Hyatt Place New York Chelsea in New York
My favorite part: Upper floors have amazing views of the Empire State Building and the city! The location is great. Hotel is well maintained and friendly staff. Breakfast was also nice.Small cons: if you dont book in advance, prices are quite high. With 45 floors and only 4 medium sized elevators, getting to/from your room can take some time. During breakfast rush hours the elevator stops in many different floors despite having no more room to let more people in.Rooms are very very small and with not enough appropriate storage space like shelves and drawers to place your clothing.
I saw the review about bed bugs on the 2nd day of my stay and was pretty freaked out until I noticed the person who posted it had also posted a 1 star review a month ago complaining about a smoking fee, and a quick google search shows the image posted was taken from an entomology website. The hotel is brand new and the mattresses were pristine. Our stay was great from early check-in to check-out. Staff was friendly, room was quiet and clean, and as others have mentioned, the view was breathtaking. And Im not sure why there are so many complaints about the room size -- the room descriptions on the website clearly state they are 180 - 200 sq feet, which is definitely small, but they are priced accordingly, considering all the other amenities and the very convenient location.
When staying at hotels I look for a few things to take into consideration.1. How quick the check-in process is.2. How attentive are the front desk people upon your arrival.3. Condition of the room.4. Quality of sleep. It’s safe to say that I was very pleased after my stay at Hyatt Place Chelsea because they met all my requests and I will look forward to staying with them again in the near future.
We stayed there with my daughter and husband on a busy December weekend. The room was small albeit thats what you expect when youre in New York but it was clean and comfortable and it looked relatively new. The windows had good soundproofing from the street. We didnt ask for a room with a view but surprisingly, we got a good view of the Empire State Building. That was one of the perks we enjoyed during the stay. Breakfast was good too, they have different continental buffet choices ranging from different breads, yogurts, cereals, fruits and juices. One of the best reasons why we also chose this hotel was because of its location! The subway is just around the block and the Times Square is about 20 minutes walk. If you love to explore Manhattan, you can start from the hotel and just walk your way, passing thru different iconic buildings and shopping center (including the Harry Potter store, Flatiron, etc). This hotel is great for any kind of trip, from business to pleasure! And oh the staff are also very friendly and accommodating!
I’m from Florida and was visiting for NYE. Hotel is in great location to see a lot of different parts of the city. Was not too far from Times Square, not to far from financial district, Rockefeller center etc. There’s a 24 hour diner and good pizza place right around corner too. Room was clean and we came back every day to a cleaned room, a made bed, and fresh towels. Michael at the front desk made our experience even better by giving us city view upgrade for the delay in check in. (We checked in Thursday night Dec 30)We will definitely stay here again !
Very conveniently located hotel in the heart of Manhattan! Staff was super friendly and available at any time, even letting me store my luggage for a limited time after check-out. Breakfast was good too, even though more food variety would be great. The hotel opened a few weeks ago and the modern rooms feel really clean and new. Highly recommended!
What saves this hotel are the amazing views and staff. The room is a closet! I WAS MORTIFIED.It is not cleaned properly. The beds are made nicely, but I found dust, TONS of other people’s hair on beside the bed, side of toilet in shower stall and door.No microwaves in the room !I have been a Hyatt member for over 10 years and I felt comfortable that I didn’t need to read reviews or search more because of the brand name but this hotel does not live up to the brand name. The staff are very accommodating and the views are amazing. These are the only things I can say are good.
Bearing in mind that this is a budget hotel, our stay was fine. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable (if one is shorter than 511) and the staff friendly and helpful. However, the hallways are tight and cramped and the room is SMALL. The bathroom is even SMALLER. Last, the door between the bathroom and room was a barn-style door that afforded little privacy. However, this all was bearable given the reasonable room rate. but I would not stay here again unless only in for an overnightReviewed today via mobileThe rooms are clean, the beds comfortable (if one is shorter than 511).However, the hallways are tight and cramped and the room is SMALL. The bathroom is even SMALLER. There is not even room for two suitcases to stand. The beds are short, and my 64 companion was quite uncomfortable. The door between the bathroom and room was a barn-style door that afforded almost no privacy.I guess this all may be bearable given the reasonable room rate. I will stay here again, but only for an overnight stay by myself or with a (very) intimate partner.
Great experience! Excellent find rooms were clean staff were excellent recommendations galore where to eat and drink the bar the second floor. Breakfast is continental and yes it does get busy at .The hotel tells you when it gets busy so you are informed .Its central to all tourist areas and overall first rate hotel in my opinion . ..Great hotel great staff clean and tidy ticked all …
It was a great hotel experience and the view was to die for. But in the name of COVID, they did not have room service of any sort. I had to take an elevator down 30 plus floors to get a tooth brush in the morning. Its time maybe to revise some of these senseless restrictions in place and get services (that were paying a lot for) back up. Other than that, it was a good room. Cozy and clean!
I would definitely consider staying here again in the future. Stayed in a 2 double bed room with girlfriends on the 20th floor. Excellent view of the empire state building. I consider the breakfast as high quality with a good hot and good variety, including salad, fruit, yogurt, cereal, and scrambled eggs. The room and bathroom were small but clean, the only thing was the sliding bathroom door leaves a wide enough air gap -- so hearing each other use the bathroom was something we had to get used to. We kept the TV on, which helped! They also have a 24 hour gym (with bottle refill station) and clean public restrooms on concourse level. My only complaint is of their inefficient elevator system. There are 4 elevators total, but they are split among 2 separate elevator banks -- this means you had to click 2 separate elevator buttons to access these elevators to go up and down. This is highly inefficient, maybe they should dedicate one elevator bank to certain floors, and the other to the remaining floors.Further, one elevator was not operational during our stay, and after breakfast Sat morning we had to wait 5-10 minutes for an elevator to take us back to our room on the 20th floor. On that busy Saturday morning, we also ended up walking 20 flights of stairs down to start our day, after 5 minutes of waiting. This may likely be due to this being an older building, so if you stay here, I would try to get in/out, up/down away from rush hour times.
Great overall hotel. Everything in the room seemed brand new. Super clean. Amazing views of Manhattan if you get a room on a high floor, we were on the 32nd and had unobstructed views of downtown. Rooms are small, but laid out well and cozy. Can’t beat the location. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends.
Our flight got canceled and the airline made us to find a hotel for ourselves in the midnight. We called lots of hotel near the airport and in Manhattan and they were either full or they don‘t have a clean room us. Hyatt place was one of the few that take us, and the employees were super nice! The experience in this hotel were great! Rooms are clean and quiet.
I am business traveler that visits New York often. I tried out the Hyatt Place in Chelsea because it was close to my meetings. This will definitely be my go-to hotel when I come back to the city. Check-in was extremely easy and the staff at the front desk was really friendly. I think I was in my room within 3 minutes of stepping foot in the hotel. My room was ready early (at noon) and had clearly gone through extra sanitary measures. The complimentary breakfast was a pleasant surprise. Lastly I had an incredible view of midtown manhattan from the 29th floor.
First time staying at a Hyatt Place and was very impressed. Spaciously appointed rooms complete with a seating area and great views of the city. They offer daily complimentary breakfast and a grab n go market for any convenient items. Great location to explore the city.
The Hyatt Place is in Chelsea which is a fun neighborhood and it is in a great spot. Close to several subway stations and across from a Wholefoods. The rooms are well designed, spacious by Manhattan standards and the rooms on the upper floors enjoy stunning views of the city.Breakfast is included and ot is good. The selection is comparatively small but the offerings are good, even the fresh fruit.
Beautiful view from the 39th floor! Hotel room was clean and had a floor to ceiling window (had privacy shade and a blackout curtain you could roll down). Our room was small but I didn’t mind since I wasn’t planning to spend much time in the room since I came to explore the city. Hotel staff was very kind! Hotel opened in January from what I heard so everything was nice and clean.
The hotel was really nice, the views of the city at night were just immaculate. The beds were nice and comfy and the staff were very responsive and helped us a lot.The staff were really nice and gave us shovels to help us dig our car from the snowstorm that happened a few days ago.
Overall, I had a great experience; staff was incredibly helpful, and the amenities were great. The room was wonderful, clean, and perfect to celebrate a holiday stay. The view was spectacular, the breakfast buffet was fresh and delicious. I will definitely book a trip here again!
The city view was amazing! You see almost all Empire State Buiding!! The breakfast was wonderful - so tasty and healthy food (bacon, sausages, omelette, a lot of vegetables and fruits, yogurts, bagels). I didnt get breakfast like this more than 2 years. Thank you for revive the best American traditions. Hotel guys were very helpful and polite. Did their job fast and easy despite the bunch of guests. This place is very New York Style place. You hear French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Ukrainian speech from everywhere. Thank you a lot!
Hyatt Place Chelsea is the place to be while in NYC, and conveniently located to tons of attractions! The hotel and rooms were extremely clean and the staff was amazing, especially Elaine, Dymin, and Michael who were super accommodating throughout our stay. I had two rooms on the 40th floor and the views were breathtaking. The rooms were a perfect size, super comfortable, and one of the cleanness I have stayed at throughout my history of travel. Cant wait to go back!
If one of your reasons for coming to NYC is to see the sights, look no further! Rooms offered stunning views of the Freedom Tower and the Statue of Liberty. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was fully stocked and delicious. Can’t recommend this place enough!
Great stay! The room was pretty spacious, clean and the view was amazing. The breakfast could be better, it hasn’t got so much options. It’s just 5 minutes away from a subway station and the neighborhood is nice. One girl at the front desk was quite rude about wifi not working in her opinion because we have android and Xiaomi (come on guys, what is your problem with Chinese phones? It’s quite weird really). Overall would recommend.
Stayed for one night on opening weekend and had a great experience. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was compact and efficient. Black out blinds were great, but you can hear quite a bit of the hallway noise. They have some sectional doors and not that many rooms per floor to help with this though. Location is also great!
This hotel is definitely not family friendly. My husband was traveling with 3 of our young children to NYC and they stayed at this hotel. I called multiple times prior to my stay to confirm that the rooms were connecting (not just adjoining, or next to each other) because there was only one adult and 3 minors. For our situation, non-connecting rooms was not something we were comfortable with. I even called and talked to someone at the hotel twice on the day of their arrival to work out their connecting rooms. Well, my husband and kids show up and sure enough, the rooms do not connect and they dont even have this option at the property. Anyone who travels with younger kids and needs connecting rooms obviously understands how problematic this is. I spoke to the asst. front desk manager, Kenny, who was kind enough to offer a small discount (which wasnt applied correctly to our bill so I had to also take care of that) but this hotel needs to train their staff on what connecting vs. adjoining means. Really Hyatt?
Pay for the view. The room was nice, definitely NYC size (small) but who cares when the view was to die for. Staff was very friendly and helpful! The hotel seems to be brand new so some things were still being worked out/set up. Great location in-between uptown and downtown. Would stay here again.
It was a decent place with a city view and breakfast buffet. My issues: the room was very very tiny, the eggs were extremely runny at breakfast, and what made us the most upset was that the only thing we were told about a security deposit was that it would be $100. We were called down to the front desk on our second day there and told we had to give a $400 security deposit, $100 per day. So on top of the $600 we paid for the hotel we had to put a security deposit of $400. I’ve stayed at much nicer hotels and never had that big of a security deposit. And it wasn’t returned to us until a week after we got home. Completely ruined our vacation. That’s definitely something we should’ve had a heads up about.
I completed a wonderful stay here for my birthday. This special occasion was acknowledged with a handwritten card and celebratory drink voucher slipped under my door.I am a World of Hyatt loyalist and checking in at the member’s desk was fast and efficient. My King room was on the 26th floor (there are a total of 46 floors) and as others have flagged, half of the four elevators are currently out of service. These elevators are modern with touchscreen buttons and have some of the highest ceilings so you won’t feel claustrophobic riding them. There is a gym that I didnt use in the basement. I was intrigued why there were so many French speaking guests. My corner room had a direct view of the Empire State Building, One Vanderbilt, and Hudson Yards. Room size was cozy but on par with hotels in dense cities, like New York. Room décor was modern and I appreciated that there were plenty of convenient power sockets, including the USB outlets on both bed stands. The room and everything in it were in excellent condition. There was a refrigerator though no microwave; but one is available for common use on the second floor. Good toiletries (the front desk provided free toothpaste that I forgot to pack), steady hot water, great water pressure, excellent shower head. The windows can open and I appreciated how sound proof they were after hearing how loud it is with them open. I appreciated the quietness and responsiveness of the climate control. The free breakfast area on the ground floor is airy, light-filled and clean. There were varied food options that was constantly being replenished. The dining staff were constantly cleaning and very attentive. It looks like there is an outdoor patio off the bar area on the 2nd floor but closed during my stay because it was unfinished (hotel opened 2 months ago).During this Covid-era, cleanliness is very important. While the trend with hotels have been to cut back, they still had daily housekeeping at this hotel. All public areas were spotless.Every one of the staff I encountered were helpful, courteous, and friendly. Like the front desk staff Dymin, Natalie, Tenzin; who enhanced my stay with their hospitality.
Awesome, brand new hotel in Chelsea. Perfect location for going most places in Manhattan with subway access and NY Penn Station close by (great to get to and from EWR). The rooms are very ‘efficient’ in size but are clean, comfortable and get the job done. Great views from the higher floors too.
What a memorable birthday trip! From the warm welcome at check in to walking into my decorated room w/balloons and cake along with a birthday card from the staff and to top it off the NYC skyline! Couldn’t have asked for a more memorable trip and birthday! Already planning my next trip to the city. A big thank you to the HP TEAM!
Great location, delicious breakfast, very hospitable and courteous staff. Great view of the skyline right in the middle of Chelsea so walking to and from the many places to eat is easy. I will definitely stay here again. If you are considering staying here, do it, you will not regret it.
A quick check-in to my room is something that I look for after having a long trip. The staff was friendly and helpful with getting me situated quickly so I can get some rest. Another thing I enjoyed was how comfortable the bed and pillows were. Many hotels get this wrong but they nailed it here. The complimentary breakfast is a great amenity because you don’t have to worry about figuring out where to eat & especially if you’re traveling with kids! This is a great choice if the above matters to you
Positive: fantastic location and magnificent view.Negative: cleaningness, communication with staff, breakfast. When we arrived at the hotel the front desk did not greet us, did not explain anything (breakfast time, wifi, checkout time etc.), did not give us a smile. She just took the payment and gave us our room key. Never experienced anything like that even at hostels. The room wasnt super clean when we moved in. However, as the view was fantastic and we were happy to be in New York, we didn complain. We didnt get housekeeping first two days even though there was a sign on the door that rooms are being cleaned at least ones in 24 hours. When I asked the front desk how often they clean the rooms, they said that usually every third day, but we can get it every day if we want. They also asked when we would like housekeeper to come and we agreed that he/she will come around 10 oclock in the morning every day. As a result, some days housekeeping did not come at all, some days they were knocking on the door for a long time between 4 and 5 oclock in the afternoon while we were resting. Sometimes the housekeeper did not switch the towels that were laying on the floor in the bathroom. The room was never vacuumed and the shower and sink were never washed, and as we stayed there for 9 days, after a while it got nasty. We have been staying at different hotels in many locations and have never experienced such a bad housekeeping. Staff at the front desk did not seem to care much. Communication between front desk and housekeeping is bad.Breakfast was bad. We tried it and never came back. You get food, but is it good - no. Many good options in NYC and Chelsea offers great opportunities for breakfast and brunch. So eat elsewhere.
4 stars to the building and location, conveniently situated in Chelsea offering walking proximity to the Village and a reasonably short walk to mid town and it’s shenanigans.View from floor 22 where we we’re staying was absolutely stunning. Can’t get much better than that.However. The staff seemed annoyingly slow and on their first day ever at work (which might be).Breakfast (which was included in our rate) opens 6-9AM during weekdays, until 10AM on weekends) was very poor in variety and quantity. Unless you get there by 8AM the chances to find anything are very low.
During our stay at Hyatt Place Chelsea, we were immediately greeted with warm, helpful, and friendly staff. The new construction hotel was decorated with modern and welcoming decor which was spotless! It was apparent that all staff from top to bottom take pride in everything that goes into up-keeping a beautiful hotel of this caliber. I strongly recommend staying at this hotel for your next getaway!!!
We traveled as a family of 4 (3 adults and 1 child) and booked 2 adjoining rooms at the Hyatt Place Chelsea and could not have been more pleased with our choice. One room was a 2 double bed and the other a King bed with pullout sofa. While the rooms are not connected, they were across from one another in a corner and offered a third door that closed off both rooms from the hallway allowing for privacy between the rooms. The hotel is brand new. The rooms are modern and clean and offered all your basic amenities, including a mini fridge and coffee maker. The beds were comfortable and the rooms quiet in the evening. We were on the 35th floor and OMG! The VIEWS! The views from both rooms were spectacular. My six-year-old grandson, who had not been to NYC since he was much younger was in complete awe! Even the adults, who all grew up in the city, could not get enough! The hotel is in the heart of Chelsea. It is walking distance to an array of sites and so many eateries! You are right by the subway if you need it, and Ubers were available day and night. If the hotel itself isn’t enough to sell you, the superb customer service will seal the deal! Staff members were beyond friendly and helpful! Even with masks, you could see the smiles on their face. From check-in, where they got us into one of our rooms early, when we were just looking to hold our bags at the front desk – to late night, when I needed a sewing kit and the young man at the front desk went above and beyond to find one for me! The attention to guests was outstanding and stood out!I would not hesitate to book at the Hyatt Place Chelsea again in the future!
Excellent and pleasant stay, staff was so professional and super friendly. We are so happy with our room, we got a free upgrade and the room was so clean. We will definitely come back, free breakfast was awesome. Kudos to Robert at the front desk, tenzin at the front desk as well. :)
Had the pleasure to stay at the Hyatt Place Chelsea on a Saturday night as a stay cation in the city. Arrived around 3:30pm and was greeted upon entering the lobby by the two agents at the front desk. The lady who assisted with check in did not introduce herself nor was wearing a name tag so I wasn’t able to mention her. Check-in process was quick and she did mention the bar hours as well as the breakfast the next morning.Off to the room which was bigger than I anticipated, I beleive we had a city view room. The room also included a mini fridge which is always helpful for drinks or snacks. Great city views, we faced north so got to see the Empire State building as well as One Vanderbilt way where the Summit attraction is. Fun to watch the lights change in the exhibit from the bed of the room. Surprised to see the window opens…like for real opens so you can get fresh air! So nice! Very rare to see that, especially while on the 29th floor! One item to note is they had very small shampoo/conditioner for use so if you plan on staying multiple nights or have really thick hair, best to bring your own hair products. The room has Chromecast capabilities however we were unsuccessful at connecting and seeing we were heading out for dinner, didn’t contact the staff for assistance. Nice feature to have and next time will work to get it connected if spending more time in the room. After the failed technology attempt, we headed to the second floor bar – The Placery. Pretty cozy area, we were the second party there as they just opened at 4pm. The bar tender – Ivonne was very friendly and provided the specials of the day. Ordered a Gin & Tonic then the Elderflower sangria (one of the specials) and neither disappointed. We also got the truffle fries and BBQ wings. Both were very tasty and more filling than we anticipated. After finishing there our dinner plans were foiled as we were full so just walked up the block to Whole Foods for a few late night snacks and back to the room.Barely made it to breakfast the next morning as the bed was very comfortable. Almost a split between regular and memory foam. I ran down around 9:30, breakfast ends at 10 to grab some coffee. The breakfast area was nice and bright, with a good selection of items and the coffee was decent. I wished we got up sooner to enjoy and leave more details. Upon heading back to the room with my to go coffee, the elevator situation was quite interesting. Two of the four elevators were out of service, not sure if that was by design or something else was going on. I ended up waiting for two elevators to finally get a spot and it was slow going with the stops along the way up.Overall I think the property was beautiful and a great option for the Chelsea area. Really liked how close it was to the train stations as well as shops nearby.
I had to cancel my reservation last minute due to a personal emergency. Explained my situation to the front desk team and they cancelled my room without any fees, without any problems. Thank you, Elaine, Kicia, Robert. Very professional and great customer service. Will be back.
Nice( but small) room; nice location, friendly and very helpful staff(Axel).Left my prescription Sun glasses in the hotel when I left. Staff located them and entered them in the list & found. Gave me the instructions to have them shipped to me. Great relief and a great service!
I stayed here from Feb 4th through Feb 7th. I absolutely enjoyed this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful.I told them Id definitely write a positive review due to their friendliness.Thank you very much.Ill definitely stay here again when I visit beautiful NYC again.
Pros: The place is okay, clean enough, and at a good location, near transits and Whole Foods.Cons: The AC is loud, very loud, make sure you bring some ear plugs. There are also some mystery hair every time after they clean the room. The elevator is really really really slow to arrive, takes 4 to 10 minutes if only one is working.
I will definitely be staying again at the Hyatt Place Chelsea location. We wanted to stay right in the city and this was the perfect location. The nearest train station was a 3 minute walk and The Flatiron was less than 10 min. Right when we got to the front desk, Tenzin was able to check us in right away. She was able to give us a early checkin at 9am which was perfect since we landed at 7am. Room was amazing. Great view and very clean, the tv even allowed us to stream netflix and hulu. The bathroom was clean and fully equipped with toiletries and fresh towels every day. We tried the complimentary breakfast and it was good for a quick bite before we got our day started. We love the fact that there was a Starbucks machine on the first floor so when we needed coffee or hot water it was right there. Overall it was a lovely stay. I would recommend this place to anyone who comes to visit nyc!!!
I wish I can give 0 star to this place!I checked in the room around evening, and AC was not working. On top of that, TV screen was broken.I called front-desk and they mentioned, they cant change the room as they dont have one, and asked me if TV screen was broken the time I moved in, as if I have broken the TV.It was really hot around 3am, so I called them again, the person on frontdesk didnt budge to give a better room.In the morning, I got another room, but guess what, the room had same problem, of AC not working. I asked front-desk to change room again. Finally they gave me a lower floor room with good AC.Overall experience was bad, no working AC, showers were not great(no force in water), automatic lights turning off(even if you dont want them to turn off). One more big problem - elevator sucks, I had to wait for 10mins to come down every time. I took stairs in the end to come down, so that I dont miss my flight. Will never stay again here!
For the price, you would expect more, certainly from Hyatt. Small rooms, thin walls, and late checkout is charged at a half-day rate, even for members. What is the point of hotel loyalty if the benefits are on a wishy-washy basis?Perhaps try somewhere else. There are many much nicer places in NYC for less, and are closer to Broadway / other destinations to boot.
Stayed for 2 weeks , view is adorable, rooms are tiny ,front desk 5/10house keeping 9/10maintenance 9/10breakfast 4/10bar 7/10has 4 public elevators, most of the time some are out of order , patience is the key if u wanna stay here , on an average i spent 10 min to wait for elevator to get down in the mornings.
Rooms are clean-ish (found old bottle caps on a floor), but lienen and towels are good. Room was small and building is wrapped around elevator so you will be right there. Elevators are always packed and in the morning not possible to use. Also, may be its NYC thing, but glasses are not allowed in rooms cuz can be used as weapon but you can take bottles as you please. I think its just a cheap managenent. Can be better for the price
Friendly staff , they checked me in very quickly and assigned me to a room I personally made a request for. The views of the Manhattan skyline were amazing. Breakfast was also part of the package and had all the essentials. It was not so busy in early morning around 7 o clock.Tenzin from front desk was super helpful in giving out recommendations for places to eat and where to get tested for covid. Michael made sure I felt comfortable during my stay also. Finally during checkout in the afternoon a staff member quickly arranged a taxi to the airport for me. Very short hair with glasses. Special shout out to the staff who were working so close to Xmas day, yet provided quality service. The room had all key amenities, it was rather small and would have liked a desk, but understandable. Wifi was easily accessible and there was also a fitness centre you could use.The location was one of the best things about this hotel. Close to all key Manhattan locations and nearby stations. Would definitely stay here again when I visit NYC
Not enough elevators given the height of the building (lots of waiting), dirty bathroom, slow internet ie a no frills kind of joint - only stay here if you get a below market rate - it’s not the absolute worst but there are much better options in the area for example the INNSide close by. I see a lot of reviews about the views - views are nice, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here based on the view out the window.
Positives:- Great view (20th floor downtown)- Location- Comfortable bedNegatives:- Terrible breakfast- A lot of dust in room- Mediocre service at front desk- Slow elevators- Housekeeping at random hours and generally random in what they did- Rooms could have been bigger or had smarter storage solutions
Horrible experience with booking for Thanksgiving stay for my parents. Booked hotel stay in July 2021 with expectation of nice Thanksgiving stay, but just received email saying the hotel is not ready (under construction) and cannot honor the reservation. They offered an alternate, but my parents do not want to stay 1 mile away. At least offer an upgraded Hyatt. Now we have to cancel and scramble last minute to find Thanksgiving arrangements. This hotel should be non-bookable until fully open.
Great property and Tenzin was very helpful at check-in. The location is perfect, close enough to walk to the village and also get around midtown. The property is brand new so its spotless, the views are amazing and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Ill definitely be back.
The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special I mentioned to them that we were celebrating my daughters 18th birthday they went out of their way to decorate and even got us a cake she was so happy and surprised to come back to the room set up and ready for us to party Shout out Natalie, and her staff .... Thanks again the Hyatt Place Chelsea Rocks
This hotel is a scam. By all accounts it does not appear to be an actual hotel. They accepted our money and cancelled the hotel a couple weeks out due to ongoing renovations. Now they are avoiding any attempt at us contacting them so that we cant get our money back. If they do ever actually open this hotel, youre risking your money with them as you may end up getting scammed as well. Booking a room here is an incredibly risky purchase. They allowed us to book a non-refundable room which apparently doesnt even exist yetEdit/update: After much effort (time on the phone trying to call this hotel and third parties) they finally decided to do the right thing here.
They cancelled my reservation because of construction delays then gave me the run-around after calling and messaging about getting re-booked.After three separate calls and messaging to the hotel through the booking company, still never re-booked me to another location. Had to rely on the internet booking company to get me a place to stay (and I believe they had to covet the cost!!) Sure, construction has unforeseen delays sometimes, but how can you leave customers high and dry like that? What a joke!!!
Internet connection at 0.80mps... You have to ask 10 times per day to have house keeping cleaning the room, they just dont... forget the elevator and prepare to do 40 floors by foot, too crowded and you wait forever the elevator from 8 to 10am, so almost forget breakfast too...
The hotel cancelled my reservation 4 days in advance due to construction delays. While I understand the issue, Hyatt did not help rebook or offer any compensation/coupon given the short notice. My reservation was booked over a month in advance and it was for a special occasion. Their cancellation had us scrambling last minute to find an alternative, which was impossible to find within the area and at the price. I even called a few days to make sure the reservation was still confirmed. Terribly let down by the mismanagement and poor customer service.
I have made a booking for December and all these days i am reading all the negative reviews regarding the cancelations which are being made only a few days prior the customers arrival.i have tried to contact the hotel 3 days now in order to see wether or not my booking is safe but none returns my message.i was a huge hyatt fan but after that i might not prefer them again. treating your customers like this is so unprofessional
They cancelled my reservation a few days before arrival. Would not work with me to find an adequate solution and instead just kept repeating the same thing over and over. Had to rebook on my own and ended up paying a much higher price than I planned due to it being last minute. Would never stay here and would never recommend anyone stay here.
Not the best location you can find in Manhattan. I booked way in advance and requested for an esely check-in. I arrived late at 4pm for them to tell me the king bed room which I had booked is not available and that I had an option to take a double bed or wait for approx. 45mins to get the required room because theyre overbooked and its subject to availability. I understand that some of the perks like early check-in, smoking rooms, etc. are subject to availability but it was a first for me to hear that room/ bed type is also subject to availability. Upon my insistence, they eventually gave me a king bed room that was for disabled people. While I had in mind that rooms in NY will be very tight and small, I didnt expect that the room will have almost literally no storage/ wardrobes. Also house keeping is not by choice, its scheduled based on hotel house keeping timetable which again was a first for me. The elevators are terrible. The staff however were really kind and welcoming. Breakfast is included and is very decent
Nice, really nice, very clean and nice, small rooms but with a breathtaking view of the city, I stayed for my honeymoon, and it was perfect, I had a room on the 32 * floor and the view of downtown was crazy .No problem with the lifts, only at peak times it could happen to wait for 3/4 minutes, but nothing more. The breakfast is also good if you like an American breakfast, that is, dont expect cappuccino and croissant, but scrambled eggs, sausages, etc. etc.The staff are also excellent, all very kind and helpful, thanks also for the surprise in the room for our honeymoon. We really enjoyed it
Very good experience in this hotel, cleanliness and impeccable welcome. The view is breathtaking on NY and the empire State Building, its absolutely magnificent. The hotel is conveniently located and makes visiting the whole city easy. The room was very small for 3, but we werent looking for a palace. The bedding is very comfortable and the room is cleaned every day, the room staff is also very friendly. There is sometimes a bit of a wait for the elevators, but nothing dramatic. The breakfast is an all-you-can-eat buffet, it varies little each day but I found it very good. I recommend this hotel with eyes closed :)
Perfect staff and setting. Thank you. Those who give negative reviews, I think nothing can satisfy them.Decent size room, comfortable bed, room cleaned perfectly every morning. Decent breakfasts. Friendly staff, from reception to housekeeping. If I return to NY I will book this hotel again with my wife and my 2 18-year-old children who, like me, were also delighted.
To flee urgently given the asking price for mediocre services.Very bad experience. We booked for 4 nights for my boyfriends birthday. We had requested a room on a high floor. We got a room on the 11th/~45 floors. When we arrived, there was no way to split the bill in half to pay the bill with two different credit cards. On the 2nd day, we left our room at 7:30. When we returned at 3:45 p.m., the room was not made (unmade beds, towels not clean, etc.).The hotel does not refill shampoo/soap every day and you have to ask reception several times to get shampoo again.Unfriendly, incompetent staff. Yet many.Hotel without charm.
Rooms: comfortable but small, some do not have a closet to hang clothes. Some rooms have a permanent air extraction noise that cannot be turned off.Breakfast: little variety and always the same. In a week nothing has changed. They dont replenish enough and things run out. In high season there is no space to sit down, getting a table is an odyssey.Elevators: you have to arm yourself with patience, at rush hour up to 15 minutes to go up or down from a high floor. We also had a problem with the car that we hired at reception to go to the airport, the agreed price was not met, according to the hotel it was a typographical error. The hotel manager washed his hands. The hotel has a lot to improve.Of course, from the 20th floor the views are spectacular.
The room is small but it is in the data. Still, its comfortable and has everything you need. The view from the 39th floor is spectacular.Breakfast very varied and delicious. The unbeatable location. Quiet neighborhood and close to many restaurants and businesses.Totally recommended. The cleanliness of the room is great. Every time we arrived at night the room was like new.
The location of the hotel is great. The rooms have an impressive view of the Empire State Building. The rooms are quite small but clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly, the breakfast itself was ok. However, the breakfast room is not optimally furnished and therefore very narrow. You have to squeeze through the rows of chairs with full plates and mugs. In addition, the tables and chairs could be cleaned more often. One of the four elevators in the hotel was permanently out of order, often only two worked. In this case, there were quite long waiting and driving times.
There were 3 of us in a room with a superb view. Unfortunately there is no storage for your belongings, everything remained in the suitcases. Breakfast was always the same 😱 (scrambled eggs, sausages, sandwich bread, bacon, fruit, white cheese milk, Kelloggs coffee tea...) No hot chocolate for the children. 😰. The team is nice especially the 2 young men 👍😘
Value for money… fair. Fair breakfasts. Food in NY is horrible. In hotels you eat pretty bad. Very noisy air in the room. The natural. The one they make serve to ventilate. Many elevators for so little service. We stayed 10 minutes to get down from the 7th to the Hall with our bags. I had to go down to the hall, take one and go get the bags on my floor. Oh, and they gave me a room that I hadnt asked for. Very good location of the hotel. Lots of atmosphere at night in that area. Maybe repeat if I have no alternative. You can go but knowing what is there.
One day I threw two unlit cigarettes that I was carrying in my jacket into the wastebasket in the room so as not to throw them on the ground in the street. The next day they charged me $200 to my card for room cleaning by showing me a photo with the two wet cigarettes in the bin.I would like to emphasize that at no time was there a smoke in the room or the smell of tobacco or anything.I had to argue with everyone at reception and in the end the manager told me that he would give me €100 back as the room had been spotless. All this in English since no one speaks Spanish, or at that time it was not interestingTotal that I arrive in Spain and I find that the invoice is not 800 in total but more than 1000€I send unanswered emails to the hotel.I feel totally cheated and ripped off when we did nothing wrong. The treatment was disgustingBEWARE OF THESE THIEVES.
Very good stay spent at the Hyatt Place NY / Chelsea hotel. The hotel is well located, the rooms are very clean if a little small, the cleaning is done every day and the sheets / towels are changed at each visit (which, having read the reviews of other hotels in New York n does not seem to be systematic). Special mention for the great view of the Empire State Building from the room.Breakfast, on the other hand, lacks a bit of variety and I regret that the hydroalcoholic gel dispensers were always empty during our stay (for a self-service buffet, not great).
Well located hotel. The view is breathtaking on New York. I had a view of the Empire State Building (37th floor). A bit small breakfast room for the number of customers. From 8:30 a.m. it gets busy. Hearty breakfast. At your disposal boxes to constitute a snack. Pretty rooms (iron and ironing board in all rooms, free tea and coffee available, king size bed, safe, fridge, a wardrobe too small to put all your clothes in.)
Hotel ideally located in Manhattan, close to the metro line N°1 which is very convenient for exploring the island of Manhattan from north to south.20 minutes walk from Times Square, 5 minutes from The Madison Square or there is a Shake Shack to eat in this magnificent park. Our rooms had a great view of the One World Trade Center on the 31st floor out of 45 in total for this hotel.Very clean hotel, room made up every day and very pleasant staff, breakfast was very correct.the only downside 2 out of 4 elevators out of order. If we have the chance to come back to New York we will surely come back to you.
For me the hotel provided us with full value for the price. We will start from the fact that we arrived at six and a half in the morning after a 12 hour flight and allowed us to get the room, the staff at the hotel serviceable, kind, attentive and always smiling and trying to help, breakfast has bacon and for me it is perfect, the view is breathtaking and towels are changed every day.Points for improvement ... In the future, the fourth elevator can be repaired to alleviate the distress of the elevators and shorten the waiting time.
AirPods were stolen from room service despite a safe, but without a case so you cant find them with the where is app, so it seems to have worked a few times. Rooms very small. At 2 a.m. in the hallway, an ice machine goes on for 10 minutes so loudly that you are completely torn from your sleep. Breakfast is ok but reminds me more of the school cafeteria. All in all one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in, I would actually prefer a hostel.
Hotel in a great location, large rooms relative to the city, varied breakfast, enlightening service (example: let us enter the room early in the morning without charge, supply of mineral water throughout the day and more), just a pleasant experience and the view is just the end of the road
Thanks to everyone who has already written a review. On Sunday I happened to check the location to see if the hotel was already open ... Were on Wednesday, November 24th. on site ..... Booking doesnt reach the hotel and I dont get any feedback from the Hyatt chain. The order has not yet been canceled! If we arrive on Wednesday and are left without a hotel in NY while it is Thanksgiving, Blackfriday, Christmas Tree etc., it is simply an unfathomable cheek not to even inform the guests and offer an alternative. A few weeks ago I was at Andaz Munich and am now shocked about the kind of customer service in NY !!!!!!!!!!!
So where do you start atGet to the hotel promptlyWelcoming smiling hostessWe got the room quicklyFirst impression of the room: small, darkOn the positive side: large TV, nice decor, nice bathroom (but small)We booked a room for two peopleThe bed is not comfortable at tt2 out of 4 lifts that workI want to remember that the tower is 45 floorsWe have to wait a long time to get an elevatorThe staff enter the elevator with all their cleaning equipment so there is no more room for customersEveryone calls the elevator to go down but as it takes a long time to get to the floor to ask baaah there is no one leftLets go to breakfastThere is very little choiceBasic and repetitive, nothing changes, its the same every dayLets move on to cleaning the roomGood job overall except for one thingTHE FLOOR, the first two days I noticed that the bathroom floor was not made, i.e. not cleaned with the vacuum cleaner and the mopSo I asked the housekeeper to vacuum the room and mopWhat is normal i findShe told me she was gonna do itI come back to my room in the evening and see that the floor has still not been doneAnd no mop eitherHousekeepers dont speak EnglishThey want to communicate in Spanish at all costsI do not recommend this hotel
Average experience! This is the first time that I put a comment and a note like that, it may not be the case for all the rooms but here is our experience:• We stayed 9 nights, on arrival the room was clean but the management of room cleaning was very special. Sometimes the room was made and sometimes not. Sometimes the towels were changed without retrieving the old ones and sometimes we even had to get them from the bin in the hallway. I think it was more of a misunderstanding than anything. The hotel as a whole is clean!• No storage in the bedroom so for a long stay everything stays in the suitcase.• If you are sensitive to noise, beware: the ventilation is really super noisy (air conditioning on or off, it doesnt matter). Very complicated. The gentleman in charge of the building was kind enough to come and tape us a cardboard plate to attenuate it, but the noise was still very present.• Very average breakfast (fortunately nice restaurants/bakeries nearby).• Fairly friendly staff.• Central location on the island so easy to get around on foot.

2022-04-03The Hyatt Place Chelsea was an outstanding choice for my recent Spring Break trip with my family. The location was perfect for hopping around the city to see the sights. We stayed on the 43rd floor and the views were breathtaking! So much so that we skipped the top of the rock tour because we were able to see so much of the city from the window of our room - downtown, One World Trade, and even the Statue of Liberty. The hotel is brand new and the rooms were quiet and organized well for the space. Front desk staff were helpful and friendly and took great care of us. The best part was the fully loaded breakfast each morning! The dining area was large enough to accommodate large groups, and the food was perfect and kid-approved! We were able to get a great start to our day of touring the city with a full breakfast. Couldnt have asked for anything better!

2022-03-06I really enjoy my stay at the Hyatt Place. Check-in with Alejandro was quick and easy. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming throughout my stay. The room was clean and and the views are truly something to behold. They have complimentary breakfast in the mornings, but the hotel is in such a great location that you can also walk to many coffee shops, eateries, and grocery stores nearby. It’s also very close to shopping and a few train lines to it’s easy to navigate the city. If you have an opportunity you should stop by the bar and have Yvonne make you a smoky old fashion - it’s so good! I’m very happy with my stay at the hotel and will definite;y recommend to friends.

2022-02-01Hotel is in a very convenient location, I was able to walk two blocks down to the Museum of Sex, one block down to Escape Room NYC, had lunch at a decent Mexican spot and had an amazing view of the Freedom Tower from the hotel room. My friend ended up in a room with the view of the Empire State Building and we stayed on the 40th floor. Incredible views are always a plus. The cleanliness of each room is noticeable, the room was extremely well kept and even the beds were made well with crisp sheets. The hotel has a modern upgraded touch to it and the rooms are cozy yet small but not overwhelmingly uncomfortably small. I will go as far as to say that this is one of the cleanest rooms in a hotel I have stayed and I have had a fair share of hotel stays. Staff is accommodating and overall nice.

2022-01-30We stayed for my girlfriends birthday and had a blast. Unfortunately we got snowed in, but the staff was Super helpful and allowed us to use their shovels from the night before.Hotel was super clean and all the amnesties were there. The rooms were definitely easy to use and felt super new. Would recommend staying again. I wanted to thank the front desk girl for giving us help. The view is amazing too!

2022-03-19I had a comfortable and pleasant stay at the Hyatt during my week visiting New York. The room had fantastic views of midtown skyline and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was pretty standard offering the same eggs daily and switching between bacon and sausages every other day.Check in wasn’t great as the receptionist was extremely stressed. I also had to leave hand written notes for housekeeping to supply us with soap and shampoo. The biggest complaint, however, was lack of space for me to put my clothes away so they spent the week in my suitcase. Regardless of these points, I still had a pleasant stay and would return.

2022-03-28The Hyatt Place on 24th is in a super convenient location and is walking distance to some of the best food and activities. We checked in on Saturday (early) and although our room wasnt ready they held our bags which allowed us to go explore. When we returned, check in was really quick and we arrived at our City View room on the 31st floor. We had a great view of the Empire State Building. The room met all your basic needs, clean and comfortable. The TV is mounted on a swivel/extension mount which is great. Check out was quick and easy and staff was super friendly.

2022-01-01First time spending New Year’s Eve in the Big Apple and my family couldn’t be any happier staying at Hyatt Place / Chelsea. We stayed at room 3505, the room is exceptionally clean and comfortable, and the best part is we couldn’t stop staring at the Empire State building as it was right in front of us, breathtaking view of the city! Service is impeccable on every level and the location is perfect, which is in the middle of everything, subway is only a block away that will get you to the best parts of NYC in just a couple of stops. Overall one of the best stays I’ve had in NYC and would highly recommend to my friends and family!

2022-01-03This hotel just opened so it has that brand new feeling to it which is awesome. The front desk was extremely nice and welcoming. The hotel offers a free breakfast in a huge space which was quite decent . Nice selection of hot and cold items. The neighborhood is awesome. There are great restaurants nearby and even a Wholefoods. Also the view from my room was amazing. I would stay again in a heartbeat.

2021-12-20The stay at the Hyatt Place Chelsea was incredible! Such a lovely hotel lobby and the room was amazing. The city view we had was gorgeous and unimaginable. Also the staff was so helpful during the check-in and check-out process. Even holding our bags after check-out was smooth and so quick to receive our bags as well. Elizabeth at the front desk was really helpful with that and so kind as well! Would definitely recommend other couples to stay here as well👍🏻. Such a lovely time with my partner and I, 10/10 experience.

2021-12-20This is a great hotel with modern, clean New York-style rooms. It was very easy to get to from the 1-line station on 23rd street which also gives you plenty of travel options throughout the city. The lobby was tastefully appointed and the front desk employee was extremely welcoming and able to have me checked-in and on my way to my room within minutes. The rest of the staff that I interacted with was similarly friendly and helpful, especially Gary the General Manager. Some of the older hotels are harder to navigate with bad signage which was not a problem at this property.Once in the room, the first thing I noticed was the awesome view of downtown. The bed and desk chair were very comfortable and while closet space was at a premium it easily handled everything I brought. The bathroom is hidden behind a sliding door at the foot of the bed and it is bright and spacious enough. The shower gets hot quickly and has very good water pressure.Overall, I was very impressed with this new property and look forward to staying with them again.
