Walls style is as unassuming as the surroundings, pared to the essentials to render a scene of simple life that was more like preceding centuries than it is like our life today. But the ordered angularity of the houses make them stand out from the otherwise free-flowing and disordered nature around them

2022-01-23It’s the great place to do hiking! Take a Bull Hill Full Loop Trail (do it counterclockwise) and you will be granted with beautiful views of the Hudson Valley and picturesque ruins of the Stern-Cornish Estate

2021-09-24Take friends on this hike but don’t tell them about the Northgate ruins (the Cornish estate). It’s a hauntingly beautiful surprise after a challenging hike! A quick google search will turn up photos of what it used to look like and the tragic story behind the couple who lived there.

2020-10-13This park is awesome. Breakneck ridge is wonderful to climb, but is sometimes too popular. The Cornish Estate Trail and the Bull Hill trails are excellent. The ruins of the Cornish estate are fascinating.

2022-03-26I had the good fortune of growing up in the area. The Cornish Estate fascinated me growing up, as did the old mines, quarries, and other homesteads. While in the area, don’t miss Bannerman’s Island, Mt. Beacon, and DIA.

2020-10-12Parking is challenging as it’s a popular spot but the trails here have a lot to offer. Lots of elevation gain in the bull hill short loop trail, and the stunning vistas and views of the Hudson River and West Point are remarkable, especially in the fall.

2021-10-15Many great hiking trails here. The most popular is the BR trail (Breakneck Ridge), which is very steep for the first mile of the trail. Trail signs have been significantly improved since 2020. A new bypass trail NH (Nimham) was also added for those who want to head back to Route 9D after the steepest part of the white BR trail.

2017-09-23The breakneck ridge hike is hard for the first 1.3 mile. Straight mountain climber style. Not recommended for the unprepared or weak. It is a tough climb to be honest.First 1.3 mile is rock climbing.Next 1.5 mile will descend but depending on which way you take. Otherwise it will be just steep muddy or rocky roads.
