This hotel in Midtown Manhattan is very close to the Empire State Building, MSG, and Times Square/Broadway areas. All of these places are walking distance. The hotel staff were very friendly and allowed us to store our luggage as we arrived a couple of hours early. The free breakfast had a great selection of hot foods, cereals, bagels, fruit, coffee, and juices. The rooms were clean, and we hardly had to wait for the elevator. The 26th floor terrace has a great view of the Empire State Building. For those who have never stayed in a Manhattan hotel, there is considerable street noise even in the wee hours. I suggest you bring ear plugs if youre a light sleeper. I would absolutely visit this hotel for future visits to NYC.
Comfortable bed and good shower. No maid service in 3 day stay even though it was requested.Staff was nice and its a great location, right by times square and lots of restaurants. Must have been allergic to whatever detergent is used there since I developed a rash on my neck. My friend was also itchy on her arms so it had to be something in the room. Be careful if you have sensitive skin
We were so pleased with our stay at they Hyatt. This was perfect for our family of 6. The room was a little tight once we pulled out the sofa sleeper but that was a very small inconvenience. Our flight arrived insanely late and we didnt get to the hotel until after 2am. (Gah!) The staff were incredibly kind. We asked if we could purchase some water and he immediately offered each of us a complimentary bottle. Such a kind gesture to a weary mom with tired kids. We made it up to our room and before we could even call the front desk to ask, we received a quiet knock on the door with extra pillows and blankets. Seriously, they went above and beyond. We loved our view of the empire state building and their breakfast was a great way to start our mornings. French toast sticks, sausage and steel cut oats with all the topping were the family favs. The location was perfect for our week in the big city and we will definitely stay here again.
Great location, breakfast is included. Room was clean and comfortable. They have a terrace on the top floor with amazing view of the empire state building. The one downside to this hotel is the terrible elevators. Only 2 of them. You can easily wait 15 minutes for one to show up.
Ended up booking here 24hrs before my trip as another hotel cancelled our res at the last minute. We arrived 3 hours prior to check and Andres was able to get us into a room right away. He told us all about the amenities including the 26th floor patio for guests, complimentary hot breakfast and access. The room was clean and much bigger than average for NYC; a welcome benefit for our family of 5. We had a 17th floor view of the Empire State Building and a large window to take it in. Beds were comfy and full daily linen service/housekeeping were provided. During peak hours you may have to wait 5 minutes for an elevator. I can’t recommend this place enough. Extreme value.
Rooms are small but good. Service is good too. We stayed there for 6 days and got the room serviced once in between. The back side of the hotel has some really great views of The Empire state building. They even have a semi-terrace floor from where you can see some iconic buildings of the midtown. There was Breakfast too but it was kind of a regular one, nothing special. The location if this hotel is really good, close to shopping centers, some subway routes, eateries, etc.
Overall, we have been very happy with our choice to stay at this hotel. It’s not a luxury hotel of course, but it is really nice and offers some great pros. For example, we had room 2402 and the view is great-excellent really. We can see the Empire State Building and many others. We have a double queen room with a sofa pull out, giving us enough room to allow our 7 month old to do some crawling around. Worked well for 2 adults and 3 kids (including the baby). When pull out soda was opened up it closed up that space, of course, but did still leave a narrow space for walking so that was good enough for us the one time we used it.The rooftop terrace provides an amazing view. Definitely worth checking out!! Can’t really ask for better when it comes to a great city view. The view has been the best part of our stay at this hotel, but second best is the breakfast. We have recently stayed in Hyatt hotels in NYC and DC. Both provided hearty, full breakfasts. This one may have even had a few additional options. Then, someone helped me clear my trash-unexpectedly-very cool! I mean, expect to clear your own trash, but I’m just saying, that was a cool thing that lady did for me.Hyatt’s also offer snacks which is great, especially if you’ve forgotten your vaccine card In NYC or your just needing a small treat or Red Bull or what have you.The front desk staff here was very friendly and helpful. A stroller in NYC can be difficult to manage, but they have side doors and helped us feel welcome to use them. They also helped us with the luggage cart. They have self parking right near the hotel. They have a fitness center on the LL.They have some nearby restaurants.Location was pretty great and made it easy to get pretty much anywhere, either by walking or metro. We would Certainly return to this location. Our only complaints (if you can even call them that) came from: the elevator noise, and just FYI they provide ear plugs in the rooms for anyone bothered by noises, but for us it was really no big whoop; and the occasionally spotty WiFi. The spotty WiFi was pretty easily survivable tho. However, it did effect my google maps and the TV at times. Still, not worth stressing over; narrow hallways from elevators to rooms (really something to just get over bc this is NYC). Didn’t keep us from getting around with a stroller and entire family. Adequate.I would recommend this location to friends and family and we would happily.
Positive: It opens rooftop 7am - 10pm and you can see wonderful day and night view including Emphire state building. Breakfast is outstanding too. Negative: The only problem is Internet. My room is on 22nd floor with city view. I think the signal is so week that you cant use wifi properly. In case, take your phone to in front of door and hold high, then wifi works. No problem using wifi at robby.
Our room was amazing. Perfect for two. But the best part of our trip wasn’t Times Square or the direct view of the Empire State Building, it was the amazing person being the front desk. Thank you Antonio for being so helpful, and for making our traveling craziness a little easier. He gave us tips on how to move around and was up for any questions we might have had. Thank you so much!! We hope to come back and visit you :)
What a great hotel and great staff. The location is great and the views are spectacular. I had zero issues here. Eddie at the front desk was great. He was friendly and knowledgeable and made us have a great stay. Kyle did a great job with the breakfast each morning. I would highly recommend this hotel. A+++
Small hotel in midtown Manhattan friendly and helpful front desk staff. Clean small room with the standard mini fridge, coffee maker and TV, our room also had a comfy couch, oversized ottoman and a small desk but did not include a microwave. We had breakfast this morning but currently its pretty simple with several juices, hot steel cut oatmeal, assorted cold individual cereals, yogurts self prepared toast or bagels and whole individuality wrapped apples, oranges or bananas.
This was a great hotel, especially for the price. If you can pick the right room you can get a great window view of the Empire state building. Service was great, very friendly staff. Its pretty close to time square, about 4 blocks. No complaints, if youre a regular person, if you are extra.. well pay extra somewhere else.
We enjoyed the fantastic view of the Empire State Building from both our room and the 26th floor deck. All the employees were friendly, and the rooms were clean and well-kept. The breakfast was buffet-style, but still grab-and-go, and the options were better than most grab-and-go we have seen during the pandemic. The location is perfect- walking distance to plenty of attractions. Well be back!
Positive: The location was amazing. Convenient to shopping, subway and other areas around the city. Negative: Our room had a fantastic view of the Empire State Building which we requested, but the glass was fogged up on the larger area due to age so the view was obscured. I would rather have a different room next time that I visit.
Positive: great room, nice and clean, new hotel, great free buffet breakfast, nice cosy lobby, great location. amazing block oit blinds, very quiet and peaceful Negative: staff was horrible and unwelcoming. Hotel employee was prob the worst front desk person I have ever encountered at a hotel. Hotel employee was quite rude and unwelcoming too.. hotel management needs to ensure staff are better suited to front desk pos
Positive: The hotel is in a good location for tourists or travelers, close to all transportation including Penn Station. The hotel seemed relatively quiet and small onece you got out of the lobby. Negative: There was no printed tourist info in the rooms or lobby, spent lots of time online searching and recharging phone. Lots of time wasted. Bathroom smelled sour even though it looked clean . Front desk staff looked bored and uncomfortable except for one man
Hotel’s wifi connection does not meet 2021 standards. Although in the room my wifi connection is full antennas, websites or contents won’t load until I am closer to the suite door. Hence the picture showing my setup in the stay. Moving the main desk wasn’t an option because the desk placement is too far. Also, having my phone near the bed, the wifi connection is lost during my rest. So I miss a lot of important messages. As a frequent visitor from a foreign country I wish to have a reliable and smooth experience to stay online. The hotel management should seek to improve this issue as it is 2021 and it is located in the heart of NYC.
Positive: Location was great, close to subway- Macy¿s and an easy connection to JFK ,stuff was friendly and helpful, bathrooms were cleaned well, Negative: It was a really small room There was distinctive odor ( it reminded me of a pet store) The bed and pillows were not comfortable Breakfast : a good coffee, great selection of teas, limited options :allergic ( GF cereal but no dairy free milk)
Nice clean hotel and the beds were really soft.Hotel staff were really nice and helpful.Breakfast consisted of - bagels, muffins, cereal, breakfast sandwich, juice and really great coffee. We parked at Meyers garage just a few feet from hotel ($ 55.00 for 24 hours) No issues. We also had a great view of the empire state building and at night the lights were beautiful. There was a comfy couch in the room and a small refrigerator. The walk to Time square was not that far.I would definitely stay here again 😃
Positive: After experiencing a horrible time at Carvi (55th btw 3rd/Lex. Dont stay there!) Hyatt was a welcome reprieve. We arrived at 12p and were going to drop off our bags since check-in was @3p but our room was ready and we had our toddler and were so grateful Negative: There is a beautiful rooftop patio on the 26th floor. The breakfast is complimentary, simple things like muffins, cereal, hardboiled eggs, bagels, fruit, coffee & tea. For a pandemic its not bad. The windows facing the street can be loud but ok after 10p
Positive: Clean & roomy space , nice shower & comfy bed , generally all good ¿¿ ...oh yeah ... free breakfast was nice , good selections given the post-pandemic restrictions. Negative: (housekeeping on request)...well were still emerging from pandemic ...so I can live with it, for now. No daily maid-service , but always clean towels available.
Dont trust the name. We didnt receive any cleaning service. They dont clean the room even if you stay many days in the hotel. Our trash bags were full and they didnt replace them although we asked for it. We asked them to fix the sofa in the room and they didnt care at all. One receptionist called Antonio was rude, not responsive and didnt respond to our requests. The breakfast was also awful: Stale braead, bagels and muffins...
I travel to New York for work very often, and to come to stay at a hotel with prime location you hope to receive the best service. However, that was not the case when I stayed. First, the breakfast includes no hot meals as well as molded fruit. I picked up two oranges to take back to my room only to find out that both had mold and were not good to eat. When brought to their attention, the staff seemed not to care. Not only was the breakfast not up to par, The Hyatt Place staff was extremely rude. The cleaning lady and another staff member came up to my room to issue a warning of no smoking, yet I do not smoke nor had been smoking inside or outside the hotel. So I went to talk to the manager and the cleaning lady proceeded to give very unprofessional responses, such as if you are smoking then stop which made me upset on the account that there was no smoke or anything coming from me or my room. So you can imagine my disgust when the cleaning lady held up her hand as if she was done talking to me. I told the manager who was standing right there that this was unacceptable and that they need to reevaluate their staff. The elevators need to be inspected as you press the button multiple times and have to wait for the response of the elevator or for the light to show up.The staff was so busy issuing me a false warning when there was cigarette buds in the stairway between the 1st and 5th floors as well as blood (had to take the stairs because elevators were backed up)My worst stay in New York to date. Will never stay here again and will not recommend friends nor family.
Our stay was great. From our view, to the staff, especially Eddie (usually the night associate). He was very kind, tended to whatever questions we had or things we needed, gave us all kinds of tips/advice and made my 5 year old feel special. Such a kind hearted and helpful person! Will definitely be looking at this place again if we make trips out here in the future!
Theres a mechanical noise throughout the day and night from the elevators that clangs that can be heard throughout the hotel, especially the upper floors.Adding: we have so far tested 2503 and 2 separate rooms above 20th floor. Audible elevator engine and elevator cable noises. In all. Began to notice each room comes with earplugs. Thats really not a good sign. Its not street noise thats this places problem. Its the buildings internal noises. Dont sty here. Its really badly built.
When we booked the hotel, we were worried about how far away from everything it would be. (Our initial hotel plan had us right in Times Square but that fell through.) We were delighted to discover how conveniently close it was to EVERYTHING.There was a rooftop view of the Empire State building that we did not know existed when we booked our room. We were a 5 minute walk from Bryant Park, 34th Street, and about 10 minutes from Times Square. It was great to be able to go back and forth from our desired locations within minutes. It gave us the chance to decompress and refresh when needed. Our purchases could be placed there easily. It was not an out of place stay.I did not give this place a 5 star rating for a few reasons. I was bothered most by the incidentals. When we checked in, we were told that there would be a small charge that would be removed when we checked out and our room was checked. We anticipated that, as that is standard. What we did not anticipate was the incidental charge of $400. We expected the usual $50This hotel charged $100 a night, as we discovered. The money was returned, as we expected it to, as we did no damage. It just would have been nice to know that before the charges appeared and caused a panic.Another reason that my star rating was not a 5 was due to the fact that the water was shut off. I appreciated the few hour notice, but I was not thrilled about having to adjust my plans to not have water in the room. It was annoying. This leads to my next point. It was also frustrating that there is no complimentary water for the room. You must pay for it all. Luckily, I had a few bottles of water from our 7 hour drive to help us out. I guess I got spoiled by other hotels giving you two bottles a day for free and not wanting $3 for a bottle right off while not having water in the room.I would also suggest working with the parking garages on the street to give a discount. When we went to the parking garage, we asked if any discounts were avaliable. We were told it was only for those staying at Embassy Suites. When we stayed in DC and Cincinnati, the hotels worked with the parking garages to get discounts, even if it was only $10 off a day. If Hyatt did that, it would be awesome.I appreciated the COVID safety measures. It was nice to not have to fret over someone coming in and out of the room for housekeeping. It would be nice to have a cart on the floor for soiled laundry or to take fresh towels instead of hauling everything down to the front desk and back up each time.Would I return to this hotel? Yes. I would. Do I know how to better plan for this hotel? Yes, I do. Do I know to pack water? Yes.
My family usually doesnt stay in hotels, but from March 13 - 15 for my bday, we were here & really enjoyed our stay! I asked if they offer anything for birthdays, & we recieved a complimentary upgrade - it seems I couldve recieved additional complimentary things but DUE TO COVID-19 MANY AMENITIES the hotel offers ARENT AVAILABLE, & the website we booked through DIDNT MENTION so (such as the gym being closed, breakfast being to go, housekeeping only cleaning after checking out, etc). Nonetheless as I stated we still had a great time - the place is still pet friendly, the terrace is still open & a great place for Empire State Building photos, & breakfast is still good! The service is good, the place is clean & near many attractions.
Positive: The room size, abs close location to the shopping area. Negative: The. mornings make staff was extremely rude to me, he was supposed to requested Housekeeping to clean my room, since I was staying 10 day instead off four days. He was very condescending as he add me me, when ge put my room key on the counter.
Rooms are good, and the location is ideal. However the breakfast is terrible there is no alternatives for healthy meals and/or most common chronic diseases or intolerances in 2021 - if you have lactose or gluten intolerance or don’t eat sugar because you have any blood issues, you’ll have to skip the breakfast. Fasting is good though!
The hotel was clean the room was good the view was excellent they have a Terrace on the top floor which was convenient but the service there is none because of covid-19 so you have to empty out your own garbage get your own bedding and towels and amenities other than that my overall experience was great
I have to say I really enjoyed my stay here. It was my first time in New York City and wasn’t sure what to expect for my first time. Upon arrival I was greeted by friendly staff. The lobby was neat and organized. Understandably our room wasn’t ready at 9:00 am, so the front desk agent offered to hold my luggage until it was ready, which was fine I had a lot to experience that day and the staff got me super excited for my first visit more so than I was. My partner and I arrived back late in the evening our luggage was retrieved and we went up to our room. Upon entry we noticed we had an amazing view of the Empire State Building from our room. We then ran for the lounge deck in the top floor to get an even more amazing look. We had a great sleep and we found no issues of cleanliness. I do wish breakfast lasted longer. Upon checkout the desk agent offered to store our luggage again so we could get some sightseeing in before our train departed. Would love to stay again.
Clean, affordable rooms with a great viewIf your looking for a nice room thats not to huge but not super small this is for you. Cozy and clean , within walking distance of all manhattan attractions and shops. We walked a different direction each Time we left and found so many amazing little shops and some surprisingly large ones as well. If your on the fence and the websites arent making things any clearer than pick this hotel and explore other options once youve made it to nyc for the first time. Its a great middle priced room for a few days worth of exploring NYC.
Family of 5 perfect fit. We really enjoy this brand, 2 beds & a sofa bed is standard for the Hyatt place. This particularly location had decent size CLEAN rooms, good amount of towels already in room. Smaller lobby but was never an issue, great dinning space for breakfast - that was honestly the best free hotel breakfast I’ve ever had. Additionally upon check in we were greeted with a super friendly staff and the ability to order cocktails and snacks, with quick service. Parking garage just a 1 minute walk up the street. $53 for 24 hour parking. That’s affordable compared to other places close by. Lastly, shake shack around the corner, so good! Close to lots of things. Affordable Uber and taxi rates from this location. Overall great experience.
One of the worst hotel experiences of my life. I stayed here for only night which, which GOOD THING it was only one night. I got extra sheets for the room and one of the sheets had a huge rip and another had a RED stain! I immediately was repulsed and took action, and no one at the front desk seemed to want to help. It has now been almost 24 hours and they haven’t done anything for us. They say it’s “under investigation”. What does that have to do with customer focus and taking care of the customer? If you messed up, you take care of the customer. I am honestly disgusted at how terrible the service was. Anabel, the front desk manager barely even took the time to listen and had a very bad attitude. I can say with certainty I won’t stay here again.
This hotel is located in an excellent place. We were literally just a couple of blocks away from the Empire State Building. The view from the balcony is also very nice. The balcony is large and quite private. The staff were all friendly, the breakfast was varied and the overall experience was excellent.
Lovely clean hotel in a wonderful location for all your city needs.Staff are friendly and helpful.Pay extra of a higher room as street can be noisy. If you stay on a lower floor don’t bother with lift going down for breakfast take stairs always faster. Lifts are always busy around breakfast time.
Was a great hotel. Staff were friendly and courteous. When we asked for fresh towels, they were delivered in less than 5 minutes. Room was impeccably clean, quiet and comfortable.Serves breakfast but we never got our asses in gear in time to try it out. No bar or restaurant otherwise, but youre in Mid-town so there are plenty of places within steps of their door. Will definitely stay here again.
I stayed in a single king bed room that had a nice view of the Empire State Building. The room was very clean and the free breakfast was delicious. I hardly heard any noise from outside or from my neighbors. It’s perfect for those who are walking or taking public transportation as it’s very close to a subway station and a ton of great restaurants. It’s also close to some of the main tourist attractions such as Times Square. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!
The room I am in is either a tired 4 star or a good 3 star. The staff are enthusiastic but seem to lack experience but that might be a bit mean as I have only just arrived stayed one night so far. The reception area is a bit small and tight adding to the Star rating. The bed I have is very comfortable and the room is clean. I got a great nights sleep. They do provide ear plugs stating new York is very vibrant, I did not personally need them but if they upgraded the glazing they would not need the note with earplugs, a cheap solution again adding to the rating. The room service menu is very limited and comes on polystyrene plates with plastic cutlery. The food was okay but not great. They also sent my room service meal to reception which is an option but I had asked for room service. In addition they mucked up my order of a meal and a bottle of water, they forgot the water which was not billed when I checked. The gym is not well maintained but the equipment is i good working order. I have not stayed in New York before but compare to other cities around the world ( London, LA, Malaysia, Barcelona ) this is a 3 star with potential to be 4 star. I suppose the real proof is would I stay again and I think the answer would be yes but only if I was looking to save money. I would also say my options are limited because this is a business trip and I would go for a 4 star hotel if it was personal choice, so I might be being a bit snobby.
The hotel is in a great location in Midtown. The rooms are spacious and clean, and, unlike many other hotels in NYC, have a small kettle and a selections of tea and coffee. The staff is very friendly and a ready to help. The breakfast is great. Good selection if cold and hot items, fruit, pastries etc.The doors of the rooms are very close to each other, so you will hear people going in and out. On each floor only two rooms are far enough from the lift. The major problem is the fact that most of the rooms have their windows onto a noisy street, with a large bar just opposite. So make sure that you are given the highest floor possible, or you won’t be able to sleep without earplugs.
Stayed for 5 days end of May 2019 with my daughter and her partner. We loved it!! Very clean and modern, tea and coffee machine in room with large TV. Superb top floor balcony with sofas and the most spectacular view of Empire State. SO close to everything and great food shop next door for great food. Staff were excellent and friendly Dont book taxi from hotel to airport but just step into road and call a yellow cab. Fares are fixed so only $52.. Thank you staff for a fantastic stay
Booked this hotel the day of our trip. The front desk was very accommodating and Dave was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and housekeeping did a great job. This hotel is in a great location and the breakfast was nice in the morning to grab something before starting the day. We will definitely staying here again. If I had to have one complaint it would be that there was no clock in the room. Not a big deal because of cell phones but, would have been nice to have a clock.
This is my favorite Hyatt in NYC - I’ve stayed here at least 6 times in the last 5 years. Good staff, nice rooms with big windows, and they recently re-did the lobby to modernize it. It looks great. My husband and I recently stayed here for our annual holiday trip to the city and had a great experience. The location is just far enough from tourist attractions to not be crazy traffic/tourists/etc, but is close enough to walk almost anywhere in Manhattan. Overall, I’ve loved staying here multiple times and am always eager to return!
Great location and accommodations. Arrived hours before check-in, and the staff stored my luggage for me. This allowed me to get a jump on site seeing. Breakfast was complimentary, and the menu changes daily. Get breakfast early to ensure you get a place to sit and food. After checkout, my return flight was cancelled. I went back there, and they put me up for the night and were very sympathetic to my situation. Considering it was a Friday, I was surprised how easy going they were with me. Cant wait to go there again.
The Hyatt is a pretty good hotel especially for its location if youre visiting the sites and shopping of Herald Square/Empire State. Pleasant front desk staff but they seemed understaffed. The rooms are more like 3.5 stars as my experience deemed them on the smaller side than average NYC. The bathroom was nice and clean. The room less so. The front desk very quickly responded to my requests for extra towels and pillows. And the terrace! Fantastic! Great for visitors and reasonably priced.
Comfortable stay. Great location and staff who really care. I saw the wonderfully friendly front desk staff run up 4 flights of stairs to get a new key to a guest sooner than waiting for the elevator. She took the elevator down, out of breath, and said all I can say is, we love our guests! It clearly showed. The roof view of the empire State building is great too! Would definitely stay again.
Great location. Good price. Discounted parking located pretty close given that it is NYC. Room was clean but the bathroom was in bad shape (fixtures very loose, sink broken, etc.). Perhaps the prior guests partied in the room (could sleep 6) and just crashed the place. Everything other than the bathroom looked like newly renovated. Probably worth 3.5 stars.
Photos dont do justice to rooms, their Photoshop artist is good! Messy room, had stains on carpet, linen not all the clean blankets seem torn in drier. City view from room not as spectacular as photos suggest but the open terrace is great. The reservation staff is great though and very understanding too. I would book this place again but not for the price I paid! There are similar hotels around which are much better and value for money.
Stay at the hotel for 6 days and we definitely had a pleasant stay. The location is perfect for us which was located at the center of midtown and you could approach to subway easily. Macy’s, JC penny and Manhattan mall were also just minutes away from the hotel. The room we stay was in average size but had great view of New York City that we enjoyed waking up everyday under the sunshine rose between skyscrapers. The hotel had complimentary breakfast which was in good quality considering it’s a 3 star hotel only. Overall we would choose this location if we came to New York again.
Good central location. Our room was reasonably spacious but fairly average quality. Air conditioning seems to be dead, as they had installed a portable unit in the room with semi-permanent fittings to the window. It was pretty loud, but tbh the white noise helped me sleep. Friendly staff!
Front desk was very friendly. Spontaneously decided ro spend the night after long day and big meal, they provided toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, and shaving cream. Room was just as pictured. Very clean and great on demand movie options that were still in theatre. Did not take advantage of free breakfast so cant speak to quality. Would recommend to friends and would stay again. Great location too!
Loved this place. The rooms are clean and roomy (by New York standards).Complimentary breakfast saved us money in the mornings. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Dont use the room phone for any calls, just about every is long distance... a phone call to the pizza place two blocks away cost us $5.Complimentary water bottles for when you go out walking for the day.About 2-3 blocks from Times Square, 2 blocks from the subway, 3-4 blocks from the Empire State Building, and tons of eating and shopping all around. About 2 blocks down the road is a Walgreens if you need snacks, drinks, and medicine.Dont forget to visit the top floor balcony for a spectacular view of the Empire State Building and some of the city.
Amenities was very didappointing! No room service - understandable due to covid - then do all you can to accommodates your guests like supplying disposable plates. You have cups & utensils, why no plates.??Soaking rug from the rainfall on 11/30 - room smells like wet dirty clothes.Unknown of pet cleaning fee $75.00 & the list goes on...
Nice hotel. Good location. Rooms are smaller than a normal Hyatt Place. The couch is not separated from the bed like usual. The breakfast was incredibly busy with not enough seating for all the guests, but is probably the largest Ive seen at a Hyatt Place. The breakfast did not have as many options as usually thought.
The location is great and the rooms are good too. The evening staff is great. Michael was amazing, and Anabel was sweet. But the morning staff and the dining area staff are terrible (especially Eddie). They are on autopilot, cold, rude and don’t give a rats tail about the customers or customer service. With that said, Maima fixed a situation that we had and I was impressed by how the management handled the situation. I have to give a shout out to Michael. He knows how to make the guests feel special and welcomed! Will definitely stay there again and recommmend it to others.
The rooms are as expected for a city hotel. Dont rlexpect a normal sized Hyatt Place room! But they are comfy, clean, and still a good size. The staff is very friendly. The only reason for taking away one star is the breakfast. Its a bit chaotic and most of the food needed to be refilled when we were in line.
Stayed here for 8 nights, thats a lot of nights and you would expect the staff to try to give you a comfortable room. Yes, I waited and they gave me a room on the top floor, 26th, but didnt bother to tell me that the air conditioning on the roof would be very noisy, or that they would be using the next room for servicing breakfast on the 26th floor patio so that around 6:30 am there would be cooking smell and noices, or that tons of people would be coming and going on my floor. I asked to change room and it took several tries before we were changed to a smaller room. This Hyatt definitely does not live up to its reputation, rooms are small and dated, staff was not friendly. Management really needs to seriously retrain the employees. Yes, the location is good!
Price was good, relative to other local hotels. Location is great, 2 blocks to subway and centrally positioned within Manhattan.Rooms can be a little noisy (I think there is a bar that likes playing loud music nearby), so that was my only real complaint. Then again, youre in NYC - what do you expect?Everything was clean and staff was courteous. Would stay again.
My wife and I stayed here for five terrific days in Dec 2017. The hotel is a short walk from Penn Station and Macys, with easy access to most of the main subway lines. By NY standards the room was huge, and the king bed is very comfortable. Large screen TV with easy external connections made streaming neflix easy. The front desk staff is fantastic. Super friendly and extremely helpful.Breakfast is very good-- hot food and plenty of it. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, fruit, cereal, etc. They stop serving promptly at 9 on weekdays so dont be late.We visit New York regularly and will definitely stay here again.
As Hyatt members we normally stay at Grand Hyatt in NY, which was unavailable last minute. According to Hyatt, this hotel is comparable to Grand Hyatt. I’ve stayed at Hyatt Places throughout the country and they were always pleasant, although not anywhere comparable to the luxurious Grand Hyatt. This one is awful. I gave them 2 stars only because they have a lovely roof top seating area, overlooking the Empire State building. They Are under construction which they neglected to tell us when booking. The lobby is chaos, with a make shift checkin. They only have 2 elevators, and one was broken, it took almost 15 minutes for the elevator to come down to the first floor.. They don’t even have service elevators for their staff, so the poor housekeeping staff were waiting so long for an empty Elevator. The elevator is super tiny as well. They do not have a 24 hour convenience store like others have so you need to walk down the block to the 24 hour Duane Reade. The bedspread was worn with all pulls in it, the couch in the room had tears and the furniture was all scratched. Do yourself a favor, stay at the Holiday Inn Express next door. This is a no frills, poorly run hotel, unlike any other Hyatt we’ve stayed at before, and certainly nowhere near comparable to the Grand Hyatt, which is sadly closing next year.
For my duration of my stay i feel like you literally pay for a room. no room service which i understand due to covid. the one receptionist with the annoying voice was very rude towards my guests and I which was completely uncalled for - if you can’t have visitors in your room due to covid rules they should at least allow you to sit in the seated area which doesn’t make sense because i witnessed guests both sitting and EATING there, but when we wanted to sit there it was an issue. i’ve been to other hyatt hotels and this is by far THE WORST stay i’ve ever encountered. close enough to be considered a motel. don’t waste your time you’re better off going to the holiday inn next door.
Our stay at the Hyatt Place was great! The front desk staff especially Antonio were simply the best. When we asked about places to eat Antonio told us about Claw Daddys. We fell in love with that restaurant. Their service was impeccable and when I come back Ill be staying at the Hyatt.
A really bizarre experience. The website advertises thoughtfully sourced, regionally inspired food at their bar, but the bar doesnt exist yet. The menus everywhere for room service were also moot, as they didnt yet stock anything on the menu (was literally told, we just switched to this food company and we havent ordered any of this stuff yet). The first towel i grabbed was dirty and had someone elses makeup face in the middle; the second was threadbare and full of holes. There was melted junk all over the iron, so it had to be scrubbed before use. Lower floors are VERY loud from street noise all night. Breakfast was advertised at 630 but still wasnt being served as i headed out at 645 each morning. The people working were extremely kind, the location was very convenient, and the WiFi was decent... But if you need any of these other things normally provided by hotels, you might look elsewhere.
This is the second time Ive been here. The first time was for business, this time it was for fun. The location isnt bad for tourists. Theres a nice little bodega next door. The staff is very helpful with food deliveries and very friendly. Its a big hotel, so room cleaning didnt happen as early as I expected, but it was satisfactory. I wiln stay here again (or the Grand Hyatt, depending on rates :)
What an absolute hot mess. Walked in to the hotel and right off the bat computer issues . Jendy came to assist and boy is she mouthy and honestly rude. My ride to the hotel was long and uncomfortable and now I’m staying in a place where the receptionist are just rude. I hope the rooms are clean.
Excellent customer service the moment I walked into the lobby from the concierge. Free breakfast with your stay. The room was nicely sized, cleaned spotless, and the bed was very comfortable. The only downside to my stay was having to go downstairs for ice. The check out seemed to be late because I dodnt recieve a call reminding me to leave nor asking if I want to book another day.
The hotel itself - is OK. Small rooms, basic breakfast. 2 elevators that can make wait 5-10 mins during busy hours.I gave it a 2 because of way the manager spoke to me and insulted me, because of an honest mistake. (We arrived early to nyc, so I booked to hotel to a day prior to our arrival, and they marked as no show). We won’t comeback to this hotel nor recommend to anyone that we know.
Great location, nearest parking garage is about a 5 min walk. Terrace was awesome! Room is on the small side, but definitely not bad for nyc, and there were a few small bloodstains on the sheet. David at the front desk was AWESOME. Best customer service I’ve ever received in the city.
The service was very poor, the rooms were dirty my sheets had a red stain on it when I asked to change my sheets the young lady said all the sheets are like that, the staff are clueless, rude and unprofessional and most of all they look dirty I couldn’t distinguish them from the homeless. The hotel had no hot water for several days they did put a sign up until the second day. The area where they put out breakfast the rugs are dirty it looks like it did not clean for months that area there is a couch that is where one of the staff hangs out I am not sure if he sleeps there, I went down to inquire about the hot water and he did not even move from the couch it was really bad this hotel is a dump and staff puts it in the gutter. The people give Hyatt a bad name. I they don’t deserve a one star.
Its a decent, clean hotel. They have good pillows and matresses, free breakfast, gym, outdoor seating areas. Good size rooms. The down side: Only 2 slow elevators, and the staff is constantly using one of them. It doesnt seem like a Hyatt to me, its more like a Holiday Inn Express. The decor is kind of dumpy and the furniture reminds me of dorm room furniture. Expected more from Hyatt in that department.
Convenient New York City hotel location, this Hyatt is compact, clean, and has a breakfast option available to its guests. The rooms are decorated with contemporary fabrics and design, offering comfort to watch television, listen to music, and relax on the couch or bed. Complimentary beverages are available as well in the lobby.
Comfy clean modern room with the absolute best contenental breakfast Ive ever had. Scrabbled eggs, sausage and waffles one morning and eggs, bacon and pancakes the next . We arrived prior to check in on a Saturday and front desk was nice enough to hold our bags while we grabbed lunch down the street . They even got us into our room early . Close to everything and safe to walk back to at night . Would stay and again an highly recommend to anyone . We are a young couple and had a wonderful first NYC experience staying at this hotel .
Nice view, good location, convenient rooms are modern, clean & tidy, looks nice like on pics, very nice lobby, staff is helpful and friendly, the breakfast is delicious and plentiful. no pool, expensive parking, maids are very busy, we had to go get our extra toiletries but did an excellent job of cleaning our room while we were away
The room was clean and decent, and great facilities and sincere services for a business hotel.breakfast is included and it exceeded my expectation.location is really awesome since midtown and lower manhattan are accessible in 20mins , and metro station is located 20min by walk.the only thing inconvenient for me was that therere no slippers in the room, but still enough to rate 5stars
Room 908 is smaller than online photos. Couch is crammed next to the bed and its next to impossible to walk around without bumping a knee.Workout facility is old, buried in the basement and the weight selection is pretty sad. Not even a mat for stretching or floor work. The rooms are clean. Unlike many of the hip hotels, theres a set of drawers provided. And the front desk staff is very helpful.
Rooms are compact but well maintained. Excellent location, 2 blocks from the Empire State building. No issues with the bathroom, coffeemaker, TV or fridge. We were upgraded to a 2 queen bed room with a view of the Empire State building by the night manager - never got his name but a really sweet large guy with a unique neck. Breakfast was good, clientele were mainly commercial, suits abounded. Now, heres why it got 4 stars instead of 5. Parking is up the street at Meyers garage (busy garage, very decent people, and Ill get to why in a minute). The hotel charges $49 for parking, the garage charges $55 plus tax. So you get a few bucks off when you stay here. Valets at the garage seems to believe the discount is a lot more - I was told $20 more - but thats hearsay and I am not concerned with this discount or markup. Here is what happened - we drove in and stayed for 1 night and parking is valid for 24 hours. We spent time in the city after we got our parking validated at the hotel while checking out. Validation consists of a sticker they stick behind your parking slip. Thankfully I had NOT prepaid my room, and so the parking charges showed on my bill during checkout.Sometime that afternoon I lost my parking ticket. I naturally called the hotel and asked for a duplicate validation as I had already paid. I was told by the day manager on 4/9/2018 that I would have to pay again!! He admitted they have a record of my payment but refused to provide me with duplicate validation or even a note for the garage up the street!Thankfully I was able to show my hotel receipt with parking charges to the folks at Meyers garage, who very reasonably asked me to fill out a form before releasing my car.I cannot believe that anyone in the hospitality industry would do this to a hotel guest. What if I had prepaid for my room and just paid separately for parking? What proof would I have had?If I ever stay at this hotel again I now know what to do with my parking.
We stayed here for five nights and was really happy with the hotel. Rooms were a good size (for New York,), hotel location was awesome - 2 minutes from the subway, 10 minutes from times square, 5 minutes from MSG and Penn Station, and the continental breakfast was a nice added bonus. Staff was very friendly and helpful as well.
I stayed in this hotel twice & find it pretty decent except for the last experience i had. I was charged double for my room as i used another credit card during payment. They charged me with the credit card i used during booking as well as the one i present for payment. I sent them an email back in end May & didnt get a reply till now although i resent it again. This is really irresponsible not to address to customer after they left the hotel.
Stayed here the last 4 trips to NYC. Herald Sq is a sneakily great central location for tourists. Hotel is simple, but high quality with unintrusive, helpful staff. Wish there were more vegan breakfast options outside of bananas and apples, but they did have almond milk for the above average coffee service.
A good hotel, the place is wonderful on the 36th, really close to the Empire State building, central station, Penn station and a subway. The breakfast is included but you have to sign for a membership program (free of charge), breakfast very good with lots of good stuff. Coffee is great (ok Im the only Italian loving American coffee) The room is a little noisy thats because of the fans on rooftops on lower buildings but I think thats part of NY experience... Anyway on the 10th floor is absolutely not disturbing.
Absolutely loved it. Very nice location - centrally located to Times Square, Bryant park, Grand Central train station. NY city bike around the corner. Amazing restaurants near by.Staff is super helpful, professional and courteous, especially if you get a chance to interact with Dulce, Zofia and Rosalyn.Rooms were nice and clean. Beds were comfortable. House keeping was always prompt and good at their job.Free hot breakfast (in our reservation) that serves your palate and helps save $$$ as well. All in all a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would again look into staying here if / when I return to NY.
After spending a night in New York with no place to go after a different hotel refused to check me into my reservation. I was exhausted, with a cold, and indeed of a place that felt like home. Than Expedia found for me Hyatt Place New York City Midtown South just 10 minutes away. I walked in and right away I realized this place was different; they kindly checked me in right away and from the beginning I felt at home. My room was large, the bed was big, and slept so well past breakfast :( Still need to work on that wake-up call... but still I can’t begin to thank them enough for their wonderful hospitality and a most excellent stay.
Good hotel in a great location for visiting attractions in Manhattan (but the traffic is noisy, take earplugs!). The viewing platform on the roof is a nice touch, with view of the Empire State Building. Cleaner throws stuff away a bit zealously - if you take your own teabags etc., put them away when you go out.
The Hyatt is a great place to stay while in New York. Its very central and close to a lot of things and the staff was nice. My only small annoyance would be with the room (bathroom specifically), which had a leaking faucet when using the sink. It wasnt a huge deal and my girlfriend and I didnt want to get moved to another room for this so we just dealt with it. But definitely let the staff know after our stay. Otherwise good time spent here!
Location is great, very central in Manhattan. Room was pretty spacious (for New York), clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was ok, with a variety of hot and cold dishes, but not fantastic. No fresh juices, nothing made to order. Breads/bagels are mediocre. But, eggs and fruit, coffee are ok and we will eat the breakfast as long as we stay here. We are up on the 22nd floor and it is quiet enough, with a good view too. The bed and pillows are comfortable.
Good place to stay if you want to be in the heart of crowded Manhattan streets. But, that has a price, and besides money price is that you hear traffic and everything that is going on on the streets and in the rooms around yours. And, if you want to talk with kitchen staff be prepared to talk Spanish. On the other side front desk employees are really polite and helpfull.
Refused to bring fresh towels or clean the room. I had to steal some towelsnfornmybkids ton use from a cartoon the 8th floor. Promised a room with view....got down graded to 7th floor view of a wall. Friendly staff on dayshift. Breakfast was nice. Public restroom on main floor does not provide toilet paper son you must use your shirt. I would not stay here again. Very friendly muggers and homeless people in area.
For the price, you get a lot of hotel. Theres no lobby bar or fancy amenities, but like other Hyatt Place hotels, you get a room where you want it with just enough services to make the stay pleasant. For anything else you might need, Manhattan is out the front door. Ask for a room with a view of the Empire State. Its dramatically better than other views around the hotel.
Only one of the two elevators for this 26th floor hotel is working. It takes a long to to get down to the lobby and up from my room. We’ve had to take the stairs to our floor on the 20th floor several times. We were not told at check in that one of the elevators was out of service.
Nice property right in midtown, steps away from both 6th and 5th avenue. I found the property to be very convenient with friendly staff. The two elevators servicing 24 floors tend to be slow at peak periods. Breakfast bar serves same dishes each day so can be repetitive after a few days. Property is a very good choice.
If you looking for bad service and bed bugs, this is your best choice. My friend and his wife invited my wife and I to spend 3 days in NY. When we got there, we found out that our reservation was placed as a king size bed with a couch. So we asked to switch to a double room with two queens. But the answer was that they did not have one.A few minutes later we were told that they had one, but they would have to charge us $220 a day for the switching. Really? We ended up sleeping uncomfortable for three days. The worst part is that we got bitten by bed bugs.Unbelievable! A weekend to forget an hotel to remember...
First, let me say that the hotel room itself was fine, as were most of the staff. The breakfast looked better than it actually was, but acceptable. The reason for the 1 star rating is as follows: I needed to spend a week in Manhattan. As an Expedia rewards member, I found this hotel for under $200 a night, and decided to book it for two nights since I had never stayed there, and wanted to make sure it was as advertised and a reasonable walking distance from where I would be spending most of my days. When I received my confirmation by email a few minutes later, I realized they had only booked and charged me for one night. I immediately called the front desk, explained the error, and asked if they could make the correction. I was told that they would not be able to match the rate and that the rate had to be set through Expedia. I called Expedia, and THEY said they would have to call the hotel to get their permission to do so. The Hotel manager refused, and then Expedia informed that they could not add a night but would have to cancel my reservation ( at $200.00 / night ) and re-book it for 2 nights at $500 plus a night ! ( $1025 with tax, more than 5 times the advertised rate ) I asked the Expedia rep if she realized what she was asking me to do, got a moment of silence, then I refused, and kept the one night @$200.00, since they had already charged my credit card. I arrived at the Lobby and spoke with the manager. He said he was unable to help me since “rates are subject to change without notice.” I tried again the following morning, and would have been willing to accept some type of compromise, since we were already checked in. But there was absolutely no effort form management to even try to adjust the rate even though there was plenty of availability. The only response was “Sorry , our rates are subject to change.” I checked out and spent the rest of the week at a 4 star hotel 3 blocks away. It was like a classic “bait and switch scheme” which I would not have expected from a Hyatt Hotel. The next morning, while sitting at breakfast in my new hotel, I received an email from Hyatt, welcoming me to the “Hyatt Experience”. Really???
The look and field of the hotel is average, staff are friendly. Rooms can be slightly noisy if you are facing the streets and not up in floors 10 and above. The pluses of this hotel are the location near Herald Square and complimentary breakfast (which had all the basics and even fairly decent on some days depending on the menu). Overall, I wasnt wowed but I am satisfied that I stayed with this Hyatt for this business trip.
Very good stay. Stayed on the 26th floor right next to the terrace. Nice view of the ESB. Nice location. Close to Time Square and the subway. Free parking on the street on the weekends. Room was extra clean. Really great view of the city. Staff was super accommodating.
Fantastic staff, great location, we were there with family to celebrate my 50th birthday, so my wife had contacted the hotel in advance to see if we could have a room looking out on to the Empire state building. They did not disappoint, they also left a basket of goodies and a bottle of wine.
We had no place to stay after having a problem with Airbnb apartment ..at the front desk was a life saver Justin Burton. He is like an angel. He helped us to stay in this wonderful hotel ...if anybody needs a great place to stay please come here ... thx JustinHotel is very clean. Rooms comfortable with beautiful view from the window. And another thing......location, location, location!!!!!

2022-01-22Positive: The room, view and location were all great! The toiletries and shower were nice, breakfast was so good! the front desk is awesome, she gave me a great room/view for my birthday and helped me daily with directions/any questions I had. Negative: Only negative I have is that, there were some guests in the lobby sitting area without a mask on (hidden from the front desk view purposely Im sure) and a male front desk worker whos mask was never covering his nose.If staff gets lax guests will too.

2022-01-20The staff are really friendly. I dont speak English very well, but I was able to have a pleasant conversation with them. When I was in trouble, they were the best help. The property is clean and if you are lucky you can see the Empire State Building from the window. Also, the location of the hotel is superb. While staying here, we took a walk around tourist attractions such as Times Square and Central Park. If you are staying at this hotel when traveling to New York, you will be very happy. I will visit this hotel again. Breakfast is simple!

2022-05-26I stay here every month for work trips and absolutely love it. It is located very close to a large list of the city’s greatest attractions (and it’s in the best part of the city). The hotel itself is clean, well maintained, has all the amenities one could ask for, and it even has a rooftop with a direct view of the Empire State Building. Most importantly, the staff here are very kind and helpful. Malik at the front desk somehow remembered me despite how many people they care for on a daily basis and is incredibly kind and hospitable. Highly recommend this place!Dr. G

2022-04-14We stayed here Monday-Saturday and had a wonderful experience. The rooms are on the small side, but we didnt spend much time there, anyway! The location cannot be beat! Right in Herald Square, which on its own isnt remarkable, but its so close to transit to get anywhere you want to be. Its also a fantastic location to walk in any direction and get to many places within a 20 minute walk.I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast. Especially during covid, I expected some mediocre fruit and processed/packaged pastries. There was a great selection of hot options, cereal, oatmeal, toast/bagels, etc every day. The coffee wasnt awful. There were several different juices and grab-and-go items as well. The staff were always kind and available.Dont miss the terrace!!!!!

2022-04-23Fantastic hotel for visiting the Big Apple. Staff really lovely, facilities great and includes breakfast which set us up each morning for all the walking! Room was cleaned everyday. 10 minute walk from Penn station 34 St where we got the subway to and from JFK. Highly recommend it. Thanks again

2022-03-15Bed was comfortableWalk in shower very goodBreakfast wasnt has expected! Bagels you needed to toast as they were freezing cold, as were the boiled eggs. Only had breakfast here on day one then we ate better next at the bagel shop.Room service only change once in 6 nights and nothing was dusted.location is excellent. Would I stay here again, probably not. Ive stayed at the Hyatt at Grand Central before and would choose this one or another hotel company/name

2022-03-31Room was overall clean, great size, beautiful view at night. The safe wouldn’t work but that’s alright, and the breakfast was definitely not what we expected. We expected cooked meals, not frozen microwave meals. Overall was a good stay and walking distance!

2022-05-10Positive: The location was amazing, a subway stop was just 2 blocks away. The room was so nice and big for a NYC hotel. I couldn¿t even hear the traffic outside. Breakfast was great too. Negative: The elevators were a big slow and if housekeeping was using them, you could end up waiting a while.

2022-06-01Positive: Very clean and tidy. Staff were constantly cleaning and keeping things orderly. Breakfast offerings were fairly basic (eggs, sausages, toast, oatmeal...) but fine. The guestroom was nice, with a comfortable bed, fridge/coffee maker, good shower pressure. Negative: Elevators were generally adequate but since there were just two of them, you could be waiting awhile during peak times. Once I waited 10 minutes for one and it never came so I took the stairs.

2022-06-05Positive: The complimentary breakfast!! Such a great way to start our morning each day. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. They all went above and beyond. Front desk, breakfast room and housekeeping were all fantastic. Great place to stay! Negative: We enjoyed all of our stay.
