One of my containers of rice was half empty and I called and one employee said sorry and there was nothing he could do. Rude and unhelpful. I also asked for extra sauce on the side. Got no sauce. I asked for napkins and utensils and got none. What was so difficult about this order?..Update: I went the next morning in person. The woman in the front was extremely helpful and apologetic for the service I had received the night before. She gave me a full tray of rice, sauce for the food I could eat the night before, and utensils for free.I would give 1 star for the service the night before, but 5 for the way it was corrected. Also, 5 for the food! It was pretty good once I had what I needed! Especially the Channa Masala. So Id average it out to 3 stars.
Second time here valentines night 2020 was great. Low key spot with quality appetizers, classic traditional main Indian dishes and breads. Garlic knaan is great with the lamb Rogan josh! Try the fish molee it is superb! Excellent spices and aromas. Was here with the folks in the summer and we all had an excellent experience as well. Great music and not too loud or crowded 👌🏾
Matthew was a wonderful host, helped me figure out the best dish for my taste and was very attentive to me and my fiance during our dining experience. The food was tasty and their drinks are amazing. Quality food, great service, and cozy atmosphere.Keep in mind they have two restaurants on the same block. The take out one and dine in one.I definitely recommend this restaurant and will be going back again.
I ordered 2 lunch box. Both the lunch box came with rice, naan, 2 vegetables, chicken fry and the specified meat curry chicken and mutton curry. I was literally amazed by the quality, quantity and variety of food. And it was just 10 dollars per lunch box. I highly recommend this place.
If you crave authentic kerala cuisine, look no further. Ive been enjoying their food for a few years now and their taste and quality still is the same, be it their biryani, dosas, beef fry, parotas, etc. A definite must try. They are a small joint but dont be fooled by the size, they more than make it up with their tasty preparations.
Tonight was a special pre-yom Kippur dinner with friends and our screwed up order resulted in one of the worst evenings of the year completely ruined because India Cafe restaurant in white plains allowed me to order mango chutney and then did not send it with my $98.62 order. They felt that offering a $4 credit was ok when I would have NEVER ordered from them if I knew they were out. Its like ordering burritos and the restaurant runs out of avocado or tortillas and assume the customer still wants the order. I WOULD HAVE CANCELLED!Now Im stuck with $98.62 worth of food and without the essential condiment, its not worth it. Imagine if you spent $100 on French fries and looked forward to it for weeks, and when they finally arrive, they tell you they were out of catsup. We are so upset considering there are plenty of other indian restaurants in the area. The unfriendly lady at the restaurant told me she was born and raised in India and that no one eats mango chutney with their food. Was this supposed to make me feel better? I was l left insulted and in a rotten mood. When I did finally eat. The food was entirely too spicy for my palate, but Im sure that if I had complained, I would have been told that its my problem. The service I received on the phone was beyond bad. If you like hot spicy food, you will love this place. But if you order mango chutney and it doesnt arrive, dont worry; apparently only stupid Americans like it and you dont really need it anyway.
We are from NJ and it was our first time here. The food was amazing! Authentic Indian dishes all cooked to perfection. Duck roast was one of the Chef’s specials for the day and we all loved it! Will definitely keep going there. Great staff and pleasant ambience as well.
Went to lunch buffet around 215pm. Big mistake. Buffet closes at 3 so i thought decent window for food to be reasonably fresh. Food was cold and stale as if it had been sitting out there, we got it microwaved but still had a weird smell and stale taste. Id much rather prefer if the owner would just tell me food is cold come back another time for a better experience.
Sharing my experience based on todays visit. Went there for having masala dosa but unfortunately they had problem with the electric Tava and they could not provide the dish. We had 3 pcs Samosa for $6.5 including taxes, the taste was OK Ok. Could have been better but cant expect the same taste as in India. Otherwise ambience is cool and setup looks hygienic and clean.
Sounds like people, Google maps, and other review systems are confused about this restaurant recently. There are actually two different store fronts on the same block with the same name and same owners. Looks like they tried to make it confusing, and their out of date website is not helping either. The original one (92 E Post Rd) is in the middle of the block and is a small take out place. The newer one (98 E Post Rd) is a few stores east, closer to the corner and a full sit down nice restaurant; this one looks closed for Covid, along with their lunch buffet. Too bad the original store that is currently open does not have many lunch combinations as they used to, and as other restaurants in the area. It would be great if they at least bring back their counter where the server can quickly pack daily pre-made food (NOT buffet) for your lunch combinations. Food is good.
I have been here with my family numerous times in the last couple of years. The quality of food has been consistently delicious and every visit to the restaurant has been worth the menu & time spent. In addition to the quality of food, service has been phenomenal. They are uniquely capable of making good North Indian dishes as well some very good South Indian dishes. I will highly recommend this place for quality Indian food !!!Updated on 8/19/2019: Disappointing dinner experienceVisited the past weekend, as a family of 6 with wife, kids and parents. Food quality has deteriorated definitely. Biryani and chole masala were palatable. Paneer dosa was bland, lost the spark of flavor in Samosa chat and Chapathi was crispy. Previously, they used to provide papad on the house, now they seemed to have abandoned the practice. Most importantly service quality has fallen. They seemed understaffed, did not see the regular host and waiters. Two tables near us remained dirty for a very long time. Had to remind the waiter separately once for each aspect - cutlery, glass of water, the napkin etc., I will be avoiding this place now and will look for other options.
Ive eaten at many, many Indian restaurants in my lifetime. This one is definitely one of the very best. The curries are not blanded-down/generic like so many places Ive dined at - the spices come on strong and the various curries have different bases and nuances.Hope they are around for a long time.
I really enjoyed this place. The quality and flavor is excellent. The service was also really great, and they happily gave me a free rice to take home with my left overs!! Love this place. Its in a weird place (above nyc) so Ill probably never be back there again, but Im glad I stopped by.
Weekday night we reached at 8 and almost did not go in. It was empty and the staff was looked like they were ready to wind down.We had walked with some shopping bags for 15 mins to get here... so we got lazy, took a chance and went in.We ordered the vegetarian dishes. The food was simply fantastic. Service was good as well. Definitely on my list next time I am in White Plains.
We have been looking for a great neighbohood restaurant for our family, something for vegetarians and omnivores, with tasty dishes, and not too expensive. We love this place! Decor is a bit plain, but the food is great. The okra dish (Bhindi Do Pyaza), Kerala Chicken Curry, and Paneer Tikka Masala dishes were excellent. Mushroom Tandoori was a pleasant surprise. We will be back!
I recently visited this location and although it looks small and its not visually stunning the food was fantastic. They give you a tray of several types of food for the buffet and some naan. Its plenty of food for one person but because its so good you cant help but to keep eating. If you like little dive restaurants this is a great place. Great food for a great price.
Ordered Uber delivery which was excellent as the food was still hot. About the food, well found it very bland for Indian food. Was like hospital food. Ordered Masala Dosa with chutney and sambhar, Dosa and sambhar was good, chutney not so tasty very blend. Also ordered Aloo Paratha with Raits and Malai chicken tikka. Well not that delicious. Paratha was big but barely any aloo(Potatoes) or any spices in it. Tasted like regular Paratha. Wasted money. Same with Raita tasteless just way too much Onions in it. Same with Malai Chicken Tika, totally flavorless so blend and again tons of raw onions. So overall wasted money. Except guess if interested in South Indian Cuisine they make well. Perhaps chef/cook is south Indian thinks can cook other types of cuisine if India. All Indian food should have flavorful spices. Not necessary pepper hot. Guess when I that area again will try other Indian restaurants unless want Hot south Indian cuisine.
I was the first person at the buffet but the food was already tepid at best, cool actually. The naan was hard, like cardboard and cracked when I attempted to fold it around a piece of chicken. Everything was okay, nothing was especially tasty. The staff was friendly and accomodating.
Being from south India I have to say the chef here can recreate the authentic taste of many south Indian dishes. Their vada is the best I have had even compared to the ones in India. Also the ghee roast or plain dosa was great. We We also had pepper chicken which was really good too. Didnt love the chemmeen mappas. It was decent. This would be our go to place when we get craving for food from home. The space is more of a take out vibe. They are opening a sit in restaurant in May and we look forward to visiting that.
If you want South Indian food takeout in the White Plains area, this place will not disappoint... even though its the only South Indian restaurant we know of and they have no competition. We love their idlis and dosas. Get the spicier dosa version if youre into spicy food instead of the masala dosa, its the same stuffing but kicked up a notch. Just so happy this is in the area, is delicious, AND they deliver to us (although theres a delivery fee...)
Very delicious food. We order almost every weekend for delivery. If you like authentic Indian food, this is the place. Egg roast curry is mind blowing. Mirch Masala Dosa, Fried Rice, Methi Paneer, Jalapeno naan are very good options. We have tried other curries and south indian dishes as well and we liked it very much.
I used to eat here all the time, it was nice indian food, BUT THEN i ordered lamb saag for takeout one night and when i got home, i was shocked. It was not lamb in my saag. It was also DEFINITELY NOT chicken, fish, paneer, tofu, or any other kind of meat/substance found on the menu. It was round, white, cartilage/fat/foam balls that had the consistey of nothing i have ever seen. Absolutely horrifying, and they were in my dish with abundance! There was 2 pieces of lamb total. Believe me, i know tofu and paneer, this was neither. I will never return.
I’ve dined here four times in the last three months. Three dinners and the buffet on Sunday. The food is really good. Flavors are multi-dimensional and the spices are well balanced. The service is very attentive and friendly. Prices are fair—a good value. Best Indian food in Westchester in my humble opinion.
Trying to order online is very hit or miss. On multiple occasions I have tried to order for delivery, but then receive a call from them saying they are unable to deliver at this time, and if I can come pick the order up. They should just turn off the option for delivery. But the food is good.
Even though food is priced fair, staff behavior was extremely Pathetic! I dont expect the billing person to be overly courteous atleast dont be rude to the customer. Such a worse customer experience Ive ever had in any of the restaurants. If you are planning to take your kids, I wouldnt recommend this place.
LOVE IT!! I GET LUNCH TAKE OUT FROM THIS PLACE AT LEAST 3 TIMES PER WEK. I WILL NEVER GET TIRED OF HAVING THEIR DELICIOUS FOODS. I REALLY LIKE THEIR BUFFET CHOICES, BREADS, AND ROLLS ARE VERY TASTY. IVE TRIED MANY INDIAN RESTAURANTS, THIS ONE IS SMALL BUT SO GOOD; FRESH INGREDIENTS, DELICIOUS TASTE, FRIENDLY STAFF (NOT STINGY AT ALL WITH THE LUNCH BUFFET), AND VERY AFFORDABLE PRICES.

2022-02-28I drove all the way from ny to here to get some porotta and beef. There is only one guy for serving and it took almost an hour just for taking the order and bringing food. The food was not at all good and I did not like the experience. Not coming back here again.

2022-07-05Authentic South Indian food. Very efficient staff. Tasty and Good quantity.A little on the spicy side, unless you reiterate multiple times to tone it down you will end up with spicy and greasy on every dish.

2022-07-18By far the cheapest and best lunch spot in White Plains. The special gives you meat, can of soda, rice, veggie, and naan bread all under 11-12 dollars. Food is consistent and tastes great which I appreciate.

2022-04-20I used to order the lunch special from here, and 3-4 years ago the food was good. However, I recently ordered for delivery at work, and the rice was cold and unappetizing, the curries were bland, and the food had no salt. Im sorry to say, but I would not order here again.

2022-04-21I’ve been ordering my Indian food from here for two years now. Never a single complaint until just the other week. One time out of two years, they messed up my order. I picked up my food without checking it and when I got home, I only received one chicken tikka masala instead of two. I called them up, they apologized, and they threw in an extra naan and desert for my trouble.I posted this just to point out how graciously they treated the mistake (a rare one) and this is the #1 place I go to for Indian food in Westchester.

2022-07-19Ate in their restaurant disgusting food, their service was even worse. Each item came at a different time, chutney came after the entrees were served and they had the nerve to charge us!Only one person working took 2 hours to get served,!Asked to turn on the air, just the fan because the restaurant stunk of dead animals!Going to call the department of health.Don’t waste your time or money!

2019-05-27I came here on Memorial Day for lunch with a friend, the buffet was still happening which we were happy about. It was about $11 a plate which was a steal and there were lists of options to choose from. The food was decently seasoned too and we were able to get seconds. I needed some mango chutney and they were nice enough to make some fresh for me. A great experience and I will be back!

2019-06-12Finally posting about this hidden gem in White Plains, my husband and I have been coming here for years and absolutely love it. They serve dosa from South India, which is superb, and their tikka masala is hands-down the best I’ve had anywhere. The staff are so kind and helpful. Come on the weekends to get their buffet, you’ll get to try a lot of amazing dishes!!

2018-10-03Visiting from out of town and stopped in for dinner. It was delicious! The staff were friendly and attentive, but not hovering. The portions were a nice size. Best naan Ive had yet. The decor was streamlined and modern, love the entryway and the blue ceiling lights which created a soft ambiance. The staff mentioned that they opened earlier this year and just got their liquor license so they will be able to add cocktails to their menu soon. They currently have red and white wine options along with beer.

2018-05-30Great Indian Food served here .. Very authentic.. Loved their tandoori chicken and even their buffet is great, just few dishes but all of the dishes are delicious unlike other indian buffet places where they go crazy with loads of dishes.. they went for quality instead of quantity which worked out very well for them.
