Overall, I am quite disappointed in this property. The rooms are tired and poorly lit. I had to go on a treasure hunt to find lights only to find out that with each light on I still was not be able to read. The rooms are loud and you can hear every foot step and conversation next door and above. When doors close, the room shakes. For a tapestry collection property, I am extremely underwhelmed.
Overall a decent stay The Skyler. After they made us wait 20 minutes at the check-in due to their own internal billing issues, we got to go to our room. The hotel itself is a bit dated in the rooms and hallways, but the lobby area is modern and bright. Definitely felt clean and ready for Covid, although not everyone was wearing a mask, including some staff who had their masks pulled down. Not sure I would stay here again, but still an okay choice if you have to visit the University area.
The level of service at this hotel is above and beyond. Its an interesting concept, being a historical synagogue that was converted into a hotel. My room had an odd layout because of the conversion, and it had a strange hallway too with many ramps. Everything was extremely clean. The reviews commenting on the wooden floors and being able to hear everyone walking are true. Other than that, my only other issues was that the lighting was not working properly in my room. It was actually quite small with a window that was higher up than usual. This is irrelevant to me, however, when I receive excellent service. If youre looking for a really clean, updated room, with outstanding service, this place is perfect!
Hotel was decent and close to the University. Perfect walk. Esmeralda?! Maybe a manager at the front desk was extremely rude and condescending. And loud. We made a booking through Priceline and called in to extend it pre arrival. The girl at the hotel confirmed, hence we did what we though we should do. When we got back they checked us out. We let her know what happens and she wanted to argue with us, and was loud - I matched her tone until she brought it down. Ruined our afternoon. Horrible person for treating customers that way. I will call Hilton directly to file a formal complaint.
We had a great experience at The Hotel Skyler this weekend. Hotel was immaculate. Air was cool and fresh! I enjoyed the spacious and clean rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. The covid reduced breakfast was adequate. Id like to come back when the bar and hot breakfast are back in service!
Clean & basic. Nice to have parking & breakfast daily was decent- sandwiches, yogurt, bagels, etc. I wish the rooms had more amenities, such as coffee maker or shower caps. Tiny window so no natiral light in room. No upgrade offered as a Diamond member and hotel appeared pretty empty. Walking distance to many dining options & convenience stores.
Loved our stay here. The hotel is beautiful as well as historic. All modern amenities including keyless door and gate openings from your phone. Excellent breakfast choices, especially in light of most hotels not offering any at this time. Staff were very kind and attentive. Clean rooms and close to Syracuse University, which is why we visited here and will come again.
This two day stay was truly a disaster. I am a professional and with my wife have rarely experienced such a disaster. The room was steps below a hallway, meaning one had to schlep luggage down stairs to get to a room after taking the elevator. The heating did not work and the room was 50 degrees Fahrenheit and could not be changed. The sink was clogged and had to be probed. This was a former synagogue and converted poorly to a hotel. Go somewhere else.
I cannot say enough about the fantastic find. First, a beautiful boutique hotel. Second, the staff is the epitome of hospitality, every expectation and request was met with a smile. The hotel was clean and furthermore was offering daily refresh. I have spent 37 nights in hotels so far this year and this was the only hotel that offered daily refresh. The breakfast choices were plentiful, and coffee was available 24 hours. The ambiance is like a bed and breakfast with all the amenities of a full service hotel. Great location, easy walk to SU, Upstate Medical and XO Taco! Well done Hotel Skyler and Hilton!
The beds are comfortable, but the walls have no soundproofing in this hotel. We could hear loud talking, televisions, walking/movement in other rooms late at night and very early each morning. The Internet did not work at all for our two night stay. We were told it required a separate phone call to βtroubleshootβ with Hilton corporate. The information was provided on a printed notice when we repeatedly asked that it be turned on for our room. Clearly a common problem at Hotel Skyler. No access for three days. The rooms are not cleaned daily during a stay of three days. Apparently you might be able to request this as a βspecial requestβ? Not worth the $140 all-in daily price.
Very nice hotel within walking distance to Syracuse University. FREE parking. Friendly, helpful and welcoming staff! Thank you ladies for all the restaurant recommendations and fresh brewed coffee. Comfy pillows, beds and rooms. Definitely stay there again.Note: thin walls and no coffee in the room but coffee is available in the lobby.
Do not bother if you are looking for a charming boutique hotel. The old wood floors creak so that you feel at any moment like youre going to fall through the floor. The decor is hideous. The lobby is a vast cavernous space with no charm. The staff member checking us in lacked warmth of any kind. I was wecomed more the night after when I stayed at a Homewood Suites. What sounded like a great idea-staying at SU in what I remembered being a synagogue- now turned hotel-was anything but what we expected. NOT a boutique hotel at all. Just a rundown looking place with large halls and narrow rooms. This has turn3e me off of anything labeled Tapestry Collection.
Positive: Breakfast was a great touch Negative: The noise at night (over a three night stay) was ridiculous. From creaky floors to heavy walkers...and guests using the door locks as door stoppers (two guests across the hall let their door bang 27 times one evening). I realize these were rude guests,
Room is spacious, clean and comfortable however the walls are paper thin, so much so, that I can hear my neighbors walking through their rooms all night long. Itβs us unfathomable that a floor would squeak with every step and that I can literally hear a baby crying from across the hall and two doors down. Architecturally, this place is a train wreck.
I love this hotel. Unique design, clean, great staff. Breakfast was just right, the servers were friendly and helpful. The room was neat and clean. I will mention I think we had a ghost with us in room 132. Twice each night we were there, I was awoken by creaking footsteps in the room and the sound of a bouncing ball. I never saw a ghost, but sure did hear one. This hotel is a member of the Historic Hotels of America. I will stay here again, most definitely in room 132.
Our go to hotel when visiting our daughter in college. Clean, convenient, and comes with breakfast. Close to Syracuse U. and restaurants. I left a computer charger and the housekeeper turned in and the front desk immediately called me! Great customer service. Our go to place when visiting Syracuse
Was very impressed with the hotel and felt staying there was a very unique experience. I do a great deal of travel and feel hotels like this make the stay an experience instead of a hotel room that looks like every other hotel room in the world. Very modern, clean and comfortable throughout. Great location. The hotel staff was absolutely fantastic and friendly.Definitely worth the stay and I look forward to staying there in the future if my travels take me to the area.
Fantastic experience. We stayed here the night of our wedding. They were generous enough to upgrade our room and give us a complimentary bottle of wine. The room itself was very clean and comfortable. The morning breakfast is also quite good. Overall we were incredibly pleased with our stay here, though only one night. Would definitely recommend.
I was in a standard room for 2 nights. Comfy beds, good pillows, everything was clean and modern. The breakfast was standard hotel breakfast fare. I was able to check out a little late and the wifi was good and free. Decent bar in the lobby and everyone was very friendly and helpful. I appreciated that they had a free shuttle to the airport as well.
The hotel staff was very friendly at check-in. The Hilton honors points program had a bit of a problem with my booking and the staff was cognizant of of this and went out of their way during the check-in that helped defuse the problem. The hotel is still operating under civid restrictions and has not opened up bar or breakfast operations as of yet
Wasnt able to stay because of maintenance at Parkview, which I get, but they sent us to their sister hotel (Hotel Skyler) which isnt pet-friendly and they wouldnt accommodate us, even though it wasnt our fault that we specifically reserved Parkview because of their pet policy. Seems like a problem on their end that isnt the fault of the guests and that their guests should be accommodated for their problem.
I was here for work and got in super early. I asked Kayla at the front desk if I could just hang out in the lobby and work for a few hours until my room was ready. Arriana and Kayla were so sweet and got me in a room well before check in. I was totally fine waiting but they were awesome!!! Customer service is great, the breakfast is nice, free parking and the beds and pillows are heaven. I travel with my own pillow and I donβt even need it here. Showers are spacious and the pressure isnβt strong because itβs an eco friendly hotel but itβs a rain shower head and got my hair super clean. The stained glass windows are gorgeousI will definitely be staying here again when Iβm back in town.
This hotel is very unique. Ive loved seeing the city around me, although the construction never makes for a good time. But if you have time and patience driving around the city is a must! Close to all the amenities, delicious local places. Great BBQ. Overall the hotel is a comfortable friendly stay with a great breakfast easy access to a small gym, and amazing rooms that have a renovated modern feel without losing the character of the original build. Beautiful.
Its a unique and very nice hotel. Because Im a diamond member I was lucky enough to get upgraded to the loft suite. Its really fun its kind of kicky and the bed is very neat youll see it in the pictures with the trees on each corner. Someone mentioned that the beds were rather soft and Im kind of with them on that. I had an okay night sleep but I prefer a slightly firmer mattress its really personal preference. The staff was uniformly wonderful parking is very easy and its in a very convenient spot right downtown. For such a nice place, the rates were rather reasonable as well. Id seriously consider it...
This hotel used to be a synagogue and looks like it was so this will be different from most other Hilton hotels. However, this doesnt take away anything from the hotel. The rooms are well kept. The hotel is generally clean. The staff are courteous and helpful. The bar has a small menu (more for snacks). Theres also free breakfast every morning and the fitness center provides the minimum.
We booked this room at the last minute on one of the deal websites. We decided to take and chance and couldnt have been happier! The hotel staff were very friendly, and the hotel was clean and beautiful. We felt like the only guests there, it was so quiet. Our room was beautiful and far exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was excellent. We will definitely be returning.

I stayed here this week while in town for work. The staff were amazingly helpful, the business center computer was down and I was able to email them a form I needed and they printed it out for me :) the rooms are GORGEOUS! I stayed on the second floor, and the hallway is a little confusing when youre looking for rooms 228, 229 and 230, but other than that... Ill definitely be returning here whenever Im in town for business. The breakfast was delicious, the location is perfect for me, and I cannot stress enough how great and friendly ALL the staff were. The staff are definitely what make me want to return to a hotel :)
We recently stayed at the Hotel Skyler with a block of rooms for our wedding weekend. The front desk staff was very friendly (Brian especially went above and beyond) to make sure that our stay was pleasant and enjoyable. The rooms were beautifully furnished and decorated. Each room was set up differently based on the buildings unique architecture. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was clean and the shower water pressure was good. The only complaint I have which other reviewers have mentioned was that they did not serve free coffee and tea in the morning. Otherwise, I definitely will be staying here again next time Im in Syracuse.
I surprised my wife with the Treehouse Suite for her birthday and she loved it. She loved the tree theme and the cool bed upstairs. Itβs not terribly far from where we live but it was the perfect single night getaway. The hotel is super clean and decorated nicely. The staff was friendly and helpful and we had no complaints at all. It would be fun to stay again some time. Secure parking behind the building was a plus.
The hotel itself is nice. Beds are comfortable. I had a lot of issues upon check it and check out. I saw others commenting on great customer service but I had the opposite experience. They were supposed to call me the next day about getting money back to the room they demoted me to since the room I booked was now unavailable. I never heard from anyone. I called days later and left my name and numbee for management and still never received a call. I was very disappointed in the customer service experience.
One of the best hotels Ive stayed at for Hilton in many years. Michael at the front desk was welcoming recognize me as a diamond member and reassured me that if I needed anything he would be available. Even laid out his schedule and how to get ahold of him. The room was clean warm cozy and the bed is perfect. I walked to a few neighborhood spots to eat and to shop for small things I needed for the room. Free breakfast hot coffee and warm tea. A must stay if in Syracuse.

Really cool older architecture. Very close to the Carrier Dome and University. Front desk person was very good, and they let us check in early as we were heading to a game and a big snow storm made us want to not drive home. Room was nice, but the junior suite was not as pictured. Bar and coffee shop on the premises and free parking was nice.
Were checking out today after a 2 day stay and weve been extremely happy with our stay. The staff have been amazing and the rooms are incredibly comfortable. The fact that its walking distance to downtown is a huge selling feature as well. Oh and the bed is insanely comfortable like sleeping in a cloud. We will definetely be back.
This is my go to hotel in Syracuse for work. Its steps away from our field office and the staff is always AMAZING!! I had accidentally requested a room that would have put me on the second floor, and when I called to request a first floor room at the last minute the were more than happy to accommodate me... Ive stayed here on short notice and for a week at a time, its always consistent with excellent service, immaculate rooms and the breakfast is great too! Everything that makes me a loyal Hilton customer!
First of all I am a Hilton Diamond member, so I know what Hilton properties are like. I spend way too many nights in hotels away from my loving wife. Having to work a weekend for the first time in 5 years the Skyler looked like a cool place to hang out. I am not impressed. night number 2 and I decided to grab something from the pantry. I understand they are going green but not to chill the beer or anything inside the cooler is ridiculous. The shower spits water at you because it too is green. Apparently they are saving water but when it takes you 30 minutes to rinse off I am not sure if that is accurate. They are without coffee makers in the room because that is green somehow also. The bed is comfy and the room is quiet otherwise you got nothing else going for you
Stayed for 2 nights and will be back. The rooms were very clean and charming. Michael and Kayla at the front desk we professional and nice. Kayla was very informative of the area and had suggestions of places to visit. The housekeeping staff was nice and friendly too.
Nice modern hotel inside with a historic exterior. Within walking distance to campus and resturants. Only downside is they didnt replace the floor/ceiling between the first and second floor when it was renovated. you will hear the room above you walking around, hopefully they arent returning from the bars at 2 or 3 am.
This is a lovely, clean and well appointed hotel. The staff is incredibley accommadating. They truly provide service with a smile. The breakfast is delicious and the team that work it are amazing. I want to point out when I say clean, I mean it! I am known to my family and friends as the female version of Felix Unger. I have walked out of hotels if they dont meet my standard of cleanliness and this hotel is clean. I will be back!
Cool new hotel in Hiltons brand new Tapestry Collection. I was informed by the woman at check in that the building used to be a synagogue, and there is beautiful stained glass and wooden floors in the lobby area. The hallway on the second floor is rather maze-like, probably attributable to the buildings former purpose. But the room is very modern. One oddity though - my walk-in shower did not have a door, meaning water would just fall on to the rest of the bathroom floor. Overall, a cool concept. I would certainly stay here again.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Skyler. I wont lie, Syracuse is not really a nice looking city, but this hotel is a gem! The room was extremely clean, the shower/bathroom area was really nice and clean, internet was fast and dependable, and the bed was really comfortable. Overall, it was a very aesthetically pleasing room to be in, and my dearest and I really enjoyed our stay. I would suggest this hotel to any friend or colleague.
A nice historical building with a modern aesthetic. A few points off because my room was only accessible by going up and down about 8 stairs in the hallway. So if you have lots of heavy luggage or boxes for work as I did, this is an annoyance. They do have lots of free parking but the spaces are tight and getting in and out requires a bit of maneuvering.
We recently visited Hotel Skyler for our 16th anniversary, and am pleased to say it was a wonderful place to stay. Upon our arrival we had the pleasure of meeting Michael, he was VERY professional and polite. He took his time to explain the details of the hotel and the many attractions in the area. I was so pleased with him that I offered to buy him lunch the next day, but he declined my offer and said it was his pleasure to serve us.If you are looking for an AWESOME convenient hotel in the downtown Syracuse area I highly recommend Hotel Skyler.Thank you to all who made our anniversary a good one... Michael youre the BESTπ!
Didnβt have the Expedia booking that I had made the previous week. But the staff was quick to give us a room and figure things out later. Room was very nice. Bβfast buffet isnβt the grandest of what Iβm generally used to, but has enough for a overnight stop over place. Will certainly book again.
Unique-looking rooms, friendly staff, and intriguing holding design. Hotel Skyler presents a special stay for anyone visiting the Syracuse area. Converted from an old synagogue, there isnt anything quite like it. Rooms are clean and modern. Theres even a staffed bar on the first floor!
I have had nothing but a wonderful experience at this hotel. They picked me up from the airport, got me into an available room early and helped to tell me and show me around. The breakfast bar was just enough and the room was very European in styling but American in size. It has been one of the best hotel experiences I have had in the states.
Okay so I want to start off my saying I never write reviews... EVER! so bare with me as this is my first attempt.Pulling up to this hotel you donβt even realize itβs a hotel. It looks like a beautiful stone museum, and the interior doesnβt disappoint either! I felt like there was no way this could be my hotel because it was just too beautiful. The first person I talked to was Kayla. From moment one she was kind and attentive and ready to help. My friends and I were staying in this hotel from out of town for the Ozzy concert for my husband and our friends birthday presents. We booked this hotel due to the fact that we could get a double queen room and split the cost. Kayla went above and beyond accommodating us from the beginning. She, out of the kindness of her heart, supplied us with a room that would better fit our needs. Additionally, she supplies us with water for the next morning to aid with recovery. The next person we met matched the outstanding customer service Kayla provided us and we were not disappointed. Kyler was our bartender and provided good conversation telling us about the location and between him and Kayla we were able to navigate the city. Now on to the room, we were in awe from the moment we opened the door! Our room was a Treehouse suite. This room had a loft!! The loft housed the most comfortable king bed I think I will ever sleep in, the main floor had a couch and a twin bed along with an amazing bathroom. The vaulted ceilings really made this room feel huge.As I left the next day Kayla was there to send us off. Her enthusiasm for her job and her amazing customer service along with the entire Hotel Skyler staff have made this trip even better than I thought it would be. I will be recommending this hotel to anyone that tells me they are staying in Syracuse. The staff really went above and beyond to make sure anyone who stays in their hotel is comfortable and feels as though they are in a safe place. Thank you for everything you did to make this birthday weekend celebration amazing for my husband and our friends. I WILL be back.
Hotel Skyler is conveniently located to Syracuse University and downtown Syracuse. However, my wife and I were not impressed with the upkeep of the property nor the staffs attention to detail. Hotel Skyler is not a boutique hotel despite the Tapestry Collection designation.
I am a silver Hilton honors member and my 2 night stay at hotel skylar was great. My family and I stayed in the 1 king bed treehouse suite and the room was a good size and the 2nd floor of the room (the treehouse) was so fun. Breakfast was good and staff was very kind. Would definitely return.
First time I have stayed at a Tapestry Collection Hotel within the HHonors. I was impressed by the cleanliness, hospitality and the ATD (Attention to Detail) Factor. So glad to see this older building being repurposed as a awesome hotel. Early on Saturday Morning, I was using the Business Suite and the Manager (Bob) came by to ensure all was good and if I needed anything. Hotel within walking distance to several restaurants as well as College. Will return again and will look forward to the next stay within the Tapestry Collection. . . .
Friendly staff clean great proximity to hospital (Upstate) where my husband was having a procedure done breakfast was good , only reson didnβt give it 5 stars was we were on a handicap room as husband is in a wheelchair it had a handicap shower but no shower chair or corner seat for him to sit in so he couldnβt take a shower and it would of been nice to have a small fridge so we could keep our drinks cold
Fantastic experience at Hotel Skylar! Priceline overbooked the hotel and they had no rooms left, which was terribly bad news after the long work day i had. Sheneika helped fix my reservation (although it was pricelines mess up) and upgraded me to an outstanding room :) I am so thankful for the level of hospitality that she showed me, she went above and beyond her job requirements to accommodate me. As a constant traveler, all I want at the end of the day is a nice, clean, comfortable room and they have FAR exceeded my expectation. I will absolutely be staying here again and recommending this to all of my fellow travelers out there!!!
Had an excellent experience at Hotel Skylar. Highly recommended! My Husband, myself & our 2 pre-teens were attending a concert at Lakeview amphitheatre. The staff was top notch, helped us with logistics to the concert and local customer service questions. The room was beyond amazing. Thanks so much. β€οΈ Memories
It was not good, I made reservations for airbnb at Skyler but I was booked for copper beech. I was given a rate of 150 and was told that keys for the Airbnb would be waiting. Got to Skyler no keys and no Airbnb available. They did have a room at the Skyler for a more expenses rate. Talked to a few people, would not give me the rate that I was quoted and I that I was aware that I was reserving copper beech which is a flat out lie. Not a good way to do business.
The worst hotel during our trip in NY. Very expensive without free availble breakfast. You have to pay for each cup of coffee. If you stay for the WE, be carefull an store fruit sala in you romm fridge. Sunday morning there storage is empty!!!!I could not understand such greed.Fred-from France
Hotel skyler never disappoints...comfortable beds, spacious rooms, earth friendly toiletries, free notepads in the room, complimentary wall street journal in the am, scrumptious healthful bfast (scones, muffins, oatmeal, fritattas), and a pot of coffee brewing 24hrs/day.walking distance to upstate hospital, SU, crouse.

2022-05-22This was such a charming place, so beautifully modernized in a place with some incredible character. I dont know if all the rooms decor is identical, But the room I was in on the third floor had some shadows casting onto the wall and the one piece of art definitely looked creepy as all get out, when the dark stormy cruise ship reading escape, suddenly looks like it has skulls as well. π€£Also, the air conditioning doesnt work in this room. Its definitely a hotspace!

2022-01-31Another GREAT stay at the Hotel Skyler. The staff is unbelievable. We had several things go wrong with our rooms and they went above and beyond. The location is perfect for Syracuse University, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, there is a grab n go breakfast right now but its great, free parking, etc. This was our 4th time staying there and will continue to do so.

2022-04-13Itβs a small hotel. Parking space is tight but free. Queen bedroom for 4 people are located on ground floor only. At night itβs difficult to spot the hotel if youβre walking towards it from Syracuse University Dome events and takes more than 10-12 min walk. Breakfast is good but , they serve boiled eggs as the only protein, not egg omelette.

2021-11-29My stay at the Hotel Skyler in Syracuse was excellent. Bed was comfortable, breakfast was tasty and included a range of options despite being grab-and-go, the room was spacious and quiet, and hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Ive stayed at the Skyler multiple times pre-pandemic and during this trip (Nov. 2021) I was pleased to see that it is just as wonderful a stay as always. Highly recommended!

2021-09-04The lobby was very pretty. Our room had a unique half circle window. It was otherwise very similar to most other Hilton hotels in that price range.Breakfast was decent though nothing spectacular.Service and staff were fantastic. The only reason I didnt give it five stars is because of the cookie cutter Hilton vibe it has. For a hotel that bills itself as boutique hotel I expected a little more flair or uniqueness in the room.I would stay again but would also just as readily stay in any other hotel in the same price range.
