because of Elmarie and her horrible attitude. And it seems like a lot of people have noticed. When we were at breakfast, we chatted with a couple visiting from Europe and they had the same negative feedback about the receptionist (surprise surprise: Elmarie) and her attitude. To the hotel management, please hire front desk people who help guests solve problems and make their stay better and not the other way around. People like Elmarie are doing a disservice to the great amenities you offer.
I walked in and found that the bathrooms next to the lobby (2nd floor) were filthy and unusable, so I mentioned it to the staff at the desk. As I waited for the elevator to leave, I heard the staff mocking me for mentioning it. I guess they’d prefer to have bathrooms filthy with feces and who knows what other bodily fluids? What a totally inappropriate response to a customer who simply mentioned an issue she’d found with their facility.
Omg this place is FIRE!!! Drinks are REALLY expensive though so be prepared for that. I ordered 2 jack n cokes and paid $40. Other than that, atmosphere is awesome, great crowd, dope events, and they are apart of the Select Black Card network that that brings it to 5 stars.
Ive had the fortune of spending the last six months in ≈20 NYC hotels ranging from 2,000-room behemoths in Times Square to several Lower East Side boutiques and without question, Hotel on Rivington offers the most enjoyable hotel experience. The location, amenities, and personnel are all of the highest regard.
Out of all the hotels to chose from in NYC, we chose the Hotel on Rivington via our online exploration because of its location in the lower east side - which we wanted to explore - and because of its modern architecture and décor. Although there was a one hour room delay (fixing a smoke alarm - excusable), we were delighted upon entering our corner room on the 14th floor. Incredible views to the northwest, north, and Brooklyn! The hotel management proceeded to surprise us - 4 knocks on the door: first - a lovely comfy cot for our daughter, second - a bottle of champagne for my 65th, third - a bottle of fine red for the delay, fourth - a plate of cookies! The Café Medi is superb. Thank you for a memorable birthday in NYC~
Attended the 4th of July party at the Penthouse @ Rivington. Beautiful venue, remarkable views from the rooftop terrace! The food was good and the drinks were flowing the entire night. I would highly recommend attending the 4th of July party here as long as the fireworks are on the East River!
Quirky hotel, very funky, think shiteditch London or digbeth Birmingham for UK equivalents. Staff friendly apart from the Asian doorman who literally threw our cases at us after storing them and was terribly inconvenienced by us asking for him to store them on check out and sadpy that will be outlr last impression of the hotel!! The hotel is over priced in its current state as things are broken (table leg on patio, door handle, window cracked) and thats such a shame as it could be amazing. Just needs some tlc than it will be worth a revisit and 5 stars.
Hotel on rivington is in the heart of the Nolita area and is surrounded by art galleries and hipster restaurants/bar. The actual hotel is absolutely beautiful and has a rather interesting view of the Freedom tower. Even the smallest room is extremely romantic with luxury linens, seperate shower and bath and stocked bar and romantic amenities
Spoke to MarcAnthony Crimi, General Manager, and he could not have been more curt, disingenuous, and rude on the phone when calling for a reservation, which was made even worse as it sounded like he was eating food while speaking with me on the phone. If his attitude and behavior are indicative of the level of service and professionalism at the Hotel on Rivington I would not expect much from this hotel. I dont write reviews, in fact this is my first, so I will just end with... I WOULD NEVER STAY at a hotel run by someone like MarcAnthony, Crimi!!!
Normally when a hotel states, Check-in is between 12 and 4, you take this to mean that you are free to check in during that window of time. Here, apparently it means they might have a room ready for you at some point during that time. Having waited more than 3 hours during this time for my reserved room to become available, I am left feeling like a fool. Here I sit in the very Hotel on Rivington lounge, unable to settle in and take advantage of what $520 per night has to offer. Very poorly handled, can simply not recommend.
I LOVE YOU GUYS!Ken is amazing and took care of myself, and a guest we had staying there for a week. The rooms were stunning, service was outstanding, and although there was quite a bit noise from a party occurring under us they took care of us right away and offered complimentary breakfast which really made up for it. The view is amazing and sheets are very comfortable. I also took some FANTASTIC [email protected] on Instagram to see videos.
Great hotel though we booked a three person bedroom 2 adults and one child and when we got in our room there was only one large bed so we though we had the wrong room so then we went to reception and they told us that it was and 50$ a night for a roll out bed that was not comfortable I was not satisfied with my stay and will not be going back

2022-03-16The hotel was amazing. The rooms were great, superb location, comfortable bed, balcony was an added bonus.. great view, friendly staff! The only thing keeping this from 5 stars was that the gym was lacking. Other than that, 5 star experience for sure!

2022-06-16When I walked in the hotel, I got a bad feeling. Nothing fancy, there is no lounge, just small check in counter. But when I checked my self in the room, it blew my mind! Spacious (for NYC standard), cool interior and nice bed (true to the size, it’s rare!) I love this hotel and definitely book again!

2022-02-09I loved the hotel. The room was clean, spacious, included a balcony (though small) and a very large tub. However, my favorite part of the whole place was MARTHA MARTHA MARTHA!!!! Her energy was so perfect and she was so sweet and kind. Will be returning ❤

2022-02-15I rarely ever write reviews for any place I go to, much less a hotel, but I think my opinion could be useful when someone is booking the hotel for themselves.Overall, the location of the hotel wasn’t bad. It was next to popular restaurants and it was convenient to a few stores. However, the ambiance of the hotel seemed dated. Gave me motel vibes (hey maybe that’s me). You could tell the hotel’s upkeep had been forgotten about. The room I stayed in, (which had a bathtub), was fairly decent. It was spacier than I anticipated. But the room wasn’t super clean. There were faulty paint jobs, a brown stain on the bathroom sink which couldn’t be removed, light pink stains on the wall next to the bathroom, in the tub and on the sink. Couldn’t be removed either. So we moved around it. Fingerprints & stains everywhere. We also didn’t have towels & our trash can was removed. A half empty toilet paper roll was left and wasn’t changed prior to us coming in. The night of, we went to speak to someone at the front desk, but in my opinion he was dismissive & said that’s how the room is & said we should speak to house-keeping & another front desk worker in the morning. We toughed it out for the night because it would have been too much of a hassle to change the room (after all, my partner set up the room for Valentine’s Day). Overall, it’s not a terrible hotel for the decent prices you get on third party websites and it’s location, but a 10/10 would never stay again or recommend it to anyone.

2022-01-11Was upgraded to a executive king suite which the bathroom smelled of sewage and looked unclean. They have black toilets which looked like they had specks of dirt in them and seemed to be unclean. I hated the decor of the bathrooms and strange pictures. The halls had red carpeting and more strange pictures and were dark. The hotel isn’t 4 star, classy or anything but a cheaply furnished room that happens to have decent city views. No restaurant, no breakfast or good vibe despite whatever they tell you. I would stay away and spend your money elsewhere.

2022-02-01Gross hotel and very poorly taken care of. The first room I was sent to after checking in had stains on the duvet and drapes, peeling wallpaper, broken light switches, and a metal table where I could see the scratches from people chopping up there coke. I complained to the front desk and was sent to a much nicer room that was still not perfect. When I filled the tub in the bathroom glitter from the last residents floated to the top. There are 0 amenities outside of the rooms. I’ve had a better time staying at the double tree quite a bit further downtown. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel is okay definitely has suffered a lot in the last few years a lot of closed store fronts but that’s most of New York now anyway. This hotel has defiantly not been renovated or refreshed in a LONG LONG time please save yourself the skin crawling experience and book somewhere else especially for the price you would be better off at a large chains economy option or somewhere further uptown. NYC hotels are always a gamble and I’ve stayed in some kinda gross ones but this one took the cake.

2022-04-11The pictures you see on the website or they provide . I REPEAT a Catfish ! It’s not accurate . This place is filthy , and looks completely not like the pictures they advertise . The area is very sketchy . And the building is old and worn out ! They don’t clean the rooms properly , the toilet was broken , the Door knob fell out and the sofa was filled with white stains ! so I would say this.. carefully read the reviews . It’s a lot of fake reviews on here . Also when I complained about the room being dirty and nothing like the pictures . I got cursed out and they referred to me as “You People” are never happy . So there racist too! It’s not worth the money ! I attached some pictures so you can see how filthy this place is !

2022-04-03Stayed here for 3 days, there was hair on the bed, pillow cases, along with the head board the door knob to the bathroom was broken, we were supposed to be on the highest floor when we booked, there were specs of finger prints along the room and bathroom. the tub/shower and balcony were nice but it’s still to dirty.

2022-03-06The first room I was in was so cold you needed socks to walk around so your feet weren’t freezing. They suggest you close the window blinds but that’s not enough to keep it warm and kind of goes against the point of the big window perk. The room doesn’t go higher than 68 degrees. The tv was also broken so couldn’t use it in that room. The water was warm at best and ran out very soon after finally filling the big tub (small light water pressure hose for the size of the tub, takes 30 minutes to fill). The second room they sent us to was slightly warmer but only in the one spot the heater was hitting. Was still pretty cold and had to use my husbands body heat to be comfortable and I enjoy a slightly cool room at night. The sink in the second room was also busted and leaking and the one time I used the toilet, it would not stop flushing. Thankfully the manager was nice enough to give a refund which is why im giving 2 stars instead of 1 but definitely ruined Valentine’s Day.

2022-03-10READ BEFORE YOU BOOK!!! The receptionists were extremely rude, they have us a different room than the one we booked. Arguing that there was something wrong with the web site and that that is separate from them. If youre staying here consider that there will be a lot of additional hidden fees, and the included breakfast is nothing else than a yogurt and a dry fruit. But the worst came at the end, when by mistake they left us out of our room and we had to sleep on the lobby. Worst experience in a hotel in New York City. For that price you could stay anywhere better on the area.
