Really had a lovely experience. Not a fan for outdoor seating but really enjoyed it our waitress/bartender was great! Super sweet and friendly. Great Manhattan! Food was really good... evry dish was rich in flavors. Highly recommended and looking forward enjoying their indoors or garden next time.!
I used to love this place and had my regular weekend brunch here. I started going back post pandemic and the place went downhill quickly. The staff was unprofessional in that when they ended their shift, they simply walked out the door without an introduction to the new server, if there was one. I observed a bartender step up in the drainage mats for the clean wineglasses with her dirty boots. Lastly, without apologies, my party that was denied service because two 12 year olds didn’t have vaccination cards with them, caused my entire party to have to leave. This was done well after the NYS mandate was lifted. They just wanted to keep it going on their own, which is certainly their option, but the manager was very stoic, and again, unapologetic. This is NYC, no one has to deal with this if they don’t choose to.
I came to for dinner last night, because I’m thinking of hosting an event at the space. The restaurant is located in the Noho area, and it has a beautiful loft space upstairs that seats up to 55 people. This restaurant has rustic Italian food and a very homey and cozy ambience, with exposed brick and a pretty decor. They have an extensive selection of wines. The food is absolutely delicious. The bread and olive oil is amazing and I highly recommend the Riso Nero and the parpadelle. While I am usually not a big fan of desserts, this restaurant has an amazing olive oil cake, which is not greasy and so light and fluffy. The chocolate pudding is also amazing, and they add some textural contrast by putting crispy rice on the top. The staff is super friendly, and our waiter was really friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a great dining experience and perfect for a date night. It’s also good value because we ordered 3 appetizers, two mains and wine and the total came out to under $200.
This restaurant was great, the service was on par. Had a great dinner with friends. The fish was amazing the food was fresh. Felt like they were just taking care of us tonight even though the restaurant was packed. Must say hidden gem in nyc. You must give it a try. Will be back and will tell my friends. The bread has organic ingredients. The pasta was also great and fresh. Overall good ingredients and a fantastic restaurant very clean and managed well.
Expecting a better experience. The decor of the place is great. Cozy and with a “home made” feel. Service was OK. By no means up to the price of the menu. In general The food was below expectation. The dessert was awesome. I liked it a lot. Not coming again. Service vs food vs price not a good balance in my books.
The layout, lighting, and interior are well done. Staff is very attentive and have zones so they are never too far away. Be aware sitting at the bar can become very crowded when the restaurant starts to fill up. Okay if youre an early bird.Strongly recommend Bucatini Cacio e Pepe. Amazing. Heirloom tomatoes with olive tapnade is very good.Service was great for dinner on Saturday but spotty on Sunday. Not sure why.
First off, this is probably the most spacious restaurant I’ve been to in NYC lol. Loved the (daily special) citrus salad and crab salad with cucumbers, black rice with pork, and short ribs. Their chocolate mousse pudding was among the best I’ve ever had. However, their spaghetti neri was a failure-the spaghetti was super stiff and dry. We waited a bit longer for the primi and secondi so the waiter gave us a basket of bread that normally would be charged for $2. It was also very good. Overall satisfying experience!
This is one of my favourite places to eat anywhere Ive been in the entire world. I recently came here for the second time (the first was in 2013, when I was living in London, where I had my fair share of fine dining experiences) and it was just as sublime and indulgent as the first. My wife and I were there to celebrate our anniversary. We booked an early table and I think the combination of the early seating with the event we were celebrating was why the chef sent us two complimentary dishes. One of which was the Whitefish Crudo, which was the freshest, most wonderfully flavourful thing. I may have sipped some of the sauce from the bowl afterwards. The fried artichokes are amazing—as tasty and fun as I remember from my first visit. The salumi selection we had was divine, the cheese served along with it a delightful little bonus. As was the small dish of honey which went so well with both cheeses. The special that night was scallops with grapefruit—winning combination. The scallops were richly sweet and creamy, perfectly prepared. We also had the greens with buttermilk dressing. This simple salad was so well presented and prepared. The selection of greens and quality of them was fantastic. As were the tomatoes in the heirloom tomato salad. My wifes comment on these was that is was as if she had never truly tasted tomatoes before then. As someone who regularly makes tomato salads of which I am known, I do feel I have to step up my game. This is an amazing place to dine, and absolutely worth visiting to share a variety of dishes with fellow foodies. A special treat worth saving up for if such dining experiences are not usually in your budget.
This is a hip and casual Italian restaurant in the East Village with good food, service, and decor. Went recently for lunch with my wife and we enjoyed the freshly baked bread basket, a salsiccia appetizer, gnocchi, and a crispy chicken panino. The salsiccia was especially delicious and I would highly recommend it -- a warm dish of pork sausage, beans, and cabbage. The restaurant is fairly large and has a number of seating options so it looks like it can accommodate small to large groups easily.
Overpriced. Food is average at best and certainly does not justify this price point. Ordered branzino, it came with nothing on the side but what looked as a piece of bread. The place is pretty dark and I took a bite of what I thought was bread, it turned out that these dodo heads decided to serve a big piece of salt with the branzino. Why would they serve a huge piece of salt with a $40 fish only they know. You can do much better in other restaurants in the neighborhood and save your hard earned money.
Food is very good but I found it not to be as tasty as my favourite the big sister restaurant Il Buco on Bond St. The lunch menu was very good value and asparagus salad (see photo) was delicious. Great wine selection and good younger vibe than big sister il buco.. definitely will be back!
Amazing restaurant - one of the best I’ve ever been to. However, can’t give a full 5 stars because I felt a bit shunned by the staff and the signature dish, paella, wasn’t as good as the other dishes which where absolutely amazing. I highly suggest this place despite a few off-putting things.
Been here a few times and food was has been great except last night. Not sure what happened in the kitchen but roasted carrots were completely burnt black on one side, and the short ribs were smaller in portion than previous visits, hidden underneath celery and fried peppers in a pasta bowl, totally not worth $110! We thought about complaining but our guest didn’t want to so we didn’t. The kitchen should not have sent out the carrots, and a restaurant of this caliber should not make guests feel if they should complain. Very disappointed.
VERY BAD SERVICE! The guy named Kile made us feel very unwelcome from the first moment. He was aggressive, loud and rude. We asked for table outside, the restaurant was empty but he told us everything’s fully booked and they have only one table almost on the road. After he asked for vacs card and we showed it to him but it wasn’t enough for that guy and he started to ask for the passport. We were in shock cuz it’s not necessary, it’s written everywhere that we only need to show the proof of vaccination to sit INDOORS and we were trying to sit outside. He told us we are very welcome to complain so here we are.
First and foremost, the service was excellent. Thank you Hector. Yes were on a pandemic, but dining outside on a warm September evening was relaxing and delightful. Having a leisurely meal, over 3 hours, with wonderful company, never feeling rushed ... thats how adults have a meal.Appetizers, crisp, nicely dressed salad. Try the roasted beets. If you thought youd never like beets, you will now.If you like food with some spice, try a pasta prepared Al Tonno. Maybe a touch heavy on the chili spice, but a nice entree.
My fiancé and I were walking by and thought this place looked interesting, and so we tried it out. This was easily one of the best meals we have ever had in New York. The portions were perfectly sized, the wine was fantastic, our waiter was incredibly attentive and kind, and the ambiance was wonderful. It was definitely not a cheap place, but the food was high quality and we were happy to pay for such excellent food and service!
Trendy downtown restaurant serving seasonal and quality, locally sourced or imported ingredients in all their dishes. Comfortable, unpretentious setting with outdoor seating in warmer weather, but it gets crowded even on weekdays. Great daily specials, wonderful wine and a knowledgeable staff. Feels like youve escaped to Italy for a brief respite! Dont forget to buy their fresh yeast breads and more at their market before you leave.
Really enjoyed this place. The staple pasta is a thicker version of spaghetti with a lot of pepper. Its the pasta Ive been craving. The portion is small so be sure to order bread and the salumi. At least. There artichoke was good but over hyped. Wine list was also pretty lacking. They do have a coat check despite being small and packed. Also side note, I made reservations and they still sat our two top at the bar. Not a lot of tables. This is more communal.
Enjoyed the espresso creations of Cindy at the front bar with a couple of made in house pastries. Planned on just stopping in for a minute and stayed almost 2 hours! Drinks amazing! Pastries fantastic! Conversation and jokes and silly stories did more than cheer me up! Thanks again Cindy! You and The Stewardess really made my day!! Decor, atmosphere, and overall ambiance were really nice as well. Not sure what the complaints about prices are about either. Prices fit the spot. And well worth it!
This a truly unusual venue: a market with every imaginable cheese, meat and bread product, all from Italy, none from else where unless house-made from Italian goods. Then there is a large dining area serviced by efficient, competent and friendly staff. Then the food: all absolutely delicious, huge varieties of perfectly prepared dishes spectacularly garnished with rare but appropriate goodies. All for under $250 for three including a great bottle of natural Barbera - from Italy of course - and a generous tip.
Simple the best. Once you sit down you will be impressed by the quality of the staff and service. But when youll start getting your food on the table youll be over the moon. The quality of the ingredients is simply the best from Olive oil they put on the table to the coffee at the end of the meal. You will not be disappointed
We are loyal customers...until now. The short ribs that are or used to be their specialty were served boiled! served with celery with it...so adding water to the ribs! Carrots were burned.. what’s amazed is how a chef has no shame to provide that kind pf dish...even the server was embarrassed
Food wise this place is top notch! I cant give them five stars, though, because seating wise its a mess. Youll wait 15-20 minutes past time of the reservation, in an area where there is NO space-- forget about getting a drink at the bar while you wait, its too crowded. They seem to be biting off way more then they can chew. Id come here all the time in a heart beat if the organization was better, as the cocktails are amazing, the wine list is fantastic, and the food is superb! Its also a very loud space, fyi.
Cool and hip Italian place with authentic food. The homemade pasta has the best texture and flavor. Appetizers are great. Nothing is too heavy but they are tasty. The ice cream and sorbet are home made with such intense flavor. This is great place with authentic Italian food, casual chic flair.
Food was great, quality of products, great. Cleanliness, great -- service, unfortunately left a lot to be desired. We came hungry, and just getting some food on the table was very difficult. I love il Buco, but this more relaxed alternative maybe a little too relaxed for the staff. Three stars could have easily have been four if the team had it together that day.
I think I am more on the 3.5 side of 4. Its a beautiful place to dine and the waiters are not too bad for NY city. Food is a very good standard of Italian but not amazing. Tried the selection of meats -- was super fresh and the salami was rich in flavours.. I recommend if you are craving Italian but it is not a new taste experience
Cool atmosphere with a lot to offer. They have lots of seating (indoor, loft, and sidewalk) for dining, and there is an amazing market with delicious Italian wares. We came for the gelato and it was well worth it! The salted caramel is the BEST salted caramel flavor Ive tasted anywhere. Would recommend the black currant basil sorbet and the coconut gelato.Well be back for dinner!
Always loved this restaurant but really disappointed when I went back recently.Food is no longer as good as before. We order the octopus and black rice to start. The rice was fine but the octopus was very rubbery. Then I had the chicken and it was over cooked and dry. Service was also sloppy compared to before. There is a lack of love and care in the restaurant overall. Its quite disheartening to see the fall of quality.
The wife and I went here for date night and were not disappointed. We ordered the artichoke appetizer and cacio de pepe and risotto for diner. It tasted like the ingredients were cut off the vine that morning. The wait staff was great but they do “aggressively refill” the water. Overall a great experience.
Took my mother here for Mothers Day brunch; it was packed! Warning: the seats may not be doable for folks with disabilities or pain issues as a lot of them are elevated stools. Highly recommend the carbonara and the olive oil cake for dessert - fantastic ❤️ my mom said it was the best meal shed had since coming to the city, so I count that a huge win.
Terrific casual delicious lunch. I had the shaved brussel sprout salad and it tasted better than I could have ever imagined. I thought I was being healthy but I didnt suffer for that decision. The white beans, grilled shrimp, and spaghetti were all delicious as well. A great bottle of wine for $35 too. The finale was the panna cotta, which is just too incredible to describe. The whole experience left me feeling like Id been pampered by my grandmother and had a spa treatment combined.
Food was OK. Limited menu and fresh baked bread was less than hoped for. Our main server was super snooty and quite unpleasant. Another server who actually brought out meals and resulted our drinks was polite and wonderful. But the main server had already fallen the experience by then. Also, as we were leaving employees looked post the first member of our party (female) to thank and farewell only the one male member of our party.
OK to good experience. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and accommodating. I expected a very different ambiance/atmosphere for the price point. Super, super loud. Lots of big groups. We were a 4 top and shared most plates. Crudo and octopus were really great. Whole branzino, agnolotti and gnocchi were also solid. Porchetta was tough. Didnt like the burnt honey cheesecake. Sorbets were good, though. I doubt Ill go back but it wasnt a bad experience, just not a great one.
The food is good but nothing to be crazy about. If you know what excellent Italian food is you will be a little bit disappointed. I would have give them a 4 stars review if it was not so pricy... this restaurant is way too expensive for what it sells you. it seems to work well for them though as it was really crowded. Good for them but if you are looking for a place that is not trying to ballshit you, try another one.
The ribs are great! You should really have it if youve enough people on your table. The pasta is properly al dent and caccio and pepe was very solid.Cold cuts are also a great option.Service is good, they have a good wine selection and a great bartender.Environment is more on the casual side, with normal noise levels for NY standard and space between tables.
A place where would take me time to think about going back again (for its atmosphere). The decoration is cozy and chill - kinda gives you Northern Italy night vibes. But my party was seated at an awkward corner. The hospitality was like a joke. Waiters dont come to our table and it was extremely hard to call one over - they seem lost in their own restaurant! And there was, unfortunately, always something not on point in our dishes - whether the seasoning or the texture. Im not sure if all the mistakes were caused by the overwhelming guests in a condensed restaurant cuz man! I saw ppl standing right in the middle of the room waiting for more than 40-50 minutes!
Went again in March 2016:I have always had outstanding meals here. This time the server was wonderful. He was almost poetic in his descriptions of the specials and he seemed very passionate about the food and wines. We started with the housemade salumi = SO GOOD! The short ribs were stunning. Then we had the figs with lardo which I wasnt sure was going to work, but totally did. The artichokes were good but a couple of my friends dont know how to eat them, so I schooled them.I have recommended this restaurant numerous times. One friend from DC told me she dreams about the Busiate pasta. We had that and the Cacio Pepe which our server told us was there most popular pasta. We shared the panna cotta before heading to Lafayette for more desserts. You cannot go wrong here. One of the best places in NYC and I dont say that lightly.------------------------------My old review:Always well done, but never overdone food. The quality of the ingredients always shines through in the food here. We enjoyed the salumi, pasta dishes, artichokes, the large played, etc. Ive never had a questionable dish. The first dish I ever had from Il Buco was the panna cotta with balsamic reduction at the Hester Street Fair several years ago. It is always the perfect ending to a meal there.
Super attentive service and great food. Everything from the small plates sections is a big hit, especially the boquerones.... So simple, so delicious. In addition to an outstanding wine list, the cocktails were also outstanding. The charcuterie was the highlight though. Amazing morradella!
Today was my first time visiting this restaurant... i dont think i could have had a better experience... a friend & i shared a margherita pizza & a plate of bucatini cacio e pepe... they were DELICIOSA!!! had a lovely spritz (not aperol-- i forget what it was-- guess i must go back to find out)... also, the staff was exceptional...
Everything here is amazing. We ate family style so I had the chance to try a lot of things. Definitely get the bread for the table. I had the red beet gnocchi and it was beety and delicious. The cacio e peppe (bucatini) was cooked PERFECTLY and was delicious. The half chicken and the branzino are enough to split and were both excellent. For apps, the fired artichokes were delicious but I really recommend the wild rice with shrimp. There were some others which I forget but remember being really good.I didnt delve into the wine list here but their beer list, although small, was well manicured and did not disappoint. From what I heard from the table the wine was pretty good. This is definitely a repeat.
Interesting the point of view of Tim Tsai, I had the same feeling about the seating options of Il Buco Alimentari. The place is pretty, but it was more casual than I expected. However, the price of the restaurant doesnt match the ambience, even though it was cool. The dishes were good but I had higher expectations like another reviewer. Perhaps if I went expecting less I would be more impressed. Just a tip - the cheese in the restaurant is extremely fresh and delicious
My lunch was far superior to the dinners Ive had at il buco. Shared at least ten dishes, many of them appetizers, plus one pasta, and most were outstanding. So were the spritzes. Id definitely return and would try dinner next time. Dont care if i ever return to the main resto. Service here wasnt especially friendly.
Pastas are decent and have a good bite. Octopus appetizer was good. Chocolate torte was a delicious dessert (the fruit currant offset the rich chocolate very nicely). The pistachio shortcake was good, but it was more of a general fruit shortcake rather than a pistachio shortcake.
Id strongly advise to all who rated this place 5 stars to take a trip to Italy and train their palate. The place isnt terrible, its decent at best. Most definitely no stunner. The plates lack creativity as well as tradition. The bread basket is good and the olive oil is also of good quality, but thats where everything stopped to be ok/above average.Fried artichokes: not impressing. A traditional Sicilian dish calls for batter. These were simply artichoke hearts dumped in a deep frier. While flavor was acceptable, it was a shame having to taste the fried oil in the external leaves.Octopus appetizer: with 3 small tentacles, 3 marble-sized potatoes, 1 olive. it makes for a quite overpriced dish. The tasteless squid ink was an unnecessary addition. The Insalata was very inconvenient to eat since to please the eye and emphasize on presentation, someone thought itd be OK to serve full, uncut radicchio and endive leaves on a plate rather than chopping and serving them in a bowl, a formula sure to yield high annoyance and low satisfaction. Thankfully the taste wasnt bad, although just about what expected from a decent restaurant worth its salt (no pun). The seasoning was simple but tasteful: lemon juice, goat cheese, pomegranate, and pistachios (though it wasnt there you wouldnt even notice). The addition of 2 read two, peeled orange slices was no sensation. Labour that could be safely avoided as it didnt add to the plate. If anything dried figs would likely have been a better option to contrast the goat cheese. The beet gnocchi were dry. Nothing in the dish stood out. Cant taste the beets nor the leeks. The ricotta salata and a mild buttery taste was all that came to the palate via the insufficient amount of sauce at the bottom of thIs small sized dish. The gnocchi themselves are a bit on the hard side, they didnt melt in your mouth as good gnocchi should. A rather disappointing first course.I had the chance to taste a special addition to the dinner menu, introduced (by our good waiter whose name escapes me) as a filet of cod with skin. Regrettably that second course didnt redeem the disappointment from the first. The downwards trend continued.Aside from being a sad looking entree (albeit more in size than presentation), it truly looked like it was trying too hard to be one of those upscale restaurant (River Café et sim.) where you get served a cauliflower pannacotta the size of a soda bottle cap as a pre-appetizer (the appetizer isnt going to be much larger either). By the way, dont breathe too heavily, or your will risk inhaling it by accident!Back to il Bucos dining experience: the Cod wasnt cooked through as the inner flesh of the small chunk of filet was distinctively undercooked as was evident by both texture and flavor. At over 30-something bucks (cant tell exact cost as I was treated) the dish wasnt worth the price tag in any way shape of form. The flavor was nothing to write home about and the squid ink used for garnish was like it wasnt even there. Perhaps a good mistake since it had no place in the dish to begin with. Would have been so much more enjoyable if it was cooked thoroughly and seasoned in simple salt, pepper, lemon and a drizzle of fresh extra virgin olive oil. A sad waste of a potentially good small chunk of cod filet. We also tried a side dish, the fried polenta served with Parmesan cheese. While its crispy and tastes like polenta (albeit on the grainy side), it lacked in flavor. Youd be better off ordering more bread for a couple bucks than this unwarrantedly overpriced contorno dish. If I had to suggest a change Id add salted butter and crushed toasted almonds to the polenta mix just to avoid making this contorno taste so overwhelmingly all about corn. It would also be a good idea to add parmesan to the polenta mix rather than sprinkle it over it.Generally overpriced, decor is OK, service is a tad overzealous.Common table seats are awful. Patrons are far too loud, but whats worse is that owners enforce no etiquette. Wont return.
Cozy ambiance that hits the nice balance between cozy and vibrant. Open kitchen in the back, and little shop up front. We were fortunate enough to get a tour of the two level prep kitchen below. They cure their own salamis and all sorts of amazing things. Would go back.
The food is fine, however, the service is consistently indifferent, bordering on hostile. On my most recent visit, they sat my septuagenarian parents and 31-week pregnant wife at a communal booth that was so awkwardly shaped that it was literally difficult for them to sit down. Moreover, once squeezed into the booth, the organization of the table prevented (1) conversation, (2) service, and (3) the ability to leave ones seat to access the bathroom. When I mentioned to the host that they should warn people that they are reserving a seat at a shared table, she replied most of our tables are communal. As I walking out swearing to myself that I would never return, I overheard a guy interacting with a host say, Oh yeah, I remember why I never come here, I hate these people. Pretty much sums it up.
During the dinner the service was good. But at the end the waiter was very, very rude demanding for more tips, although we had already given a fair gratuity. In my 60 years of life I have never had such an unpleasant experience. The nice food does not compensate the unpolite service. Dont go!
This is one of our favorite restaurants. The salumi is terrific & the pasta dishes are excellent An ever changing menu keeps our choices varied for each visit. The dishes are well proportioned which enables us to have 2-3 courses with ease. The panacotta with aged balsamic dessert is a must try & the homemade gelato is seriously addictive as well.
Two words: order Everything! Im kidding lol but anything you order will be amazing. The owner Diane has made an excellent job and her staff as well. Take recommendations for the wine and how to pair it with the food. The atmosphere is like being back in an italian market with all the colors and the aroma :)
What is all the fuss about. Very good ingredients usually make for good food. This is the case here. Some real skill is displayed by the quality of the house made pasta and the care with which it is prepared. But all of that is negated by the obnoxious and indifferent staff. It is tough to craft and prepare near perfect pasta. It is much easier to be hospitable. This place fails for me.
Ive never eaten here, but I regularly am tasked with buying their bread for my boss and her family, butA) Their bread is soooo tasty - multiple optionsB)I always felt weird being given the receipt from them with an option to tip, because often their staff was sour faced to learn I just wanted to purchase a $6 small loaf of bread, but recently theyve employed a lady who sells their bread items - she wears her hat backwards and beams when she greets you - and I get it. I want to tip her because she is so pleasant, doesnt judge you for what youre ordering, and is aware that her pleasantness is magnetic.
Probably my favorite restaurant at the moment. Incredible fried artichokes to start. Excellent pastas (especially the bucatini with parmesan reggiano, cracked pepper, and meyer lemon). Arguably the best dish is the short ribs - not something Id usually order, but this thing is ridiculous. Get it and never look back. The waitstaff is polite and knows their stuff, and the setting is great because you can choose from various types of tables in three different areas.
I felt like I was at home as soon as I stepped in the door. The entire staff was extremely friendly and welcoming like being at Grandmas house for dinner. Chef Garrison Price puts his heart and soul into the food and you can feel it in every bite. You owe it to yourself to eat at this restaurant!!
The best pasta I have ever had. The pesto pasta (I cant recall its name) was an absolute delight - perfect in salt, flavour - only the Maa Ki Dal served by Zaranj (in Kolkata) which is my favorite, is its competitor in perfection according to me. A must have if you are in new york!
Its an interesting mish-mosh of new and old design elements in this restaurant. Its interesting and they kept the spacy open and airy at least although the seating is quite close, especially if there is a loud-talker next to you. Food is pretty good but not mind-blowing. I had the bacala (very salty) and the porchetta (could have been saltier). Service was attentive, but did mess up an order.
This combination store, wine bar and restaurant is charming, bustling and full of good eats. As you would expect, charcuterie, cheese and pastas are all top notch; try the busiate pasta with anchovies, capers and almonds! I was here for lunch, a heads up that it got pretty loud at times and service was on the slower side.
The appetizers were great olive oil tasting and charcuterie board. But after that it went down hill the cacio de Pepe was under cooked not enough cheese and extremely peppery. My pasta was raw and when asked to cook more it was clearly just left under a heat lamp. Service was lackluster for a place this over priced as well.
Charming, Italian market, cafe and restaurant.A nice I selection of Italian and European foodstuffs, including caviar.Restaurant offers variety of Italian dishes, principal pasta, including a daily, prefix Market lunch, salad, entree, and dessert - cheese course, gelato, or sorbeto - for $29, with recommended wine pairing at additional cost.B
Ive been to il Buco several times now and have never had quite a negative experience like last nights - our server was incredibly rude and bordered on incompetent (had to ask her four times for for a couple different things, spilled drinks, made snide side remarks on our orders and questions and didnt inform us when one of our orders was out), it took over an hour to get a few pasta dishes and a raw fish dish to us (I mean, really, how long does it take to cook raw fish?), and when we went to the host staff and manager, he brushed us off like we were nothing. Normally in these situations one might expect them to comp drinks or to offer up a complimentary appetizer or dessert; in this instance, he just rolled his eyes back in his porcine head.Admittedly the food is terrific, but you can find places that are comparable (Aria?) where you dont have to deal with the people you are paying to serve you treating you like youre nothing.
Came here at 1pm ish on the weekend and it was not crowded? Wow. Then I found out why. This lackluster dim sum place falls flat not due to its second floor, inside the mall location. The food takes the blame, they were on average to mediocre.Chicken Feet: was not cooked long enough.White turnip cake: I found pieces of taro in it. Is this taro or turnip cake? It was barely seared on the pan.Shui Mai: average.Shrimp Dumpling: average.Rice crepes: had better.Sticky rice in lotus leaves: averagePork buns: nothing to write aboutI was totally surprised when my man told me that there is a guy in the mens bathroom servicing and waiting on tip. Whaaaat? This is the only dim sum place I have ever been to where they dont rush you. The table next to us were actually taking their time and reading newspaper. Yep. Wow.
Definitely one of my favorite places in nyc. everything is good but if you cant try everything, you must have: fried artichokes, the short ribs, porchetta, salted caramel gelato. the, on your way out, buy a bottle of their olive oil, bread, more gelato and continue eating at home. best home made salame!

2022-03-23Great food and atmosphere. Personally, I dont like shared seating or listening to other peoples conversations at the table with me, but that was my only drawback about this place. Everything on the menu was on point and our server Bill was knowledgeable and attentive. The olive oil cake was a very unique dessert and worth the try.

2022-03-16Tried a nice sampling of appetizers and entrees from the menu. Our favorites were the prosciutto and the razor clams by far. We had heard great things about the bread basket and short rib dish but were a bit underwhelmed. The bread was cold and didn’t seem like it was baked on premises. The short rib had some add ons like celery and nuts which were unexpected but hard to integrate since the meat was all still on the bone. Maybe a refined plating or slicing could have helped. The fried artichoke recommended to us was ok but the texture was a bit rubbery. We preferred the brussel sprouts for a veggie side. Pasta was a great texture.

2022-03-26The manager was super friendly, lovely woman and was able to get us to a comfortable table earlier than the reservation. The server wasnt the best but the food was impeccable. Very delicious and well put together. It was my friends birthday and they made it very special with amazing panna cotta dessert on the house. I ordered cacio e peppe, very good! Wine paired well.

2022-01-30We went here to celebrate a birthday and it has a nice casual vibe compared to its other locations. Here’s what we ordered:- 1/5 bread basket (bread isn’t on the house here and frankly wasn’t that great. It was cold and felt old- 5/5 buratta - the cheese was fresh, loved the chili salt, citrus fruits And the lime oil drizzle- 2/5 cacio e Pepe - the pasta was Al dente but the rest of the pasta was below average, lacked in flavor, and probably had pepper for 3 servings.- 4/5 Brussels sprouts- 5/5 panna cotta - great texture, flavor and loved the balsamic drizzle- 5/5 chocolate cake

2021-07-27Delicious dinner and great service tonight. And also happy to report the restaurant was jampacked on a Monday night! We shared 3 apps including the octopus and butterfly squash. The pastas are delicious and their pannacotta is excellent.

2021-06-01Very good pasta. We had the cavatelli, the cacio e pepe, the carbonara, and the burger. All the pasta dishes were delicious. No frills. Just good pasta. The burger, I didnt try but it certainly looked good. The fries that came with the burger were overly salty, however.Great service and ambiance. Overall a solid lunch!
