Iberostar 70 Park Avenue in New York
Pros: Good location, friendly staffCons: Small rooms, very narrow walls between rooms( can hear conversation from adjacent rooms) people slam the walls if they feel disturbed, 2 bottles of water no matter how many days you stay, room service fee of $25 every day, very old rooms with tiny bathrooms, lift doesn’t move until the room key is used( annoying to use it every time), shower gel, hand soap , shampoo are permanently fixed to wall like in cheap hotels, definitely not worth of $200+ per night for sure.
It is located in near midtown. No breakfast service but you can crawl to brunch shops like TableTime, Le Pain Quotidien, Pershing Sq... You can also walk to Empire State Building, K-town, and Times Square. All the staff are very kind and its hard to find accommodation at this price in central Manhattan. It would be noisy if you catch it near Times Square or tourist attractions, but it was very quiet here and the view is satisfactory. The hotel is clean as well. If I visit New York again next time, I think Ill make a reservation at this hotel. Five stars!
Hello, I dont usually post reviews -- but just needed to say something -- I would be very nervous about staying at this hotel. I tried to book several rooms for 3 days. The phone system keeps going into voice mail cant get to the front desk probably very understaffed. The restaurants seem to be closed. If they cant get a reservation right, what will the rest of the stay be like? We wanted to stay there because of the location. I tried the 800 number but couldnt answer questions about the hotel. I would pick somewhere else.
DO NOT RECOMMEND. A few months ago I booked a stay at this hotel through my family’s Iberostar The Club membership (timeshare). I’m traveling to NYC next week for my stay and just received a strange email that the hotel is closed with no additional detail. I’ve tried contacting them but impossible to reach anyone at Iberostar about it. Nobody answers this hotel’s direct phone number. I’m still trying to figure out what’s going on and if/when I’ll get my refund. I advise avoiding this company/hotel.
Our favorite hotel when in NYC. Its close to everything....Grand Central, 5th Avenue, Times Square, Central Park you name it. Rooms are very comfortable and the bar downstairs is a great place for a night cap! 5 Stars is warranted as it gives you everything you could want, and more for a reasonable price in NYC.
Highly recommended. We arrived for an early check-in and were not only accommodated but upgraded to a king suite. The location is superb, and the room was excellent, the bed particularly comfortable. The only complaint was that the cold tap on the sink barely worked (just a dribble, but enough). Staff were friendly and efficient. Very much enjoyed our stay!
You cannot find a better location than this hotel! Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are nice (if a little small for full occupancy, having only one wardrobe as storage for four people) very well cleaned and stocked with towels and toiletries. Comfortable beds afforded a good nights sleep with full air-conditioning in all the rooms. The prime test is would we go back and stay here again? Yes! In a heartbeat!
Very nice hotel near Grand Central. Staff was pleasant for check and check out and they had a concierge for questions should you need anything. Best of all, no lame resort charges. Internet included in the room rate which was very reasonable. Roughly a 15 minute from Penn Station and a 5 minute walk to Grand Central. Would return.
Wonderful experience in a fantastic hotel. Cleanliness, order, equipped with all services and located in a central and very beautiful area.Friendly, helpful, extremely kind staff, they make you feel like youre at home.Melissa, Evelyn and Julio all wonderful people.Jesse, a very good guy now has became a dear friend. And Melanie: the sweetness in person, with whom in a very short time a special friendship was established, with whom we will remain in contact and that we will miss so much.
Four star hotel, FIVE STAR staff. Great place -- the staff is friendly, welcoming, cheerful and attentive. Doorman recognized us when we got back and ask us how our night was, remembered our plans and was generally interested in how we enjoyed Yankee Stadium. I would stay there again, especially for the price. Great value in a convenient location.
A jewel just steps away from Grand Central Station. All of the staff here are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The view from my room was breathtakingly beautiful. Ive never stayed in a hotel here that had a room with such a wonderful balcony. Ill definitely be staying here for my future stays in the city!
The staff in the hotel are very helpful and friendly. The hotel staff is incredibly professional. Hotel strategically located with easy access to train. I think the amazing part of the hotel is the executive lounge. Staff are great. Wine hour at 5pm is fun. Would definately stay hear again thanks very much.
Lovely room, nicely air-conditioned, and very clean. The location is ideal, very close to Grand Central Station and only a 10 minute walk to Times Square and the Empire State building. The staff are lovely, and always happy to help. They can organise a shuttle to the airport if you book with more than 24 hours notice. There is no restaurant, but there is a Starbucks for breakfast within 2 minutes walk. Very happy with our stay, and I think great value for money.
I booked online through another provider (I believe it was Secret Escapes). I had booked a room specifically that had a nice bathtub (Jacuzzi esque) in the description and when we arrived, there was something wrong with the tub and it was in the midst of repairs. The staff was wonderful and inviting, and made sure that we were comfortable as we waited to check in. Once we had checked in, we were offered a bottle of wine for the room. The room itself was impeccably clean, and was beautifully decorated. We happened to have a room with a patio, and were able to get some unbelievable pictures of the NYC skyline. I highly recommend, and intend to come back one day for our next special event!
The location of this hotel is great. Its right next to Pershing Square and if youre a keen walker like me is great giving you an ability to walk to loads of the attractions and stores. The staff are really friendly and accommodating! The only thing is there is no coffee facilities or breakfast but this just encourages you to explore. The rooms are small as its a boutique hotel so best for a short stay - would recommend though for price and location!
The staff here was very nice (very, very nice!), but the prices were a bit high for my liking. Im guessing this is par for the course in NYC over pride parade weekend, though ($250 a night)! The rooms were clean. Mine had a nice layout and a comfy bed (although it was booked for 2 double beds through Priceline, and we got one bed, maybe a full or queen - I dont think this was the hotels fault). There was no breakfast or wine hour (this information pertains to the hotel previously here years ago, but still seems to pop up when I search online), but its all good. If you have the money, this place isnt bad!
Had a great stay and was close to where my conference center was. Room was smaller than I thought it would be, but really not a problem because it was just me staying there. Had I come with my Husband it may have been a little tighter of a fit, but thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Room was cozy and felt like an homey place to be rather than the ultra modern feel of most of the chain hotels in the vicinity. I accidentally came in speaking too loudly on the phone one night (my ears never popped clear from my flight in) and my neighbor banged on the wall, so I guess they were thinner than I realized. Would definitely return if available on our next trip.
I stayed for 15 nights.. Room 807 had mice and I requested to be moved to another room.. After having refused 1107 because of its smaller size I was given 507 which was far too noisy..Housekeeping was too loud from 7.00 am which kept me awake...The carpet was smelly and the wooden flooring under the carpet made too much noise while walking on it...The entire hotel needs a good renovation on the inside and goodmaintenance..I would think twice before I return to it!Good point the flavored water provided by the entrance of the hotel and of course the hotels good location...
Small rooms but very clean and nicely put together. Bathroom are tight but very nice. Good hot water and shower pressure. Comfortable beds. Stayed on the 12th floor room was quite. Nice contemporary lobby. Grand Central Station Is two blocks down and empire state building is a couple blocks away. Staff was very professional and friendly. Very happy with are stay.
The facilities are nice, the rooms are exactly what youd expect. The gym could use some TVs. The staff is the shining star here, as theyve been incredible to deal with. Ive had nothing but pleasant experiences with Melissa, Melanie, and Howard, whove gotten me everything I need and more during my stay. Also the hotel doesn’t have coffee. What?
Great location less than five minutes walk to Grand Central at the same time few blocks to community commercial area full of interesting small restaurants, food shops, and stores. Staffs are super nice and very helpful. Tasteful modern classic decorated spacious room. The room is almost five stars hotel feel. Definitely better than 95% New York s four stars hotels.
I stayed here in February during my first solo trip to NYC. The staff were amazing and so polite & helpful. I requested a room on a high floor with a view of the Empire State months in advance and that is exactly what I got! The room was really comfortable and I loved that I could stream Netflix through my phone onto the TV. There was an issue with the bathtub not draining but the housekeeping sorted this out straight away, I didn’t even have to ask. On Google Maps it does say this hotel has a restaurant & cocktail bar but it didn’t when I was there...not sure if it does now? But it didn’t really make a difference to my stay as I had everything I needed in my room and there are lots of places to eat nearby. Grand Central has a great food court! And there are some great coffee shops around too. The location is amazing! I was also able to extend my checkout until late because my flight wasn’t until much later and I was so exhausted. I was so grateful for that! I’m coming back for a 2nd trip next Feb and I’ll most likely be booking this hotel again.
This is a small boutique hotel. The check in process was good. The staff were very friendly. Rooms are small but corresponded with the price. Bathroom small, not much counter space. Very quiet, no street noise or other hotel guest noise. Quieter neighborhood near Grand Central station.
Location was good. Wasnt super clean and had a few minor issues with the room. However staff were happy to help fix these. Also cleaners closet and stairs was outside our room and they were very noisy from early morning. Had a gym which was a plus. Also no tea or coffee facilities in room worth noting.
I will quote another poster, a jewel in the heart of the city. Not a high class hotel for the rich and famous, but a great hotel with great staff in a fantastic location. Rooms, lobby and hallways were clean. Super close to Central Station and Times Square. Had a bad situation with some people in the room next to us and casually mentioned it to the front desk and they took it very seriously. Was very impressed. Special thanks to Michelle at the front desk and Rachel in guest services, you made our trip to NYC an awesome memory, thank you very much! Highly recommend this hotel!
WOW!! First, let me say the staff here are top notch. You can forgive a lot of things when the customer service is amazing. That being said, theres nothing that needs forgiving, this place is awesome. Its not only a fantastic location (like 4 blocks to Grand Central Station and Chrysler building) but also a super cozy and clean hotel. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by the doorman who valeted my car at 3:30am. Yes, even at 3:30am (my flight was delayed!). The two gentlemen at the front desk said hello right away and got me my room quickly. My room had a Queen size bed, desk, chair, 2 night stands, full wardrobe and en suite bathroom. There was an iron + board, hair dryer, smart TV and phone. They have free wifi and room service via a menu that you can text in your order. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. The shower was always hot and the shampoo and conditioner smelled amazing. They are also a green company so no mini individual shampoo bottles and no small plastic containers. I enjoy this and I also tend to keep my towels for the stay and I dont want my sheets changed for 3 nights. Thats an option here. I stayed here for 3 nights and I will stay here again when visiting NY.
Excellent hotel! We got good deal for 6 nights on Priceline and spent lovely time here. Staff are extremely nice, bring us a kettle for free. The room is small but tidy. Good location just near the grand central but quite. The bed and pillows were ver comfortable. The shampoo and conditioner are high quality made in the UK. We tried the gym once which was fully functional! recommended!
Room provided necessities and cleanliness. Staff was polite but I had an overnight work schedule, requested a late checkout, and the maid entered my room at 9am while I was still sleeping. Nothing but a prompted apology was offered by the front desk. Im truly not pleased with the experience.
I booked this room for Valentines Day for 4 nights it was absolutely lovely! The room was nice and Spacious mirrors on every wall! I loved the royal colors and the Egyptian cotton sheets felt so nice! The staff was so nice I will definitely stay there again I absolutely love the This hotel and they are pet friendly!
We stayed 4 nights after I won a trip to New York for work, so note this is the only new York hotel Ive ever stayed in. It was alright, but had its moments... First theidge was locked behind a door and they had to come up and give us a key for it, and its probably the smallest fridge Ive ever seen! We opened it and it was completely stocked with drinks, and, while that might be nice for some people, we wanted to actually use the fridge so we asked them to empty it for us. Which they did and were pleasant about doing. The first night I threw away an empty gift card, some receipts, and the plastic wrap that was around a piece of DELICIOUS new York cheesecake. Well the next day we came back in the afternoon and all that trash was emptied and put on my companions bed!? We put it back in the bin but complained to the hotel who took it seriously and told us the next day they had talked to the staff responsible and resolved it. Didnt offer anything as a sorry, not very good customer service. Also no bath surface grip, almost slipped in the shower! Otherwise it was a decent enough experience.
Located next to the train station. Really nice equipment in the room. The location is just a short walk from Grand Central Terminal. Rooms cleaned every day. Leidy and Evelyn who work the front desk are the best. Price was very reasonable for all you got. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that visits New York.
Great location and friendly staff! We paid $178 on a Saturday night and the rate went down to $109 on a Sunday night. They held our bags when we came too early for check in.Room was really nice. Bathroom was small but functional with a cute rubber ducky on the shelf. Also, loved the jar of candy in the room. All those little details were fun and unique. The hotel was pretty quiet - we didnt hear anyone in the other rooms. Free WiFi, 1 block from Union Square, clean room!Overall excellent value!
This is an outstanding hotel with a great location. We have stayed there for the last three years visiting Manhattan and will do so again this year. Two points to be mindful of---dont expect an early check-in--3:00 pm is most likely so plan accordingly; the building is old--this is Park Ave. property and it looks and feels historic, but the rooms are well done. The staff are wonderful and you will totally enjoy your stay.
This was my first stay in this kind of hotel. The staff couldnt have been nicer and more generous. The hotel remained spotless the entire time there. All in all a good hotel in a good location with great transport connections. You definitely will get your monies worth by staying here.
I should have checked the site more closely and called, not looked at past reviews. There is no wine hour any longer. The lobby is small, just a lobby. If traveling for work/group and want to meet in lobby before or after dinner for a drink or to wait on folks it isn’t ideal. The staff is super nice though! I also recommend to double check if your room is next to one that has a pet. I had a barker and missed their family, and let you know!
Clean rooms with great showers although a little on the small side dont let this put you off. Its right near grand central station and a short walk from times square and other attractions. You have the option of water and snacks in the room but no prices so likely to be expensive. There are no facilities for hot drinks in the rooms.
I had a typical discount hotel experience here. No luxury amenities, very basic gym w/ 20lb dumbbells and ancient cardio machines. Bathroom sliding door that would not close. Clean room. Good housekeeping and bell men. This would warrant at least a 4 star review, had the front desk hit me with a package receiving fee which i was never aware of. $5 to bring a package to your room? Absurd. Iberostar, be transparent. Either tell your customers what youre charging them or dont charge them. Not coming back.
Super friendly staff !! We stayed here on July 11th. 2018 I cannot say enough about how amazing this hotel is. The staff was so nice and friendly. It was my daughters 16 th bday and I had briefly mentioned that when I booked the hotel and they surprised her with balloons a card and cupcakes she felt so special. The room was very clean which is very important to me! The hotel was so quiet I didn’t hear anything no traffic no slamming doors no talking it was very nice ! The valet and door guys were very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this hotel. Only complaint is no coffee in room or downstairs. Otherwise perfect location perfect hotel !!
Rooms are on the smaller size, but you have to expect that in NYC.Everything was clean and tidy. The housekeeping was very efficient and friendly. My biggest complaint is with the valet parking. Beware: The price on the website only applies to small cars. My CR-V was categorized as a large SUV and I had to pay almost 50% more during my stay.
Good hotel. Clean and well maintained. There are a few signs of wear and tear but nothing crazy. The Wifi was a bit scary as they have an open network for you to use. That seemed a bit arcane for a four star hotel. Other than that it was great. Shower strong, bed soft, staff friendly. I would consider staying here again if they fixed the wifi issue.
During a recent stay nearing the holidays, we enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The hotel is on the older side but feels modern. The staff was kind, but struggled to keep up with the busy season. The room we stayed in was good with nice views, but the bathroom was very cramped and the shower was barely over room temperature.
Just two things I liked. The location of the hotel and the friendly staff. The hotel itself was just OK, very small room, me at 63 had to enter the bathroom on a side, shower head had some rust, lights in the bathroom had rust and dusty. For $1200 for 4 night I expected a litlle more. Would not stay there again.
The hotel and rooms definitely need to be updated. At first glance it looks up to date but upon further review it is deteriorating. Sheets were pilly, bathroom smelled moldy and fixtures had rust. Used the sink and the shower and both backed up and wouldn’t drain. Only one person during our stay was able to bathe. The room service employee came to the room a total of three times within a span of ten minutes in the early morning - each time opening up the door to check in the room. The only plus about this hotel was that it had a working air conditioner. I wouldn’t stay here again nor recommend it to another person.
This place has really gone down hill. The service is horrible and the rooms are really starting to look worn out. The deal breaker for me was being told that the room I had booked was unavailable and that my first night I would be in a room with a “fold out” and then the second night I would be given a suite. I was handed a bottle of wine and sent up to the top floor. Turns out, I had been given the living room of a suite that was also occupied by other guests! There were doors separating the bedroom but I could see right through the crack in the doors and I’m sure the other guests could too! There was no deadbolt on these doors and it appeared as though a credit card might easily trip the latch. Definitely didn’t feel secure. On top of that, the fold out bed was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been on.I called the front desk and told them I paid for a bed and expected one, otherwise I would sleep on a friend’s sofa for free. They reluctantly told me to come to the desk and they would give me a bed. I went down, and was totally polite. I joked that I’d really rather have a bed than a bottle of wine, and they said - no problem, we understand, keep the wine. I set it down on the desk and when they were making my new keys, one of the clerks took the bottle of wine away! Literally the most awkward hotel experience ever. Finally got to my new room to find a double bed (not even a queen, and a TV at a 90 degree angle). I’d specifically booked this place because I had a much nicer room before. Hotel Tonight asked the hotel for a refund and they refused! Fortunately HT gave me a credit so I could rebook at a proper hotel. The behavior at Iberostar was unprofessional and unethical. They were oversold and absolutely should issue a full refund to Hotel Tonight. (For the record I booked on HT a week and a half in advance, so no excuses for a last minute mistake.)NYC has so many other hotels at this price point that offer better service and accommodation. Iberostar really needs to do better.
Despite the renovation and improvements, this hotel has bigger deeper problems. Bathroom plumbing had multiple issues, and while manager was helpful she refunded only one of three nights for the problem, wish didnt quite do the trick in our opinion, given the unsanitary condition experienced.
We booked through hotwire. Great deal. The hotel had a nice location for us. The rooms were clean and fairly modern. They gave us a free upgrade to a king size bed when we checked in. The walls were a little thin (could hear sounds from the neighbouring closet, but nothing from the tv or bedroom). Only stayed one night and didnt get room service or cleaning. Shower had good water pressure and temperature. Would certainly stay again.
You cant beat the location, its a few blocks away from Grand Central Station. This is a clean, but unremarkable hotel with very few amenities/services. No bar, coffee shop or restaurant adjoining. Staff is pretty cold, no real flair for service. Mini bar was locked but we got charged for a drink from it anyways. Dealing with management on a fairly simple issue was much more stressful and unfriendly than it needed to be. If you can get in cheap, go for it, but dont expect a 4 or 5 star experience.
Great hotel in a great position right by the empire state building. Rooms in good condition apart from squeaky floor and having to run the hot water for a long time but nothing major.Shame theres no kettle in the room only cold drinks. Coffee machine can be hired from reception at an extra cost but coffee pods are expensive from local shops. Its a small thing but its nice to have a cup of tea or coffee when returning to your room.
My husband and I booked this hotel back in February for 3 days starting today. I called to ask if we can check in early sense our flight landed at 10:00 am they said yes which was very convenient. When we arrived we met the front desk rep Melanie who was extremely amazing from the moment we walked into the door. She was happy to provide us with helpful information about the area. She noticed that we are traveling with our 6 year old son and she offered to upgrade our room making our stay even more comfortable. The room is clean and very modern. If you come to NY for vacation or business I would suggest you chose Iberostar Hotel!!!! THANKS MELANIE!!!
Nice hotel, nice location, employees were accommodating, and the free water and ice machine was everything. The hotel is located close to the central station and many other places. Our room was on the 14th floor and we had nice view of the city and the Empire State building from the bathroom. I wish we couldve been able to adjust the blinds that were in between the glass so that we had more of a view. We originally booked a double size bed but we were able to upgrade to a queen size room with no problem. The room itself was modern and clean but smaller than what I had imagined (but lets remember this is NYC & many people live here). Service was prompt and we never felt ignored or treated less than other guests. I would love to stay here again if Im ever back in NYC.
Rooms are really smalls, and the configuration of them is bad. We had a view of a dirty brick wall, but we asked to change for another room and they didit rapidly. Rooms are clean, but the bed is quite unconfortable. Staff is really kind. A bit expensive for the quality of the hotel.
I can honestly say this was the best hotel I have stayed at in NYC. I got to the hotel at 10am and my room was ready, they let me check in right away instead of making me wait until the 3pm check in time. The customer service was excellent and very accomidating. The rooms were clean, modern and perfectly sized. I loved the location as well. I cant wait to come back in November!
Lovely Boutique Hotel Centrally Located... Fast and friendly check-in. Clean and modern room. Although water pressure in the shower is on the low side. Centrally located to many attractions, restaurants. 5 min walk to Grand Central Station. Will definitely recommend this place and come back. 🙋👍
Been coming here once or twice a year for the past 5 years. The front desk lady has been there every time I check in and makes me feel welcome. The man in charge of storing luggage - same thinkg, always the same person. This shows management cares about their staff. The rooms are stylishly decorated - in a way that brings a smile to your face. The expereince always exceeds my expectations. They even have a room with a wonderful balcony and terrific view of the skyline. Looking forward to my return to this jewel of Wednesday. Keep up the good work - team Iberostar - you are stars amongst many hotels.
My husband and I are big fans of Kimpton hotels. The service is always friendly, the amenities are always great, the beds are always super comfortable, and the bathrooms are the best! Please note that they usually offer free coffee/tea in the morning and host a small wine reception in the evening. They are also pet friendly.
From the first moment we set foot in new York to the first moment we set foot in the iberostar park avenue my wife and I were astounded by how wonderful new York and our chosen hotel was. All the people there were so welcoming check in was doddle . The rooms were excellent we were even given an upgrade but on returning home we were charged for it.all the staff were friendly curtious and easy to talk to. We would recommend iberostar park avenue to anyone who visit NYC not forgetting special thank you Very much to Ernie and Liedy hope you liked your flowers apologies to all the other staffwe didnt get your names but thank you all for making our stay so memorable Carolyn and Barry cooper Nuneaton England.Hopefully we will be able to have another holiday there.Highly recommend iberostar park avenue NYC
I arrived late at the hotel absolutely shattered after a delayed flight from Slovenia. The front desk staff -- Patricia and Wordell -- were more than helpful and gracious. They were altogether empathetic and restoring. I found them very special, and I hope the senior management will take note.
Staff great , decor and style nice and bed comfortable , but thats the good points Our basic room is small with tiny bath/bathroom Shower rail hanging off No extractor fan in there Wardrobe tiny , suitable for 2 nights not a week Found old pair of socks under a chair No coffee facilities , no cafe/restaurant, water in room at $10 a bottle Fittings hanging loose , view is a back yard ! I could go on but you get the drift !!
What this hotel has going for it is location. Very close to Grand Central station and walking distance from a lot of NY sites. Its clean and basic. Our room had an okay view, we could see the Empire State Building.A part from that, we left with an overall impression of meh. There was no ventilation in the washroom, so we had to open the window when we took a shower to get rid of the steam, which was not great in cold November weather. The pillows and comforter are synthetic and I was not comfortable at night (too hot).We encountered an administrative mistake when checking in. We had booked this hotel several months beforehand by buying a flight-and-hotel package, so our stay was prepaid. Upon check-in, they billed our credit card for the nights we were staying. We only noticed two days later, and it took a few times back and forth with the front desk and management to get a refund (really, a pain in the butt).Upon check-out, we learned that we had also been mistakenly charged for morning coffee which was supposedly complementary (the front-desk guy ended up waving the 4$ charge). My guess is that they have a lot of shortcomings on the management and admin side of things and, in the long run, this will end up showing on the quality of the hotel stay.
I had a brand new shirt, right out of the package, ruined by the rooms iron. I was trying to steam iron my shirt when a blob of some dark substance, probably mold, shot out of the bottom the iron. I brought it to the attention of the front desk and they gave me the card of the front desk manager. I sent two emails, no reply and then went to the website to complain. I received an email immediately from Iberostar (Park Ave., NYC) stating they would not compensate me because and I quote self-inflicted damage because of user error. Unbelievable. I ask for his supervisor and only found out it was the first person I sent 2 emails to previously. Insulting. The only thing self-inflicted is poor management and I will never use that hotel again.
If I can give no stars I would..............2 women and a baby banished to the cold winter....Awful experience. Manager asked me to leave and put me out because I asked about a complimentary wine and cheese that was apart of my stay. He put me and my daughter and my granddaughter who is 11 months old out of the hotel and we had booked a 4 day stay. Terrible customer service.Because I used profanity he said I wasnt allowed to stay....and threatened to call the police because I said he should honor his advertisement. Instead he said we no longer offer that service and I dont care if you did see it. Said he would call the police on two women and a baby if I didnt leave by noon. I checked in at 11 am. Very poor customer service.
Small room, smaller than a master bedroom. Mini fridge too small no space for your own snacks. They charge for everything single thing, 8 dollars for a stupid water. They give me the room with the roll-in shower but has no additional bathtub. The room only has controls for Air conditioning but when I got cold the only offered an additional comforter and to let the room go to room temperature. The television is smalls with basic cable and not couch or comfy chair. My king size bed takes up the whole room basically and the bathroom is the size of a small/med walk-in closet. No microwave! No Tub! Ugly cheetah print cheap robe with no logo!
Booked via express deal on Priceline for an anniversary trip, but had an unexpected death in the family. Priceline agreed to cancel the trip, and said they just needed to get the hotel to agree to cancel as well. The manager refused to cancel. So now weve lost a loved one, and we have to pay $1,000 for a hotel we cant stay in. I dont know how the rooms are, but I do know how the management is. Very disappointing.
Normally I would have given 4,5 points... But the person responsable for the luggage depot (Asian), was highly unpolite by saying 10 times ´Thank you so much, thank you so much.... but in a sarcastic way...´... Are we obliged to give a tip? For what? Maintaining our luggage untill we can leave? What part of extra service did YOU deliver? We are guests for 5 night in a hotel (in which 2 disturbd by very very noisy neighbours in the room... making noise at night from 2 o clock untill 4 o clock... having a private party)... And then this responsable from the luggage depot is really, really unpolite against paying clients? We´ve been visiting Manhattan more then 8 times... we´ve been client of Iberostar in several other countries (and the end of the month again in an Iberostar, one week in another country)... and despite of the more then correct management, this luggage guy, will make us never to book again in Iberostar New York... What an end of a nice holiday. Thank you so much luggage guy!!!
Staff was pleasant. When the parking attendant couldnt find our car for 2 hours he told us our parking would be compensated, WOW I thought this is a place that really puts its customers first and wanted to make sure our experience was as good as it could be but after a week the charges remained on our card. I called and spoke to some one who said at best he would give us one of our two days of parking back but as of 1/3/2017 nothing has been done. We also had some room charges that they cannot tell us what they are for other than mini bar even though we did not have any keys for them them. My suggestion is to make sure you use a credit card you can dispute rather than a debit card. Not happy! Wont be back.
Do not stay at this hotel!!! - they will overcharge you and never remove the bogus charges. After checking out with a zero balance (according to us and the Iberostar staff), we have spent the past month trying to get a $700 erroneous charge removed. After a dozen calls with the ‘manager’ they removed the bogus charge (finally!) - only to have the same charge reappear a week later on the same credit card!!! Their managers are not able to correct this simple error and they are completely unprofessional. They are scammers who will overcharge you - do not stay here. The tremendous headache is not worth it! Needless to stay, we will never stay here again - and you shouldn’t either. Save yourself trouble and stay at a professionally managed hotel.Update 27-Nov-2018: the erroneous charge has been removed. I hope it never returns.
Great location a few blocks from Grand Central (GCT). Queen deluxe room with a comfortable bed was spacious with a not overly large bathroom but still very nice. Quietist hotel Ive been in in a long time. Staff was accommodating allowing check-in @ 9:30am and helpful and pleasant throughout our stay. Didnt have a view but didnt mind we got a great rate thru Travelzoo. No restaurant or bar but we didnt need one on this occasion, Starbucks a block away (when isnt there one though). Loved it especially if youre using GCT for transportation. Looked like you could probably find some street parking on weekends. A great choice in this area.
Horrible. Me and my husband went to Montego Bay and STAYED at the Rose Hall Beach. This was the worst experience. No customer service representative knew their job. Money was missing out of our room. And when we went to check in at 3 our room wasnt ready until almost 5. I WOULD NEVER STAY AT AN IBERSTAR HOTEL AGAIN
The room we were given was dingy, partially uncleaned and had more mold and water damage in the bathroom than Ive ever experienced in a hotel room. The windows were unable to be opened due to a plexiglas sheet being put over the entire window and sill. I asked the front desk to change rooms and they obliged. Housekeeping was pounding on the door before I even got back to the original room to get my bags. After being harassed to get out (we had to grab our things before going to the replacement room you see). We arrive at the second room, one floor higher than the original disaster. Window opens this time, all the way. And has a view of construction debris and barbed wire.A/C unit was filthy (hidden by a wooden decorative cover) and didnt work. Wed crank the a/c and come back to an 85 degree room because the heater kicked on.The bathroom had slightly less ick factor than the first room, but was still in my top 3 grossest hotel bathrooms. Beds were on broken frames with metal hanging out the side but were reasonably comfortable. Considering the $280 price tag and $88 hostel quality, totally NOT worth it. I would adamantly recommend finding another hotel.Side note, they still have a hold on my credit card (I had no incidental charges during my stay and it was prepaid) almost a month after my stay.
I had a birthday discount I needed to use through my Kimpton InTouch and decided to use it here. The lobby was welcoming with areas to relax and read and fruit infused water and tea to help beat the summer heat. Also loved the photobooth at the front desk when we were checking in. Although a little small the rooms were nice and I enjoyed the decor and how comfortable the beds were. Also the location made it pretty walkable and it was easy to catch a cab and get anywhere with ease.
My empty luggage was taken from my room by a housekeeping employee who thought the guest had checked out. She had taken my bag home so I didnt have it for my return trip home. The manager assured me they would overnight my belongings to my home, but didnt. I asked the manager if it was common practice for employees to remove items (steal) from guest rooms and take them home. He said it wasnt and apologized for any inconvenience.
Shady business practices! Stay away at all costs! Upon check in super late after a long day of traveling, I discovered the room I booked was not available and the only option was a room with a pull out couch. There was no bed! (See photos) I went downstairs immediately to complain and was told by the manager Luis there was a glitch in the system and it was the 3rd party bookings fault, but they can upgrade me for the next two nights. I call Priceline and found out they oversold the hotel and thats why they gave us the pull out couch and was only able to negotiate a 25% discount for the first night. This was 2am and I just wanted to get some sleep, not to deal with this! I was going to try and make the best of the situation. The pull out couch was slanted and the room was loud. I got zero sleep, so I went and complained to the manager Alfred the next day. He said he couldnt do anything to help me and I had to talk to the other manager Luis. He said he would leave a message with Luis, but I never got a call from him. I come to find out that this room is called the parlor and its actually the living room of the presidential suite! So its not an actual room! They wouldnt give me a refund for my first night.I booked this hotel 2 months in advance, so the fact that they lied about their mess up shows they dont care about their customers. I had to call Priceline! Why stay here when they can mess up your reservation at anytime and lie about it? And then pretend like theyre doing you a huge favor by upgrading your room (which isnt better anyway, besides having an actual bed). Unbelievable! Take your money where you will be treated right.
1. Nice staff2. Hot water takes 7 minutes to kick on3. No coffee bar as advertised, or breakfast or bar in general4. Small bathrooms and rooms.5. They upgraded us to king room, but so small, would hate to see non king room.6. They failed to provide all our bags when asked, so I went to bag room to grab them myself, we were heading to the airport when it dawned on me they never gave me the other bag and when I turned around to go get it amd arrived they all said oh yah we noticed you left it but they failed to call or contact us.7. Overall it was a room. View wasnt anything to write home about.8. Friendly and timely staff.
This hotel was really great. The staff was very kind and helpful and the location was perfect for going uptown or downtown by metro and close enough to walk to Times Square, the Empire State Building, and Bryant Park. When I go back to New York, I will definitely be staying here again!
Were from orlando and I stayed at this hotel from Nov 10th-13th. My son earned the trip and choose to go to NYC. While in NYC we stayed at the Iberostar. Every night the room was so hot we had to sleep in only our underwear and still woke in puddles of sweats while the high was 38 outside. I inform the front desk who sent up maintenance. The maintenance guy changed the batteries then inform me that during the winter they only run the hot. I asked if it could be cut off completely and was told they are upgrading and retrofitting the entire hotel. I complained to the manager who offered me and bottle of champagne (for my boys (4 and 8) and I) along with a $15 credit to the bar (water is $10 alone). Do not stay at this hotel unless you love the heat...desert heat!!!! Oh the rooms are very very small.
While staying for 3 nights at this hotel there was a constant order of marijuana in the hallway. The room was small and the bathroom smaller. The biggest issue was the night manager promised to contact me regarding a double charge for parking. He never called. I called the parking lot manager and left a message for him to call me back. He never did. Customer service was sub par.
Awful customer service. Made a reservation and after reading some reviews as well as my partners previous experience staying there I wanted to make sure that we wouldnt get one of the bad guest rooms as some I hear are horrible and others really nice. After talking to a customer service rep at the hotel, name which I will not disclose, he was abrupt, defensive, interrupted me over the phone several times and insisted more than once for me to stay somewhere else. Yes, he suggested I should look somewhere else as we had started on the wrong foot and they wouldnt be able to make my experience enjoyable. I couldnt believe it as Im a BIG Kimpton fan and have stayed with them for over 7 years, being a Kimpton Karma Rewards member. Its a shame this incident happened and immediately cancelled the reservation online and booked the Eventi, which is usually where we stay in NYC and love the property, you can see my review on that hotel as well. Hope Kimpton Hotels addresses this issue as by reading online Im not the only one with a bad experience. Excited now about going back to Eventi!
Unfortunately for me I dont get to visit NY a lot for personal travel but Im there fairly frequently for business. The location is great, walking distance to all the major tourist areas. Staff very friendly help us out on a few occasion. Thank you to the entire staff.
I booked one night at this hotel through Frontier Airlines and when my flight was cancelled I had to rebook. I was told that I would need to pay an extra $30 due to a rate difference, even though Frontier was unable to get me where I needed to be. Dirty, dusty, weirdly gross, hardly respectable, pictures speak for themselves
Great location, staff, price, and room! The only reason I did not give it a 5 was because I could hear every time the staff would take stuff out of a storage room right in front of mine and the bed pretty hard (woke up with a backache). That being said, I would definitely use them again!

2022-04-13Pros:- Great location- Outstanding customer service. I have never been to a hotel that had this kind of friendly service, and they should be applauded- Gym was excellent- The blackout curtains were terrific and helped with the sleep- I had to move things around for my sanity, and the maids didnt put them back, which was a massive thing for me (see comment below about space). It helped coming back from a long day exploring and not having to reconfigure things, and it made it feel like I had my own space to call homeCons:- We knew the room would be small but didnt mind since we were out a lot. However, there wasnt much storage to place our belongings for a week, and our washroom was also pretty tight to move around with two people. Being able to move things around helped.- There isnt really a business centre easily accessible. I had to hop on a Zoom meeting, and my partner was napping, so I thought I would explore and found a computer in the hall by the gym. Unfortunately, it wasnt great for privacy and a quiet place with lounge music in the background.- We couldnt believe the amount of noise in the morning! Were usually out late, so we sleep in before heading back out. From 8/9 a.m. - to 1 p.m., it sounded like a field trip of cleaners walking by our room with vacuums, a group discussing everything under the sun while banging the walls with whatever objects they had. This team did an excellent job cleaning, but holy smokes, the noise was real and I woke up a lot.

2022-04-18I love the hotel. Great location. Jessie and Ernst are without a doubt the gems of the hotel!I wish there was water available and a microwave or fridge in the room. Our room had a few issues with a wet dog smell that was quickly taken care of and an automatic door that was hard to close but overall it was great. 4/5 stars.

2022-05-30This is the place to stay! This place has the perfect location, perfect customer service and nice rooms (for NYC). We had a 3 night stay and I honestly have no complaints. If youre visiting NYC for the first time and would like a central location to move around the city with ease this is the place. It was my birthday and they were kind enough to leave a wine bottle, which is such a generous touch. For 2 people, the room is comfortable so if you have a larger group I suggest a larger room than a king sized room. The doormen were so kind, even offering us places to go eat. The staff incredible. I asked for towels and got them in seconds. This place is amazing. I can talk about it forever. With a 5 minute walk to grand central you can go anywhere from this place.Quite honestly the only thing I wish the room had was a coat rack, lol. This is the place I will, without a doubt, stay at every time Im in the city.

2022-06-21There’ a lot to live about The Iberostar hotel like the location, generous room size, and great dining near the hotel. Above all though, the best feature of this hotel is the service. Every staff member I’ve encountered was friendly and went beyond expectations. Jesse,In particular, deserves special designation as he was that helpful and friendly. Another reviewer called him a gem and I couldn’t agree more. One note though, if you’re looking for the flashiest, most up to date hotel this isn’t it. It’s very clean, the rooms are well appointed, but it needs updating in the hallways and common areas. If this isn’t important to you, Iberostar is your place! Great stay and terrific value!

2022-06-08We had a really nice stay at the hotel. Great location in proximity to the train, clean spacious room on the interior facing side per our request and nice staff. Our only complaint is no access to water. We were told on multiple occasions to use the drinking fountain or refill our water downstairs in the gym. We are all for sustainability, but from a customer service standpoint there could be a better option.Overall nice stay

2022-06-11Fantastic location, minutes from Grand Central Station and walking distance to a lot of the main attractions. Sound proof rooms, lovely comfy bed, Nice to return to after a hectic day of sightseeing! Would benefit from a kettle in the room and a bar area but only minor points. Lovely coffee shop Tartinery on the same row, well worth a visit. Would definitely stay here again if Im lucky enough to visit New York again in the future.

2022-06-08The great thing about this hotel is the location. As soon as you step out of the hotel, you turn to your left and voilà, you can see grand central terminal, which was only about three blocks away. It was my first time in New York and I’m super glad I chose to stay at this hotel! When I arrived it was getting close to midnight, I had lost my phone and after dealing with everything and getting a new phone, I just wanted to go to my hotel and sleep. It was a small hotel and I’m okay with that! It felt cozy, it was quiet, and cute. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. There was something wrong with my reservation however everything was straightened out. Next time I go to NYC I am definitely staying at Iberostar again. The staff made me feel special and during my stay they would ask me if I was having a good time and after my first horrible day, the next few days whenever the front desk and doormen saw me, they asked if my day was much better, etc. Thank you all for the wonderful stay I had.

2022-04-07Our stay at the Iberostar was excellent.Although we had a bit of a mix up with our room upon arrival, Ryan and Melissa ensured this was resolved immediately - placing us in the correct room within the hour, and kindly sent up a bottle of wine. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious - and the staff was incredibly friendly. Will definitely be back.

2022-06-26The staff is nice, but there’s no way this hotel is worth $350+ per night. Extremely small room, and just average everything. E.g., the shower gel is tied to the wall, similar to the extremely cheap hotels that you go.

2022-03-07I was in NYC for a weekend and enjoyed my stay here. Staff are extremely friendly and always ready to help. We had an issue with our reservation and they were so patient with us as we were trying to resolve it. Thank you to Lady, V, and Jesse (apologies if I misspelled names).Room itself was a nice size for 2 people, bathroom was small but considering you’re in the middle of manhattan, it was fine with us. Location was great! We also had a car with us and were able to find metered parking nearby pretty easily.
