IKEA in other cities:
I have been going to this store since IKEA came to Brooklyn. I loved IKEA restaurant and specially salmon with holiday sauce. I always enjoyed their free ferry ride to Manhattan and back in summertime. Ikea basically revamp this neighborhood to new heights. If one store can change your neighborhood then here is the example of IKEA Brooklyn. As far as quality of furniture is concerned and service, it is always everlasting and design is totally different than American made furniture. There is a wonderful park behind the IKEA which is not known to many but nice place to relax and jog during the summertime.
You cannot return anything without a receipt. The attendant said if you loose your receipt you need to know what was the purchase date or youre sh__ out of luck. A lot of there items still have that cheap quality look and feel. If you can afford a better quality store.....go to it instead. The restaurant is excellent 5 stars for the restaurant only.
It is your local IKEA. They run a free ferry from W39st, Battery park, and pier 11. The ferry ride is about 10 mins from pier 11 and goes across the statue of liberty. Ikea dining is always good. We had the vegetable balls. Many items are “out of stock,” if you see them online, order for pick up immediately.
Great spot to get inspired! Wandering through the store can be fun - but go when it is less crowded if you want to do so at a your own pace. Always interesting lighting options, and great kitchenware selection. Bargin hunters - dont miss the As-Is section near checkout to scoop up a great deal!
Great place to buy good and fairly priced furniture and home furnishings; the food at the café is yummy too.The downside is that it can be a bit inconvenient to get there, they used to have a shuttle service but it’s been suspended since 2020. There are always cabs right outside waiting so there’s that option too.
The 1 star rating is to hopefully capture attention on the ferry issue. Wish Ikea would handle that info to make sure it is correct. The ferry to Ikea had recently changed provider. The weekend free service started 3/19 and the new schd online does not match what isactually running. The info was provided by a 3rd party. The security at the pier was very nice to inform that the online info is not correct.Attached is a picture of the weekend schedules. Not sure if it is the same for the weekdays.Fyi, the ferry is free on the weekends and $5 on weekdays (no clarify if it is r/t). If you spent $10 at Ikea, you will get a credit back on the ride aka free. This can easily be done for getting a meal for 2.I personally find the fries at ikea is fantastic. I am already drooling thinking about it now.
Worth the drive 1hr from Elmhurst skipped the freeways. On the harbor and lots of parking. Also a ferry or water taxi, and multiple bus linesGreat place to hang out get ideas and dining is open again. Great good and inexpensive. Love Ikea anywhere, but on the waiter with views of The city and in Red Hook totally cool.
Great store for shopping everything for the home. But, many products are not in stock with delivery or pickup. We have recently moved and made a purchase order on the site. Half of the products are gone. Therefore, although the choice is large, but to equip the apartment as we want it is not yet possible. Hopefully it will change for the better in the near future.
The store is great - that is WAS great. Still a fun experience, but stock is reduced and lots of objects are out of stock or even oversold, areas of the showroom are closed to the public and the restaurant has about half of the usual options and only one flavor of soda. Waiting until restrictions are lifted to go back.
Always a refreshing experience walking through getting ideas of how to set up my place. Huge with a great selection of products. They change the rooms up every now and then which is pretty good of them. They have a clearance section. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A very busy place also. Definitely worth going to visit
They are still trying to get stock in of course with the worldwide struggle with supply chain issues, but still great selection and constantly updating their styles. The onside car service has left since the pandemic - gypsy car-vans are often around for about 45$ per trip.
The inventory is down and the place looks a little bit Tun down. Seems like it seen it’s better days but you can find great deals in the as is section by the checkout once you exit the marketplace to the right. There are good prices suited for every budget not only couches and big item furniture pieces. I always visit the restaurant with great floor to ceiling windows with great views of Red Hook Brooklyn. The food is also recommendable. I always stop by for the free cup of coffee with IKEA Family card. You always greeted with a smile and the staff is always friendly. Recently they are not as helpful or available for questions at this location. You might get a bit tired of walking this huge store nestled on the Brooklyn side of the East River. One of their flagship stores and the first to open in New York City. Always a good experience even if just to browse the different room displays. It’s a rite of passage if you live in Brooklyn or NYC to buy something from IKEA.
Ikea is a great concept with some great and some not so great (quality) products. But its always a great place to shop for your home. The issue is in the execution. Service, customer service, is unfortunately not their specialty. They like to claim that it is, but Im not sure how e.g. always long lines for returns fits in to that concept.Secondly, check the website before you come if the item you want is in stock. They have some wonderful products, but what use is it if so many of them are out of stock.
IKEA is generally a decent place, now featuring better than just serviceable furniture and household products. There has been a lot of improvement in quality, though there are some so-so items still around. Also noteworthy is that there are item shortages here and there, and that many items are made in China. As far as those shortages go though, there are other areas in the store that carry the same or very similar items; such was the case for some mounting hardware I needed, so looking around might well bear fruit. The cafeteria still features good food at reasonable prices, and the staff in all areas exhibits courtesy and efficiency.
Everything about this place is great except the checkouts. There are times Ive been there when the store was barely busy and there was still a half an hour line to pay. Its worse that any other Ikea Ive ever visited. Almost like they refuse to open more than three registers at a time, often less. It can turn a great time at Ikea into a nightmare.
IKEA supply is not meeting demand, most items are sold out, except for generic designs. I’ve been at a handful of different IKEAs for 6 times 🤮 in the past few weeks and here’s what I learned:- it gets super crowded on the weekends, even at opening hours, lunch time and afternoon are the worst.- they are understaffed, tired, but the team here is super nice and kind. Be specific about what you need, at least know the name of the product line and better if you know the article numbers.- if you’re returning items, have receipts ready and join the virtual line BEFORE you get there (if the wait time is long — which it usually is!). Most returned items will become trash and some will be placed in the as is area, sometimes even when theyre just out of the box.- check stock before you go: use the IKEA app, which is updated every few minutes, staff told me that website stock update lags behind a few hours.- make sure you read the assembly instructions before getting anything because sometimes they don’t have everything you need in the box and you might have to buy special screws etc.- if you can get delivery, do it online in advance because it might not be there once you travel there. If there is no pick up option, it means they sold out that day. Also, you cannot order delivery from ikea that are too far away from your zip code 🥲- if you’re in the warehouse, you can ask the people in yellow vest about restocking days, have your article numbers ready. Really wish that they publicize this info on their website instead!- for some special items that are not placed in the marketplace or the warehouse, you’ll need to go product information kiosk in warehouse to get a purchase order, pay at cashier, so that they can pick up for you. I recommend do this first before shopping, once done shopping you can pick up before leaving
Everyone has masks and it’s quieter than it was pre pandemic, but still busy. They have some massive stock issues so check before you go. The home delivery team downstairs can order some stuff and work out if an item is available but it takes ages. Staff are incredibly hard to find.
Ordered furniture online and requested for delivery. The original schedule day was Sunday. On Saturday afternoon, I also received a text message about the confirmed delivery date and time to be Sunday morning. However, on Sunday, they postponed the delivery to Monday! I have talked to them and the logistics, and the effort was useless. It is not Monday yet. I dont know whether I will really get my bed, my mattress and other stuff as stated in the new schedule...By the way, the delivery service is provided by North American Logistics. Since I cannot choose the logistic company, I think IKEA also deserve the 1-star.
The buying experience at IKEA has becoming a nightmare in the last couple of years. Most things are not in stock and even if the website says they are there’s a good chance they are not available when you get to the store.Customer Service is horrendous and overwhelmed. And to make bad even worse now their delivery services are terrible too. Flat rate delivery is backed up for several weeks and they try to get you to use task rabbit. They simply don’t care about their customers anymore.
This place has lost all its charm so fast. I have been in line for 2.5 hours now. They only have one cashier and they are using that cashier for their deliveries/pickups first before the ppl in store. The manager is the rudest person on earth too. Get it together Ikea!
I brought something and then during delivery was told the item was unavailable and I would have to wait weeks for it to be back. At the time of purchase I was not informed of the back order nor was I informed only part of my order was coming. Bad business, good customer service in resolving the issue. Would not buy from them again smh they can’t even update their stock correctly 😒
IKEA was so awesome ..started out in the cafe with some veggie meatballs and mash with gravy... when I got around to shopping they have so many great things for the house its amazing .. the staff was so nice and everybody was eager to help... today I scored a great deal on a foam twin mattress.. 132 bucks tax included.. it came nicely rolled up in a vacuumed bag.. the bus stops right in front ..I took it to the A train and was back in harlem in a breeze..
I will NEVER shop at IKEA again. We bought a childrens bed in December. We had 180 days to return it. While the bed was fine, life changes meant this piece of furniture would no longer fit our needs. According to THEIR OWN RETURN POLICY, we could arrange for a small fee to return the furniture and would get a full refund. We just had to get the bed to broken down enough to get it out of our door. Fine, we did that. On the Saturday of the scheduled pick up, it was cancelled without notice. My wife called and tried to arrange for them to still come and they refused. The customer service person told us they would call on Monday with a new window for pick up. No one ever called. She called again and was told it would be over the 180 days to return before someone could be scheduled to pick it up so our only option was to bring it in to the store. Fine, I broke it down further and put it all in the car. Drive it to IKEA, no one was available to help get it in the store. Fine, I put it on that little tiny cart thing and started moving it to the store. At the elevator, the ramp is not flush with the ground and the cart could not get over the bump causing everything to fall off damaging the drawers to the bed. I reloaded the tiny useless cart and got it upstairs to the disorganized process they have for returns. When they finally called me, I provided them with everything they said I needed for a refund and the manager refused because there was a crayon smudge and it was damaged because it had fallen off the cart in front of their elevator. I explained this and she refused so I walked away without the refund because it had been such a waste of time. I could have just junked the bed myself or sold it. I only went through all the time and hassle to do this because THEIR RETURN POLICY SAYS FULL REFUND IF RETURNED IN 180 DAYS. I will NEVER go back to IKEA. Their customer service does not know the store policy. Appointments are cancelled and there is no follow up. The in store employees are entirely useless and not helpful. There is zero reason for me to ever give this garbage company anymore of my money or time beyond leaving this review. As far as I am concerned, IKEA does not exist anymore.
I ordered a counter top last Thursday. They told me they would deliver it today and they did not. I even paid extra for them to deliver it from the store to speed up the process. I called and they told me someone is going to call me back and no one called me. Then I got a text its going to be delivered this Friday. That does not work for me. I told them I have have workers I pay everyday and its costing me money.
IKEA❤I Went alot of time there.Huge and classic , suitable to all, variety furniture.Home accessories.Kitchen utensils and essentials.Dinning rooms Bed rooms ,kids rooms ,what else you want guys😁Parking lots are so comfortable outside as well inside available.I highly recommed a must place to go and see🤗U select.buy.and bring home.just have to assemble it by yourself.
While visiting here I worked up a hunger. Boy was I surprised. They have a restaurant/ cafe with a modern lunch room type setting. They have vegetarian, Pescatarian & vegetarian options. The food didn’t taste like it came from a freezer, surprisingly. The flow is you walk up to the buffet/ serving area, you request you meal based on the menu, you pick that up, get your sides plus drinks & you take your trap filled with food and check out on the other side of the luncheon. I really like that the food is served in glass/ porcelain looking dishes that IKEA also has available for sale.I had a satisfying lunch here! You do have to wear your mask while shopping but you don’t have to while sitting & eating.Don’t be afraid to GO HERE!
Nothing is the same anymore and that includes Ikea, nothing in here is new or appealing.Everything is the same boring furniture, beds and appliances. The only thing that changed is the staff thats all!I am not saying other people may not like the products in this Ikea,I am saying as for me I rather drive to Ikea in New Jersey. This just my opinion!!The parking lot is scary as hell the lighting under the ramp is very dreary.😱😨😱😨
Horrible store. The employees there lie to your face! I called and asked to make sure if some furniture were in stock and they said yes. They even told me that they had some other things in stock. When I check the shelves, its all empty! They then tell me that itll be back in a few days and it will be available but it wasnt. They purposely get you to come back to buy more stuff.
This place is massive. I love walking around each section because of the different staging areas for each part of a home. Feel like being inspired? Dont hesitate to sit down, take pics to imagine these being in your place. The showroom is so large, that they added shortcuts to find the exits faster.
Today I stoped by at brooklyn Ikea store. When I went to make payment cashier forgot the pass 3 other items That was in my cart.when they call me as Sir I thought I forgot the items And she said to me You can not get things i did not pay.I said I thought I paid. She was working for an another customer and she said to me Ok go.I just wanted to make my shopping. But she was trying get me out of the cash line with her rude attaute.
Its Ikea what is there not to like if you cant find it an Ikea you cant find it anywhere. Also they have a wonderful place where you can sit down and have something to eat while you look around and there at this point Bryant buying some are they doing BuyBacks for Ikea furniture again whats there not to like and its simple. We we purchased the land and it was really really easy to set up.
I’m not posting a one star for ikea itself but for the workers. My mom and I are reconstructing our place and obviously we’ve been going to ikea multiple times. Never had a problem until today. While getting food, the workers there already had an issue with me ordering just broccoli, kept saying “anything else” until I told him, I told you “only broccoli that’s it” to which I get a reply “okay I heard you.” Then I go over to the next food section to order Mac and cheese, the lady serving completely ignored me and served the people behind me. Not too sure what the hell I did. As my boyfriend and I pass the soup section, my boyfriend asks me if I want soup and I said nah it looks disgusting TO MY BOYFRIEND, not to anyone else. And the worker by the name is Leanne had the nerve to butt into our convo and say wow she has an attitude, my boyfriend was shocked because … mind your business. I’m like what did she say? And this Leanne walked by and said “yea I said it, you have an attitude”. So my boyfriend goes up to her asks for her name, she’s quiet and he sees her name tag and say ah thanks, gunna report you now and she runs off. Why is ikea hiring people off the streets who want to start problem. I was privately talking to my boyfriend, wasn’t insulting ANYONE. Never going back to ikea, this one person ruined the comfort I had for ikea.
The restaurant 5☆ at least in this one that was my first experience and personal was very organized. The store a little disorganized or not update 🤔 well this is what it happened, we were looking for a desk since home schooling wont change at least for a couple more months, so we looked at everything and ask some questions about the different types etc, then we went to the restaurant for a break and finally decided for one, so we went back to buy it, just to find out that that specific desk was discontinued, 🙄 well then, we ask for our second option that we had, and found out that was out stock and will be ableable in a month or so (seriously, why nobody mentioned anything like that or have at least any sign so we could had think about it if I want to spend my entire morning choosing for something that wont be in stock) then I ask for if they have anything ableable for that day and there were 1 or 2 😒 (it could had take us 2 min to decide, anyways). someone printed out a the paper for us with the information of the products to pick it and buy but then (I ask and show how i want it and if what is on the paper incluye everything and he said yes, then, surprise!!, a piece of the shelf wasnt included so we went back and had to ask someone else for the code and the where was locate it 😰, I mean cmon, anyways then we went for the desk and they had it but it wasnt on floor and itll be ableable till next day so our options was 1) call the store and see in they have it on floor or 2) buy it online and do the curbside pick up, we choose the 2 option and was the best we literally spent 5 min to pick it up. Im giving 4 stars bc I get it, everything is kind of a chaos right now and not all the service was bad also the cashier was very friendly so whole experience changed thanks to her.
Aliyah and Kam who work at the Brooklyn location are quite literally gems. Can’t express how kind they were during my purchase and return (when I fully forgot my receipt). Also, I saw a woman in line yell at some of the employees and I just wanna say kudos to all the Ikea employees for keeping their chill.
Ikea is Ikea. You really cant complain. There was a slight line wait outside on the say I went but it wasnt for too long. Maybe a good 5 minutes of which in that time I realized my phone was in the car of the friend that dropped me off and panicked bevause they werent planning to come into the Ikea at all and were leaving the area for a bit to get food. Thankfully some people in lime and one of the workers at check out pitied me and let me hse their phone ( though who remembers now and days ). I ended up seeing a close friend who had the number so it worked out in the end.A few small things I realized that arent this Ikeas fault but you might want to keep in mind:1. If youre black (and fat) you will get a lot of stares from other patrons. Once I got in touch with my friend and they came back, she decided to stay and walk through Ikea with me. We both recognized that we were getting a LOT of stares from other patrons and that there were maybe 5 other black patrons. Most of the black people here work here. It was extremely uncomfortable.2. At the time of this post (June 2021) theres some construction happening near the parking lot of the Ikea that sort of make it seem like its fully understruction. Its still open though so no problem.3. This location seemed to have a lot of expecting parents and families with small kids. You will need to look down a lot as these small ones run out of areas unexpectedly and if you have a large cart or are fully in your head shopping you might miss them.4. Theres a high pitch noise outside of the Ikea to scare of birds. It was VERY HIGH and a bit much for me but shouldnt bother most people.
We can pick up furniture from any major stores, like Ikea, Lowes, Home Depot, West Elm, etc. and deliver it to your door. We also help you with its assembly. As well we offer moving services all over New York State and its neighboring states. Feel free to contact us any time.
Huge store and you can literally be here a whole day. Many great ideas for decor here. Visibly stunning ideas. The prices are reasonable but you do have to put it together yourself. Went to the cafe to eat and had their world famous swedish meatballs. The line was long but we made it and food tasted great.got what we came for. See the pics.
Im not sure why this Ikea is so poorly rated. We dealt with 6 staff members and every single one of them was super helpful. Our only issue was when we were ordering food in the cafe upstairs. The employees who were preparing the food, seemed to hate their jobs, and all customers, but the cashier made up for it, by being extra friendly.IKEA has so many useful things and its a fun store to go through for design, storage, and organizational needs...so even if you dont buy their particular brand of products, you still leave with some great ideas of what you want to do with your space.
IKEA is always the best store to buy anything you need for your home. I wanted to do the self service, but I was confused with 3 different lines, when I managed to understand where I had to go, everything was very easy. They are taking the social distant but they need someone to guide the client where to go. There were long lines but the service was fast when paying
Ikea is just a fun place to go. Got some beautiful furniture for incredible prices. They did mess up my delivery date on multiple occasions though. It became my responsibility to reschedule and I was on the phone for 45 minutes, mostly on hold, to correct their mistake. Then, they told me that the mistake was corrected and in fact was not as I found out the next day.
I love IKEA. This place is huge, two giant floors, upstairs is where you can eat and see the showrooms, downstairs where you can pick up the items that you want to purchase. Usually I go with a girlfriend of mine, as we make it a nice trip together. Be prepared to spend at least 3 hours there. (We usually spend 3- 4 hours). Love that they always refresh certain sections and come up with new products. (Such as stationery items, pet section, new pillowcovers, blankets, big variety of plants, picture frames, organizers etc.)
From Not to Lerhamn to Stockholm to Lappland, Ikea has it all when it comes to your home filling needs. You could easily spend hours walking through their hand crafted rooms. I personally spent 3 hours window shopping. if youre into it, they also have self service for a select number of products. For the COVID concerned, Ikea has taken precautions to make it a safe experience.. For example, I noticed many hand sanitizer stations throughout.Attached are some random photos I took. Plan to spend a few hours there!
I loveee the collection! So colorful, cute and functional and financially friendly! Plus it’s mostly DIY and tons of options we can have. Shipping and delivery options are also available. Plus lovely cafe and cheap yet yummy food and beverages! They open everyday from 10 AM to 9 PM, so it’s very convenient for us. And if you don’t have your own car, you can go here by bus and ferry as well. It’s just that service needs to be improved! Some staff are unfriendly, inattentive and unhelpful. Feels like they don’t like us asking and buying things :(Well, nevertheless .. will get back here for the collection!
The best way to get here is to take the ferry from Wall Street. It is free on weekends but weekdays you have to spend 10$+ to go back. It is 5$ to get there. The store is huge and has everything very well organized and the staff is very helpf . The cafeteria has many good options to choose from.

2022-02-08Great plant and planter selection, home makeover materials, organizational tools and supplies. Ample parking is available. You can always check online to see if the products you are looking for are in stock. I avoid going on weekends to avoid the crowd.

2022-06-19Always a great place to shop and stroll! They had several fun displays and some cool finds. Im definitely loving their plant selection and their textiles and bedding areas....dont forget to grab some Swedish meatballs with lingonberry jam, lingonberry juice and some of their sweet treats in the cafeteria like restaurant.

2022-02-26THIS PLACE IS BIG AND YOU CAN GET LOST IN IT!!!Even though the food line was long it went pretty well. I got the plant meatballs with regular Swedish meatballs and with Smoned Salmon and this decadent Almond Caramel cake that should be illegal! Everything was delicious! They had some simple furniture there at a good price. Seemed like they had something for everyone. I bought a small bamboo cutting board and a scrub brush for dishes, along with some frozen Swedish meatballs.THIS PLACE IS ALOT OF FUN TO GO TO...SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!!!

2022-04-15Most items are out of stock. No longer sell cinnamon buns trays. Love the showrooms but they barely have the items in one place ex: I was looking for a cup holder I saw on the showroom for the game area and I went to look for it on the bottom floor and they tell me I have to go back upstairs because its not downstairs, so its confusing. I use to like going to ikea but now its just not the same.

2022-02-16No wonder this location only received 2 stars on Yelp. They barely deserve one. We decided to buy our mattresses from IKEA. They have the exact mattress we like so we decided to order the same one. Their website states they had 18 in stock at the time but it didn’t allow us to order it on their website. We call the Brooklyn location and were told when ordering online, it’s sent from a warehouse, not from the store. We asked if we can order it through the store but were told we had to physically come in to order it. We asked due to inconvenience could they make exceptions, … no! We go to the store (during a pandemic), walk the 20 minute maze to finally get to the mattress section and ordered it. We were told we only had a choice of 2 days to get it delivered. Neither date worked but were told those are the only 2 dates. No apology, no explanation, so we booked one date. I stated to the sales person that I live in a high rise and there are time restrictions for delivering furniture/mattresses (10am to 4pm). She said no problem. Later I called to reschedule to a date that was convenient and there was no issue when I did it later by phone. The day before the delivery I get an automated call stating my mattress will be delivered between 9am and 11am. I press 3 and speak to someone and again reiterated the 10am-4pm situation. They said they will ‘make a note’. Day of the delivery, they call at 9:15 and said they are 10 minutes away. I again reiterated to the driver the 10am-4pm situation. He said office will call me. Ten minutes later I get a call (bounces to vmail as it’s suspected spam call). I listen to message and call back the number they gave me to call. After a 10 minute hold I tell them the situation and they said they may need to reschedule. I had to state that it would be inconvenient to have to take off another day for no fault of mine. The drivers were told to come back the same day and did around noon. They deliver the mattress, but they didn’t take off the plastic, the box and the pouch it came in. They just pushed it into my apartment, took a pic of it and left. I asked if they take it out of the packaging and they said no.Although we love the mattress, we do NOT love they way we were treated by IKEA all the problems they could had avoided. During these times, merchants should be making it easier for customers to buy their products, not make it more difficult. If you want convenience and treated with value and respect, I suggest you don’t shop at IKEA. They don’t seem to care about us, the customer.

2022-05-28I like this Ikea. Its pretty big and have these floor to ceiling windows in one spot where you can just stare out into the water. The show rooms are nice and switch up so its different if you space out time between visits. The employees are nice and helpful. The food is up to Ikea standards, always eat here when visiting. If you are in Manhattan theres a free ferry that runs from NYC to this Ikea and returns. The last return boat is at 5pm so keep that in mind. The NYC ferry in brooklyn stops at red hook which is like a good 10-15 minute walk to Ikea. The lobster pound and hometown bbq is an easy walk from the ferry area too. Would only do the walk to/from the ferry if buying small items or have a trolley.

2022-06-16The food continues to be relatively cheap and surprisingly delicious. It’s hard to complain about the meatballs, and the chicken fingers and fries are a sleeper hit!
