House of Pizza in other cities:
.Update: 3/10/22 things arent as good anymore. roast beef definitely steamer table, not as tasty, overcooked. had fried clams tonight; could not bite into them they were so overcooked. manager would do nothing about it. fries were cold. had water, but got charged for soda (2.29). this is 4th time this year ive eaten there, and i dont think its worth going back. prices are too high and food isnt that good.
My party and I decided to leave after some very uncomfortable glances were exchanges between our party and the server. Despite seeing how the waitress treated the other tables she did not make our table feel welcomed. We are just visiting this town and I simply won’t be returning. We left and went to the local friendlys where you’ll never guess…they’re friendly to everyone.
Unfortunately this place lost 3 customers today. Our family has ordered many, many times. After ordering a few pizzas and getting one that did not taste right and had to throw the whole pie out. We called to let them know. Instead of offering to remake it or credit us back a new one...I got screamed at in the background that they do not accept complaints, that their food is always fresh and that they didnt want to hear anything we were saying. I was very nice about the whole conversation but unfortunately this restaurant has terrible customer service. I would not recommend calling there.
I now live in Philadelphia and drove 5 hours back home with House of Pizza’s roast beef grinders in a cooler. If that doesn’t let you know how good they are I don’t know what will! I have lived in New York and Philly and there isn’t a grinder better than Gloversville’s House of Pizza.
First time dining inside. Arrived about 4:30 on a Tuesday. There werent to many people there when we arrived. There was plenty of seating(booths). Place is bigger than it looks👍. We noticed it started to fill up very fast and thats a good sign.Waitress Cindy was phenomenal! She was at our table within a few minutes to get drink and appetizer order. She was back a couple minutes later with the drinks and took our main dish order.Appetizer was at the table in about 5-7 min. Mozzarella sticks, best Ive ever had and the marinara sauce was equally delicious 👍. About 10 min later my salad and a couple warm buns with butter arrived. (Buns unexpected 👍)About another 10-15 min the main dishes arrive.I got the steak tips with mashed potatoes and salad. My wife got the Italian combo . Both dishes were a tad on the high side for price. Although after experiencing the atmosphere, the unexpected buns, the larger than expected salad and the incredibly tasty main courses and the mozzarella sticks and how full we both were, WELL worth the cost! This was our 31st anniversary and we couldnt have picked a better place. The Name of the restaurant is a little understated.Thank you for a great dinner, Keith&Brenda
One of just a few good restaurants left in this area. House of Pizza has been around for quite some time now and it continues to impress. I am not a major restaurant goer, however prices are reasonable and you will not be disappointed with the quality of your food either way.
I want to love this place. The food is fantastic but it ends there. I don’t understand why they do things the way that they do. They are the only restaurant I’ve been to that doesn’t allow wait staff to collect payment, so you have to stand in usually a pretty long line to pay at a counter. This causes congregations of people waiting to pay the bill which isn’t something that should be happening, especially when we were in the height of Covid. Then if you want to order pickup you have to go to a drive thru window. The line is always super long and you have to wait well past the time estimate they gave you. Even when the line is short you are stuck at least 20 minutes, I can’t imagine how long people wait when it’s all the way across the parking lot. I don’t understand the logic behind it, if someone comes too early and their food isn’t ready what is the outcome? Sit there and hold up the line or get sent to the back and wait half an hour to make it back to the front? Every other restaurant just has a counter or designated area inside to pick up your order, or you can go to the counter and ask for your order. Similar places allow you to park somewhere and your food is brought out to you, surely with the plentiful parking space this wouldn’t be hard to do. Collect the customers car information and you’re all set. This was mass adopted during Covid by almost any restaurant you can think of. There are so many better options than causing a 1/4 mile long line in a parking lot that has more than one other store. In this era it is common practice to offer services like this and plenty of small business have adapted to it. I think they would be near perfect if they managed their processes a little more efficiently.
Usually Id give this place more than two stars except their quality and more so customar relations have gone downhill fast. This is not my first issue or I wouldnt be complaining, believe me, but I ordered a turkey grinder tonight, THERES NO TURKEY! I ask for who is in charge tonight and told Gus. I hear Gus say in background I cant talk right now. Really? Well folks, heres the deal... this place USED TO be good. Unfortunately, they are too busy to tend to quality and paying customers. So, buyer beware.
The food is consistently great and prepared in a timely fashion. However, the staff (particularly male staff) need a little training in the conversational aspects of customer service. I have a serious issue with rude or indifferent servers, and House of Pizza has both! Guys, try Hello, Please, and Thank you while I hand over my hard-earned money to keep your business alive. I really dont care how its done in the Olde Country, we use manners here.
The best pizza in the Gloversville/Johnstown area, no contest. Their speciality pizzas are to die for. I highly recommend the Adirondack pizza, but anything off their speciality menus is delicious. The rest of the menus is well rounded, reasonably priced, and effective. One of the best restaurants in town overall, if not the best. Go, you will love it.
Chicken parm was great, ordered a side of fettuccine with garlic and oil ( definitely an up charge), that’s fine I don’t mind, its what I really wanted. But, disappointing that there was NO GARLIC at all in the pasta. Just oil and seasonings. Pasta wasn’t bad, and it was seasoned properly, but no garlic what’s so ever. Missed a very important element to the pasta
I was pleasantly surprised at how good the pizza was here! Randomly picked this place to grab some take out on our way to an airbnb. Friendly staff and very clean, large dining room. The pizza was some of the best Ive had in a long time. Kinda deep dish like P. Hut, but waaaaay less greasy! And loaded with toppings. I literally thought about that pizza while I went to bed, and then had another slice again in the morning! Yum.
House of Pizza, was a wonderful place. There menu was pricey, how ever they had good family friendly options. Three of us had calzones and one had fish. Everyone had great service and full bellys. Dessert was a round of raspberry cheesecake. Small peaces for the amount, yet it was very tasty.
Absolutely disgusting cold food! Chicken piccata with angel hair came out as just chicken and mushrooms with no lemon garlic wine butter or capers over fettuccine! Ordered 6:20 was told 20 mins got in line at 6:40 finally got to pickup window at 7:50 where food was cold, made wrong, and soup was sold out and the guy was miserable! $70 in food down the drain! What the hell happened to this place!
Took an hour for the waitress to bring our food. when food was actually brought she brought a different soup than when she told us they had and what was ordered. every other table was eating half an hour before us, and they all got in after us. not good. need better waitresses and waiters.
I dont usually leave reviews but after today I feel its only right. House of pizza is usually awesome, great food, great staff, however today was the 1st time I ever didnt tip. I always tip anywhere I go but today was the 2nd time in a row that the service was horrible. I let it go last time thinking it was just a glitch but twice in a row isnt ok. Both times my daughter and I had our orders taken by one person, the food was delivered by someone else and then no one ever came back to our table. Last time we sat and waited for 45 minutes to get the check because the waitress was to busy running past us and refused to stop even when I would wave her over. Today that happened again, I asked another waitress to find whoever was covering our table, she said she would, she didnt. We waited another 15 minutes then the waitress finally came and just dropped the check on the table and walked away. We have been regular customers for 2 years, itll be a long time until were back again. Truly horrible service isnt worth it, not with all the other options around.
I love this place !! My favorite place to ordered food . Tonight I order my extra cheese pizza I was so very upset my pizza was brunt. I have never had a problem before. I didn’t want to call and complain because you have to wait to long in line to pick up your food and I didn’t want to have to wait again.
If you are looking for a great place not only for pizza but Italian food in this area, and one for good value, you will be hard pressed to fine an alternative, especially one that is as competitive for value. The food is flavorful and plentiful, but dont forget their more lighter eaters, offering smaller portion upon request. Staff is eager and friendly, and very much care about their work ethics and give 110% to their customers. Definitely a place I plan to go back to.
If I could give zero I would I have a family of 6 we got sat quickly which was great than we waited 20 minutes not a single server came to our table to take even a drink order and with four kids that wasnt pleasant. We had several servers and the hostess girls pass us and not even acknowledge us. Tables that came in ten minutes or so after us got their drinks and was servered. I finally got up and left and took my business else where because obviously they didnt want it. So very disappointed and angry. If I ever go back it wont be for a long time.
The food is very good, staff friendly and courteous. Never much of a wait. I only wish they had a better wine selection , especially the Chardonay. Cupcake chardonay , Yellow Tail, Barefoot, Chateau St Michelle are some good ones. Tried the Greek wine today. Not my choice, didnt care for it.
My wife and I go here from time to time. While the food and price are good we have had a couple of recent issues. My wife likes her pizza with the condiments under the cheese not on top so they dont dry out when cooked. We sent the pizza back to the kitchen twice. By then I had already eaten my supper, Chicken Parmigiana which was very good. I want to add that this was not due to waitress error but kitchen staff. While we still go there occasionally, we dont go as often.
Food is excellent as always. The portions are very large, I end up taking half home. Prices are extremely reasonable; considering the size of the portions it really is inexpensive. Its like getting two meals for the price of one. I highly recommend House of Pizza, Gloversville!!
Got there at 5pm with one guest. Placed our order on mozz sticks, chicken bacon sandwich, and a small pizza. Mozz sticks came out. Sandwich came out. No pizza. Guest ate his food. Still no pizza. Order was never done even though it was all on the same order. Took an hour. They offered me a free dessert. Which I gave to my guest as I was still waiting on my pizza order. Finally arrived. Told them to box it since we were ready to leave. Didnt even comp it.
Ordered a Gyro today, the worst! First of all, should have known it would be terrible when they couldn’t pronounce the name. Secondly, ordered two other meals, all three were supposed to come with French fries. Got home, guess what ? No French fries!! Called and tried to get them to credit my credit card for the order...wouldn’t do it. The 12 year old who answered the phone wanted to do nothing but argue a moot point...” The customer is always right”! I’ve spent a fair share of money with this establishment over the past 40 years and I can promise ...never again! Oh and one more thing, this wasn’t the first time. See attached photo
We prefer thin pizza. This place specializes in thicker pizza. We asked if they could bake it thin for us, they said Sure! and it was so good we even ate the crust (which I hardly ever do). Great food presented by some of the friendliest people youll ever brush up against.
Dont let the name fool you. The food on the inside sure will if youve never been here. They have a RibEye smothered in onions and mushrooms, cooked to Perfection to your order. Then of course their Italian menu is absolutely delicious. The interior is very clean, the staff is very accommodating friendly.
FOR the fact that it was Mothers Day and the restaurant was jam packed with people the service was excellent theyre waitresses and waiters are very polite and try to please you no matter what, the food service was excellent ! We didnt wait 2 hours for food like we did this morning at another restaurant! This is an awesome place to eat we have eaten there on many occasions.
Honestly, one star for me. New to the area and tried this place twice. First time was sit down. Salad included lettuce, and not much else. When the pasta dishes came out I commented that they were huge. The waitress says yup, its good here. Sorry, but overly large portions does not equal good, and it really wasnt. Tonight we tried the pizza. Hour wait on 30 minutes estimate for take out. Worse, we are now both in pain. Salted canned olives? I can buy fresh veggies in the store behind them, cant they? And just heavy food. Painfully heavy. Second star, they were absolutely packed. I dont know, but either the locals have seared off their tastebuds or really dont know what food should taste like. It may be the latter as it is really hard to find tolerable food around here. Asian Delight is about the best weve found. Still not like what we are used to, but somewhat better. Good luck out there.
My family and I had dinner at the house of pizza last week, and I was very disappointed. My son and I took out utensils out of the napkins and the napkins were used. Yuck!!! I had notified my waitress and she said nothing. And everything time we needed something, I had to flag her down. We won’t be going back there any time soon!!
Really good pizza. The crust is medium thickness, but perfectly baked. Not burnt as one so often encountersIt used to have wifi, which for some of us dining alone is really important, but it no longer does. Honestly, it is not that difficult to have a secure wifi separate from your business wifi, you just have to consult someone with proper expertise. I no longer go here because of this. The pizza is good, only thing I have ever had here, but their specialty pizzas (pizzas with preselected ingredients like California pizza) are ok but their are few of them and lack imagination. They could easily extend the offerings to things like Meat lovers pizza and a dozens more.Perhaps the lack of effort here is due to the owners being of Greek origin. I love Greek food. Why not include the many great foods?
They have good food.....but the cook completely refuses to make pizza the way you ask for it.....a simple thing like putting the cheese on top of the other ingredients is out of the question. Ive been there many times.....including tonight and came up with the same issue......will not be going back for a very long time.......and not planning on ever ordering pizza from there again.....if Im to eat the pizza....what is so wrong about asking for cheese on top......
Ok we usually go here for a quick bite and it is usually good. Tonight was a disappointment. We placed our order, got our beverages. Ok, our soup came, Not less than 5 minutes later our entrees came as we were not even 1/2 way through our soup! Ok so our waitress needed to be more aware. My Reuben was not made with any Russian dressing that I could find and the cheese wasn’t Swiss !! I opted for rice pilaf, big mistake. So very salty it burned my tongue. My companion ordered manicotti and meatball half portion. The sauce was not their usual, what there was of it, and the cheese over the manicotti so thick , a sharp knife had to be used to cut through it. Totally totally disappointing meal. Don’t know what happened, if regular cook not working or what. Very undesirable meal
Very rude and condescending!!! After driving over 10 hours (well over 400 miles) to our daughter and son-in-laws new place in Gloversville NY, I called and asked if there were any pizza specials.Specials?!? He replied, NEVER!!! Then started in berating me for asking...NEVER will I ever go there!!!
Not Happy at all , always received such good food but today asked for a certain sandwich received it was completely cold asked to have it heated still cold also asked for extra cheese got charged for all the cheese well the cheese steak was sopose to come with ch so why would they charge me for all the ch on it they were busy I understand but you pay for what you ask for NOT HAPPY
If you want to be sick for days go here. Went here and got horribly sick. Honestly. Do not go here. You will be sick. They must be serving old food because I am very very sick from this place. After 1 hour from eating there it started and lasted hours and hours. I have never felt this sick before
Out of all the pizza restaurants that I have tried in the Fulton county area I definitely like this one their lasagna the subs and the seafood is very good give it a try if youre in the area the only thing that stops me from giving them a five star is they do not deliver what the staff is friendly and a drive-thru is pretty fast service
Not what it used to be. I call tonight and the kid on the phone can barely speak clearly, asked what I wanted, ignored what I said and read back something different, when I corrected him he said alright bye. Never asked for a name or anything. Id rather drive down to Fritzs

2022-03-29First time ever trying this place, it did not disappoint! The Sauce is magnificent, the service was great, we were greeting right at the door, super friendly place. They also have a drive thru if you just looking to pick up and bring it home, super convenient.

2022-03-17This Italian (and a little Greek) restaurant has been a Friday night option when we find ourselves shopping after a long work week. Service is prompt and meals come quickly. Food is above average, but definitely not gourmet. Prices are reasonable. We tend to eat dinners, not sandwiches or pizza (they look decent, but we cant comment on taste). Weve only had one poor experience. The waitress offered salad or soup with our dinner, but turns out they werent included in the meal price. Oops, tack another $10 on the bill. My seafood platter included fried clams with such large feet that I couldnt chew some. I almost never complain, so thats on me. They seem like people who would try to make it right. This wont stop us from going back, but it will make us more careful about what we order. As a good friend once told me, Just because its on the menu doesnt mean it will be good. Dont order steak in a place that specializes in fried chicken.

2022-05-12This is the third time weve eaten here the last couple of years and the third time I obviously didnt pick a good item off the menu. This time got a simple burger, cooked well done with a side of mayo. Burger was greasy as heck, pink in the middle and they give mayonnaise packets. I couldve gotten better taste from Burger King.

2022-05-11Went there with the family and was told they did away with the kids menus recently. My kids didnt want anything fancy. Everything that we ordered was good but it was super overpriced. One great thing was there was PLENTY of leftovers it just wasnt the right place for our family.

2021-03-27Absolutely horrible! I found weird greenish blue specs in my fettuccine Alfredo. I brought it up to the waiter who brought it to the manager who said its just herbs. Um no there is no herb that color. Looks like tiny specs of plastic. Manager wouldnt come talk to me. The cashier says the manager is the owner and theres nobody I could talk to
