All staffs were very rude. They didn’t serve us water. So we had to ask them by ourselves to get water. And they never cared our table even they saw our table that there were some finished plates on. We had to ask every single things to get right service. And seemed like they cheated us behind our back. when we look behind of us, three staffs were watching us at the same time. What a rudes!
We went on a Saturday and it was great! The service and food were very good. My family and I enjoyed the food a lot. I got the eggs with prosciutto, fig, arugula, green apple and home fries and it was so delicious and satisfying! The portion was also fairly generous. We also shared a tall stack of the gluten free pancakes which I was impressed with - they were very fluffy and similar to non gf pancakes! I had a buttered spiced cider rum which was very tasty. We were very pleasantly surprised by Hudson Hil’s Café, worth a visit if in the area!
Great place to enjoy breakfast or lunch with family. Good service and excellent quality food. I wish the premises had a little bit more space, and so it can feel a bit crowded. If space is not an issue for you, then you will feel at comfort and in good company! Will continue to come back here with the family!
I’m going against the grain on this one. Maybe it’s just what we ordered, but there was no question that the service was slow and gave of an irritated vibe. The salads we ordered were just simple greens and raw vegetables. Between the two of us it is need up being $50 because we ordered simple salads with salmon added. I didn’t find value or delight in anything we ordered.
I got the omlettes option for breakfast which comes with a 3 egg omlette with 3 fillings of your choice, country potatoes and toast. The omlette was really good and generious in terms of fillings. Definitely recommend this spot for a nice lazy brunch.Update: came here again and got Fish tacos and Salmon burger. Both were alright.
We came in to this place without any expectations and we got reworded with a very good meal.Lets get it out of the way first. This place is not like the places in the city which you can time by the seconds hand on your watch. The waitress is going to move slower than you may want. But the at is the charm of the place. They want you to sit back, take your time, chat with your friends and or family while your food is lovingly prepared and brought to you.My family ordered the following:1) Eggs with Figs and procieuto for my wife.2) Midium rare steak with egg for me.3) Kids burger on an English muffin. My family was very happy with the meal. My child ate the entire burger and asked for slice of my steak to top off. My wifes food was very yummy as well. She promised to come back next time we pass through this area. For the price and the experience, I give this place an A grade. Would have give an A+ of the watres was able to get to our table a few minutes faster. But I am somewhat not picking.Recommend to bring g family and kids. They have a kids menu. Not weelchare accessible.Street parking only.Bathrooms are clean.
A delightful gem in the quaint Cold Spring neighborhood.Coming from NYC and being a vegetarian, I’m always on the lookout for farm-fresh, quality eateries when I venture outside my stomping ground. I was very happy with the foods, flavors, and service at Hudson Hil’s.My boyfriend and I ordered omelets and split lemon ricotta pancakes. No one thing stood out to warrant a 5-star review, but it was perfect enough for us and our needs the day we visited. Would recommend.
After a whole morning of hiking, we ended up coming here for a late lunch and since there was just 2 of us our waiting time wasnt more than couple of minutes. The staff are very friendly and the food was pretty good and all our dietary restrictions were taken care of wonderfully. The portions are neither too big or too little. We had the veggie quinoa sandwich burger and a side salad along with orange and apple juice.
There are many reasons to love this place . The food was excellent, both of our eggs benedict were perfectly cooked, the creole special was a nice balance of flavor and spice but their smoked salmon was just the most delicious! The restaurant is cute, cozy, if you go when its not too cold and can dine outside its so worth the wait because great food and an amazing view makes for the best experience. Also our service was lovely.
A local gem! Ive been here twice and the fact that they have frequently varying brunch specials is amazing. This time around I had Cowboy Omelette with jalepeno cheddar biscuits. Holy cow! Delicious! In the beautifully quaint Cold Springs. Will stop by everytime Im in the area for sure.
Went on the Seastreak to Cold Springs NY for a nice day. Stopped into the Hudson Hils Cafe for the first time and had a fabulous lunch! It was busy but everyone was seated promptly and the food came out very quickly! The food was so delicious and yummy!! Highly recommended!!
This is one of my favorite spots in the Hudson Valley. The menu is inventive and unique, the food is always fresh and super tasty, and the staff is friendly and attentive. My *only* negative is that during the summer, the wait for a table can be an hour (or more)... but its totally worth it. :-)If youre looking to add a regular to your roster of fave places, go to Hudson Hils NOW.Wait... forget I said that... you really want to go somewhere else...
This is the best breakfast in the Hudson valley IMHO. Been eating here for years, every time Im up that way I make a point to stop in. Food is all local, fresh, and exceptionally flavorful. The awesome daily quiche is enough to make me come back. Its really hard to go wrong here.
This place is handling covid really well. We came here for brunch on a Sunday and it was really busy. But I think that’s the state of affairs every Sunday. So we put our name down for about an hour after we got there and went for a Riverwalk which I highly recommend and then came back. The space that they have right now for Covid has maybe four tables in the dining room two tables in the back and three tables out front. That might change of course given that winter is on its way.We were seated almost immediately and the stuff is really good with getting a order in and getting the food to the table very quickly. I tried the Cajun breakfast - they use pork andouille sausage, that’s my ideal type of sausage. The food was well prepared and delicious.I also tried the hot toddy which was excellently made, I highly recommend it. My friend had the burger which she said was outstanding and the curly fries where crispy and really Well seasoned. I highly recommend them. unfortunately I didn’t like the pies very much I thought they were just sort of average. We tried the blueberry pie and the pecan pieService was very quick very efficient however I do think that they tried to rush us a little bit because they needed the table back. Completely understandable but giving us a heads up or letting us know what our window of time was would’ve been helpful. Still I would come back here if I’m ever in the area.
A lovely restaurant in a super cute town. Friendly, helpful staff, and a menu to die for. Locally sourced ingredients are always a plus, but they dont guarantee an amazing meal. HHC provides both. We split the Mac and cheese and the Babka French toast. The best meal Ive had in a long time. The Mac and cheese is so rich, savory, and just a little bit sweet, with lovely sneak attacks of chorizo and pepperoncini. The homemade french toast was equally amazing. What seals the deal on this sweet bounty is the espresso cream cheese. Creamy and rich without being overwhelming, a perfect balance to the chocolate and cinnamon. Ill be making the trip from the city back to Cold Spring just to visit this place again. Cannot recommend enough.
We got a late lunch here after going to the storm king art center. I had the eggs Creole, which was fantastic. Everyone else wanted tacos and I heard those were pretty good. The service was also very good. The one disappointment was the baked goods we took with us to go after our meal. We got 3 kinds, none of which were worth the calories: a vaguely lemony lemon cookie with a strange texture, oddly poofy chocolate chip cookies that had 2 chocolate chips each, and brownies with almost no chocolate flavor. Go here for the main course but definitely look elsewhere for dessert
Every dish and every ingredient is so fresh. Ive only been here for breakfast/brunch so I cant really comment on their lunch menu, but what Ive had so far has been outstanding. Their specials are unique too. I remember this one dish that had jalapeno cornbread, still dreaming about it. Makes you wish the week went faster so you could be here for weekend brunch.
This place is always busy and the last two times we were in Cold Spring the wait was too long, but today we planned ahead and made a reservation. Menu has a lot of variety of breakfast and lunch options. We ate outside under the heater which was a good option but inside looks inviting and comfortable too. Portions are generous and food is quality.
First time eating breakfast here. I cannot comment on breakfast dishes with eggs, but my pancakes were hard and tasted like cardboard. More disappointing was the syrup - Not sure what is was - it looked like molasses and had no taste. In a country area you would expect they would strictly serve pure maple syrup. Service was sloppy.
I stumbled on this restaurant while passing through Cold Spring. Not bad, good coffee, but Ive had better Eggs Benedict. I know that poached eggs are usually made ahead of time and held but these came out just cooler than room temperature. I think it was actually the sauce that made them that warm. Home fries were pretty good though. Busy place but the service was still pretty quick despite a full dining room. Overall, Id give it another try before dismissing it, if for no other reason than because there seemed to be a number of regulars/locals.
Food is very good. Staff is very unwelcoming. Visited this weekend for my mothers 84th bday. Had a reservation, that was made well in advance, for 1:00. My sister and her daughter drove 2 hrs from NJ. Never told that the reservation was for 1 hr.! I know these are unusual times and businesses need a quicker turnover due to limited seating, but at least inform the customer at the time of making the reservation. We would have decided on another venue. After about 1.5 hrs, a manager(?) came over to our table to inform us that reservations are usually for 1 hr and that they needed the table. No finesse, no apology, no can I get you anything else. The whole experience was sort of demeaning and embarrassing, and Im so sorry that my mother had to experience that sort of treatment.
After a great morning of hiking in Cold Springs we needed some nourishment to refuel. Thankfully, the restaurant was able to accommodate all 8 of us to sit outside. The service was super nice and the waitress was super patient as a large group can be but we were hungry and ready to order. It was a pleasant day so we sat outside in the patio as we also had a dog. The food came out pretty quickly and everyone was happy with their choice of food. Food with a smile is what I remembered.
This is my favorite place in town for a homey breakfast or lunch. It has a creative brunch style menu. Delicious interesting egg dishes, french toast, sandwiches and salads! The coffee is the best and you can buy it two stores down at the Country Goose if you like it. They have a variety of prosecco based drinks as well as Bloody Marys, tequila cocktails and wine but there is not a bar area. My favorite treats are the home made scones. They also sell muffins and pies. I think they are only open for breakfast and lunch. It has a very casual county atmosphere sometimes there can be a wait for seating, but they get you in and out without feeling rushed. Excellent friendly service! Credit cards are accepted.
Great food and great service, in a charming spot. The lemon ricotta pancakes were a let down (a bit rubbery, and we couldnt taste or feel the presence of the ricotta...or the lemon, actually...seemed like plain old pancakes), and the potatoes could be much crispier, but otherwise all the food Ive had there is delicious. Will definitely be back again and will keep bringing friends there.
Prices are reasonable. Food is well prepared. Be warned that youll get the sticky corn syrup for your pancakes, if you dont buy the $3 little bottle of maple syrup. Service is not that great. You could come here everyday and have the same waitress--she definitely wont remember you. There are long lines at times. I had a gift certificate, which I definitely appreciated, but I couldnt wait for it to be used up.
If you love great breakfast food, GO HERE! I am a huge fan of biscuits with sausage gravy and this place blew all others completely out of the water! Also had the chocolate banks French toast - equally amazing! Hils was busy and buzzing through our whole visit, but it wasnt a terrible wait time, was well worth the wait, the staff was amazing and the food was the absolute BEST!
A very cute restaurant! Ranch was amazing, and they had a very wide variety of options to choose from. If you’re GF or Vegan, this place has options for you. The products are fresh and the service is quick, but the quickness does not take away from the quality. Definitely recommend to give this place a try! Will definitely come again.
Food was ok , but the potato chips were burnt also its a lil pricey for what you get.On the up side my chocolate tart which was flourless was good.P.S staff should always wear gloves when cutting the deserts and serving it , their hands shouldnt be touching the food.🙄
Holy moly where to start? Great brunch, friendly staff. Dont miss out on their amazing muffins and scones that they cut in half and toast. Get there early on Sundays, the line can get intense. I recommend the chicken pesto sandwich, its the bomb. The coffee is outstanding too!
Homey, good service, delicious food. Many choices, good prices, great location. Great biscuits. One point off for many bees/wasps at entranceway. While I understand many people dont want to kill certain wildlife, those of us allergic to bee stings would appreciate the owners having a professional come in to at least find a way to repel them. Without the bees, Id give this eatery 5 stars.
What a colossal disappointment this place was. First off, let me give praise where it’s due- the coffee was pretty good. We also got the distinct impression that if you’re a local you get an entirely different level of service than we experienced. What we got was exactly the kind of hospitality you’d expect from a Wall Street analyst.....The pancakes were good, but nothing special, my hash was rather unremarkable and one of my 2 “over easy” eggs had a broken yolk that had been cooked through, but they seemed to think it was ok to serve it anyway. My wife ordered the dish that made us so excited to eat here in the first place- the “Eggs Creole” which had totally flavorless potatoes and was overall disappointing. It’s not that there weren’t bright spots. The hollandaise was well done, the sausage in my wife’s dish was good and like I said they made a decent cappuccino. It was all just so much more off-putting as we felt like uninvited guests to a fancy brunch; tolerated though clearly unwelcome.
A gem. Delicious: (1) fish tacos - tasty fish, well seasoned/fried and sauce proportions were great, rice/beans were ok; (2) raw power salad - great mix of veg seasoned perfectly, no wilted or browned leaves means attention to quality; (3) burger - my friends ate this and loved it, juicy. Service was friendly and expedient. Great option as you pass through Cold Spring, not that many options like this on Main St.
Greeted by lovely servers, food was served hot and fast (but not to fast that you feel like they are trying to get rid of you)They have a varied menu that offer a great lunch selection as well as alcoholic beverages.... I always recommend getting a glass of Prosecco!A perfect spot for lunch.... Stop here and see for yourself
This cafe is popular lunch time spot, but we came here late - around 2.30 PM on Sunday and were able to easily get a spot. We ordered from breakfast menu which is conveniently available all day and had our food within minutes. Food was really good and service was above and beyond. Highly recommended!
This is such a great hidden gem - staff is cordial, attentive, and know their menu very well. Food is delicious and always fresh. Price tends to be a bit high but never disappointed to spend an extra dime here. Locations is great having many thrift stores in the surrounding area - and after a great meal make sure you walk down to the train station and ejoy the beautiful Hudson view!
Weve eaten here a few times now, food is always fresh and unique (think grilled cheese with fig, apples, bacon, and Gouda). My mother in law has severe celiac, and the waitress and chef worked with her one-on-one to find something she could enjoy, and she raved about the taste! Highly recommend
My wife and I love to come here for breakfast every month or so - we trek about 40+ minutes from White Plains - its a great excursion on the weekend or if you have a free weekday to make you feel like youre on vacation even if youre (relatively) local. Their signature breakfast dish is a rotating quiche but everything on the menu is great. After breakfast there are tons of shops to peruse along the main street, and popular hiking spots nearby - google: breakneck ridge
Went there for brunch. AmazingAs was the waitstaff (attentive too) even though they were packed with a waitlist. I had the eggs over pancetta bacon. Delicious. My friend had the eggs benedict and a pancake. She ate it all :) I’ll definitley be back. There are so many delicious things on the menu.
Awful burgers. Fries taste like was fried in 1000 years oil. Kid’s burger was with plenty of hot peppers. Was asked to redo without peppers and salt. Redone with same quantity of peppers )). Not a great place to eat. Would never be back again. However service is fine
I moved to Cold Spring over a year ago and have brunch here almost every Sunday. The lemon-blueberry-ricotta pancakes (a sometime special, and special treat) are simply divine, and their H H grilled cheese is unique and unlike any youve ever had...and absolutely fantastic! Country potatoes and speciality quiches are always a hit as well. The staff are cheerful, professional, and super friendly. My favorite place!
The food was great. I am giving three stars for the poor service. During our visit, we were seated outside (which didnt really feel like an actual area for dining) and felt like the forgotten customers. Which is not a good feeling when you paying for the service. If we are ever back in town, i would stay away from this place.
I have to say such a beautiful place bed and breakfast. Soon as you walk in the door you think wow I want to be here. Then you end up standing at the front desk while workers are walking by you, without saying a word. You think okay theyre busy trying to get their stuff done. Then you have the hostess/ manager Asian lady that turns her back on you while shes looking in her book. No one greeted us at the door. There was no please wait Ill be with you in a minute how many in your party. I watched three couples leave and then I decided my turn a party of 4 we walked out. the couple behind me ended up walking out. If I was the owner of this Cafe I would definitely look into hiring people that properly greet customers/ guest.
Put your name in and know that the wait will be worth it! With a menu as eclectic as its patrons, youll make it a point to hot this spot every time youre in town. Tip: if youre looking to have an adult beverage, youll want to make that known to the host(ess). Half of the establishment is dry and the other half serves alcohol. Its a weird zoning issue thing but as with everything, knowing is half the battle!
OMG! This place is awesome. We found from yelp as it had very nice reviews and decided to give a shot. We ordered omlettes and pancakes with coffee. It was the best I have ever had in NY. The pancakes with berries was very tasty. I totally recommend this place. Eventhough you mau need to wait some to get a table, totally worth it.

2022-03-19This was a lovely little place to go. The service was a little slow, because they are (according to a sign on their door) a little understaffed at the moment. However, the food that arrived was delicious and the staff were very friendly. I’d recommend this place, and in particular the BLT sandwich. The prices here are also very reasonable.

2022-01-16I went on a cold day, where the wait was at least 1-2hours long.. The person at the front was amazingly rude, as many people who tried getting a reservation were trying to figure out what to do and where to stand in line.. it seemed like they were short staffed at the time. However, our hostess was kind and friendlier, and the food was decent. Looks like this is the best brunch option around there.. Please do try the butter spice apple cider rum - it was warm and yummy.

2022-01-07The food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. I would quite honestly drive the hour Cold Spring is away from my home just to eat here again. I ordered the Fig and Apple Grilled Cheese, and my friend ordered the Chicken Pesto Sandwich, and we split them. The sandwiches were just divine, and the bread they were made on really made them taste even better. If I could give this place a 6 out of 5, I would. Service was good as well. This is hands down the best choice for places to eat in Cold Spring!

2022-02-08Love this place. This is a must go to for brunch. It has amazing food and it is locally sourced. Dont we all love farm to table restaurants? I know I sure do.

2021-07-17Good food and decent service. We went there on a Saturday and the weather was so nice so we had to wait for 10 mins to be seated. They were understaffed so were pretty efficient (read rather professional or cold, but did the best they could). But the food was of a good quality and the portion was quite generous. We had salmon BLT and chicken sandwich. Drinks were ok and price overall was almost like in the city, so still a bit expensive.

2022-06-19We were visiting the area and we decided to have lunch here with my family. We were added to the wait list which the host told us it would 15 min. Well, while waiting we saw a ton of people entering and those 15 min were 20, and then 30 and then 40min. The host wasnt friendly and finally got a table after pressure her , our disappointment was the food. There is nothing absolutely good about this place. They are just dry sandwiches and salads. The menu seemed quite interesting when you read the menu but its just an average place for American food. I absolutely dont recommend this place for families, they just dont have empathy. I would never say to a family that is a 15 min of wait list when you have small starving children. Avoid.

2022-06-26It took a girl from Ohio to tell me about this place. We came for breakfast and i cant get that damn avocado toast off my mind. We all enjoyed our dishes. My friends have been coming here for years, so I guess now I have to bring my family here. Beautiful and comfy place in a great quiet town. Clean bathrooms and friendly people. I would come back.

2021-10-18American restaurant in the heart of Cold Spring that serves fare from locally raised ingredients. They serve all day breakfast, lunch menu and a bakery. Definitely try the biscuit and gravy. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining.

2021-12-24The food was okay, but the staffs were so rude. They didn’t answer us back several times. Also we’re still working on the dessert, but she wanted us to check the bill quick.

2021-10-24Country diner fare with fast and friendly service. The staff here is highly competent, caring, hard working and efficient. To me, that makes up for the food being very average.
