Great park! Natural play scape is a lot of fun for kids and super creative. There is a pavilion area for events. They also have added a covered stage with lights and electric outlets. There are some nice level trails with excellent bird watching due to the habitat established. Nice river views from the bridge.
Wonderful park and great for family walks and photography. Theres so many places within the park for photos and Ive been asked numerous times to take photos here. The only downside of the park (at no fault of the park itself) is the lack of police presence/surveillance here. Im at the park almost daily and on numerous occasions witness drug use or verbal alterations in the parking lot and on the trails. All in all, a great place!
Went here because I was in the area and saw the Canal lock on the map. Watched a giant barge go through then decided to check out the park. At first it seems like a generic park but its really weird. Bird sculptures, signs attached to bushes, modern art, an old bridge, remains of old bridges, and the dam at the top. Dont miss the play area near the back parking lot, I wont spoil it.
Bathroom facilities, plenty of parking. Good fishing at the locks or anywhere you can get to the water. Big pike, big bass, Big catfish. Do not eat fish. Catch and release only. But these are very large fish. Last year my buddy got a ten plus pound bass from the over flow pond as you come into the park. Ive personally caught cats upto 35 pounds. And please over 4 feet. Largest snapping turtle Ive ever seen last year. About 4ft long. No less than 170 pounds would be my guess. 65 pound carp if you can catch them . My favorite fishing place in my area. Saratoga tackle can take care of all your fishing needs. They are now across from the high school and subway restaurant. Enjoy.🐬🐬

2022-06-13Hidden gem along the Hudson just outside of Schuylerville. Plenty of trails and views across the river, the canal and the original canal and towpath. A lovely 1.5 mile walk along the towpath gets you to the center of town. Enjoy the peace, watch the boats move through the lock, or enjoy fishing with the family.

2021-04-12Nice park with family and pet friendly trails around the perimeter of this small island on the Hudson river. Approximately 2 mile perimeter and several points of environmental and historical interest along the trail. A small young children play area and picnic tables near the car park.

2020-04-29I have to give the town of Schuylerville to make the lock into a nice park for the towns people, you can hike, fish, picnic, playgrounds, take a boat rids plus visit a historical place. all this in a nice area. i thought we would do a quick hike and be on our way but we spent at least 3 hour enjoying the morning.

2018-07-16This place is great! Worth stopping if youre in the area, and enough to see to make a trip of it all on its own. Ive been a few times and still havent seen everything here. The play area and gardens near the back parking lot are great. Loved that somebody set up a kindness rocks project at the entrance there. Just an all-around cool place to explore on a nice day.

2019-04-29Very nice place. Clean and a few different trails to walk. You can bring your animals and they even have places for puppy poo placed around for clean up which is great! It also has a covered area with tables so you can bring food and have a picnic. Great area to travel.

2020-10-16Nice place for some privacy. Not that many people know about this area. Not a huge place but the landscape is varied enough for exploration with kids and pets. Relaxing.
